Report: White House Fears Hunter Could Doom Joe Biden’s Potential 2024 Campaign

Aides in the Biden administration fear Hunter and President Joe Biden’s shady business activities could doom the president’s potential campaign in 2024, Politico reported.

The Republicans’ investigations into the Biden family upon retaking the House in November could derail any hope of Joe Biden’s returning to the White House after 2024.

According to Politico’s Eugene Daniels, Jonathan Lemire, Jordain Carney, “[i]f a GOP-led House turns up the heat on Hunter Biden, it could weigh heavily in the president’s decision to run for a second term.”

“White House officials said Biden is preparing to seek reelection, but a final decision likely won’t be made for several months, with the first lady having an outsized influence. Some aides believe that Biden could forgo another campaign if it would shield his family from hostile congressional investigations,” the report states.

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, have both pledged to investigate the Biden family business if they retake the House in November.

“We’ve got a lot of opportunities. We’ve got a lot of work to do. Obviously, we’re going to have some high-profile committee hearings on the investigations dealing with Hunter Biden,” Comer told the publication.

The GOP’s plan to probe the Bidens has likely alarmed many in the White House, causing aides to begin preparing messaging strategies for the “investigative onslaught” coming if Republicans retake the House.

A select committee may be deployed to investigate the Bidens, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told Breitbart News in August. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) also told Breitbart News that it is “absolutely” an option to probe the “big guy.” A select committee is a type of temporary committee created to conduct investigations or consider other measures on a specific topic.

“I think it can be done over oversight. There’s plenty there [to investigate],” Mace told Breitbart News. “But if that is not enough, once the traditional committee process investigates – then by all means – a special committee would be another option, absolutely.”

The president’s son is reportedly under investigation for tax fraud, money laundering, and gun and foreign lobbying violations by Trump-appointed United States Attorney David Weiss. Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland has refused to say whether a special counsel should be placed over the investigation to maintain a just probe. A special counsel would distance from Joe Biden and the investigation into Hunter and the Biden family business dealings.

Recent polling shows 62 percent of registered voters believe Joe Biden likely consulted and perhaps profited from the Biden family business dealings. Fifty-eight percent of voters believed Joe Biden played a role in his family’s business. Sixty percent said Hunter Biden has sold “influence and access” to the president.

President Joe Biden and his staff have claimed at least seven times the president has had no part in the family business, but evidence shows he has been involved in at least 17 instances.

Supreme Court to Consider Electoral Argument Targeted by DOJ, January 6 Committee as ‘Insurrection’

The argument that state legislatures have sole power to interpret their election laws, and the process for selecting presidential electors, is set to be heard by the Supreme Court — even as those on one side of the argument are being targeted by investigators.

In recent weeks, the Department of Justice has served subpoenas and search warrants on dozens of individuals who have argued that presidential electors can legally be rejected by the Vice President and sent back to state legislatures for further reconsideration.

The subpoenas have been part of a so-called “fake electors” inquiry into alternate slates of electors prepared by Trump supporters after the 2020 election. They were prepared as a remedy in the event that courts ruled state legislatures could decide electoral slates. However, the media, the Democratic Party, and investigators — both in congress and in law enforcement — have cast the alternate electoral slates as if they were an attempt to defraud Congress and impose pro-Trump electors outside any constitutional process.

The Supreme Court, in Moore v. Harper, will consider the question of whether the state courts can overturn rules for elections that are established by the state legislatures. The question concerns Article I, Section 4, of the U.S. Constitution, which states: “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof.” Likewise, Article II, Section 1, provides: “Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors.”

Trump supporters, citing disputes over results in several states, objected to the intervention of state courts in voting processes, often at the behest of Democrats and left-wing groups who wanted to expand vote-by-mail and other innovations.

At the time, the Supreme Court declined to hear appeals from Republicans who argued that state courts had overstepped their legal authority. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote at the time that the Court had failed to deal with an issue that would recur — and it has.

The dispute in Moore v. Harper is not about the 2020 election, but rather about congressional redistricting in North Carolina. However, it has implications for the arguments made about the 2020 election — arguments now considered part of an “insurrection.”

Whatever the Court’s decision in Moore v. Harper, the fact that the argument of Trump supporters will be represented by litigants before the highest court in the land calls into question the justification for investigating those who made those arguments in public.

Pennsylvania Democrat US Senate candidate John Fetterman endorses gun confiscation.

Fetterman, who’s the only Democrat running for office in Pennsylvania that pointed a shotgun at an unarmed, innocent black jogger, wants to take your weapons.

“I’ve always supported a ban to the assault rifle ownership,” Fetterman said on April 11th shortly before his massive stroke. “We should not have weapons of war in the hands of civilians.”

“I have seen with my own eyes at the scenes in my community what a military grade round does to the human body. And we have no need for civilians to own those kind of weapons,” Fetterman added.

So Fetterman doesn’t just want a ban on the sale of so-called assault rifles, he wants to confiscate them from law abiding American citizens.

Fetterman also wants to eliminate the filibuster so the US Senate can pass ‘gun reform legislation’ that supersedes state laws.

“But what we can do is eliminate the filibuster and pass comprehensive gun reform legislation federally that supersedes and eliminates the option to have open carry,” Fetterman said.

This isn’t the first time Fetterman has called for the end of the filibuster to pass gun control legislation.

In 2013 Fetterman chased a black man down the street who he thought was involved in shootings (turns out it was likely bottle rockets) in his neighborhood.

The black jogger told a local news outlet that Fetterman pointed the shotgun at his chest.

Ramos, in his Instagram bio, described himself as a 'personal trainer' and 'natural athlete.' Maloney's office said that Ramos was paid as a driver.

On March 24, 2021 Florke posted a workout video of himself and Maloney, and again tagged Ramos. On June 24, 2021 Florke posted a photo of shirtless photo of himself and captioned it: 'Hiked Mt. Beacon with my trainer @3rick_ramos1993 this morning instead of our normal workout.'

On three other occasions throughout June and July, Florke posted workout content to social media and tagged Ramos.

Maloney's office claimed Ramos was paid taxpayer money 'exclusively' for driving duties and to question the payments was 'blatant homophobia.'

'Congratulations to the Daily Mail for their shocking discovery that Rep. Maloney and his husband work out! Beyond that, there is nothing to this piece besides blatant homophobia and yet another baseless attack on a person of color who worked for Rep. Maloney,' Maloney's communications director Mia Ehrenberg said in a statement.

The driver who went on paternity leave is black.

‼️KIDNAPPING‼️ (10/3/2022) — BCFAC News — A Merced County, California, family of four, including an 8-month-old child, was kidnapped on Monday, by a person the sheriff's office believes to be armed and dangerous.

The Merced County Sheriff's Office said the family was taken against their will from a business in the 800 block of South Highway 59 in the south Merced area of the county.

The family was identified as 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri, her 27-year-old mother Jasleen Kaur, her 36-year-old father Jasdeep Singh, and her 39-year-old uncle Amandeep Singh.

It is unknown if the family knew their kidnapper, but the sheriff's office is urging people to not approach the family or kidnapper and to instead call 911 if you see them.

“These operations eschew official bilateral police and judicial cooperation and violate the international rule of law, and may violate the territorial integrity in third countries involved in setting up a parallel policing mechanism using illegal methods,” reads a report by Safeguard Defenders, a human rights watchdog, released earlier this month.

The report, titled “110 Overseas: Chinese Transnational Policing Gone Wild,” details China’s extensive efforts to combat “fraud” by its citizens living overseas, in part by opening several police stations on five continents that have assisted Chinese authorities in “carrying out policing operations on foreign soil.”

Europe is home to most of the police stations, with locations spread across the continent in places such as London, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Athens, Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt. North America is also home to four of the stations, with three locations in Toronto and one in New York City. In all, there are 54 such stations in 30 different countries.

Fungi grow inside cancerous tumors, scientists discover

Could fungi in tumors fuel cancer's spread?

