Jury finds Elon Musk guilty of misleading investors

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been found guilty in California of misleading investors during his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in 2022.
The class-action lawsuit, which had been filed shortly before Musk took control of the social media platform that he subsequently re-branded as X, focused on two tweets and comments made by the tech billionaire during a podcast in May 2022. Following those statements, including a post claiming that the Twitter deal was “temporarily on hold,” the company’s shares plunged by almost 10% in a single session.
The nine-man jury in San Francisco delivered its verdict on Friday, stating that the tech billionaire did mislead the shareholders, who sold Twitter shares at a lower price as a result of his announcements, with the tweets.
However,it also found that there was nothing wrong with what Musk said on the podcast and that he did not intentionally “scheme” to mislead the investors.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO could end up paying up to $2.6 billion in damages, according to the lawyers of the Twitter shareholders. Musk’s fortune is estimated at some $814 billion.
The verdict is “an important victory, not just for investors of Twitter, but for the public markets” that “sends a strong message that just because you’re a rich and powerful person, you still have to obey the law,” Mark Molumphy, an attorney for the plaintiffs, insisted.
Musk’s lawyers said that they will appeal the ruling. “We view today’s verdict, where the jury found both for and against the plaintiffs and found no fraud scheme, as a bump in the road,” the legal team at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan said in a statement.
Musk, who is an extremely active user of X, has not yet commented on the jury’s decision.
The billionaire is often dubbed “Teflon Elon” for his ability to come out on top in the most difficult legal cases. In 2023, a jury in the same San Francisco court cleared him of similar charges of misleading investors, following Musk’s claims in 2018 that he had the funds to turn Tesla from a publicly traded company into a private one. That deal never happened.

Rental affordability hits worst level on record
A typical income-earning family could afford just 37% of rental properties on the market, new research has revealed, as rental affordability hits its lowest level on record.
The dire state of Australia's rental market has been laid bare in the latest realestate.com.au Rental Affordability Report, which found rental prices rose a further 5% in the December quarter of 2025 to be 55% higher than at the start of 2020.
Following years of strong rental growth, national median advertised rents hit $650 at the end of 2025, up from $420 before the pandemic.
REA Group executive manager of economics and report author, Angus Moore, said Australian renters are facing the toughest conditions since at least 2008, when records began.
“A median income household in Australia could afford to rent just 37% of the advertised rentals on realestate.com.au between July and December 2025," Mr Moore said.
“Since the onset of the pandemic, national rent prices have grown 55%, and income growth has failed to keep pace, lifting just 25% over the same period. This imbalance has worsened rental affordability.
On top of that, Mr Moore said rent prices have grown faster for more affordable properties.
“Thankfully, there are signs conditions are improving for renters. Rental availability improved over 2025 in most capitals, and rent growth, while still solid, has slowed from the peaks seen in 2022 and 2023."
"However, rental affordability will remain at incredibly low levels in the year ahead.”
For lower-income households earning just under $75,000 per year, the report showed just 2% of rentals would have been affordable in recent months.
Households in New South Wales and South Australia are facing the toughest rental affordability across the country, though Mr Moore noted other states are only marginally more affordable.

