The Trump administration filed its response Thursday in the birthright citizenship case, which the Supreme Court is expected to hear next month.

The case centers on President Donald Trump's executive order directing federal agencies to interpret the 14th Amendment as excluding birthright citizenship to the children of illegal migrants and tourists.

Trump imposed the order last year as a means to deter pregnant tourists from having their babies in the United States and illegal migrants to stop using the method as a way to remain in the country.

The Trump administration argued in the brief response that the Constitution's Citizenship Clause was intended to grant citizenship to freed slaves and their children, and therefore have an allegiance to the United States.

"Children of temporarily present or illegal aliens do not qualify because their parents are not domiciled in, and thus do not owe the requisite allegiance to the United States," the brief reads, per journalist Benjamin Weingarten. "Temporarily present aliens are by definition not domiciled here, while illegal aliens lack the legal capacity to form such a domicile."

The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments in the case on April 1.

Sanders was apparently enjoying lunch last week at The Croissanterie in Little Rock alongside a group of fellow moms when she and her security were approached by staff and asked to leave "due to concerns that her presence was making employees feel threatened and uncomfortable due to her political views."

When she stood to comply with the request – she and her party reportedly had already eaten their meal, paid their bill, and tipped the staff at this point – an individual standing with the cafe staff shouted at the group and made an obscene hand gesture in their direction.

Gov. Sanders took to social media Thursday to tell her side of the story, saying the restaurant had not met the "warm hospitality" standard usually found in her state.

The Croissanterie has also issued a statement saying they were "surprised and uncertain how best to respond" when the governor and her mom friends entered the establishment. "By the time we entered the dining room, she was already seated and eating. At that point, we chose not to interrupt, expecting that the party would complete their meal and depart without issue," the statement continued.

"As business owners and members of this community, we recognized that any course of action carried consequences. Allowing her to stay risked being perceived as a lack of support for the community that makes up the majority of our team, as well as their families and friends. Conversely, asking her to leave could be viewed as denying service based on differing beliefs."

The establishment says they "ultimately made the decision" to "support our employees and guests who expressed they were uncomfortable," saying, "we do not recall any statements indicating that anyone felt threatened." This "support," apparently, refers to gay staff members.

Because actions have consequences, the unapologetic restaurant is now getting hammered on review sites, including from diners who were present for the distasteful interaction with Sanders' party.

Researchers with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) altered their own study on COVID-19 vaccine adverse events to downplay deaths linked to the shots, according to documents obtained by Children’s Health Defense (CHD).

CHD sued the CDC in 2023 to obtain the documents after the agency failed to respond to CHD’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The 100-page document tranche included an earlier draft of the CDC study that differed significantly from the version the authors published in June 2022 in The Lancet Infectious Diseases.

Karl Jablonowski, Ph.D., CHD senior research scientist, who analyzed the FOIA documents, said the CDC “severely edited” the study “to promote safety and to de-emphasize death.”

The first four words of the draft’s title were “Reactogenicity and Adverse Events.” However, the published version’s title began with “Safety of mRNA vaccines.”

Reactogenicity refers to the side effects or adverse events someone experiences after taking a vaccine or medication.

The study authors, members of the CDC’s COVID-19 Response Team, analyzed reports of adverse events following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination during the first 6 months of the vaccine rollout in the U.S.

The researchers pulled the reports from two federal vaccine safety monitoring systems — the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and V-safe.

Although there were 4,496 deaths reported to VAERS during that time frame, the study authors stripped details about the deaths from the article’s abstract.

The lead study author, Dr. Hannah Rosenblum, wrote in a comment on the draft, “Note all death results/interpretation has been removed from abstract.”

That’s a big deal, Jablonowski said — because the abstract, which appears at the top of a study and summarizes it, is typically read much more than the full body of an article.

The published version also omitted a figure that revealed key statistics about deaths reported following COVID-19 vaccination to VAERS. The figure depicted the percentage breakdown for the top 10 leading causes of death — including diseases of the heart, COVID-19 disease and “unknown/unclear” — as listed on death certificates or autopsy results.

🚨 BREAKING: Eric Coomer Deposition Unsealed - Contradictions on Election System Access Exposed

A Pennsylvania attorney is now urging President Trump to launch a federal investigation into alleged VPN access tied to the 2020 election.

Thomas Carroll sent a letter calling on the Pentagon, DHS, and ODNI to examine potential vendor and foreign interference involving Dominion Voting Systems-citingnewly unsealed testimony from a January 2026 deposition of former Dominion employee Eric Coomer.

Here’s what’s raising concerns:

* Coomer testified that development teams in Serbia, Canada, and the U.S. had access to code tied to election systems

*He also acknowledged using a VPN for remote desktop access to election management systems during the 2020 primaries, while claiming no data was exchanged

But the key issue - this appears to directly contradict his 2022 grand jury testimony, where he stated:

“I don’t have the access… Dominion just builds the hardware and provides the software.”

Now, in the 2026 deposition, Coomer admits:

“Yes, I have accessed servers… with approval.”

“That flatly contradicts what he said in 2022… Now he’s acknowledging they do have connection-they can go on these machines.”

Byrne also pointed to what he called a major admission:

“They have VPN access… that means they can get on and do anything… and there are ways to do it with little to no trace.”

With the transcript now part of the official court record (and already being cited in calls for a federal investigation) this could become a turning point for multiple legal challenges brought since the 2020 election involving voting machine companies.