Scientists discovered traces of fungi lurking in the tumors of people with different types of cancer, including breast, colon, pancreatic and lung cancers. However, it's still not clear that theise fungi plays any role in the development or progression of cancer.

Two new studies, both published Sept. 29 in the journal Cell, uncovered DNA from fungal cells hiding out in tumors throughout the body. In one study(opens in new tab), researchers dusted for the genetic fingerprints of fungi in 35 different cancer types by examining more than 17,000 tissue, blood and plasma samples from cancer patients. Not every single tumor tissue sample tested positive for fungus, but overall, the team did find fungi in all 35 cancer types assessed.

"Some tumors had no fungi at all, and some had a huge amount of fungi," co-senior author Ravid Straussman, a cancer biologist at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, told STAT(opens in new tab); often, though, when tumors contained fungi they did so in "low abundances," the team noted in their report.

Based on the amount of fungal DNA his team uncovered, Straussman estimated that some tumors contain one fungal cell for every 1,000 to 10,000 cancer cells. If you consider that a small tumor can be laden with a billion or so cancer cells, you can imagine that fungi may "have a big effect on cancer biology," he said.

Straussman and his team found that each cancer type tended to be associated with its own unique collection of fungal species; these included typically harmless fungi known to live in humans and some that can cause diseases, like yeast infections. In turn, these fungal species often coexisted with particular bacteria within the tumor. For now, it's unknown if and how these microbes interact in the tumor and if their interactions help fuel the cancers' spread.

The second Cell study(opens in new tab) uncovered similar results to the first but focused specifically on gastrointestinal, lung and breast tumors, Nature reported(opens in new tab). The researchers found that each of those three cancer types tended to host the fungal genuses Candida, Blastomyces and Malassezia, respectively.

Both research groups found hints that the growth of certain fungi may be linked to worse cancer outcomes. For example, Straussman's group found that breast cancer patients with the fungus Malassezia globosa in their tumors showed worse survival rates than patients whose tumors lacked the fungus. The second group, led by immunologist Iliyan Iliev at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, found that patients with a relatively high abundance of Candida in their gastrointestinal tumors showed increased gene activity linked to rampant inflammation, cancer spread and poor survival rates, Nature reported.

Despite these early hints, neither study can definitively say if fungi actually drive these poor outcomes or if aggressive cancers just create an environment where these fungi can easily grow. The studies also don't address if fungi can contribute to cancer development, pushing healthy cells to turn cancerous,

Both studies come with similar limitations. For example, both pulled tissue and blood samples from existing databases, and it's possible that some samples may have been contaminated with fungi during the collection process, Ami Bhatt, a microbiome specialist at Stanford University in California, told Nature. Both research groups attempted to weed out such contaminants, but even with these precautions, Bhatt said that it would be best if the results could be replicated with samples taken in a sterile environment.

Straussman told STAT that these initial studies serve as a springboard for future research into mycobiota, meaning the communities of microbes associated with cancers. "As a field, we need to evaluate everything we know about cancer," he said. "Look at everything through the lens of the microbiome — the bacteria, the fungi, the tumors, even viruses. There are all these creatures in the tumor, and they must have some effect."

Physics Nobel rewards 'spooky science' of entanglement

This year's Nobel Prize in Physics rewards research into quantum mechanics - the science that describes nature at the smallest scales.

The award goes to Frenchman Alain Aspect, American John Clauser and Austrian Anton Zeilinger.

Their work should pave the way to a new generation of powerful computers and telecommunications systems that are impossible to break into.

The men will share prize money of 10 million Swedish krona (£800,000).

This year's three laureates conducted ground-breaking experiments using entangled quantum states, where two sub-atomic particles behave like a single unit even when they are separated.

"Quantum information science is a vibrant and rapidly developing field," said Eva Olsson, a member of the Nobel Committee for Physics.

"It has broad and potential implications in areas such as secure information transfer, quantum computing, and sensing technology."

Alain Aspect, 75, is affiliated to the Université Paris-Saclay and École Polytechnique, Palaiseau. John Clauser, 79, runs his own company in California. Anton Zeilinger, 77, is attached to the University of Vienna.

The same three men won the Wolf Prize together in 2010.

Anton Zeilinger got an early morning call to tell him he'd won. "It was very kind to receive your phone call just about an hour ago, and I'm still kind of shocked, but it's a very positive shock," he said.

Quantum mechanics describes the behaviour of sub-atomic particles. It's a field that was opened up in the early 20th Century. And it's in a particular aspect of this science that Tuesday's Laureates made their name.

It concerns something called "entanglement" in which two or more quantum particles - usually photons, the particles of light - can be strongly connected when very far apart even though they are not physically linked.

Their shared state might be their energy or their spin. It's a strange phenomenon that Albert Einstein called "spooky action at a distance".

The theoretical underpinning was developed in the 1960s by Northern Irish physicist John Stewart Bell. But it was Aspect, Clauser and Zeilinger who then conducted the experiments to show the phenomenon was real and could have practical uses.

Two areas are garnering a lot of attention today. One is quantum computers which promise a leap in the ability to solve complex problems. And the other is in encryption, the secure encoding of information. Exploiting entanglement will make it impossible for a third party to eavesdrop on private communications.

Chinese scientists using an test satellite recently demonstrated the quantum entanglement of photons over a distance of more than 1,000km.

Commenting, Prof Tim Spiller from York University, UK, said Tuesday's Laureates were worthy winners who had helped to open up an exciting future.

"Quantum technologies have been pursued significantly in the UK and in many other countries worldwide for the last 10 years. We've known about entanglement for rather longer than that, but the investment has been made over the last 10 years to actually really start to exploit this. And there are now one or two commercial products emerging that you can buy that use various aspects of this quantum feature, and we expect there will be many more in the future," he told BBC News.

The Physics Nobel in 2021 was given to three researchers who advanced our understanding of complex systems - in particular, Earth's climate.

On Monday, the Nobel committee gave the Physiology or Medicine prize to Sweden's Svante Paabo for his work on human evolution.

As their new term begins, the Supreme Court is due to hear two cases concerning voting rights. One in particular concerning gerrymandered maps in Alabama could further dilute the protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 depending on how the conservative-weighted court votes. Starting on Tuesday, the Supreme Court is due to hear arguments in the Merrill v. Milligan case, as USA Today notes.

While Alabama’s current Black population is at 27%, Alabama’s proposed voting maps would give only one of the state’s seven congressional districts a chance to elect a Black representative. In January, a three-judge panel ruled the maps violated the Voting Rights Act and create a second district where Black voters either made up a majority or near majority of the population. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court then sided with Alabama in a 5-4 vote stating that such maps would be too close to the spring primaries to make this change.

The main argument is that if these maps are allowed to stand, this gives Black Alabama citizens no chance to elect representatives to elevate their interests.

Russia is ready to negotiate with the current or future Ukrainian president, Dmitry Peskov says

To resume peace talks with Kiev, Moscow will wait for either a change of stance by the current Ukrainian president or for a new leader, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. This comes after President Zelensky signed a decree ruling out negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Even before the launch of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in late February, Moscow “was the supporter of the idea of achieving the terms put forward by the Russian side through diplomatic means,” Peskov told journalists on Tuesday.

Russia is still ready to look for a negotiated solution to the conflict between the neighbors, according to the spokesman. But “it takes two parties to negotiate,” he noted.

“We’ll now be waiting for the current president to change his stance or for the arrival of the future president of Ukraine, who would change his position in the interests of the Ukrainian people,” Peskov said.

On Tuesday, Zelensky signed a decree on Ukraine officially rejecting peace talks with Putin. It rubber stamped decisions made by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, on Friday, just hours after Putin signed agreements on Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions joining Russia.

One of the resolutions was: “stating the impossibility of conducting negotiations with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.”

Zelensky recorded a video address after the meeting claiming that “we [Ukraine] are ready for dialogue with Russia, but with another president of Russia.”

