ALBUQUERQUE – A former U.S. Navy SEAL who intended to use explosives against law enforcement officers at California protests and whose actions prosecutors argued were motivated by extremist, antisemitic beliefs was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
There is no parole in the federal system.
According to court records and evidence presented at trial, on June 12, 2025, Gregory Vandenberg, 49, was traveling from El Paso, Texas, to San Diego, California, to attend the “No Kings Day” protests scheduled for June 14, 2025. While in New Mexico, Vandenberg visited a travel center off Interstate 10 near Lordsburg and purchased six large mortar fireworks, which are designed to shoot high into the air and explode, and 72 M-150 firecrackers, which are designed to sound like gunfire. During this visit, he told the store clerk that he intended to throw fireworks at police officers at the upcoming protests. He asked detailed questions about the amount of gunpowder in the fireworks, their explosive impact, and their ability to harm others. He also discussed taping multiple fireworks together to increase their explosive force. Vandenberg emphasized that he was not interested in the color or display of the fireworks, only in their ability to create explosions and injure law enforcement officers. He also encouraged the clerk to join him at the protests and discussed distributing fireworks to others at the event.
Employees, alarmed by Vandenberg’s statements and his repeated expressions of intent to throw explosives at law enforcement officers, recorded his license plate and contacted law enforcement. Authorities later alleged that Vandenberg intended to use the fireworks against law enforcement personnel during the protests, conduct that prosecutors described as posing a serious risk of injury or death to officers and bystanders alike.
Federal agents tracked Vandenberg to Tucson, Arizona, and arrested him the following morning while he was sleeping in his car at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Vandenberg initially claimed to be traveling for work (despite being unemployed at the time) and later falsely stated he was visiting friends in Phoenix that weekend.
A search of his vehicle revealed the purchased fireworks, along with clothing displaying antisemitic, anti-Israel, and extremist imagery, including a shirt bearing the Al-Qaeda flag and another calling for the destruction of Judea. Agents also discovered that the home screen on Vandenberg’s phone displayed the Taliban flag. Investigators further determined that Vandenberg had worn a custom-made shirt bearing the word “AMALEK” during his visit to the travel center, which he stated meant “destroyer of Jews.”
A review of Vandenberg’s phone revealed antisemitic, anti-Israel, anti-U.S., and extremist content, including internet searches and messages expressing hostility toward Jews and Israel. According to court records, investigators found messages indicating that Vandenberg viewed the United States government as being controlled by Israel and Jewish people and that those beliefs motivated his desire to target law enforcement officers at the protests. Prosecutors argued that his conduct was driven by extremist, antisemitic views and posed a grave threat to public safety.
On January 12, 2026, following a five-day jury trial, a federal jury convicted Vandenberg of transportation of explosives with intent to kill, injure or intimidate and attempted transportation of prohibited fireworks into California. Upon his release from prison, Vandenberg will be subject to one year of supervised release.

In mentioning a joint U.K-Ukraine “drone deal,” Zelenskyy noted [15:32 video]“I want to build a big factory in Britain, while offering new technologies and sharing with our partners.“

President Donald Trump secured one of the biggest constitutional victories of his presidency after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a 91 year old precedent that had limited a president’s authority to remove officials from so called “independent” federal agencies.
In a 6 to 3 ruling, the Court held that presidents have the constitutional authority to remove officials serving in executive branch agencies, striking down key parts of the Court’s 1935 decision in Humphrey’s Executor v. United States. The ruling immediately gives Trump the authority to remove Federal Trade Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter, a Democrat whose case became the central test of the administration’s push to restore executive power.
The decision is expected to reshape the federal government by strengthening presidential control over agencies responsible for labor policy, consumer protection, workplace discrimination, aviation safety, financial regulation, and other executive functions.
Chief Justice John Roberts made the Court’s position unmistakable.
“If anything more is left of Humphrey’s, we overrule it.”
The ruling effectively ends nearly a century of legal precedent that allowed Congress to shield certain executive branch officials from being fired by the president.
Conservative legal analyst Ben Dyke called the decision a “bombshell,” adding, “This is historic.”
Dyke argued the Constitution has always vested executive authority in the president alone, pointing to the opening sentence of Article II:
“The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.”
Supporters of the ruling say the Constitution never envisioned unelected bureaucrats operating independently of the elected chief executive. Instead, they argue, executive branch officials are accountable to the president, who is ultimately accountable to the American people.

