UOttawa makes COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for everyone on campus

The University of Ottawa has made the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for all students, faculty, staff and visitors returning to campus on September 7.

UOttawa is the first university in Canada to institute a campus-wide COVID-19 vaccination mandate, though Seneca College introduced their mandatory vaccination policy earlier this summer.

In a statement released on Tuesday, UOttawa announced students, staff and visitors will have to “attest” their vaccination status beginning on September 1 using the online “COVID-19 Assessment Tool” questionnaire.

Prior to this announcement, the University of Ottawa was only going to require students living in residence and student-athletes to be vaccinated.

The decision to mandate vaccines for everyone on campus was made by the University’s Executive Committee of the Board of Governors.

“At the dawn of a fourth wave, it is even more important to have everybody vaccinated so that we can enhance our collective immunization against COVID-19 and the variants that are emerging,” the university stated.

According to the university, “any individual who cannot be vaccinated based on medical or other grounds recognized by the Ontario Human Rights Code can request an accommodation.”

UOttawa has one-upped the University of Waterloo, which will require students and staff to self-declare their COVID-19 vaccination status using a “Campus Check-In” system. Those who are not vaccinated will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test twice a week.

According to the University of Ottawa, fully vaccinated individuals must still wear masks while inside campus buildings.

Canada cites “diversity” in outer space as strength in UN report

Canada was the only nation to cite “diversity as a strength” in a United Nations General Assembly report on international security in outer space.

“Reducing space threats through norms, rules and principles of responsible behaviours” was published on July 13, 2021, and includes a submission from over two dozen UN member states including China, the Russian Federation, Iran, France, Germany, the US and others.

Canada’s submission, dated to April 29, 2021, includes an entire section dedicated to diversity in space.

“As a champion of the full, meaningful and equal participation of women in all aspects of disarmament, Canada welcomes the emphasis on the full involvement and equal participation of women and men in discussions on reducing space threats through responsible behaviours and the need to assess the possible differentiated impacts of such threats,” Canada’s submission reads.

In comparison, the US’ submission provided a detailed breakdown of existing space threats such as anti-satellite missiles, cyberthreats to satellite command, directed energy weapons and interference with communications.

“Some States are developing, operationalizing and stockpiling a variety of anti-satellite weapons that could be used to, or have the potential to, deny, disrupt, degrade or destroy civil, commercial or national security space capabilities and services,” the US’ submission claims.

“Some of these anti-satellite weapons could be used to deny or disrupt space services temporarily, while others are designed to permanently degrade or destroy satellites.”

Meanwhile, China took the opportunity to blast the US in its own submission, accusing the nation of publicly declaring “outer space as a new war-fighting domain” before taking a shot at the Space Force.

All member states were asked by the UN to provide a submission to the report in response to resolution 75/36 which deals with maintaining international law and order in outer space.

The resolution urges “all States, when developing, planning and executing their space activities, to remain committed to the peaceful exploration and use of outer space and to refrain from conducting activities contrary to their obligations under international law, including those that could threaten the ability of all States to freely use and explore outer space, now and in the future.”

CBC omitted First Nations bands from industries to be affected by mandatory vaccines

A CBC News report on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement that his government would pursue making vaccines mandatory for federally-regulated industries omitted the fact that the mandate would also apply to First Nations bands and services.

The Aug. 5 article by CBC journalist Darren Major, “Trudeau asks top public servant to look into mandatory vaccination for federal workers,” made no mention of First Nations communities when listing impacted groups and sectors.

“The prime minister also said the government is looking into making vaccines mandatory in federally regulated industries, such as the airline, banking and rail sectors,” the article said.

In reality, First Nations band councils and some reserve services are considered to be federally regulated.

In an email to True North, a CBC spokesperson said the article merely highlighted “some” affected areas.

“The story was a very broad overview of a new proposal, and highlighted some areas but obviously not every area. As this story continues to unfold and policies firm up, we will report on potential impacts where relevant,” CBC spokesperson Chuck Thompson said.

During his announcement last week, Trudeau urged those “hesitant” about the COVID-19 vaccines to get vaccinated anyway.

“It’s time for people to get vaccinated, and for those who are hesitant to go and get their first and second doses,” said Trudeau.

“That’s why I’ve asked the clerk of the Privy Council, who is responsible for the federal public service, to look at mandatory vaccinations for federal employees.”

According to official statistics, Indigenous Canadians have the second highest rates of vaccine hesitancy. Statistics Canada data shows that only 71.8% of Indigenous are willing or very willing to take a COVID-19 vaccine. The only other group to have a higher rate of vaccine hesitancy were black Canadians with only 56.6% reporting that they would take the COVID-19 vaccine.

When further broken down by location, Indigenous people living on reserves had lower rates of vaccine willingness than those living off reserves. First Nations people living off reserves had a willingness rate of 74.2% while Métis on reserves reported a 67.8% willingness and Inuit on reserve reported a 72.5% willingness rate.

Feds contacted WE Charity before awarding group no-competition contracts: Procurement Ombudsman

A year-long investigation into a string of sweetheart contracts between the Trudeau government and WE Charity shows that departments typically contacted WE for estimated costs before officially documenting requirements.

The investigation focused on six contracts, all approved prior to the $43.5 million COVID economic response grant aimed at students which was to be administered by WE Charity.

“In this situation not all prospective suppliers would be treated equally,” wrote Procurement Ombudsman Alexander Jeglic in the Procurement Practice Review Of Non-Competitive Contracts Involving We Charity report, released earlier this week.

WE Charity Contract Cancelled After 16 Hours

The Office of the Procurement Ombudsman (OPO) received a request on July 2, 2020 from three members of Parliament to review federal departmental contracts awarded to the WE Charity. The request was submitted one week after the Trudeau Liberals announced that the WE Charity had been selected to administer the Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG), which was part of the government's COVID-19 economic response.

Sixteen hours later, on July 3, 2020, it was announced by the federal government and the WE Charity that it had been mutually agreed that the WE Charity would not administer the CSSG.

After an assessment, the Procurement Ombudsman confirmed that there were reasonable grounds to launch an investigation into contracts awards to WE and its affiliates.

Which Departments Contracted WE Charity?

In total, the OPO identified six contracts awarded by four federal departments to WE Charity since 2017.

Six Contracts Awarded Without Competition

All six above contracts were valued at $40,000 or below, and all six contracts were awards without competition.

The OPO's objective in reviewing these contracts was to identify if the contracts qualified as fully justified as exempt from the non-competitive solicitation process.

For all six contracts, the OPO found that “certain issues regarding fairness” were identified, even though the decision to award these contracts without competition was consistent with the exceptions set out in the Government Contracts Regulations.

Two of Six Contracts Had Missing or Incomplete Documents

While the dollar value of the six contracts was in line with the thresholds described in the Regulations, there was no clear evidence that the departments requested proposed pricing from WE Charity prior to documenting the estimate:

The four departments have responded to the OPO with their plans to ensure fairness in procurement. Among the planned actions includes reminding Public Health Agency of Canada managers that they should “endeavor to establish a dollar estimate of a procurement requirement prior to contacting prospective suppliers” and to encourage Privy Council Office team members to “complete additional procurement training courses to improve individual knowledge”.

A shocking new video that recently surfaced on social media shows a man getting violently shoved to the ground as he approaches a group of Vancouver police officers that are harassing an old lady.

The man who recorded the unprovoked attack exclaims to the officers: “oh i got that on video man! Thats f–in bad, he didn’t do s–t.”

After realizing they were caught on camera, two officers begin to chase after the man to “get that video.” The recording ends as they approach and he is telling them to “back up.”

The incident reportedly happened sometime last fall in the height of the ‘pandemic,’ meaning these gestapo were most likely enforcing some sort of Covid mandate on the maskless elderly woman.

The previously unseen footage has renewed an Office for Police Complaint Commissioner’s investigation. They had looked into the incident last fall, but had concluded that the allegations against the officer were “unsubstantiated.”

Global News Canada spoke with some of the officials from OPCC that handled the botched investigation:

According to Vancouver police, “This incident was investigated last fall by the OPCC [Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner] and was concluded unsubstantiated.

“This video came to our attention this weekend, and so we have now sent the video back to the OPCC for further review.”

The OPCC responded that, “The video may constitute new evidence that did not form part of the original investigation. The OPCC is currently reviewing the investigation in light of the video provided today and will determine what, if any, further steps are required under the Police Act.”

This is just the latest dystopian example of police using excessive force on citizens since the covid-19 lockdowns gave them unprecedented authority. Too many of them are either drunk on power or blindly “following orders” from their globalist overlords.

Ontario says COVID jab not mandatory for school kids, no segregation based on vaccine status

'Any policy to penalize students, athletes, or employees for declining the experimental COVID vaccines is antithetical to a free and equal society,' civil liberties lawyer James Kitchen says.

THORNHILL, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) – The Ontario government says it will not be mandating that students and staff have COVID vaccinations before being allowed to return to class and that schoolchildren will not be segregated based on their vaccine status.

“With the respect to vaccines, our government’s been clear, our premier’s been clear that we will not mandate vaccine requirement for schools and for staff at this point, that’s not a decision point we are going to proceed with,” Ontario’s Education Minister Stephen Lecce told reporters last Wednesday.

“Look, the government has made the decision in the context of mandating vaccines and we’re not going to do that we’ll respect the choices individuals will make.”

Lecce made the comments at a school in Thornhill as part of an announcement of $25 million in funding to install high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters in Ontario’s schools before the start of the school year in September.

He was joined by Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore, who despite suggesting in late July that kids without COVID jabs could face different rules than those with the injection, now said this would not happen.

“I do not anticipate any difference [in] approach whether a child’s vaccinated or unvaccinated on any activities within the school setting,” said Moore.

Moore added that schools would not be “knowledgeable of” a student’s immune status, adding that “there shouldn’t be any barriers or stigmatization of children who have not received a vaccine in any way in normal activities throughout the school year.”

Moore made the remarks after being asked by a reporter about his earlier comments touting a “terrific” advantage of being “two-dose immunized by being able to stay in school and attend sports and participate fully in all of the social activities of the school setting.”

