I'm not sure how many truly grasp what just happened tonight with Hurricane #Ian. It went through a full eyewall replacement cycle, hardly blinked, grew by 50% (as measured by its RMW), and delivered the 3rd highest storm surge since 1913 to Key West in the process. Just wow.

and here comes the set-up...
Larry Summers Pre-Empts Coming Crash, Says Market Feels Like 2007
It's a curious coincidence that the day the name of Jeff Epstein's close buddy, Larry Summers, was being thrown around as the next Treasury secretary, Clinton's Treasury Secretary and Obama's top economist issued the loudest warning yet that something is about to break, and not just in the UK but in the US.
As a reminder, earlier today Rabo's Michael Every said this: There were rumours, long heard on the Street, that Janet Yellen is out as Treasury Secretary after the mid-term elections. Who, without a key role at present, has been all over the press talking about the need for higher rates? Larry Summers. So who is next in line, perhaps? What a shock for markets that would be. From someone who once ran the Fed to someone who wanted to run the Fed. How apt given the increased link-up between fiscal and monetary policy. Well speak of the devils.... because, according to Bloomberg, in Larry's latest bid to frontrun the coming crash and then say "I told you so"even though it was his policies in the late 1990s that enabled the current crash possible, the former (and future) Treasury Secretary likened the risks facing the global economy to the pre-crisis summer of 2007, with the UK’s current troubles just one example of potential breakdowns. “We’re living through a period of elevated risk,” Summers told Bloomberg Television’s “Wall Street Week” with David Westin. “In the same way that people became anxious in August of 2007, I think this is a moment when there should be increased anxiety.”
The summer of 2007 was when markets briefly plunged after the entire quant space went haywire for a few days, prompting substantial losses across all asset classes; the move was prompted by the first signs of strains over a collapsing US housing market, eventually morphing one year later into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.
Besides the UK, “I don’t there’s any sign that I see yet of other markets being disorderly,” (nope NOT $166T in derivatives tied to interest rates and FOREX movements..certainly not THAT >>149527 lb which Larry, Alan Greenspan and Robert Rubin basically facilitated by stomping on any attempt to regulate that-not that it would have made a difference at that point since Goldman Sachs actually had moar derivatives in 2008 than it does now but they din't have to report it becasue they did not have a commercial banking license then) said Summers, a Havard University professor and paid contributor to Bloomberg Television. “But we know that when you have extreme volatility, that’s when these situations are more likely to arise.” According to Summer, some of the dynamics behind the current fragility are substantial leverage, uncertainty about the economic policy outlook, unease about high rates of underlying inflation, volatility in commodities and geopolitical tensions tied to Russia’s Ukraine invasion and to China. Pointing out what our readers have known for much of the past year, Summers said that - like the BOE - on one hand, Japan has been withdrawing liquidity from its markets, through its purchases of yen last week in an effort to support the exchange rate. But on the other hand, it’s injecting liquidity through the Bank of Japan’s continuing monetary easing. It’s an “extraordinary thing” Summers said adding that “It will be interesting to see how that plays out." Japanese investors have “vast holdings” of fixed-income securities around the world, and that will be something to keep an eye on, he said. (He knows exactly how that is gonna turn out...a continued spike in long term rates as they sell 10-30y debt ot facilitate that operation)
Turning to the UK, Summers said that “we’re in very complex and uncharted territory,” warning that while the Bank of England’s intervention in the gilt market stabilized things for a time, that won't last, noting that the BOE’S plan is for operations to continue until Oct. 14. The key problem - according to the man who single-handedly redefined unsustainable economic policy Cough...derivatives..cough) - is that markets don’t believe UK macroeconomic policy is sustainable. “It’s not going to stay stable forever on the basis of two weeks buying -- and it’s probably not even going to stay stable for two weeks, unless there is a sense that this is a bridge to the fundamentals being fixed,” Summers said of UK markets. “And that’s not what we are seeing from the indications we’re getting this morning.”
Summers, who served at the Treasury during the Clinton administration and was director of the White House National Economic Council under President Barack Obama, said that given the current risks, “this is certainly not a time when very many firefighters should be taking vacations.” “When a country as major as Britain is going through something like this, that is something that can have consequences that go beyond,” Summers noted. He likened financial troubles to tremors before an earthquake. While sometimes the tremors pass, that’s not always the case -- as was true in 2007, he said.
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/larry-summers-pre-empts-coming-crash-says-market-feels-2007
(so they move Janet out and slide him in sounds like wut they gonna do)
What is going on in the UK is exactly the same as in Japan-they admitted as much the other day by the actions of intervening and you had all these pension funds scrambling for cash as the Pound dropped-so what did they do?-sell UK Debt which caused rates to spike-he is right about one thing-it's not gonna make one bit of difference as this spiral is just getting started-but putting him in charge of the Treasury is quite ironic)

