Katie Wilson agrees to turn on CCTV cameras near FIFA World Cup games after urging from councilmembers, 'general but credible threats'

"The breadth and depth of intelligence gathering that informed the briefing identified general but credible threats to safety and security during the games."

Socialist Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson revealed on Friday that due to "general but credible threats to safety and security" detailed by the FBI and Seattle police, cameras in the Stadium District will be activated during FIFA World Cup games.

"Earlier this week, I received an updated briefing from the Seattle Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation on the current global and local threat environment. The breadth and depth of intelligence gathering that informed the briefing identified general but credible threats to safety and security during the games. While not unexpected given an event of this magnitude, this information has persuaded our law enforcement, emergency management, and FIFA security partners that we should be operating at a heightened risk level. Given this information, the Stadium District cameras will be activated during the FIFA World Cup tournament," Wilson said in a statement.

She said that the safety of "residents, visitors, and fans is our highest priority, and I understand that many community members are deeply concerned about privacy, civil liberties, and the appropriate use of public safety technology."

"I share those values. While I have decided to have the cameras ready to help us quickly establish situational awareness near the stadiums if needed, we will continue honing our policies and protections to safeguard the data these videos capture." She said that partner agencies for the event have "developed a strong thoughtful plan that prioritizes both public safety and the positive experience of everyone attending these events."

Wilson had announced in March plans to pause the expansion of the Real-Time Crime Center CCTV camera program pending the completion of an audit of privacy and data governance. She said at the time that the installation of cameras in the Stadium District would continue, but cameras would not be turned on unless there was a credible threat.

Seattle City Council members urged the cameras to be turned on for the games, which are expected to draw thousands of fans to the city for the event. Councilmember Bob Kettle sent a letter to Wilson urging her to turn them on, and that the decision to pause the cameras’ use "is not contemplated by the ordinances passed by the City Council that authorize and appropriate funds for this public safety initiative." He said that Seattle "is the only one of the 11 host cities without a fully active CCTV system. Leaving this vulnerability unaddressed is an unwarranted and reckless risk to public safety."

In late May, Councilmember Rob Saka urged Wilson to turn the cameras on for the event, citing his experience at the Boston Marathon in 2013, where a fatal bombing took place. "In 2013, me and my wife ran the Boston Marathon. And then the first of the bombs went off, and I'll never forget. And then another device exploded shortly thereafter," he said during a Public Safety Committee meeting.

Saka, who represents the district where the games will take place, credited Boston’s CCTV cameras for helping law enforcement identify the bombers. "The stadium district cameras have already been authorized. The infrastructure exists, and I believe that waiting for a purported credible threat before activating those tools is far too reactive for an event of this magnitude," he said.

Speaking with the Ari Hoffman Show on 570 KVI, Seattle Police Officers Guild President Kent Loux said that the mayor’s office had demanded that a social media post from the union highlighting how the CCTV cameras help solve crimes be taken down. "We basically said, how many more examples do you need of these cameras working," he said of the post.

Hertsmere Borough Council Approves £4 Billion Project as Part of UK's AI Action Plan

One of Europe’s largest data centres is set to be constructed in Hertfordshire, within London’s commuter belt, following recent approval by Hertsmere Borough Council.

The £4 billion DC01UK project, described by the developers as Europe's largest cloud and AI data centre, will span approximately 2 million square feet and is targeted for completion by 2029.

This development aligns with the UK Government's recently launched AI Action Plan, which has designated data centres as critical national infrastructure essential to the nation's technological advancement.

The Minister for Telecoms, Sir Chris Bryant, highlighted the significance of data centres, describing them as central to modern digital infrastructure and vital for the country's economic and technological strategies.

The data centre, situated near the M25 motorway and overseen by the company DC01UK, will occupy 85 acres and is expected to generate 500 construction jobs, 200 permanent skilled positions, and more than 13,700 indirect jobs.

Transportation improvements, including bus route expansions and road upgrades, are also planned as part of the project.

Jeremy Newmark, leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, referred to the project as a significant development for the borough.

He emphasized ongoing public consultations to ensure community engagement during the project's development phase.

Despite the project's potential economic benefits, it has faced scrutiny from environmental groups concerned about its impact on green belt land.

While some community leaders support the development, environmental advocates, such as Peter Waine of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, have raised concerns over the use of green belt land, emphasizing the importance of preserving open spaces.

Google’s New CAPTCHA Plans Will Create a Two-Tier Internet Only Accessible to Those With ‘Approved’ Devices

Never mind Fancy Bear, or the NSO Group, the biggest threat to the open internet today is from the Big Tech corporations on which it has come to depend. For what else are we to conclude given that Google appears to be working on a system to lock large parts of the internet behind a new form of CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) designed not to tell apart humans from bots, but instead to make an un-person of anyone who doesn’t own an ‘approved’ Android or Apple device.