He said that the province has done “remarkably well through a non-mandatory means” of “vaccinating” the Ontario population with COVID-19 jabs, with the “ultimate” goal being a 90 percent total injection rate.

Recently, Ontario’s ministry of education released its COVID-19 school reopening plan, which does not stipulate that school kids would be set apart based on one’s jabs status.

Only ‘fully vaccinated’ people will be allowed to visit popular Canadian Island province

The unvaccinated will only be able to visit the island under severe restrictions, including 8-day isolation upon arrival.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND (LifeSiteNews) – The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) has introduced a vaccine “Pass” which allows only Canadians who have been “fully vaccinated” with COVID-19 injections to visit without restrictions. Those who have chosen to not get the COVID-19 jabs face many hurdles in order to visit the province.

“The PEI Pass allows returning Islanders and visitors who meet the appropriate criteria to be exempt from self-isolation when entering the province. The PEI Pass can be used multiple times providing the conditions of the pass are met on entry to PEI,” reads a PEI government webpage regarding the island’s PEI Pass.

The PEI Pass was first introduced in late June for travelers residing within the “the Atlantic Provinces and the Magdalen Islands.” On July 18, the pass was expanded to include all “fully vaccinated” Canadian travelers as well as American travelers (starting on August 8).

The pass allows a person who has been jabbed to come and go to the island as they please, though even then one must agree to “be tested on entry as directed by public health officials.”

If a person has only had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, they are allowed to apply for the PEI Pass so long as they are a resident of the island or come from one of the four neighboring Atlantic provinces and have had the shot at least 21 days before arrival.

According to the PEI government, the “appropriate criteria” to be eligible for a PEI Pass for all Canadians and Americans means having been “fully vaccinated (two doses) with a COVID-19 vaccine.”

Those who are unvaccinated can still visit the island but under severe restrictions. They must sign a declaration form, isolate for eight days upon arrival, and take a COVID-19 test upon entry as well as on the eighth day of their quarantine.

There are also exemptions given on a case-by-case basis for “compassionate or work purposes.”

Kids under 12 who have not been jabbed are allowed to travel with a parent with a PEI Pass, but those 12 and up will need to apply for it.

To apply for a PEI Pass a person must upload their COVID-19 “Vaccine Record” online. Once approved, one will receive their PEI Pass via email.

According to the PEI government, September 12 is the estimated date when they will no longer have any screening measures at their provincial borders. Despite this, the government says that there will be “some” isolation, as well as testing measures to be “recommended for unvaccinated and/or partially vaccinated travellers.” Continue…

An assistant professor job posting for the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine asks prospective applicants to have expertise in “critical race theory.”

The advertisement which was last updated on August 5, 2021 is for the school’s Equity, Department of Community Health Sciences. As an additional requirement, the ad also asks that applicants have experience in “advocacy and activism.”

“The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor,” the ad reads.

“This role requires expertise in the areas of community development, advocacy and activism, leadership and innovation, professional and research ethics, and inclusive practices. Areas of expertise may include mad studies, queer studies, critical disability studies, health equity, population health, social justice and critical race theory.”

Critical race theory, which originated as an interpretive lens in the field of legal studies, has received newfound attention in the US following a campaign by parents concerned about its introduction into school curriculums.

To date, a number of state school boards have passed legislation halting the teaching of critical race theory.

Critics of critical race theory argue that the theory is inherently racist since proponents of it argue for race essentialism and have made the underlying claim that all white people are racist.

Although the debate around critical race theory is not as politically charged in Canada, past reporting by True North shows that critical race theory has been and is currently being peddled in Canadian schools.

According to a 2020 Toronto District School Board (TDSB) presentation, parents were lectured using critical race theory concepts like “colorblindness racism.”

“Colorblindness is the racial ideology that posits the best way to end discrimination is by treating individuals as equally as possible, without regard to race, culture, or ethnicity,” claimed TDSB presenters.

Chinese court sentences Michael Spavor to 11 years in prison and to be deported

Wrongfully imprisoned Canadian businessman Michael Spavor was convicted by a Chinese court of espionage and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The Chinese court also ordered Spavor to be deported, though it is not clear if the Canadian will be deported prior to or after his sentence is served.

Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig were arrested on trumped-up charges in 2018 in a move that is widely believed to have been retaliation for Canada’s arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou on a US warrant.

Spavor’s sentencing comes as Meng’s lawyers push Canadian courts not to extradite her to the US.

Kovrig’s trial was concluded in March. However, no word has been given about a trial date.

On Tuesday, a different Chinese court upheld a death sentence for another Canadian Robert Schellenberg. Schellenberg was convicted on charges of drug smuggling. The Canadian government condemned the decision and is calling on the Chinese to grant clemency.

“What I can say is we condemn in the strongest possible terms this death sentence for Mr. Schellenberg, we continue to seek clemency on his behalf. Canada opposes the death penalty in all cases and that continues with respect to that particular case,” Justice Minister David Lametti told reporters.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole accused the Chinese regime of using the death sentence for political purposes. O’Toole also said Canada should seriously consider boycotting next year’s Beijing Winter Olympics and warned that Canadians are not safe in China.

“The denial of Robert Schellenberg’s appeals must be seen for what it is — a foreign government planning to take the life of a Canadian for political reasons,” he said.

“The use of the death penalty is abhorrent. But to impose it for political reasons is inexcusable.”

Swiss Police Threaten To Stop Enforcing COVID-19 Rules

Police in Switzerland have threatened to stop enforcing COVID-19 rules over fears that the measures are disproportionately undermining the fundamental rights of citizens.

A group representing police officers in the Alpine country wrote a letter to the Swiss Federation of Police Officers (FSFP) warning of potential insubordination within the force over the enforcement of draconian laws.

“If the measures were to conflict with the general opinion of the population, disproportionately limiting their fundamental rights, many police officers would no longer be willing to apply them,” the group wrote in the letter.

While the letter was received favorably by lockdown skeptics, the FSFP attempted to dismiss it by claiming it only represented a small number of police officers.

Adrian Gaugler of the Conference of Cantonal Police Commanders went further, threatening the officers with sanctions if they refused to enforce the measures.

“An officer who refuses to enforce the law can be punished,” said Gaugler.

“Police refusing to enforce coronavirus measures is not unique to Switzerland,” writes Chris Tomlinson.

“Earlier this year, police in the Canadian province of Ontario rejected new powers given by the provincial government that would have allowed them to stop any motorist or pedestrian and demand to know where they live and why they were not at home.”

As we previously highlighted, after lockdown was imposed in Switzerland, calls to private investigators soared as a result of people wanting their neighbors investigated for making too much noise.

Attention Turns From Tokyo Olympics To Beijing 2022 Amid Calls For Boycott

As the Tokyo Summer Olympics closed on Aug. 8, attention has turned back to the controversy surrounding the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The Tokyo Olympics games ran relatively smoothly during the COVID-19 pandemic, although it was not open to spectators.

The United States scored the most gold medals with 39, with China coming in second with 38. The United States also ranked first in the overall medal tally with 113 medals, including 41 silver medals, and 33 bronze medals—far surpassing China, again in second place, with 88 medals.

As the host country, Japan performed the best in its history since participating in the Olympics, winning a total of 58 medals, including 27 gold.

While the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus causing the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging around the world, there are only six months before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The pandemic is just one of the problems that the Beijing Winter Olympics is facing.

CTV, Canada’s largest private television network, conducted a poll of thousands of Canadians during the Tokyo Olympics. It announced its results on the closing day of the Tokyo Olympics showing that more than 60 percent of respondents supported a boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

In recent years, the Chinese regime has been accused by human rights experts and organizations, liberal democratic nations, and United Nations experts of mass detention of at least one million Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.

Policies amounting to cultural extermination and experiences of political brainwashing has been characterized by U.S. administrations as “genocide.”

But while the ruling CCP continues to push back against the “genocide” accusations, more and more international organizations and countries are calling for the 2022 Winter Olympics to be moved from Beijing.

In February, more than 180 human rights organizations issued a joint open letter urging world leaders to take a diplomatic boycott of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing, including not sending leaders or dignitaries to China to participate in any activity in protest of the regime’s mass human rights abuses.

The letter cited accusations of serious human rights violations by the Chinese communist regime in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. It also pointed out that Beijing has increased threats to regional security across the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea, and the Sino-Indian border in recent years.

However, on the grounds of political neutrality and an inability to change a country’s legal and political system, the International Olympic Committee refused to the request from international organizations to change the venue of the 2022 Winter Olympics from Beijing to other countries.

So far, no government has officially announced a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics, but lawmakers in the United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom are all calling on their governments to take action.

Switzerland, home of the WEF, has taken the necessary precautions to still be able to operate in the event of a cyber attack. However, most countries have not. Nearly all of the US military's equipment and operations rely on internet-connected computers and software. This combined with nearly all transactions and banking relying on computers leaves the US, like most other nations, susceptible to cyber attacks which can potentially be more disruptive than covid lockdowns.

Cyber Polygon could be used as a pretext to cut citizens off from the internet and only permit access under more stringent regulations, which may include a shift to digital currency and the exclusion of those resisting this tyrannical system.

The objectives of Cyber Polygon to ensure that every person in the world is behaving in accordance with the dictates of government under a single philosophy and a single system of controls including a Digital ID.

This is the plan outlined in Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation, where he who hath not the mark could neither buy nor sell.

Ontario, Canada is going to roll out a digital ID later this year. Similarly, several years ago the Jamaican government announced plans for a digital/biometric ID with fingerprints and retina scans. All of the Covid-19 vaccines are still in phase three clinical trials until 2023 and this is the reason why they have not been granted full marketing authorisation; instead being given emergency use authorisation across the world.

However, despite still being in phase three clinical trials the Pfizer mRNA vaccine is currently being offered to pregnant women in the United Kingdom, and the reason being given for this is that the authorities claim the Delta Covid-19 variant is proving to be far more dangerous for women who are pregnant compared to previous alleged strains of Covid-19.

Pregnant women are advised to avoid smoked fish, soft cheese, wet paint, coffee, herbal tea, vitamin supplements, processed junk foods among a vast array of other things. Yet for some reason the authorities are desperate to give them an experimental gene therapy that may potentially protect them from a disease that they are already at very low risk of suffering from.

