CDC admits to giving misleading COVID-19 testing data. Several states have been making the same mistake.

'It's apples to oranges'

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admitted that it is combining viral and antibody tests when reporting its overall testing totals, a decision which scientists say paints an inaccurate picture of the state of the pandemic in America.

The test mix was first reported by NPR's WRLN station in Miami after a nationwide analysis found major discrepancies between state reports on testing and CDC reports.

"It's apples to oranges. The two tests measure two different things," said Mary Jo Trepka, a professor of epidemiology at Florida International University.

"You've got to be kidding me," said Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, in a report by The Atlantic. "How could the CDC make that mistake? This is a mess."

The Atlantic report also found that the CDC is not alone in making the mistake — Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, Vermont and other states have also been conflating the results of the two different types of tests. Virginia and Maine only recently stopped.

What exactly is the mistake?

Viral tests — also known as PCR tests due to a process known as polymerase chain reaction — are administered to discover whether someone has an acute, current infection of COVID-19. These tests are what public officials are referencing when confirmed cases are reported.

Antibody, or serology tests, on the other hand, measure whether or not an individual might have come into contact with COVID-19 in the past. They do this by testing an individual's blood to see if their immune system has developed antibodies in response to the disease.

CDC guidelines note that antibody tests are adequate for research but not for individual use, "i.e., to test people who want to know if they have been previously infected."

Why does it matter?

By conflating the results of the two tests, the CDC, along with several states, have been making it more difficult to understand the meaning of positive and negative tests.

"The viral testing is to understand how many people are getting infected, while antibody testing is like looking in the rearview mirror. The two tests are totally different signals," Jha added in The Atlantic report. He added that combining the results makes the date "uninterpretable."

The conflation also makes it more difficult to judge whether the country or an individual state has improved in their viral testing capacity, since results may be buffeted by the inclusion of antibody tests.

"If they are reporting the numbers of real time PCR tests, plus the number of serology tests together, it's hard to interpret and hard to know how many people are actually screened for an acute infection," added Trepka.

It's important to remember that the test results do not merely amount to a technical error, but have wide-ranging consequences for state and local leaders who make decisions on when to reopen their jurisdictions based on the data.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged madam of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, won a critical request on Friday to delay questioning in a civil suit filed against her on the grounds that her sworn testimony could incriminate her should there be a criminal case against her in the future.

"I'm permitting her not to respond to (written questions) and not to have her deposition," Magistrate Judge Debra Freeman said during her ruling. "Not forever, but at least long enough to let us know whether the claims process is likely to go forward."

Though Maxwell faces multiple lawsuits against her for her role in Epstein's alleged nefarious activities, Friday's ruling specifically dealt with a lawsuit filed by Annie Farmer.

Earlier this month, Maxwell's lawyer, Laura Menninger, asked the federal judge to stay Maxwell's deposition.

"The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York has publicly and repeatedly announced its 'ongoing' criminal investigation into alleged Epstein 'co-conspirators' on the same topic as (Farmer) alleges in this case," Menninger wrote to the court.

She added: "Denial of a stay, particularly a stay of Ms. Maxwell's deposition, pending outcome of the criminal investigation could impair her Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination, extend criminal discovery..., expose the defense's theory to the prosecution in advance of trial, or otherwise prejudice the criminal case."

Cop Arrested for Terrorizing and Sexually Grooming Little Girl He Stalked on Minecraft

Illustrating the sadistic and predatory nature of those who claim to “keep us safe,” for five years, Pasquale Salas terrorized a young girl he met on Minecraft. For much of that time Salas was a police officer. Not until he was caught in the act and arrested in 2019 did the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office fire him.

Last week, Salas pleaded guilty to federal charges of cyberstalking and sexual exploitation of a minor after prosecutors say he coerced a young girl into sending explicit videos and photos of herself to him and then threatening harm to she and her family once she tried to break it off.

The girl, whose name is being withheld because she was a minor and a victim of abuse which is sexual in nature, said the online relationship with the police officer started when she met him on Minecraft in 2014. Salas coerced her into sending him nude pictures of herself. She did. And then he threatened to release those photos to friends and family should she ever try and get out of the cyber-affair.

That all ended in 2019 when she at age 17 told police investigators what Salas was doing to her. The investigation began in Massachusetts where the teen lived and led authorities to Texas where Salas was protecting and serving the public in Matagorda County. According to MassLive:

Salas and the girl began exchanging messages in private chat rooms via Skype and Shapchat and also text-messaged one another. During their conversations, authorities said, Salas repeatedly coerced the girl to send explicit photos and videos of herself. The girl sent Salas hundreds of sexually explicit videos and images of herself at his request. Authorities said he also sent sexually explicit images of himself to her as they communicated on Minecraft.

When investigators started combing through Salas’ digital records they uncovered 1700 calls in one year alone between the cop and the victim he’d been grooming online. He not only controlled her mentally and emotionally but he also had control of her social media accounts. In exchange for her sexually explicit nude photos Salas compensated her:

Salas sent the girl jewelry, Edible Arrangements, iTunes gift cards and gave her access to his Amazon Prime account, court records said.

There were consequences for not fully obeying the officer’s commands too.

A quick look on the scope shows 4 possible targets with tracks that seem to correlate to the last known courses of the five Iranian tankers the Boatfag team has had under observation for the past few days. Cap shows these 4 tankers.

An analysis to generate the tankers' estimated positions was done a couple of days ago based on last known information. While it's an estimate based partly on guess-work (a little bit like doing ASW from a surface ship), those estimates are fairly solid assuming the target acts the way you expect it to act. In this case, we know two of the tankers took more southerly initial courses out of Gibraltar down the West African coast near the Canary Islands, and if they continue on that track they will have to take a bit more west-south-westerly track to make the run to Venezuela. That being said, they will probably be the later arrivals (if that is the case) due to distances traveled. The other three tankers were on a more directly southwesterly course to Venezuela when tracking was lost.

Assuming we're not being deked by Rouhani, his statement that the Iranian tankers are going "through the Carribean" and the "first should be arriving in Venezuelan territorial waters on Sunday'' mostly matches up with the estimate, with potentially the earliest pick up of their lead ship either later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Assuming no changes in courses or speeds, the ships should arrive on the scope around Venezuela in the following order:

1. Fortune (tonite or tomorrow)

2. Forest (Tuesday)

3. Petunia (Wed-Thur)

4. Faxon (Wed-Thur)

5. Clavel (Fri-Sat)

No guarantees that all of them will transit through the Windward Islands, it is possible that two of them will come in a more westerly course below Trinidad & Tobago.

iAero Boeing 737-800 lands at the San Diego Airport with part of its vertical stabilizer missing ‘during the flight while the crew was unaware of the damage’

A Boeing airplane was reportedly seen landing in San Diego International Airport with parts of its tail and the flight crew was reportedly unaware.

On Tuesday, an iAero Airways Boeing 737-800 flight took off from Southern California Logistics Airport, or Victorville, at 3:14pm and arrived at the San Diego airport at 3:55pm.

Although no unusual incidents were reported during the brief flight, aviation enthusiast Doug Kempf revealed the plane's vertical stabilizer was partially broken by the time it landed.

Kempf shared photos of the Boeing 737-800, a registered N820TJ model built 22 years ago, to Twitter on Wednesday.

Yesterday I posted the photo on the left of N820TJ landing in San Diego with parts of its tail missing,' he wrote.

He added that another user sent him an additional photo and claimed that the damage occurred while in flight. The crew was reportedly unaware.

A second user named Menno Swart also shared photos of the Boeing plane with the caption, 'What is wrong with this picture?'

ANOTHER 42 MILES: $1.3 Billion Contract For Border Wall Awarded

A North Dakota company won a $1.3 billion bid to build another 42 miles of President Trump’s wall on the U.S.-Mexico border — the largest border wall contract ever awarded at more than $30 million per mile.

Fisher Sand & Gravel Company was awarded the $1.275 billion contract on May 6, an Army Corps of Engineers spokesperson told CBS News‘ David Martin.

“Republican U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota confirmed the $1.3 billion contract for building the 42-mile section of wall through “really tough terrain in the mountains” in Arizona. That’s about $30 million per mile,” the Associated Press reported.