Google’s reCAPTCHA service is used by a wide variety of websites, many of them independent of Google in every other regard, to limit incoming traffic or data entered into contact forms. It is intended to prevent automated software from accessing these resources and using them to send spam messages or flood websites with denial of service attacks. You have probably encountered it when told to identify all the bicycles in a grid of images.

Under the auspices of its Cloud Fraud Defence programme, Google is introducing a new form of CAPTCHA for which the way to ‘prove’ one is a human is to be in possession of a Google-approved device. Reclaim the Net‘s original reporting focused on the threat to deGoogled phones, meaning phones running Android-like operating systems which have Google’s – often unwelcome – proprietary features removed, such as GrapheneOS or LineageOS. However, just as the dull name of ‘age verification‘ serves as a cloak beneath which schemes to end all truly personal computing can be smuggled, the danger here could be much broader than the technically focused headline implies. As the sources discussing this are relatively few, it is hard to ascertain exactly what has already been rolled out and what is still in the conceptual stages. But it appears that the new style of CAPTCHA threatens not just users with deGoogled phones but anyone without an ‘approved’ device. Google’s own documentation confirms the existence – as a “Preview” in limited use with alternative options presently existing – of CAPTCHAs which require an Apple or Android handset to pass them. But it describes this in a “Mobile Verification” context, which may imply a more limited use than reCAPTCHA in general. However, with such functionality possible, there is no reason that Google could not activate this, without alternative options, everywhere that its reCAPTCHA-branded prompts appear.

Knowing that locking out everyone except Android users would have even the most clueless politicians smelling a monopoly, Google has deigned to also allow Apple iOS users through, but their approval is nonetheless limited to devices where the full tech stack is under corporate control. Apple phones and tablets use a locked bootloader to trap users within a walled garden, where they are at Apple’s mercy whenever an unwelcome new feature is introduced. Unless the Keep Android Open campaign succeeds, certified Android devices will soon be scarcely better, a condition of certification being that manufacturers must obstruct users from side-loading to install apps from outside Google’s Play Store.

Because Apple and Android phones do not respect your freedom, Google chooses to trust them. That’s an odd-sounding sentence, so let me explain.

More than 4,600 Indians have been deported from the US to India in the last 17 months since the US administration led by President Donald Trump assumed office in January last year.

One of the areas where Sharia law appears to be making inroads into American society is through the U.S. financial system.

Under Sharia, or Islamic, law, charging interest (“riba”) on loans or earning interest on deposits is forbidden for even observant Muslims living in America, a strange anachronism in a country where interest- and credit-based finance is a cornerstone of the economy.

According to Sharia-compliant fatwas, or rulings, recently issued by the Fiqh Council of North America, Muslims are prohibited even from investing in the stocks of any companies whose interest-based debt exceeds 30% of their market capitalization, or whose interest-based deposits exceed 30% of the market cap of their total equity. Investing in the U.S. aerospace-defense industry is also forbidden (haram). So too is investing in any industries dealing in conventional banking and finance, pork products, entertainment, alcohol, or gambling. Or companies doing business with Israel.

US puts India under Section 301 scanner, says failures in forced labour import policy ‘actionable under US Trade Act’

Section 301 is a provision of the US Trade Act of 1974 that authorises the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to investigate foreign government policies, practices or regulations that burden or restrict US commerce.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has placed India under scrutiny in a fresh Section 301 investigation, concluding that the country has not put in place and effectively enforced restrictions on the import of goods produced through forced labour. The findings, released as part of a review covering 60 economies, state that India’s existing approach is actionable under Section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974.

The investigation assessed the policies and practices of 60 economies that collectively account for more than 99 per cent of US imports.

-USTR cites enforcement gaps

According to the report, India was found to have failed to establish and effectively implement a prohibition on imports linked to forced labour. The USTR said this shortcoming falls within the scope of action under Section 301.

The USTR determined that the absence of such measures is unreasonable and has the effect of burdening or restricting US commerce.

-What is Section 301?

Section 301 is a provision of the US Trade Act of 1974 that authorises the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to investigate foreign government policies, practices or regulations that are considered unfair, unreasonable or discriminatory and that burden or restrict US commerce. Following an investigation, the USTR can recommend measures such as additional tariffs, import restrictions, suspension of trade concessions or other trade actions against the country concerned.

The USTR said India was among 54 economies that do not have a legal prohibition on the import of goods produced wholly or partly through forced labour.

The report separately identified six economies: Canada, Ecuador, the European Union, Indonesia, Mexico and Pakistan, as jurisdictions that have such prohibitions in place but, according to the USTR, have not enforced them effectively.

The review was initiated in March 2026 and focused on economies from which more than 99 per cent of US imports originate.

According to the report, the absence of forced labour import restrictions can affect market conditions, create competitive imbalances and weaken international efforts aimed at eliminating forced labour from global supply chains.

The USTR argued that such failures can result in unfair competition for American producers in both domestic and international markets.