That's when the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving north in its yearly journey through planet Earth's sky, marking the beginning of spring for our fair planet in the northern hemisphere and fall in the southern hemisphere. Then, day and night are nearly equal around the globe. In fact, both day and nighttime exposures from a spring equinox at the Observatorio del Teide in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, are used in this composited skyscape. Over 1,000 images were taken with a fisheye lens and merged in the ambitious equinox project. The apparent motion of the Sun setting along the celestial equator on the equinox date follows the bright linear, diagonal track from the sequence of daytime exposures taken over 6 hours. After sunset, nighttime exposures recorded startrails, with the celestial equator as a linear track and concentric arcs circling the north celestial pole near Polaris at upper right and the south celestial pole beyond the lower left edge (and below the Teide horizon). As the comet prepares for its perilous perihelion passage, we look at what to expect.

We're all wondering the same thing. How bright will Comet C/2026 A1 MAPS get?

Will it become a splendid sight like some of its sungrazing siblings of the past or will it fracture and fade?

With perihelion less than three weeks away, a definitive answer is lacking, but we can still speculate. First, let's examine its recent behavior.

Between March 6th and March 9th, C/2026 A1 quickly brightened by almost 1.5 magnitudes, from 12 to 10.5.

At the same time, its coma (the comet's gaseous envelope) expanded 50% from 6′ to 9′, and its core became more compact. Exciting news!

Then from March 11–17, in a seeming setback, the comet's brightness plateaued and its well-condensed coma shrank back to 6′.

Regardless, these swift changes made it possible to finally catch a brief glimpse of this fickle fuzzy through my telescope. Comet MAPS has been notoriously difficult to spot due to its very low altitude (less than 10°) in the western sky at the end of evening twilight.

I pinned it down in the trees just a few degrees above the horizon on March 13th. Through my 15-inch Dobsonian reflector, I saw a moderately condensed coma that spanned about 4′ with an overall magnitude of 10.0.

First finds are in: Meteorites discovered in Medina County

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The hunt for meteorites from Tuesday’s exploding asteroid over Cleveland is just beginning, but already Mike Hankey of the American Meteor Society is reporting that several have been found.

One in particular, discovered by fellow meteorite hunter Roberto Vargas of Connecticut, is not like the typical specimens. It has tiny spikes called “flow lines” protruding from one end that would have formed when the crust of the streaking space rock melted under astronomical heat.

“When you see these flow lines that’s just like a slam dunk,” said Hankey, who drove up from Baltimore, Maryland, Tuesday night to be on hand.

The most common meteorites are called chondrites and have iron, nickel and spherical grains of other metals, Hankey said, but those that are being found south of Cleveland are achondrites, which means they lack those same minerals.

Hankey said he expects a flood of meteorite hunters to converge on the area this weekend. The base of activity appears to be around Sharon Center.

NASA mapped the likely “strewn field” — where fragments may have landed — from roughly northern Medina County stretching south-southwest toward Rittman and parts of Wayne County.

“The game is to just walk around a lot in places you can see the ground,” Hankey said, adding that a metal detector may not be of much help because of the contents of the meteorites.

He recommends looking for black objects and then filtering out those that are bits of asphalt or perhaps slag, a steel-making residue that gets mixed in with construction material. A black rock with bubbles or holes is likely slag.

He said Thursday afternoon that there are several out-of-town hunters in the area from places such as Connecticut, Arizona, Michigan and Washington.

“I heard a guy from Germany came in,” he said.

The government has approved the arms sales to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing U.S. officials familiar with the decision.

That included more than $16 billion for air-defense systems, munitions and radar equipment for the three Mideast countries, announced on Thursday, plus an additional $7 billion in weapons to the UAE, according to the report. The latter was approved through channels that do not require public disclosure under U.S. arms export rules, according to the Journal.

The provisional arms sale, aimed at bolstering the Gulf nations’ military capabilities, came as Iran has broadened attacks to several energy infrastructure sites across the region in response to Israeli strikes on its gas facilities this week.

The proposed sale would improve the countries’ capability to “meet current and future threats” and further advance their interoperability with U.S. Joint Forces and other regional forces, the State Department said in the notices.

The administration also expanded certain previously agreed agreements to include the sale of Patriot PAC-3 missiles worth about $5.6 billion and CH-47 Chinook helicopters valued at roughly $1.32 billion, according to the Journal. The U.S. also approved $37 million in Predator XP drone sales and sustainment programs for light aircraft.

For some of the deals, the American government invoked the emergency clause of U.S. arms control law, amechanism that allows the executive branch to proceed without the standard 30-day congressional review period, according to the report.

Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett claims that NASA is “lying” about what it knows about UFOs. He also claims the American space agency is hiding classified files on the subject.

Burchett, a member of the House Oversight Committee that is investigating UFO reports, claims to believe this because he has attended meetings with NASA to discuss alien aircraft.

“The lying that goes on in these departments,” he said during an appearance on One America News this week. “NASA saying, ‘We don’t have any of this’ or ‘We haven’t studied any of this.’

“I have been in meetings with them, or they’ve told me they studied it and that they have stuff that is classified that they can’t share with the public.”

When asked why there aren’t more whistleblowers willing to come forward with what they know about UFOs, Tim Burchett responded that he thinks it is because “they’re afraid someone will disappear them.”

“I think being murdered is what they’re afraid of,” he said. “I think some of them truly are because of things they’ve seen.”

When contacted by DailyMail.com to comment on Burchett’s statements about NASA hiding information about UFOs, the space agency replied with a link to an X post from its press secretary, Bethany Stevens.