Hurricane Ian's damage to Florida fertilizer plant creates 'concern' about rising food prices
With Hurricane Ian forcing the temporary closure of one of America’s largest fertilizer production facilities, food industry and agriculture experts are warning it could cause a spike in grocery store prices. "There's concern about storm surge, flooding, things that could impact land use, whether it's for growing crops, whether it's for fertilizer," Morning Consult analyst Emily Moquin told FOX Business’ Jeff Flock Thursday, "and eventually those things to work their way into the ingredient costs and then work their way down through the system to the prices that we see in the grocery store."
While Flock noted in his "Varney & Co." report that it’s not currently peak fertilizer season, Hurricane Ian forced Florida fertilizer maker Mosaic Co. to halt operations across Polk County for an unspecified amount of time as disaster relief efforts get underway. The company’s North American phosphate operations make up "approximately 50 percent of North American farmers’ supply of granular phosphate fertilizer, and 12 percent of the global supply" in a given year, the company said in a fact sheet. After Hurricane Ian made landfall along Florida’s west coast Wednesday afternoon, more than 2.5 million residents are left without power with some in Lee and Charlotte counties completely "off the grid," Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a press conference Thursday morning.
Florida State University business professor Chuck Nyce also predicted Hurricane Ian will create $70 billion worth of damage Wednesday evening on FOX Business' "Kennedy."
Though the exact level of damage across Mosaic’s phosphate mines remains unknown, the company’s product output is likely to decrease, which directly increases a crop’s input price and therefore its market price.
"It's something like 50% of granular fertilizer is coming from that area. It's a very high percentage, huge concentration," Fox News contributor and economist Brian Brenberg said following Flock’s report. "So you think about food prices, I think that's the price that's going to matter most when we get into the midterms. Everybody's watching that."

NYFRB Securities Lending Operations for 092922: $48.105B and still targeting the shortish end of the curve (with a 10 year thrown in for good measure)
What they do here is "lend" them so they get sold into the open markets and this is why you are seeing rates spiking so it's MASSIVELY disingenuous to hear them say "we don't know why rates are spiking"
Largest one today was the 5 year 91282CFH9 @ $3.424B
https://www.treasurydirect.gov/instit/annceresult/press/preanre/2022/R_20220824_3.pdf

https://www.treasurydirect.gov/instit/annceresult/press/preanre/2022/R_20220823_2.pdf
3rd largest is the 10 year 91282CFF3 at $2.849B
https://www.treasurydirect.gov/instit/annceresult/press/preanre/2022/R_20220912_3.pdf
4th biggest is the 5 year 9128285D8 @ $2.503B
https://www.treasurydirect.gov/instit/annceresult/press/preanre/2018/R_20180925_3.pdf
and in the 5th spot today is the 3 year 912828YW4 @ $2.111B
https://treasurydirect.gov/instit/annceresult/press/preanre/2019/R_20191209_3.pdf
You have a grand total of $14.277B directed at those issues (and they are being sold) that represents just under 30% of that total amount of $48.105B for today only-but they have "no idea" how/why rates are rising over time...:I

Meta Announces Hiring Freeze, Warns Employees of Restructuring
Meta Platforms Inc., the owner of Facebook and Instagram, said it will freeze hiring and restructure some teams in an effort to cut costs and shift priorities.
Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg announced the social networking company’s freeze during a weekly Q&A session with employees, according to a person in attendance. He added that the company would reduce budgets across most teams, even teams that are growing, and that individual teams will sort out how to handle headcount changes — whether that means not filling roles that employees depart, shifting people to other teams, or working to “manage out people who aren't succeeding,” according to remarks reviewed by Bloomberg.
“I had hoped the economy would have more clearly stabilized by now, but from what we're seeing it doesn't yet seem like it has, so we want to plan somewhat conservatively,” Zuckerberg said. A Meta spokesperson declined to comment.
Meta's further cost cuts and hiring freeze are its starkest admission that advertising revenue growth is slowing, amid mounting competition for users' attention. Meta said earlier this year that it was planning to slow hiring for some management roles, and had postponed handing out full-time jobs to summer interns. The freeze was necessary because “we want to make sure we're not adding people to teams where we don't expect to have roles next year,” Zuckerberg explained.
Zuckerberg had warned in July that that Meta would “steadily reduce headcount growth,” and that “many teams are going to shrink so we can shift energy to other areas.” Priorities internally include Reels, Meta’s TikTok competitor, and Zuckerberg’s futuristic plan for the internet, known as the metaverse. Meta had more than 83,500 employees as of June 30, and added 5,700 new hires in the second quarter. Zuckerberg said the company would be “somewhat smaller” by the end of 2023.
“For the first 18 years of the company, we basically grew quickly basically every year, and then more recently our revenue has been flat to slightly down for the first time,” he told staff Thursday.
During its first-quarter earnings call, the company said annual expenses would be roughly $3 billion lower than initially projected, trimming an estimated range that had been as high as $95 billion. In prior moves to reduce spending, a dual-camera watch the company was building to compete with the Apple Watch was shuttered.