I was not sure where to post this. Hope it’s okay. So I recently was hired at a new job. They require me to get vaccinated or show proof of exemption. Mind you I have been totally against the vaccine and have refused to get it but I have been without work for fourth months. So even though I felt sick and nervous and something bad was going to happen I chose to get my shot today.

10 minutes after my shot in my left arm I started to feel dizzy. The lady seemed concerned and told me to wait another 15 but I said I’ll be fine and walked out. 9 minutes later the left side of my mouth started to droop to the left and my tongue fell to the left side of my mouth. I called the advice nurse and became confused, not being able to tell her basic information about myself.

I stuttered, slurred my words, and felt literally intoxicated. She said get somewhere safe and wait three minutes she needs to talk her doctor. Answers the phone again panicked and says call 911 we think you are having a stroke.

I call 911 and the ambulance shows up I tell them I just got my vaccine. They tell me I’m not having a stroke and says I am just having a panic attack. They told me the hospital won’t be able to do anything for me and to go back in my house , lay down, and watch a movie.

I decided to drive myself to the ER. I told the doctor I was happy, healthy, and fine before getting my shot. He performed multiple tests and diagnosed me with Bell’s palsy. At that point I could no longer blink my left eye, and I’m biting the left side of my tongue because it’s falling to the side, and I can’t smile correctly.

He claims this was not from the shot and says it is just a coincidence even tells me to go ahead and get the second dose in a few weeks. I now have to take six prednisone pills twice a day, and five viral pills twice a day which causes insomnia and weight gain and a shit ton of other things. I do not feel like myself, I am stuttering, confused, can’t find the words.

I am traumatized and I will do whatever I have to do to warn others of this. How ironic I get the shot on my left side and my Bell’s palsy is on the left side. I will never get the second dose.

Elections Nova Scotia has announced that workers are allowed to stop counting next week's ballots at midnight, amid calls from the incumbent Liberal leader to bring COVID vaccine passports to the province.

The 41st provincial general election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 17, and Elections Nova Scotia's director of policy and communications Naomi Shelton told media that an increase in early voting is “likely” to push vote counting past midnight.

Shelton went on to explain that that chief electoral officer can decide to stop the count if it seems like the vote count would head into the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 18:

“Due to worker fatigue, he may need to consider ending the count at midnight and reconvening the next day at 10 a.m.,” Shelton said Monday.

“Hopefully that is a last resort, but we want people to be aware of that so that you're prepared in case that happens.”

Early ballots can't be counted until the polls close at 8 p.m. ET.

COVID precautions for the election are already in place. Workers and voters must wear masks while inside the voting location and voters are encouraged to bring their own pen for filling out paperwork. Ballots will be filled in with single-use pencils.

The Liberal government will not reveal the names of Canadian publishers who benefited from nearly $61 million in subsidies advertised as “emergency relief.”

Media outlets were given the subsidies on top of substantial federal support already offered to them through the $600 million bailout fund passed by the Liberals in 2018. Additionally, publishers can also apply to receive funding through the Canada Periodical Fund.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, a July 21 letter to the House of Commons heritage committee makes no mention of the media companies’ identities.

“These measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to both a robust, diverse and sustainable news ecosystem and ensuring Canadians can receive the timely information they require from their government,” wrote Minister of Canadian Heritage Steven Guilbeault.

The letter revealed that numerous organizations were showered with $60.8 million in taxpayer funds to convey so-called “timely information (readers) require from their government.”

When pressed on revealing the names of the publishers and how much they received, Canadian Heritage staff would not disclose that information.

To date, left-wing progressive outlets like The Narwhal and others have been showered with hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars. In March of this year, it was revealed that The Narwhal was awarded $355,000 by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Additionally, the legacy media company FP Newspapers Inc. received $6.2 million in taxpayer funds from the Liberal government.

The Trudeau government has also indicated it would seek to give additional funding for the CBC, which already receives well over one billion taxpayer dollars despite continuously losing advertising revenues and viewership.

A campaign by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) hopes to make Canadians aware of how much debt the Liberal government has accrued on their behalf.

The cross-country initiative will include physical billboards and social media ads that seek to warn Canadians about the country’s growing debt.

“Deficit spending is out of control and we’re pushing politicians to be honest about how they’re going to pay back the $1-trillion debt,” said the CTF’s Federal Director, Franco Terrazzano.

“More deficits mean more debt that Canadian kids and grandkids will need to pay back. Politicians need to rein in their deficit spending so future generations aren’t weighed down by soaring government debt.”

Billboards are expected to appear in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, while social media ads will be broadcast to numerous communities.

When broken down based on each person’s individual share of the federal debt, Canadians can expect to pay about $29,000 per person for the government’s reckless spending.

“Politicians owe taxpayers the truth about how they are going to pay for this $1-trillion debt and the truth is taxpayers are going to get clobbered if politicians don’t tighten their belts. Interest charges on the debt siphon away billions that can’t go to health care or lower taxes,” said Terrazzano.

Under the Liberal government’s watch, Canada’s deficit has also grown as a result of reckless spending.

According to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, Canada will not be able to get out of a deficit until 2070 due to the Liberal government’s spending programs.

“Overall, it paints a picture of unsustainability for finances, both federal and provincial combined,” Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux said.

After enrolling tens of thousands of people into clinical trials, both Moderna and Pfizer committed further acts of science fraud by vaccinating the placebo group in follow-up appointments! By vaccinating the control group, Moderna and Pfizer destroyed any prospect of obtaining long-term safety and effectiveness data for their “vaccines.” These vaccine companies violated basic scientific standards for conducting clinical trials. Every participant who was in the control group (not vaccinated), was ultimately offered the vaccines. After being pressured to take the vaccines, almost every person in the control group took the vaccines — forever obscuring the data.

These participants are still engaged in two years of follow-up research that was supposed to compare the vaccinated group to the placebo group. However, there is no longer a placebo group! Many important questions about vaccine safety and effectiveness will go unanswered because Pfizer and Moderna rigged the trials.

Dr. Carlos Fierro of the Johnson County Clinical Trials in Lenexa, Kansas confirmed that every participant in the control arm was called back and told to vaccinate as soon as the FDA gave emergency use authorization for the vaccines.

“During that visit we discussed the options, which included staying in the study without the vaccine,” he says, “and amazingly there were people — a couple of people — who chose that.” Dr. Fierro was shocked that a couple people in the control group would want to remain unvaccinated to preserve the integrity of the study. After the clinical trials were intentionally defrauded, there is NO comparison group of statistical value left to judge the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines. Dr. Fierro admits “it’s a loss from a scientific standpoint,” but he justified the scientific fraud, saying “it’s the right thing to do” given the circumstances.

FDA cannot grant full approval for covid vaccines because the clinical data has been permanently obscured

By eliminating the control arm, vaccine companies cannot guarantee how long protection lasts or whether the vaccines contribute to the rise of spike protein mutations and subsequent variants. A clinical trial specialist at Stanford University, Dr. Steven Goodman, said, “We don’t know how long protections last.” We don’t know efficacy against variants — for which we definitely need a good control arm — and we also don’t know if there are any differences in any of these parameters by age or race or infirmity.”

By eliminating the control arm, the vaccine industry can make the false assumption that the unvaccinated are to blame for the rise of new variants. But there’s absolutely no data to back that assertion. It’s more than likely that the mutations are a result of the large-scale vaccine campaign, which puts selective pressure on the spike protein to mutate.

Right now, the FDA is under intense political pressure to grant full authorization of these vaccines, but because Moderna and Pfizer defrauded the long-term trials, the FDA cannot legally move forward with full FDA approval. This could be the reason why the Biden regime is illegally pushing vaccine mandates for federal employees and the military before full FDA authorization — because there is no way to scientifically or legally justify authorization in the first place. There is no data to guarantee the safety and effectiveness of these shots and there is no longer any route to obtain that data from a clinical standpoint.

In New York City, California, Australia, etc., the people have permitted government such control over our daily lives that we have to ask it for permission to control our bodies, to move freely, to practice religion, to educate our children ourselves, to protest, etc.

"Wakeup Call": Pfizer Vax Only 42% Effective Against Infection In July

This week, Dr. Fauci confirmed that "at some time in the future" everyone will likely need a booster shot for the Covid-19 vaccine due to "fading efficacy."

Now, Axios reports that a new preprint study which has 'already grabbed the attention of top Biden administration officials' over the vaccines' effectiveness against new variants, with Pfizer's jab being of particular concern.

The study found the Pfizer vaccine was only 42% effective against infection in July, when the Delta variant was dominant. "If that's not a wakeup call, I don't know what is," a senior Biden official told Axios.

The study, conducted by nference and the Mayo Clinic, compared the effectiveness of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the Mayo Clinic Health System over time from January to July. -Axios

The overall figures suggest that the vaccines provide robust (yet lower-than advertised) immunity early on, only to sharply drop in efficacy over time.

Between January and July, Moderna's vaccine was found to be 86% effective against infection over the study period, while Pfizer's was 76%. As far as hospitalization, Moderna's vaccine was 92% effective, while Pfizer's was 85%.

Bringing the averages down, of course, was the sharp drop in efficacy observed in July with Moderna proving just 72% effective against infection and Pfizer clocking in at 42%.

In other states such as Florida, the risk of infection in July among those who had taken the Moderna vaccine was around 60% lower than for people full vaccinated with Pfizer.

Why it matters: Although it has yet to be peer-reviewed, the study raises serious questions about both vaccines' long-term effectiveness, particularly Pfizer's.

It's unclear whether the results signify a reduction in effectiveness over time, a reduced effectiveness against Delta, or a combination of both.

“Based on the data that we have so far, it is a combination of both factors," said Venky Soundararajan, a lead author of the study. "The Moderna vaccine is likely — very likely — more effective than the Pfizer vaccine in areas where Delta is the dominant strain, and the Pfizer vaccine appears to have a lower durability of effectiveness.”

He added that his team is working on a follow-up study that will try to differentiate between the durability of the two vaccines and their effectiveness against Delta.

CDC recommends camps for COVID “High-Risk” individuals

The CDC has released a report that has sparked much online controversy, as it details the possible guidelines, processes and approach to gathering those who are deemed “high-risk” in relation to coronavirus, and placing them in a “camp/sector or community.”