It reads: “We continue to make all NASA data publicly available and welcome public participation using our data.

As the NASA Administrator has said, there are certainly things he’s come across in the job that he can’t explain… but they relate more to unnecessarily costly programs than they do to extraterrestrial life.”

Previous claims and current coincidences

Congressman Burchett’s claims come in the same week that the United States government mysteriously purchased two new domain names: alien.gov and aliens.gov.

His statements also come shortly after Donald Trump announced plans to declassify federal information on unexplained aerial phenomena (UAPs, or what the government now calls UFOs) and alien life.

They also coincide with the mysterious disappearance of retired U.S. Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland.

Burchett is no stranger to making outlandish UFO claims, however. In 2023, he accused the government of not being honest with the public about UFOs and aliens.

He has also claimed the United States government has alien tech in its possession that it is currently reverse-engineering which could “turn us into a charcoal briquette.”

In 2025, the Congressman claimed that the United States government has knowledge about underwater alien bases. As a part of his claims, Burchett said there are “entities” located at five or six deep-water sites on Earth.

New York City's first lady, Rama Duwaji, glorified terrorist violence in a wide range of posts made on social media when she was a teenager and in her early 20s,celebrating members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror group and the First Intifada,a Washington Free Beaconreview of her old X and Tumblr accounts found.

Duwaji, 28, posted a photo to her Tumblr account in September 2017, when she would have been 20 years old, of the infamous Palestinian terrorist Leila Khaled. Under the username "diimashq," she echoed one of Khaled's most famous statements.

"If it does good for my cause, I'll be happy to accept death," the caption read.

Khaled, a longtime member of the PFLP, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, participated in plane hijackings in 1969 and 1970. Between the two hijackings, she underwent several cosmetic surgery procedures to disguise her identity.In the 1970 hijacking, Khaled threatened to detonate a grenade unless the pilots let her into the cockpit. Today, she is revered by terrorists and their allies as the first woman to hijack a plane.

Duwaji was in her late teens and early 20s when she made the majority of the posts, and the accounts with which she made them appear to be inactive now.They came at a time when she was living in the Middle East. While she is of Syrian descent, Duwaji spent her early childhood in New Jersey. Her family moved to Dubai in 2006, and Duwaji eventually transferred from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar to the school's Richmond campus.

In the posts, Duwaji celebrated other members of the terrorist PFLP as well. In March 2015, when she was 17, New York City's future first lady reposted a tweet on International Women's Day praising the terrorist Shadia Abu Ghazaleh. It shows a photo of Ghazaleh, a leading PFLP figure who participated in the bombing of an Israeli bus and led several other terrorist attacks, posing with a rifle. She was killed in 1968 when a bomb she was building in her home—which she intended to use to blow up a building in Tel Aviv—exploded accidentally.

The late terrorist is considered a "martyr" in Palestinian society and is the namesake of a school in Gaza.

Duwaji posted another photo on her Tumblr account in December 2017, this one showing a keffiyeh-clad Palestinian sewing a flag.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States said on Thursday that Israeli forces had carried out strikes on Iranian navy vessels in the Caspian Sea and targeted commanders and militants linked to Iran’s operations in Lebanon.

Crew Enjoys Light-Duty Day, Debriefs Spacewalk

Four International Space Station residents had a light-duty day Thursday as they enjoyed some time off and worked on close out procedures following the conclusion of yesterday’s spacewalk.

The three other Expedition 74 crew members spent the day inspecting various modules of the orbital complex, cleaning, and stowing cargo.

NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Chris Williams concluded a seven-hour, two-minute spacewalk yesterday at 3:54 p.m. EDT, completing their primary objectives which included preparing the 2A power channel for the future installation of roll-out solar arrays.

It was Meir’s fourth spacewalk and Williams’ first.

The spacewalkers, along with NASA astronaut Jack Hathaway and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Sophie Adenot, enjoyed the morning off.

Hathaway and Adenot, who monitored yesterday’s spacewalk and assisted Meir and Williams with donning and doffing their suits, joined the duo in the afternoon for a post-spacewalk debrief with ground teams.

Later in the evening, Williams completed some spacesuit work, performed a water recharge and reset a torque wrench.

Meir also worked in some time for health research, collecting biological samples for analysis, routine work that helps scientists take a closer look at the effects of spaceflight on the human body.

In the Roscosmos segment, the three cosmonauts spent the day exercising, inspecting modules, cleaning, and stowing cargo.

In the morning, flight engineer Andrey Fedyaev exercised on the station’s treadmill before moving throughout the station to collect radiation sensors. Once gathered, he logged radiation measurements for analysis.

In the Zarya module, flight engineer Sergei Mikaev inspected and photographed lighting units for documentation, then vacuumed the space.

He later moved into the Nauka module to record ventilation fan operations for possible repairs in the future.

Meanwhile, Commander Sergey Kud-Sverchkov performed various inspections in the Zvezda Service Module before teaming up with Mikaev to gather and load cargo items into the Progress 93 cargo spacecraft for future disposal.

Artemis II Moon Rocket Heads Back to Launch Pad

NASA’s Artemis II SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion spacecraft slated to send four astronauts around the Moon began rolling to Launch Pad 39B at 12:20 a.m. EDT on Friday, March 20.

Rollout operations at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida were delayed earlier in the day due to high winds in the area.

The trek to the pad is expected to take up to 12 hours, as NASA’s crawler-transporter 2 carefully carries the rocket on top of the mobile launcher approximately 4 miles along the crawlerway. A live feed of the rollout is available on NASA’s YouTube channel.

