The Swiss arrested a doctor for what looks like dissent on their muh corona narrative. It appears it's the same doctor, even though this first article does not mention his name.

At Wettingen, the Aargau Cantonal Police deployed on Saturday evening. The police officers were deployed with a special unit. A 58-year-old Swiss from the Baden district had spread threats against family members and authorities, according to a statement on Sunday. He was admitted to a psychiatric clinic.

As Tele M1 reports, the man is a 58-year-old doctor. He had posted a call for help on social media: “In front of my practice there is a commando from Kapo Aargau, I will be picked up, help!”

Lately, however, he has found that the 58-year-old has made confusing statements in connection with the corona virus. The body found in the Chattahoochee River last week in Atlanta was identified as CDC scientist Timothy Cunningham.

Cunningham went missing a month ago.

Timothy left work early and was never seen alive again.

There are still a lot of questions about his death.

A body found late Tuesday night in the Chattahoochee River is that of a CDC scientist who went missing more than a month ago, officials said on Thursday.

Timothy Cunningham, a 35-year-old worker at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, disappeared on Feb. 12 after leaving work early at the CDC office in Chamblee.

On Tuesday night, fishermen contacted authorities after discovering a body in the Chattahoochee River near Donald L. Hollowell, about 400 yards upstream from the bridge, and on the Atlanta side of the river. Officials said it was just east of the Atlanta Public Safety Annex.

World Health Organization Stopped Medical Experts from Recommending Coronavirus Travel Bans

Medical experts wanted to recommend travel bans for nations to help stop the spread of the Chinese coronavirus in the early days of the pandemic. World Health Organization (WHO) bureaucrats stopped them from making those recommendations.

A report by Australia’s Sky News revealed that on January 30, WHO bureaucrats met with a group of doctors and medical experts to discuss a response to the coronavirus, which at the time was spreading from Wuhan, China, to nations like the United States, Italy, Iran, and South Korea. The report is based on the meeting’s official records.

The WHO bureaucrats met with the experts in Geneva, Switzerland, and successfully stopped them from suggesting travel bans as a life-saving solution to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Sky News digital editor Jack Houghton said in an on-air report:

[WHO] actually decided not to go ahead with [travel ban recommendations] and not declare a global health emergency but there were a few dissenting voices. So the official meeting records say there was a divergence of views but they won’t actually go into detail about who was trying to block it. But there were doctors there who wanted to issue travel bans and the World Health Organization blocked it.

In early and late February, while thousands of coronavirus cases were confirmed across the world, WHO bureaucrats continuously urged nations not to impose travel bans.

“WHO continues to advise against the application of travel or trade restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks,” an official WHO statement from February 29 reads.

Despite WHO bureaucrats stopping the experts from recommending travel bans to nations looking to keep the coronavirus from spreading, President Trump moved forward with travel bans on China and Iran within weeks of the first confirmed case in the U.S.

About a month later, Trump issued a travel ban on Europe after the nation’s leading medical experts said the coronavirus was primarily being spread due to European travel. Specifically, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci said the travel bans were critical to fighting the coronavirus.

“I believe we would be in a worse position,” Fauci told congressional lawmakers on March 11 when asked what position the U.S. would have been in if not for Trump’s travel bans.

A study by experts at Mount Sinai states that New York City’s record-high coronavirus cases and deaths are “predominately” due to travel from Europe.

As Breitbart News reported, Australia implemented similar life-saving immigration restrictions despite the opposition of WHO bureaucrats. Australia moved relatively quickly to ban travel from China regardless of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu claiming such bans would “unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade.”

Hunter Biden Still Listed As Board Member Of Chinese Company He Pledged To Resign From In October, Business Records Show

Hunter Biden’s pledge in October to resign from the board of a Chinese private equity firm received widespread media coverage.

Former Vice President Joe Biden lauded his son’s announcement to relinquish his board position with BHR Partners as a sign of his integrity.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, George Mesires, told the Daily Caller News Foundation in November that Hunter Biden had followed through on his pledge to resign from the firm, but he not provide any evidence of his departure at the time.

Chinese business records accessed Tuesday show that Hunter Biden is still listed as a member of BHR’s board of directors — six months after he pledged to relinquish the position.

Hunter Biden received wall-to-wall media coverage and praise from his father, former Vice President Joe Biden, in October when he announced he would resign from the board of a Chinese private equity firm by the end of the month.

But six months after Hunter Biden pledged to relinquish his position with BHR Partners, no evidence has surfaced to prove he actually followed through on his promise.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, George Mesires, told the Daily Caller News Foundation in early November that his client had resigned from BHR’s board, but he did not provide any evidence of his departure from the Chinese private equity firm at the time.

Chinese business records the DCNF accessed Tuesday still name Hunter Biden as a director of BHR. He also retains a 10% equity stake in BHR through his company, Skaneateles LLC, business records for the Chinese private equity firm show.

BHR manages the equivalent of $2.1 billion in assets, according to its website. Hunter Biden has served as an unpaid member of BHR’s board since its founding in 2013, and in October 2017 he obtained his equity stake in the firm with a $420,000 investment, according to Mesires.

Hunter Biden had arranged for then-Vice President Joe Biden to shake hands with the CEO of BHR in December 2013, a meeting that caused some White House advisors to worry whether the younger Biden was exposing his father to criticism, The New Yorker reported.

In a statement issued Oct. 13 by his lawyer, Hunter Biden pledged to resign his position on BHR’s board “on or by October 31.” The statement did not say whether Hunter Biden intended to relinquish his ownership stake in the Chinese private equity firm.

Hunter Biden’s pledge received widespread media coverage in The Washington Post, The New York Times and elsewhere.

Joe Biden, now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, lauded his son’s announcement at the time.

“The statement my son put out today, which I saw when he put it out — I was told it was going to be put out, I did not consult with him about what’s being put out — in fact represents the kind of man of integrity he is,” Joe Biden said in October.

The former vice president pledged in December that none of his family members, including Hunter Biden, would engage in foreign business activities were he to become the next president.

As of Tuesday, BHR’s file on China’s National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (NECIPS) still lists Hunter Biden as being a director of BHR.

Qixinbao, an independent service that provides registration information on Chinese corporations, also listed Hunter Biden as a member of the BHR board on Tuesday.

Stopped Cold: True The Vote Ends Left’s Vote-by-Mail Scheme in New Mexico as National Battle Intensifies

True The Vote (TTV), a grassroots organization supporting election integrity, on Tuesday stopped leftist efforts to force New Mexico to shift to a mail-in election system in the state’s upcoming June primary.

What leftist county clerks and the Secretary of State were trying to accomplish in New Mexico was to get the state’s Supreme Court to assert control over how the state would handle elections rather than the legislature, where elected state lawmakers normally set procedure for how elections are conducted.

The leftist petitioners argued that the coronavirus crisis would provide the state courts cover to do so. Until TTV stepped in, there was little to no opposition to the left’s efforts that fit into a broader national agenda that Democrats throughout the party’s leadership are embracing.

“When the citizens of New Mexico reached out to True The Vote, there was no opposition in place to stop this,” Catherine Engelbrecht, the founder and president of True The Vote, told Breitbart News exclusively on Tuesday evening. “And, within days, we assembled a legal team and put together a 59-page brief that was used as the core document in today’s argument. The outcome was the court decided it didn’t have a role in controlling elections and it should stay within the bounds of the state constitution. All of us sitting at home watching headlines about the left trying to fundamentally change the way we conduct elections, get involved. Now is the time to get in the field and have your voice heard. If you are facing this in your state and are fighting back, True The Vote will have your back. This is just the beginning. We’re headed to Nevada next, where a similar situation is in play, and we’re going to stop it there too.”

Engelbrecht added that this is a playbook the left intends to roll out nationwide in any state they can.

“The thing they wanted most of all was they wanted legal precedent to be able to say to the courts, ‘you can make these decisions,’” Engelbrecht said. “Had we not stopped it here, it would have rolled across this country like a subversive fog.”

Jim Bopp, TTV’s general counsel, added in a statement to Breitbart News about the legal brief that TTV filed that the organization’s argument here framed the court’s ultimate decision noting that, had the NM Supreme Court gone the other way, it would have resulted in federal litigation.

“TTV made clear in our amicus brief that if the NM Supreme Court jumped off a cliff and illegally ordered a mail-in election that they would be sued in federal court for violating the rights of voters,” Bopp said. “They pulled back from the edge of the cliff.”

Mysterious Covid-19 outbreak forces US Navy to quarantine 116 crew on HOSPITAL ship treating a handful of non-coronavirus patients

The US Navy has removed over 100 sailors from a hospital ship docked in Los Angeles to aid the city’s fight against Covid-19 after seven crew members contracted the lethal virus – but exactly how remains a mystery.

The 116 medical staff members were pulled off the USNS Mercy on Tuesday and brought to a nearby base where they entered quarantine, Lieutenant Rochelle Rieger of the 3rd Fleet told the Associated Press, adding that none have been hospitalized.

More puzzling, however, is how – and where – the seven infected sailors could have picked up the virus, given that the Mercy’s entire crew of more than 1,000 was tested and cleared before the ship set off for Los Angeles in late March. Since then, none of the sailors have been allowed to leave the vessel.

Though the Mercy was deployed to take pressure off of LA’s crowded hospitals – intending to receive non-coronavirus patients to make room in intensive care units around the city – the ship has only taken in some 20 patients to date, largely due to strict military protocols governing who can receive treatment.

The only people going on and off the ship are the actual patients we've been treating so it's very hard to trace where this came from.

Rieger said that two of the infected personnel came in close contact with a handful of patients, but only while wearing full protective gear, including goggles, gloves and N95 masks. None of the ship’s 20 patients have tested positive for the virus, however medical experts have warned that some Covid-19 test kits are unreliable and can return ‘false negative’ results, leaving some room for infected individuals to slip past screenings.