Trump has promised to build 450 miles of wall along the border with Mexico by the end of the year. So far, the government has awarded millions of dollars in contracts for construction of 30-foot-tall barriers, along with new lighting, technology and infrastructure. The Trump administration says it has already built 187 miles of wall. Some of it is new, but most is replacing old, much shorter barriers that officials say were not sufficient.

The massive fence will be painted black because “that’s what the president wanted, plain and simple,” Cramer said. Such a fence will absorb heat, making it far more difficult to climb. “Plus, it won’t be an ugly, rusty thing that everyone is putting up now.”

Back in April 2019, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) released drone footage of a “new border wall system” being installed near San Luis, Arizona, a site where foreigners have been seen pouring into America.

“CBP has constructed over 60 miles of new border wall system along the SW border since 2017 and expects to complete 450 miles by the end of 2020,” the Border Patrol said in a post on Twitter.

The new section is triple-layered enforcement zone that employs an 18’ bollard wall, the agency said. “Illegal border crossings in San Luis, AZ, in 2005 versus the same location today: In 2005, 10’ landing mat failed to impede and deny illegal entries. Today, CBP has a triple layered enforcement zone which includes an 18’ bollard wall,” the CBP said on Twitter.

More than 1,300 Veterans Given Hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19

Roughly 1,300 patients at Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities have received hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 since late March, according to VA Secretary Robert Wilkie.

In a letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, this week, Wilkie said that, between Feb. 1 and April 23, the VA purchased more than 6.3 million tablets of the antimalarial drug, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in late March on an emergency use basis to treat the novel coronavirus.

Hydroxychloroquine is normally used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and the VA dispenses roughly 1 million pills of it a month for those conditions, according to Wilkie.

The secretary said the VA purchased such a vast amount to ensure that it had a sufficient supply for patients with those diseases, as well as those with COVID-19.

"During this tracked time period, VA used about 18,000 of the tablets for COVID-19, which equates to .28%," he wrote.

Wilkie's letter was a response to Schumer's request May 10 that the VA explain its bulk purchases of the medication and use to treat veterans with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Hydroxychloroquine has been widely touted as a treatment by President Donald Trump, who admitted this week that he has taken it as a prophylaxis to prevent infection.

Schumer said he and several veterans groups have concerns about the use of the medication on VA patients, many of whom are older and have underlying health conditions that make them more susceptible to the drug's most severe side effect, a disruption of regular heart rhythms.

"Veterans' groups remain deeply concerned that the VA has made large purchases of this drug and appears to have administered it to veterans despite the well-known, and in some cases, fatal risks," he wrote Wilkie.

Computer expert Dennis Montgomery developed software programs that could breach secure computer systems and collect massive amounts of data.

That system, THE HAMMER, according to the audio tapes, accessed the phone calls, emails and bank accounts of millions of ordinary Americans.

The tapes also reveal that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance court (FISA), Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, 156 other judges, members of Congress, and Donald J. Trump were targeted by the HAMMER.

One of the audio tapes made public by Federal Judge G. Murray Snow revealed that Brennan and Clapper particularly targeted and wiretapped Donald Trump a “zillion times.”

Andrew Weissmann to Part Ways With MSNBC Over Biden Fundraiser

He’s probably been promised a job by Biden

If NBC News legal analyst and former Robert Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weissmann participates in an upcoming fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, it would mean the end of his contract with the news network, the former special counsel investigator told the Washington Free Beacon.

"If the fundraiser goes forward, I’m withdrawing from MSNBC so I can be in compliance with their policy," Weissmann said in a Friday night phone interview, in reference to the network's policy that employees avoid activities "that may create the appearance of a conflict of interest."

Weissmann, who joined MSNBC as a legal analyst last November, said he notified the network of his plans to headline a June 2 fundraiser for Biden with the understanding that it was prohibited by his contract. "I knew what I was getting into and what the consequences would be," Weissmann said. "They wanted me to adhere to their policy."

An MSNBC spokesman confirmed that Weissmann notified the network of his plans to headline the fundraiser and that there was a mutual agreement that he would need to terminate his contract to proceed.

The Free Beacon reported on Friday afternoon that Weissmann’s political activity would put him in violation of the network’s longstanding employee policy on political activity. The policy prohibits employees from making political contributions or participating in any campaign event without prior approval from the president of NBC News.

Reports of Weissmann's involvement in the Biden campaign fundraiser gave fuel to supporters of President Donald Trump, who have long charged that Weissmann was biased against the president.

"It doesn’t get any swampier than this: trying to stage a partisan coup against the president and then raising money for his political opponent," said Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh.

The decision to overtly campaign for Biden comes shortly after it was announced that Weissmann would be rejoining law firm Jenner & Block, where he was a partner before he was hired by the Department of Justice in 2011. He will take over the firm's investigations division on July 1.

Amazon, Google, Microsoft Among US Companies Offering Internet Services To Blacklisted Surveillance Companies In China

Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and other U.S. entities have been accused of providing web services to blacklisted Chinese surveillance companies, according to a report Thursday. These firms were found to be using their technology to aid “China’s campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, and high-technology surveillance against Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other members of Muslim minority groups” and have been blacklisted from accessing American tech as of October 2018.

The report came from Top10VPN, a London-based outlet dedicated to researching privacy in the Internet Age. It found that these major companies, and some smaller U.S. firms, have been providing “essential web services” to these Chinese outfits, including website hosting email services, and authentication software.

“Through providing essential web services to these controversial companies, U.S. firms are playing a part in the proliferation of highly invasive surveillance products that have the potential to undermine human rights around the world,” said Simon Migliano, Top10VPN’s head of research.

Amazon and Google are specifically accused of providing services to blacklisted companies, Dahua Technology and Hikvision. Microsoft is allegedly providing services to two major A.I. startups, SenseTime and Megvii. Overall, Google was found to have supported the most companies at nine, followed by Amazon with seven, and Microsoft with four.

Alongside these tech juggernauts, smaller companies like GoDaddy, NortonLifeLock, Stackpath, and GeoTrust are among the other U.S. companies named in Top10VPN’s report. Twitter and Facebook were also mentioned for providing these blacklisted firms with content delivery systems.

These companies have been accused by the U.S. government of aiding the Chinese government in its detention of Muslim groups in Xinjiang, an autonomous region on China’s westernmost edge. Approximately 1.5 million Muslims have been held in detention camps and subjected to widely condemned human rights abuses. Some of these camps have reportedly even engaged in “re-education” therapies.

This week, House Democrats whose colleagues rushed to investigate President Donald Trump’s coronavirus response amid the ongoing pandemic once again refused to give the green light to an effort to investigate China’s lies and malfeasance regarding the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Democrats blocked the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis from investigating China’s malfeasance.

“Coronavirus Committee Dems won’t let us investigate China’s cover-up,” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) tweeted. “Why? – China’s lies caused global suffering & economic devastation – China undermined our efforts to combat the virus – China is reportedly trying to steal our vaccine research They must be held accountable.”

Republicans on the committee have repeatedly asked about opening an investigation into China. Lauren Fine, Scalise’s communications director, told PJ Media that in a hearing on Thursday, Republicans on the committee again asked about looking into China, and Democrats again refused them.

“It’s disappointing—but not surprising—that Congressional Democrats have harsher words for President Trump, rather than the Communist Chinese regime responsible for wreaking havoc against our citizens and the rest of the world,” Fine told PJ Media. “Republicans on the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis will continue to press for answers on the origins of this crisis and accountability from the Chinese government and World Health Organization for their deception, and would urge Democrats to put their personal vendetta against President Trump aside to join us in this effort.”

Indeed, the effort to block a China investigation seems predicated on the rush to blame Trump for the crisis and ignore the horrific abuses of the Chinese Communist Party. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), perhaps the central figure in Democrats’ impeachment of President Donald Trump, began circulating draft legislation to investigate Trump’s response to the coronavirus. He claimed the investigation is “not an exercise in casting blame or scoring political points,” but Republicans are naturally skeptical.