SA election fraud – Labor 33 seats on 38% of vote, Libs 10 seats, ONP 1 for combined 41%
THE narrative fed to us by mainstream media in recent weeks is that One Nation is soaring in popularity because the major parties are on the nose.
But in South Australia, the narrative has gone awry. A simple adding up of voter preferences as posted by the South Australian Electoral Commission on Sunday reveals a massive “anomaly” that is denying the majority of non-Labor party voters in the state representation in Parliament.
The South Australian Electoral Commission website showed the Liberals at 18.8% of counted votes, only 3.1% behind One Nation on 21,9% in provisional results posted on Sunday by the SAEC, with 56% of the vote counted.
The big “anomaly” is that Labor has won 38.4% of the vote thus far to be leading in 33 seats, while the combined vote of One Nation and the Liberals is 41%, to give this majority of non-Labor voters just 10 seats for the Liberals and one for One Nation. Something in South Australia is more than anomalous, it stinks.
One Nation made history by claiming its first lower house seat in the state, with its candidate Robert Roylance winning Hammond in south-east South Australia. Pundits say the party could win two more in the Lower House.
Labor’s overall vote was also down but that didn’t matter, and according to “projections” they will increase their number of seats in the Lower House of Parliament to at least 32 seats from 27 before the election.
Media was calling it a “landslide win” and not asking any questions about how a minority of voters can win vastly more seats than the majority of voters. But the reason, apparently, is the state’s “Golden Boy” Premier Peter Malinauskas, who cannot put a foot wrong. That is pure mythology.
The only other seats to be provisionally called as won, was four seats that went to independents.
Something is certainly smelly in South Australia, where the Labor Party has a long tradition of presiding over “anomalies” on election days. Given this current anomaly involving short changing of the majority of voters, we can only assume the state’s electoral system is thoroughly rigged through the preference system.
United Voice Australia candidate Mark Aldridge noted that the SA Electoral Commission computers went down at the opening of voting. That is always a sign of something suspicious afoot. Federal Electoral Commission staff were also called in to “help with the complicated count” apparently due to the record number of candidates.
Aldridge said he also encountered Labor Party people coaching Asian people (presumably recent immigrants) standing in lines on “how to vote legally by filling in your card like this”.
And then there was the problem of One Nation’s no-preference voting cards. These are wide open to abuse and where uninformed voters don’t mark their own preferences.
They could also be altered to redirect preferences to Labor, not that Labor would need to do that, given the massive rigging in the system that has already given them a massive majority of seats from a minority of votes.
But now comes the part almost no one is talking about. South Australia has a little known feature in its electoral system: The vote savings provision. This provision allows ballots that would normally be informal, whereby a voter simply marks “1” alongside one party, to still be counted if the voter’s intent is clear and a valid preference structure exists via a party-supplied preference ticket registered with the electoral commission.
One Nation encouraged voters to vote “1” and then number as they wished. Many voters appear to have stopped at “1”. Ordinarily, that would cost votes. But not necessarily here. Because One Nation has lodged the required registered ticket, those ballots can be rescued and added back into the count. And that changes everything.

The Trump administration has retracted a Biden-era CIA document that said 'traditional motherhood' and 'homemaking' were signs of white extremism.
The FBI under the direction of the Biden administration shocked the world when a leaked document showed the intelligence agency had branded Latin Mass Catholics as likely “violent extremists.”
Now another equally shocking CIA internal memo has been unearthed by the Trump administration which shows that under Biden, the CIA had warned that “traditional motherhood” and “homemaking” are signs of white extremism.
America First Legal (AFL), which published on X a lengthy thread concerning the disturbing CIA memo, said, “The intelligence assessment reveals the top-to-bottom bias at Biden’s CIA.”
“An agency with critical intelligence responsibilities was spending its resources targeting women promoting motherhood,” noted AFL.
The assessment focuses on those that “believe that their perception of an idealized white European ethnic identity is under attack from people who embody and support multiculturalism and globalization.”
Titled, “Women Advancing White Racially and Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremist Radicalization and Recruitment,” the 11-page 2021 document starts, “We assess that female members have been emerging as key players of the transnational white racially and ethnically motivated violent extremist (REMVE) movement, taking on diverse roles to advance white REMVE goals—including the white REMVE view of traditional motherhood—and successfully participating in newer roles in propaganda and recruitment.”
“White RMVEs and their sympathizers have claimed in online posts that it is essential for white families to have as many biological children as possible to counter the rising birthrates among non-white populations; white REMVEs allege that this rise is a conspiracy, which they have termed the ‘great replacement,’ according to an Open Source Enterprise assessment,” the memo asserts.
By page 2 of the document, the CIA frets that REMVEs have “lauded motherhood and homemaking as women’s most important responsibility.”

Spanish newspaper El País revealed new details surrounding the death of University of Alabama student James "Jimmy" Gracey.
Gracy’s body was pulled from the water in Barcelona on Thursday after a two-day search for the 20-year-old. Gracey was visiting friends who were studying abroad and was last seen at Shoko nightclub.
Although initial reports suggested foul play was involved, a newly discovered surveillance video showed Gracey walking toward a dock before accidentally falling into the water.
Gracey was alone at the time of his death.
A friend he was traveling with told authorities he returned to the Airbnb the two were renting while Gracey stayed behind at the nightclub. He was last seen at 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities in the area of Olympic Village searched for Gracey for two days before finding him dead.
Gracey's younger brother, Tommy, posted on Instagram, "I don't know what to say or how to deal with this. I can't believe it. I'm gonna miss all the texts and calls about hockey, school, and life in general. I'm not ready to say goodbye to that."
Tommy Gracey said his big brother was courageous and inspiring. He said one of his most cherished memories with his brother was when he ran into his arms while visiting him in Alabama.
"Thank you for that. Thank you for everything," Tommy Gracey continued. "I just can't believe that's all over. I will do my best to pass on your legacy. What a ride dude. I can't wait to see you again in eternal paradise. I love you and fly high, Jimmy. ❤️🕊️"
The family said they were grateful for the support they are receiving.