In his speech on Friday, Putin called upon Ukraine to “cease all hostilities, stop the war it started back in 2014 and return to the negotiating table.”

However, he made it clear that the decision to unite with Russia, which the people of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions made during referendums, was not up for discussion. Kiev should treat the “free choice”of the four territories “with respect,” Putin said, adding that it was “the only way for peace.”

Moscow and Kiev have not sat down at the negotiating table since talks in Istanbul in late March. The Russian side, which initially expressed optimism on the peace process, later accused Ukraine of backtracking on all the progress achieved in Türkiye, saying it had lost trust in Kiev’s negotiators.

In recent months, Ukraine has been either putting forward terms that Moscow deemed ‘unrealistic’ for the resumption of talks, or said that they can only begin after Russia is defeated on the battlefield.

During the conflict,Zelensky has also, on several occasions, proposed meeting with Putin face-to-face in order to find a way to end the hostilities. But Moscow insisted that the two leaders should only get together to sign concrete agreements already prepared for them by the negotiating teams.

Belarus’ participation is limited to self-defense and having Russia’s back, President Lukashenko said

Belarus is a participant of the Russian military operation against Ukraine, President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday, stressing that its role was strictly limited.

“We are not hiding this. But we do not kill anyone. We do not send our troops anywhere. We do not break our obligations,” the Belarusian leader said during a government security meeting, as quoted by state news agency Belta.

“Our role is to prevent this conflict from spreading into the territory of Belarus, first of all. And, secondly, it is to prevent a strike against Belarus from Poland, Lithuania and Latvia under the cover of the special military operation,” he added.

Belarus, a long-time military ally of Russia, allowed its troops to use its territory to launch an offensive against Ukraine in late February. Minsk has rejected claims by officials in Kiev that its troops were directly engaged in action against Ukrainian forces.

During the Tuesday meeting, Lukashenko further described Ukraine’s participation as ensuring that “nobody would shoot Russians in the back from the territory of Belarus”. He also stated that his country offered medical assistance and food to people, Russians and Ukrainians alike.

“Most of all, we feed the refugees, those impoverished poor people who arrive to us from Ukraine, numbering 400 to 500 each day. How can we not feed them and treat them?”he asked.

Lukashenko assured that his country would not get involved in the Ukraine crisis beyond what he had outlined. He dismissed as baseless claims by some of his critics that the Belarusian government was preparing a military mobilization following a similar move by Moscow. Russia announced enrolment of some reservists into active military service last month.

The Belarusian president urged the military to use the Russian experience to keep the national armed forces ready for a possible call to defend the country.

“So learn, learn and once again learn. First of all, learn the military profession in a proper way,” he instructed officials, using two quotes from Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin, which were popular in the Soviet Union.

He also reiterated his assessment that Russia would be willing to cease hostilities with Ukraine, while other parties fueled the conflict with “concrete steps.” He pointed the finger at the US, which he said continues sending planeloads of military equipment for the Ukrainian military to Poland and other NATO members.

The G7's upcoming anti-Russia sanctions will target oil and petrochemicals in three phases, senior US Treasury official Ben Harris told the Argus European Crude Conference in Geneva on Tuesday.

According to Harris, as cited by Reuters, the sanctions will tackle Russian crude oil, then focus on diesel, and finally lower value products such as naphtha. The G7 sanctions should be seen by the industry as a way to continue trading, ensuring Russian oil continues to flow, he explained.

“The price cap can be considered a release valve on the (EU) sanctions package,” Harris said, adding: “It transforms the ban from an absolute ban to a conditional ban.”

The price at which Russian oil sales will be capped has not been decided, the official noted, adding that it will be high enough to provide an incentive to maintain output, and above the marginal production cost for Russia's most expensive oil well.

The EU also aims to sanction Russian exports, with its restrictions reportedly set to match the oil price ceiling agreed by the G7. The bloc will ban seaborne imports of Russian oil from December 5 and of oil products from February 5, 2023, cutting the trade off from financial services and potentially halting it worldwide.

Western leaders agreed in June to explore a price ceiling to limit how much refiners and traders can pay for Russian crude.Moscow has made it clear that it will not comply, instead shipping its crude to countries not bound by the cap. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has warned that nations that support the price cap will not receive any Russian fuel.

Do fungi lurking inside cancers speed their growth?

Studies that scrutinized thousands of tumour samples provide the clearest link yet between cancer and fungi — but more research is needed.

For years, evidence has been mounting that bacteria are linked to cancer, and sometimes even play a crucial part in its progression. Now, researchers have found a similar connection with another type of microorganism: fungi.

Tumours of various types of cancer contain different species of microscopic or single-celled fungus, and investigating the species that are present might one day be useful for diagnosing cancer or predicting its course, according to two studies published in Cell on 29 September1,2. “It’s fascinating to look at fungi in the setting of cancer,” says Ami Bhatt, a microbiome specialist at Stanford University in California. But she cautions that the studies only suggest that there is an association between fungal species and certain cancers — they do not show whether or not the fungi are directly responsible for cancer progression.

Inner microbes

Like bacteria, fungal microorganisms form a crucial part of the human microbiome — a delicate balance of microbes living inside the body. To understand how this composition might be altered in people with cancer, Lian Narunsky Haziza, a cancer biologist at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, and her colleagues catalogued fungal populations in more than 17,000 tissue and blood samples representing 35 types of cancer1.

As expected, fungi, including several types of yeast, were present in all the types of cancer included in the study, but some species were linked to different outcomes, depending on the cancer. For example, the presence of Malassezia globosa, a fungus that has previously been associated with pancreatic cancer, was linked to significantly reduced survival rates in breast cancer, the researchers found. By also characterizing the bacteria in the tumours, Narunsky Haziza and her colleagues found that most types of fungus had certain bacterial species that they tended to coexist with, meaning that the tumour might favour both fungal and bacterial growth — unlike typical environments, in which fungi and bacteria compete over shared resources.

In another study2, immunologist Iliyan Iliev at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City and his colleagues looked at gastrointestinal, lung and breast tumours, and found that they tended to contain Candida, Blastomyces and Malassezia fungi, respectively. Higher levels of Candida in gastrointestinal tumour cells were linked to more gene activity that promotes inflammation, a higher rate of metastasis and lower survival rates, the researchers found.

Characterizing fungal cells in a tumour is like finding a needle in a haystack, says Deepak Saxena, a microbiologist at New York University who has researched the fungus–cancer connection. Depending on the sample, there is usually only about one fungal cell for every 10,000 tumour cells, he says.

Furthermore, many of the fungal species in question are widespread, which makes sample contamination a serious concern, says Iliev. That meant the researchers had to take great care to filter out any potential evidence of contamination or false matches for fungal DNA from their results. For example, Iliev and his colleagues found a DNA fragment misidentified as portobello mushroom (Agaricus bisporus), a common edible fungus, in tumour tissues from across the body.

Both research teams got most of their tissue and blood samples from databases, so the samples were not collected with the aim of minimizing fungal contamination, says Bhatt. Although the researchers developed methods to filter any potential contaminants out of the sequencing data, she would like to see the results replicated using samples taken in a sterile environment.

Russia's shift to hypersonic weapons is likely a means of contending with American superiority in size, technology and sheer number of aircraft carriers. The U.S. Navy intends to maintain a force of 12 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.

The age of Russian superweapons is upon us &ndash; at least that's what President Vladimir Putin wants us to believe.

And they are cause for concern because the United States' traditional early warning systems might not be able to see those weapons coming.

Hypersonic weapons such as Russia's 3M22 Zircon fly so fast and low at speeds of up to Mach 6 and at a low atmospheric-ballistic trajectory that they can penetrate traditional anti-missile defense systems.

The missile flies with an advanced fuel that the Russians say gives it a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. And it's so fast that the air pressure in front of the weapon forms a plasma cloud as it moves, absorbing radio waves and making it practically invisible to active radar systems.

