Dell announces $5 billion share-buyback program
Dell Technologies Inc. DELL, 2.19% offered a series of long-term guidance figures ahead of an analyst-day event Thursday. At the event, Dell plans to announce that it expects compound annual revenue growth of 3% to 4% through fiscal 2026, as well as compound annual growth in non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of at least 6% in the same span, according to a release. The company also intends to announce its expectation for net income to adjusted free-cash flow conversion of at least 100% during this span. Dell plans to announce the approval of a share-buyback program of up to $5 billion that becomes effective in November upon the expected completion of its VMware spinoff. The company intends to begin issuing a quarterly dividend "with an attractive yield" in the first quarter of fiscal 2023, subject to board approval. The company will be targeting an annual dividend of about $1 billion. It will also be aiming to return 40% to 60% of adjusted free-cash flow to shareholders through dividends and repurchases beginning in fiscal 2023.

Evergrande’s EV Unit Has Stopped Paying Staff, Factory Suppliers
China Evergrande Group’s electric-car unit has missed salary payments to some of its employees and has fallen behind on paying a number of suppliers for factory equipment, according to people familiar with the matter, evidence the stricken property developer’s debt woes are having an impact beyond its core business.
The cash flow difficulties mean China Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group Ltd. will likely miss its target to start mass deliveries next year considering trial production of electric vehicles at its factories in Shanghai and Guangzhou has been dialed back, the people said, asking not to be identified as they’re not authorized to speak publicly.
Most employees at Evergrande NEV are paid at the start of every month and again on the 20th, however for some mid-level managers, the second installment for September hasn’t arrived, the people said. Several equipment suppliers, meanwhile, began withdrawing their on-site personnel from the Shanghai and Guangzhou sites as early as July after payments for machinery in Evergrande NEV’s factories weren’t made. Those people were on hand to provide the timely adjustment of production equipment and fix any issues, the people said. Now that they’re not around, Evergrande NEV has been forced to rely on its own employees, who aren’t as familiar with the equipment, resulting in just a small handful of trial cars being made daily. Representatives for Evergrande NEV didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
The financial stress of Evergrande’s parent has reached epic proportions in recent weeks, prompting some to describe the potential contagion as China’s Lehman moment considering risks associated with Evergrande are threatening to freeze global credit markets. The giant real estate developer, whose assets also span banks and media businesses, is $300 billion in debt and widely expected to default on bond payments. Whether Beijing will engineer a resolution rather than allowing a chaotic collapse into bankruptcy is something investors around the world are now watching. Evergrande NEV flagged during its half-year earnings results last month that it might have to delay car production unless it can secure more capital in the short term. The company reported a 4.8 billion yuan ($744 million) loss for the six months to June 30.
The startup, which vowed in March 2019 to take on Elon Musk and become the world’s biggest maker of EVs within five years, has unveiled nine models under its Hengchi brand but has yet to mass produce a single car. It made a great splash at this year’s Shanghai auto show, with all nine protoypes on display and promises of 5 million cars a year by 2035. However four models, the Hengchi No. 1, 3, 5, and 6, are still at what’s known as the Engineering Trial (ET) phase, a preliminary stage that calibrates a car’s standards and quality controls while it has an all-white body, the people said. It typically takes at least six months after completion of the ET phase to mass production.
Like investors in China Evergrande Group, shareholders of Evergrande NEV have quickly become disillusioned. The Hong Kong-listed stock is down 90% this year, a huge pullback considering the company used to have a market value greater than Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. The liberal reporters are beginning to get so tired of the Biden Administration’s lack of transparency that they are actually taking action.
In response to the meeting with Boris Johnson, the White House press pool filed a formal complaint against Biden for failing to answer questions from the American media.
“[President] Biden and British PM [Boris Johnson] meet to discuss pandemic, trade and other issues,” CBS News reporter Ed O’Keefe tweeted. “Johnson took 3 questions. White House aides shouted down U.S. attempts to ask questions. I asked Biden about southern border and we couldn’t decipher what he said.”
White House Correspondents’ Association President Steven Portnoy released in a statement that he filed a formal complaint about the incident to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
“The entire editorial component of the U.S. pool went immediately into Jen Psaki’s office to register a formal complaint that no American reporters were recognized for questions in the president’s Oval Office, and that wranglers loudly shouted over the president as he seemed to give an answer to Ed O’Keefe’s question about the situation at the Southern Border,” the statement said. “Biden’s answer could not be heard over the shouting.”
“Psaki was unaware that the incident had occurred, and suggested that she was not in a position to offer an immediate solution,” the statement added.