From Sde Teiman, the truth about Israel’s military justice system has been set free
By dropping all charges against the soldiers filmed abusing a Palestinian detainee, Israel has abandoned the whole masquerade of accountability.
The renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking discovered that a black hole, the celestial object that swallows everything around it and from which, seemingly, nothing that enters ever escapes, nevertheless emits a certain level of electromagnetic radiation. As is customary in the exact sciences, the phenomenon was named after the scientist who discovered it; in this case, “Hawking radiation.”
Sde Teiman, the Israeli military base-turned-detention facility for Palestinians, which includes a hospital compound for prisoners, has functioned since early on in Israel’s devastating war on Gaza as a moral black hole. All traces of humanity — be it the most basic moral principles, medical ethics, or any remnants of Israeli shame — were swallowed up into it and completely disappeared.
According to testimonies from former detainees and investigations by journalists and human rights organizations, we Israelis starved, tortured, and humiliated Palestinian prisoners there, while providing the wounded and sick with disgraceful medical treatment which, on several occasions, led to amputations that would have been avoidable had the care been reasonable. All values were whirled into the heart of the moral black hole that is the Sde Teiman camp. Was no value at all really saved from it?
Well, it turns out that Sde Teiman, too, has its own Hawking radiation spewing out of it. But just like what disappeared into Sde Teiman, so too the radiation emitted from it is not electromagnetic but ethical: Sde Teiman has radiated the truth about the nature, functioning, and mission of the law enforcement bodies responsible for handling allegations of Israel’s human rights abuses against Palestinians.
Last week, Israel’s top military lawyer dropped all charges against five soldiers from Force 100 who were accused of beating a Palestinian detainee and tearing his rectum by stabbing it with a sharp object — an act that was partially caught on CCTV camera in footage that was later leaked. In doing so, he exposed once and for all the great Israeli lie about the existence of a professional, independent investigative and prosecutorial system seeking substantively to hold rogue soldiers to account.
The closing of the case and the cancellation of the indictment accusing the defendants of horrific physical abuse of a helpless detainee freed the truth from the chains of lies in which it has been held by Israel’s hasbara apparatus. (Incidentally, this is the proper use of the Hebrew root ḥ-l-tz, “to extract” — not the Israeli who got stuck in London and found a flight back to the land of wars, apartheid, and a Kahanist government, but a terrible truth imprisoned in hell and brought into the light.)
The truth is that a law enforcement system that genuinely strives to hold soldiers accountable when they kill, humiliate, or abuse Palestinians has never existed in Israel, or at least not for several decades. The truth is that what exists is a system that effectively provides immunity for soldiers when their victims are Palestinians, and even strives for that outcome. And the truth is that the rare instances of accountability that the system does produce are intended to conceal this reality and fend off the claim that there is no punishment in Israel for harming Palestinians.
In other words, the military enforcement systems have long wanted to proceed without enforcement, while still appearing as though they were fulfilling their purpose, by sacrificing a few cases, usually minor ones, in which indictments were filed. These indictments were never meant to enforce the law but rather to serve as a symbolic performance of enforcement — an exception designed to obscure the rule.
According to data obtained through freedom of information requests to the army by the Israeli human rights organization Yesh Din (for which I serve as a legal advisor), between 2016 and 2024 the military enforcement authorities were informed of 2,427 complaints regarding harm to Palestinians by soldiers in the occupied West Bank. The army opened investigations into only 552 of these cases (22.7 percent of the complaints), and only 23 led to indictments (0.9 percent).
In the Gaza Strip, the situation is not much better: More than 1,500 complaints related to soldiers’ conduct since October 2023 have so far yielded only two indictments.
This is the context in which Military Advocate General Itay Offir’s decision to close the Sde Teiman abuse case should be understood: not as a final nail in the coffin of the pretense of law enforcement, but rather as the abandonment of the whole masquerade.