The greatest threat to public trust comes when powerful people and institutions use their authority to suppress the truth.
The latest revelations from Sen. Rand Paul’s investigation into the origin of Covid expose what may be one of the most consequential scientific deceptions in history.
The 1,123 pages of private Slack messages exchanged among the authors of the highly influential “Proximal Origin” paper reveal that the scientists who publicly declared that a laboratory origin of Covid was not plausible privately held a very different view. They repeatedly acknowledged that a laboratory origin remained possible, discussed flaws in their own arguments, and struggled to defend the natural origin theory.
In the first batch of Slack messages between the authors, which was released by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2023, Kristian Andersen of Scripps Research, the lead author of “Proximal Origin,” privately described the possibility of a laboratory origin as “friggin’ likely.” In another exchange, he wrote, “The main issue is that accidental escape is in fact highly likely — it’s not some fringe theory,” and elsewhere another author acknowledged that Covid “easily could have” leaked from a laboratory. Yet only weeks later, on March 17, 2020, they published “Proximal Origin,” declaring that a laboratory-based scenario was not plausible.
When those earlier messages became public, Andersen offered a simple explanation. He argued that his initial doubts had been resolved before publication and that the messages merely reflected a normal scientific process of considering possibilities before reaching a conclusion.
The latest Slack disclosures completely destroy that claim.
The doubts did not disappear after publication. The newly released messages show the authors continuing to wrestle with evidence they found troubling. In one exchange from June 2020, Andersen wrote: “Gotta say — some smoking(ish) guns starting to appear that I’m not comfortable with.”
But rather than publicly admitting that their paper got it wrong, they instead discussed strategies for defending the natural-origin theory and finding arguments that could preserve it despite mounting problems.
The Genesis Of The Paper And The Hidden Hand Of Anthony Fauci
To understand why the scientists doubled down on their deception, it is necessary to understand how “Proximal Origin” came into existence and how it became one of the most influential scientific papers of the modern era.
“Proximal Origin” was conceived during a secret teleconference convened by Anthony Fauci on Feb. 1, 2020, as concerns grew that Covid might have originated from a laboratory. During that call, Fauci directed a group of scientists, led by Andersen and Robert Garry of Tulane University, and including Andrew Rambaut of the University of Edinburgh and Edward Holmes of the University of Sydney, to produce a paper addressing the possibility of a laboratory origin. Lipkin did not participate in the Slack exchanges that have since become public.
Upon its March 17, 2020 publication in Nature Medicine, the article reached a sweeping conclusion that a lab-based scenario was entirely implausible.
Despite Fauci’s central involvement in initiating the effort and shaping the discussion around the paper, his role was not disclosed to the public. The public was left with the impression that “Proximal Origin” represented an independent scientific assessment rather than a paper whose creation had been facilitated by the nation’s leading infectious disease official. That omission was particularly consequential because Fauci had himself been involved in funding gain-of-function research conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology after similar research had been restricted in the United States, making him not merely a commentator on the controversy but a figure directly implicated in the questions the paper sought to settle.

That has always been the case, and that is precisely what we see today," he said.
"The past five years - the period of your tenure as deputies - have been challenging and immensely responsible for our country," Putin told the legislators.
"We have long been confronted with unlawful restrictions, with attempts at containment and pressure - both after the 'Russian Spring' of 2014 and even before that. But since 2022, the West has put the Russophobic machine into full swing," he recalled.