Following a successful wet dress rehearsal on Feb. 21, teams identified an issue preventing helium  from flowing to the rocket’s upper stage, prompting a return to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) where the issue was repaired.

While the rocket and spacecraft were in the VAB, engineers also refreshed and retested several systems on the rocket.

Engineers activated a new set of flight termination system batteries, replaced other batteries on the upper stage, core stage, and solid rocket boosters, and charged Orion’s launch abort system batteries.

Engineers also replaced a seal on the core stage liquid oxygen feed line and reassembled and retested the oxygen tail service mast umbilical plate to confirm a tight seal interface.

Artemis II will send NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, on an approximately 10-day mission around the Moon and back, marking the first crewed flight of the Artemis program.

Restless Kīlauea Launches Lava and Ash

Kīlauea has entered its second year of episodic activity after reawakening in December 2024. Since then, the Hawaiian volcano has gone through dozens of bouts of lava fountaining, each lasting several hours to several days.

Activity ramped up once again on March 10, 2026, for episode 43 of the eruption. From approximately 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time that day, lava spewed from two active vents on the southwest side of Halema‘uma‘u Crater, adding to the ever-thickening layer of fresh basaltic rock in the summit caldera.

The flareup also featured the highest lava fountains of the current eruption, estimated at 1,770 feet (540 meters). Meanwhile, ash and other airborne debris fell on communities up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) away.

About 4 hours after fountaining subsided, the Landsat 9 satellite passed over the Island of Hawai‘i.

This image shows shortwave infrared and near-infrared data, acquired with the satellite’s OLI (Operational Land Imager) at 10:20 p.m. local time on March 10 (08:20 Universal Time on March 11), revealing heat emanating from the still-sizzling lava.

That information is layered over a composite of daytime Landsat images and a digital elevation model.

An estimated 16 million cubic yards (12 million cubic meters) of lava erupted during the episode, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO), bringing the total volume erupted across all episodes since December 2024 to close to 325 million cubic yards (250 million cubic meters).

Over the same period, the depth of lava in the crater has increased by about 300 feet (90 meters).

While lava remained confined to the summit area, other erupted material traveled much farther. Images captured by satellites orbiting over the area during the daytime showed a volcanic plume drifting northeast from the vents.

Volcanic gas and ash reached a maximum height in the atmosphere of more than 30,000 feet (9,100 meters) above sea level, the HVO said.

The aviation color code was elevated to red during the eruption, and several flights at the airport in Hilo were canceled, according to news reports.

Volcanic fragments up to several inches in diameter fell along the north rim of the caldera and in adjacent communities.

The hazards and accumulation of debris caused the temporary closure of Highway 11 and the evacuation of visitors from parts of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.

Smaller particles were carried farther: people reported ash and Pele’s hair falling tens of miles to the north and east of Kīlauea, including in Hilo, Keaʻau, and other communities on the coast.

Volcanic debris is an eye, skin, and respiratory irritant, the HVO warned, and it may affect water quality for those using rainwater catchment systems.

While Searching The Bermuda Triangle For Lost Aircraft, History Channel Made A Tragic Discovery – And Contacted NASA To Confirm

While exploring its natural habitat – the Bermuda Triangle – in 2022, History Channel stumbled across an intriguing piece of material, prompting them to contact NASA for further analysis.

Intrigue surrounding the Bermuda Triangle, a loosely-defined area of ocean between Florida, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda, can largely be traced back to an incident in 1945, known as "Flight 19".

On 5 December 1945, five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers carrying 14 men were participating in a mock bombing run in the Bahamas, a training exercise for student pilots.

In the second leg of the exercise, the team ran into some unusual trouble. In intercepted radio messages, one student pilot could be heard asking a crew member for a compass reading.

"I don’t know where we are," they could be heard replying. "We must have gotten lost after that last turn."

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Charles Carroll Taylor, an experienced pilot leading the flight, was later heard confirming similar issues to another pilot.

"Both my compasses are out, and I am trying to find Fort Lauderdale, Florida," he said in the recordings. "I am over land, but it’s broken. I am sure I’m in the Keys, but I don’t know how far down and I don’t know how to get to Fort Lauderdale."

That pilot urged Taylor to use the Sun, putting it on the port side, and the coastline to navigate their way back to Fort Lauderdale, but for reasons unknown, the advice was ignored.

"If we would just fly west we would get home," one voice was heard saying. "Dammit, if we would just fly west we would get home."

In one communication, Taylor can be heard saying that when the first plane's fuel goes below 10 gallons, then all planes would attempt a water landing.

But the planes didn't return, and they likely went down in the ocean, never to be seen again. Since then, other incidents of lost planes and ships have been attributed to the "Bermuda Triangle", and it has became a popular mystery.

These days, there is waning interest in the Bermuda Triangle, with studies finding there is no real mystery to solve here, as the area does not see a statistically significant number of disappearances compared with other areas of the ocean.

But that won't deter an organization as dedicated as History Channel – which these days is known for some of its more sensationalist programming – from investigating, and in this case we're glad they did.

In 2022, the channel was filming the program The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters in Florida, searching for World War II aircraft on the ocean floor, when they spotted a large piece of wreckage partially obscured by sand off the coast.

Looking at the object, they found it was clearly of human construction, and covered in 20 centimeter (8 inch) square tiles. As well as that, divers could tell that it did not come from an aircraft.