While there are now more questions than answers as to how the virus made it on board the Mercy, Rieger said the relocation of the 116 crewmen won’t affect the ship’s ability to treat patients – what few of them there are – adding that the Navy will send some of the staff to work in LA’s medical facilities after completing a 14-day quarantine.

Stanford University professor of medicine Dr. Jay Bhattacharya told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Tuesday that he believes the actual death rate from the coronavirus pandemic is "likely orders of magnitude lower than the initial estimates."

"Per case, I don't think it's as deadly as people thought," Bhattacharya told host Tucker Carlson. " ... The World Health Organization put an estimate out that was, I think, initially 3.4 percent. It's very unlikely it is anywhere near that. It's it's much likely, much closer to the death rate that you see from the flu per case."

"The problem, of course, is that we don't have a vaccine," Bhattacharya added. "So in that sense, it's more deadly and more widespread than the flu, and it overwhelms hospital systems, the ways the flu doesn't."

The professor predicted that forthcoming research would give scientstists and health officials a "much more accurate understanding of how widespread this is."

"It really seems like there's many, many cases of the virus that we haven't identified with the testing regimens that we've got around the world," he said. "Many orders of magnitude more people have been infected with it, I think. I think that we realize that ... means that ... the death rate is actually lower than people realize, also by orders of magnitude."

Bhattacharya told Carlson he was less afraid of the virus than when he began his research, adding that he hoped the improved numbers would help Americans deal with their fear of the virus.

"I'm hoping to get numbers in place," Bhattacharya said. "We'll be able to really sort of quell the fear that's out there."

Los Angeles sheriff releases 25% of inmates over coronavirus — now he's worried there might be a crime wave

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva is worried that there might be a crime wave coming after he released what amounts to 25% of inmates over coronavirus concerns.

Villanueva expressed his concerns in an interview with FOX-11 on Monday.

"We were faced with a choice, if we left the jail system fully populated and overpopulated then the pandemic is a lot easier to sweep through the jail system and jeopardize everyone's safety," Villanueva explained.

He said that he released 4,276 nonviolent inmates.

"We have approximately 1,200 murder suspects currently in jail, that's greater than the entire population of some jail systems," Villanueva added.

While crime statistics are down all over the state, Villanueva is afraid that releasing thousands of criminals might lead to greater crime.

"We just have to be hyper-vigilant because that pendulum can eventually swing in the opposite direction," he said.

Only 11 of the 17,000 inmates in the Los Angeles County correctional system have contracted coronavirus.

Cramped jails in many municipalities have become breeding grounds for coronavirus outbreaks, leading local officials to call for inmate releases to alleviate the problem.

Villanueva was previously criticized for shutting down gun shops in Los Angeles County over the coronavirus pandemic.

007fag here. Grew up watching Bond flicks since they aired on ABC. My father who served in a 3 letter agency approved of me staying up after my bedtime to watch. I was always fascinated by the Bond Girls, the gadgets, and the exotic locations. Never took too much to the plots until later in life. Long story short, I watched Never Say Never Again which is a remake of Thunderball. It starred Sean Connery and Kim Basinger (best Bond Girl ever). Paid attention to the closing credits this time around and caught the name Khashoggi. Apparently the film used a yacht called the "Nabila" which is named after Adnan Khashoggi's daughter. Adnan was an international playboy caught up on all sorts of devices and schemes and was Jamal Khashoggi's uncle. The credit mentions a contribution to the Princess Grace Foundation which is dedicated to awarding grants to "emerging talent" in theatre, dance, and film. My talent isn't digging, just reporting what I observe as well as memefagging my liberal friends to death. o7

Earlier, Atlanta police said that Cunningham reportedly last spoke with his sister on the morning he went missing. Cunningham left behind his car, cell phone, wallet, and dog. Cunningham's father, Terrell, told the New York Times that Timothy had “a lot going on” personally and professionally, and that their most recent conversation left him worried.

The search went nationwide, and Cunningham's family was offering a more than $20,000 reward for information to help locate him.

Cunningham, a 2017 40 Under 40 honoree by Atlanta Business Chronicle, worked as a commander in the U.S. Public Health Service. He held two degrees from Harvard, and was also a graduate of Morehouse College.

Cunningham was promoted to commander in July with the United States Public Health Service. He served as team lead for the State Chronic Disease Epidemiology Assignee Program in the Division for Population Health at the CDC, associate editor for CDC’s “Preventing Chronic Disease” journal and infection control officer with USPHS Rapid Deployment Force 3.

As Population Health team lead, he supervised CDC epidemiologists assigned to state health departments and supports state chronic disease prevention.

Prior to joining CDC’s Division of Population, he spent a year with the federal agency’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine and two years with its Division of Reproductive Health.

In October, Cunningham told Atlanta Business Chronicle that he loves his job and is "very fortunate to love what I do."

"That does not mean it is always easy, but my passion for the work helps to sustain me when it gets hard," he said. "My advice is do what you love. Love what you do. Do not quit. Keep going. During the bad, pick yourself up and learn from it. Finally, take time to celebrate during the good times."

The Corona Typewriters in the tweets of Hanks, Maddona, etc were not typewriters at all, what they were using is an App created by Tom Hanks, named "Hanx Writer" with this app it allows the user to use their computer as an actual typewriter with an extra caveat of being able to share the documents that were written.

The use of an app like this could suggest that those who were using various Corona's were communicating, thinking of Maddona and her very poor spelling throughout her typing rants. Might be a good idea to look at this again this time in a new light.

Michael Bloomberg's short-lived presidential bid reignited a long-simmering dispute over the widespread use of nondisclosure agreements at American corporations — especially at his own.

His namesake company, Bloomberg LP, has used nondisclosure agreements broadly to conceal allegations and silence complaints from employees of sexual harassment or a hostile work environment, as published reports have documented.

The story of one Bloomberg reporter and his wife showcases the widespread use of such legal restraints at the company — and how far their reach can extend.

Six years ago, Bloomberg News killed an investigation into the wealth of Communist Party elites in China, fearful of repercussions by the Chinese government. The company successfully silenced the reporters involved. And it sought to keep the spouse of one of the reporters quiet, too.

"They assumed that because I was the wife of their employee, I was the wife," the author and journalist Leta Hong Fincher tells NPR. "I was just an appendage of their employee. I was not a human being."

Fincher is married to the journalist Mike Forsythe, a former Beijing correspondent for Bloomberg News who now works at The New York Times. In 2012, Forsythe was part of a Bloomberg team behind an award-winning investigation into the accumulation of wealth by China's ruling classes.

The Chinese ambassador warned Bloomberg executives against publishing the investigation. But Bloomberg News published the story anyway. Afterward, Forsythe received what he and Fincher considered death threats relayed through other journalists. He and Fincher moved their family to Hong Kong, believing it to be safer.

Even so, the reporting team pursued the next chapter, focusing on Chinese leaders' ties to the country's richest man, Wang Jianlin. Among those in the reporters' sights: the family of new Chinese President Xi Jinping. The story gained steam throughout 2013.

In emails sent back to Bloomberg's journalists in China seen by Fincher, senior news editors in New York City expressed excitement.

And then: radio silence from headquarters. That story never ran.

"Mike and some of the other reporters and editors who had been working on this story just were asking for answers about ... why was this story killed?" Fincher says.

Union County Man Charged with Filing a False Tax Return for Tax Year 2013

NEWARK, N.J. – A Union County, New Jersey, man was charged today with allegedly filing a false tax return for tax year 2013, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Anthony Salters, 57, of Hillside, New Jersey, is charged by complaint with subscribing to a false tax return. A summons was issued for Salters to appear in Newark federal court at a time to be scheduled by U.S. Magistrate Judge Leda Dunn Wettre.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

Salters was a principal of Media Allies LLC, a company that purportedly provided public relations services. On Feb. 12, 2014, Salters signed, filed, and caused to be filed with the IRS a U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, Form 1040, for tax year 2013, which contained a written declaration that it was filed under penalty of perjury and which falsely stated that Salters’ business income was zero and his total income was zero.

This is interesting.. I am a caregiver to my very disabled mother 30 years (stroke).. I have kept her alive by attempting to micro-manage healthcare workers even though I have no formal healthcare education. She is 80% "traditional Medicare" “fee for service”/ 20% "State Medicaid" by design by me. No way and not at anytime in the last 30 years would I hand her care over to a nursing home or manage care home (I always thought they were scams). Once you hand over control than getting the best care from the best universities then becomes impossible. With technology today, we don't need nursing homes but (((they))) have done everything in their power to keep us years behind and to make life extending therapies impossible to find and access. With some out of the box thinking and some of the silicon valley dollars wasted on useless apps put towards caregiving, taking care of our elderly could be so much easier and nicer for everyone involved.

I love how Trump and his admin are allocating out the first $30 billion in Emergency grants for Hospitals and doctors.. The money is allocated based on Medicare dollars spent last year. So states like Minnesota which is the best state in the country for Elders and Health care will get the most help. This just confirms my beliefs all along and I hope that this money starts to deprogram our doctors and start working on extending life instead of shortening it. Not the doctors fault, the system was designed this way so that they have no choice.

Based on my own experience, states like Michigan have tried every trick thought of to passively enroll seniors into cheaper Medicaid Homes forcing seniors to give-up the very luxury and life extending options of Medicare. They will be penalized.

Maybe this is why Michigan as an outlier has so many covid cases. Below are 2 Michigan charts I threw together. Check out the dates. As the numbers for the flu were falling off the cliff the numbers for Covid were rising.

If you wonder why CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta continues to engage in aggressive back-and-forth with President Trump even during a national emergency, Steve Krakauer has some insight. He is a former CNN producer who has since become a media analyst, offering a daily column called Fourth Watch. He knows a little something about Mr. Acosta.