U.S. Aegis missile interceptor systems require 8-10 seconds of reaction time to intercept incoming attacks. In those 8-10 seconds, the Russian Zircon missiles will already have traveled 20 kilometers, and the interceptor missiles do not fly fast enough to catch up.

EU citizens fail first gas-saving test – regulator

Consumers in Germany increased gas consumption above the five-year average in the last full week of September, the regulator says

German households and small businesses raised their natural gas consumption by 14.5% above the five-year average in the week from September 19 to 25, according to Germany’s energy regulator, the Federal Network Agency.

The private sector represents around 40% of gas consumption in Germany, mainly using gas for heating. The increase coincided with this year’s first cold snap, with temperatures in northwest Europe dropping below the 30-year average. However, according to the regulator, “the savings required to avoid a gas shortage must be achieved independently of temperatures.”

The Federal Network Agency noted that a reduction in consumption of at least 20% is required to avoid a gas shortage in the coming months.

“The gas consumption of households and businesses in the last week was well above the average consumption of previous years. This week's figures are therefore very sobering. Without significant savings in the private sector, too, it will be difficult to avoid a gas shortage in winter,” Klaus Muller, head of the Federal Network Agency, said, commenting on the data.

According to Muller, the country can get through the winter on well-filled storage facilities, but there are conditions.

“Firstly, the projects that have been initiated to increase gas imports must be implemented. Secondly, the gas supply in our neighboring countries must also remain stable. And thirdly, gas must be saved, even if it is gets even colder towards winter. It will depend on each individual,” Muller stressed.

Large industrial consumers in Germany account for 60% of gas consumption. So far they have managed to adhere to the government’s requests, and lowered usage by some 22% in August. Demand was also well below the average in September, at 1170 GWh per week compared to 1679 GWh per week in the past four years.

The Federal Network Agency has said it will be publishing weekly figures on gas consumption in Germany throughout the heating season.

The move comes in response to sabotage on the Nord Stream pipelines, an official told Reuters

The Italian government has strengthened surveillance and controls on underwater energy and telecommunications cables off its shores, a source close to the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.

The decision comes in response to the explosions that were detected in late September on Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, connecting Russia to the EU through Germany, the source said.

Last week, Reuters also reported that Italy had boosted surveillance of the pipelines bringing gas to the country from the south and east.

According to two senior officials, who talked to the agency, security measures were boosted at the TransMed pipeline, which connects Algeria to Sicily, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), running from Azerbaijan to Apulia, and the GreenStream connection, between Libya and Sicily.

Danish authorities reported leaks on both the Nord Stream 1 and 2 on September 26 after the operator experienced loss of pressure on the pipelines. Danish and Swedish authorities later said a series of undersea explosions had been detected near Bornholm island in the Baltic Sea.

The incident is widely considered to be the result of sabotage. Some Western officials claimed that it was Russia, which blew up its own pipelines, while Moscow has pointed the finger at the US as the potential culprit.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said last week that “sanctions are no longer enough for the Anglo-Saxons [the US and UK]. They have turned to sabotage – it’s unbelievable, but it’s a fact – by organizing the explosions on the Nord Stream international gas pipelines.”

Last week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called the explosions a “tremendous opportunity” to wean the EU off Russian energy, while boasting about the US becoming “the leading supplier of [liquefied natural gas] to Europe.”

The pipelines, which have been at the heart of the energy standoff between Moscow and Brussels amid the conflict in Ukraine, suffered significant damage, but, according to Russia’s gas giant Gazprom, they can be restored with “time and appropriate funds.”

The company also said that one of the lines of Nord Stream 2 could have been unaffected by the blasts. Pressurized gas had to be drained from it in order to carry out diagnostic tests, it added.

The criticism from Kiev comes as European countries debate how to disburse billions in financial assistance

Delays in economic aid from the European Union to Ukraine are “unacceptable” and must be resolved to avert disaster, a senior Ukranian official warned, pointing to massive budget shortfalls as the EU approved another $4.9 billion (€5 billion) assistance package.

Speaking to Politico on Monday, a top economic adviser to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Oleg Ustenko, slammed the European bloc after it agreed to send another tranche of aid between mid-October and the end of the year, insisting his country’s needs must be met sooner.

“Our minister of finance is under extreme high pressure,when he sends these checks to the military, to pension funds… we have to have this money in his hands. So something like one week or several weeks' delay is just not acceptable,” Ustenko told the outlet.

While the EU initially approved $8.8 billion (€9 billion) in assistance last May, only a small fraction of that has been sent so far. The latest move would break up a $4.9 billion (€5 billion) payment into three installments to be transferred before the end of 2022, though the rest of the original package likely won’t be sent until next year.

Monday’s agreement followed months of debate between EU member states over the exact form the aid should take, with Germany arguing in favor of grants instead of loans. Berlin has accepted a plan to provide the latest $4.9 billion as a loan, but the body has yet to reach a consensus on the remaining funds.

Ukraine has heavily relied on foreign aid since Russia’s attack commenced in February, with the country’s economic output taking a hit of up to 40% this year and the government facing a budget gap of some $5 billion per month.

While the United States has raced to inject cash into Ukraine, approving some $20 billion in economic and humanitarian assistance alone, the EU has been more hesitant, instead sending a little over $13 billion between all of its members, according to an aid tracking toolcreated by the Kiel Institute. American weapons transfers to Kiev have also dwarfed those of Europe, nearly ten-fold. Washington has reportedly noticed the disparity, with US officials recently telling Bloomberg that the Joe Biden administration “has pressed Europe to do more” to support Ukraine and take on “more burden sharing.”

Talks on future aid from the EU will be held at an upcoming meeting in the German capital later this month, where Ustenko voiced hopes that member states will be convinced to speed up the process, saying “Berlin is going to be just the next step of these discussions.”

Washington – An official working for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) warned Donald Trump's legal team in May 2021 that the Archives was missing numerous records from the Trump White House that urgently needed to be returned, according to a letter released by the Archives on Monday following a Freedom of Information Act request.

On May 6, 2021, NARA general counsel Gary Stern wrote to a group of Trump attorneys, including Patrick Philbin and Michael Purpura, informing them that "roughly two dozen boxes of original Presidential records" from Trump's time in office that were once kept in the White House residence had yet to be returned to the Archives.

Other missing records included an "original correspondence" between Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and a letter then-president Barack Obama left for Trump during the 2017 presidential transition – a White House tradition – according to the letter.

Trump told New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman in an interview for her upcoming book "Confidence Man" that he has "great things" from his time at the White House, including the Kim letters, according to audio posted on CNN. When Haberman asked specifically about the Kim letters, Trump said "no, I think that has the … I think that's in the archives, but most of it is in the Archives. But the Kim Jong Un letters, we have incredible things. I have incredible letters with other leaders."

"We know things were very chaotic, as they always are in the course of a one-term transition," Stern wrote, "But it is absolutely necessary that we obtain and account for all original Presidential records."

"In mid-January 2022, NARA arranged for the transport from the Trump Mar-a-Lago property in Florida to the National Archives of 15 boxes that contained Presidential records, following discussions with President Trump's representatives in 2021," the Archives said in a statement weeks later, "Former President Trump's representatives have informed NARA that they are continuing to search for additional Presidential records that belong to the National Archives."

The matter of the missing records was referred to the Justice Department for investigation in February and according to NARA, the 15 boxes initially collected from Mar-a-Lago were given to the FBI by the Archives and President Biden in May, overruling numerous Trump objections.

Ofgem expects shortages in the country this winter

The UK may enter a gas supply emergency due to shortages this winter, according to energy regulator Ofgem.

Britain reportedly relies on gas-fired power plants for about 40% of its electricity supply, while roughly 8 in 10 UK households use gas to heat their homes. In case of a supply emergency, some gas-fired power plants and other big gas users might be cut off and have to halt operations. They would then face imbalance charges which could result in insolvency, both SSE and Ofgem warned. According to a recent report from The Guardian, around 30 energy suppliers have already collapsed over the past several months.

