Fiji’s New Patrol Boat Evacuated After Grounding on First Patrol

The Government of Fiji and the Fiji Navy are working to manage a major embarrassment after the country’s new patrol boat, a gift from Australia, grounded halfway through its maiden deployment. The sailors were safely evacuated while a crisis management team is working to save the vessel which is reported to be on a reef and flooding.
RFNS Puamau built by Australian shipbuilder Austal was delivered in March 2024 as part of an ongoing program of goodwill and mutual security between Australia and the neighboring island nations. The vessel, valued at approximately US$10.6 million, had just completed days of safety and survival at sea training. It had embarked on a two-week maiden patrol.
The Fiji Navy confirmed that the vessel grounded on Monday in the southeastern reaches of the island nation. Reports indicate it is in the remote Lau group of islands, with ABC News Australia calling it a “treacherous area” with difficult sea passages.
There were reports of strong winds in the area, but the Navy will only say that the cause of the cause of the incident will be investigated. Learning of the grounding, the Navy dispatched another Austal-built patrol boat, RFNS Savenaca to the scene. They report without specifying a number that the crew was safely evacuated and surveys do not show any pollution coming from the patrol boat.
Media reports are indicating that the engine room of the patrol boat is flooding and efforts are underway to pump out the water and stabilize the vessel. The Australian Defence Force is also providing aerial assistance.
“Damage control teams, comprised of Navy divers and Navy engineers, are effecting temporary fixes and devising strategies for the removal of all fuel and the patrol boat’s de-storing, with aerial and surface assessments confirming the absence of any spills,” the Fiji Navy wrote in an update from earlier today. “The crisis management team continues to oversee the operation from HQ Navy in collaboration with key stakeholders.”
The vessel was the first of four Guardian-class Patrol Boats scheduled for delivery by Austal’s Western Australian shipyards in 2024 and the nineteenth delivered as part of the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project initially awarded to Austal Australia in May 2016. The shipbuilder is receiving more than A$350 million (US$233 million), and delivering patrol boats being gifted by Australia to Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Federated States of Micronesia, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau, Samoa, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Timor-Leste.
The vessels are approximately 130-foot (39.5-meter) steel monohull patrol boats designed, constructed, and sustained by Austal Australia. According to the shipbuilder, they are faster than the previous Pacific-class patrol boats, with improved seakeeping, better amenities, and an enhanced mission capability. They have an integrated RHIB stern launch and recovery system and were designed to carry out border patrols, regional policing, search and rescue, and other operations domestically and internationally.
The media is saying that the vessels however received criticism with reports of defects including with the exhaust system. The Australian Department of Defence reportedly issued an advisory to the various nations on how to operate the vessels to reduce risks.
Concerns are being raised for the new vessel because of its exposed position and challenging sea conditions which could delay salvage efforts. The Fiji Navy said after the safe recovery of the crew and assisting their families, its focus is on safely recovering the vessel.

Texas GOP Rep. Troy Nehls requested information from the United States Army on Tuesday, on why one of his military service awards was allegedly revoked last year.
Nehls has come under scrutiny recently after he continued wearing a Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), despite it being revoked by the Army in 2023. A CBS News review last month revealed that the award was revoked because he served as a civil affairs officer with the 101st Airborne Division, when the badge was intended for infantrymen and Special Forces soldiers.
The congressman said he disagrees with the service pulling the pin, which was awarded to him in 2008 for his service in Afghanistan, and requested information on who the service spoke with about the pin.
“I further believe this is a concerted effort to discredit my military service and continued service to the American people as a Member of Congress,” Nehls wrote in a letter to the Army Human Resource Command.
Nehls also asked for information on how many CIB service pins were pulled from military records in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, and for the Army to forward any correspondence about the pins that the Army Human Resource Command had with the 101st Airborne. He demanded a response to the requests within 14 days.
The Texan told reporters on Tuesday that he believes the Army had revoked his award because he supported former President Donald Trump.

Federal Reserve holds interest rates at two-decade high as it waits for inflation to cool
The Federal Reserve held interest rates at a two-decade high on Wednesday, as it awaits more signs of inflation cooling.
Officials at the US central bank expect to cut rates just once this year, according to projections released on Wednesday after their latest two-day meeting.
As recently as March, the last time these projections were released, policymakers expected the Fed to cut rates three times this year.
This time around, they opted to keep rates between 5.25% and 5.5%, where they have been for nearly a year.
While the Fed chair, Jerome Powell, described price growth as “still too high”, he welcomed official data released on Wednesday which signaled that it had eased.

