Hundreds of DOC officers put on leave for refusing COVID jab

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is reviewing a so-called “Alternative Mueller Report” mentioned in a book by Andrew Weissmann, one of former special counsel Rober Mueller’s top prosecutors; with court filings indicating the document has been found, is now being processed, and there are plans for it to be released.

A Dec. 2 filing (pdf), first reported by Politico, shows lawyers from the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office telling District Judge Katherine Polk Failla that officials have “located and begun processing” the document that Weissmann was referring to in his book, “Where Law Ends: Inside the Mueller Investigation.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Jude wrote in the filing that primary processing of the document will wrap up by the end of January 2022 and that the Justice Department intends to release “all non-exempt portions” of the report to The New York Times, which filed a FOIA request to obtain it and later sued the DOJ to prompt its release.

Weissman, who worked on Mueller’s probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election and expressed dissatisfaction with the final version of the special counsel’s report, wrote in his book that he had all members of Mueller’s team “write up an internal report memorializing everything we found, our conclusions, and the limitations on the investigation, and provided it to the other team leaders as well as had it maintained in our files.”

Mueller’s report concluded there was insufficient evidence to establish a conspiracy between members of the Trump campaign and the Russian government to sway the 2016 election. Then-Attorney General William Barr said in a letter characterizing Mueller’s findings that the special counsel found “no collusion” between the Trump team and Russia, while former President Donald Trump described the probe as a “witch hunt” and a “hoax.”

While it is unclear what new insights the alternative report might provide, the New York Times said in its lawsuit (pdf) that the document is of “immense public interest” as it “may provide a more complete explanation of the scope” of Mueller’s report and that the existence of an alternative version “suggests that there was important facts or findings omitted from the original.”

The Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office said in the filing that, after primary processing of the alternative version is complete, it will be sent to other departments within the DOJ for consultation.

Ex-State Dept. employee sentenced for embezzling $150k in travel funds for SOUTHCOM events

A former State Department employee was sentenced to more than a year’s imprisonment Dec. 1 for his role in defrauding the department and the Defense Department of $150,000 through his role managing travel allowances for members of Southern Command, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina showed.

Roudy Pierre-Louis, 49, a Haitian citizen, was working at the Embassy of Haiti as the sole budget analyst from 2015 to August 2018 when he carried out a fraud scheme to receive cash advances for travel expenses like per diem, lodging and air fare, according to court documents.

According to court documents, Pierre-Louis worked for the embassy’s Security Coordination Office, and was responsible for managing all lines of accounting for State and Defense Department individuals travelling for SOUTHCOM and other regional events.

As Pierre-Louis was also the SCO’s designated Money Holder, he was authorized to receive cash on behalf of individuals who were not granted the full access to the embassy needed in order to receive the cash advances allowed for travel expenses.

Former Netflix engineer, friend sentenced in insider trading scheme

A former Netflix software engineer and his friend were sentenced to prison Friday in an insider-trading scheme that relied on subscriber data to make more than $3 million, federal prosecutors in Seattle said.

The former software engineer, Sung Mo Jun, 49, was sentenced to two years in prison and his friend, Junwoo Chon, 50, was sentenced to one year and two months in prison. They both pleaded guilty in August.

Turkey indicts 16 people suspected of spying for Israel's Mossad

Istanbul's Public Prosecutor on Friday indicted 16 people suspected of spying for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, Turkish Daily Sabah reported.

According to Arab48, the Turkish news website reported that 15 suspects are Palestinian, all currently in prison. The 16th suspect is Israeli Arab citizen, Ahmad Ziyad, who runs the network while living in Germany.

According to the indictment, the Mossad spying network consists of five lone cells. Each could receive a 20-year prison sentence should the court accept the Public Prosecutor's claims.

According to the Turkish daily, the second important person in the network is Abdul Kader Barakat, accused of passing money from Ziyad to the other suspects.

Other suspects were named, including Abdul Rahman Nawa, who wore glasses fitted with a camera to take pictures of certain known people.

Mohammad Salhab is also part of the network and collected information on Turkish charities with connections to Palestinian NGOs.

Raed Ashour, according to the Public Prosecutor, has worked as a spy for Mossad between 1997 and the time he was detained.

In October, the newspaper reported that members of a spy network working with Mossad had been detained.

Israel and Turkey have not yet issued official statements on the issue.

When asked by Israeli Channel 12 whether Turkey had exaggerated the issue, former Deputy Head of Mossad and current MK Ram Ben-Barak replied, "Yes".

He said that he would not explain how Mossad works, but urged: "The issue should be given importance proportional to its size."

R. Kelly Associate Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Intimidating Witness

A man was sentenced to eight years in prison Wednesday (Nov. 17) for setting fire to a car last year in what authorities said was an attempt to intimidate a potential witness in R. Kelly’s sex trafficking trial.

Michael Williams, 38, of Valdosta, Georgia, was sentenced in federal court in Brooklyn.