“I don’t think Jim Acosta is a bad guy. I worked with him at CNN, and he was a solid, competent reporter. If Acosta’s goal was to be a great White House reporter, he could probably do it. But that’s not Jim Acosta’s goal. Jim Acosta wants to be famous, Acosta clearly aspires to use this opportunity to spar with President Trump,” writes Mr. Krakauer.

“Jim Acosta loves nothing more than Jim Acosta. But I’ve also half-joked that if we found out, years from now, that Acosta was actually a plant and was secretly working for the Trump re-election campaign, I wouldn’t be shocked,” the columnist continues.

The employee, Timothy J. Cunningham, 35, was promoted to commander in the United States Public Health Service in July, his family said. According to the police, he was last seen on Feb. 12.

“I feel like I’m in a horrible ‘Black Mirror’ episode,” Commander Cunningham’s sister, Tiara Cunningham, said in a phone interview on Saturday. “I’m kind of lost without him, to be quite honest.”

Ms. Cunningham, 27, was the last family member to speak with Commander Cunningham before he went missing, she said.

Although they live in different states — Ms. Cunningham in Fayetteville, N.C., and her brother in Atlanta — they are best friends and it is not unusual for them to talk multiple times a day, she said. But their brief phone conversation on Feb. 12 was a little different from most.

“He sounded not like himself,” she said, without elaborating. They ended the conversation the way they always do: “Love you. I’ll talk to you later.”

When she texted him later, she didn’t get a response. Neither did her mother, who tried to contact him that afternoon.

“That was really weird,” Ms. Cunningham said, adding that she was “devastated” by her brother’s absence.

Their father, Terrell Cunningham, 60, said his son’s supervisor told him that Commander Cunningham had reported for work but that he had left midday because he wasn’t feeling well.

When the family had difficulty contacting him, they asked a relative to check his home. The house and the garage were locked, and two windows were open.

Commander Cunningham’s father and his mother, Tia-Juana Cunningham, 60, drove all night from their home in Waldorf, Md., arriving in Atlanta early in the morning on Feb. 14.

“I just did not know what to expect,” Terrell Cunningham said. “You’re somewhat fearful and you’re praying.”

They used a spare key to enter their son’s home, where he lived alone with his dog, Mr. Bojangles, known as Bo. The dog had been left unattended, which was uncharacteristic for Commander Cunningham, Terrell Cunningham said.

They also discovered their son’s wallet, his cellphone, the keys to his car and various forms of identification, including his driver’s license and passport. His car was in the garage, Terrell Cunningham said.

Commander Cunningham had “a lot going on” personally and professionally, his father added, and his most recent conversation with his son had left him worried.

“The tone, and the numerous exchanges gave us reason to be concerned about Tim,” Terrell Cunningham said. “And I don’t know if it’s an instinct you have because it’s your child, but it was not a normal conversation and I was not comfortable.”

The police are investigating the disappearance.

“As of today we have been unable to locate Mr. Cunningham and we are seeking the assistance of the public with this case,” Officer Donald T. Hannah of the Atlanta Police Department said in an email on Saturday.

The police have found no evidence of foul play, he added. Commander Cunningham’s family has teamed up with Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta to offer a $10,000 reward.

Commander Cunningham’s family described him as gentle, driven, introspective and meticulous. He has two degrees from Harvard’s School of Public Health, according to the C.D.C.’s website, and has been deployed for public health emergencies such as outbreaks of Ebola and the Zika virus. He was also selected as one of The Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 Award winners.

Anterio Cunningham, 41, his older brother, said the disappearance “totally goes against not just our core principles as a family but also his personality.”

Commander Cunningham was the kind of person who sent people handwritten notes and encouraged his siblings to excel at school, he said.

The family says that they have no idea what might have happened, but that they are trying to stay positive. For now, there are more questions than answers.

“This is just so out of the realm of, I don’t know,” Anterio Cunningham said, his voice trailing off. “Like, never in a million years would I have thought this.”

First, the name “SPAHN” caught my attention because I remembered the "Manson Family" hung out at Spahn’s Ranch near L.A. I wonder if Andy Spahn is related to George Spahn, who owned it? We must dig. If Manson was a Clowns in America operation (and I think he was a product of MKU), then perhaps the Spahn family is connected to the Clowns. Perhaps Andy Spahn is related to George? I didn’t dig that yet. . .

U.S. Attorney John F. Bash of the Western District of Texas announced today that Blue Furniture Solutions, LLC, its successor XMillenium, LLC, and two of the companies’ former executives—CEO Yingqing Zeng and CFO Alex Cheng—have agreed to pay more than $5.2 million to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by evading customs duties and fees on furniture imported from China.

In July 2015, University Loft Company filed a False Claims Act qui tam action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, alleging that Blue Furniture and others were importing wooden bedroom furniture into the U.S. without paying the required anti-dumping duties and other customs fees. After investigating University Loft’s allegations, the United States elected to intervene in the action.

CDC scientist’s body found near area of infamous Atlanta Child Murder cases

The recent recovery of the body of Dr. Timothy Cunningham, a respected scientist at the CDC and graduate of Morehouse College and Harvard University, has shocked the city. Dr. Cunningham disappeared over seven weeks ago after telling coworkers he was feeling ill and going home. He was never seen again. When concerned family members went to his home, they found his wallet, cell phone, keys, and dog.

On Tuesday of this week, a man fishing near a bridge on an isolated stretch of the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta discovered Cunningham’s decomposing body stuck along a mud bank. For many people who lived in Atlanta during 1979-81, the location of the bridge and body of Dr. Cunningham near Donald L. Hollowell Rd (Old Bankhead Hwy) immediately brought up the memory of convicted killer Wayne Williams and the Atlanta Child Murders, also called the Atlanta Murdered & Missing.

During a two year period, 28 bodies of children and adults were found in various parts of the city that included wooded areas, behind buildings, and dumped in the Chattahoochee River. All the victims were from areas of the city where poor Black people lived. The city was under the leadership of Atlanta’s first Black mayor, Maynard Jackson, and concern reached all the way up to the White House after major celebrities including boxer Muhammad Ali became involved.

President Ronald Reagan initiated a federal task force to become involved and after a time they found a suspect at the scene of a body dumping. On the night of May 22, 1981, police were staking out a bridge over the Chattahoochee River when they heard a splash. Police stopped Wayne Williams and questioned him and got a strange story of why he had stopped on the bridge and was in the area. Two days later, the body of an adult male was pulled from the river. Fiber and dog hair evidence tied Williams to the body and to some of the victims. Williams was later charged with the murder of all 28 victims and was sentenced to two life terms. It was called a miscarriage of justice by some who believed Williams was innocent and the city was just closing the books quickly and using him as a scapegoat. The investigation revealed a very sordid picture of Atlanta at the time and included suspicion that the KKK was involved, known pedophiles in the Black community and another suspect. That other suspect was a known gay Black man who died of an AIDS in prison before the virus was eventually named.

To this day, Wayne Williams has professed his innocence and five of the Atlanta child murder cases remain unsolved. At this time, the early narrative for Dr. Cunningham’s death was that he may have tripped and fell into the river and drowned. As far as the police are concerned, the case is closed, but for many, more answers are needed.

Something isn't adding up here anons regarding transmission rates and therefore death rates.

Bear with me here, let's assume that 40% of cases are asymptomatic (reality findings are between 5% and 80%). Basically all countries I know of are only testing symptomatic patients (80%). Lets pretend that all of those symptomatic get tested and quarantined, that still leaves 20% of the population with the potential to grow logarithmic-ally. Currently there are 120,000 (potential) asymptomatic cases. The seasonal flu has 50% asymptomatic rate and MERS-Cov had an up to 30% asym rate. I would argue that due to this, the actual death rate should be deaths/((deaths+recovered) + (~40% total cases))

This would put the current US death rate at between ~4% and ~8% (assuming valid statistics of 40% to 80% asym). 26000/(26000+38000+248000) ~ 26000/(26000+38000+496000)

Countries like Australia have a current death rate of ~1% to ~0.5% (pretty much the flu).

China Reopens Wet Markets with World Health Organization’s Blessing

China’s notorious “wet markets,” the open-air wildlife slaughterhouses that were supposedly the mechanism for the Wuhan coronavirus jumping from animals to humans, are back in business with the approval of the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO seal of approval stunned government officials and health experts around the globe. Chinese state media outlets were delighted to announce the ostensibly “sanitized” wet markets are open again in provinces across China – including Wuhan, epicenter of the global pandemic that killed thousands of people and inflicted trillions of dollars in economic damage. According to the state-run Global Times, some of the wet markets never closed at all:

After the COVID-19 outbreak in late January, many of the city’s farmers’ and wet markets were ordered to close and to rectify their sanitary hazards. Zhang Zheyan, manager of a big market in Wuchang district, Wuhan told the Global Times that his market was ordered to lockdown in January, and he is waiting for the government’s order to reopen. But the market’s vendors and neighboring residents cannot wait anymore, as many vendors are in need of income while the demand for fresh food has increased. Zhang opened a small patch of field in front of its market’s closed door, enabling vendors to display their products, such as poultry meat and fresh vegetables. Zhang said this is the market’s way of “self- redemption.” The old buzzing Wuyizha market in Wuchang district is nearly empty now, with only a few inspectors disinfecting the market floor and closed doors of shops. Wang, manager of Wuyizha market, said that more than 500 market vendors, who are now left jobless without income, are waiting eagerly for the government’s order to reopen again. China, the country that employs a million censors to police every single social media post for unauthorized images of Winnie the Pooh, claims it can do nothing but “urge” the wet markets to refrain from selling endangered species and animals teeming with zoonotic killer viruses. The Global Times enthused that business would boom at the reopened market because shoppers can now indulge their exotic appetites at discount prices. Although the CCP itself used to blame the coronavirus outbreak on wet markets and made noises about shutting them down at the height of global outrage, Chinese propaganda now denounces foreign criticism of the markets as “slander” and cultural arrogance. Western politicians and media outlets have now found a new target in their “coronavirus blame game” against China, as Wuhan, the Chinese city hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak, lifted its 76-day lockdown and has gradually reopened its farmers and wet markets. They alleged the wet markets are the origin of the virus and incubators of human disease, and asked the permanent shutdown of the markets. As it is deeply related to their daily life, angry Chinese people believe such groundless and ridiculous request of closing those markets, which plays a pivotal role in providing them with fresh, affordable and sustainable daily food, is equivalent to “forbidding us from eating,” and market vendors decried whoever asked China to close these markets and demanded them to support vendors financially. Also, Western politicians and media, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today and Bloomberg, deceived by their preconceived idea of Chinese markets, accused such markets as hotbeds of selling wild animals, where on-site slaughter of animals is prevalent, and operated under unhygienic conditions. "President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced he will be enlisting advisers from nearly all sectors of American commerce, the medical field, and elected office to join a new “task force” dedicated to reopening the United States’ economy after it was ravaged by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.