“Due to the war in Ukraine and gas shortages in Europe, there is a significant risk that gas shortages could occur during the winter 2022/23 in Great Britain. As a result, there is a possibility that GB could enter into a Gas Supply Emergency,” Ofgem said in a letterresponding to a request by energy generator SSE that the regulator should address the risk of possible insolvencies. The letter was first made public by The Times.

“Even if such an emergency does not occur, the risk that it could occur is likely to force generators to reduce their forward and day ahead trading, reducing liquidity in electricity markets, and raising costs for electricity consumers,” SSE stated in its request.

The UK’s energy market is connected to those of continental Europe and usually relies on gas and electricity imports through undersea pipelines and cables from the EU and Norway if shortfalls occur. However, recent events which caused Russia to stop supplying gas to the EU via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline heighten fears of supply shortages.

Some industry experts say shortages are unlikely, but warn that prices may spike further in the coming months. According to the latest Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy data, average UK electricity prices in 2021 were £18.9 per kilowatt-hour, but by the end of 2022, they are estimated to jump to £34.0/kWh.

South Korean military officials have reported that Beijing's planes violated Seoul’s air defense zone dozens of times last year

Chinese aircraft intruded on South Korea’s air defense zone without warning more than 70 times last year, military officials in Seoul have reportedly claimed.

The pace of Chinese violations of the Korea Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) was about the same as in 2020, Yonhap Newsreported on Monday, citing a document that the South Korean defense ministry submitted to the National Assembly. There were over 20 such violations by Russia in 2019, the media outlet claimed, without providing more recent figures.

The KADIZ was first drawn up by the US Air Force in 1951, during the Korean War. The zone extends beyond South Korea’s territorial air space, but Seoul requires pilots of foreign aircraft to identify themselves to prevent unintentional confrontations. For instance, Japanese planes enter the KADIZ about 500 times annually after giving notice to South Korean authorities.

While most intrusions pass without brouhaha, South Korea scrambles military jets in some cases to respond. For example, at least four Chinese and four Russian warplanes breached the KADIZ several times on May 24, prompting Seoul to send up fighter jets in response.

That incident occurred as US President Joe Biden was wrapping up his visit to the region. Russia and China held a joint military exercise that included flights by strategic bombers over the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea while Biden was in Japan. The South Korean military also scrambled fighter jets when Russian aircraft entered the KADIZ without warning in August.

The French president wants non-EU states to get on board with Brussels’ foreign policy

Russia has expressed skepticism about an upcoming gathering of European nations that, despite having a vague official purpose, appears to be aimed at countering Russian and Chinese influence on the continent.

“The creation of new blocs will certainly not foster stability and predictability or help to defuse the tense situation that we live in,”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

The official was speaking about the inaugural meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), which is slated for Thursday.The new French-proposed club is meant to bring together the 27 EU members and 17 nationsthat either aspire to join it or have traditionally close ties to it, such as Norway and the UK.

Although the idea was given a boost when UK Prime Minister Liz Truss agreed to participate in the first meeting, doubts reportedly remain about the viability of the project, which was originally proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The French president wants non-EU states to get on board with Brussels’ foreign policy

Russia has expressed skepticism about an upcoming gathering of European nations that, despite having a vague official purpose, appears to be aimed at countering Russian and Chinese influence on the continent.

“The creation of new blocs will certainly not foster stability and predictability or help to defuse the tense situation that we live in,”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

The official was speaking about the inaugural meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), which is slated for Thursday.The new French-proposed club is meant to bring together the 27 EU members and 17 nationsthat either aspire to join it or have traditionally close ties to it, such as Norway and the UK.

Although the idea was given a boost when UK Prime Minister Liz Truss agreed to participate in the first meeting, doubts reportedly remain about the viability of the project, which was originally proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Russia bans SoundCloud

Access to the platform has been blocked over “calls for massive civil unrest” and “extremist activities”

SoundCloud, one of the world’s largest music sharing and streaming services, has been blocked in Russia as of Saturday. The nation’s media regulator, Roskomnadzor, banned the platform following a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The platform ran afoul of Russia’s data protection law, according to information provided by Roskomnadzor. The platform violated a regulation that prohibits “calls for massive civil unrest, extremist activities,” and spreading “false information of public importance,” which could have grave consequences for public peace or people’s lives and health, the agency said.

The reason for the ban remains unclear. Neither Roskomnadzor nor the Prosecutor General’s Office has issued statements so far.

The Berlin-based music sharing and streaming service, which allows users to upload, promote, and share audio, has not commented on the ban either.

The Russian media watchdog has previously fined a number of Western tech companies multiple times for violating Russian law. In July, it imposed fines on US companies including Tinder, WhatsApp, and Snapchat over their refusal to comply with Russia’s data localization regulations. Roskomnadzor had previously reported that around 600 representative offices of foreign companies including Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, PayPal, Booking, and LG had localized the storage of Russian users’ personal data as required.

In March, Russia also banned Facebook and Instagram after designating their owner, US company Meta, as an extremist organization over its refusal to remove what Moscow considered to be false content about the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier this week, Roskomnadzor accused Apple of “discriminatory restrictions” over its removal of social media company VK’s apps from its App Store. The US tech giant responded by citing the need to comply with the sanctions on Russia, explaining that VK’s apps are distributed “by developers majority-owned or majority-controlled by one or more parties sanctioned by the UK government.”

Saudi prince claims immunity in Khashoggi lawsuit

Mohammed bin Salman’s lawyers argue he should not face charges after becoming Prime Minister

Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) should be considered immune from prosecution in the ongoing US lawsuit over the 2018 killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, his lawyers argued in court on Monday, according to Reuters.

The prince’s defense insists that a Royal Order given by his father, King Salman, designating him prime minister last week, entitles him to “status-based immunity”.

The lawyers urged the federal district court in Washington to dismiss the case entirely, noting that the US has done so in the past for foreign heads of state.

Khashoggi, a Saudi Arabian citizen, is believed to have been murdered and dismembered by Saudi agents in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October, 2018. US intelligence services said the order to kill the dissident journalist was given directly by MBS himself.

The prince has denied ordering the murder, while government officials, such as the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir, have suggested that the killing was a “rogue operation” carried out by individuals operating “outside the scope of their authority.”

MBS, however, has since acknowledged that Khashoiggi’s death happened “under my watch” and insisted that those responsible for the gruesome killing must be held to account.

The lawsuit against the Saudi prince was filed by Khasoggi’s fiance Hatice Cengiz and DAWN — a pro-democracy human rights group founded by the late columnist before he was killed. The case, which is being heard in a district court in Washington DC, seeks unspecified damages against the Crown prince and names 20 other Saudi nationals as co-defendants.

The court is now waiting for the US Justice Department to express its view on whether the prince has immunity after being named the Saudi Prime Minister. The Biden administration, however, has asked that the court proceedings be delayed for 45 days while it considers its stance on the matter.

It’s not really a secret anymore that the Left doesn’t believe in a level playing field, and that the woke vanguard is censorious, fascist, and unwilling to allow for the fair and open enunciation of opposing points of view. That’s why so many conservatives, including Donald Trump himself, have been banned from Twitter and Facebook, and that’s why Parler, Gettr, Gab and Truth Social exist at all: to give a voice to those who have been denied a platform for having views that don’t correspond to those of the political and media elites. But the censorship is even more far-reaching than that: on Monday, Fox News reported that “the Republican National Committee [RNC] says Google is suppressing get-out-the-vote [GOTV] and fundraising emails by sending millions of GOP election emails to users’ Gmail spam folders, with party leadership threatening to explore legal options to ‘put an end’ to what they call a ‘clear pattern of bias.’” Google, biased against conservatives? Why, the only people who could possibly be shocked by this are working for Mitt Romney and Adam Kinzinger.