Some of the types of “high-risk” individuals who it is suggested could be placed in camps include pregnant women who also have heart disease, those who are HIV positive or have AIDS, adults with Down syndrome and those above the age of 60, for example.

The report cites multiple British studies, including one by the British government, that states that the U.K. already has a list of high-risk individuals called their “Shielded Patient List.”

“Shielding” is the name of the approach that involves quarantining the aforementioned into camps/communities/neighbourhoods.

The U.K. Department of Health and Social Care lists the following on their "Shielded Patient List":

Another study cited by the CDC document is “Guidance for the prevention of COVID-19 infections among high-risk individuals in camps and camp-like settings.”

This directly outlines how to implement the camps, along with a suggested list of occupants of its own.

In total, the CDC publication of approximately 2,500 words cites sources to state how citizens should be housed, determining that they should not have contact with uninfected individuals. Essentially, “shielding” is intended to prevent the spread of infection among “high-risk” individuals from multiple expansive lists.

The CDC concludes:

The shielding approach (putting people in camps) is an ambitious undertaking, which may prove effective in preventing COVID-19 infection among high-risk populations, if well managed. While the premise is based on mitigation strategies used in the United Kingdom, there is no empirical evidence whether this approach will increase, decrease or have no effect on morbidity and mortality during the COVID-19 epidemic in various humanitarian settings.

It continues, "The shielding approach is intended to alleviate stress on the healthcare system and circumvent the negative economic consequences of long-term containment measures and lockdowns.”

Fraudsters jump to take advantage of Quebec’s vaccine passport system

Fraudulent vaccine passports are already spreading like wildfire online following Quebec’s decision to make them mandatory for non-essential public spaces like bars, festivals, arenas and elsewhere.

According to Le Journal de Montreal, fake vaccine passports are already being sold over the internet for amounts ranging from $200 to $515.

Reporters reached out to prospective sellers of the fraudulent passports over the encrypted messaging application Telegram.

The outlet notes that within 30 minutes of expressing interest in buying a fake vaccine passport, reporters had already received ten offers from fraudsters.

Le Journal also notes that most of the fraudulent sellers appear to be from Europe or elsewhere abroad.

Photos of the chats show various QR codes posing as official government passes.

Earlier this week, the Government of Quebec announced the most sweeping vaccine passport program in Canada.

As of September 1st, unvaccinated Canadians will be denied access to “non-essential public spaces” such as restaurants, sporting events and elsewhere if they can’t provide proof of vaccination.

Quebec Premier Francois Legault has since refused to allow the matter to be debated in the provincial legislature because it would expose Quebecers to “conspiracy theories.”

People will be required to have a code on a smartphone application which will be scanned upon entry to public spaces.

The quick response by fraudsters seeking to cash in on Quebec’s vaccine passport system seems to validate concerns by critics of the system who claim that enforcing vaccine passes would open up a quagmire of issues for local businesses, the provincial government and others.

A poll by Abacus Data which surveyed 3,000 voters found that a majority of Canadians wanted a change in their federal government.

The national survey took place between August 6 and August 11, just ahead of an expected election call by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speculated to take place this upcoming weekend.

Abacus Data is a Canadian polling firm based out of Ottawa, Ontario, which regularly gets cited by legacy media outlets like the Globe and Mail, National Post and others.

According to the poll results, 66% of people surveyed said that it was either definitely time for change or a good time to have a change in government. On the other hand, only 33% of Canadians stated that they wished to see the Liberals re-elected.

Despite the desire for change, the Trudeau Liberals continue to score first place in the polls, followed by O’Toole’s Conservatives.

Abacus Data found that 37% of Canadians intend to vote for the Liberals, while 28% said they will be casting their ballot for a Conservative candidate. Meanwhile, the NDP trails behind at 20%, followed by the Green Party which sits at 5%.

Support for the Liberals is highest in Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces, while the Conservatives outpoll the Liberals in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Past analysis of Abacus Data polling has shown that the pollster has skewed lower for Conservatives than the average of Canada’s polls.

Other recent polls by Angus Reid show a much more narrow lead by the Liberals. A poll published on Thursday by Angus Reid found that the Liberals only had a 5-point lead over the Conservatives, in comparison to the 9-point lead reported by Abacus Data.

Additionally, a recent Angus Reid poll found that O’Toole was leading on economic issues like government spending, economic recovery and energy over other leaders, whereas Trudeau only led on COVID-19 handling.

Former Conservative MP and leadership candidate Pierre Lemieux has been denied permission to run in this year’s election as a Conservative, True North has learned.

Lemieux, a social conservative, was seeking the party’s nomination in the eastern Ontario riding of Glengarry—Prescott—Russell, which he represented for three terms from 2006 to 2015.

He lost to Liberal Francis Drouin in 2015 and failed to retake the seat in 2019, which the party says makes him ineligible to run again.

“In accordance with our nomination rules, an applicant must not have been an unsuccessful candidate in both of the two prior federal general elections,” a Conservative Party of Canada spokesperson said in an email statement to True North.

The rules allow for a candidate to receive a waiver from this requirement if authorized by the party’s National Council president and executive director, then approved by the National Candidate Selection Committee (NCSC).

Lemieux requested a waiver when he filed his nomination application in January but was only informed that it was not granted on August 6, according to a source connected with Lemieux’s campaign.

Former Conservative MP Costas Menegakis, who lost his races in 2015 and 2019, is the Conservative candidate for Richmond Hill, also in Ontario.

In 2006, Lemieux became the first Conservative to win Glengarry—Prescott—Russell since 1958, by a margin of just 203 votes, which he expanded significantly over the next two elections. He sought the Conservative party’s leadership in 2017, finishing in seventh place out of 14 candidates with 7.67% of the points.

In July, the NCSC disqualified former Conservative MP and leadership candidate Brad Trost, also a prominent social conservative, from seeking the nomination in a Saskatchewan riding, though this decision was overturned on appeal to the National Council. Trost ultimately lost the nomination race.

On Thursday, the Conservative party’s candidate in Yukon Jonas Smith said he had been disqualified over opposition to vaccine passports and mandatory vaccination policies. The Conservatives said Smith was removed over his ”unwillingness to support public health guidelines.”

It now looks that this worst case scenario is in play after Chinese authorities on Wednesday closed a major container terminal at the Port of Ningbo after a dock worker tested positive for COVID, raising fears among traders that supply chain disruptions that occurred when Yantian terminal in Shenzhen reduced output by 70% for a month earlier this summer would be repeated.

According to FreightWaves which cited local media reports and logistics operators, all operations at the Ningbo Meidong Container Terminal, also referred to as the Meishan Terminal, were immediately suspended following the positive test results.

“With this sudden suspension, we expect a delay in planned sailings that might affect your cargo planning. Please know that we are working on alternatives, and hope for your understanding on a matter that is beyond our control,” German vessel operator Hapag-Lloyd said in a customer notice posted on its website, anticipating the howls of rage as already stratospheric shipping rates are poised to surge.

There are five container terminals in Ningbo. The port’s decision to shut down vessel and gate operations for at least a day effectively eliminated 20% of the port’s capacity.

Ningbo is the third-largest container port in the world after Shanghai and Singapore, but the most . It handled more freight in the first seven months of this year - 18.7 million twenty-foot equivalent units - than any other port in China, the Ministry of Transportation said last week.

The consequences of the shutdown are already apparent: on Thursday, Mediterranean Shipping Co. pushed back estimated arrival times for two vessels departing Ningbo to the U.S. The MSC Danit, on the Sequoi service, is now scheduled to arrive on the U.S. west coast on Sept. 15, and the Maersk Seville, on the Lone Star service and part of the 2M Alliance, will arrive at its first east coast port on Oct. 2, according to an updated schedule issued Thursday.

The problem here is that most Jews have benefited enormously from Jewish Power. Ivy league schools are 25% occupied by 100% jews, likely 40% for people with some Jewish blood. Jews always hire jews first, and this has been going on for centuries. To just say "Jews in positions of power and influence" does not even start to re-balance the scales of justice. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh unveiled his party’s platform on Thursday ahead of an expected election call this weekend.

While the NDP platform promises billions in new spending, the platform is uncosted.

Jampacked in the 115-page platform, which shares many similarities with the party’s 2019 promises, are a wealth tax, a promise to lower the voting age to 16 and pledges to fight “systemic racism.”

“For the highest income individuals in Canada (those making over $210,000), we will increase the top marginal tax rate by two points to 35 percent. Those at the very top – super-rich multi-millionaires with over $10 million in wealth – will be asked to pay more towards our shared services with a 1% wealth tax,” the platform reads.

The party claims that such a tax would generate “$10 billion” in revenue to redistribute towards the NDP’s costly programs.

Additionally, the NDP wants to introduce an “excess profit tax” to tax large Canadian companies who profited during the pandemic.

“That’s the vision that we have for Canada: Making the ultra-rich pay their fair share, so we can invest in people,” said Singh.

According to Trading Economics, Canada has one of the highest corporate tax rates among G20 countries.

Additionally, Singh promised free access to mental health services for uninsured Canadians which would be further expanded. The NDP platform also promises student debt forgiveness up to $20,000 and a national childcare, pharmacare and dental care program.

Estimates by Fraser Institute show that a national pharmacare program could cost taxpayers anywhere between $15 billion and $32.7 billion to achieve.

On top of that, the research institute Cardus estimated that a national childcare policy could cost an additional $36.3 billion on the upper end.

In their platform the NDP also pledged to combat “online hate” and other forms of discrimination.

“It’s time for the federal government to tackle white supremacism, terrorism and the growing threat of hate crimes targeting communities in Canada. We will begin work immediately to ensure that all major cities have dedicated hate crime units within local police forces, and to convene a national working group to counter online hate,” the NDP platform reads.

Zimmermann is a luxury Australian fashion brand founded in 1991 by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann. It is popular among wealthy American celebrities and billionaires, including Kendall Jenner, Beyoncé, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba and Paris Jackson, who have all been spotted wearing Zimmermann dresses.

Zimmermann dresses typically sell for anywhere between $500 to $2650.

The photo was shared on social media just hours before the NDP released its election platform — which included several references to raising taxes on the rich and imposing new taxes on luxury items.