Speaking at the White House, Trump read dozens of names of executives and companies from sectors including technology, agriculture, banking, financial services, defense, energy, transportation, as well as leaders from unions, professional sports, think tanks, and health care, as members of his task force, dubbed the “Great American Economic Revival Industry Groups.”

The president said his administration will be speaking to the groups “over the next very short period of time, in many cases, tomorrow,” and will do so “by telephone, because we don’t want people traveling right now.” Trump said that those named on the list were “the best and the smartest, the brightest and they’re going to give us some ideas,” on how to reopen the economy following its CCP virus-induced shutdown."

China didn’t warn public of likely pandemic for 6 key days

"In the six days after top Chinese officials secretly determined they likely were facing a pandemic from a new coronavirus, the city of Wuhan at the epicenter of the disease hosted a mass banquet for tens of thousands of people; millions began traveling through for Lunar New Year celebrations.

President Xi Jinping warned the public on the seventh day, Jan. 20. But by that time, more than 3,000 people had been infected during almost a week of public silence, according to internal documents obtained by The Associated Press and expert estimates based on retrospective infection data.

Six days.

That delay from Jan. 14 to Jan. 20 was neither the first mistake made by Chinese officials at all levels in confronting the outbreak, nor the longest lag, as governments around the world have dragged their feet for weeks and even months in addressing the virus.

But the delay by the first country to face the new coronavirus came at a critical time — the beginning of the outbreak. China’s attempt to walk a line between alerting the public and avoiding panic set the stage for a pandemic that has infected almost 2 million people and taken more than 126,000 lives.

“This is tremendous,” said Zuo-Feng Zhang, an epidemiologist at the University of California, Los Angeles. “If they took action six days earlier, there would have been much fewer patients and medical facilities would have been sufficient. We might have avoided the collapse of Wuhan’s medical system.”

Other experts noted that the Chinese government may have waited on warning the public to stave off hysteria, and that it did act quickly in private during that time.

But the six-day delay by China’s leaders in Beijing came on top of almost two weeks during which the national Center for Disease Control did not register any cases from local officials, internal bulletins obtained by the AP confirm. Yet during that time, from Jan. 5 to Jan. 17, hundreds of patients were appearing in hospitals not just in Wuhan but across the country.

It’s uncertain whether it was local officials who failed to report cases or national officials who failed to record them. It’s also not clear exactly what officials knew at the time in Wuhan, which only opened back up last week with restrictions after its quarantine.

But what is clear, experts say, is that China’s rigid controls on information, bureaucratic hurdles and a reluctance to send bad news up the chain of command muffled early warnings. The punishment of eight doctors for “rumor-mongering,” broadcast on national television on Jan. 2, sent a chill through the city’s hospitals."

"China criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to temporarily halt funding to the World Health Organization and pledged to support the global health body.

Trump on Tuesday said he ordered the move against the WHO because it took China’s claims about the coronavirus “at face value” and failed to share information about the pandemic as it spread. China has “serious concerns” about the decision and called on the U.S. to fulfill its responsibilities, foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.

“This U.S. decision will weaken the WHO’s capabilities and undermine international cooperation,” Zhao said, adding: “China will as always support the WHO in playing an important role in international public health and global anti-epidemic response.”"

Social Distancing Efforts Are Now Cemented Into American Life

Avoiding public transportation such as planes, buses, subways or trains (89%) and small gatherings (84%) has become the norm for more than eight in 10 Americans. Nearly as many Americans are avoiding public places such as stores and restaurants (78%) out of concern about COVID-19. A smaller majority of U.S. adults (61%) have stocked up on food, medical or cleaning supplies.

Majorities of Americans have reported taking each of these actions since Gallup polling conducted March 20-22, and figures for most measures have remained at about their current levels since then.

The latest results, from a probability-based Gallup Panel survey conducted online April 6-9, reflect Americans' reported actions they have taken to socially distance themselves since late March.

Some notable differences by subgroup include:

Adults aged 18 to 44 are a bit more likely than older adults to have taken each of these actions.

Solid majorities within all major political party groups report having taken these measures - but Democrats are most likely to report having done so. The biggest differences between Democrats and Republicans are seen in the percentages saying they've avoided public places (86% among Democrats and 70% among Republicans) and avoided small gatherings (92% among Democrats and 74% among Republicans).

Few differences exist across income groups in terms of actions they have taken - except for the percentages saying they've stocked up on food, medical or cleaning supplies. While at least six in 10 higher-income households (66%) and middle-income households (61%) report having stocked up, less than half of lower-income households (49%) say the same.

I am not sure if this is an endorsement...or NOT. Summary: "Chloroquine may or may not have saved our lives, but the little people should not try it because it made me poop."

I think what happened was people "in the know" ([them]) were going to all use Chloroquine (or the newer version), so they were not worried about it. It would only kill the little people sheep in droves, so no worries. But POTUS let the cat out of the bag, and blew up that part of their plan.

A controversial drug heralded by some as a coronavirus cure comes with symptoms of its own, Rita Wilson says.

The actress, 63, says she was given chloroquine after she and husband Tom Hanks tested positive for COVID-19 while in Australia last month. The malaria treatment may or may not have helped her beat the virus, but it certainly gave her “extreme side effects,” she tells Gayle King on Tuesday’s “CBS This Morning.”

After getting the chloroquine, Wilson became “completely nauseous” and experienced vertigo and weakened muscles, she warns.

“We have to be very considerate about this drug,” she says. “We don’t know if it’s safe in this case.”

Despite thousands of seriously ill coronavirus patients being treated with a newer version of the drug called hydroxychloroquine, federal agencies stockpiling it and individuals claiming the drug saved them from the coronavirus, significant testing is still required before it can be deemed safe.

Groups of doctors have called it the most effective coronavirus treatment, but in some cases, it may treat the disease only to prove independently lethal: Researchers called off a small Brazilian study of the drug on Monday after participants experienced potentially fatal heart complications.

Wilson and Hanks were among the first Hollywood elites to announce they’d tested positive for the coronavirus, and have since recovered and returned home to the US.

Hanks, 63, appeared on a remote version of “Saturday Night Live” from his home this month.

"Fox Business host Lou Dobbs said there "could be" more to former President Barack Obama's endorsement of Joe Biden than meets the eye.

During an interview with Rep. Jim Jordan, Dobbs raised the idea that the endorsement Tuesday in the Democratic primary contest could be tied to U.S. Attorney John Durham's review of the Russia investigation.

"One has to wonder why President Obama chose this moment," Dobbs said on his show. "It could be because of reports now that John Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, who's been charged by the attorney general with investigating the so-called investigators, John Brennan, the CIA director under Obama, is the leading target, we are told."

He was referring to a Wall Street Journal report earlier this month in which sources said Durham is increasingly focused on former CIA Director John Brennan and drove to Washington, D.C., to make sure the investigation stayed on track during the coronavirus outbreak.

Jordan, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, did not directly address Dobbs's thought about Obama, instead mentioning how there were a couple "key" developments last week in the so-called Russiagate controversy, including the declassification of footnotes in a Justice Department inspector general report showing the FBI received classified reports in 2017, which identified that parts of British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s anti-Trump dossier were likely influenced by Russian disinformation.

The Ohio congressman added that Attorney General William Barr and Durham are "getting to the bottom of this" and hopes to see the investigation end sometime in the summer.

While the president and his allies have championed the investigation, Democrats have criticized Durham's review as a politically motivated scheme to undermine the work of special counsel Robert Mueller and attack President Trump's perceived enemies.

Obama's endorsement came after Biden's last remaining primary rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, endorsed Biden on Monday.

Obama said in a video that his former vice president "has all the qualities we need in a president right now" and called on "Americans of goodwill to unite in a great awakening against a politics that too often has been characterized by corruption, carelessness, self-dealing, disinformation, ignorance, and just plain meanness."

The US military looked ‘hard’ at rumors the coronavirus came from a laboratory in Wuhan, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told reporters, but the evidence so far is ‘inconclusive’ and points to it emerging naturally.

“It should be no surprise to you that we have taken a keen interest in that, and we have had a lot of intelligence take a hard look at that,” General Mark Milley said at a news briefing on Tuesday.

At this point it’s inconclusive, although the weight of evidence seems to indicate natural, but we do not know for sure.

His top medical officer, Joint Staff Surgeon Brigadier-General Paul Freidrichs, flatly answered“No” when asked the same question last week."

"U.S. equity futures are pointing to a lower open on Wednesday, ahead of economic reports that will show the impact of the coronavirus.

The major futures indexes are indicating a decline of 1.7 percent when trading begins.

Retail sales for March will get most of the attention. The anticipated 8.0 percent decline would be the steepest monthly loss on record.

Meantime, the New York Fed’s Manufacturing Index is expected to plunge to a record-low -35.0 in April.

Industrial production for the month of March is expected to tumble 4 percent, the largest decline since September 2008 at the height of the great recession.