Knowing they were close to Florida, which NASA essentially uses as a big launch pad, History Channel contacted the US space agency for its opinion.

Soon, the agency confirmed that the debris was an artifact from the space shuttle Challenger, which tragically broke apart 73 seconds into its flight in 1986, killing all seven astronauts on board.

The disaster, investigations determined, was the result of two failed O-rings sealing a joint on one of the rocket boosters.

“While it has been nearly 37 years since seven daring and brave explorers lost their lives aboard Challenger, this tragedy will forever be seared in the collective memory of our country.

For millions around the globe, myself included, Jan. 28, 1986, still feels like yesterday,” then NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in a statement.

“This discovery gives us an opportunity to pause once again, to uplift the legacies of the seven pioneers we lost, and to reflect on how this tragedy changed us.

At NASA, the core value of safety is – and must forever remain – our top priority, especially as our missions explore more of the cosmos than ever before.”

A salvage operation shortly after the disaster, the largest ever attempted, recovered 167 pieces of the shuttle, weighing a total of 118 tons, but other pieces such as the one discovered above are likely still laying on the ocean floor.

Astronomers are on the cusp of a groundbreaking discovery that could reshape our understanding of cosmic bodies beyond our solar system.

A new search for “exotrojans”, objects that could orbit at the Lagrange points of distant pulsar systems, has captivated the scientific community, though conclusive evidence remains elusive.

The Search for Exotrojans: A New Frontier in Space Exploration

Exotrojans are hypothetical celestial objects that orbit at the Lagrange points of distant stars. The concept of a Trojan is familiar to astronomers, as it refers to asteroids that share an orbit with a planet.

In our own solar system, Jupiter is home to thousands of Trojans, asteroids that cluster at points 60 degrees ahead of and behind the planet in its orbit. Scientists have long speculated that similar objects might exist around stars outside our solar system.

These objects, dubbed “exotrojans,” could offer insight into the gravitational dynamics of distant star systems, much like their counterparts do in our own backyard.

The hunt for exotrojans has been challenging, especially in the case of pulsar systems. Unlike typical stars, pulsars are rapidly rotating neutron stars that emit intense radiation and magnetic fields.

These extreme conditions make it harder to detect smaller objects that might be orbiting at the Lagrange points. Despite the obstacles, astronomers are not deterred and are turning to innovative techniques to detect these elusive objects.

Black Widow Pulsars: Extreme Environments for Exotrojans

The recent study, led by Jackson Taylor of West Virginia University and his team, focuses on pulsar binary systems, specifically, black widow pulsars.

These systems consist of a rapidly spinning pulsar paired with a much smaller companion star, which is often only 1% the size of the Sun.

The pulsar’s immense gravitational pull slowly strips away material from its companion, eventually destroying it over time.

This process, which leads to the “black widow” nickname, presents a unique environment to search for exotic objects such as Trojans.

While the black widow pulsars may seem inhospitable to planets, the reality is quite the opposite.

The low mass of the companion star actually makes it more likely that a stable orbit could exist for smaller objects, such as an exotrojan. This could provide the perfect opportunity to study co-orbital dynamics in these extreme environments.

However, detecting such objects is far from easy. Traditional methods of exoplanet detection, such as tracking the gravitational pull a planet exerts on its star, are rendered ineffective by the extreme conditions of pulsar systems.

New Techniques for Detecting Exotrojans

To overcome these challenges, the team employed two innovative detection techniques. The first method involved comparing optical light curves with radio data from the pulsar system PSR J1641+8049.

Optical light peaks occur when the heated side of the companion star faces Earth, while radio pulses are emitted by the pulsar and track the orbital center of mass of the entire system.

If there were a mismatch between the two, it would suggest that a third body, such as a Trojan, was influencing the system’s gravitational dynamics.

The second technique relied on a dataset from the NANOGrav project, which tracks radio pulse timing over a period of 15 years.

Known as Time of Arrival (TOA) measurements, these data points can reveal subtle oscillations in the system’s center of mass, which could indicate the presence of a third object.

If an exotrojan were orbiting in a stable Lagrange point, it would cause the system to wobble, resulting in detectable changes in the radio pulse timing.

No Conclusive Evidence Yet, But Hope Remains

Despite the promising methodologies, the researchers did not find conclusive evidence of any exotrojans in their sample.

Two systems showed what the authors believe were false positive signals, likely caused by noise or limitations in the data.

In the remaining seven systems, no objects larger than the size of Earth were detected, although one system did show hints of an object up to eight times the mass of Jupiter.

While these findings may seem disappointing, they do not signal the end of the search. The researchers emphasize that the search for exotrojans is still in its early stages.

Given the complexity of pulsar systems and the limitations of current technology, it’s possible that smaller, more elusive objects are present but remain undetected.

With further data from upcoming projects like NANOGrav’s 20-year dataset, astronomers remain hopeful that the elusive exotrojan will soon be found.

Earthshine will reveal the moon's hidden face tonight— here's how to see it

Look to the west after sunset this week for a spectacular sight, as the razor-thin waxing crescent moon hangs low above the horizon with earthshine bathing its unlit surface in a soft, otherworldly glow.

This month's new moon phase occurred at 9:23 p.m. EDT on March 18 (0123 GMT on March 19) as the moon lay between the sun and Earth in the daytime sky.

Earthshine — also known as the Da Vinci glow, or romantically as the old moon in the new moon's arms — occurs on the nights directly preceding and following the new moon phase, when sunlight bounces off Earth's surface to strike the shadowed expanse of the lunar disk.