A recently-unearthed FOIA request reveals that White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was on the payroll of an Israeli-based spy company between posts in the Obama administration and the Biden administration.
Chicago-based online news outlet The Electronic Intifada directly requested from the White House Psaki’s financial disclosures prior to her admission to the administration from their .gov website. The revelations from the disclosure report are nothing less than shocking.
The ‘Public Financial Disclosure Report’ produced by the White House details Psaki’s employment at a dozen companies including big names like CNN and Lyft among lesser known though incredibly influential brands. One consulting gig was at the 1630 fund — a Democrat lobbying organization that Politico dubbed a “massive dark-money group” and reportedly spent $141,000,000 in 2018 alone. All we know is that Psaki got more than $5,000 from them.
Most notable is Psaki’s stint at ‘AnyVision’: an Israeli spy firm that surveils Palestinians through facial recognition. Their practices are so controversial that Microsoft was forced to pull all funding from the project, reported NBC News. No matter, the firm got hundreds of millions of dollars in investment elsewhere.
Why won’t the White House disclose how much money in total Psaki raked in from a foreign state? Did she register as a foreign agent when she was advising the Israelis on their secret spy missions? Why don’t we know more about this? We can be sure the figure far exceeds $5,000. This is a matter of national security.
The press will never ask these questions. The entire Biden administration has very strong loyalty to Israel. As The Times of Israel pointed out, the Biden administration has 11 top positions filled by Jews — a record — and many of the rest appear to be compromised by Israel.

The Biden administration continues to face questions and criticism about how it is handling a surge of Haitian migrants crossing the southern border.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified this week before Congress about images of federal agents on horseback chasing migrants and the administration's plan for deporting Haitians back to their home country.
Thousands of migrants were living in a makeshift camp this week along the river bank separating Del Rio, Texas, from Ciudad Acuña in Mexico.
On Thursday, the U.S. special envoy for Haiti resigned his post over what he called an "inhumane" decision to send back thousands of Haitian migrants.
Mexican authorities began staging on Thursday morning at a migrant camp in Ciudad Acuña, just across the river from Del Rio, Texas, where an encampment of thousands of Haitian migrants has drawn international attention.
Local, state and federal authorities rolled into a park on the south side of the river separating Mexico from the United States, bringing buses and state police vehicles, according to the El Paso Times.
The park entrance was blocked, the Associated Press reported, and a helicopter flew overhead on Thursday morning. State police vehicles spaced about 30 feet apart and a fence line funneled migrants to the crossing point they had been using to enter the U.S.
WASHINGTON – A career U.S. diplomat to Haiti has resigned over the Biden administration's "inhumane" decision to deport thousands of Haitians attempting to enter the U.S. back to the island nation.
Ambassador Daniel Foote, a Special Envoy for Haiti, wrote in his resignation letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken that he could not be associated with the government's "inhumane, counterproductive decision to deport thousands of Haitian refugees." He has been in his post for two months.
Foote added that the U.S. approach to Haiti "remains deeply flawed," and that his advice has been ignored.
The letter was originally reported by PBS News Hour and Le Nouvelliste, a Haitian newspaper.
The move comes days after jarring images circulated from the Texas border with Mexico, where thousands of Haitian migrants arrived after migrating through other Latin American countries.
"The people of Haiti, mired in poverty, hostage to terror, kidnappings, robberies, and massacres of armed gangs and suffering under a corrupt government with gang alliances, simply cannot support the forced infusion of thousands of returned migrants lacking food, shelter, and money without additional, avoidable human tragedy," Foote wrote.
Foote, who has spent his career in the Foreign Service, was appointed as Special Envoy in July.

New York State Health Commissioner Has Resigned, Hochul Says
New York state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker, who helped former Governor Andrew Cuomo respond to the coronavirus pandemic, has submitted his resignation. Governor Kathy Hochul, who replaced Cuomo, announced Zucker’s resignation on Thursday during a virus briefing. Zucker, who was appointed by Cuomo in 2015, was central to allegations the Cuomo administration covered up Covid nursing-home deaths.