The NAHB’s home builder sentiment index for April is expected to plunge to 55, the lowest since May 2015.

On Tuesday, the International Monetary Fund said the global economy will suffer its worst year since the Great Depression of the 1930s due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The IMF's latest forecast said this year's global economic output will shrink by 3 percent, a bigger loss than 2009's 0.1 percent decline. That was a marked reverse from the Fund's previous forecast in January of 3.3 percent growth before the virus prompted governments to shut down factories, travel and other industries."

"More than 100 protesters rallied outside the General Assembly in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, on Tuesday morning, lambasting Gov. Roy Cooper’s stay-at-home restrictions and calling for businesses to reopen amid the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic.

The protest, organized by Facebook group ReopenNC, saw police trying to contain demonstrators as they shunned social distancing measures and limits on public gathering to urge Cooper to lift the stay-at-home order issued on March 27 and allow non-essential businesses to reopen.

“Apportioning blame doesn't help. The virus knows no borders,” Maas wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said that he had suspended the funding of the WHO pending a review to assess the "organization's role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus." He accused the UN-led organization of failing to accurately report information about Covid-19 during the early stages of the outbreak.

The US had been among the WHO’s top donors, contributing $893 million, or about 15 percent, of the agency’s current two-year budget."

"Congrats to FBI Director Christopher Wray and U.S. Attorney General William Barr for allowing a top FBI intelligence analyst to walk away free from potential possession of child pornography charges.

The Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) initiated this investigation upon the receipt of information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Inspection Division (INSD) alleging that a then FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst (SIA) had stated, during a routine FBI security inquiry, that the SIA had viewed and downloaded child pornography from the internet several years earlier. The SIA denied ever receiving or sending child pornography.

The OIG obtained and forensically examined the SIA’s personal and FBI issued devices. Our examination identified pornographic images on the SIA’s personal devices, and the OIG took several steps to determine whether the images represented child pornography, including providing such images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Based on the SIA’s statements during the security interview, the OIG investigation concluded that the SIA had knowingly possessed child pornography, in violation of federal law and FBI policy.

The SIA was summarily dismissed by the FBI while the OIG investigation was pending.

Prosecution of the SIA was declined.

The OIG has completed its investigation and provided its report to the FBI."

BofA Profit Plunges 45% On $4.8 Billion In Expected Credit Losses From chinavirus

Bank of America joined JPMorgan and Wells Fargo in setting aside billions of dollars for upcoming loan losses as the bank braces for a surge in defaults and delinquencies on its loans amid the complete US economic shut down.

The bank reports $22.8 billion in revenue (missing the exp. $22.91BN) generating $0.40 in EPS (missing the exp. $0.46) and $4.0 billion in profit, which was down 45% from the $7.3 billion last year. As the bank allocated $4.76 billion for loan losses (above the $3.93BN expected), an increase of $3.7 billion Y/Y and the most since 2010, as its business and household clients reel from the coronavirus pandemic. The bank joins competitors JPMorgan and Wells Fargo which posted their highest provisions in a decade Tuesday (JPMorgan set aside a little over $8 billion, Wells used $4 billion as the appropriate number).

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan urged its citizens on Wednesday to stay home, as media reports warned that as many as 400,000 of them could die of the coronavirus without urgent action, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe came under pressure to hand out more cash.

Japan, which tests only people with symptoms of the coronavirus, has so far recorded more than 9,000 infections, including passenger who caught the virus on a cruise ship, with nearly 200 deaths.

Reports in Japanese media citing an undisclosed health ministry projection said fatalities could reach the 400,000-mark without mitigation measures. It also estimated that as many as 850,000 people could need ventilators.

Japan has seen an accelerating infection rate in recent weeks, particularly in Tokyo. The government has responded by declaring an emergency in Tokyo and six other areas including Osaka, and a goal to cut interactions between people by 70 percent.

The measures include a request that people isolate and businesses close, although there are no fines or penalties to force compliance. The government spokesman, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, urged people to do everything in their power to help the government reach its target.

Japan’s capital on Wednesday announced 127 new cases, with at least 327 nationwide, according to Kyodo newswire.

A lawmaker, Takashi Takai, was forced to resign from the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan on Wednesday, after media reported he had visited a bar in Tokyo’s Kabukicho red light district despite the call to stay at home."

For most of those students, this is one of the longest stretches in their lifetimes without a school shooting. “Six years ago, Bloomberg News killed an investigation into the wealth of Communist Party elites in China, fearful of repercussions by the Chinese government,” reports the far-left NPR.

Bloomberg “successfully silenced the reporters involved. And it sought to keep the spouse of one of the reporters quiet, too.”

So according to NPR, the Chinese ambassador got wind of an embarrassing story and warned Bloomberg to not publish. The story was published, but the reporter, Mike Forsythe, who is now with the far-left New York Times, began receiving death threats that were “relayed through other journalists.” This forced Forsythe and his wife, Leta Hong Fincher, to flee Hong Kong.

The problem with Bloomberg began when “the reporting team pursued the next chapter, focusing on Chinese leaders’ ties to the country’s richest man, Wang Jianlin.”

This story was killed. It never ran.

According to NPR, the reasons were finally revealed in an October 2013 conference call led by Bloomberg’s then-editor-in-chief and co-founder, Matthew Winkler (pictured). Someone recorded the call, and NPR says it obtained the recording.

The alleged transcript reveals what any serious media watcher already knows: America’s elite media kowtow to the communist Chinese in the exact same way the media kowtowed to the communist Soviet Union decades ago. What’s astounding here is that Winkler is quoted as calling the Chinese elites “Nazis” yet warns his staff to make sure said Nazis don’t feel “judged” by their coverage. So, day by day in the pages of Bloomberg News, we have Republicans all but accused of being racist Nazis while the people who are understood to be actual racist Nazis (with real concentration camps for a religious minority) must be placated.

Only an idiot would believe Bloomberg News is some kind of outlier, especially when we have seen how CNNLOL, the far-left Washington Post, far-left NBC News, and others have carried communist China’s water in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

At the time of those remarks, Mike Bloomberg was still mayor of New York. He returned to his company two months later. Later that year, Forsythe was suspended after the company accused him of “leaking word of the controversy to other news outlets.” Eventually, he was fired, but he had already signed a nondisclosure agreement.

According to NPR, “Bloomberg News pressured someone else to sign a nondisclosure agreement: Forsythe’s wife, Fincher.”

She refused.

If Fincher spoke up, Bloomberg threatened to sue Forsythe for tens of thousands of dollars. Forsythe’s story eventually ran at the far-left Times, and Fincher told her story in The Intercept as the controversy arose during the 2020 presidential election over then-presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg’s history of nondisclosure agreements.

"New York City included thousands of deaths, some of which happened happened weeks ago, in its updated COVID-19 death count on Tuesday.

The newly counted deaths are presumed to be caused by COVID-19 because doctors were confident enough to list the disease or “an equivalent” on the patients’ death certificates despite the diagnosis not being confirmed by laboratory tests.

Officials added 3,778 “probable” deaths to the COVID-19 count (pdf), taking a number that would have been 6,589 to over 10,000.

The shift came after fire officials said there were hundreds of people dying at home every day in recent weeks."

DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Medical Center announced Wednesday 480 team members have been furloughed in an attempt to reduce costs amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The center says with resources redirected to COVID-19 care, some hospital units not related to the virus have been temporarily closed or ramped down. These steps meant reducing costs, hours worked and furloughing certain jobs.

All furloughed employees will be provided medical benefits support consist with their elections at no cost to them. Affect employees will be provided information on accessing "salary protection through state unemployment benefits available to them", according to DMC.

DMC's Chief Executive Officer Audrey Gregory, Ph.D., R.N. released this statement regarding staffing during the COVID-19 pandemic:

We remain on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, working together with our communities in Detroit to see this through. With stay-at-home orders and government restrictions on elective procedures, some hospital units – which are not related to the COVID-19 crisis or other critical patient care needs – have been temporarily closed or ramped down. We have taken steps to divert additional resources to COVID-19 care and other urgent medical procedures that cannot be deferred. This includes reducing costs, and hours worked, and implementing furloughs of certain jobs, where needed. This furlough impacts approximately 480 team members.

We are providing all furloughed employees with medical benefits support consistent with their elections and at no cost to them, covering the employee and employer contributions of premiums for medical, employee/spouse critical illness and supplemental life during this time. In addition, we are offering information to impacted employees so that they may access salary protection through enhanced state unemployment benefits that are available to them. For many roles, these benefits could provide eligible individuals with a significant majority of their income as a replacement.

Our expectation is that we can return impacted staff to service once we navigate through this unprecedented time and our core business gets back to normal. These actions do not impact direct bedside nursing care for COVID-19 and do not impact emergency or medically necessary care access for patients with other medical conditions. We remain appropriately staffed to provide our full support to treat patients in greater Detroit.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The recent coronavirus pandemic has forced students to take to virtual online classrooms to complete their coursework. Even though it may take time for students to adjust to this new format, their education might not suffer, especially if they are in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields.

A new study led by Cornell University researchers shows that STEM students learn just as much in online classrooms as they do in traditional in-person classes. Online courses might be less satisfying than in-person classes, but many more students can access them and they are much cheaper to facilitate.

The study’s authors wanted to know if it was more practical to bring STEM courses online. Research shows that there is a shortage of STEM professionals, and this is causing the global economy to slow down. This is no surprise given the immense cost of a high quality STEM education and the shortage of qualified instructors.

“Demand for higher education is surging in the digital economy we now live in, but the price of a college education has ballooned and we don’t have enough people to teach these courses, especially in more rural areas,” says co-author Rene Kizilcec, an assistant professor of information science at Cornell, in a university release. “This new study offers the best available evidence to judge whether online learning can address issues of cost and instructor shortages, showing that it can deliver the same learning outcomes that we’re used to, but at a much lower cost.”