Your first chance to spot earthshine infusing the lunar surface will come immediately after sunset on March 19, though you'll need to be lucky and stake out a viewing spot with a clear view of the western horizon to stand a fighting chance.

The whisper-thin waxing crescent moon will be visible to the lower right of Venus 10 degrees above the horizon — approximately the width of your clenched fist held at arm's length.

You'll have a much better chance of spotting the phenomenon at sunset on the following night (March 20), by which time the lunar disk will have leapt above Venus, appearing higher in the southern sky.

Look out for the moon's upturned crescent, now just 2%-lit, above the evening star of Venus, as light reflected from Earth's clouds picks out the faint shapes of lunar seas, or mare, scarring the moon's ancient surface where lava once filled vast networks of impact basins.

Cyprus becomes associate member of European Space Agency

Cyprus has become an associate member of the European Space Agency, the agency announced on Thursday.

It said that a seven-year agreement for the island’s associate membership entered force on Tuesday, after its director-general Joseph Aschbacher notified Research Deputy Minister Nicodemos Damianou.

“The transition of the Republic of Cyprus from ‘cooperating state’ to ‘associate member’ builds on the positive assessments carried out by both the European Space Agency and the government of Cyprus regarding the country’s maturing space ecosystem, its growing capabilities, and its potential to contribute to European space programmes,” it said.

It added that associate membership will allow Cyprus to participate in optional programmes undertaken by the agency.

The joining of the European Space Agency comes a year and a half after the island signed the Artemis Accords, a set of principles and agreements established to govern international cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space.

“As we move deeper into the space age, it is imperative that we cultivate knowledge, share collaboration across disciplines and borders,” Damianou said at the time, adding that “space should be at the core of our efforts, diversify our economies, and create value for future generations.”

Since the Chicago-area district is drawn to heavily favor Democrats, Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss is all but destined to win the U.S. House seat in the November midterm elections.

Kat Abughazaleh, a 26-year-old political newcomer whose scrappy House campaign slogans “What if we didn’t suck?” and “I’m done waiting for change” reflected a push for new party leadership, has lost her competitive Democratic primary in Illinois’ 9th Congressional District to Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss.

Since the Chicago-area district is drawn to heavily favor Democrats, Biss is all but destined to win the U.S. House seat in the November midterm elections.

Biss was the front-runner for much of the race, with Abughazaleh and state Sen. Laura Fine rounding out the top tier. In the final days of campaigning, Abughazaleh started to close the gap and Fine dropped deeper into third place. Just a week out from the primary, as much as 15 percent of the district’s Democratic electorate remained undecided.

Biss won roughly 30 percent of the district’s Democratic primary electorate, earning about 4,000 more votes, while Fine came in at a distant third, according to Decision Desk HQ. The results tracked polls in the closing weeks of the race.

Speaking to a room full of supporters, Abughazaleh said, “The work isn’t over. There are progressives all over the country who are taking a chance just like we did and we have to help them win, no matter how hard it is. We have to send a message to this administration and anyone who enables them, and I’m talking to them right now: You and your jobs are not safe. This is the start and not the end. We are not tolerating the status quo. You cannot kidnap and kill us and our neighbors. You cannot start illegal wars. You cannot trample on our rights and see our lives as a means for profit. We will continue to come back and every single loss like this one just makes the path easier for the next person who takes the same chance.”

Biss is set to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who has held the House seat since 1999.Her longtime tenure inspired Abughazaleh to enter the race on her 26th birthday last year. At the time, Schakowsky had not yet announced her plans to retire. Once she did, Biss, Fine and others entered the race and the field swelled to more than a dozen candidates.

“We’re going to stand up, we’re going to fight,” Biss said in his victory speech. “We will not back down, and we will fight for the progressive values that are the values, not only of this district, but of this whole country.”

Abughazaleh said she decided to challenge Schakowsky because the 2024 presidential election underscored the need for proactive generational change.Abughazaleh was referring to Vice President Kamala Harris replacing President Joe Biden on the ticket, but only at the eleventh hour. The Democrats went on to raise and spend $1.5 billion during a whirlwind campaign, but Harris still ultimately lost to now-President Donald Trump.

“When Biden was in power, it was like, ‘Well, we have to keep up a strong front, so you can’t challenge the party.’ And now that Trump’s there, it’s like, ‘Well, we have to show we’re united, so we can’t challenge the party.’ If now is not the time to challenge who is in power, when will there ever be a time?” Abughazaleh told The 19th in an interview last year.

Biss has been the mayor of Evanston, a city of about 75,000 just north of Chicago, since May 2021. Before that, he was a state senator from 2013 to 2019 and a state representative from 2011 to 2013. In 2018, Biss competed in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, finishing behind current Gov. JB Pritzker.

Biss will likely be a reliably progressive-leaning vote in Congress. He wrote in an editorial board interview with the Evanston Round Table that “ICE, as it exists today, must be abolished. No one should be allowed to commit murder with impunity.” He is the grandson of Holocaust survivors and supports putting conditions on U.S. military aid to Israel over its war in Gaza.He has said he will work to reverse Trump and congressional Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid in the “big, beautiful” tax bill they passed last year.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — A Little Rock restaurant has responded after the office of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she was told to leave from the establishment.

Sanders said on Friday, March 13, that she joined a group for lunch with two people at The Croissanterie and was accompanied by her State Police Executive Protection Detail, according to a statement provided by the governor's office.