The report stated that economies which do not prohibit or effectively enforce restrictions on forced labour-linked imports contribute to trade distortions and undermine efforts to prevent the circulation of such goods.

Based on its findings, the USTR concluded that India’s existing framework concerning imports allegedly linked to forced labour is unreasonable and places restrictions on US commercial interests.

Senate Democrats Demand Government Stop Minting Gold Coin With Trump On It

Two Democratic senators have written to the U.S. Mint to urge the institution to halt production of gold coins with President Donald Trump on them, citing the possibility that the gold is from cartel-owned mines.

Last month, a federal advisory panel with members handpicked by Trump approved a design for a 24-karat gold coin featuring the president’s likeness on the obverse. The coin is being minted to commemorate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. Approval of the coin came amid internal discussions about putting Trump on a new $250 bill for the occasion, despite a U.S. law prohibiting living people from appearing on U.S. currency.

In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis dated Thursday, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) called on the Mint to stop producing the coin.

“We request that the U.S. Mint halt all production of the 250th anniversary 24-karat Trump gold coin and conduct a public supply chain audit to ensure coins are not composed of illicit cartel-linked gold,” Warren and Wyden wrote, who are the ranking members of the Senate Banking and Finance committees, respectively. “We have previously raised concerns about the Mint’s plan to release a 24-karat gold coin featuring President Trump’s image for the country’s 250th anniversary and how it will in any way benefit the American public as our nation confronts an affordability crisis of President Trump’s own making.”

The senators listed six questions to be answered by June 18, including inquiries about where the coin is in the production process and what due diligence was conducted to ascertain the origin of the gold being used.

“It is troubling enough that the Mint has developed a coin bearing the President’s image, which is more befitting a monarchy than a democracy,” the senators wrote. “At the very least, the Mint should ensure that a coin intended to honor the nation’s 250th anniversary is not made of gold linked to exploitation and criminal activity.”

Last week, Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) predicted that despite the law barring living people on U.S. currency, the Trump administration will do so anyway.

Do I expect them to follow the law? No, I don’t,” Smith said. “I mean, they’re supposedly asking us this session to change the Department of Defense to the Department of War. But again, they’ve already done that. So no, I’m sure Trump will print up his $250 bill just like he put his name on the money.”

California and New York Preparing to Sue to Block Paramount from Acquiring Warner Bros

A group of states led by California and New York is preparing to sue to block Paramount Skydance from acquiring Warner Bros., Reuters reported on Friday.

Last year’s merger between Paramount and Skydance already sparked criticism over concerns about antitrust issues and the impact of centralizing control of major media and entertainment companies. The criticism grew as Paramount settled a lawsuit President Donald Trump had filed against CBS News over a 60 Minutes interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, which numerous legal experts had assessed as a fundamentally weak case on First Amendment grounds. It was widely speculated that political motivations overrode Paramount’s initial instincts to fight the litigation, because the company needed approval from Trump’s FCC chair Brendan Carr to get the merger to go through.

Post-merger, Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison’s decision to bring on Free Press founder Bari Weiss as the editor in chief for CBS News has further ruffled feathers.

Weiss’ tenure has been rocky, to say the least, with CBS News and its programs sometimes seeming to be the news more than reporting it. She was lambasted both internally and in the media for delaying a 60 Minutes on the CECOT prison facility in El Salvador, plus the departure of several longtime staffers and other upheaval with the show.

Anderson Cooper not only rejected Weiss’ offer to take over the anchor desk for CBS Evening News but also declined an offer to renew his contract with 60 Minutes.

And the person Weiss ultimately tapped for that anchor spot, Tony Dokoupil, has generated a series of negative and unlucky stories ranging from tech snafus to accusations of bias.

After completing the merger with Skydance, Paramount next set its sights on Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of CNN. Elected officials like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have publicly objected to the merger as an “antitrust disaster,” and more than 1,000 Hollywood actors, directors, producers, and other entertainment industry professionals signed an open letter objecting to the proposed merger because it “would further consolidate an already concentrated media landscape, reducing competition at a moment when our industries — and the audiences we serve — can least afford it.”

According to the report by Reuters’ Jody Godoy, “sources familiar with the matter” have said that a group of states including California and New York “are preparing a lawsuit to block” the merger, and expect to file it “in the coming weeks.”

The sources did not specify which other states would be involved in the lawsuit, which Godoy described as “the boldest move yet by the states in their effort to be at the forefront ​of U.S. antitrust enforcement.” It seems likely that the participating states would be limited to those with Democratic-majority state governments, or at least Democratic state attorneys general, due to Trump’s support for Ellison and his takeover of Paramount — not to mention his frequent attacks on CNN and open praise for the idea of an ideological takeover of the network.

On Thursday, California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) bashed Trump for his administration’s “abdication” of federal antitrust enforcement, and has expressed concerns about the merger. A spokesperson for Bonta’s office told Reuters that California’s investigation of the proposed merger is still active and declined to offer further comment.