Williams, who had been described as being related to a former publicist for Kelly, went to Florida in June 2020 and set fire to a car that was outside a home where the witness was staying in an effort to keep the person from cooperating, authorities said.

Kelly’s trial was pending at the time; he was convicted in September of this year.

Williams’ attorney, Todd Spodek, said a sentence of five years would have been “sufficient but not greater than necessary in this case.” He said they were exploring their legal options.

Biden DHS Withholds Afghan Refugee Report

White House estimates up to 95,000 Afghans will be resettled in U.S.

The Biden administration has yet to present to Congress a report detailing the number of Afghan refugees in the United States and on overseas military bases—in violation of a law that required those disclosures by Dec. 1.

A provision in a government funding bill passed Sept. 30 required Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas to produce a detailed accounting of Afghan refugees both in the United States and abroad to Congress within 60 days. The Washington Free Beacon has learned that Congress has yet to receive any report from DHS.

The violation of a congressionally mandated deadline comes as more than 124,000 people were airlifted out of Afghanistan by Aug. 30, the last day of the United States' presence in the country. Of those, the White House says it anticipates up to 95,000 Afghans will be resettled in the United States. Many of the Afghans who arrived in the United States this fall lacked identification paperwork, raising terrorism and public safety concerns. The Free Beacon reported in September that Afghan refugees who arrived in the United States did not receive COVID-19 tests before departing Kabul.

Senate Republicans, such as James Lankford (Okla.), criticized the Biden administration's lack of compliance with the law at a time when Democrats are asking for $7 billion in additional funding for Afghanistan resettlement efforts.

"The Homeland Security Committee has not held a single public hearing on Afghan refugees or DHS oversight. Not one Biden administration official has testified under oath to the Homeland Security Committee on this process, even though the Biden administration has made DHS the lead agency on the resettlement process," Lankford said in a statement. "This is continued unchecked federal taxpayer spending with no oversight and no end in sight."

The report was mandated to provide the exact number of Afghan refugees in the United States, overseas military bases, and third-party countries. DHS was also required to provide "the number of Afghan evacuees at overseas bases or other staging areas who have been flagged as potential security concerns or risks."

Biden's chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan earned bipartisan criticism, with lawmakers questioning whether the White House was prepared for a flood of refugees desperate to avoid living under Taliban rule. Thousands of Afghans have already been resettled throughout the United States, although details about their identities are relatively unknown.

In September, two Afghan refugees were arrested on assault charges related to incidents at a Wisconsin military base. The following month, the Biden administration blocked a bipartisan delegation of lawmakers from entering a refugee facility in Qatar—a move which prompted anger from Democrats such as Rep. Lou Correa (D., Calif.), who said he was "furious."

A Free Beacon report revealed the Biden administration also refused to make public an annual report of immigrants violating the terms of their visas. Both former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump posted that report on the DHS website for at least the previous five years.

Man Sentenced In Child Sex Trafficking Case

A 22-year-old Stockton man was sentenced Thursday to more than 11 years in prison for sex trafficking of a child.

Angel Jesus Sanchez-Manriquez, 22, was sentenced Thursday, said Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert, in a case involving nearly 70 online posts advertising a 16-year-old's availability to perform sexual acts.

According to court documents, ads with photos of the victim nicknamed "Snow Bunny" were posted between October and December 2020.

Sanchez-Manriquez rented motel rooms in and around the Stockton area in which the victim performed sex acts for pay. After executing search warrants, law enforcement agents learned that Sanchez-Manriquez used his cellphone to take photographs and record videos of the victim engaged in sex acts with adults, including himself.

Australia Pfizer Covid vaccines for children aged 5-11 reportedly approved by TGA

Children aged 5-11 could be vaccinated against Covid before school returns next year, with a key hurdle about to be cleared.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is expected to announce on Sunday that it has provisionally approved Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine to be administered to children between the ages of five and eleven.

According to News Corp publications, the federal government plans to start rolling out the vaccine to kids in that age bracket from January 10, before school returns. They will receive a smaller dose than those aged 12 and over, about one-third the size.

ATAGI, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation, will now consider its advice on how to conduct the rollout.

“As we have done throughout the pandemic, we will act on medical advice to ensure all those who wish to receive a vaccine will have the opportunity to do so, wherever they are across Australia,” said Health Minister Greg Hunt.

Australia is well prepared for any scenario recommended by ATAGI and our government has been working closely with the manufacturer Pfizer, vaccine providers and states and territories to ensure Australian children will have access to this safe and effective vaccine as a priority.”

I have over 50 years experience developing, building and running ranges in several states and have never had an injury inflicted on another shooter. Ranges are vital for training hunter education classes and the organized shooting sports are vital for a healthy firearms economy, improving skills and gaining support for the Second Amendment. Handloaders appreciate covered bench rests and known ranges for working up safe and accurate loads. As far as liability, an NRA affiliated gun club can carry their insurance very reasonably.
