All Federal Buildings in Portland Evacuated Amid Car Bomb Threat

On Friday, federal authorities evacuated all federal buildings in Portland after reports of a car bomb threat. The FBI is investigating the threat.

“The FBI is aware of recent reporting regarding threats made against federal buildings in Portland,” the FBI’s Portland field office said in a statement. “We are investigating to determine the credibility of the threat, and we remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to share information.”

The Bankruptcy Court cited a “threat of violence in the area” as the reason for its shutdown, The Oregonian reported. A source with knowledge of the situation told the paper that federal authorities received a threat that a vehicle filled with explosives would hit a federal building. It remains unclear if the threat involved a specific building.

The source also told The Oregonian that the Standard Insurance and Standard Plaza buildings had been evacuated on Friday morning.

The threat came after the 84th night of violent riots in Portland. In the name of pursuing justice for George Floyd, rioters have fired explosives at the federal courthouse, set fire to the police union, attempted to burn down a police precinct with officers inside, and turned the entrance of the ICE building into a war zone.

On Thursday night, rioters attempted to break into the ICE building. When federal officers came out, rioters threw rocks and bottles at them, shined lasers to blind them, and launched commercial-grade fireworks at them. They also set dumpsters on fire. The riot continued into the morning.

Antifa rioters have repeatedly used allied vehicles filled with weapons and explosives to supply their lawbreaking, so this reported threat seems tragically par for the course.

Chicago City Council Members Call For State Of Emergency Declaration, Request National Guard

A group of Chicago City Council members requested that Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker immediately declare a state of emergency in Chicago and deploy the national guard in light of ongoing rioting and looting in the city.

The City Council held a special meeting Friday to consider the resolution. The governor was asked to deploy the national guard for a period of 4 months to assist local law enforcement in quelling the unrest.

As the state of California prepares to send mail-in ballots to more than 20 million registered voters ahead of the general election, concerned citizens have raised questions about the role of hired experts with ties to partisan Democratic groups.

One South Bay voter expressed her concern this week on KSCO’s Charles Freedman Show after she received a letter from the Democracy Fund with details about her mail-in ballot.

The Democracy Fund, hired by Secretary of State Alex Padilla in May to oversee the mail-in ballot program in California until January 15, 2021, purports to be a non-partisan organization. In California, the state’s top election monitors for the general election includes Jennifer Morrell, president of the Democracy Fund since 2018, and Noah Praetz, the former director of elections in Cook County, Illinois, which has a reputation of voter fraud going back decades.

However, the Democracy Fund’s primary sponsor, billionaire Pierre Omidyar, has given millions of dollars to leftist causes and media outlets and Democratic Party candidates and groups. Omidyar was one of the biggest donors to the NeverTrump Political Action Committee (PAC) during the 2016 election.

Since 2016, Omidyar, an eBay founder who attended the University of California, Berkeley, and groups associated with the Democracy Fund have given more than $700,000 to organizations opposed to the Trump campaign and administration, according to the watchdog group InfluenceWatch.org.

Moreover, Omidyar and partners have funded the left-leaning news site PolitiFact some $500,000 over a two-year span.

The Democracy Fund and Democracy Fund Voice are non-profits and as such face certain prohibitions or regulations related to political donations. However, Omidyar has donated millions to the liberal press through less constrained philanthropic organizations.

He’s personally pledged more than $250 million to First Look Media, an umbrella group that funds progressive media platforms, including ProPublica, which is connected to major Democratic political donor George Soros, a leading critic of President Trump and the Republican Party.

But even the Democracy Fund seems to be pushing the election envelope these days, so to speak. In a June blog post, fund President Joe Goldman said the foundation is no longer bipartisan but independent and “advocates for an open and just democracy.”

What that means for California voters remains to be seen. However, election observers anticipate plenty of problems. In the March primary, more than 100,000 mail-in ballots were rejected, most of them for being mailed back too late.

In general, critics of mail-in ballots have noted that logistical limitations or intentional interference with the postal service or its workers or so-called private ballot harvesters could disrupt the election.

All registered voters will be mailed a ballot no later than 29 days prior to election day, which is Tuesday, November 3rd. Early voting and in-person voting locations will also be available. Ballots may be returned by mail, in person, or to a drop box.

KSCO’s Freedman vowed to take his ballot directly to the election office. “I’ll be damned to the darkest depths of hell before I mail in a ballot,” the Navy veteran said.

Strangulation and Biting: Former Sailor Details Sex Assault and Other Allegations Against Navy SEALs Pulled from Iraq

SAN DIEGO – U.S. Navy intelligence specialist Colleen Grace was asleep on a remote air base in Iraq when she was woken up by knocking on the door next to her room, and then a voice she recognized.

The voice belonged to a Navy corpsman she knew. He was upset and speaking loudly to the Army colonel who lived next door. Grace heard the corpsman say that a sailor who attended a Fourth of July barbecue had just been raped by a member of the Navy SEAL platoon on the base. The corpsman asked the colonel what to do because the victim was afraid that if she reported the incident, retribution would follow.

Grace looked down at her phone to check the time and saw a missed text from a friend asking her to come over. “Urgent,” the message read.

When Grace got to her friend’s room around 1:50 a.m., she found her friend in bed with a bruised face and realized she was the person who said she'd been raped. She told Grace that she and the SEAL started out having consensual sex but then he started choking her and at one point she thought “what is he going to do with my body when he kills me?”

Grace photographed her injuries, then hugged her and cried, unsure of what would happen next.

Within weeks, the entire Foxtrot platoon of SEAL Team 7, known as Trident 1726, was sent home early. It was an extremely rare move to cut short the mission of a unit that was there to combat remnants of ISIS. Navy officials have given few details other than to say there was an alleged sexual assault and drinking at a Fourth of July barbecue in Iraq in 2019 in violation of Navy rules barring deployed troops from consuming alcohol.

The story of the platoon being pulled from Iraq has been previously reported, but documents obtained by The Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act and interviews with nearly a dozen people give the first in-depth view into what led to that rare recall.

Records obtained by the AP from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service also reveal a previously unknown reported allegation of sexual misconduct against the SEAL platoon chief, Special Warfare Operator Chief Nicholas Olson, two days before the barbecue. Olson denies any wrongdoing.

The platoon was withdrawn after the Navy made an unusually public push to strengthen order and discipline in its secretive elite force amid a series of scandals.

The Navy fired three SEAL leaders in the aftermath of the alleged rape and charged an enlisted SEAL with sexual assault, aggravated assault via strangulation and assault by battery for allegedly biting the victim on the face, among other counts. He faces a court-martial in November. A hearing in the case will be held Friday at Naval Base San Diego.