Mr. President:

Recent U.S. rhetoric and actions against Venezuela — most immediately regarding Iran’s shipping of gasoline desperately needed during the pandemic — puts the U.S. at risk of an outbreak of dangerous and almost certainly counterproductive hostilities, not only in the Caribbean, but also in waters closer to Iran. As five Iranian tankers approach Venezuela, with the first due to arrive Sunday, hardliners in both Washington and Iran would relish a chance to give a bloody nose to the other side, but it may not be that simple.

While the U.S. can invoke the Monroe Doctrine in Latin America, geography trumps doctrine. True, the U.S. holds the upper hand in the Caribbean. It does not have tactical advantage in the Persian Gulf — despite the formidable amount of U.S. weaponry already deployed in the area. We believe there is a good chance Iran will pick the Gulf as the place to retaliate for any quarantine or more warlike actions off Venezuela.

As former intelligence officers and other national security practitioners with many decades of experience, we understand the frustration your Administration feels as its “maximum pressure” campaign to remove Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro enters its 17th month without much progress. Our purpose is not to defend Maduro, whose economic performance has alienated many and compounded Venezuela’s problems. Rather, we wish to ensure that you are aware of the possible pitfalls of the general threatening to use “maximum pressure” and “all means necessary” to effect “regime change” in Venezuela. In our view, any U.S. attempt to interdict access of the Iranian ships to Venezuela will be widely seen as an act of war. It could conceivably lead to unprecedented retaliation in places as far away as the Persian Gulf — events that the U.S. will not be able to fully control.

Inside Venezuela, U.S. sanctions and other policies are inflicting significant suffering, and the threat to continue “maximum pressure” even during the pandemic has had a significant psychological impact. It has pushed many Venezuelans eager for change to close ranks with the government and blame mostly the U.S. for their troubles. Nationalism and fear of foreign intervention are strong drivers in countries like Venezuela. The Venezuelan economy was already a shambles due to government mismanagement and corruption. But blocking the country’s ability to sell oil, to access accounts and reserves overseas, and to engage in normal trade have had a devastating impact on the Venezuelan people — the more so as the corona virus takes its toll there.

Ignoring Warnings, Mich. AG Sued to RAISE Lake Level Ahead of Dam Break—to Protect Mussels

In her ongoing audition to be Joe Biden’s veep pick, Michigan Governess Gretchen Whitmer all but convicted a private dam owner for the disastrous floods that struck the middle of the state last Wednesday.

However, it wasn’t the dam company that was trying to save a few clams—it was Whitmer’s radical attorney general, Dana Nessel.

Nessel was suing the dam company to raise the lake level three feet in order to save mussels—both endangered and common—and in their response, the dam company cited safety as a reason for not doing so.

But to Dana Nessel, who is also suing to keep Michigan’s chilly Upper Peninsula from having a reliable source of propane, citing an imaginary concern over a pipeline across the Straits of Mackinac, people come second. A distant second.

As Michigan-based Bridge Magazine reports:

For decades, federal regulators demanded changes to the design of the Edenville Dam to make it more likely to withstand heavy rains and avoid flooding.

So when Michigan regulators assumed oversight of the dam in late 2018 after its owners lost their federal license to generate energy, they took action.

To protect mussels.

Three weeks before the 96-year-old dam failed this week amid heavy rains and caused the worst flood in Midland history, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel sued its owner, alleging it illegally lowered Wixom Lake in 2018 and 2019, killing “thousands if not millions, of freshwater mussels.”

“Defendants wrongfully exerted dominion over the freshwater mussels and caused their death which denies and is inconsistent with the state’s right to them,” state lawyers wrote in an April lawsuit.

“Exerted dominion”? Who are they suing, Adam? Eve? Wrong Eden, Dana.

Well, now they might need to enlist Noah.

The genesis of this dispute is complex, going back to the 1920s when private utilities were more common and the dams along the four manmade lakes in the Tittabawassee River were used as a primary power-generation source for the community. Friends with property there tell me there has been plenty of tension between the dam owner and residents since at least the 1990s.

But there is no denying certain basic facts—and another example of the priorities of environmentalists when it comes to human life.

The CEO and Board of Directors of Solazyme, a company the military paid $149 per gallon for "alternative" fuel, have donated more than $300,000 to Democratic candidates and committees, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

Recipients of significant donations included the Obama Victory Fund and the Democratic National Committee. Additionally, Solazyme donated between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

A Congressional Research Service (CRS) report found that the Department of Defense (DOD) paid Solazyme $149 per gallon for fuel made of algal oil, costing taxpayers a total of $223,500 in 2009. The group also received a $21 million stimulus grant from Department of Energy in 2009.

"Based in South San Francisco, Solazyme’s mission is to improve our lives and our planet by producing sustainable, high-performance oils and ingredients derived from microalgae," the company states. Solazyme claims that their process serves as a better alternative to limited resources such as petroleum, vegetable oils, and animal fats.

Three members of Solazyme’s Board of Directors have donated hundreds of thousands to Dems, which include more than $50,000 in donations that benefited President Obama.

Solazyme’s co-founders, Jonathan Wolfson and Harrison Dillon, have together donated more than $7,000 to Democratic candidates and committees.

A member of Solazyme’s management team, Peter Licari, donated to both Republicans and Democrats before he was employed by Solazyme. Licari donated $16,000 to Republicans and more than $25,000 to Democrats while he was employed by Complete Healthcare Resources.

"Solazyme has been propelled over the years by an extraordinary group of people," states Wolfson. "Our employees, customers, partners and investors have been and will continue to be our greatest resources."

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Cal), the House Intelligence Committee chairman sent a letter to Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell asking him to declassify transcripts of Michael Flynn’s phone calls with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and any reports summarizing their calls.

The Intelligence Community (“IC”) protects the identities of Americans who are referenced in intelligence obtained from lawful collection against authorized foreign targets that it disseminates to its customers through intelligence reports. IC elements do so by “masking” the U.S. person information in the intelligence report in a manner that protects those U.S. persons’ privacy. U.S. officials who are authorized recipients of these intelligence reports and who are charged with protecting national security may request, through a standardized process and with an appropriate and validated justification, the underlying U.S. person information that has been replaced by a generic descriptor (such as “U.S. person 1 “). The IC elements review those requests to validate the requester’s need to know this sensitive information before releasing that U.S. person information to the requester.

As you must now be aware, authorized U.S. officials make these requests so they can better understand specific intelligence reports and properly evaluate threats to our national security. The established procedures for doing so safeguard the privacy of Americans, while at the same time enabling U.S. officials to protect national security by requesting the U.S. person information that reveals who may be in harm’s way, who may be engaged in acts that threaten the country, or who, wittingly or unwittingly, may be acting to further the interests of foreign adversaries and, therefore, pose a counterintelligence risk or threat.

In late 2016 and early 2017, as the scope of Russia’s sweeping and systemic interference in our election was coming into focus, dozens of officials from across the U.S. government were briefed on intelligence reports on foreign actors that contained masked U.S. person information. As the list you declassified shows, these officials, either directly or through their IC briefers, submitted requests to understand who the U.S. person or persons were who were referenced in these reports on foreign targets. The masked U.S. persons referenced in these reports were revealed to be Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Michael Flynn, who served as an advisor to candidate and then President-elect Donald Trump–even as Lt. Gen. Flynn was working as an unregistered agent of a foreign government seeking to influence U.S. policy through at least mid-November 2016. National Security Agency (“NSA”) Director General Paul Nakasone’s May 4, 2020 response to your request, which you declassified, confirmed that each of the U.S. officials who requested the masked U.S. person information was “an authorized recipient of the original report” and the requests to reveal the masked U.S. person information were “approved through NSA’s standard process, which includes a review of the justification for the request.”

The Job Creators Network, a group representing small businesses, sponsored a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday calling for pandemic restrictions to be eased.

Formatted as a letter to top government infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, the letter concludes that the group fears his "limited view is causing too much unneeded pain."

The ad, a “six-figure investment,” according to Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of JCN, is the first in a multimillion-dollar campaign aimed at reassuring the public that the economy can safely reopen.

“We're concerned about the country and fear that extending the shutdown will destroy the economy and have unanticipated negative health consequences for millions. We also want to reassure Americans that as states start to reopen, there are ways people can safely and smartly come out of their homes,” Ortiz said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.