"(Reuters) - Presumptive Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Joe Biden, who has vowed to pick a woman to join his ticket, said he would appoint a committee this month to help him vet possible running mates.

The former vice president to Barack Obama has said he would consider six to around a dozen candidates, including several of his former rivals for the party’s nomination to face Republican President Donald Trump in the Nov. 3 election. His plan is to select one well before the Democratic convention in August.

Biden, 77, has said the candidate should be someone who could step into the presidency if needed. He also has sought advice from Obama, who formally endorsed Biden on Tuesday.

“He said: ‘Look, one of the things that worked for you and me, Joe, was that I tried to find someone who had experiences or capacity that I didn’t have,’” Biden said of Obama at a fundraising event last week. “And so I’m gonna need a woman vice president who has capacities, has strengths, where I have weaknesses.”

No woman has ever served as vice president, although two - Democrat Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, and Republican Sarah Palin in 2008 - were major-party nominees for the office.

Here are some women who are likely to be considered, according to people familiar with the process.

Senator Kamala Harris

Biden said he would consider Harris, 55, for the vice presidential position a day after the senator from California ended her own presidential bid in December.

Harris, who was friendly with Biden’s late son, Beau, is aligned with Biden ideologically and is among the country’s most well-known black politicians.

A number of advisers have pressed Biden and the campaign to consider Harris seriously because the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants could help bring out the key Democratic constituency of black voters in a close election.

Yet several Biden confidants have expressed skepticism about Harris’ loyalty, particularly after her cutting criticism of Biden’s record on race during an early Democratic presidential debate.

Senator Amy Klobuchar

The 59-year-old senator from Minnesota defied expectations in the Democratic race with her strong showing in New Hampshire, and her endorsement on the eve of the pivotal Super Tuesday contests on March 3 helped Biden win her home state.

Klobuchar pitched voters on pragmatism and her appeal to independents and moderate Republicans, and some Democratic advisers see her adding to Biden’s potential appeal to the white working-class voters who voted for Trump in 2016.

Picking her as a running mate would be a play to help win important Northern states, including Minnesota, where Democrat Hillary Clinton won by only 1 percentage point in 2016 and which Trump is hoping to flip this year.

PARADISE, Calif. - The Vice Mayor of Paradise is in trouble with the law. Michael Zuccolillo was arrested on Tuesday after investigators say he sent inappropriate texts and lewd pictures to what he thought was a 16-year-old girl.

“I’m very shocked,” said Bille Vandavere of Paradise. “I went to a town meeting, he has always conducted himself as a gentleman.”

Folks in Paradise were concerned and surprised over the allegations against the Vice Mayor.

“I felt bad for his family,” said Tina Estes of Magalia. “I know he has a wife and kids, and [I feel bad for] the people that trusted him in Paradise.”

In a statement by Mayor Greg Bolin:

The Paradise Town Council members, along with many members of the public, were surprised to learn of Vice-Mayor Zuccolillo’s arrest today. This matter is very serious, and the Town understands there is a criminal justice process that will now take place. Since this is an ongoing criminal matter, the Town will have no further comment on this subject. We will continue to focus on rebuilding our Town and bringing our residents and businesses back home.

Investigators say a man told them he posed as a 16-year-old girl and targeted the Vice-Mayor. This was after the man apparently had some sort of bad business deal with Zuccolillo.

Detectives, the FBI and the District Attorney’s Office took over the investigation and say Zuccolillo kept sending lewd pictures and texts.

“It made me upset. I got daughters and I am a high school teacher,” said Robin Manzo.

Town Councilwoman Melissa Schuster said the town’s legal counsel says if a councilmember is convicted of a felony they can be removed from office, or if convicted of a misdemeanor, if it is specific to council duties.

Schuster also said, “My heart breaks for the community of Paradise to deal with this, on top of everything else they’ve had to deal with.”

Action News Now reached out to Zuccolillo and he said he will have a statement soon, however not at this time.

Zuccolillo turned himself into the Butte County Jail on Tuesday and is out on $135,000 bail.

Zuccolillo is facing several charges including arranging a meeting with a minor for the purpose of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior and communicating with a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct.

We know William H Gates II was a prominent banker and a lawyer in Preston Gates & Ellis and that he presided over many bar associations and organisation boards but there’s very little about his service on the board of Planned Parenthood during the group’s infancy.

The company spread from beginnings in Cold Spring Harbor genetics and virology labs on Long Island and Berlin, to become one of the largest organisations in the US, with the Rockefeller-Bayar Co, BASF and Hoechst petrochemical-pharmaceutical consortium all being initial funders of the group.

In 1994 the William H Gates Foundation was formed, managed by Bill Gates’ father, and three years later, the Gates Library Foundation was created, later to become the Gates Learning Foundation to reflect its expansion into broader education efforts.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was established in 2000 through the merger of the two Gates foundations. Its original priorities were global health, education, libraries, and the Pacific Northwest. In 2006 the foundation reorganised to comprise global development, global health, and United States divisions (a global policy and development division was added in 2012).

Also in 2006, the investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett made a lifetime pledge to the foundation of Berkshire Hathaway stock valued at US$31 billion, with Gates announcing his plans to step down down from his position at Microsoft effective 31 July 2008 to devote his efforts full-time to the foundation.

So, that’s the origins of Gates’ foundation, population control very much a core facet. I still haven’t got to the Monsanto bit yet, I’m saving that for the next part to this story.

Interestingly the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Planned Parenthood and the American Genetic Association are all still flourishing.

Judge OKs PG&E plan to pay $19M in fees from victims fund

BERKELEY Calif. (AP) — The Northern California victims of catastrophic wildfires caused by Pacific Gas & Electric’s decaying electrical grid will have at least $19 million siphoned away from a $13.5 billion fund for their losses to cover administrative costs.

A bankruptcy judge said he would approve drawing from the victims’ fund as part of a plan reviewed Tuesday during a court hearing. The decision came after PG&E and a committee representing the victims struck an accord on a $21.8 million budget for administering the $13.5 billion fund for the thousands of people who lost loved ones, homes and businesses during a series of deadly wildfires in 2017 and 2018.

PG&E will pay an additional $2.5 million to cover the fund’s administrative fees, but the rest of the money will come from the fund earmarked for the fire victims under the plan that won U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Dennis Montali’s blessing.

Even more money could be diverted from the fire victims’ fund to cover its administrative costs if PG&E’s plan for getting out of bankruptcy gains court approval by June 30, but misses its Aug. 29 target date for becoming effective.

The economic upheaval triggered by the coronavirus pandemic has increased the chances that it may take longer for PG&E to raise the tens of billions of dollars that will be needed to finance its proposed bankruptcy plan than the company envisioned earlier this year.

The uncertainty prompted the company to draw up a contingency plan that calls for the plan becoming effective Dec. 30, which would result in the fire victims having to wait until next year before the $13.5 billion fund starts to pay their claims.

If the plan isn’t effective until Dec. 30, another $21.2 million could be drained from the fire victims’ pool of money.

According to LifeSiteNews, a Catholic publication, the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association is charging UNICEF and WHO with sterilizing millions of girls and women under cover of an anti-tetanus vaccination program sponsored by the Kenyan government.

The Kenyan government denies there is anything wrong with the vaccine, and says it is perfectly safe.

The Kenya Catholic Doctors Association, however, saw evidence to the contrary, and had six different samples of the tetanus vaccine from various locations around Kenya sent to an independent laboratory in South Africa for testing.

The results confirmed their worst fears: all six samples tested positive for the HCG antigen. The HCG antigen is used in anti-fertility vaccines, but was found present in tetanus vaccines targeted to young girls and women of childbearing age. Dr. Ngare, spokesman for the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association, stated in a bulletin released November 4:

“This proved right our worst fears; that this WHO campaign is not about eradicating neonatal tetanus but a well-coordinated forceful population control mass sterilization exercise using a proven fertility regulating vaccine. Report: U.S. Military Planes Fly near Taiwan After China Threatens ‘Military Struggle’

Two United States military aircraft reportedly flew close to Taipei’s southern airspace on Monday, the Taipei Times said.

The newspaper, citing flight charts posted on Twitter, identified a U.S. RC-135W Rivet Joint and a Lockheed P-3 Orion in the airspace north of the South China Sea. Aircraft Spots, a military air movement tracker, posted the images.

The two planes flew at different intervals, with the RC-135W reconnaissance plane spotted first over the Bashi Channel, southwest of Taiwan, according to the flight charts. The Bashi Channel connects the South China Sea with the western Pacific Ocean and runs between Taiwan and the Philippines. China claims nearly the entire South China Sea despite an international court ruling in 2016 that its claims are entirely illegal.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) did not directly confirm the aircraft sightings. However, MND spokesman Major General Shih Shun-wen said Taiwan’s military is closely monitoring the nation’s surrounding waters and airspace.

The U.S. Air Force presence near Taiwan’s airspace on Monday comes as a direct response to China staging military drills near Taiwan over the weekend.

On Saturday night, Taiwan scrambled warships to monitor the movements of a Chinese People’s Liberation Army [PLA] carrier strike group, which was spotted passing through the Miyako Strait near Okinawa by Japan. The Miyako Strait is situated roughly 200 miles east of the northernmost tip of Taiwan. China’s first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, led the fleet.

The U.S. responded to this Chinese aggression soon after, showing support for Taipei by flying military aircraft near Taiwanese airspace later that same day.

“This is probably the main reason U.S. reconnaissance planes have recently been spotted operating near the Bashi Channel, to monitor the movements of the [PLA] in the area,” Su Tzu-yun, a senior analyst at the Taipei-based Institute of National Defense and Security Research, told the Taipei Times on Sunday.

Last Friday, China’s PLA conducted military drills featuring warplanes near Taiwan. At the time, Chinese state media said the action was part of “military struggle preparations against the island.” Over the past few months, Beijing has increased its aggression towards Taipei, with the PLA ramping up its activities around the independent island.