The platform, which is uncosted, proposes sweeping new changes to the tax system and focuses primarily on hiking taxes for “super-rich” Canadians.

Notably, the NDP wants to impose a new tax on “luxury items.”

In February 2018 Toronto Life wrote a profile on Singh, celebrating his expensive shopping habits and collection of luxury items.

The article talks about his lavish lifestyle and his own treasure trove of luxury items, including a BMW, multiple Rolex watches, expensive designer suits and an “absurd” collection of bikes.

“He wears bespoke suits in the slim British style—his favourite is a brown tweed with cobalt-blue stripes, designed by a tailor in New Delhi, which he often pairs with a millennial-pink turban. He owns two Rolex watches, an Oyster Perpetual Datejust and a ­Submariner (both were gifts); a crimson BMW coupe; and six designer bicycles.”

True North reached out to the NDP to see if the Zimmermann dress or Singh’s Rolex watches would be taxed under a proposed NDP luxury tax regime, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

No debate allowed around Quebec’s COVID-19 passports, Legault decrees

Quebec Premier François Legault is refusing to have an open democratic debate about vaccine passports in the province’s legislature because he claims it would expose Canadians to “conspiracy theories.”

Legault mentioned a “certain” group of people, whom he refused to name, as the reasons behind his fears.

“I don’t want certain people – whom I won’t name – to come explain that there’s a conspiracy, it’s not good to be vaccinated, that in the end, we’re putting a microchip in people’s arms to follow what they’re doing, stories like that. I don’t think we need that in Quebec,” said Legault without giving any examples.

This week, Legault announced a sweeping vaccine passport program that would bar unvaccinated Canadians from accessing so-called “non-essential services” like sporting events, restaurants and bars.

Legault also pointed to support for vaccine passports among opposition parties including Quebec solidaire and the Parti Quebecois as a motivating factor.

“For the past 18 months, Francois Legault has been governing by decree and refusing to collaborate with the opposition,” said Quebec solidaire spokesman Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

“Today, he is pushing the envelope to the point of preventing the elected representatives of the Quebec people from debating a measure as sweeping as a vaccine passport.”

Additionally, Legault claims that Quebec’s population “agrees” with his vaccine passport system. As proof, Legault pointed to the rate Quebec citizens have been getting vaccinated.

Critics of the vaccine passport program in Quebec have claimed that it will be very difficult to enforce and could unnecessarily burden businesses that are already suffering.

Quebec’s vaccine passport decree has already faced some hurdles since first being announced in August.

Reports have indicated that numerous fraudsters attempting to sell fake COVID-19 passports and vaccination certificates are already taking advantage of the system in order to profit.

Alberta chief medical officer announces COVID vaccine clinics for schools

Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health Deena Hinshaw announced today at a press conference that, with the new school year looming, Alberta Health Services would be making COVID-19 vaccines available to both students and teachers in schools this coming year.

With the new school year a little more than three weeks away, and around 50 per cent of children aged 12–17 fully vaccinated, Hinshaw said that offering vaccines through schools would increase accessibility to those who were eligible.

“Although it is best to get a vaccine before school starts,” the province's chief medical officer said, “for those that aren't able to do so, we will also offer COVID-19 vaccines in schools.” Hinshaw outlined how vaccines would be available through temporary clinics accessible to students from Grade 7 through Grade 12, as well as for teachers and other school staff, starting on September 7.

“Providing vaccines through school ensures vaccines will be accessible to all eligible school-age Albertans in the province,” Hinshaw said.

On the contentious issue of mask usage in Alberta schools, Hinshaw stated that masking would not be a requirement, but could be suggested as a temporary intervention for outbreaks.

“Masking will not be universally required in schools across the province,” Hinshaw explained, adding that “they may be recommended as one of several temporary interventions for respiratory outbreaks in general.”

Alberta's highest ranking medical official also suggested that local school officials would have a say in the decision-making process, saying that “school officials can also make decisions that are right for them and their communities.”

“This includes the ability to consider putting health measures in for their schools that may exceed those put in place across the province.”

One admission from Hinshaw, however, surrounded the negative impact lockdowns and other public health measures had on the decline in mental health in youth.

“Many children have reported increased feelings of social isolation, depression and anxiety,” she said, reminding Albertans that “it is important to keep the negative impacts of these measures in mind, particularly when looking at a population that is at lower risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19.”

Expanding on her point about the low risk factor for the younger population, Hinshaw pointed to the number of children admitted to hospital for fall-related injures (four times as many as COVID), and anxiety-related disorders (eight times as many as COVID), stating that "overall, less than half of one per cent of all diagnosed COVID cases in school-age children have required hospital care, and thankfully, there have been no COVID-related deaths in children.”

Canada announces COVID vaccine will be mandatory for all federal employees

Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced that the federal government is set to make the vaccine mandatory for public servants, and that the requirement will also be implemented by Crown corporations and other federally regulated businesses in the coming weeks.

Despite Canada having the highest vaccination rates in the world, with 81 per cent of Canadians receiving at least one dose, Alghabra said the country "must do better."

"We need to reach as many Canadians as we possibly can," he said.

The vaccine will be mandatory for federal employees and those working in some federally regulated industries (airlines and railways, among others) in an effort to boost stalled vaccination rates. The government says it also "expects" that other employers in federally regulated sectors — like banking, broadcasting and telecommunication — will require vaccination for their employees.

There are more than 300,000 federal public servants and hundreds of thousands more people are working in industries that fall under the federal labour code.

Alghabra said the government will work alongside public service unions and employers to get the mandate in place "by the end of October," if not sooner.

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc said that public servants and federally regulated sectors must comply and receive the vaccine or risk losing their jobs.

"This is a mandatory requirement to go to work in a federal workplace or work in the government of Canada," he said.

"Obviously, there will be certain individuals for medical reasons that will not be able to be vaccinated and the appropriate officials will work with them to ensure that the appropriate measures are in place."

He added that testing and other measures will be put in place for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

"We expect the federal public service to want to comply with this mandatory requirement," LeBlanc said in a news conference. "This is the best way to end the pandemic and allow the economy to safely remain open."

Kelowna's First United Church suffers “accidental” minor structure fire

According to the Kelowna Fire Department, the door to the church on the 700 block of Bernard Avenue suffered “moderate damage” and there was “smoke migration into the structure.” The fire was extinguished at approximately 1:00 a.m. local time.

On Thursday, the United Conservative Party government held a meeting to discuss the next steps in the province’s strategy, a government source said, who chose to remain anonymous as they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, according to the Globe and Mail.

In a news conference, the NDP cited its own sources, saying that the government had decided to delay the plans to end routine COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, and mandatory isolation, with some of the changes to take effect on Monday.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Deena Hinshaw, announced last month that from August 16, the province would no longer legally require those with COVID-19 isolate, saying that the high level of vaccination in the province would now allow citizens to treat COVID-19 as an endemic illness and long-term part of life, like other respiratory viruses.

Hinshaw also said the province would stop wide-scale testing by the end of the month, and that contact tracers will no longer notify those exposed to the virus, except cases in high-risk settings such as long-term care facilities.

She also said mask mandates will no longer be in place in schools, with classes set to resume in September.

Premier Jason Kenney and Health Minister Tyler Shandro say that the decision is based on science and data provided by Dr. Hinshaw’s team. They insisted that the decision was not political.

Despite the politicians’ denials, the move has been decried as too drastic by some public health experts and doctors and has indeed become subject to everyday protests.

The Calgary Chamber of Commerce raised concerns that the policies could impact the province’s business reputation and hurt the economy.

Should Prime Minister Justin Trudeau call an early election as is expected in the coming days, taxpayers will likely have to dish out an estimated $610 million so they can head to the polls.

The hefty price tag of a pandemic election will mean that 2021 will be the most expensive election held in all of Canadian history.

Estimates by Elections Canada were first reported by CityNews.

In comparison, the 2021 election will be approximately $100 million more than the 2019 election, which took place shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began.

For months, Trudeau has insisted that his government was not interested in having an election. However, recent reports indicate that Trudeau will likely announce a snap election this Sunday.

Opposition leader Erin O’Toole has repeatedly spoken out against holding an election during the pandemic.

“My biggest concern right now is the potential fourth wave of COVID-19,” O’Toole said.

“We shouldn’t be rushing to an election. Mr. Trudeau always seems to put his own self-interest ahead of the interest of Canadians.”

The hefty pandemic costs of an election will push Canadian taxpayers even further into the red. Under Trudeau’s watch, Canada’s federal debt has surpassed $1 trillion dollars.

Additionally, according to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, the federal government’s deficit will likely not be paid off until 2070 due to the extensive spending programs brought on by the Liberal government during COVID-19.

“Overall, it paints a picture of unsustainability for finances, both federal and provincial combined,” Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux said.

“And that is the big elephant in the room that nobody seems to be worried about or wanting to address.”

Those who might consider Vimeo a viable YouTube alternative, particularly where it concerns free speech, might also feel the need to rethink this in light of an announcement made on August 10 by Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care (FLCCC), a group of leading critical care doctors who formed an alliance.

In a post, they informed their followers that videos missing from the FLCCC website (embedded from Vimeo) have been disappearing – as a consequence of the video site deplatforming the organization, i.e., deleting their account and therefore all content.

But the tweet continued, “We are working quickly to replace all of the links on @OdyseeTeam�? – referring to Odysee, a video site built on top of the Lbry blockchain protocol. Odysee Team was all too happy to respond on Twitter, promising to support FLCCC and its audience as the alliance’s content is transitioned to the platform.

Vimeo, who sits on the opposite end of the platform “philosophy�? as a centralized one, informed FLCCC that the account was removed in a notice shared in a screenshot, which cited a violation of the site’s guidelines.

Vimeo accused FLCCC of uploading videos that spread misinformation or untruths about vaccination safety or other health-related information that is seen as having “a serious potential�? to cause public harm.

The Vimeo message doesn’t copy the platform’s Big Tech counterparts’ boilerplate “explanations�? of censorship, but it is identical in spirit, by nor providing any details on what content and in what way violated its guidelines. Instead Vimeo provides a link to the guidelines page for the subject of deplatforming to “study�? and try to understand what they did wrong.