RNC officials state that “emails being sent by the RNC to Republican subscribers who use Gmail accounts in the final days of each month are being sent to spam folders.” This is happening on a stunningly grand scale: “An RNC official told Fox News Digital that since Sept. 28, Gmail has ‘suppressed’ more than 22 million RNC emails—358,000 of which were GOTV emails.”

Google, however, professes to be shocked! — shocked! – by these charges. Why, everyone knows that Google is placid, gray, nonpartisan, and thoroughly businesslike! Politics? What’s that? Politics, says Google, has nothing, nothing whatsoever, to do with its decision about whether or not to mark a certain email as spam and send it to spam folders. Google spokesperson José Castañeda said mildly: “We enable political committees and other organizations to reach their constituents, donors, and key audiences via email. When Gmail users say that they don’t want to receive an email, we place the email in the spam folder, politics or political affiliation plays no role in this determination.” Yes, of course! That’s all it is. And I have a very, very fine bridge to sell you as well, at a price I think you’ll find eminently reasonable.

The numbers, however, belie Castañeda’s bland technocrat act. “On Sept. 28, Gmail spammed more than 3.1 million RNC emails. The next day, Gmail spammed more than 9.8 million RNC emails, and on Sept. 30, Gmail spammed more than 9.97 million RNC mails.” Those are some busy Leftist censors, and the RNC has complained to Google “for months,” according to one RNC official, but there has been “no resolution.”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel stated: “Every single month, like clockwork, Google suppresses important GOTV and fundraising emails at the end of the month, with zero explanation nor commitment from Google to resolve this issue. We are less than 40 days out from Election Day, and important GOTV emails to our opted-in voters in states that have already started early voting are being systematically sent to spam. Enough is enough. Big Tech bias is undermining the democratic process and the RNC is exploring our legal options to put an end to this clear pattern of bias.”

Nor is the same sort of spamlisting happening to Democrats. Fox notes that “during the 2020 election cycle, an RNC official said the study found that Gmail routed Republican emails to spam at a rate approximately 820% higher than similar Democrat fundraising appeals.” Republican officials now contend that Google’s “disproportionate suppression of Republican emails constitutes an illegal corporate contribution to Democrat candidates,” and they want a Federal Election Commission (FEC) investigation. With good reason: “the Republicans estimate they missed out on $1.5 billion in contributions during the 2020 election cycle” because of Google’s suppression of their emails.

If the Republicans get this FEC investigation, the question will then be whether it will be free and fair or whether it will be staffed by people who hold to the same political perspective as Google, and thus have no problem with the suppression of Republican speech. As the Left grows progressively more open about its authoritarianism and hostility to opposing points of view, ultimately Big Tech, including Google, is going to destroy the freedom of speech, or that freedom is going to be afforded new protections and the tech giants’ ability to infringe upon it will be restricted. It’s one or the other, and the very fate of our free republic hangs in the balance.

Israeli Pegasus returns to Mexico as concerns grow among dissidents

Despite the Mexican government's pledges claiming it will cease exploiting the contentious Pegasus spyware, an investigation on Sunday discovered that at least three human rights investigators' phones in Mexico had been breached by Israeli NSO's spyware Pegasus.

Manuel Lopez Obrador, who assumed office in 2018, swore to quit using the technology after a scandal emerged over its usage under his predecessor's presidency.

What is Pegasus? How does it function?

As a spyware, Pegasus, which has the capability to infect billions of phones running either iOS or Android operating systems, silently infiltrates your phone, takes hold of your data, and turns your device into a 24/7 surveillance unit.

It can copy all your messages, harvest your photos, and record your calls. It might even infiltrate your camera and microphone and secretly film you and eavesdrop on your conversations. It can also potentially pinpoint your location, anytime, anywhere.

For governments and spying agencies, the software is quite the dream come true, but for dissidents, journalists, and the general populace, Pegasus is a nightmare.

Mexico, Pegasus, and human rights activists

Two journalists and a human rights activist's phones were examined by researchers at Citizen Lab, a digital watchdog group at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. They discovered that the smartphones had been infected with Pegasus in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The three victims documented human rights violations allegedly committed by the Mexican armed forces and disclosed their findings in a report published by the Mexican group for digital rights advocacy known as R3D.

Requests for a response from the defense ministry and Lopez Obrador's team were not immediately fulfilled.

Unfolding since 2017

In 2021, Lopez Obrador declared that Mexico had "no longer any relation" with Mexico and at the time, Mexico's chief of financial crimes asserted that the government had not entered into any agreements with the firms that provided the software.

Citizen Lab had previously discovered the usage of the Pegasus spyware by the Mexican government during the administration of former President Enrique Pena Nieto in 2017. This raised concerns about the lengths to which government agents and officials would go in order to monitor activists, journalists, and politicians, especially those who were critical of the administration.

The future of Pegasus in Mexico

The new findings by Citizen Lab call for questioning Mexico's current president's intentions and allegations with regard to Pegasus. In other words, it raised questions as to whether or not Obrador has lived up to his pledge to put an end to a history of spying on opponents in Mexico.

Furthermore, as a result of the most recent discoveries, concerns regarding the difficulties faced by journalists and human rights advocates in a nation where they have frequently come under assault, grow.

Citizen Lab findings

According to Citizen Lab and R3D, Pegasus targeted activist Raymundo Ramos in August and September 2020. Ramos assisted victims of alleged military violations in the hostile northern border state of Tamaulipas.

Earlier, during an interview with Reuters, Ramos had noted that he has expected that the government was spying on him for a long time now. Since he knew of the findings, Ramos said he had been taking stricter measures to protect his privacy. That included having more in-person conversations and leaving his mobile phone in a separate location.

"I am on high alert," Ramos told Reuters, "This isn't just any hacker ... Someone has set their sights on you."

In October and November of 2019 as well as in December of 2020, Pegasus targeted journalist Ricardo Raphael's phone, according to the findings. Raphael is a journalist for the news agencies Proceso and Milenio. He is also a host on channel ADN40.

They also discovered one infected phone in 2021 belonging to a journalist at the Animal Politico news agency. The journalist preferred to remain anonymous.

A victim of Pegasus

Pegasus has also been used as a tool for murder. According to The Guardian, Cecilio Pineda Birto, a 38-year-old freelance reporter in Mexico, was shot dead on March 2, 2017. Prior to the incident, Pineda had received a number of anonymous death threats. At about the same time, his mobile phone number was selected as a possible target for surveillance by a Mexican client of the NSO Group spyware company. His attackers knew exactly where to find him, although his exact whereabouts were known to no one.

🦍📡🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥🔥👁👁🤬 Officials from three Canadian provinces have stated they do not plan to use their police resources to enforce a mandatory gun buyback program of “assault-style” firearms.

Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba this week informed officials with the Canadian federal government of their opposition to any such scheme, National Post reported.

In May 2020, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his government was enacting regulations to ban the sale, purchase or use of “military-grade assault weapons.”

The decree includes 1,500 models and variants in all. Trudeau said there would be a two-year amnesty period during which the government will set up a program to provide fair compensation to buy back the guns. The amnesty period will end on Oct. 20, 2023.

“The vast majority of gun owners use them safely, responsibly in accordance with the law, whether it be for work, sport shooting, for collecting or for hunting,” the prime minister acknowledged. “But you don’t need an AR-15 to bring down a deer.”

Assault-style firearms designed for military use have no place in Canada. By removing them from our streets, we will limit the devastating effects of gun-related violence and help make our country safer. Trudeau engaged in a straw-man argument, because while an AR-15 might not be necessary to shoot a deer, it can prove very helpful in exercising one’s God-given right to self-defense.

In a Monday letter to the provincial leader of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Alberta Justice Minister and Solicitor General Tyler Shandro wrote, “We are disturbed by reports that federal civil servants have decided to deploy the RCMP to confiscate firearms under the buyback program.”

