The Army falsely denied for days that Lt. Gen. Charles A. Flynn, the brother of disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn, was involved in a key meeting during its heavily scrutinized response to the deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol.

Charles Flynn confirmed in a statement issued to The Washington Post on Wednesday that he was in the room for a tense Jan. 6 phone call during which the Capitol Police and D.C. officials pleaded with the Pentagon to dispatch the National Guard urgently, but top Army officials expressed concern about having the Guard at the Capitol.

Flynn left the room before the meeting was over, anticipating that then-Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, who was in another meeting, would soon take action to deploy more guard members, he said.

“I entered the room after the call began and departed prior to the call ending as I believed a decision was imminent from the Secretary and I needed to be in my office to assist in executing the decision,” Flynn said.

The general’s presence during the call — which has not previously been reported — came weeks after his brother publicly suggested that President Donald Trump declare martial law and have the U.S. military oversee a redo of the election. There is no indication that Charles Flynn shares his brother’s extreme views or discharged his duties at the Pentagon on Jan. 6 in any manner that was influenced by his brother.

It makes sense that Flynn, as the Army’s deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and training, would have been involved in the Pentagon response. The D.C. Guard answers to the president, but the president delegates control over the force to the defense secretary and the Army secretary, essentially leaving it to top Army officials to make critical decisions regarding the District’s military force. Flynn, however, is not in the chain of command.

The Army’s initial denial of Flynn’s participation in the critical Jan. 6 meeting, despite multiple inquiries on the matter, comes as lawmakers demand transparency from the Defense Department in the aftermath of one of Washington’s gravest national security failures, which left one police officer and four rioters dead, the Capitol desecrated and the lives of Vice President Mike Pence and members of Congress endangered.

The episode highlights the challenge for the Army in having an influential senior officer whose brother has become a central figure in QAnon, the extreme ideology that alleges Trump was waging a battle with Satan-worshiping Democrats who traffic children. Michael Flynn, who previously ran the Defense Intelligence Agency and left the Army as a three-star general, has espoused QAnon messages, and QAnon adherents are among those who have been charged in connection with the attempted insurrection. In November, Trump announced he had pardoned Flynn, who had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

The night before the Capitol siege, Michael Flynn addressed a crowd of Trump supporters at Freedom Plaza near the White House, saying: “This country is awake tomorrow. . . . The members, the members of Congress, the members of the House of Representatives, the members of the United States Senate, those of you who are feeling weak tonight . . . we the people are going to be here, and we want you to know that we will not stand for a lie.”

McCarthy, who left office as the Trump administration concluded Wednesday, said in a Jan. 12 interview with The Post that he was not on the call, implying he could not address whether Flynn was. But he defended Flynn’s character, saying he has known him for years.

“Charlie Flynn is an officer of an incredibly high integrity,” McCarthy said. “Multiple combat tours. He has buried a lot of people. This guy has given a lot to this country. It is incredibly awkward for this officer every day for what is going on with him and his brother, but he puts his head down in, and he is locked in to serve the Constitution.”

Never-before-seen FBI files on OJ Simpson have revealed the extensive information and efforts that were made to collect evidence in the infamous murder case. 

A 790-page document obtained by the Black Vault which was released for the first time this week shows the lengths that the FBI went to collect evidence on the former star.

A handwritten document from August 1994 shows that the Los Angeles Police Department had collected multiple cloth swatches as well as car fibers from OJ's white Ford Bronco.

After thorough examination, results indicted: 'These hairs/fragments exhibit the same microscopic characteristics as hairs found in the K7 specimen and, accordingly, could have originated from ORENTHAL J. SIMPSON, the identified source of the K7 hairs.

'No other hairs like specimen K7 were found on or in items submitted from the victims, crime scene and glove recovered outside the O.J. SIMPSON residence.

The House Judiciary Committee is seeking testimony from a FBI analyst who confirmed to Twitter content moderators that first son Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” was genuine — on the same day that The Post’s bombshell report on the hard drive’s contents was censored by the social media giant.

JUST IN: Federal law enforcement officials plan to announce criminal charges Friday in connection with the alleged Iranian hack of emails from members of former President Donald Trump's campaign, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The Iranians allegedly gained access to data and files taken from the email accounts of Trump advisers, which included internal documents used to vet Trump's perspective running mate, the sources said.

The Trump campaign, as victims, would be notified of any criminal charges that happen, as is standard Department of Justice practice.