But it’s clear FLCCC had no intention of taking that path, or “replying to the message�? (ostensibly this is “Vimeospeek�? for, “you can appeal the decision�?). Instead, the alliance seems determined to indeed find a platform that better suits its needs – as “advised�? by Vimeo at the end of the notice – and that would be Odysee.

According to its website, the FLCCC Alliance was formed in the early days of the pandemic in Europe and North America – in March 2020, as a non profit whose goal is to develop “highly effective treatment protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19,�? as well as to “improve the outcomes for patients ill with the disease.�?

Here in France it has gone to the extreme with the “Health” Pass. Last week on the 21st ALL restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and any leisure activities like sporting events, theaters, cinemas, museums, were closed to anyone without “the pass” and all staff at these places are mandated to get the jab to keep their job.

It is now a 6 Month prison sentence if you are caught inside any of these places without the pass (the man who slapped the president in the face got only 3 months prison time). Business owners will get a fine of 45,000 euros and 1 year prison sentance if they do not comply with the use of “the pass” and force all their employees to get the jab. (If you know France, you can commit murder and have less of a sentence)

So the result? All the low paid employees quit, they can make more on welfare here. (for now) We can still technically “get take out food” but I just tried last night and every restaurant in our town (that is dine in with take out) has closed their doors due to the lack of staff.

As of last week ALL doctors, nurses and health industry workers have been mandated to get the jab or lose their license, practice, job, business etc. (ALL health care here is Govt paid positions and there are no private health care Doctors or Hospitals etc.)

Since the Health care system is state run and funded, it has been run into the ground. All the good doctors left France 5 Years ago, all the hospitals look like they are 3rd world hospitals since there is no money to repair them, half of the equipment doesnt work and not every hospital is stocked with supplies needed for daily needs (masks, gels, disposable gowns etc).

For 5 years Nurses have been understaffed and doing double the work because the Health care system is nearly bankrupt…. So add to this the mandatory jab.

So the result? Well they took to the streets by the millions and now all the hospitals just lost another 50% of staff capacity. My doctor just went into early retirement (a.k.a. he quit) and I have yet to find a replacement.

As of Aug 1st ALL large malls, retail stores and grocery store owners and their staff need to be jabbed and the health pass is required to enter for employees and customers. This would be the equivalent to closing ALL Targets, Walmarts, Costcos, Home Depots, and all major grocery stores. (basically any building over 20,000 squre meters) to those without “the pass”.

Result.?? Aug 15th Truckers will be going on strike nation wide; Blocking all access roads in and out of Paris.

Yesterday an entire airport in Northern France closed due to the majority of staff quitting.

As of Sept 15th All public areas and access will be off limits. No farmers markets, no parks, no national parks, lakes, rivers, beaches, recreation areas, campsites etc. and no gathering over 100 people, no churches, no weddings, etc.

As of Oct 1st ALL small vendors such as, delis, pizza trucks, sandwich shops, butchers, bakers, vegatable stands etc.

So as of Oct 1st I will only be able to purchase food by internet and pick up (if allowed).

Food shortages, Truckers strike, hospitals and airports shutting down unemployment going through the roof. Its going to be a bumpy ride folks.

Government running $2.2 million ad campaign promoting Trudeau’s gun agenda

The federal bureaucracy is running a $2.2 million ad campaign promoting the Trudeau Liberals’ firearms record, True North has learned.

An official with Public Safety Canada, the department responsible for the 30-second “Taking on Gun Violence” commercial, said its purpose was to “raise awareness of the rise of gun violence in Canada, as well as highlight actions being taken to help address the issue.”

The ad has been placed on radio and television stations across the country, as well as digital platforms.

The $2.2 million campaign budget includes only the ad buy and not the cost to produce the spot.

“Gun violence has risen in recent years across Canada,” the commercial’s narrator says. “Shootings have become more common. Many Canadians feel threatened in their own communities. The Government of Canada is taking action to help keep Canadians safe by banning assault-style firearms, strengthening gun control laws, and targeting gang violence and illegal firearms trafficking. By working together, we can reduce gun violence.”

The claim of banning “assault-style firearms” is a reference to the order-in-council signed by the government in May of last year, prohibiting more than 1,500 firearm variants, including AR-15 models. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the affected firearms serve only to “kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time,” though the ban has targeted collectors, sport shooters, and licensed firearm retailers.

Genuine assault rifles – those capable of automatic fire – have been prohibited since 1977. The government advertisement adopts the Liberal messaging used to promote the order-in-council.

The Public Safety Canada spokesperson said the commercial is educational, not partisan.

“The marketing campaign seeks to reach all Canadians on firearms issues, not just firearm owners; address misconceptions; provide easy access to firearm-related information; and strengthen the understanding that we can all be part of the solution,” he said.

The spokesperson added that the commercial will be suspended the day the next election campaign commences, as required by government advertising rules.

It is impossible to separate the political agenda from this form of government advertising, one taxpayer advocate says.

“The government shouldn’t be spending a tonne of our tax dollars in the lead up to an election trying to sell taxpayers on an ineffective and expensive policy,” said Canadian Taxpayers Federation federal director Franco Terrazzano. “The government has already spent millions of dollars on its buyback scheme without buying a single firearm. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s gun buyback is showing all the signs of a taxpayer boondoggle.”

Afghanistan’s Khaama Press reported Friday that Canada has dispatched “an unknown number of Special Forces” troops to Afghanistan to evacuate staffers from the embassy in Kabul.

The United Kingdom said Thursday it will send 600 troops to help its own 4,000 nationals withdraw as the Taliban closes in on Kabul, while the United States hastily committed 3,000 troops to a similar effort.

A Canadian official not authorized to publicly discuss the special forces deployment told the Associated Press that special forces operators would be sent to protect the Kabul embassy, where staffers are currently shredding sensitive papers and preparing to evacuate.

Canada deployed about 40,000 troops to Afghanistan under the auspices of NATO but began withdrawing them in 2014.

“The highly-trained soldiers are expected to work alongside allies, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, which are sending thousands of troops to the Afghan capital to aid in the partial evacuation of their embassies as security throughout the war-torn country rapidly deteriorates,” a Canadian defense source told CBC News.

CBC’s source said there has been an “extensive discussion between the Canadian military and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)” about U.S. forces providing “logistical and transport assistance” for Canada’s evacuation effort.

The Canadian government in July announced a program to resettle Afghans who served in positions “integral” to the Armed Forces mission, such as interpreters and drivers, to help them escape from Taliban retribution. Closing the Kabul embassy suddenly would severely hinder that program.

Canadian officials on Friday refused to state if a shutdown of the Canadian embassy in Kabul is imminent.

The U.K. military watched in frustration as Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand province and focus of the British war effort in Afghanistan for almost 20 years, fell to the Taliban on Friday. Almost all of the U.K.’s 457 casualties in Afghanistan were sustained in Helmand.

“The political will to see through enduring support to Afghanistan has not been there, and a lot of people are going to die because of that, and for me that is extremely humiliating,” former U.K. defense minister Johnny Mercer, who served in Afghanistan, told the BBC on Thursday.

Canada was comparably disheartened by the fall of Kandahar, where the Canadian combat deployment to Afghanistan was focused.

As with the United States, Afghanistan was Canada’s longest war; its mission began in 2001 and lasted until 2014. 165 Canadians died during the war, and over 2,000 were wounded. Kandahar fell to the Taliban without resistance on Friday, marking the symbolic restoration of the “Islamic Emirate.”

Protesters held signs that said “NO Vaccine Passports” as they chanted for their freedom. Even a few Trump flags made an appearance in the massive crowd.

The State-sponsored fake news hacks at Montreal Gazette claimed this was a crowd of “hundreds,” but the view from a helicopter says it all.

Protesters were demanding that the government immediately hold an emergency public debate to reverse the Soviet-style mandate because it is discriminatory and infringes on their civil rights.

Unsurprisingly, officials did not grant their requests, citing the emergency powers that have enabled them to commit these gross violations of liberty since the start of the pandemic.

They fear an open discussion because it would potentially fuel ‘dangerous conspiracy theories.’

According to them, noticing that the majority of new cases are among the vaccinated is akin to believing in lizard people.

Premier Francois Legault has rejected the idea of a debate, saying it would expose Quebecers to inaccurate, dangerous conspiracy theories about vaccines.

Instead of listening to citizens, the liberal-dominated government is expected to put even more restrictions in place as new Covid variants continue to spread across Canada. Canadian Prime Minister, Justin ‘blackface’ Trudeau, just announced that all federal employees, as well as any travelers on planes, trains, or ships, must be fully vaccinated by the Fall.

CANADA (LifeSiteNews) – The Canadian federal government under Liberal Party Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Friday that starting in October Canada will be mandating COVID-19 jabs as a requirement to travel domestically by air, train, or boat.

“As soon as possible in the fall and no later than the end of October, the government of Canada will require employees in the federally regulated air, rail and marine transportation sectors to be vaccinated. In addition the vaccination requirement will also extend to certain travelers. This includes all commercial air travelers, passengers on interprovincial trains and passengers on large marine vessels with overnight accommodations such as cruise ships,” Canada’s Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said Friday.

Alghabra said in addition to mandating COVID-19 jabs for domestic travel for Canadians, all federal workers will be required to be jabbed by October as well.

“Today, we are announcing that the government of Canada intends to require vaccinations across the federal public service. Following this example, we also expect that crown corporations and other employers in the federally regulated sector will also require vaccination for their employees,” said Alghabra.

Alghabra said that vaccine requirements in the transportation sector will help “protect the safety of employees, their families, passengers, their communities and all Canadians.”

Alghabra claimed that for the “few” who “are unable to be vaccinated,” there will be “accommodation or alternative measures such as testing and screening” which “may be determined in each situation to protect broader public health by reducing the risk of COVID-19.”

LifeSiteNews contacted Transport Canada for comment about Friday’s news, asking what types of exceptions will be made if any.

Simon Rivet, Manager, Media Relations, Communications Group for Transport Canada told LifeSiteNews via email Friday that COVID-19 jabs will be mandated for all “commercial air travelers” and that this would be “regardless of destination” because “the Government of Canada must play a role in setting a good example.”

He said that COVID-19 jabs will be mandatory by “the end of September across the federal public service,” as well.