“Alberta taxpayers pay over $750 million dollars per year to fund the RCMP as our provincial police service,” he added.

“We expect that those dollars not be wasted to pay for a confiscation program that will not increase public safety.”

National Post noted, “While the RCMP is a federal police force it provides contract policing to eight provinces and three territories with only Quebec and Ontario having their own provincial forces.”

The federal government covers 30 percent of the costs of the RCMP and the provinces cover the rest.

On Monday, Israeli media reported that "Lebanon is united over the maritime agreement, and "Israel" is divided."

In the details, the Israeli channel KAN said that "a country suffering from conflict and is politically divided, such as Lebanon, appears more united than Israel with regard to everything related to the issue of the dispute on the maritime borders."

Earlier, former Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters that Lapid is shamefully surrendering to the threats of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

According to Netanyahu, should the agreement with Lebanon be signed, Hezbollah would be "receiving Israel’s sovereign territory and a gas field worth billions of dollars" without any parliamentary debate and referendum.

"Lapid has no mandate to give sovereign territory and sovereign assets that belong to all of us to an enemy state," Netanyahu said.

The former Israeli PM reiterated that the agreement with Lebanon "is illegal and we won’t be obligated by it," in the event of returning to power after the November 1 election.

In response, Lapid tweeted that "I understand that it pains you that you didn’t succeed in achieving an agreement, but that is no reason to join Nasrallah’s propaganda campaign."

Lapid said that Netanyahu "hasn’t seen the agreement," claiming that it gives "Israel" "100% of its security needs, 100% of the Karish reserve, and even some of the profits from the Lebanon reserve."

Two days ago, a Lebanese source concerned with the demarcation negotiations confirmed to Al Mayadeen that "Lebanon obtained, in the written proposal it received from the Americans, all its demands," adding that "Lebanon has not and will not give Israel any security zone that it previously demanded."

This comes after Lebanon received the written response from the American mediator, Amos Hochstein, regarding the demarcation of its southern maritime borders, through the American ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea.

On his part, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also touched on the issue of the Lebanese maritime borders, saying that the importance of what is happening today is there is a written text from the mediating party that the President, Parliament Speaker, and the Prime Minister have received.

In turn, Israeli media said that the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, "succeeded in the battle of awareness in the negotiations to demarcate the maritime borders."

President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan will largely help borrowers whose salaries are in the top half of American incomes, according to a Monday analysis by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB).

Biden announced in August his plan to forgive $10,000 in student loans for individuals making less than $125,000 or families making less than $250,000, forgiving an additional $10,000 for individuals who received Pell Grants. The plan, though marketed by the Biden administration as support for low-to-middle class borrowers, will provide between 57% to 65% of benefits to individuals in the top 50% of income brackets, according to the analysis.

“The actual benefit is likely to be more regressive,” the report read.

The analysis found that the loan forgiveness plan will benefit high-income borrowers because many will be grandfathered in based on their reduced 2020 earnings, while many low-income buyers will be excluded due to a lack of resources.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates only 90% of those eligible will apply for loan forgiveness while the Department of Education only expects 81%. The disparity in loan applications is predicted to affect low-income borrowers who have fewer resources and less access to apply for the forgiveness, according to CRFB.

The method for determining the income of applicants is also flawed, the analysis argued, as the metrics used to qualify an applicant are based on 2020-2021 income statements, which may be lower for higher-income earners due to increased turnover in high-income jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Those in the top half of earnings receive a much larger share of the financial benefit of debt cancellation, since higher-income borrowers are more likely to pay back their loans in full and face higher average interest rates,” the study reported.

On Thursday, the Biden administration scaled back the student loan forgiveness plan to exclude loans from private lenders, accordingto ABC News. The plan’s reduction follows recent lawsuits against the Biden administration claiming he does not have the power to forgive debt.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

The Republican National Committee is accusing Google of suppressing their get-out-the-vote and fundraising emails.

According to the RNC, Gmail has suppressed over 22 million RNC emails.

They are exploring legal options.

Fox News reported:

The Republican National Committee says Google is suppressing get-out-the-vote and fundraising emails by sending millions of GOP election emails to users’ Gmail spam folders, with party leadership threatening to explore legal options to “put an end” to what they call a “clear pattern of bias.”

According to RNC officials, emails being sent by the RNC to Republican subscribers who use Gmail accounts in the final days of each month are being sent to spam folders.

An RNC official told Fox News Digital that since Sept. 28, Gmail has “suppressed” more than 22 million RNC emails—358,000 of which were GOTV emails.

The Strong Inbox Delivery rate falls from 90-100% to 0% at the end of the month.

RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said Google has given zero explanation as to why it is happening.

The Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas is in need of gender reassignment surgery medical services for its transgender inmates, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) a division of DOJ, Field Acquisition Office in Grand Prairie, Texas plans to make a single award to the “quoter who can provide the best value.”

The Federal Medical Center, Carswell is a federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas, for female inmates of all security levels, primarily with special medical and mental health needs.

The solicitation was launched on Thursday and quotes shall be received on or before the deadline of October 10, 2022.

“As an agency under the Executive Branch of the United States Government, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) receives an annual appropriation of funds to accomplish its assigned mission,” an entry in the solicitation read. “The public trust demands that this annual appropriation be prudently managed. The Government contemplates awarding a firm fixed-price contract via purchase order resulting from this solicitation. The FBOP desires a single award to the quoter who can provide the best value, considering the diversityof available services and price, among other criteria specified in the solicitation.

Therefore, the Government may award any or all line items, may withhold award of any or all line items, or may award to a quoter who quotes less than the full complement of services contained in this solicitation. Hundreds of Thousands of Americans Sought Medical Care After COVID-19 Vaccination: CDC Data

Hundreds of thousands of Americans sought medical care after getting a COVID-19 vaccine, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data released on Oct. 3.

Some 782,900 people reported seeking medical attention, emergency room care, and/or hospitalization following COVID-19 vaccination. Another 2.5 million people reported needing to miss school, work, or other normal activities as a result of a health event after getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

The reports were made to the CDC’s V-safe program, a new vaccine safety monitoring system to which users can report issues through smartphones.

The CDC released the data to the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) after being sued over not producing the data when asked by the nonprofit. ICAN posted a dashboard summarizing the data.

“It took numerous legal demands, appeals, and two lawsuits, and over a year, but the CDC finally capitulated and agreed to a court order requiring them to do what they should have done from day one, release the V-safe data to the public,” Aaron Siri, a lawyer representing ICAN in the case, told The Epoch Times in an email.

About 10 million people utilized V-safe during the period of time the data covers: Dec. 14, 2020, to July 31, 2022. About 231 million Americans received at least one vaccine doses during that time.

The V-safe users reported about 71 million symptoms.

The most commonly reported symptoms were chills (3.5 million), swelling (3.6 million), joint pain (4 million), muscle or body aches (7.8 million), headache (9.7 million), fatigue (12.7 million), and general pain (19.5 million).

About 4.2 million of the symptoms were of severe severity.

Users of V-safe filled in data for about 13,000 infants younger than two, reporting over 33,000 symptoms, including pain, loss of appetite, and irritability.

The data produced so far by the CDC does not include free-text responses, according to ICAN. The data covered fields where users checked boxes.

ICAN, founded by film producer Del Bigtree, said that the newly revealed data “reveals shocking information that should have caused the CDC to immediately shut down its COVID-19 vaccine program,” citing the percentage of people who reported needing to get care or missing school, work, or other normal activities, as well as the reported adverse events.

The CDC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

CDC researchers had presented summaries of the V-safe data during meetings with the agency’s vaccine advisory panel, but had not released the data for outside researchers to analyze. CDC researchers have said that V-safe raised no new safety concerns.

ICAN is going to keep pressing to obtain more of the V-safe data.

U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman, an Obama appointee overseeing the litigation, ordered the parties to meet and confer regarding what other data the group will seek following the CDC production.