A lawsuit like this challenging the merger is not guaranteed to succeed, Godoy’s report noted, but is likely to cause at least several months of delay, especially if the plaintiffs can convince a judge to issue an injunction pausing the merger while the litigation proceeds.

The merger is also still under review by the Department of Justice, which sent subpoenas in late March ” seeking information on how the merger would affect studio output, content rights, streaming competition and movie theaters,” wrote Godoy, but it is expected to reach a decision soon.

“We will continue to fight against any ​attempt to derail ⁠a deal that plainly benefits consumers, creators, and the industry as a whole,” a Paramount spokesperson said.

The brother of Henry Nowak's murderer was filmed holding a Sikh ceremonial sword in the street during an apparent road rage incident outside a Hindu temple, the Daily Mail can reveal today.

Gurpreet Digwa, 27, was seen with the bladed weapon beside a Mercedes A180 while arguing with a fellow motorist in Southampton last year.

Videos circulating online showed him shouting as another man held him back outside the city's Vedic Society Hindu Temple.

Multiple sources in Southampton, with knowledge of the incident, identified the man with the ceremonial sword as Gurpreet Digwa.

It is not known when the incident took place, but one witness who lives on the street claimed it was around the time of the murder of Henry by Gurpreet's younger brother Vickrum.

Hampshire Constabulary have been unable to find details of the incident and it came amid growing fury about 'two-tiered policing' in the UK. President Donald Trump highlighted Henry's case in the US overnight.

In footage uncovered by the Mail, Gurpreet can be seen shouting and being held back by another man while clutching what appears to be a Sikh ceremonial sword.

Wearing blue Sikh clothing, he is then dragged away before getting into a black A-Class Mercedes.

People can also be heard yelling: 'You've got a problem' and 'not nice' at him. He was also warned he was being filmed.

The family of the man shown restraining Gurpreet and dragging him away said they 'condemn what happened' and have no links to the Digwas.

The video was filmed on the road just outside the Vedic Society Hindu Temple.

Relatives of the other man in the footage said: 'We don't want to be involved at all. This family has nothing to do with the Digwa family.

'That is definitely Gurpreet, the elder brother in the video. We totally condemn what happened. We just want peace and love. We don't want to get involved with this at all. If you have seen the video, then you will know it just shows road rage.'

Nina Padure, who lives on Radcliffe Road where the incident took place, said she came outside after two groups of men began 'screaming' at each other.

She told the Mail: 'I heard two cars stop, then saw those guys come out with that big sword. I heard them shouting. The guy wanted beef with them.

'When he got out of the car, he took the weapon with him. It was quite quick — they were shouting but not for very long, not even five minutes. He got into the back on the driver's side. I was worried seeing someone carrying a sword around.'

On Monday, Gurpreet's brother Vickrum Digwa, 23, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 21 years for the murder of 18-year-old Henry last December.

Anger erupted after police bodyworn video was released showing Henry being placed in handcuffs moments before he became unconscious and subsequently died.

The trial heard that Sikh man Vickrum had lied to police attending the scene by saying he had been racially abused by Henry and denying he had stabbed him.

On Tuesday, Vickrum, Gurpreet and their father Moga Singh, 52, appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court after being charged with multiple weapons offences.

The trio faced six counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place. The alleged weapons are a flick knife, an extendable baton, knuckledusters, a machete, swords and kusaris.

Gurpreet faced four additional charges of possessing an offensive weapon, an asp, in a public place, possessing a prohibited weapon, an air rifle, possessing an axe in a public place and possessing a knife, a kirpan, in a public place.

All of the offences are dated December 4, 2025 – the day after the incident in which Henry was killed.

Jennifer Pitt, chair of the magistrates, adjourned the proceedings until a further hearing on July 9 and released Moga and Gurpreet on unconditional bail until then, and Vickrum on technical bail as he is serving a jail sentence.

Violent protests erupted near where Henry was fatally stabbed, amid an outcry over his treatment, after Vickrum claimed he had been the victim of a racial attack.

At the same time, shocking video footage showed how Henry was handcuffed by police who ignored his pleas that he could not breathe as he lay dying.

Henry's family want to 'bring common sense back' to policing, Kemi Badenoch said after meeting his bereaved parents yesterday.

The Tory leader has called for changes to how police forces address equality rules following the public outcry over the death of the 18-year-old.

Here we go again.

If you have been following the race for mayor of Los Angeles, you have probably noticed that Spencer Pratt’s lead is slowly being eroded and Nithya Raman, the far left Democratic Socialist (communist) candidate keeps gaining.

The explanation for this is very simple. It’s fraud. Raman is benefiting from the state’s system of mail-in ballots, which SOMEHOW always benefits the left. Isn’t it fascinating how ballots that are tabulated after the election always benefit just one side?

