Talk about your cowardly challenges – A public debate moderated by CNN focused on the illegal immigration crisis? Surely such an event would not be rigged in favor of a far left politician like Gavin Newsom...

The California Governor seems to have been triggered by recent comments from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis about Newsom's hair gel usage and mental dysfunction. Media outlet CNN, which has been bleeding viewers as well as cash for years, is desperate for any attention and its CEO Chris Litch immediately jumped on the prospect (suggested by Dan Rather) of a debate between the two leaders of two of the most populace states in the US. Newsom of course quickly volunteered for the opportunity, telling DeSantis to “bring his hairspray”:

"Hey @GovRonDeSantis, clearly you're struggling, distracted, and busy playing politics with people's lives. Since you have only one overriding need — attention — let's take this up & debate. I'll bring my hair gel. You bring your hairspray."

It is unconfirmed whether or not DeSantis actually uses hairspray. A public debate between the two state governors would have to be on neutral ground, which discounts every single major corporate news outlet in the country these days, CNN in particular. If those were the conditions it's unlikely that Gavin Newsom would be as excited about the idea.

The conflict over the illegal immigration issue has exploded in recent months as conservative governors bus and fly migrants directly to leftist controlled cities. As democrats face actual economic consequences for their open border policies, they have become increasingly angry and bitter, projecting their ire onto red states while ignoring the primary point being made – If their shelter and welfare systems in wealthy cities can't even deal with a few thousand migrants, how can they expect border states and small towns to deal with millions of illegals every year?

Stimulus update: Direct one-time inflation relief checks worth $1,050 to be sent out in just weeks

Eligible Californians will receive a one time direct payment of up to $1,050 as a form of inflation relief in a matter of weeks, as prices continue to rise for consumers.

The payments, titled the Middle Class Tax Refund,will be shipped out beginning in Octobereither via direct deposit or debit cards from the state. The refunds are part of a larger $12 billion relief effort approved by lawmakers in Sacramento this summer, with roughly 23 million residents eligible for the refund.

The dollar amount on the direct payments will depend on the income of recipients and if they have any dependents. Married filers making $150,000 or less and having a dependent will receive a payment of $1,050, and single filers making between $125,001 and $250,000 with no dependents will receive a payment of $200.

To qualify for the payments, applicants must have been residents for six months of the 2020 tax year, filed 2020 taxes by Oct. 15, 2021, and earned less than $250,000 a year for individual filers or less than $500,000 a year for couples. The state also said that if someone was eligible to be claimed as a dependent for taxes in 2020, he or she is ineligible.

- Tuesday, Sept 20th -

8:30 AM: Housing Starts for August. The consensus is for 1.445 million SAAR, down from 1.446 million SAAR. During the day: The AIA's Architecture Billings Index for August (a leading indicator for commercial real estate).

Atlanta Federal Reserve (KANGZZZ Bostic) updates it's yo-yo GDPNOW forecast

- Wednesday, Sept 21st -

7:00 AM ET: The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) will release the results for the mortgage purchase applications index.

10:00 AM: Existing Home Sales for August from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The consensus is for 4.70 million SAAR, down from 4.81 million in July.

2:00 PM: FOMC Meeting Announcement. The FOMC is expected to raise the Fed Funds rate by 75bp at this meeting-outside chance of 100bp (we'll see what habbens om Mon-Wedsas plenty of time for Euro-land to panic and crash the market(s) so they don't do nuffin but the way it's all controlled via High Frequency Trading (HFT) this has less of a chance of occurring on own-if it does habben they will have allowed it guaranteed'''

Japan braces for possible landing of strong typhoon on Kyushu region

Japan on Sunday braced for the possibility of a large and powerful typhoon landing on its southwestern region of Kyushu, with the weather agency warning of unprecedented winds and waves, and calling for the highest level of caution.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said Typhoon Nanmadol has moved slowly northward to Kyushu and is forecast to come very close to the region on Sunday through Monday.

The agency, which issued a special typhoon warning for Kagoshima Prefecture on Saturday night, said that some areas in Kyushu and the Shikoku region in western Japan could see linear rainbands through Monday morning.

This marks the first time the agency has issued a special typhoon warning for an area apart from Okinawa Prefecture. Although the typhoon, the 14th this season, had weakened by 3 a.m. Sunday, there was still a possibility of maximum gusts of around 250 kilometers per hour. In Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture, maximum wind speeds of up to 156.6 kph were recorded on Sunday morning. The typhoon, which had an atmospheric pressure of 925 hectopascals at its center, is expected to curve eastward after reaching northern Kyushu and travel across Japan's main archipelago.

The agency said southern Kyushu could receive up to 600 millimeters of rain in the 24 hours to 6 a.m. Monday, while northern Kyushu and Shikoku could see up to 400 mm of rainfall.

A "violent typhoon" named Nanmadol is approaching Japan's south, with landfall expected Sunday afternoon.

Nanmadol, the 14th typhoon of the season, is about 280 miles east of Okinawa, a southern Japanese archipelago (as of Saturday morning), according to Japan Meteorological Agency.

JMA said Nanmadol is heading northwest at 12 mph with sustained winds around 123 mph near its center, gusting upwards of 168 mph. It has been classified as a "super typhoon" by the US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center.

Nanmadol is forecasted to make landfall Sunday afternoon on the southern island of Kyushu -- expected to dump 20 inches of rain and winds that could be equivalent in strength to a Category 5 hurricane, according to Reuters.
