On Friday, February 26, 1993, Ramzi Yousef and a Jordanian friend, Eyad Ismoil, drove a yellow Ryder van into Lower Manhattan, and pulled into the public parking garage beneath the World Trade Center around noon. They parked on the underground B-2 level.
The bomb instantly cut off the World Trade Center's main electrical power line, knocking out the emergency lighting system. The bomb caused smoke to rise to the 93rd floor of both towers, including through the stairwells which were not pressurized, and smoke went up the damaged elevators in the World Trade Center Towers 1 & 2.[13] With thick smoke filling the stairwells, evacuation was difficult for building occupants and led to many smoke inhalation injuries. Hundreds were trapped in elevators in the towers when the power was cut, including a group of 17 kindergartners
Six people were killed, five Port Authority employees and a businessman whose car was in the parking garage. Additionally, 1,042 people were injured, most during the evacuation that followed the blast.
Also as a result of the loss of power most of New York City's radio and television stations lost their over-the-air broadcast signal for almost a week, with television stations only being able to broadcast via cable and satellite via a microwave hookup between the stations and three of the New York area's largest cable companies, Cablevision, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable. Telephone service for much of Lower Manhattan was also disrupted.

JP Morgan Eyes Plan to Tap Fed’s Discount Window to Break Stigma
A senior JP Morgan Chase & Co. executive said the largest U.S. bank planned to borrow funds through the Federal Reserve’s emergency lending facility in an exercise designed to break the stigma attached to that program.
Jennifer Piepszak, JPM’s chief financial officer, said Tuesday during the firm’s investor day in New York that the bank would borrow from the so-called discount window from time to time this year and had discussed the plan with regulators. The remarks come less than three weeks after Randal Quarles, the Federal Reserve’s vice chairman for banking supervision, spoke of the need to make it easier for banks to access emergency loans from the Fed.
“The discount window is meant to be used by healthy banks when it is needed,” Quarles said in a Feb. 6 speech. “While there has long been discussion about how the discount window is ‘broken’ because of stigma about using it, we know it is still an important part of firms’ contingency planning and preparations.” Quarles also discussed in his speech how improving access to the discount window could help enhance money-market liquidity.
The Fed’s discount window is meant to provide emergency liquidity to banks that otherwise have healthy balance sheets. Banks have become extremely reluctant to use it, however, because of the reaction it can provoke among investors, who may fear it reveals a more serious problem, and among politicians keen to attack bank bailouts.

Cal OES and FEMA seeking to get out of PG&E’s $13.5 billion settlement with victims
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services say they are taking steps to separate their claims against Pacific Gas and Electric, Corp. from the $13.5 billion pot of money set aside for wildfire victims.
Under the current plan proposed by PG&E and lawyers, victims would have to compete with the governmental agencies during the allocation of the $13.5 billion, expected later this summer. But the governmental agencies say they did not agree to that deal and are trying to get a separate settlement. It’s unclear if the strategy will be successful.
Several government agencies are asking PG&E to cover some of the costs associated with wildfires it sparked with faulty equipment. Most notably, FEMA is asking for $3.9 billion under a federal law that requires it to seek recovery from entities that cause a disaster. If it does not get money from PG&E, it may have to ask victims themselves to pay it back for some of the expenses, like emergency rentals, that were covered several times over.
Cal OES is asking for $2.6 billion, but that will likely be amended because some of the expenses are also being counted in FEMA’s claim. Cal OES’s total is closer to $250 million. Cal Fire also has a claim.
The claims have caused an outcry among victims and elected officials. They are concerned the governmental claims will reduce the amount distributed directly to victims. They have argued that the governmental claims should be dropped or be doled out only after all victims have been paid completely. Lawmakers from California wrote to FEMA and Cal OES asking for the changes last month.
“We believe all governmental claims from a settlement fund specifically created for disaster victims is inappropriate,” they said in one of their letters. “Both federal and state governments routinely appropriate funding for disaster response, and account for the projected costs of disasters in their respective budgets.”
In a Feb. 10 letter back, Cal OES responded that it would not ask for compensation from the victims’ pot of money.
“Cal OES has never taken any actions to have its claims against PG&E paid out of the $13.5 billion funds established for wildfire survivors and is currently taking steps in the bankruptcy case to remove itself from that fund,” wrote Mark Ghilarducci to lawmakers in the letter.
The agency is not dropping its claim, however. That’s because it is also required by the federal law, called the Stafford Act, to seek recovery, Ghilarducci said in the letter. FEMA may sue or withhold funds if California does not follow through, he wrote.
FEMA is also seeking to get paid separately from victims, said David Passey, a FEMA spokesperson. He said PG&E and the main committee representing victims reached the arrangement that bundled all the claims together “with no input from the federal or state government”.
“The federal government’s position is that its claims should be treated separately from the wildfire victim claims and not channeled to the $13.5 billion wildfire victim trust established under PG&E’s plan,” he said in a statement.