NBC News recently admitted this on the air, without a hint of irony.

REPORTER: Why would those votes, we don’t know what they’re gonna be, but why would the mail-in votes, the later votes, break for Raman, possibly?

STEVE KORNACKI: Because that is the pattern in California with this system. We’ve seen this now probably for about a decade out there. It’s those votes that get tabulated after election day, they tend to be almost always or heavily, heavily Democratic. We’ve seen this in congressional races in California now over the last decade or so where on election night, we’ve had cases where, a number of them where the Republican candidate is ahead on election night and then it’s a process over days, sometimes even weeks in these key congressional races where just with every one of the updates like the one you just saw right here in LA, the Democrats get closer and closer and closer.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), an open borders-backing NGO fronted by former Labour Foreign Secretary David Miliband has been accused of “hushing up” allegations of more than 30 crimes.

UK government ministers froze funds to the NGO, which is a major partner of globalist billionaire George Soros, “based on direct reporting of sexual harassment and fraud”, it was reported this week.

With nearly five and a half million pounds of taxpayer cash at stake, a team from the IRC was sent to look into claims made over the body’s behaviour in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

But according to The Sun, when an IRC team was sent to Africa to look into 24 cases where the scandal was first reported, it found a further 13 ethics breaches.

Trump isn’t just leading the GOP… he’s reshaping it.

Obama never really achieved that level of control over Democrats, even while he was sitting in the Oval Office. Unless, of course, you count the way his presidency helped open the door for the party’s radical fringe to move from the sidelines into the driver’s seat,which some would argue has been a total disaster… but that’s another story.

But these days,his political endorsements are starting to look like the kiss of political death.

The latest examplecame last night out of Georgia, where two very high-profile judicial candidates backed by Obama and Kamala Harris just lost badly== in races Dems desperately needed to win.

Obama’s candidates didn’t win. As a matter of fact, everything Barry touches turns to shit these days.

And his latest concrete hellscape in Chicago could be the final nail in his cement coffin.

The Trump administration’s war on fraud is showing no signs of slowing down.

In the latest installment of “Fraud Friday,” Department of Labor Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito highlighted several major convictions involving unemployment insurance fraud, stolen identities, and pandemic-era scams that ripped off American taxpayers for millions of dollars.

D’Esposito, who was sworn in as the ninth Inspector General of the Department of Labor earlier this year, has made rooting out fraud and abuse a central mission of his office.

First up: Michigan rapper Jaiswan “J’Swan” Williams is heading to federal prison for more than 10 years after orchestrating a $63 million scheme involving stolen mail and online check trafficking. Williams had already admitted to stealing $1.5 million in fraudulent pandemic unemployment insurance claims using the stolen identities of dozens of innocent Americans.

Next: Kiara Smith, a former contractor at the Maryland Department of Labor, was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison plus one year of supervised release. Smith and her co-conspirators stole over $3.5 million in unemployment insurance benefits. She’ll pay back every cent — $3.5 million in restitution plus a $275,000 criminal forfeiture.

This one stings especially hard. A state labor department contractor using her work laptop and insider access to rubber-stamp fraudulent claims. This is exactly the kind of betrayal that exploded during the Biden years when verification was thrown out the window and billions vanished.

Finally: Jackie Smith, an Illinois woman, was sentenced to over 3 years in federal prison for her role in a multi-state scheme that defrauded unemployment insurance programs of roughly $100,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic. She owes more than $95,000 in restitution and faces three additional years of supervised release.

IG D’Esposito delivered the bottom line every American taxpayer needs to hear:

“We will continue to pursue every last fraudster who thought they could take advantage of you, the American people, whether it’s thousands or whether it’s millions, whether you’re a celebrity or a state employee or a private citizen. If you defraud the American people, we will find you. We will investigate you and we will bring you to justice. As Vice President J.D. Vance said, no fraud is too small and no scheme is too large. We are targeting all of it and coming for all of you.”

A darkened and mysterious north polar region known to some as Mordor Macula caps this premier view of Charon, Pluto's largest moon. The high-resolution image was captured by the interplanetary space probe New Horizons near its closest approach to distant Pluto on July 14, 2015. The combined blue, red, and infrared image data was processed to enhance colors and follow variations in Charon's surface properties with a resolution of about 2.9 kilometers (1.8 miles). A stunning image of Charon's Pluto-facing hemisphere, it also features a clear view of an apparently moon-girdling belt of fractures and canyons that seems to separate smooth southern plains from varied northern terrain. Charon is 1,214 kilometers (754 miles) across. That's about 1/10th the size of planet Earth but a whopping 1/2 the diameter of Pluto itself, and makes it the largest satellite relative to its parent body in the Solar System. Still, the moon appears as a small bump at about the 1 o'clock position on Pluto's disk in the grainy, negative, telescopic picture inset at upper left. NASA Provides Update on Space Station Leak

The Zvezda service module’s transfer tunnel, known as the PrK, on the International Space Station has experienced cracks since 2019 that have resulted in small atmosphere leaks and prompted ongoing monitoring and repair efforts by Roscosmos.