The ad, calling for a "second opinion" besides Fauci's, features Dr. Scott Atlas, the former chief of neuroradiology at Stanford University, who is quoted saying, “With sensible precautions and sanitization standards, most workplaces and businesses should reopen.”

It also notes that under an economic shutdown, elective and preventative procedures don’t always occur, which can have serious and sometimes life-threatening consequences for patients.

In addition, the ad stresses that economic crises can take a toll on mental health.

To open the economy, the ad calls for “strategic testing, tracing, and smart business innovations” to “isolate the few to protect the many instead of isolating the many to protect the few.”

The JCN is a nonpartisan organization that began in January 2014 and was founded by entrepreneurs like Home Depot Inc. co-founder Bernard Marcus.

A coalition of groups on both sides of the political map will hold demonstrations outside the Jerusalem District Court, supporting and opposing Netanyahu.

Several ministers and MKs will join Netanyahu at the court, including Likud ministers Amir Ohana, Miri Regev and Tzachi Hanegbi.

After weeks of butting heads with the Trump administration over pandemic guidance, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued guidance on Friday for the reopening of religious institutions.

"Gathering together for worship is at the heart of many faith traditions," reads a statement from the CDC.

"Because there are several published reports of COVID-19 outbreaks sparked by large gatherings, both non-religious and religious in nature, the recommendations released today will help guide faith communities while respecting their fundamental right to gather for worship."

Recommendations include;

Encouraging staff and congregants to wash their hands with soap and water

Providing hand sanitizer

No-touch trash cans

Encouraging the use of cloth masks

"Suspending or at least decreasing use of a choir/musical ensembles and congregant singing, chanting, or reciting during services,"

Daily disinfection

Social distancing

Limiting the sharing of objects such as books and hymnals

Identify an area to quarantine people with COVID-19 symptoms

If someone in a congregation is diagnosed with COVID-19, perform contact tracing and inform anyone with exposure to the person to stay home and self-monitor

Close off any area used by a sick person and do not use until it has been disinfected - which should be performed at least 24 hours later.

Designate a staff member to handle COVID-19 concerns

The revised guidance comes after President Trump told a Michigan roundtable on Thursday "I said, 'You better put it out,'" - one day before calling an impromptu press conference where he announced that places of worship would be deemed "essential," and called for their reopening.

Trump said that he would "override" governors who keep places of worship closed.

The state of Washington just openly admitted that it lost “hundreds of millions” of taxpayer dollars in a massive fraud scandal. A group of Nigerian scammers successfully exploited the state’s system as it became the first to enact the $2.2 trillion CARES Act’s massive expansion of unemployment benefits and eligibility.

The Seattle Times reports:

"The legislation not only boosted benefits available under existing state unemployment insurance systems, including an extra $600 per week; it also gave state officials less time to verify new claims for those benefits. [State government] officials have acknowledged that, because of the elimination of the so-called waiting week between the time a claim is filed and the time the benefit is paid, the agency wasn’t always able to get verification from employers about a claim before payment was made.

"Furthermore, because federal benefits were technically available beginning in March, several weeks before Washington was able to upgrade its processing system to be able to pay them, many claimants had retroactive claims for multiple weeks waiting to be paid in the [state government’s] system. Those retroactive payments went out all at once, which added to the volume of the fraud."

That’s right: The state government started handing out taxpayer cash without verifying payments with employers and without a waiting period.

And sadly, this is just the beginning. The Secret Service suspects similar attacks have occurred in Florida, Wyoming, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Oklahoma. It will be interesting to see, when the crisis has passed and we can fully account for all the waste and fraud in retrospect, how many billions of taxpayer dollars such attacks cost.

Of course, only an anarchist would argue that no government response was needed to the coronavirus crisis and ensuing economic downturn. But any response relying on 1,000-page relief bills and bloated state agencies was always going to result in rampant waste and fraud.

Carrie Severino: Far-left Obama-appointed judge launches political attack on conservative Federalist Society

U.S. District Judge John McConnell is an unabashed liberal, big donor to the Democratic Party, and a longtime friend of Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a far-left Democrat from the judge’s home state of Rhode Island. McConnell owes his job to Whitehouse, who asked President Barack Obama to nominate him to become a federal judge.

A recent CQ Roll Call investigation showed that McConnell gave about $500,000 to Democratic political committees before becoming a judge – more than any other judge nominated by Presidents Obama or Trump.

Why should you care? Because McConnell sits on the Committee on Codes of Conduct of the U.S. Judicial Conference. The committee sets ethical guidelines for federal judges and recently proposed barring these judges from membership in the Federalist Society, a network of conservative and libertarian law students and lawyers.

While the Committee on Codes of Conduct wants to keep federal judges from joining the Federalist Society, which does not lobby or take positions on issues, it has no problem with their membership in the liberal American Bar Association, which does.

The draft advisory opinion by the committee has been portrayed by its cheerleaders – Sen. Whitehouse being the most prominent – as a high-minded effort to remove politics from the courts. This sounds like a noble idea on its face. But the reality is that everything about the behind-the-scenes effort to implement the draft to bar judges from membership in the Federalist Society has been partisan and unseemly.

To say that Whitehouse has been obsessed with attacking the Federalist Society would be an understatement. For years he has been on a one-man mission to delegitimize the Federalist Society and its co-chairman, Leonard Leo.

So it was no surprise when last week Whitehouse led six other Democratic senators in penning a letter enthusiastically endorsing the draft advisory opinion seeking to keep judges from belonging to the Federalist Society.

Whitehouse’s buddy, Judge McConnell, is a key player in the effort to ban federal judges from being members of the society.

This propaganda show of force comes as the regime of dictatorial President Nicolas Maduro has pledged to escort five Iranian tankers carrying approximately 1.5 million barrels of gasoline safely into port in Venezuela, vowing to block any attempts by the United States to seize the ships on the high seas.

Ship spotters, using online tracking software, had already noticed the Venezuelan Navy's AB Los Roques, a Dutch-built Damen Stan Lander 5612 logistics support craft, make a curious trip to the island on May 18 under escort from the first-in-class patrol boat AB Guaiqueri.

The Los Roques has a landing craft style drop-down ramp at the bow and a large open cargo area in the middle that could easily accommodate heavy military vehicles, such as the Buk-M2E, BM-21, and BM-30. That the Venezuelans sent the Guaiqueri along to escort it makes it even more likely that it delivered these vehicles to La Orchila for this snap exercise.

This show of force appears to be very limited and it's unclear how these forces might at all contribute to deterring any attempt to detain the Iranian tankers heading toward the country. La Orchila, which has served primarily as a presidential retreat in recent years, is around 100 miles northeast of Venezuela's capital Caracas and has no facilities on it for the tankers to offload their fuel there. It is home to a small military outpost with a single runway and limited dock facilities, which you can read about more in this past War Zone piece."

Further Dig into Whois, using address listed on the account:

DDG shows this address belonging to Tucows, so it would appear that Tucows is running these domains for Google, LLC. In addition another domain search was done at Whoxy (Canadian whois style site), this confirms original information as well as provides other keyword similar named Winred sites also owned by Google LLC.

Joe Scarborough spun the media to print HIS version of intern Lori Klausutis’s death, pushing fake news about her underlying health problems.

A botched medical investigation was performed by corrupt Doctor Michael Berkland, who parroted Scarborough’s narrative. Years later Berkland was busted for illegally storing human body parts, and let off without conviction.

Lori Klausutis’s family have always denied ALL claims of “underlying health problems”

Dr Berkland himself turned out to be running a house of horrors and in September 2012 he was busted for illegally stored body parts, tissue samples, organs, and brains, being kept in freezers in an industrial lock-up he was renting. Therefore we know for a fact that Berkland was corrupt when caught 11 years after Lori’s death. Despite this, according to the Daily Mail, he was let off without charges!

Berkland’s murky past also stretches to before Lori’s death. “Discovering Death” cites that in 1998 his licence was suspended for dodgy autopsy practices: he was re-instated on the personal intervention of Jeb Bush. So at the time of Lori’s death he already owed big favours to powerful Republicans.

It was Scarborough himself who was writing the “official narrative” being pumped over the airwaves just hours after Lori was found! HE was the source of the claims about her health.