China views Taiwan as a breakaway province, despite the fact that Taipei has never been governed by Beijing in its history. Though it claims to be Taiwan’s ally, the U.S. has yet to formally recognize the island nation as a sovereign state.

On Sunday, a spokesman for Taiwan’s Presidential Office, Ting Yun-kung, assured the public that there was no need to worry about the nation’s safety and security.

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — The father of a Portuguese nurse who helped care for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson while he was in intensive care with COVID-19 says his son “got a bit of a fright” and initially worried he had done something wrong when he received an urgent call to come to the London hospital where he works.

It turned that Luis Pitarma must have done most things right. The medical team guiding Johnson's treatment wanted Pitarma to be on the team directly caring for the severely ill prime minister, the nurse's father said.

After his discharge from St. Thomas' hospital Sunday, Johnson specifically thanked Pitarma and a colleague from New Zealand, Jenny McGee, for the skill and devotion he credited with helping to save his life.

Pitarma’s parents first found out their son had the U.K leader as a patient after Johnson spent three nights in the ICU. Due to hospital rules, the nurse couldn't call to share the information until after Johnson returned to a regular ward.

“He said, 'Mum and dad, you’ll never guess who I’ve been treating - the British prime minister!” his father, who also is named Luis, told The Associated Press.

Luis Pitarma described Johnson as “very approachable.”

“My son asked the prime minister how he should address him. He replied, ‘Call me Boris, that’s enough,’” Pitarma’s father recounted.

He said his son was picked to help care for Johnson partly because of his medical training, which includes expertise in oxygenation — a key element in COVID-19 treatment.

Pitarma told his father he was involved in the “most crucial” 48 hours of Johnson’s week-long hospitalization, a characterization also given by the prime minister.

Johnson was admitted to St. Thomas’ on April 5 and moved to the ICU the next night. Officials said he received oxygen but was not put on a ventilator.

As well as earning Johnson’s public praise, Pitarma received a call from Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa thanking him for his role in treating the British prime minister.

Pitarma’s father, a gas appliance technician in Aveiro, a coastal city in northern Portugal, says he and his wife have since been bombarded with congratulations from family, friends and clients.

“We’re not used to this kind of thing,” he said in a Skype interview from Aveiro late Tuesday.

He said his son has worked in the U.K. as a nurse for six years. Pitarma's parents are “happy and proud” that his dedication has been recognized, the father said.

“To quote my son, he said he treated (Johnson) the same was as he would a rich person or a poor person. The principle is always the same: first of all, care for the patient,” he said.

UK: Border force brings another 72 boat migrants to shore

Four boats carrying 72 illegal migrants were brought to Dover on Sunday after the UK Border force intercepted them in the English Channel.

The first two boats which carried 22 men and eight women claiming to be Iraqi, Iranian, and Syrian nationals was intercepted by the Border Force and partnering agencies at 6:30 am. Three hours later, another RHIB (rigid-hulled inflatable boat) carrying 13 men who claimed to be from Iraq and Iran was intercepted, Kent Online reports.

Shortly after, the fourth boat which carried 25 men and four women who presented themselves as Iranian and Iraqi was intercepted as it approached a beach in Hastings.

All of illegal migrants were then taken to Dover where their medical conditions were assessed by healthcare personnel.

The news comes after a total of 116 illegal migrants were intercepted while crossing the Channel on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

In response to the illegal crossings, Tony Eastaugh, the Home Office’s director for crime and enforcement, said: “Those facilitating these illegal crossings and the criminals behind this trade are breaking the law. If someone facilitates an illegal crossing, we will enforce the law and seek to return those with no right to be in the UK.”

“We are working around the clock each day with the NCA (National Crime Agency) and French law enforcement agencies to arrest and dismantle organised crime gangs in France,” Eastaugh said, adding that extra police patrols were being deployed to French beaches.

Andrew Cuomo Orders New Yorkers to Wear Masks in Public

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday ordered New Yorkers to wear a mask in public during the coronavirus crisis at his daily press conference.

“All people in public must have a mask and nose covering and they must wear it in a situation where you cannot or are not maintaining social distancing,” he said.

Cuomo said he would issue an executive order on Wednesday, with a three-day notice to allow progress. The order goes into effect on Friday.

The governor said that it was fine for New Yorkers to go out for a walk but that they had no right to infect other individuals.

“Put the mask on when you are not in socially distant places,” he said, citing trips on the bus and subway or passing people on the sidewalk when six feet of distancing could not be achieved.

“You must wear a mask, or cloth or an attractive bandanna,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo said he would not level a civil penalty for not wearing as mask, but hoped that New Yorkers would follow his order.

“We’re not there yet,” he said. “I hope New Yorkers do it because it makes sense.”

We’re working side-by-side now in the Congo, the DRC, trying to bring the Ebola outbreak to an end. We’re working together on this coronavirus. I think it’s important for us at this point that we leave the analysis of what could have been done better and what maybe did well until we get through the outbreak and get it over.

MASON: But Doctor Redfield, if you cut off funding to the W.H.O., and this is a significant amount that they’re funding in the middle pandemic, what’s the impact internationally to fighting this virus?

Police State: British Cops Call For the Right to Invade Private Homes to Bust up Gatherings

British police are calling for expanded powers to enforce the coronavirus lockdown rules, including the authority to forcefully enter private residences suspected of hosting forbidden gatherings.

Under the current law, the police only have the right to enter a private residence with a warrant, or with the permission of its occupant, or in active pursuit of a suspected criminal, or to investigate a disturbance, or if they hear cries for help. However, the Police Federation of England and Wales is seeking draconian unprecedented powers from the government to allow them to enter citizens’ homes without a warrant to stop suspected house parties during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have asked they consider giving us powers around private gatherings or gatherings in a private dwelling. We have no right to enter a property and say: stop having a party,” a police federation source told The Telegraph.

“Some officers are having to work round it using other legislation that wasn’t designed for it,” the source added.

Law enforcement offices across the country have been flooded with reports of house parties from neighbours, with Greater Manchester Police disclosing that they received 494 reports from residents of suspected parties during the first week of the national lockdown.

Home Secretary Priti Patel is expected to block the request for warrantless searches of households. Ms Patel has called on police to refrain from adopting a “heavy-handed” approach to enforcing the lockdown.

“It would be a really big step for policing in this country that isn’t needed at this point,” a source inside the Home Office told The Telegraph. The source added: “If there are people at parties or BBQs the police can issue the fixed penalty notice as they travel to or from the party.”

The British government did permit a change to the Air Navigation Order of 2016, easing restrictions on the police’s ability to use drones as a means of dispersing illegal gatherings and spreading messages of health warnings. A similar move has already been implemented in France, Italy, Spain, Israel, and China.

Last month, Derbyshire Police was widely criticised after they posted a video of a police drone informing dog-walkers in the Peak District to go home as exercising in a park was “not essential”.

In response to the updated drone guidelines, the director of Big Brother Watch Silkie Carlo told The Times: “Drones are an extreme, militaristic form of surveillance. We’ve seen too many examples of police using them aggressively in place of measured public health communications.”

“Police using drones to surveil and bark orders at members of the public is usually excessive and counterproductive. Parliament should introduce stronger safeguards to circumscribe their use,” she added.

The tech magnate, worth $104billion, tweeted Wednesday saying the US' involvement with the WHO is more necessary than ever.

13 Gulf Cartel Gunmen Arrested, One Killed in Mexican Border State Clash

SAN FERNANDO, Tamaulipas – Mexican military forces arrested 13 Gulf Cartel gunmen and killed another during a recent large-scale shootout south of the border with Texas. Several SUVs with shooters carrying machine guns, grenades, and other high-powered weapons took part in the clash.

The shootout took place earlier this week in the municipality of San Fernando, near the Carboneras community, when a squad of Marines encountered a cartel convoy, a statement from the Mexican Navy explained.

The gunmen and the military clashed for close to an hour. Authorities were forced to call air support from a Blackhawk helicopter. One gunman died. Government forces managed to arrest 13 and seized two SUVs with weapons.

Breitbart Texas consulted with Mexican law enforcement sources, who say the gunmen were part of the Matamoros faction of the Gulf Cartel. In recent days, that faction, led by Evaristo “El Vaquero” Cruz, clashed with rivals from the Gulf Cartel faction in Reynosa known as “Metros.” Though the factions have been at odds for several months, the two escalated their fight for San Fernando and its drug trafficking routes in recent days.

El Vaquero led a social media effort to show himself in a positive light by having his gunmen hand out hundreds of food baskets in the rural communities around Matamoros and in Ciudad Victoria. The Gulf Cartel pushed photographs to local news outlets and social media influencers to pose as champions for the poor.

Oscar winning Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix has called on New York State to release some of its prisoners because of the coronavirus.

In a video shared on Twitter by the 'Release Aging People in Prison Campaign', the 'Joker' star, 45, speaks to camera about why he feels its important to release prisoners.

In the video, he says the spread of the coronavirus in U.S. prisons is a threat to everyone in the country.

The tweet began: 'A message from Oscar award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix,' who in the video says: 'I'm calling on governor Andrew Cuomo to take action in New York by granting clemency to New Yorkers in prison.

'The lives of so many people depend on his action. No one deserves to die in prison from COVID-19.'

New York's constitution gives the governor the power to grant clemency to any person in the state's prison system, meaning that Cuomo could reduce a sentence or grant release for any prisoner if he chose to.

ICE HSI launches Operation Stolen Promise

Targeting COVID-19-fraud, illicit criminal activity

WASHINGTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced Wednesday the launch of Operation Stolen Promise to combat COVID-19 related fraud and other criminal activity. The operation intensifies collaboration with multiple federal departments and agencies, along with business and industry representatives. Surging criminal activity surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic requires an equally robust investigative response to protect the American public.