NASA and Roscosmos have worked together to identify the root cause while Roscosmos has been applying leak mitigation measures, including temporary and permanent sealants.

The week of June 1, during Progress 95 spacecraft cargo operations, Roscosmos noted an increase of the previous leak rate to two pounds per day and identified new suspected leak areas in the PrK.

Following this observation, Roscosmos made the decision to begin work toward a more extensive inspection and structural repair effort Friday morning.

This revised approach involved cutting a bracket to better access an area identified as a possible leak source for further inspection, using a method that could have resulted in elevated risk to the structure in the area.

In response, NASA directed the four SpaceX Crew-12 members and NASA astronaut Chris Williams, who flew to station aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft, to take a heightened safety posture, known as a safe haven, inside the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft during the procedure.

Later Friday morning, Roscosmos paused and did not perform the structural repair work in favor of conducting additional measurements and data assessments, which included inspection of suspected areas of interest and review of areas where sealant was previously applied.

NASA’s experimental X-59 aircraft marked a major milestone Friday, June 5, when it flew faster than the speed of sound for the first time, setting the stage for demonstrating its quiet supersonic capabilities later this year.

NASA test pilot Jim “Clue” Less took off and landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California, reaching a top speed of approximately Mach 1.1 (713 mph) and altitude of 43,400 feet.

The X-59’s flight began at 11:08 a.m. PDT and lasted 81 minutes, with the team focusing on flying qualities at both subsonic and then supersonic speeds.

”X-59 is getting ready for its quiet supersonic debut. Since the aircraft’s first flight on Oct. 28, 2025, the team has made tremendous progress, flying 16 times in the last 90 days and getting into a steady test rhythm.

In the coming days, we expect to take the next step and push to Mach 1.4,” said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman “I’m grateful to the NASA team and Lockheed Martin Skunk Works for their help getting us to this point, and I hope this is the first of many collaborations as we rebuild NASA’s X-plane portfolio.”

The X-59 is designed to fly at supersonic speeds while creating only a quiet thump instead of a loud sonic boom. For this flight, a NASA F‑15 chase plane flew nearby to monitor the X‑59. The loud sonic booms from the F-15 obscured any sound made by the X-59.

“The X-59’s first supersonic flight is a testament to America’s enduring leadership in science, engineering, and aerospace innovation,” said Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy. “This achievement comes as the Trump Administration continues work to unleash supersonic flight and enable American ingenuity.”

This first supersonic flight is a significant milestone, but an event even more critical to the mission is upcoming.

In just days, the aircraft is expected to make its first “mission conditions” flight, reaching a cruising speed of Mach 1.4 (925 mph) and altitude of approximately 55,000 feet. The X-59 also will be accompanied by a chase plane for this flight.

This speed and altitude are the base conditions for the X-59 when it will eventually fly over several U.S. communities enabling NASA to gather data about how people may perceive its quiet thump.

NASA will share this data with U.S. and international regulators to help establish new data-driven noise standards to enable a future viable market for supersonic commercial flight over land.

For the last several months, the X-59 has been participating in an ongoing series of flights where the plane has been flying at a wide range of speeds and altitudes – a process known as envelope expansion.

These tests are the first phase of the X-59’s flight testing. They are focused on performance and involve chase plane monitoring. When the aircraft completes this phase it will enter another, focused on its sound profile in order to verify its quiet thump capability.

The X-59 is the centerpiece of NASA’s Quesst mission, which aims to demonstrate quiet supersonic flight and help enable commercial supersonic flight over land worldwide.

These advancements will help travelers reach their preferred destinations faster, spending less time in the air.

Through Quesst’s development of the X-59, NASA also will deliver design tools and technology for quiet supersonic airliners that will achieve the high speeds desired by commercial operators without disturbing people on the ground.

NASA will validate design tools through ground and flight testing, providing U.S. aircraft manufacturers the ability to explore new quiet supersonic concepts, and provide them with confidence that their resulting designs will meet quiet flight requirements.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Kigali on June 4 to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence and 64 years of diplomatic relations between Rwanda and the United States, Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe highlighted Rwanda’s interest in working more closely with the U.S. space agency, NASA.

“As a member of the Artemis Accords community, Rwanda remains keen to explore practical avenues of collaboration with NASA and looks forward to identifying mutually beneficial initiatives that can contribute to scientific advancement, capacity building and economic development,” Nduhungirehe said.

The Artemis Accords are a framework of international agreements designed to guide cooperation in civil space exploration, particularly future lunar missions, scientific research, technological development, and other space-related activities.

Rwanda’s growing interest in space cooperation is underpinned by an ambitious national space program led by the Rwanda Space Agency, which was established in 2020.