“Children under 12, who are currently not eligible to be vaccinated, will be exempted from this requirement,” said Rivet.

The news comes only a day after media reports surfaced that Trudeau is planning on calling a Canadian federal election for September 20.

Trudeau said in June that in the fall the federal government will be rolling out a system of “national certification of vaccination status” that travelers can use to prove they’ve had the “full” two doses of the COVID-19 jab.

All travelers entering Canada are now subject to a new border screening program that uses biometrics. Travelers coming to Canada from the U.S who wish to be exempt from mandatory quarantine are required to be fully jabbed with COVID-19 injections.

It goes without saying that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has had a controversial two years while heading a minority government, most of it during the COVID pandemic.

He was the subject of a third ethics probe related to the WE charity scandal.

The first two probes – following a vacation on the Aga Khan’s private island in the Exumas and the SNC Lavalin scandals – both found him in conflict of interest.

His pick for governor-general, Julie Pyette, resigned amid findings from a workplace review that she ran a toxic and verbally abusive office.

That is all aside from his widely criticized mishandling of the COVID pandemic.

The missteps are too many to list but one of the key mistakes that opponents of the Prime Minister are likely to cite was his government’s botched the acquisition of COVID vaccines – an indefensible failure given that vulnerable Canadians were made to wait precious weeks to get protected.

Early in 2021, while the United States and other countries such as Israel had vaccinated a significant portion of their population with at least the first dose of the leading Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, Canada was still scrambling to obtain supply.

This was mostly due to the Trudeau government’s obsession with a deal with a China manufacturer, which fell through – leaving Canadians in the lurch.

When supply finally trickled in, the provinces were forced initially to book the second dose a risky four months after the first to ensure more people got their first shot.

Now would-be travellers – who mixed vaccine brands, due to urging from the Trudeau government – are finding they may not be permitted to enter certain countries.

The government’s expensive and highly inefficient hotel quarantine – which in large part punished snowbirds and already vaccinated travellers – came one year too late. It was put into place in February of this year after hundreds of planeloads entered Canada from international destinations with infected passengers.

The federal deficit for 2020 topped a shocking $380-billion bringing the debt to an obscene $1-trillion – after the Trudeau government spent with impunity on the pandemic, including the unaccountable CERB program.

But is it a case of how quickly voters forget?

Are some Canadians far too entitled and want the government to take care of them from cradle to grave, no matter the cost implications?

Or is it that the opposition has struggled to find a leader who resonates with swing voters, largely in the country’s urban centres?

First there was Conservative leader Andrew Scheer and now there’s Erin O’Toole, still a relative unknown across Canada.

They are both perfectly nice articulate men, though on the bland side, and certainly don’t display the overt narcissism of our current leader.

But I would bet that many voters – outside of the political junkies – have no clue what O’Toole stands for and why he’d make a better PM, mostly because he hasn’t yet articulated why.

I suspect O’Toole would not embarrass Canadians on the world stage as Trudeau has.

I have to believe he’d keep a far tighter rein on spending too.

But like Scheer, O’Toole didn’t effectively play the role of a hard-nosed opposition leader, most especially during the pandemic.

Trudeau gave him plenty of fodder – the vaccine botch-up alone – to make himself known and to prove that he’d do things differently. Never mind the fact that Trudeau’s reliance on China for the vaccine cost lives.

What I, and others, remember is his childish port-a-potty video in February, when he should really have been absolutely indignant about the vaccine issue. That video was cringeworthy.

What Canada needs right now is a leader who is not afraid to stick to the core values of ordinary Canadians – whether it be tackling our outrageous deficit, not being governed by special interests or proving to us that accountability and free speech is really important.

But when O’Toole introduced a carbon tax, or is over-the-top in his efforts to prove he’s pro-LGBTQ, or is busy jettisoning preferred candidates into ridings (despite insisting nominations are open and fair), Canadians can’t help but think he stands for very little except for being a nicer alternative to the current Prime Minister.

True, the legacy media, as always, have a shameless double standard with Conservative leaders, ignoring many stories that would make them look like leaders while giving endless airtime to and lobbing softball questions at Trudeau.

Perhaps it is as many say, that O’Toole is getting bad advice.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has officially asked Governor General Mary Simon to dissolve Parliament and formally launch the 2021 federal election.

Trudeau made the announcement on Sunday, stating that Canadians can expect to head to the polls by September 20.

“I have just had a talk with our Governor General and she has accepted my request to dissolve Parliament. Canadians will therefore vote on September 20th,” Trudeau said at a press conference at Rideau Hall.

“After making it through 17 months of nothing like we’ve ever experienced, Canadians deserve to choose what the next 17 months and 17 years and beyond will look like.”

While parliament was still in session, Trudeau insisted on several occasions that he was not interested in holding an election during the COVID-19 pandemic and suggested that opposition parties like the Conservatives would force his hand.

“Our priority as a government is going to be helping people get through this pandemic and I hope the different opposition parties will help us … it’s not in our interests to have an election, people want us to work together to help them,” said Trudeau in February.

Additionally, Trudeau stated in a year-end interview with CBC’s Rosemary Barton that he was “not eager for an election” and that winning another mandate was “not our focus right now.”

In reality, having survived several votes of non-confidence this year, the decision to force Canadians to the poll was the prime minister’s alone.

Canadians can expect COVID-19 management and the state of Canada’s finances to be some of the top issues during the 2021 election.

Debates around the path to economic recovery and the Liberal government’s recent attacks on free speech like the anti-internet legislations, Bill C-10 and Bill C-36, will also likely rear their head in the next few weeks.

To date, the Liberals have been leading the polls ahead of the Conservatives but some signs point towards voter dissatisfaction with the prime minister’s performance.

One recent poll by Leger found that Canadians were divided on their approval of Trudeau. In total, 49% of Canadians said that they were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with the prime minister, while 46% of Canadians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with him.

Two new “independent” Senate Advisory Board appointees have deep ties to Liberals

The governing body in charge of appointing so-called “independent” senators has two new members — both with extensive ties to the Liberal Party of Canada.

On Thursday, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic Leblanc announced two new appointments to the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments (IABSA).

The appointment of Gerald Glavine and Sandra Kelly have again raised concerns over the “independence” and “non-partisanship” of the selection process.

The two “independent” appointees, have both made multiple donations to the Liberals.

Kelly has made four donations since 2001, amounting to a total of $210.00. Glavine, who served as Chief of Staff to Liberal Premier Brian Tobin, has made a whopping 21 donations since 2008, worth $6,306.95 in total.

“The IABSA plays an important role in ensuring…representation by providing the Prime Minister with non-binding, non-partisan, merit-based recommendations for Senate appointments,” read the news release.

Trudeau founded IABSA in 2016 to supposedly circumvent the partisanship associated with Senate appointments.

Senate appointments are “recommended by the IABSA, and chosen using the merit-based process open to all Canadians.” This process is supposed to “ensure Senators are independent, reflect Canada’s diversity, and are able to tackle the broad range of challenges and opportunities facing the country,” according to the government.

However, the Conservatives have criticized Trudeau, arguing that he didn’t change the partisan nature of appointments because, in the end, Trudeau still has total discretion over who gets chosen. In 2017, independents voted with the government 94.5% of the time.

Some have questioned the efficacy of the selection process since it seems difficult to make “non-partisan” recommendations when the board itself has members with deep ties to the Liberals. Of the 2021 Senate appointees, five made large donations to the Liberals, two were former Liberal candidates and one was a director of the Trudeau Foundation.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is calling for an election on September 20, hoping that his Liberal Party can retake a majority in the country's parliament. Trudeau lost his majority in the 2019 election, meaning he needs the help of other parties to pass legislation.

Trudeau's liberal party has a mid 30% range of support, according to Bloomberg - enough for them to regain control of the House of Commons. Trudeau is tasked with winning over important votes in suburban areas surrounding Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, the report says.

On Sunday, Trudeau said at a news conference: “The decisions your government makes right now will define the future your kids and grandkids grow up in. Canadians need to choose how we finish the fight against Covid-19 and build back better.”

He will try to being in votes by using his pandemic track record as a selling point and by positioning himself as a "steady hand" that will keep fighting the pandemic.

The 36 day window for the election is the shortest allowed by Canadian law. Nikita Nanos, chief data scientist and founder at Nanos Research, a polling firm, told FT: “The reality is that Canadians are just getting their first break from the pandemic.” While that may seem like an opportune time for Trudeau to push people to the ballot box (or the mail in ballot, of which "millions" are expected), the decision is still a gamble.

Nanos continued: “Now they’re starting to think about, what does it mean to go back to work? What does it mean for the kids to go back to school? And as a result, there’s just not a lot of enthusiasm for an election at this particular point in time.”

“Forward. For Everyone.” is the slogan the liberal party began using on social media Saturday.

About 50% of Canadians have said Trudeau has done a good job managing the pandemic thus far. About 23% of the country says he has done a poor job and about 26% of the country is neutral.

Almost 75% of Canadians have said their personal finances are "better or no worse" than they were two years ago, the poll showed.

Liberals have 155 seats in parliament, 15 shy of the 170 threshold.

Trudeau has proclaimed this election has the "most momentous since the end of World War II", Bloomberg noted. He says the world has "changed considerably" since 2019, the report says, and he continues to pitch the pandemic as a continuing threat - a move we're likely to see liberal leaders in the U.S. try to rely on for as many elections to come as the voters allow them.

About the jab thing, I am not willing to take it, yet my own family wanted me to. My mom wants me to do it; she can be "quite" strict when I am talking to her. My aunt told me the same thing a week ago. They've wanted me to do something against my will, my conscience, and, importantly, my obedience to God. They almost made me cry in pain. I sometimes cry in bed.

Last visit day in Toronto last week, I had some signs of gaslighting, including getting confused, struggling making decisions, losing confidence, etc.

I am not going to stay in Ottawa any longer as tyrannical levels from the Parliament get higher. I have wanted to leave Canada for another country, but the level of evil gets higher everywhere. I have thought of moving out of Ontario to another province for good. I am afraid of backlash from my own family for planning to leave Ontario. I would love to stay in Ottawa for my "joie de vivre", but blackmailing people from the government gets tense.