In one of the sit-downs, Biden struggled to speak at all for several minutes, and only after he was prompted by the ghostwriter, Marc Zwonitzer.
'It strikes me that there were three big things going on,' he told Biden, after several painful moments passed. 'I think Iraq, Central America, and Ukraine seemed to be the things that were chewing up a lot of a lot of your time.'
Biden, in response, muttered quietly and struggled to string together complete or decipherable sentences. His first audible response detailed a discussion with Kevin McCarthy, who 'it looked like was going to be speaker, or … the number two guy.'
Biden then launched into a lengthy diatribe about energy infrastructure, while Zwonitzer listened on – at times, chiming in with specific dates or details to ostensibly aid the struggling lawmaker.
In another portion, Biden, prompted by Zwonitzer about a previous subject they discussed, struggled to remember any of the details or subjects discussed in the earlier sit-down.
‘The next thing I have here is classified,’ Biden said at one point.
'Some of this may be classified …' Biden can be heard telling Zwonitzer in another discussion.
'It's not marked classified, but …' Biden said, his voice trailing off. No classified materials were published in the book, but the discussions, and the documents, were cited in an explosive 2024 special counsel report.

Monster fire breaks out near Area 51 sparking theories of secret weapon testing
A massive fire has broken out near the highly classified Area 51 base in Nevada, sparking theories that a secret weapon was recently tested.
The blaze, dubbed the Quail Springs Fire, sparked on Saturday and has since burned through more than 4,400 acres.
The fire is located in Lincoln County, Nevada, just south of Rachel, burning near Bald Mountain on the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) withdrawn lands.
As of Monday, zero percent of the wildfire is contained as it spreads within the Nevada Test and Training Range, a military training area restricted to the public.
While officials said the fire was started by lightning, online users believe something more sinister is at play. Commenting on a livestream showing the blaze outside of Area 51, many people suggested a secret weapon was to blame.
'I don't want to be that guy, but I wonder if they're testing DEW (Directed Energy Weapons), and this is the result of such,' one viewer shared, referring to advanced systems that use lasers, high-power microwaves or particle beams to destroy targets.
Another commented, 'Maybe they tested a new dumb weapon and blew themselves up lol,' while another suggested the fire was to 'burn the evidence' of aliens.
Area 51 has become a cultural phenomenon thanks to decades of conspiracy theories connecting the base to UFOs, aliens and experimental aircraft testing.

Anthony Albanese and his 30-year relationship with Joe Hockey
When you look at the decades-long relationship between Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey, it is very powerful circumstantial evidence that it was Joe Hockey who organised the dinner with Albanese and the $1 million bribe.
Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey both entered politics on the 2nd of March 1996, with Hockey retiring in 2015.
In 1998 Albanese and Hockey traveled to Palestine together, and in 1999 they co-founded the Parliamentary Friends of Palestine group. Hockey discusses Albanese and the Palestine trip in the below video when Hockey gave a talk at the National Press Club of Australia on the 26th of May, 2026.
As a side note, it’s ironic that Joe Hockey has a Palestinian background, but he is now cashing in on AUKUS with his Bondi Partners business, and he supports the US, which has supplied most of the bombs that have destroyed Palestine and killed at least 75,000 people.
Over the years Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey have debated on numerous TV and radio shows, such as Channel 7’s Sunrise and ABC Radio.

Albanese posting the picture would have been deliberate to send a message to all public servants that Joe Hockey is a person to deal with on AUKUS because he is mates with the Prime Minister.
Given the close relationship between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Joe Hockey, who would have each other’s mobile phone numbers on speed dial, it was clearly Hockey who contacted Anthony Albanese and organised the dinner and $1 million bribe.