The Croissanterie explained in a written statement that when they were made aware of the governor's presence inside the restaurant, they were "surprised and uncertain how best to respond."They said that since she and her staff were already seated and eating, they chose not to interrupt.

Sanders said that after being seated in the restaurant for over an hour and fifteen minutes and food already paid for, the owner of The Croissanterie approached a member of the protective detail and allegedly asked her to leave because her presence was supposedly “making employees threatened and uncomfortable because of her political views."

The Croissanterie denies any statements "indicating that anyone felt threatened."

Croissanterie staff say that as the presence of the governor and her security detail became more widely noticed by guests and employees alike, questions were raised about them remaining in the building. "As business owners and members of this community, we recognized that any course of action carried consequences."(bizarro especially when there had to be Republican voters there. In the restaurant's statement, they saidthat allowing her to stay "risked being perceived as a lack of support for the community that makes up" their staff, but also asking Sanders and her team to leave "could be viewed as denying service based on differing beliefs."

Canadian Space Agency cancels lunar rover mission

As part of its 2026-2027 departmental plan, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has cancelled its ambitious lunar rover mission.

The lunar rover was announced in 2022. It would have been Canada’s first rover, built by Canadensys, and hitching a ride to the moon on a commercial launch vehicle built by a private U.S. company, Firefly Aerospace.

News of the cancellation was first reported by space industry website SpaceQ.

The principal investigator of the mission, Gordon Osinski, a planetary geologist from Western University, said that he found out about a month ago, and that he was “devastated” by the news.

“It was going to be one of the most exciting missions in Canadian space history,” he said. “We were going to send Canada's first-ever rover mission to the surface of another planetary body, which is something that we've been trying to do for decades.”

The rover would have landed in the south polar region of the moon, a region that is of extreme interest and importance to space exploration due to the presence of water. It is also the location of the future Artemis IV mission that is set to return humans to the lunar surface.

Artemis II, a mission in which four astronauts will fly around the moon — including Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen — is set to launch in early April.

“After our little rover drove off the Firefly Lander, we would be running our own mission, which would [have been] the first time in history,” Osinski said.

“Usually it's the other way around: We're contributing to a small piece of another mission such as the Mars rovers and things. So yeah, that was going to be very special.”

CSA responds

“The Canadian Space Agency remains committed to deep-space and lunar surface exploration and will ensure that Canada maximizes the value of the investments in the project thus far,” the CSA told CBC News in an email.

The lunar rover was part of the CSA's Lunar Exploration Accelerator Program (LEAP), which awards businesses with contracts for lunar missions.

"The lunar rover mission led to strong collaborations between academia and industry partners.

The science team, composed of 50 scientists from Canada and abroad, will be able to continue their research for the length of their grants, allowing them to gain hands-on experience to help guide science decisions for future missions," the CSA said in the email.

"The knowledge and capabilities in robotics mobility attained so far could be used on other missions, such as the lunar utility rover, and serve commercialization purposes."

CBC News reached out to Canadensys, but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.

Osinski said he hopes that the team's work will live on in some way.

"We really built an entire science team around it. And I'm still very proud of that," he said. "We've accomplished a lot."

The U.S. Space Force is executing a change in launch service provider from ULA to SpaceX for the Global Positioning System (GPS) National Security Space Launch (NSSL) mission known as GPS III-8.

The change ensures continued delivery of this critical system through responsive and reliable launch capabilities while the investigation into Vulcan anomaly continues.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – The U.S. Space Force (USSF) Space Access portfolio and Space Systems Command System Delta 80 (SYD 80) are executing a change in launch service provider from United Launch Alliance (ULA) to SpaceX for the upcoming Global Positioning System (GPS) National Security Space Launch (NSSL) mission, GPS III-8.

GPS III-8 will now launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket which is set to deliver the last GPS III Space Vehicle (SV-10) to orbit no earlier than late April from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.

“The Space Access and NSSL teams’ primary mission is to deliver critical capabilities for the warfighter—when and where it’s needed,” said USSF Col. Ryan Hiserote, SYD 80 commander and NSSL system program director.

“With this change, we are answering the call for rapid delivery of advanced GPS capability while the Vulcan anomaly investigation continues.

We are once again demonstrating our team’s flexibility and are fully committed to leverage all options available for responsive and reliable launch for the Nation.”

With SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket now launching the GPS III-8 mission, ULA’s Vulcan rocket will now launch the USSF-70 mission, slated to launch no earlier than the summer of 2028.

SpaceX Starlink Mission

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 is targeting the launch of 25 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

A federal judge deemed 'too radical' by GOP lawmakers during his confirmation hearings said on Thursday that he will grant a motion by blue states to vacate (reverse) a declaration by HHS Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blocking breast removal and other procedures for youths with gender dysphoria.

Oregon US District Judge Mustafa Kasubhai, who was appointed by Biden in late 2024 and only confirmed after Senate Democrats invoked cloture on his nomination by a 51-43 vote, said during a hearing that he would soon issue a formal written opinion and an order denying the government's bid to dismiss the states' case, and granting the states' motion for summary judgement, according to court records.

Kennedy issued a declaration in late 2025 that "ex-rejecting procedures for children and adolescents are neither safe nor effective as a treatment modality for gender dysphoria, gender incongruence, or other related disorders in minors, and therefore, fail to meet professional recognized standards of health care."

This was based on a report by the Department of Health and Human Services which looked at procedures and treatments available for gender dysphoria, and concluded that many of them risk infertility. The Trump administration said that health care providers who perform breast removal and other procedures would be out of compliance with updated standards, while officials also moved to bar hospitals that participate in Medicare or Medicaid from performing the procedures on children.