I have got another job where I would have to get tested (rapid testing) every shift or get double jabbed–do I have to spend more money on healthy eating just to get a negative test in order to work a shift?! He told Fishman: “There is a maximum cycle of 10 years from injection to end of cycle [i.e. death], and it is extremely easy to determine.” According to Canderian, the percentage of a vaccinated person’s blood contaminated with graphene oxide was multiplied by the decade-long maximum cycle to determine the person’s remaining lifespan in years. He added that any hematologist can immediately determine graphene oxide levels in the blood using either a standard or electron microscope.

Based on the formula, a vaccinated person whose blood had 20 percent graphene oxide would still live for eight years after inoculation (10 – [10*0.20] = 8). Similarly, a vaccinated person with 70 percent graphene oxide in their blood would not live beyond three years following inoculation (10 – [10*0.70] = 3).

The plant aims to provide Canadians with access to domestically manufactured mRNA vaccines against respiratory viruses, including Covid, seasonal influenza, respiratory syncytial virus and possibly other vaccines, pending licensure, the U.S. drugmaker said.

It is also intended to be used on “an urgent basis” to support the country with direct access to vaccines during health emergencies, the company said.

Moderna said it is in discussions with other governments for similar collaborations.

“We are excited to expand our presence and continue our long-term collaboration with Canada,” Patricia Gauthier, Moderna’s lead for Canadian operations, said in a statement. “With our industry-leading mRNA technology platform and rapid drug development capabilities, we look forward to being an active participant in Canada’s robust life sciences ecosystem.”

Canada suffered from repeated delays and supply shortages of Covid vaccines this year as it struggled to obtain the shots from other countries that were manufacturing them. The issue forced the government to delay second shots for up to 16 weeks and advise residents to “mix and match” vaccines.

The Biden administration, under pressure from allies worldwide to share vaccines, announced plans in March to ship about 4 million doses of AstraZeneca’s Covid vaccine that it was not using to Mexico and Canada.

The supply of vaccines and pace of inoculations has since increased, Canadian health authorities have said, and residents have since gone on to receive their second doses.

Shares of Moderna were down about 3% Tuesday just before the announcement. The stock is up more than 360% year to date.

Don’t expect to see bills C-10 and C-36 reintroduced under a Conservative government under Erin O’Toole.

The Conservatives’ 2021 campaign platform says Bill C-10, which would significantly expand the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) mandate to include online publishers – including social media users – ”gives too much power to regulators while failing to provide businesses with the clear guidelines they need to operate.”

While the Conservatives say the CRTC mandate needs an update, they say their plan would exempt user-generated social media content and ensure any changes don’t stifle Canadian publishers.

The platform also says an O’Toole-led government would not expand the Canadian Human Rights Commission’s mandate to prosecute online hate speech, as the Liberal Bill C-36 proposed.

“Free speech, freedom of expression, and a free press are fundamental tenets of Canadian law and Canadian democracy,” the platform says. “We will oppose government censorship of material that is not criminal in nature merely because some may find it to be offensive.”

A Conservative government would continue to use the existing high criminal code threshold for hate speech and use the criminal justice system rather than human rights tribunals when that threshold has been met.

The Conservatives do not appear to be pursuing the Liberals’ planned Digital Safety Commission to enforce speech regulations against social media companies.

Their plan would, however, create a “stronger legal duty for social media platforms to remove illegal content, such as content that incites violence.”

It would also give $25 million to law enforcement agencies to allow them to “follow up more rapidly and investigate online threats of violence, hate speech, sexual exploitation, human trafficking and disinformation campaigns by foreign governments or extremist groups.”

The platform also says a Conservative government would protect conscience rights for healthcare practitioners and work with provinces to ensure postsecondary institutions have a “commitment to free speech and academic freedom.”

A federal NDP candidate stated on social media last year that she supported the “riots and destruction” in Minneapolis, Minnesota following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police.

Geneva Allen, who is running under the NDP banner for the Quebec riding of Compton–Stanstead, made the comments in a series of tweets on May 29, 2020 as the protests and riots began.

“Unpopular opinion but I support the riots and destruction in #minneapolisriots How does one get change otherwise? There has been systemic racism built into the US for too long…” wrote Allen.

In the same tweet, Allen called the violent riots “creative destruction where good can blossom from ashes.”

Allen also went on to state that “peaceful protests can only go so far” and “revolution” would be required.

“Revolution is needed at a certain point when it is so engrained in society that people don’t even see it’s happening,” wrote Allen.

In the aftermath of the riots, reports indicated that violence by the far-left and Antifa cost Minneapolis around $550 million in damage and resulted in two deaths.

Allen’s Twitter account was created in December 2016. These controversial remarks have not been deleted.

According to a social media post by those close to Allen, she was first sworn in as an “MP candidate for Compton-Stanstead Quebec for the NDP” on July 26, 2021.

Prior to becoming a candidate, Allen also held an executive position as the communications coordinator for McGill University’s NDP chapter.

A Conservative government would rollback the Liberal government’s increased firearm restrictions, the party confirmed Monday.

The Conservative Party of Canada’s official platform says a government led by Erin O’Toole would focus on smuggling and guns used in crime rather than the Trudeau approach of broad changes that only affect law-abiding gun owners.

This includes a repeal of Bill C-71 and the Trudeau government’s May 2020 order-in-council, which prohibited more than 1,500 firearm models, including the popular AR-15. Bill C-71 introduced a range of restrictions on gun owners, including a requirement to seek specific authorization to take a lawfully owned firearm to a gunsmith or a gun show.

The Conservatives are also committing to a review of the Firearms Act “with participation by law enforcement, firearms owners, manufacturers, and members of the public.”

“We will then update legislation by introducing a simplified classification system and codifying it in law so that it is clear what types of firearms fit into each category and classification decisions can be made quickly, and with the public and firearms owners having confidence that they are not arbitrary,” the platform says.

The Conservative gun plan would require law enforcement to return firearms seized when a person has been charged with an offence if the charges are dismissed.

The O’Toole government would also require “sentencing consideration for courts” if someone is charged for an offence “directed at a property or person that was vulnerable because of their remoteness from emergency services.”

Those using firearms when they are under a prohibition order, or those using firearms in the commission of a crime, will be subject to stiffer penalties under the plan laid out in the platform.

“Our focus will be on keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals,” the document says. “This contrasts with the Liberals, who have refused to take action against gangs while harassing hunters and sport shooters. Canada’s Conservatives will improve the regulation of legal firearms to ensure that it is evidence-based and focuses on protecting public safety.”

A new Liberal private members bill aims to address “environmental racism” in Canada.

The bill, Bill C-230, sponsored by Liberal MP Lenore Zann, claims that “a disproportionate number of people who live in environmentally hazardous areas are members of an Indigenous or racialized communities.” It also states that “establishing environmentally hazardous sites” in areas where these said communities live can be a form of “racial discrimination.”

The bill calls for the Environment Minister to “develop a national strategy to promote efforts across Canada to redress the harm caused by environmental racism.”

The bill states that the strategy must “assess the administration and enforcement of environmental laws in each province.” This has complications with natural resources as a provincial jurisdiction according to the constitution.

The Conservatives are the only opposition party that oppose this bill. No Conservative MP voted in favour of it.

Bill C-230 has passed its second reading in the House of Commons. An amendment was added by the Bloc Quebecois citing a concern over the federal government getting involved in provincial jurisdiction.

The term ”environmental racism” was first developed by Benjamin Chavis, a black civil rights leaderwho defined as: “racial discrimination in environmental policy-making, the enforcement of regulations and laws, the deliberate targeting of communities of colour for toxic waste facilities, the official sanctioning of the life-threatening presence of poisons and pollutants in our communities, and the history of excluding people of colour from leadership of the ecology movements.”

With a possible election this fall, Bill C-230 is not likely to become a focal point. This allows the Liberals, along with the NDP and Bloc, to be able to pass the bill in the next parliament with anything less than a Conservative majority.

O’Toole pledges to move Canada’s embassy to Jerusalem

Conservative Party Leader Erin O’Toole revealed on Monday that if elected prime minister, he would move Canada’s embassy to Jerusalem and officially recognize the city as Israel’s capital.

The promise was part of the Conservative’s newly unveiled 160-page election platform.

“Canada’s Conservatives will always support Israel’s existence as a sovereign democratic Jewish state with the right to self-determination and to live in peace and security,” the platform reads.

“(Canada’s Conservatives will) recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the Canadian embassy to Jerusalem.”

On Sunday, Liberal Party Leader Justin Trudeau officially called the 2021 election, forcing Canadians to go to the polls in the midst of a pandemic.

O’Toole’s call echoes a similar promise by former Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer who also pledged to move the embassy during the 2019 election.

Currently, the Embassy of Canada to Israel is located in Tel Aviv. In 2019, Trudeau refused to pledge to move Canada’s embassy to Jerusalem following a decision by former US president Donald Trump to do so.

Following Trump’s official recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the Trudeau government voted against its long-standing ally in the UN Security Council.

“I have always been very clear: our embassy will stay in Tel Aviv,” said Trudeau at the time. “We do not believe that actions like this are useful.”

The Conservative platform also promises to reverse course on Liberal policies which single out Israel in the international community.

Last year, Jewish organizations accused the Trudeau government for backing an anti-Israel vote in favour of Palestine. Critics argued that the vote’s framing was one-sided and failed to affirm Jewish self-determination.

New Liberal election ad blurs pro-BLM sign at rally

A new Liberal campaign ad featuring edited footage from a Calgary-area Black Lives Matter protest with Justin Trudeau's voice dubbed over is “pretty triggering”, says local comedian and rally organizer Adora Nwofor.

Nwofor criticized the ad, which blurred out two signs held by participants, saying that there is “no need to show a BLM protest and then also censor those folx”:

“There are so many images and video that could have been used where Black people did not need to have their messages erased,” Nwofor told PressProgress, adding that blurring out their signs creates the impression they “cannot moderate ourselves.”

One sign that read “Fuck Racism #BLM” was fully blurred, and another sign's obscured message about police had the word “police” excised.

The ad, titled Relentless, shows the Calgary BLM footage briefly before showing Trudeau himself taking a knee at an Ottawa BLM rally.