The parties will then file a joint status report “that proposes any additional deadlines that the parties determine are necessary for the resolution of this matter,” Pitman said.

CDC Makes Sweeping Overhaul to Key COVID-19 Metric

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday made another sweeping change to one of its pandemic-era responses.

The federal health agency dropped its country-by-country COVID-19 travel health notices that it began issuing when COVID-19 started spreading in the United States in early 2020. Fewer countries are testing for the virus or reporting cases, making it more difficult to calculate travelers’ chances of contracting the virus, the CDC told news outlets.

It said that “as fewer countries are testing or reporting COVID-19 cases, CDC’s ability to accurately assess the COVID-19 (travel health notice) levels for most destinations that American travelers visit is limited.”

CDC spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund said that the health agency will only post a travel health notice for an individual country if a new variant emerges and if the CDC has to change travel recommendations for that country. The new change went into effect on Oct. 3.

As recently as March, the CDC recommended against travel to about 120 countries and territories worldwide, or more than half of all destinations.

The notices had deterred some Americans from travel and on occasion sparked consternation in some countries. A recommendation not to travel to Japan in May 2021, months before the Olympics, drew widespread attention.

The CDC is still recommending that travelers stay “up to date” on COVID-19 vaccines and follow recommendations found on its website. A travel page divides countries into several categories, including avoiding nonessential travel, enhanced precautions, and practicing usual precautions.

Other Rules Dropped

In early April, the CDC dropped a “do not travel” warning for about 90 separate countries and other locations due to COVID-19. That label will only be used for special circumstances, the agency said.

A federal judge in Florida issued a ruling on April 18 against the agency’s mask mandate for planes, trains, and buses. On June 10, the CDC ended its requirement that people who are flying to the United States have to provide a negative COVID-19 test before getting on a plane, although the agency still requires non-citizens traveling by air to show proof of vaccination.

The CDC in July ended its COVID-19 reporting program for cruise ships, prompting several operators to drop mask, vaccine, and testing requirements.

“While cruising poses some risk of COVID-19 transmission,” the CDC had said, adding that “CDC will continue to publish guidance to help cruise ships continue to provide a safer and healthier environment for crew, passengers, and communities going forward.”

The CDC under former President Donald Trump posted its first COVID-related travel warning for China in January 2020, drawing condemnation from his critics.

Vogue Editor Labels Kanye West’s ‘White Lives Matter’ T-Shirts as ‘Violent and Dangerous’

An editor for Vogue says Kanye West’s “White Lives Matter” t-shirts, which debuted at his “SZN9” Paris Fashion Week runway show, are “offensive, violent, and dangerous.”

On Monday, West debuted his latest Yeezy collection which included sweatshirts and t-shirts emblazoned with images of Pope Saint John Paul II on the front with large font that read “White Lives Matter” on the back.

West attended the show alongside conservative author and podcast host Candace Owens, each wearing a version of the t-shirt.

In response, Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson wrote on her Instagram that West’s “White Lives Matter” t-shirts were “offensive, violent, and dangerous” and called them “pure violence.”

“The t-shirts this man conceived, produced, and shared with the world are pure violence,” Karefa-Johnson wrote.

“There is no excuse, there is no art here,” Karefa-Johnson wrote. “I’m sorry I failed to make that clear — I thought I did. I do think if you asked Kanye, he’d say there was art, revolution, and all of the things in that t-shirt. There isn’t.”

“As we all work through the trauma of this moment, especially those of us who suffered in that room, let’s have some grace for one another,” Karefa-Johnson continued.

West immediately hit back at Karefa-Johnson, posting a photo of the Vogue editor with the caption “This is not a fashion person You speak on Ye Ima speak on you Ask Trevor Noah.”

In another post, West seemingly zoomed into Karefa-Johnson’s boots, suggesting in a caption that Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour would disapprove of her fashion choices.

In addition to Karefa-Johnson, the fashion establishment has had a collective meltdown following West’s latest collection. For the New York Times, fashion critic Vanessa Friedman wrote a piece blasting the collection with the headline “There Is No Excuse for Ye’s ‘White Lives Matter’ Shirt.”

British Vogue editor Edward Enninful also denounced the t-shirts as “inappropriate.”

Hospitals, Clinics Are Promoting Services To Gender-Nonconforming Kids. Here Are 47 Of Them.

Here is a list of 47 pediatric gender clinics in the U.S. advertising services for children who merely reject sex-based stereotypes, as highlighted by the left-wing Human Rights Campaign. A similar list was published in the peer-reviewed journal “Pediatric Annals,” titled “Resource List: Clinical Care Programs for Gender-Nonconforming Children and Adolescents.”

1. Phoenix Children’s Hospital

According to its Gender Support Program homepage, Phoenix Children’s Hospital treats “gender questioning” and “gender expansive” youth, who are described as “Children and youth who express a wider, more flexible range of gender identity and/or expression than typically associated with their sex assigned at birth.”

2. El Rio Community Health Center

El Rio Community Health Center’s Medical Home for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Youth in Tuscan, Arizona provides “gender affirming care” to the “Pediatric and Adult Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming communities as well as LGBTQ patients.”

3. University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital

The University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital’s Child and Adolescent Gender Center (UCSF) welcomes children as young as two, according to mental health director Diane Ehrensaft in a promotional video to potential patients and their families, who are described as “gender creative,” “gender diverse,” and “gender-expansive.” UCSF offers additional guidance on “Genderqueer, gender non-conforming, and gender nonbinary (GNB) people” who “do not live within the binary gender narrative,” and a guide to neopronouns and various identities including “gender blender” and “gender smoothie.”

4. Dimensions Clinic San Francisco Castro-Mission Health Center

The Dimensions Clinic offers free and low-cost healthcare to youth ages 12-25 “specifically to serve transgender and gender non-binary young people.” Dimensions Clinic suggested it assisted in concealing a child’s visit from parents by obscuring the billing information. A question archived from their FAQ asks “What if I have insurance through my parents and they don’t know I’m Queer/Trans?” and answers: “Billing would indicate you had a visit at the Castro-Mission Health Center, not Dimensions Clinic. We take steps to ensure confidentiality for all of our patients, please talk to us about your needs around discretion.” However, this may also apply to adults over 18 who are still on their parent’s insurance plan.

5. Oakland Medical Center

Pediatric Services in the Multi-Specialty Transitions (MST) Department at Oakland Medical Center offers “gender affirming care” for “transgender, gender expansive, and gender non-binary youth and their families.” MST explains its philosophy on its website, “We believe there is a broad range of gender identities and expressions and that gender diversity is healthy.”

6. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford

The Pediatric and Adolescent Gender Clinic at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Standford in Palo Alto, California “provides medical services for gender nonconforming youths and their families in one central location.” According to its “top surgery” page, double mastectomy surgery is marketed towards “teens” and “gives gender diverse youth solid footing for stepping out into the world.”

7. Santa Clara Valley Medical Center

The Gender Health Center (GHC) at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in California markets itself as “the first all ages clinic specialized in caring for transgender, gender-non-binary and gender expansive people in the South Bay.”

8. UCLA Gender Health Pediatric Care

The UCLA Gender Health Program’s pediatric practice provides “gender affirming” treatments for “children and adolescents who are transgender or gender-diverse.” UCLA offers its patients fertility preservation options, due to the sterilizing nature of the “gender affirming” treatments it offers.

9. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

The Center for Transyouth Health and Development (CTYHD) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is “dedicated to providing affirming care for transgender and gender diverse children, adolescents, young adults and their families.” According to its homepage, CTYHD “rejects the gatekeeper model of care and focuses on how to help our patients and families in the least restrictive environment possible.”

10. University of California Irvine Medical Center

The UCI Health Gender Diversity Program “offers Orange County’s only interdisciplinary program dedicated to caring for transgender and gender-expansive children, teens and adults.”