'Within three hours” means that by 11am Scarborough was banging down the line to the local ABC affiliate dictating to them the faked-up story about Lori’s “complicated” health that her family has always refuted. The same story Dr Berkland relied upon to try and explain why a head wound and blood on a desk isn’t murder.

Boatfag Report

As predicted, the Iranian tanker Fortune has appeared in international waters about 50 nm north of the northern Venezuelan coast. She has passed Trinidad and Tobago, on a west-southwesterly heading at 15 kts. Her port of call remains unknown but she is likely to enter the internationally recognized 12-mile limit for Venezuelan territorial waters within the next 12 hours. Estimated port of call is most likely Puerto La Cruz. Venezuela has several ports where tankers can offload/onload including the Jose terminal at Caracas, but judging from the current tanker traffic the working tanker terminals are Puerto La Cruz and Puerto Cabello.

Puerto La Cruz is closer, and if I was the Iranian skipper I would want to get inside Venezuelan waters as quickly as possible. Going all the way to Puerto Cabello takes Fortune back into international waters.

A check for the remaining for inbound tankers does not have them within coastal AIS range yet, so no joy on sighting them.

Republican stronghold gives kid-glove treatment to local U.S. Congressman Joe Scarborough

When this story first broke in the Florida panhandle, we wondered if we were in store for some Gary Condit-style media coverage. Needless to say, this story never made national TV. The big boys of broadcast had their sights set solely on Condit and had no time to cover the unusual death of a healthy, politically active 28-year-old female aide in a U.S. Congressman's district office.

The so-called Liberal national media quite the opposite in this instance as in so many others felt it was more important to keep plucking feathers from their latest Democrat goose than to ruffle the feathers of a Republican Congressman who unexpectedly resigned just a few months after being reelected. Now an aide had been found dead in his office, but the national news media simply weren't interested.

After all was said and done, a few things became quite clear. The authorities, mainly the police who investigated the scene, gave the appearance of a cover-up by immediately stating that there were no signs of foul play. It subsequently was revealed that the dead woman had a wound to her forehead, which seemed to fly in the face of the initial statements by investigators. If this wasn't an example of poor police work, it most certainly was a case of bumbled media and public relations.

How could police rule out foul play until they knew the cause of the wound, before an autopsy was conducted and toxicology tests performed?

The local newspaper, the Northwest Florida Daily News, tried to get information from local authorities and claimed they were sandbagged at every turn . No one suggested that the Congressman had anything to do with the death, but the manner in which authorities handled the press shows one thing. They gave the benefit of the doubt to the popular Republican Congressman, and it is doubtful they would have done the same for any ordinary Joe.

"The body of lawmaker Valerii Davydenko was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head," Gerashchenko wrote in a Facebook post, adding that police and prosecutors would investigate all possible reasons behind the death.

The body was found in the toilet of Davydenko's office.

From May 2013 to March 2014, Davydenko was Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. He ran as an independent in last year's parliamentary election.

Big government fail: Washington state unemployment fraud loses ‘hundreds of millions'

The state of Washington just openly admitted that it lost “hundreds of millions” of taxpayer dollars in a massive fraud scandal. A group of Nigerian scammers successfully exploited the state’s system as it became the first to enact the $2.2 trillion CARES Act’s massive expansion of unemployment benefits and eligibility.

The Seattle Times reports:

"The legislation not only boosted benefits available under existing state unemployment insurance systems, including an extra $600 per week; it also gave state officials less time to verify new claims for those benefits. [State government] officials have acknowledged that, because of the elimination of the so-called waiting week between the time a claim is filed and the time the benefit is paid, the agency wasn’t always able to get verification from employers about a claim before payment was made.

"Furthermore, because federal benefits were technically available beginning in March, several weeks before Washington was able to upgrade its processing system to be able to pay them, many claimants had retroactive claims for multiple weeks waiting to be paid in the [state government’s] system. Those retroactive payments went out all at once, which added to the volume of the fraud."

That’s right: The state government started handing out taxpayer cash without verifying payments with employers and without a waiting period.

And sadly, this is just the beginning. The Secret Service suspects similar attacks have occurred in Florida, Wyoming, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Oklahoma. It will be interesting to see, when the crisis has passed and we can fully account for all the waste and fraud in retrospect, how many billions of taxpayer dollars such attacks cost.

Of course, only an anarchist would argue that no government response was needed to the coronavirus crisis and ensuing economic downturn. But any response relying on 1,000-page relief bills and bloated state agencies was always going to result in rampant waste and fraud.

Longtime American Red Cross executive Donna Morrissey dies of COVID-19

American Red Cross executive Donna Morrissey died due to complications of the coronavirus on Friday at the age of 51.

Morrissey, a native of Newton, worked at the American Red Cross for 17 years as its director of communications for the Northeast Division. She was also the director of national partnerships for American Red Cross Biomedical Services at the time of her death.

“Donna was a dedicated, kind and talented humanitarian who, over her many years with our organization, worked daily to encourage the need for lifesaving blood donations while also deploying to numerous large-scale disasters and mass casualty events including Superstorm Sandy, Sandy Hook, the Boston Marathon bombing, the Pulse Nightclub shooting, and Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, to name a few,” the American Red Cross said in a statement. “She never hesitated to do whatever she could to help those in need during their most devastating moments, whether that was a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on.”

Oregon Supreme Court to Baker County judge: Throw out injunction against governor’s emergency coronavirus orders by Tues., or explain why not

The Oregon Supreme Court on Saturday issued a deadline to the Baker County judge who this week granted a preliminary injunction nullifying Oregon governor’s emergency coronavirus orders:

Either throw out the injunction by 5 p.m. Tuesday or explain why he should not do so.

If Baker County Judge Matthew B. Shirtcliff doesn’t alter his ruling that found Gov. Kate Brown’s executive orders restricting social gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic "null and void,'' the state’s high court then will accept additional briefings on the issue.

The final briefing would be due June 2.

On Monday night, the state Supreme Court stepped in to put a hold on a dramatic decision by the eastern Oregon judge that declared not only the governor’s restrictions on church gatherings “null and void” but all her “Stay Home Save Lives’’ coronavirus emergency orders.

The state’s high court has now issued what’s called an alternative writ of mandamus. If the Baker County judge doesn’t withdraw his injunction, the state’s high court asked for further legal briefs on the question of whether the trial court should be ordered to dismiss it.

Shirtcliff had ruled earlier Monday that the governor’s executive orders in response to the global pandemic exceeded a 28-day limit adopted by state lawmakers and were no longer valid in response to a suit filed by 10 churches, the non-profit Pacific Justice Institute and 21 others against the governor.

The governor’s office appealed to the Oregon Supreme Court to keep her emergency orders in effect, arguing that Shirtcliff overstepped his authority and his legal reasoning was flawed.

Largest rally at the Capitol yet, protestors demand California be reopened

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Memorial Day weekend brought the largest protest against the statewide shutdown at the Capitol so far.

A crowd of people gathered on 10th Street for what organizers called “Liberty Fest.” The protesters want California to follow the lead of other states that have reopened businesses and ease social distancing restrictions.

Honking pickup trucks circled the Capitol as a plane flew overhead, pulling a sign with the message: ‘End His Tyranny!’ aimed at Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The rally at times felt more like a block party as the street was lined with protestors, food trucks and porta potties.

While Trump flags were on fully display, masks were not. People said they are not afraid of the coronavirus and it is time for the state to reopen. Adam Blancarte drove seven hours overnight from Riverside County to say so.

“I went to my grandmother’s house the other day, she couldn’t even hug me. She was nothing but fear,” Blancarte said. “I went to my church with the pastor that married me, and he’s got a mask on and gloves on and he’s sitting in fear.”

Others came from out of state. Pam Hemphill said she was requested to travel to California for the protest from her home in Boise, Idaho.

“We got a group of us together, it’s called the ‘People’s Movement,’ where if you’re in trouble and they’re stepping on your First Amendment rights or any of your Constitutional rights, we will come to your aid,” Hemphill said. “You just call us and you’ll get 1,000 people there to help you.”