It wasn’t Hunter Biden who pulled out of his plea bargain
So what happened? It's a little complicated. The deal had two parts: a Plea Agreement and a Diversion Agreement. The immunity provisions were in the Diversion Agreement.
This matters because it allows the Plea Agreement to be a "B agreement." Under a B agreement, the judge has no authority to accept or reject the plea. All she does is sentencing. However, if the immunity provisions were placed within the Plea Agreement—which is normal—then it would be an "A agreement" and the judge would have more authority over it.
The judge in the case implied that this was a bit of slick lawyering. She has no authority over the Diversion Agreement, which is solely a contract between Hunter and the government, and, because the immunity provisions were moved, she has no authority over the Plea Agreement either. So she's just a rubber stamp.
And there's more. The judge has no authority and no input into the Diversion Agreement, but it nonetheless includes a clause that makes her the arbiter of any alleged breaches in the agreement:
THE COURT: I'm concerned that that provision makes me a gatekeeper to criminal charges and puts me in the middle of a decision as to whether to bring a charge. And we already talked about separation of powers and that choice as to whether to bring charges is not — that's the executive branch, not the judicial branch, so is this even constitutional?

Governor DeSantis declares state of emergency in parts of Florida amid severe flooding
Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency Wednesday in parts of the US state of Florida due to flooding.
The emergency situation covers several counties including Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade and Sarasota.
"The rainfall and flooding has affected and may continue to impact the operational capability of critical infrastructure, including major

=US Navy to send $27 million to Tustin after disastrous hangar fire
Months after a massive fire at a Navy hangar fouled the air in Tustin, people living there are still uneasy about what's been left behind.
"What are they doing?" resident Darlene Sparks said. "I think, as residents, we want to know what they are doing with this structure."
Sparks lives directly across the street from the massive Tustin hangar that burned last November, sending plumes of black smoke and debris into the air.
"I'd like to know when they are going to inspect our properties thoroughly inside our attics and our airconditioning units and go through our gutters," Sparks said. "Give us some updates. The biggest thing has been the lack of communication."
The US Navy, which owns the hangar, has committed an additional $27 million to the city of Tustin to help catch up on payments owed to contractors, according to the mayor. Work has already been done to clean up the site and nearby neighborhood, deconstruct the hangar and for air monitoring. Mayor Austin Lumbard said the new funding strengthened the city's confidence in recovering from the tragic event.

…Grant F. Smith tells the story of how, in the 1960s, a strenuous effort was made to have AIPAC register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). This effort was led by Sen. J.W. Fulbright (D-AR) and Rabbi Elmer Berger of the American Council for Judaism and received support from the Department of Justice. Unfortunately, it was not successful. Now, AIPAC has formed a political action committee and is contributing millions of dollars to defeat candidates who express support for Palestinian rights. The case which was made in the 1960s for AIPAC's registration as a foreign agent of Israel may be even stronger today.
To understand how AIPAC works and what its goals are, a careful reading will provide the necessary historical perspective. AIPAC often promotes itself as speaking for American Jews. Nothing could be further from the truth. The overwhelming majority of Jewish Americans, for example support the creation of a Palestinian state and supported the nuclear agreement with Iran, which AIPAC vigorously opposed.
Grant Smith understands that religion and nationality are separate and distinct. Americans of Jewish faith are American by nationality and Jews by religion, a concept which AIPAC and the government of Israel do not seem to understand. An ethnic minority militia force based on Myanmar’s border with Thailand is suspected of enabling extensive internet fraud, human trafficking, forced labor and other crimes, and is being enriched by a business network that extends across Asia, a rights group said in a report.
The group Justice for Myanmar detailed a multitude of business links that the junta-allied Karen Border Guard Force, or BGF, has established in Thailand, Malaysia and beyond, and it called on governments to act to stop the illegal activity.
The militia was formed by fighters who broke away from the Karen National Union insurgent group in the 1990s and sided with the junta. It became one of several military-backed Border Guard Forces in 2009.
Control over border crossings gave the group access to lucrative revenue streams, while its self-ruled zones became a magnet for illegal casinos, online gambling and scam centers that have proliferated along Myanmar’s borders with both China and Thailand.
The operations, which gangs organize throughout the region, are often run on the labor of people tricked into thinking they’ve landed legitimate jobs but forced to adopt false identities online in what have become known as “pig-butchering” schemes, forming relationships with victims then tricking them into investing in fake schemes.
University of Texas researchers estimated in a March report that scammers had tricked investors out of more than US$75 billion since January 2020.

Vietnamese now official language in San Francisco
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has freshly voted unanimously to formally declare Vietnamese an official city language that requires the authorities’ provision of translation services.
As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the move, alongside other changes to the US city’s language access ordinance, is aimed at ensuring that residents can be served in the language they are most comfortable in.

Its recent amendment lowered the threshold to 6,000, allowing the inclusion of Vietnamese to the list previously consisting of only Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino.
A total of 6,791 San Francisco residents identify as primarily Vietnamese speakers, according to the city’s language data dashboard. The city will now has to provide telephonic interpretations, website text, written notices, and other official services in Vietnamese.

