The first shot doesn't need to be a bullet. Check assumptions. While it looks like someone did get hit to Trump's left, that same shot seems to blow dust behind a second person off the rail, which would indicate a totally different direction and didn't come close to Trump. So, what's going on? There are some pre-shooting photos of Trump's ear that look like some type of device is in his earlobe. It could be a very small explosive which would cause minimum damage but be triggered by sound or somehow simultaneously with the shot going off. The timing is too impeccable to imagine much else BUT perhaps there was a silenced shot of non-lethal or like a paint dart or even a next-gen guided non-lethal ammunition that was used that actually came in from an angle we aren't even considering. Lots of assumptions there, but what would be the point. There could be a team of people, perhaps some not even knowing about others, on the roof, in the stands, other places, assassination managers or perhaps backup shooters, diversions, etc. If they were all taken out or preempted and disabled, it would explain the clear response from the left that they understood that though they thought they could get him, Trump actually has total control way more than they imagined. The initial shots could be part of warnings, getting Trump covered up, and taking out immediate threats. The futher shots are panic shots and then responses to neutralize. Any "smart" assassins would quickly understand they've been exposed and perhaps would simply retreat from their position or disengage and withdrawal or blend back into the crowd or security force rather than attempt full kamikaze.