“HSI will bring every asset to bear against anyone targeting consumers with financial schemes or fraudulent products that jeopardize the health and safety of Americans,” said HSI Acting Executive Associate Director Alysa D. Erichs. “This unified effort brings a whole-of-government approach to monitor, investigate and arrest those responsible for endangering the public with criminal acts of fraud related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Criminal organizations that have historically been engaged in financial scams are pivoting to exploit the coronavirus pandemic and the associated stimulus package for illegal financial gains. These networks are smuggling and selling counterfeit safety equipment and prohibited testing kits, medicines, and hygiene products, as well as running illicit websites to sell their merchandise. In the coming weeks, it is expected that financial fraud scams involving financial relief, COVID-19 stimulus checks, and traditional boiler room operations will increase. All these fraud scams also impact government public benefit agencies that are in the process of distributing aid and providing assistance.

As of April 14, HSI special agents have opened over 130 investigations nationwide, seized over three million dollars in illicit proceeds; made nine arrests; executed seven search warrants; sinkholed over 11,000 COVID-19 domain names and worked alongside U.S. Customs and Border Protection to seize over 225 shipments of mislabeled, fraudulent, unauthorized or prohibited COVID-19 test kits, treatment kits, homeopathic remedies, purported anti-viral products and personal protective equipment (PPE). The launch of the operation is in direct response to a significant increase in criminal activity.

Operation Stolen Promise will combine HSI’s expertise in global trade investigations, financial fraud and cyber investigations with robust private and public partnerships to disrupt and dismantle this criminal activity and strengthen global supply-chain security.

HSI is partnering with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Secret Service, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Working Group. Additionally, efforts span multiple HSI components including the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, HSI International Operations, the Illicit Finance and Proceeds of Crime Unit, and the Cyber Crimes Center (C3).

CA Mayor To Resign After Post Suggesting ‘Most’ Trump Supporters Have KKK Masks

Bill Kirby, the mayor of Auburn, California, has reportedly agreed to resign after sharing a photo online that suggested supporters of President Donald Trump have easy access to KKK hoods, and as such, could use the hoods as coronavirus masks.

According to Gold Country Media, Kirby agreed to pass off his mayoral duties to another council member at the next public meeting, at the end of April. The mayor did not, however, apologize for his actions, and only expressed “regret” for some of his comments, reports the news agency.

“Am I angry and frustrated? Yes,” said Kirby, referring to the president’s coronavirus response.

“Some people have viewed my posts, which were meant to be private and made out of frustration, as over the top. Some were, and I regret that,” said the mayor, in a statement obtained by Fox-40. “The president has put us all at risk. I believe history will judge those who stood up against damaging policies and ideologies and those who did not.”

The Sacramento Bee reports that the mayor shared the post last Thursday on his private Facebook page. The post, which doesn’t appear to have been written by the mayor, says “Good news for Trump supporters is that most of them already have masks.”

The post is accompanied by a picture of a person in a white hood, with a caption added by the mayor that says “True,” reports the news agency.

Below the since-deleted post, the mayor engaged with other people commenting on his post and allegedly told one person that he was just being “a realist.”

“If Hitler and everyone who supported him was removed from the face of the earth in 1939 the world would be a much better place,” the mayor allegedly wrote in a Facebook comment, reports the news agency. “The same is more true of trump and his supporters today.”

The mayor reaffirmed to Gold Country Media last week that he isn’t a Democrat, and instead identifies as a “fiscal conservative that believes in equality for everybody.”

Kirby also argued that many of the people who were angry about his Facebook post were not actually residents of Auburn, which has a population of about 14,000 people.

“They’re from all over the country,” said Kirby. “You look at all those emails, and see where they come from, and very few of them are citizens [of Auburn]. I look at them, I read them, but you gotta understand, it’s all over.”

The news agency reports that the mayor also bashed Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was recently hospitalized with coronavirus, and evangelical Christians, who he suggested were deserving of coronavirus infections because they “all vote for Trump anyway.”

“That right wing corona virus denier Boris Johnson just got hospitalized. Guess which 2 should be next,” said the mayor in a Facebook comment under an Atlantic article, reports the news agency. “God bless all those evangelicals going to church in large groups…. There is no cure for stupid…. But they all vote for Trump anyway so it is ok.”

ACLU Files Historic Lawsuit to Stop Surveillance Planes Above Baltimore

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a lawsuit in an attempt to stop the city of Baltimore from rolling out a disturbing aerial surveillance program.

The ACLU filed the suit on behalf of a group of Baltimore community activists who have raised concerns about the introduction of a controversial technology known as wide-area aerial surveillance which involves stationing an aircraft equipped with ultra-high-resolution cameras over a city to track all visible pedestrians and vehicles within that city.

The ACLU writes:

Imagine a day in the future when everyone, from the moment they step outside their home, has to live with the knowledge that their every movement is being recorded by powerful cameras circling in the skies above. Not just where they work, shop, eat and drink, and whose homes they visit, but details about their political, religious, sexual, and medical lives—all captured and stored in databases without a warrant and available to law enforcement upon request.

That day is here.

The ACLU states in the lawsuit that the program would violate the plaintiffs’ constitutional rights to freedom of association and privacy. The rights group argues that government tracking of everyone in a city would violate the Constitution’s ban on “general warrants,” which authorize searches under broad and vague criteria. The ACLU states that the systems violates the Fourth Amendment prohibition against “unreasonable searches and seizures” and the First Amendment’s guarantees of the right to assemble. The ACLU also notes that the Supreme Court has repeatedly made clear that the courts’ role when interpreting new technology is to protect the “degree of privacy against government that existed when the Fourth Amendment was adopted.”

The wide-area aerial surveillance technology—originally used for monitoring citizens in Iraq and Afghanistan in a program called “Gorgon Stare”—is yet another example of tools from the U.S.-led Global War on Terror making their way to American cities. Coincidentally, the company behind the technology, Persistent Surveillance Systems (PSS), was founded by Ross McNutt, a former colonel in the U.S. Air Force who worked on similar programs in the military. McNutt and PSS are now preparing to roll out the same technology in the skies above Baltimore.

The company has been promoting the technology to local police for years. However, the Baltimore police department is the first to embrace the idea.

Coronavirus: Israel's spy agency Mossad admits to stealing face masks overseas amid global PPE shortage

Israel's spy agency Mossad has admitted to resorting to theft to obtain face masks and other medical supplies in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

A Mossad official made the revelation during an interview with Israeli media.

The intelligence agency has and will use all means to procure necessary equipment during the pandemic, according to Ilana Dayan, host of Channel 12's "Fact".

Mossad is currently involved in efforts to procure supplies ranging from face masks to the mechanical ventilators required to keep some Covid-19 patients alive.

When asked whether those efforts have included theft, the head of the intelligence agency's technology division, identified by "Fact" only as H., affirmed: "We stole, but only a little."

Florida man arrested for threatening mass shooting at Publix because 'not enough people' wearing masks

A Florida man found himself in handcuffs for threatening to shoot up a Publix grocery store over the lack of people wearing masks during the coronavirus pandemic. Robert Kovner, 62, of Sebring was arrested Tuesday night and booked for making a written threat of a mass shooting, which is a second-degree felony, according to the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office. “Earlier today, we were made aware of a Facebook post that threatened a mass shooting at Publix. The writer was upset that not enough people, in his opinion, are wearing masks when they are out and about,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

Authorities said that all threats will be taken seriously during the pandemic despite tensions that have come with the state’s stay-at-home order. “We realize these are stressful times, but there is no excuse for making threats like this. It’s not a joke. It’s not just a bad day. It’s a crime. We will ALWAYS take them seriously and you will go to jail,” the sheriff’s office said. Kovner's bond was set at $30,000.

Florida is one of the hardest-hit states and has more than 21,000 confirmed cases of the virus, with at least 570 deaths. The state was one of the last major states to implement a statewide stay-at-home order, with Gov. Ron DeSantis initially leaving coronavirus restrictions up to municipalities.

House Democrats propose $2,000 monthly payments to Americans

House Democrats have introduced legislation that would expand the federal government’s coronavirus relief cash payments to $2,000 a month until the economy recovers.

On Wednesday, Americans who qualify started getting one-time checks from the Treasury Department of up to $1,200 per adult depending on their incomes.

But Democratic Reps. Tim Ryan (Ohio) and Ro Khanna (Calif.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would expand the payments to $2,000 on a monthly basis until employment returns to pre-crisis levels.

They argued that the expansion is necessary to keep up with the growing number of Americans facing layoffs, furloughs or pay cuts due to the pandemic shutting down much of the economy.

"As millions of Americans file for unemployment week over week, we have to work quickly to patch the dam — and that means putting cash in the hands of hard-working families,” Ryan said in a statement.

“A one-time, twelve hundred dollar check isn’t going to cut it,” Khanna added.

Under their proposal, every American age 16 older making less than $130,000 annually would receive at least $2,000 per month, while married couples earning less than $260,000 would receive at least $4,000. Families would also be eligible for an additional $500 for each child, up to $1,500.

People would be able to receive the payments through mobile applications like Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, in addition to direct deposit or checks.

The proposal from Ryan and Khanna goes much further than the payments established by the $2 trillion coronavirus relief package that was signed into law last month.

Under the current law, people will get a check of up to $1,200 if they earn $75,000 or less annually. Individuals making up to $99,000 annually will get checks prorated on a sliding scale.

Married couples can get up to $2,400 if their joint income is less than $150,000 per year, or smaller prorated checks for incomes up to $198,000. Families will also receive $500 per child.

The Democrats' bill would ensure that college students would qualify for the payments, as well as adults with disabilities who are claimed as dependents.

The IRS is already issuing direct deposit payments to people who have bank account information on file with the agency. Others will receive the check by mail in the coming weeks.

Ryan and Khanna previously introduced legislation that would provide checks for the rest of the year ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 for those earning less than $65,000.