One of the groups that organized the event is Freedom Angels. The group was originally formed to protest vaccinations. Recently, it has pivoted its target to the state shutdown by organizing several protests at the Capitol.

An organization spokeswoman said they paid to charter two buses to bring people up from Southern California. Naomi Soria was one of those passengers.

“Freedom is non-partisan. Whether you’re Republican, Democrat, Conservative, we can all agree at the end of the day, race aside, religion aside, freedom is non-partisan,” Soria said.

Some people from the Sacramento area said they came on their own because they are out of work.

“I was unable to take a job because it was considered non-essential which I think it’s wrong because it’s my job, it’s essential to me,” said Gayle Barrett from Lockeford.

Jim Edmonds came to the rally because he said the statewide order shut down his once thriving bounce house business in Roseville.

“I was just in total depression. I’ve never been depressed,” Edmonds said. “I have people that count on me. And I had to lay them off. That hurts worse than anything.”

The protest remained peaceful as officers stood watch. Sacramento Police and the California Highway Patrol said there was not a permit for the event.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, permits are denied for the health & safety of all involved,” CHP said.

Klausutis’ death not suspicious

The medical examiner said he is waiting to rule on the death until blood test results are finished.

The medical examiner investigating the death of Lori Klausutis said Saturday there is absolutely no evidence that the 28-year-old employee of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough was a victim of “foul play.”

Associate Medical Exam-iner Dr. Michael Berkland will announce how Klausutis died on Wednesday. He is waiting for blood test results and is continuing his investigation into her medical history.

“It would be foolish for me to release the cause of death without the toxicology results in my hand because that one little piece of the puzzle can make all the difference in the investigation,” said Berkland, who completed an autopsy on Klausutis’ body Saturday.

“But there is still no suspicion of foul play.”

Klausutis, of Niceville, was found dead on the floor of Scarborough’s Fort Walton Beach branch office at about 8 a.m. Friday when a couple arrived at the office for an appointment. Berkland said it is likely that Klausutis died sometime Thursday afternoon or evening.

“She had been dead for quite awhile before she was found,” Berkland said Saturday.

“Based on the physical evidence, I feel comfortable moving the time of her death back to the previous day.”

Klausutis’ death was likely accidental or the result of natural causes. Berkland said it is unlikely that her death was a suicide, but will not rule that out until the blood tests are returned.

“There is no evidence at all that this was an intentional act, but we can’t rule it out just yet,” Berkland said.

Toxicology reports, performed at a laboratory in Gainesville, will reveal the presence of any drugs or other unnatural substances in Klausutis’ body, Berkland said.

“I’ve been cautioning people against saying she died of natural causes because there could have been something present in her system that we can’t find until we get those results,” he added.

Berkland said Klausutis had been involved in a serious car accident as a teenager and still suffered from some lingering medical problems, but it is unknown whether those conditions played a role in her death. Many of her medical records are from another state and Berkland is waiting to review those as well before making an announcement.

Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue said he is also awaiting toxicology and medical examiner’s reports, though the department’s preliminary investigation revealed nothing suspicious inside Scarborough’s office. Officers found no signs of a struggle, break-in or robbery, Hogue said.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday warned the mayor of Los Angeles and the county’s top health officer that an extension of the coronavirus stay-at-home order may be unlawful.

The vague letter sent to Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer did not spell out any specific violations, but noted concern about statements both had made publicly that restrictions may be prolonged without a vaccine.

“Reports of your recent public statements indicate that you suggested the possibility of long-term lockdown of the residents in the city and county of Los Angeles, regardless of the legal justification for such restrictions,” Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband wrote. “We remain concerned about what may be an arbitrary and heavy-handed approach to continuing stay-at-home requirements.”

Dreiband acknowledged that Garcetti had broad authority to protect residents during the pandemic.

Garcetti said the city would be guided by science and data rather than politics. He said the city’s 7-day average of deaths is holding and he feels confident about measures the city is taking.

“We are not guided by politics,” Garcetti said at a briefing. “There’s no games, there’s nothing else going on, and that’s the way we’re going to continue to safely open.”

“There’s no city in the world that right now doesn’t have some sort of orders and restrictions because we know this virus kills,” Garcetti added.

Even as more of California reopens restaurants and shops, Los Angeles is among a small number of California’s 58 counties that either have not sufficiently contained the virus to reopen more activities and commerce or, in the case of several San Francisco Bay Area counties, have chosen to move more slowly.

The letter came the same day the White House coronavirus response coordinator named the LA region as an area where spread of the virus is a concern. Los Angeles County, with a quarter of the state’s nearly 40 million residents, accounts for nearly half of its COVID-19 cases and about 55% of the state’s more than 3,600 deaths.

Dr. Deborah Birx asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help look into the source of new cases to help prevent future outbreaks.

Ok, it looks like the Veeners are now escorting the FORTUNE. The cap shows FORTUNE in the rear with a vessel close ahead of her - that wasn't there 2 breads ago, fo' sho'. And the lead vessel (it's being called a tanker) is showing up on both major tracking websites, so I'd call it a legit track. Not a tanker, it's a patrol ship in the lead position.

Also, tucked away on the west side of Juan Griego Island is an unspecified vessel. Distance measuring shows it is about 95 nm ahead and it wasn't on the scope earlier. It looks like a secondary escort, or a handoff.

No dope on what either one of these new vessels are, but it's safe to proceed under the assumption they're Veener Navy.

Lori Kaye Klausutis, age 28, of Niceville, Fla., passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2001. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she sang in the

choir and was also a cantor. She was a former president of the Young Republicans and was serving as treasurer at the time of her passing.

Lori graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia School of Journalism and was working on completing her MBA from the University of West Florida. She

was also a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

She performed in "Wild Wild Women" with the Stagecrafters. She was also on the boards of the Fort Walton Beach Youth Symphony and a member of the Fort

Walton Beach Jaycees.

Survivors include her husband, T.J. Klausutis of Niceville; parents, Larry and Linda Bolterstein of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Kelly Ann Bolterstein of Atlanta, Ga.;

father- and mother-in-law, Norm and Carol Klausutis of Niceville; brother- and sisters-in-law, Michael and Laurie Klausutis of Valparaiso, Fla., and Kristen Klausutis

of Niceville; and grandparents, Leo and Heneretta Leja of Fraser, Mich.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Paul White officiating. Burial will follow in the

Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville.

McLaughlin Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.

Study: A majority of the population may have 'some degree' of preexisting immunity to COVID-19

A new study from scientists in the United States suggests that a significant majority of the population may already have some level of immunity to the coronavirus, a possible explanation for why so many individuals seem to experience few to no symptoms from the disease.

The study, written by researchers in California, New York and North Carolina and soon to be published in the journal Cell, discovered that certain types of cells in blood samples taken from donors in 2015-2018—well before COVID-19 arose—were reactive against the COVID-19 virus. In other words, those blood samples were at least partially immune from the coronavirus even though they had never been exposed to it.

"CD4+ T cell responses were detected in 40-60% of unexposed individuals. This may be reflective of some degree of crossreactive, preexisting immunity to SARS- CoV-2 in some, but not all, individuals," the researchers state in the paper.

The scientists are careful to qualify their conclusions. "Whether this immunity is relevant in influencing clinical outcomes is unknown—and cannot be known without T cell measurements before and after SARS- CoV-2 infection of individuals—but it is tempting to speculate that the crossreactive CD4+ T cells may be of value in protective immunity," they write.

The research could provide an important clue for public health officials hoping to figure out why significant numbers of COVID-19 infections are either asymptomatic or else largely mild. The disease affects elderly and less healthy individuals most severely, with younger and healthy individuals for the most part spared its worst effects.

Though the term "coronavirus" has become ubiquitous in recent weeks as a way to describe the virus causing the current pandemic, coronaviruses are actually a variegated strain of infectious agents that cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to SARS.

The researchers in their paper suggest that the immune response seen in the uninfected blood samples could have been generated by the coronaviruses that cause the common cold.

This is a CRAP study, but do not take my word for it, here are some facts about it.

First, this is a retrospective study. So far, all the retrospective had been deemed "dubious" or "anecdotal" when they showed positive results. But not for this one apparently, even though it is very badly done.