The Pentagon updated its official war casualty database over the weekend, adding more than 140 wounded service members. The Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) also introduced a new casualty category labeled “Overseas Operations” for personnel killed and wounded “starting July 7”.
According to the updated database, the official toll for the earlier phase of the US-Iran war, known as Operation Epic Fury, now stands at 14 service members killed and more than 400 wounded in action.
These figures have been a point of contention after the Pentagon previously reduced the totals from 18 deaths and 482 wounded that had been recorded just days earlier.
The dispute comes after the collapse of the ceasefire with Iran and the resumption of near-daily airstrikes beginning on 6 July. Analysts and officials have questioned whether casualties from the renewed fighting should be counted separately from Operation Epic Fury, a move that would be unprecedented.
The Trump administration is seeking to classify the renewed military campaign as separate from Operation Epic Fury, the US military’s official name for the Iran conflict.
The change is tied to the War Powers Act of 1973, which requires the president to end military operations within 60 days unless Congress authorizes an extension. The Trump administration has argued that the April ceasefire with Iran paused the clock on 1 May for the conflict’s initial period. The separate casualty count beginning on 7 July follows that interpretation.
The shift became apparent earlier this week when the Pentagon’s official online list of service members killed in the ongoing Iran war did not include the four soldiers who died during renewed fighting over the weekend. Their names, however, were included in a Pentagon press release announcing the formal transfer of their remains back to the US on Wednesday.
Combined with the updated Operation Epic Fury totals, the new Pentagon figures show that 18 US troops have been killed and 624 wounded since the US launched its war against Iran on 28 February.

Trump Asks Supreme Court to Allow Restrictions on Mail-In Voting to Take Effect
The emergency application comes after a federal appeals court held that the president’s executive order would confuse and possibly disenfranchise voters.
President Donald Trump asked the U.S. Supreme Court on July 27 to lift a lower court order blocking key parts of his executive order restricting voting by mail.
The Epoch Times obtained a copy of the new emergency application in Trump v. State of California, in which the federal government argues that the lower courts ruled incorrectly.
Trump’s executive order 14399, dated March 31, aimed to tighten mail-in voting rules in 23 Democratic-led states and the District of Columbia, which challenged it in court.
In June, Judge Indira Talwani of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts ruled that parts of the order were beyond the president’s power and blocked its enforcement in those jurisdictions.
The ruling applies only to the jurisdictions that sued, including California, Massachusetts, Maryland, Arizona, Maine, and New Mexico.
Specifically, the judge blocked Section 2, which directs the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from compiling lists of voting-age U.S. citizens in each state, and Section 3, which directs the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to develop standards for mail-in and absentee ballots to be used in federal elections.
Section 2 is an attempt “to intimidate local election officials to use the necessarily incomplete … lists as a resource, lest they face criminal prosecution,” Talwani wrote.
The judge said Section 3 could not stand because “no law enacted by Congress delegates authority to control mail-in voting to USPS.” The postal service does not have statutory authority to finalize “any binding regulations on mail-in voting.”
On July 25, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit upheld Talwani’s order.
A majority of the First Circuit judges held that if the executive order were to take effect “for the elections taking place in September and November, it would sow confusion and threaten disenfranchisement of many eligible voters.”
The ruling dealt a blow to Trump’s election-integrity efforts ahead of the November midterm elections as Republicans try to hold on to slim majorities in both chambers of Congress.
In the new application, U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer said Talwani’s injunction was premature.
“[The Supreme Court] has repeatedly and recently recognized that courts cannot enjoin implementation of Executive Orders that leave open material issues that still need to be resolved by agencies, unless and until those agencies actually take concrete actions that injure the plaintiffs,” Sauer said.
The injunction irreparably harms the government because even if plans to implement the executive order “end up being entirely lawful, there is not enough time to obtain ordinary appellate relief from the injunction in order to carry them out before the November election.”
Sauer said that in the executive order, the president merely commanded his subordinates to assess applicable laws to determine what appropriate action they may take to implement the order.
“In other words, if it turns out that there is no lawful way to implement the Executive Order’s directives, the Order itself instructs the agencies not to take action. The district court was wrong to read that command out of the Order,” he said.
Sauer urged the Supreme Court to grant an immediate stay of the injunction.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson directed the respondents, led by California, to respond to the application by 4 p.m. on Aug. 3.