New York and 18 other states immediately sued, claiming that the new rules were illegal, and "amounts to an end-run around the free choice of provider statute because it effectively bars Medicaid beneficiaries from choosing providers that are otherwise qualified, simply because they furnish gender-affirming care to children or adolescents," the states said in their motion for summary judgement.

New York Attorney General Letitia James, one of the plaintiffs, said the forthcoming ruling siding with the states showed Kennedy “cannot unilaterally change medical standards by posting a document online, and no one should lose access to medically necessary health care because their federal government tried to interfere in decisions that belong in doctors’ offices.” -Epoch Times

At least 17 hospitals or health centers have been referred for possible punitive action for violating the HHS declaration, they said.

Government lawyers argued in a brief that the declaration reflected Kennedy's "non-binding policy position on the safety and efficacy of certain pediatric and adolescent treatment modalities," and that the HHS report was one of many pieces of information officials considered in their decision.

The admin also asked the court to dismiss the case over a lack of jurisdiction.

A Chicago-based “interfaith” group is pushing churches toread the Qur’an from the pulpit — and to confront what it calls “Islamophobia in the Church.”

Challenging Islamophobia Together Chicagoland(CITC) has quietly rolled outinitiatives like its “Reading the Qur’an in Churches” campaign, while promoting a broader effort toreshape Christian teachingfrom within. Thepremise is not subtle:

Christianity itself must be re-examined — its theology reconsidered, itstraditions reframed, its posture toward Islam fundamentally reoriented.

But this is not just a local outreach effort.

Behind CITC sits a national advocacy network — the Interfaith Alliance — backed by millions in foundation funding. Public records show that network has drawn support frommajor institutional playersincluding the Henry Luce Foundation, which awarded a $300,000 grant in 2025, as well as the Rockefeller Family Fund , the Collaborative for Gender and Reproductive Equity, and theCommunities Foundation of Texas. In 2023 alone, theInterfaith Alliance Foundation reported roughly $2.87 millionin total revenue, including about $1.4 million in contributions and grants. The Muslims also buy homes in towns and cities there. Some of the neighborhoods are run by Muslim led HOAs)

What looks like a small, regional interfaith initiative is,in reality, part of a much larger ecosystem, one financed by progressive-aligned philanthropy anddeeply embedded in the political and cultural battles over religion in America.

CITC itself is led by Anna Piela and Michael Woolf, both clergy figures operating within interfaith activism networks. But the structure of the organization makes clearthis is not simply Christian outreach.CITC operates with a Muslim Leadership Councilthat helps guide its priorities, programming, and messaging. As the group explains:

“Having the Muslim Leadership Council helps ensure that our efforts andinitiatives are informed by the lived experiences, concerns, and insights of those directly affected by Islamophobia.

Leaders in Muslim communities can provide valuable perspectives on issues they face, guide the organization’s priorities, and help shape programs and policies to be more effective and culturally relevant.”

That model places Muslim leadership not at the margins, butat the center of how Christian-facing initiatives are developed and executed.

The implications of that structure become clearer when looking at CITC’s programming. One of its most prominent efforts — the “Reading the Qur’an in Churches” campaign — encourages congregations to engage directly with Islamic scripture inside church settings. This is not framed as academic comparison or optional dialogue. It is positioned as a corrective to Christianity itself.

That same visionis formalized in a new book by the group’s leaders,Confronting Islamophobia in the Church: Liturgical Tools for Justice. The summary leaves little ambiguity about the scope of the project:

That broader framework has also been articulated publicly by the group’s leaders. In a lecture at Georgetown University discussing the book, they outlined how their approach extends beyond theology into social and political questions. As they put it, “Islamophobia intersects with our immigration crisis and also with anti-blackness,” while also arguing that “soft Islamophobia is saying women have a subservient role.” Their framework draws on the concept of “Holy Envy” and is explicitly positioned as a “theological counterweight to white Christian nationalism.”

In that same discussion, they emphasizedthe role churches can play in reshaping perceptions of Islam, arguing that “Churches are very powerful in being able tosituate Islam not as an other not as a security threat but as a really interestingtheological tradition you ought to know about,” and urgingChristians to “be as generous a reader of the Quran as you are of the Bible.”

That agenda mirrors the priorities of the Interfaith Alliance, which has madeopposition to “Christian nationalism” a central pillar of its work. Through initiativeslike “Democracy Not Theocracy,” the organization frames its mission as combating what it describes as An“authoritarian theocracy” and theinfluence of conservative Christianity in public life. It’s also been involved with high-profile political battles, including opposition to Supreme Court nominees such as Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh, alongside support for Ketanji Brown Jackson.

The through-line is difficult to ignore. Foundation money tied to reproductive policy, “democracy” initiatives, and progressive social causes flows into Interfaith Alliance, which in turn supports affiliates like CITC — groups that are actively working inside churches to redefine how faith is taught and practiced.

What presents itself as alocal campaign against Islamophobiais, in reality, part of a broader effort — one that sits at the intersection of philanthropy, politics, and theology.

And the deeper question is not whether interfaith dialogue is valuable,or whether religious prejudice exists.

It is why a network funded by some of the most prominent institutions in progressive philanthropy is investing in efforts thatgo beyond dialogue— into the terrain of liturgy, doctrine, and theinternal life of the American church.

Because at that point, this is no longer just about tolerance.

It is about transformation.