The study only includes patients that have been hospitalized. That means they were already in an advanced stage. But the proponents of therapies using HCQ+AZT say it is effective when patient are treated AS SOON AS they are tested positive, not when it's already too late. What is that paper showing then?

Where is the data concerning patients that did not need to be hospitalized, because they were treated early and saved? Not considered in that study. They only included patients that were in such an advanced states, that they needed to be hospitalized...

But also very importantly, the author themselves says that:

"Our study has several limitations. The association of decreased survival with hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine treatment regimens should be interpreted cautiously. Due to the observational study design, we cannot exclude the possibility of unmeasured confounding factors, although we have reassuringly noted consistency between the primary analysis and the propensity score matched analyses. Nevertheless, a cause-and-effect relationship between drug therapy and survival should not be inferred."

"WE CANNOT EXCLUDE THE POSSIBILITY OF UNMEASURED CONFOUNDING FACTORS."

"A CAUSE-AND-EFFECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DRUG THERAPY AND SURVIVAL SHOULD NOT BE INFERRED."

For ArsTechnica (which once was a respectable tech site, but has not become yet another Conde Nast DS propaganda outlet, with brigade of shills in the forums that enforce RIGHTSPEAK) and the rest of the MSM, it doesn't matter

This paper does not provide essential data:

- what were the doses used? They only provide a mean dose. Who received the corrected dosage among these patients?

- what were the durations of the treatments? They only give the ICU length of stay.

- as said above, they include patients that were given clarithromycine, and journalists used those results to talk about the efficacy of HCQ+AZT. This is pure FRAUD.

- 40% of the patients are taking antiviral meds! How can you assert the antiviral effect of HCQ+/-AZT if you use other antiviral meds on top of that?

- those who received HCQ+/-AZT have a higher proportion of SPO 2<94% !!

In the COVID-19 context, that's a further indication that these patients were already in a critical state, a state at which it is known that it is already too late, the treatment as little chance of succeeding at this point.

- it's also not like Mandeep Mehra, the main author, does not know that antiviral medications must be used at the beginning of the infection: he published a paper on that topic himself!! The study does not say how they really handled missing values! The data comes from 671 different hospitals. They merely say:

"A manual data entry process is used for quality assurance and validation to ensure that key missing values are kept to a minimum."

Also, where is the full data set, so that independent analyses of the result can be done? It would have been nice, but of course, it is not provided. And I am sure they will say it's to "protect the confidentiality of the patients data".

Finally, the authors of this paper have deep conflicts of interests:

- that study was supported by the Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston, that also does 2 studies on Remdesivir. That's not mentioned in the paper.

- Mandeep Mehra has deep ties with the pharmaceutical industry. Not necessarily an indication of malevolence, but for this guy, it's a festival of connections! As stated in the paper:

- NO CHLOROQUINE: it has a bad side-effect profile compared to HCQ

- NO CLARITHROMYCIN: again, do you not see the slight of hand? Who ever talked about using macrolides?

- DO IT UNDER THE CARE OF MEDICAL DOCTOR, TO MONITOR THE RESPONSE OF THE PATIENT TO THE TREATMENT!

The autopsy of Lori Klausutis makes no reference to a time of death. That raises new questions about an investigation that started when the 28-year-old woman's body was found in the office of then U.S. Representative Joe Scarborough in summer 2001.

Accidental death was the official finding in the Klausutis case, with a cardiac arrhythmia causing her to fall and hit her head on a desk. But the recent discovery of human remains at a storage unit in Pensacola, Florida, casts doubt on that ruling. That's because the storage unit was rented by Dr. Michael Berkland, the man who conducted the Klausutis autopsy 11 years earlier.

Berkland now faces a felony charge of improper storage of hazardous waste, and the grisly nature of the discovery calls his competenceand perhaps his sanityinto question.

Was the Lori Klausutis autopsy conducted in a professional manner? Was foul play prematurely ruled out? Should the investigation be reopened, perhaps with renewed scrutiny for Scarborough and others who might have had access to his office at the time?

Why did Berkland not include this critical detail? It's not as if his report does not provide plenty of other details. He tells us that Klausutis was wearing a white thong on the day of her death. (Page 7.) He tells us that she had a "shaved genital region." (Page 8.) But no time of death?

Who is Tosh Plumlee? William Robert Plumlee, alias William H. Pearson, is a man who claims to have worked for the CIA as pilot transporting weapons to Cuba in the 60’s and being involved in drug running during the Reagan administration. Plumlee did actually testify before the Select Committee on Intelligence Activities in 1977 and again to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1990 and 91. However, his real claim to “fame” came when he “outed” himself as being involved in a CIA plot to stop the assassination of President Kennedy.

Plumlee claims that in 1963 he was a contract pilot for the CIA operating out of Miami and that on November 20th he was “assigned to be a co-pilot on a top secret flight.” The mission was to abort the assassination of President Kennedy and he would be flying a covert team capable of thwarting the assassins. He claims that on the 21st he and his co-pilot, Emmanuel Rojas, left Miami and headed for Tampa to pick up “other personnel” which included John Roselli. On the morning of November 22nd Plumlee claims they landed at Red Bird Airport and that he was asked by a member of the abort team if he would like to come along and see the President. According to Plumlee, the team was looking for a minimum of 19-20 assassins in Dealey Plaza that day. When Kennedy was, shot Plumlee says he was standing on the south side knoll on Commerce Street. Plumlee says that the team packed up and left at around 2 PM that day from Redbird Airport. In the last part of his story he states that the ride home was very quiet and somber as all the men felt they had failed. To this day he firmly asserts that the CIA had nothing to do with the assassination.

Plumlee’s story sounds tempting because he claims that the CIA had intercepted information about a plot to assassinate Kennedy and simply failed to stop it. This flatly contradicts the vast majority of CIA conspiracy theories, which claim that the Agency wanted JFK dead. His story may be attractive, but should we believe him?

Before we get into the history of Tosh Plumlee, let’s focus simply on his story. When you look at Plumlee's full official statement on the assassination, there are several issues. The first is that there is no record of Plumlee ever being in employed by the CIA in any way shape or form other than his personal statements. It is not uncommon that someone will work for the CIA or be contracted by them and there is no existing documentation of their employment, especially during cover operations. The problem for Plumlee is that there is no one who can corroborate his story. The website jfkmurdersolved.com has a cache of files on Plumlee’s “CIA Involvement.” However all of these files are either accounts of Plumlee bothering various Federal officials with his claims, or descriptions of operations Plumlee claims to have been involved in without any mention of him.

There is, in other words, zero corroboration in the documents of any of his claims.

Plumlee also has a factoid and assassination lore problem to deal with. In his official statement Plumlee claims “[t]he original information the team had received from sources in Texas and the CIA was an attempt was going to be made outside the Adolphus Hotel, but for reasons unknown to them, I was told, the routing of the motorcade had been changed at the last minute to Dealey Plaza.” This is an old assassination factoid dating back to 1964 in Joachim Joesten’s book Oswald: Assassin Or Fall Guy? that claimed to have discovered a changed route based off of newspaper maps of the route. Plumlee also claims they “would be looking for a type of triangulation ambush.” This piece of assassination lore is as old as the assassination itself. It is a classic piece of logic for conspiracy theorists who like to point out that it would make much more sense to have three shooters who can “Triangulate” their fire on Elm Street. Such claims are well designed to gain acceptance from assassination buffs who believe in a conspiracy.

What about his presence in Dealey Plaza? If you’re thinking, “There are plenty of photos taken that day so surely there must be one of the area he claims to have been standing in” then you would be correct. Plumlee told a class of Jim Marrs’ students at the University of Texas at Arlington that he was standing on the Commerce street sidewalk at the time the shots were fired. This places him on the South Knoll which is pictured in the Cancellare photo and the Couch Film. Gary Mack, curator of the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas, was in this class and asked Plumlee to point himself out in both of these photos. He was unable to because there is no one there.