The agency focuses on leveraging space technology to drive socio-economic development through Earth observation, climate resilience, agriculture, environmental monitoring, and disaster management.

The country launched its first satellite, RwSat-1, in 2019 and is currently developing a hyperspectral satellite designed to enhance Earth observation capabilities. Rwanda also operates a Tier 3-certified teleport and is implementing its National Space Policy adopted in 2025.

Through partnerships with countries including Japan and the United Arab Emirates, as well as its participation in the Artemis Accords, Rwanda is seeking to build a competitive space ecosystem and position itself as an emerging player in the global space sector.

Nduhungirehe described Rwanda-U.S. relations as having grown beyond traditional diplomatic engagement into a broader strategic partnership.

“Over the past decade, our cooperation has evolved into a strategic relationship grounded in shared interests and a commitment to delivering tangible results for our peoples,” he said.

SEATTLE — With the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to kick off in fewer than two weeks, excitement in the region is building.

The Space Needle unveiled a new paint job on its roof on Friday: a giant soccer ball.

The World Cup is the most-watched sporting event on the planet, with billions across the globe tuning in to watch the tournament.

The Space Needle said in a press release that the new coat of paint is a joint project between the Space Needle and the Seattle FIFA World Cup 26 (SeattleFWC26) local organizing committee, intended to welcome fans with "something they have never seen before."

"With just days until the world arrives in Seattle, this activation captures the energy building across our region," said Peter Tomozawa, CEO of SeattleFWC26.

"The Space Needle is one of the most recognizable landmarks on the planet. Seeing it reimagined as a soccer ball sends a powerful message that Seattle is ready to welcome the world."

Crews worked 605 feet off the ground above Seattle Center to carefully apply the custom soccer ball design to the tower's sloped roof, Space Needle said.

"Throughout its history, the Space Needle has played a role in some of the most defining moments for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest," said Ron Sevart, CEO of the Space Needle.

"This project celebrates not only soccer, but the global connections, community spirit and excitement that the tournament will bring to the city."

The World Cup begins on June 11 (6/11)in Mexico City, as Mexico hosts South Africa.

Egypt and Belgium will square off in the first game in Seattle on June 15. The U.S. Men's National Team will play Australia on June 19 at Lumen Field, although the venue will be known as "Seattle Stadium" during the World Cup.

There will be watch parties all over Seattle and the Puget Sound Region, including a massive 70-foot screen and a barge in Elliott Bay.

St. Petersburg has come under a major Ukrainian drone attack, according to the regional authorities, on the closing day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

More than 140 drones were downed in the early hours of Saturday morning, Leningrad Region Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko said on social media. No casualties or major infrastructure damage were immediately reported.

An air alert was declared overnight and residents were warned to stay indoors. Operations at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport were suspended, with dozens of flights delayed and aircraft diverted to other airports.

The strike follows another major drone raid on the region on June 3, the opening day of the forum, which attracted participants from more than 130 countries this year.

The attack comes two days after Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky published an open letter in which he said many Ukrainians would support having drones pay “a visit” to SPIEF.

In the letter, he also called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet with him to discuss a settlement of the conflict.

Responding on Friday, Putin said there is no sense in meeting at present, arguing that Zelensky’s actions have made meaningful negotiations impossible. He also criticized the tone of the message, describing it as inappropriate and insolent.

Putin reiterated that Russia is open to negotiations with Ukraine, but only if the root causes of the conflict are addressed. Russian officials have also questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy after his presidential term expired in May 2024 without a new election being held.

The elites over at Bloomberg just accidentally spilled the beans.

Americans have been staring down some pretty gnarly home prices lately.The left has been trying to tell us this is some kind of amazing “housing boom” happening. But we know better. These soaring housing and rental prices are a direct result of Biden’s mass invasion and the out-of-control work visasthat were being handed out like Halloween candy. The housing market just kept getting tighter, thanks to illegals and visa holders scooping up homes. As a result, prices skyrocketed.

But the global elites want us to accept all of this as the new normal… young families priced out of homes, first-time buyers crushed by bidding wars, and working Americans unable to find an affordable rental.

But we’re seeing it doesn’t have to be this way. Thanks to President Trump’s mass deportations and cracking down on H-1B visas, the housing market is finally showing signs of stabilizing. And the political elites over at Bloomberg aren’t too happy about it.

Articles like thisfail to explain how masses of Indian immigrants have pushed home prices out of reach for many native-born Americans in the first place, or how they’ve culturally transformed huge swaths of Texas.

Prices coming DOWN from less immigration is a very good thingthat should be celebrated. It also proves the Trump administration’s entire premise: Unchecked, runaway, invasion levels of immigration, legal and illegal, has fueled the affordability crisis.

Less immigration makes America more affordable.

Right outta the gate, Bloomberg reveals just how dependent parts of North Texas became on one particularly interesting source.