Closure of San Francisco immigration court puts additional strain on Northern California immigration court system
The recent closure of an immigration court in San Francisco is adding to the strain on the Northern California immigration court system and on immigrants trying to navigate it.
Most of the cases that were being handled at the 100 Montgomery Street building in the city's Financial District are being moved about 30 miles east to the Concord Immigration Court.
Jeremiah Johnson used to be a federal immigration judge until he was among among a group of San Francisco immigration judges fired as part of a nationwide purge by the Trump administration. Since 2025, the Trump administration has fired, retired, or forced out more than 200 immigration judges amid a backlog of 3.3 million cases.
"I had served for eight years in San Francisco and learned that this past November I was fired with no cause given and it was through an email," Johnson said.
Johnson still hasn't found a new job, but more than that, he says he's worried about the reasons behind the court's closure.
"I think by firing judges, you reduce the number of people that can hear these cases. You're sending a chilling effect to others," Johnson said. "And in essence, you are basically saying, 'No more hearings, we're not going to have a full and fair hearing.'"
"Now we're getting cases set for 2029, even 2030," immigration attorney Ghassan Shamieh said. He's representing clients whose cases are working their way through the system - cases that have all now been transferred to Concord.
Shamieh said the message from the Trump administration was very clear.
"If you don't acquiesce to what we want, if you don't bend the knee, this will be your fate," Shameih said. "We will not only fire you, but we will close the courts down and prevent cases from being heard and move them so that they are delayed."
In a statement in May, the U.S Department of Justice said closing the San Francisco courthouse was a cost-savings move. With the closure of the San Francisco courthouse in May, there are now only two federal immigration courts to serve the approximately 12 million residents of Northern California - Concord and Sacramento.
When asked about the impact of the closure on cases in Concord, a DOJ spokesperson blamed the backlog of cases on the Biden Administration for "… allowing millions of unvetted migrants into our communities. Reducing the immigration court backlog remains one of the highest priorities for this administration. The Justice Department is restoring integrity to our immigration system by hearing cases fairly, expeditiously, and uniformly, in accordance with the law."
In May, the Trump administration onboarded more than 80 new federal immigration judges, who the administration has publicly referred to in ads and job listings as "deportation judges," including in one ad calling for applicants to "deliver justice to criminal illegal aliens."
At the time, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Trump administration was "committed to reestablishing an immigration judge corps that is dedicated to restoring the rule to the law in our nation's immigration system."
Immigration courts are not part of the judiciary, and are instead overseen by the executive branch and the Department of Justice.
"The administration of these courts is deplorable," said Democratic Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, whose district covers the majority of Contra Costa County including Concord. "And that goes right to the top to the president of the United States. So I'm very concerned because it's a mess and it affects not just the people directly involved, but it directs the community as well."
Johnson says the other issue is Concord's courthouse is smaller, originally designed to take pressure off the San Francisco courts, never to replace it.
"Out of the 21 judges that were my colleagues in San Francisco, there's only two left that are still on the bench," Johnson said. "The other judges in Concord is nowhere near the amount of judges that they have capacity for."
The nonpartisan Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, a research center that gathers federal government data on enforcement, staffing and spending, reported that over 100,000 immigration court cases were closed last month, the most for a single month in court history. The surge was driven by a 30% jump in deportation orders between March and June. Meanwhile, the percentage of peole granted asylum in the country dropped from 31% in February 2025 to an all-time low of 5% this past February, TRAC showed.

NASA Astronaut Chris Williams, Crewmates Return After 8 Months on Space Station
Concluding an eight-month science mission aboard the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Chris Williams returned to Earth on Sunday alongside Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev.
The crew made its safe, parachute-assisted landing at 5:27 a.m. CDT (3:27 p.m., Kazakhstan time), southeast of Dzhezkazgan, after departing the space station at 2:03 a.m., aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft.
The crew was in space for 241 days, orbiting the Earth 3,856 times and traveling more than 102 million miles. They launched to the International Space Station on Nov. 27, 2025. The mission was the first for Williams and Mikaev and the second for Kud-Sverchkov.
While aboard the orbiting laboratory, Williams supported a wide range of scientific investigations and technology demonstrations. He helped advance research for new cancer treatments and improved in-space manufacturing of materials used in high-performance computers and electronics. Williams also completed two spacewalks to prep for space station power system upgrades and to replace a faulty joint on the Canadarm2 robotic arm. The crew’s work aboard the space station helps improve life on Earth and prepare for future human missions to the Moon and Mars.
Following post-landing medical checks, the crew members will fly by helicopter to Karaganda, Kazakhstan, where recovery teams are based. Williams then will board a NASA aircraft bound for the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
For more than 25 years, people have lived and worked continuously aboard the International Space Station, advancing scientific knowledge and making research breakthroughs not possible on Earth. The space station helps NASA understand and overcome the challenges of human spaceflight, expand commercial opportunities in low Earth orbit, and build on the foundation for long-duration missions to the Moon, as part of the Artemis program, and to Mars.