Court orders production of Seth Rich laptop
Today, a federal judge ordered the FBI to “produce the information it possesses related to Seth Rich’s laptop.”This case involves a multi-year fight by attorney Ty Clevenger to obtain records relating to the FBI/DOJ investigation of Seth Rich, particularly whether Rich was involved in the hack of the DNC or had communicated with Wikileaks.
This fight dates back to 2017 and includes two FOIA lawsuit. In the first lawsuit, the FBI produced no responsive documents. The parties knew the FBI had something, and so this sparked a second lawsuit – where the FBI somehow found 20,000 pages of potentially responsive documents. Of those 20,000 pages, the government found 1,596 pages of responsive documents, of which the government withheld 1,469 pages under various FOIA exemptions (privacy, law enforcement exemption, etc.).
The FBI also withheld the contents of Seth Rich’s personal laptop, which it possesses, in its entirety, alleging the privacy of Rich’s family in “preventing the public release of this information” outweighs the public interest in disclosure.
The court rejected that argument, stating “the FBI has not satisfied its burden of showing more than a de minimis privacy interest that would justify withholding information from Seth Rich’s laptop.” What will the laptop reveal? Time will tell. (Time is especially relevant becausethe DOJ will appeal and drag this out.)
What might be more interesting is the FBI’s complete records on Seth Rich. The FBI has fought production of those records - first by failing to “find” its own documents, and now by alleging documents must be withheld due to “national security grounds” and the “basis that disclosure of the information would threaten intelligence-gathering efforts.”
The information in the FBI’s possession includes that which was “provided by foreign government agency authorities under an implied assurance of confidentiality.” It also may - or may not - include whether the FBI used a “code name” associated with Seth Rich. And, if FBI representations are to be believed, it also includes “details of intelligence activities, sources, and methods related to national security.” Unfortunately, the court won’t require the production of this information. Some questions will remain unanswered

'Don't look at all the settlements in the last 48 hours.....here's yet another one
Barclays agrees to $361 million settlement with SEC for over-issuance of securities
The Securities and Exchange Commission charged Barclays PLC for the sale of $17.7 billion in unregistered securities, the regulator said Thursday. "This case highlights why it is essential for firms like Barclays BCS, -2.70% to have robust internal controls over their offers and sales of securities," said Gurbir S. Grewal, director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement, in a statement. "The control deficiencies and the scope of the conduct at issue here was simply staggering." The bank agreed to pay a $200 million civil penalty and a disgorgement and prejudgment interest of more than $161 million in connection with the case. Barclays self reported its over-issuance to regulators and provided "meaningful cooperation" during the SEC's investigation, the SEC said.

Skeptical judge won’t dismiss Durham’s case against dossier source Igor Danchenko
The judge presiding over the case against Igor Danchenko, a source for British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s discredited dossier on former President Donald Trump, ruled he won’t dismiss the indictment but expressed skepticism about some of the false statements charges brought by special counsel John Durham.
The Russian-born lawyer has pleaded not guilty and had an attempt to dismiss Durham’s case against him shot down in court on Thursday by Judge Anthony Trenga of the Eastern District of Virginia. “The motion is denied,” the judge ruled during the Alexandria court hearing. However, the judge said he would revisit his ruling after Durham’s team had presented its full case during the October trial. Trenga, a George W. Bush appointee who has sat on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, added that “I think it’s an extremely close call, particularly with count one” related to longtime Hillary Clinton ally Chuck Dolan. The judge said he "has to conclude at this point" that he couldn’t say definitively that Danchenko’s statement related to Dolan was literally true, concluding that “there are sufficient arguments of context” to allow the trial to move forward.
Trenga also said that, regarding the Millian-related charges, he “can’t conclude that there is an undisputed fact that is not actionable” through criminal charges.
The indictment argued that Danchenko “stated falsely that he had never communicated with” Dolan “about any allegations contained” in the dossier, while “in truth and in fact, and as Danchenko well knew, Danchenko sourced one or more specific allegations” in the dossier anonymously to Dolan.

Saw dis earlier totally plausible as they were also sending another one up outta Northholz (near Bremerhaven) prior to this one.
It is not uncommon to see these but perhaps this one (below and cap #3) was used as a decoy?
Not saying that is exactly wut habbened but as the OP suggests this is WAY moar believable than the shit they are peddling in the MSM by FAR