With so many plot holes in his story, why would Plumlee go around spreading this? The easier answer is to assume that he is an attention seeker that has finally found an audience that’s willing to listen to his tall tales. However, we cannot come to that conclusion without some type of evidence to back it up. Fortunately, there is a good amount contained in documents about Plumlee in the National Archives. It turns out that in 1959 Plumlee was interviewed during a FBI investigation of a massive weapons theft of the Ohio National Guard. The agent who conducted the interview in Denver Colorado stated:

“It is noted that Plumlee tells a very confusing, illogical story, with a complete lack of specifics, and that he has indicated that he has, in the past, used his imagination for the purpose of making his story more believable, i.e. in that he has admitted making up names of persons allegedly contacted by him.” (Memo: From, SAC, Denver; To: Director, FBI; NARA Record Number 124-90100-10258)

Another document related to the same case says:

"Although it appears that the subject [Plumlee] fabricated much of his story, a review of the facts in this case do not reflect evidence to warrant further consideration. . . ." (Memo: From, SAC, Cincinnati; To, Director, FBI; NARA Record Number 124-90100-10307)

Along with that, in 1963 he was charged for stealing an aircraft and passing fraudulent checks. In the investigation the FBI noted that “(Plumlee) known to Miami office as an unreliable chronic complaint.” He also gave out several false addresses and phone numbers during the investigation. (Federal Bureau of Investigation; Investigative report by Special Agent Calvin Knott; National Archives Record Number 124-90033-10039)

Note that these documents detailing his unreliability date from 1959 and early 1963, which is well before the FBI could have had any reason related to the JFK assassination to try to discredit him.

Like may assassination conspiracy witnesses, Plumlee has incorporated a variety of conspiracy tales, some of them related to issues besides the assassination, into his account. For example, in November of 1990 Colonel James Sabbow of the United States Marine Corp was implicated in a scandal at MCAS El Toro, in which government aircraft were misused for personal travel, and relieved of all duties. Plumlee has insisted that this was all really connected to a Latin American drug running operation, but a thorough investigation by the Naval Investigative Service showed it to be merely what it seemed to be: an instance of corruption not part of any wider scheme.

Not only is Plumlee’s story farfetched, but he has a history of pestering the Feds with conspiracy theories and telling tall tales. While his story has a nice ring to it (I mean, who doesn’t want to believe that the CIA knew that someone was trying to kill the President but just failed to stop the plot in time) there are far too many inconsistencies and not any evidence to corroborate his story. Plumlee, as the 1959 FBI documents show, likes to tell tall tales. Apparently, he has continued to do so in the years since.

New CDC Figures Show Fauci’s Dishonest COVID-19 Projections Were Garbage

Every single lockdown order inflicted on the American people these past few months needs to be rescinded immediately.

Once that’s done, Fauci has to be investigated to find out why on earth he pushed these catastrophic measures on us using projections he knew to be false. He also needs to be indicted for peddling his lies before Congress and held criminally accountable for all the death and devastation he’s caused as well.

In case you hadn’t heard, Matt Margolis over at PJ Media is reporting that the CDC now estimates the case fatality rate (CFR) of COVID-19 to be only .4 percent. As Margolis points out, that’s much lower than the numbers used to frighten us into these lockdowns. But there are a few factors he doesn’t mention that demonstratively show we were unspeakably deceived rather than merely the victims of some disastrous but ultimately honest mistake.

The CFR is the death rate restricted to just those cases in which someone with symptoms had a test confirming they were infected. Since it factors in neither asymptomatic cases nor unconfirmed symptomatic ones, it’s going to substantially overstate the infection fatality rate (IFR), which is the rate among the totality of all those infected.

And, of course, it’s the IFR which represents the odds a random person who contracts the virus has of dying. The CFR, on the other hand, isn’t really of any interest at all if you’re just a normal person trying to understand how dire a threat we’re facing. It gets massively skewed by the over-representation of serious cases among those who get tested and because it doesn’t factor in asymptomatic infections at all.

Moreover, the skewing isn’t even uniform. Its extent depends upon the availability of tests and the polices in place concerning when they’re to be given. Both of which vary between different localities and even in the same one at different times.

The CDC is also now estimating that only 65% of those who contract the COVID-19 virus actually wind up with any symptoms. That means the IFR will be at most 65% of the CFR since the latter is only counting symptomatic cases. That puts COVID-19’s fatality rate at below .26%. But, given that testing has been relatively rare even among those who show symptoms, it’s bound to be substantially lower.

Margolis says that IFR will actually be .26%. But that calculation depends on assuming that everyone who caught the virus and developed symptoms was tested, which is clearly not even close to true. The .26% figure he cites is, at best, an upper limit on the IFR, which is actually bound to be at least several times lower.

As Margolis points out, initially, we were told that COVID-19’s CFR was 3.4%, which is 8.5 times higher than the current CDC estimate of .4%. But he doesn’t note that those pushing this – as it’s turned out –vastly inflated number didn’t distinguish between the CFR and IFR. Instead the 3.4% figure was sold to us as COVID-19’s unqualified “death” or “mortality” rate.

We were subjected to hundreds of stories like this one from CNBC headlined, ‘WHO Says Coronavirus Death Rate Is 3.4% Globally, Higher Than Previously Thought.’ CNBC also cites the 3.4% figure as COVID-19’s unqualified “mortality rate” in their lead sentence. Since anyone reading these claims would immediately assume they represented his or her chances of dying upon contracting the virus, the percentages we were bombarded with would have been despicably deceptive even if COVID-19’s CFR really had been 3.4%.

Moreover, throughout March, Fauci himself issued dire warnings that COVID-19 was “at least 10 times more lethal than the flu.” He swore to it while testifying to Congress on March 11, generating a blizzard of scare-mongering headlines hammering the frightening numerical comparison into our heads. And he repeated the bogus numbers in a March 27 appearance on Comedy Central.

The flu’s IFR is estimated to be around .1%. As we noted above, the CDC is now saying that even COVID-19’s CFR is only .4%. And they’re now citing a percentage for asymptomatic cases which implies that the virus’s actual lethality is several times lower than .26%. Moreover, as Margolis pointed out in a decidedly useful earlier column, at least 3 major research studies have concluded that COVID-19 has around the same IFR as the flu.

Ubisoft has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Apple and Google for allowing a rip-off of 2015’s Rainbow Six: Siege on their respective app stores.

In a complaint filed in a Los Angeles federal court, Ubisoft claimed that Area F2, a multiplayer mobile shooter created by Alibaba-owned Ejoy, is a “near carbon copy” of Rainbow Six: Siege, Bloomberg reported.

Ejoy, which was acquired by Alibaba in 2017, started promotions for Area F2 in the U.S. late last year on channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. The game was listed on the App Store and Google Play Store last month, and is still currently available for download to mobile phones and tablets.

Ubisoft has notified Apple and Google about the copyright infringement of Area F2, but they have both refused to take down the game, according to Bloomberg.

According to Ubisoft’s lawsuit, there are 55 million registered players of Rainbow Six: Siege across the world, with more than 3 million players daily, making the game one of the publisher’s “most valuable intellectual properties.” As such, competitors are always looking to “piggyback” on the shooter’s success and popularity, the publisher said.

Area F2 as a rip-off of Rainbow Six: Siege could not “seriously be disputed,” Ubisoft said. “Virtually every aspect of AF2 is copied from R6S, from the operator selection screen to the final scoring screen, and everything in between,” the publisher alleges.

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - Kittitas County says it is directing locals to wear face masks in response to COVID-19

The face mask directive will be effective on Saturday, May 23.

The county Health Department says people in Kittitas County who are at indoor or confined public settings must wear a face mask if they will be within six feet of a non-household member.

Also, the health department says face masks must be worn outside as well when you cannot maintain a six-foot physical distance.

They say cloth face masks, scarves, bandanas, or other materials recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) can be used.

All commercial establishments in Kittitas County are required to post signage advising individuals to wear face coverings.

List of individuals who do not need to comply with the directive:

Children under 2

Any child under 12 years of age, unless supervised by a parent or caregiver

Any individual who is deaf and uses facial and mouth movements as part of communication.

Individuals advised by medical professionals that masking would pose a health risk.

Any individual who has trouble breathing or otherwise unable to remove the face covering without assistance.

KCPHD says the directive may and should be used to educate individuals to wear face coverings to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

The face covering directive will also be included in the report to the state in regarding to Kittitas County moving to Phase 2.
