The union consists of sheet metal workers, service technicians, bus operators, engineers, conductors, sign workers, welders, production employees and more. SMART is the largest railroad operating union in North America, with more than 500 Transportation locals.

On Thursday SMART Union General Chairperson Roy Davis sent a letter to advise Union Pacific Company that the SMART Union strongly disagrees with the company’s “unilateral” requirement for COVID vaccinations.

SMART demanded an immediate response and demands that Carrier negotiate in good faith.

Family Files $20 Million Lawsuit Against Disney Cruise Line; Allege Toddler Sexually Assaulted at Ship’s Daycare

A Vermont couple has filed a federal lawsuit against Disney Cruise Line for $20 million, alleging that their three-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by an older child at a daycare facility on the ship as a result of poorly trained employees and understaffing at the daycare.

In the lawsuit, the parents are identified as Jane and John Doe, while the now five-year-old child is referred to as R.V. The cruise on the Disney Fantasy Ship took place from January 4, 2020, through January 11, 2020. The complaint alleges the sexual assault took place on January 9 and was carried out by a “significantly older child,” according to WCAX.

The assault allegedly took place at Disney’s Oceaneer Club daycare facility aboard the ship, according to WCAX.

According to the New York Post, the court documents allege that R.V. was “excessively groped and sexually touched” by the much older child.

The suit, filed on September 22, alleges that the daycare staff failed to notify the parents of the attack. According to the Associated Press, it also alleges that the daycare facility was understaffed and that employees lacked the proper training to work at the daycare. Moreover, according to the Associated Press, the suit alleges that the children at the daycare should have been separated by age to mitigate the risk of sexual abuse by older children and that employees should have placed the child in the nursery for younger children.

Disney Cruise Line Spokesperson Cynthia Martinez reportedly told the Orlando Sentinel that the allegations are “wholly without merit.”

“The plaintiffs’ first allegations were reported to the FBI, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office investigated them and determined them to be unfounded,” said Martinez in a statement. “The plaintiffs have now come back with a different story, which is equally unfounded, that another young female child acted inappropriately with their child. We will vigorously defend this case in court.”

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the lawsuit does not indicate how the family became aware of the assault. According to an attorney representing the family, the accused child has not been identified to the family, the outlet reports.

Attorney Michael Winkleman represents the plaintiffs.

“It’s easy to say this is a parent’s worst nightmare,” Winkleman said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “They went on a Disney cruise, they put their child in, basically, the daycare of Disney. This is about the last thing that they would ever imagine would happen.”

Poll: Americans Are Increasingly Wary of Government Overreach Under Biden

According to a Gallup poll released on Thursday, 52 percent of Americans believe the government is “doing too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses.” Fifty-four percent say the government has “too much power.”

Americans’ attitudes have shifted since last year, when a majority of Americans —54 percent — said the government should do more to solve problems. The poll report credited the change to desire for more security during the pandemic.

“Last year marked only the second time in Gallup’s 29-year trend that at least half of Americans endorsed an active role for the government on this item,” according to the poll report. “The other pro-government response came in the weeks after the 9/11 terror attacks amid heightened concern about terrorism and a surge in trust in government.”

Notably, Republicans have rarely wanted more government, even during crises. Democrats and independents, however, have widely shifted over the years. In 2020, 56 percent of independents wanted the government to do more to solve problems, compared with 38 percent now — even lower than 45 percent before the pandemic began in 2019.

Americans also prefer a “limited government role” when it comes to trade-offs between taxes and government services. Half of Americans say they prefer fewer services and lower taxes, while 19 percent want more services and higher taxes — 29 percent wants both to stay the same as they are now. Unsurprisingly, Democrats are in favor of higher taxes and more services than Republicans.

Data from the the National Assessment of Educational Progress showed that while 2020 average scores in reading and mathematics for 13-year-olds marked an improvement from the National Assessment of Educational Progress's earliest results in the 1970s, scores had declined since 2012.

U.S. News and World Report reported that this was the first major score drop in the subjects since the National Assessment of Educational Progress began tracking long-term academic achievement trends in the 1970s.

Perhaps even more troubling was the study's finding that some of the most significant drops were from students in the lowest-performing percentiles.

In math, for example, scores for 9-year-olds dropped for the 10th and 25th percentiles, and scores for 13-year-olds fell in the 10th, 25th, and 50th percentiles.

"None of these results are impressive," Peggy Carr, the associate commissioner in the assessment division of the National Center for Education Statistics, said according to U.S. News and World Report.

When she was 14 years old, Gabby Petito starred in a music video titled “Irreplaceable” to help spread awareness about violence against children after the Sandy Hook massacre.

She and her two younger brothers appeared in the 2013 video, whose song was produced and sung by fellow Long Island native Deb Henson, who told the Sun that its inspiration was the school shooting that left 26 people dead, including 20 kids, in Newtown, Conn.

In the video, Petito — whose death has been ruled a homicide after her body was found near a Wyoming campsite – is seen holding a sign that reads: “I’m irreplaceable.”

“The lyrics are almost eerie now. It’s ironic and tragic that she’s in this video and that this happened to her,” Henson told the news outlet.

“This song isn’t just about violence against kids. It’s also about domestic violence and violence in general. It’s just God awful really what happened to Gabby,” added Henson, who recalled the “magical weekend” when the video was shot.

“It was two days of filming on a Saturday and Sunday, and I just remember it was really hard for everybody because of the subject matter — and Gabby was such a bright light, even at 14,” she told News 12 Long Island.

Why did WEC succesfully keep the Green Party candidate off the 2020 presidential ballot after allowing the party to appear in 2016. Supporters of Hillary Clinton claimed the Green Party siphoned some 33,000 votes from her tally in 2016.

How much influence did Zuckerberg's money routed through CTCL have on election administrators, and did its grant requirements benefit one party over another?

Were events like Democracy in the Park an improper effort at vote gathering, and were any of those events coordinated with Democrats or the Biden campaign?