Bloomberg:

Foralmost a decade, South Asians have been the driving force behind this region’s building boom, one of the biggest in the US during the pandemic. They once accounted for 70% of sales at Schneider’s Tradition Homes. But in the past year they’ve dropped below 30%, leaving his family-owned company with a backlog of 125 luxury properties to sell.

So, for years, builders couldn’t keep up with demand.Now they’re sitting on more than a hundred unsold homes. Hmm. Yes. Something has clearly changed…

Bloomberg:

But the momentum is quickly reversing. Indian buyers are disappearing from the market as federal and state governments tighten H-1B restrictionsand many of the tech companies that employedthe new arrivals fire workers in favor of artificial intelligence. Prices in the Collin County suburbs north ofDallas in February dropped almost 9% from a year earlier, compared with a decline of 4% in the metro area as a whole, according to data from brokerage Redfin.

And there it is… falling prices are an “alarm bell” for Bloomberg.

Finally, Bloomberg starts putting two and two together and connects population growth with housing demand and home prices.

Bloomberg:

The shift has knocked down home prices, slowed population expansion and risks eroding the tax base needed to fund schools and roads planned during a five-year growth streak.

Haven’t Americans been told for years that immigration has no impact whatsoever on affordability?

Turns out that was a lie, too.

And the real “bean-spilling”moment is when this house expert chimes in.

Bloomberg:

“A surge of well-paid, highly skilled workers can push up home prices by boosting demand,” says Eli Beracha, a Florida International University professor who co-authored a 2025 paper on the subject published in the Journal of Real Estate Research.“These H-1B visas are the No. 1 converters of potential homebuyers to actual homebuyers. But when you get fewer people receiving H-1B visas, you get an immediate negative surprisebecause you have housing that has already been built for those people sitting on the market.”

And there it is. Beans all over the place.

But what’s interesting is that Bloomberg typed thousands of words trying to dance around the issue, only to arrive at the obvious conclusion: more buyers push prices up, fewer buyers push prices down.

It’s safe to say, if lowering immigration is helping bring housing prices back down to earth, then maybe the “affordability crisis” wasn’t some mysterious force of nature after all.

Maybe it was exactly what was suspected all along… too many people competing for too few homes.

Pentagon Sees Growing Espionage Threat From Israel

The Defense Department has increased the counterintelligence threat assessment to its highest level, and Israel is believed to have eavesdropped on American negotiations with Iran.

Recent U.S. intelligence reports have raised concerns about Israeli spy agencies eavesdropping on American negotiators working on a peace deal with Iran, amid rising concern over a more general counterintelligence threat by Israel.

Israel and the United States have long known, and tolerated, that each was spying on the other. But an intensified Israeli effort to learn about U.S. positions in talks with Iran has crossed a line, according to some American officials.

The reports include concerns that Israel has stepped up its efforts to eavesdrop on senior American officials, including Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s top negotiator, Elbridge A. Colby, the Pentagon’s top policy official, and one of his main deputies, Michael P. DiMino IV.

Another report, written by the Defense Intelligence Agency and other military intelligence offices and focused on earlier events going back several years, said that the counterintelligence threat level posed by Israel had been increased in recent weeks to the top level, from high to critical. The report, to which the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency contributed, outlines various efforts by Israel to spy on American military personnel and government officials.

The reports and the intensified concern about Israeli spying come at an especially sensitive time. Israel and the U.S. have been fighting the war against Iran together, and have never had such close military coordination as they do now, with Israeli military officers working side-by-side with their American counterparts at U.S. Central Command.

The U.S. military is sharing huge amounts of tactical and operational information with its Israeli counterparts. But senior American officials said that Israel is looking for insights into Mr. Trump’s strategy and shifting stances on the peace talks.

The new warning could potentially complicate efforts to further integrate military war planning between U.S. Central Command and Israel, especially if the Pentagon makes a decision to place new restrictions on information shared with Israeli officers.

There has already been tension between the two nations as Mr. Trump pursues a peace deal even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel seeks to further degrade Iran’s capabilities, weaken or topple its theocratic government and assault Tehran’s proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah.

The Defense Intelligence Agency report was drafted after incidents in which American defense personnel in Israel detected that software to tap their communications had been surreptitiously installed on their phones.

The Defense Department declined to comment.A White House official, speaking on the condition their name not be used, said the account was false.

A spokesperson for the Israeli embassy in Washington also disputed claims that Israel poses a counterintelligence threat,saying that Israel does not spy on American officials or entities.

The developments were described by several current and former U.S. officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence matters.…

They said that in some respects the counterintelligence warning is no surprise. Israel has long engaged in aggressive intelligence collection operations against both its enemies and its allies, as does the United States.

Still, Israel’s counterintelligence threat level is now higher than any other ally and higher than some adversarial countries. Of American allies, only South Korea, which is rated at high in certain situations, approaches the concern with Israel’s espionage efforts, the officials said.