Federal court vacates gun rights ruling on restricting buyers under 21A U.S. appeals court on Wednesday threw out a previous ruling it had made that found a ban on gun buyers under 21 to be unconstitutional.
The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that its previously ruling in July was now moot because the two plaintiffs in the case had recently turned 21, Reuters reported. Judge Julius Richardson said vacating the ruling he had previously authored would serve the public's interest as it would make way for further litigation in the future.
The federal judge said both the public and legal communities would benefit from this action as "the exchange of ideas between the panel and dissent will remain available as a persuasive source."
In July, the court had ruled the 21 minimum age requirement to purchase a gun was unconstitutional.
"Looking through this historical lens to the text and structure of the Constitution reveals that 18- to 20-year-olds have Second Amendment rights. Virtually every other constitutional right applies whatever the age. And the Second Amendment is no different," Richardson had written in the ruling.

Pennsylvania Republicans find 'alarming discrepancy' twice the margin of Biden's victory
Republican lawmakers in Pennsylvania say an "alarming discrepancy" in the presidential vote count is two times larger than the margin of President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the state.
Their analysis, released on Monday by state Rep. Frank Ryan and more than a dozen colleagues, found different vote counts when comparing Election Day data from counties and the Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors, or SURE, system used by Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar. They also raised suspicions about there being tens of thousands fewer votes in the presidential race than overall ballots.
All this comes more than a month after Boockvar certified election results and Gov. Tom Wolf issued a certificate of ascertainment of presidential electors, stating that Biden received 80,555 more votes than Trump.
According to the GOP analysis, county election results showed 6,962,607 total ballots were reported as being cast, while the SURE system indicated that only 6,760,230 total voters actually voted, which is a difference of 202,377 votes. The Republicans said this 202,377 gap, coupled with 31,547 fewer presidential race votes seen in county data, amounts to "an alarming discrepancy" of 170,830 votes, which is more than twice the reported statewide difference between Biden and Trump.
A small graph that appears at the bottom of their press release states that three small rural counties have not fully posted their results online, and therefore the assessment only goes off what has been reported.

2 dozen Chinese military aircraft, including fighters and bombers, fly near Taiwan in apparent show of force
Two dozen Chinese military aircraft flew near Taiwan on Thursday, according to the island's defense ministry. The aircraft included fighters, bombers, anti-submarine planes, electronic warfare aircraft, and early-warning planes.
Taiwan scrambled patrol aircraft, issued radio warnings, and tracked the planes with air-defense systems. Nineteen People's Liberation Army aircraft, including 12 J-16 fighters, two J-11 jets, two H-6 bombers, two anti-submarine-warfare aircraft, and one electronic-warfare aircraft, entered Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone Thursday morning, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense. In a second flight Thursday afternoon, two J-16s, two J-11s, and one KJ-500 early-warning aircraft, entered the ADIZ, the defense ministry said.
Both times, Taiwan deployed air patrol assets in response. The Chinese military aircraft were tracked by air-defense systems, and radio warnings were issued.
The Chinese military sends aircraft near Taiwan on a regular basis, with military flights through the island's ADIZ occurring almost daily. The ADIZ covers an area west and southwest of Taiwan but is not territorial airspace.
While many of the flight involve only a handful of aircraft, larger displays of China's military might tend tend to follow perceived threats to China's national interests, such as respect and territorial sovereignty.
The largest recorded show of force since the near-daily incursions into the ADIZ started last year occurred in July, when 28 warplanes flew past Taiwan. The move was seen as a reaction to a statement by Group of Seven leaders calling for a peaceful resolution to tensions between Taiwan and mainland China.

Embattled state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker will step down from his position as soon as a replacement can be found, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Thursday.
Zucker was a key figure in the administration of disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo, where critics charged he played a central role in its efforts to minimize and disguise the pandemic’s death toll across the state and in its nursing homes.
“He understands that, in this time, I’ve wanted to take the first 45 days to assemble a new team going forward,” Hochul said, announcing Zucker’s departure. “That process is ongoing, and he understands and he respects that.”
She added: “He also has an opportunity to move on to new ventures and I appreciate him his service.”