Sources tell ABC News the Trump campaign has been informed.

A Justice Department official declined to comment when reached by ABC News.

Good morning Chairman Loudermilk, Ranking Member Torres and Members of the Subcommittee. Thank you for inviting me to testify today. Your subcommittee's investigation into the security failures that occurred at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 is important because

what happened that day must never again be repeated.

I am here today because two senior general officers of the United States Army, General

Charles Flynn and Lieutenant General Walter Piatt, lied about why it took so long for the D.C.

National Guard to deploy to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. When I say these officers lied, I do not do so lightly or cavalierly. I speak from personal knowledge having interacted with them on January 6, having spoken to them on that day and having been on video and telephone conference calls with them on January 6* and on days before and after.

These officers lied with impunity, making material misrepresentations without fear of contradiction or repercussion in both oral and written testimony to multiple committees of the

Congress, both House and Senate. They lied to Department of Defense investigators, and they lied to members of the press who were looking into their actions or inaction on that infamous

day.

I hope to discuss with you today how they lied, where they lied and in my opinion why

they lied. I will also tell you that despite their wrongdoing, these officers were and are backed

to the hilt by the current civilian leadership of both the Department of the Army and the

Department of Defense. The current Secretary of the Army, Christine Wormuth, has doubled-

down on supporting these generals, dismissing out of hand, without investigation or inquiry, my

allegations of their misconduct.

The Secretary of the Army's spokesperson issued a statement indicating that: "Generals

Piatt and Flynn have been open honest and thorough in their sworn testimony with Congress and

DoD investigators. We stand by all testimony and facts provided to date and vigorously reject

any allegations to the contrary."

General Flynn will retire this summer without any accountability for having made

untruthful statements to congressional committees. In 2022, the current Secretary of the Army and the current Secretary of Defense, with the strong support, encouragement and urging of the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark A. Milley, sent Lieutenant General Piatt's name to the President of the United States for nomination for promotion to full General.

Army leadership held open the 4-star Army Futures Command billet for nearly 1 year as various

senior leaders advocated with Senate members and with the White House staff in order to win

support for General Piatt's nomination. Although these Army leaders were unsuccessful, Piatt

for a time served as the de facto Acting Vice Chief of Staff of the Army before retiring this year.

A Tale of Two Duplicitous Generals

On March 2, 2021 Lieutenant General Piatt lied to a senior Department of Defense

official, then Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Global Security,

Mr. Robert G. Salesses, when Piatt told Mr. Salesses that, on January 6, 2021, Piatt never

expressed concern about the negative optics of uniformed National Guard personnel at the

Capitol during a 2:30 pm telephone call with D.C. government officials, the U.S. Capitol Police

Chief, and D.C. National Guard leaders. Mr. Salesses was preparing to testify before a joint

The Facts

Moore indeed delivered a speech in which he praised the rhetoric of Trump, arguing he empowered "dispossessed" American voters, and calling Trump "the man who has threatened to upend and overturn the very system that has ruined their lives." Moore also said his victory would be hated by "the elites," "the career politicians," and "the media…after they loved him," statements that echo some of Trump's campaigning.

Donald Trump posted a similar version of the clip on Truth Social in April 2023.However, the context of the video has been taken grossly out of context.First, it was filmed more than seven years ago. It is a truncated clip from the film Michael Moore in TrumpLand, a one-man show recorded in October 2016, in which he spoke about the presidential election and American political culture==. Filmed a few weeks before the 2016 election, it included but was not limited to discussions about Trump's campaign. Moore's show was not a celebration of Trump…Crucially, the clip shared on X also leaves out the rest of Moore's monologue in which he argues that Trump voters were being duped.

BREAKING: The North Carolina Election Board just revealed that they have removed 750,000 names from the voter rolls, including 130,000 dead people and 290,000 registrations that were duplicates

This comes after Republicans filed a lawsuit, showing 225,000 names were unlawfully allowed onto the rolls because of a failure "to collect certain required identification information before the registration forms were processed."

This purge of exactly 747,274 is just the number purged in the last 20 months. So, I don't believe it includes the names challenged by the Republican Party, which means they still have hundreds of thousands more to remove.

How does a state of 10 million end up with almost a million ineligible registrations in the first place? In elections, sometimes separated by a handful of votes, having almost a million ineligible names on the voter rolls, plus rampant mail-in voting, is an Election Fraudster's dream.