The podcaster has taken to wasting his talents on an eccentric, toxic agenda: mysteriously pro-Vladimir Putin, obsessively anti-Israel, weirdly ashamed of America.
“If I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out, too,” he boasts — a claim as bizarre as his praise for Qatar, a nation that funds Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, persecutes Christian converts, restricts civil liberties and treats women as second-class citizens.
Laughably, Carlson says he feels sorry for his old friend Vice President JD Vance, “stuck” serving under President Trump.
In fact, Vance deserves pity for his prolonged efforts to woo Carlson back into reality.
Carlson’s downward spiral was already becoming obvious in 2024, when he traveled to Moscow to interview Putin and sat still not only for the autocrat’s skewed historical ramblings but Vlad’s open contempt for his interviewer.
By March of this year, he was claiming the CIA read his texts with Iran in an effort to “frame” him as a foreign agent.
He’s even wondered if Trump could “be the Antichrist.”
So Republicans can happily cheer his exit — while hoping he gets the professional help he so plainly needs.

It’s time for the US to give Ukraine access to Patriot Missiles 🚨
After running to the bomb shelter in Ukraine myself several times since being here due to Russian ballistic missiles being launched toward my direction, after feeling my chest tighten as I was woken up in the middle of the night by air raid alarms nearly every night, and after watching the devastation and destruction of American businesses in Ukraine by Russian Ballistic missiles, it is my opinion that the United States should give Ukraine more Patriot missiles.
Patriots are purely defensive systems that intercept Russian ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones targeting Ukrainian cities, power plants, and civilians. They save lives, protect critical infrastructure, and force Russia to expend expensive munitions for diminished results, without enabling Ukrainian strikes into Russia or putting American troops at risk.
This support also counters a direct threat to Americans. According to US officials and Ukrainian intelligence, Russia has provided Iran with targeting intelligence (including locations of US warships, aircraft, and forces in the Middle East) to enable Iranian attacks. Ukrainian intelligence has further documented Russian satellite imagery of US bases in the Gulf being shared with Tehran, correlating with strikes that have killed American service members. Russia and Iran’s deepening military partnership (drones, tech, and now targeting data) links the two fronts: degrading Russia’s war machine in Ukraine reduces its capacity to arm and assist Iran in operations that kill US soldiers. Russia is doing this as Iran is actively plotting to assassinate President Trump and other Americans who support bombing the IRGC. Russia has even amplified some of those assassination threats by Iran.
Providing Patriots is low-risk leverage that defends Ukrainian civilians, raises the cost of Russian aggression, and weakens an axis of evil already costing American lives.
The Ukrainians are willing to shed their blood so Amercians don’t have to.
If Ukraine falls, Russia will replicate what they have done here in other parts of Europe and eventually the US. We have an opportunity now to save more lives, especially future American lives.
Patriot missiles in Ukraine will slow down the spread of multipolarity.
I hope Ukraine is given Patriot Missiles. I never thought I would ever say this, but I truly believe this is urgent and necessary.

This is no time for juvenile political theater
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, President Trump’s outstanding choice to be the 88th attorney general of the United States, is a superbly qualified nominee and must be confirmed by the United States Senate without delay.
At a time of war, it is critically important for Mr. Blanche — who was confirmed just last year as our nation’s deputy attorney general with unanimous Republican support — to be approved swiftly. We need a Senate-confirmed chief law enforcement officer in place to fully defend America from dangerous enemies, both foreign and domestic.
This is no time for juvenile political theater or Senate Democrats’ typical stall tactics. The American people voted for law and order, supporting police, combating fraud, strong borders, secure elections and locking up terrorists and drug traffickers.