When a computer expert who worked for congressional Democrats was accused of stealing computers and data systems in February, members of Congress cut him loose within days, leaving Imran Awan with no supporters five months later.
Except for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The Weston Democrat has not explained why she continued to employ Awan until Tuesday, when she fired him — after he was arrested on bank-fraud charges at Dulles International Airport in Virginia attempting to board a flight to Pakistan.
Nor has she elaborated on what work Awan did for her after he lost access to the House computer network.
She declined to answer questions about Awan in Washington on Wednesday, and her spokesman, David Damron, accompanied her to the House floor, instructing a reporter that Wasserman Schultz would not take questions about her former employee.
Wednesday evening, Wasserman Schultz released a statement:
"After details of the investigation were reviewed with us, my office was provided no evidence to indicate that laws had been broken, which over time, raised troubling concerns about due process, fair treatment and potential ethnic and religious profiling," she said. "Upon learning of his arrest, he was terminated."
Damron told the Miami Herald that Awan was still working for Wasserman Schultz in an advisory role until Monday, and was fired Tuesday. Wasserman Schultz was one of more than two dozen Democrats in Congress who employed Awan, 37, and four other information-technology staffers accused in February of stealing computer systems.
But months after Awan was fired by everyone else, Wasserman Schultz grilled Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa in May over why computer equipment was confiscated from her office as part of the investigation into Awan even though she was not under investigation.
"Under my understanding the Capitol police are not able to confiscate member's equipment when the member is not under investigation," Wasserman Schultz said. "It is their equipment and it is supposed to be returned."

The House Homeland Security Committee advanced a raft of new legislation today, including a bill aimed at cutting major Chinese battery manufacturers out of the Department of Homeland Security’s supply chain.
The committee today voted to approve a bill from Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fl.), “Decoupling from Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act.” The bill would block DHS from procuring batteries from six Chinese companies over concerns about human rights abuses, as well as supply chain and cybersecurity concerns.
Under the legislation, the ban would begin on Oct. 1, 2027.
During today’s markup, Gimenez said he had engaged with DHS in developing the legislation over the past two months. “The committee incorporated nearly all of DHS’s inputs,” he said.

The biggest problem the male generation have now is that there are very few positive male role models or mentors around that they can emulate or follow as most males have been through the same system that was their before and committed the same mistakes but unfortunately for the younger generation it is worse as the governments have almost all been infiltrated by female lobby groups, feminists ideologies and left and liberal thinking ambassadors , what most of the public is campaigning against is toxic masculinity but what is happening is that all males are being grouped as one problem, there is no place in this western world for men who hate women, also who do not own up to their behaviour and nor should there be, but with the divorce courts, separating father's from their children, forcing them to pay maintenance , even imprisoning them for none payment while the women is claiming off the state , has the family to rely on and if she is remotely attractive will have no shortage of white knights to take the place of the person who is the father of the children,, this plus the battered and bruised pride and ego of the man in this situation is hard to cope with, , the fact that men do not generally talk about this to anyone is what leads to a self-destructive life style, and if they do decide to commit suicide they will not try as a cry for help, it will be violent and permanent on themselves first and then on anyone else who is in their sphere, women and the state need to realise that they may be able to without these men but whilst this is happening to them the other men are witnessing this done to people they know , brothers , father's , uncles , friends and they know that they will not put themselves in the same situation, even if they find the one they want to marry. Mgtow is the only place left for men who cannot rely on the state or family or friends, it means " men going your own way" it is not a woman hating ideology, it has identified women's true nature and laid it out for all to hear , warts and all, and women's true nature has been set free now they do not need a man to rely on, but seriously, women are only thinking short term solutions, they are not looking at the bigger picture, most women are waking up to this fact but the damage has been done and being done on a daily basis, and the men used and taken advantage off have walked away, they may date and have relationships but there is hardly any man with any sense will sign the marriage contract knowing how stacked it is against him and his labours.

Theory of LOVE ? words and emotions matter, the love making has been changed to sex, and then to take it further down, it has been changed to fcuking, and banging and every other horrible thing that can be attached to it.
Men who have lost faith with marriage as it has been turned into a weapon of a resourced based business and commodity, men have turned into simps and cucks, or sex starved idiots who will lie, cheat and anything to get sex. Porn is everywhere, freely available and the whole world seems to be losing its mind, all negative energy.
Child birth has been violently attacked with birth control, sex, abortion and children have been used as a resource by females who have been propped up by the state, where having a baby guarantees them privileges, divorce courts, men have been used as cash cows and blamed for everything under the sun. Now separated due to the pandemic and sex is made scarce as even if indulged, it is done under fear of being caught, All this imbalances the liquid in a human body and this will effect the children born.
