Gov. Andrew Cuomo officially opened the second span of the new Hudson River Bridge that bears his father's name, taking the opportunity Friday to criticize Republican President Donald Trump as being "obsessed" with building walls instead of bridges.

Hillary Clinton, a former presidential nominee and U.S. senator, joined the fellow Democrat and Westchester County resident for an event marking the completion of the nearly $4 billion Mario M. Cuomo Bridge as crews wrap up work on the second span.

The bridge linking Westchester and Rockland counties 30 miles north of New York City replaces the old Tappan Zee Bridge, most of which has been demolished. Sections of the old bridge, which opened in 1955, are being used to build new artificial reefs off Long Island.

The younger Cuomo took his mother, Matilda Cuomo [dig?], for a pre-ceremony spin across the span in a restored 1932 Packard convertible owned by Franklin D. Roosevelt when he was New York's governor. Cuomo joked that he had to convince his mother to ride with him since she has never been a fan of his driving.

"I said, 'Mom, there is no one else on the bridge. What could happen?' It took a few minutes but she took the ride," Cuomo said.

The new bridge's first span opened last year, when the structure was named to honor Mario Cuomo, governor from 1983 to 1994. He died on Jan. 1, 2015.

His son, considered a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2020, has been a frequent critic of Trump, a native New Yorker who defeated Clinton in the 2016 election. Ukraine warns EU about 5 million refugees

Ukraine’s defense minister has decided to raise the specter of one of the European Union’s major concerns – large scale migration – amid American-driven claims that Russia is planning an invasion of his country.

Alexey Reznikov, who took charge of Kiev's Defense Ministry in November, warns that up to five million of his country men and women could flee to the EU in the event of a full-scale war. A similar number are believed to have already left since 2014, about two million to Russia, and the rest to other European countries.

Writing for pro-NATO lobby group the Atlantic Council, Reznikov said there was “real uncertainty” about whether Brussels understood the impact a much-hyped large-scale Russian incursion into Ukraine would have on the whole of the continent.

Reznikov dedicated his article to explaining to EU leaders the potentially “disastrous consequences” of any conflict – one Russia has repeatedly said it has no intention of starting.

The sudden appearance of between three and five million Ukrainian refugees fleeing a Russian invasion would be just one of many major concerns facing European society.

The crisis would also endanger Europe’s food security, as imports of grain and other essential products from Russia and Ukraine would come to a halt due to the fighting, he pointed out.

According to the minister, the Russian invasion would “mark a definitive end to the rules-based international order,” paving the way for “a new era of global insecurity” that could undermine decades of peace in Europe.

Russia believes the so-called "rules based international order" is a concept the US has devised to excuse its breaches of international law. For example, in its illegal occupations in Syria and Iraq.

When asked about being labeled a ‘public enemy’, Archbishop Vigano responded with the following:

Then, after delegitimizing the person as pathological, or in need of psychiatric care, suggesting that the adversary is mentally unstable who should be hospitalized in a mental institution. Finally, this process ends with the complete criminalization of all dissenters. In this way, the regime creates the necessary premises to separate all its adversaries from civil society.

When asked about spies attending masses of priests who warn their congregations about the perils of the COVID vaccines, the Archbishop replied:

I think that every priest has the right, or rather the duty, to warn his faithful about the real danger – not at all merely hypothetical – represented by the inoculation of this experimental medical product. This is especially the case when the entire psycho-pandemic farce clearly aims to lead toward the establishment of a dictatorship, whose purpose is to control the citizens through a violation of their constitutional and natural rights under the guise of a health emergency.

At another point, the Archbishop warned about the preparation that took place before the pandemic.

This operation required meticulous preparation and needed the participation of large parts of the public institutions and the private sectors, including the complicity of the Judiciary, of law enforcement and the media. These combined efforts are a real coup d’état and the pandemic is just a pretext – the profasis – through which is introduced the seeming inevitability of the violation of fundamental rights and the consequent establishment of the totalitarian regime of the New Order. In this New Order the pandemic superstition reigns supreme, with its magicians, its vaccine temples, its irrational rituals and its excommunications of sinners vitandi (“to be avoided” or “to be shunned”) — those who do not agree to give up their reason even before apostatizing from their Faith in order to embrace this insane ideological madness.