Pedophile allegations against MPs ‘should have rung alarm bells in govt’ but senior figures turned a blind eye – inquiry
Politicians, including former Conservative PM Margaret Thatcher, police and prosecutors “turned a blind eye” to allegations of child sexual abuse connected to Westminster and ignored victims, an independent inquiry has found.
The 173-page report compiled by the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse dismissed claims of a conspiracy involving an “organised Westminster pedophile network,” but did reveal serious cover-ups by British institutions. The review was published on Tuesday following hearings over the past two years.
The investigation, which went into allegations dating as far back as the 1960s, concluded that “political parties showed themselves, even very recently, to be more concerned about political fallout than safeguarding.” It goes on to say that the honors system “prioritized reputation” over the welfare of victims of the nominated persons.
The findings may prove to be uncomfortable reading for PM Boris Johnson. As recently as March last year, Johnson told LBC radio that money was being "spaffed up the wall" on historical child abuse investigations.

Assange tried to call White House, Hillary Clinton over data dump, his lawyer says
LONDON (Reuters) - Julian Assange tried to contact Hillary Clinton and the White House when he realized that unredacted U.S. diplomatic cables given to WikiLeaks were about to be dumped on the internet, his lawyer told his London extradition hearing on Tuesday.
Assange is being sought by the United States on 18 counts of hacking U.S. government computers and an espionage offense, having allegedly conspired with Chelsea Manning, then a U.S. soldier known as Bradley Manning, to leak hundreds of thousands of secret documents by WikiLeaks almost a decade ago.
On Monday, the lawyer representing the United States told the hearing that Assange, 48, was wanted for crimes that had endangered people in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan who had helped the West, some of whom later disappeared.
U.S. authorities say his actions in recklessly publishing unredacted classified diplomatic cables put informants, dissidents, journalists and human rights activists at risk of torture, abuse or death.
Outlining part of his defense, Assange's lawyer Mark Summers said allegations that he had helped Manning to break a government password, had encouraged the theft of secret data and knowingly put lives in danger were "lies, lies and more lies".
He told London's Woolwich Crown Court that WikiLeaks had received documents from Manning in April 2010. He then made a deal with a number of newspapers, including the New York Times, Britain's Guardian and Germany's Der Spiegel, to begin releasing redacted parts of the 250,000 cables in November that year.
A witness from Der Spiegel said the U.S. State Department had been involved in suggesting redactions in conference calls, Summers said.
However, a password that allowed access to the full unredacted material was published in a book by a Guardian reporter about WikiLeaks in February 2011. In August, another German newspaper reported it had discovered the password and it had access to the archive.
PEOPLE'S LIVES "AT RISK"
Summers said Assange attempted to warn the U.S. government, calling the White House and attempting to speak to then- Secretary of State Clinton, saying "unless we do something, people's lives are put at risk".
Summers said the State Department had responded by suggesting that Assange call back "in a couple of hours".
The United States asked Britain to extradite Assange last year after he was pulled from the Ecuador embassy in London, where he had spent seven years holed up avoiding extradition to Sweden over sex crime allegations which have since been dropped.
Assange has served a prison sentence in Britain for skipping bail and remains jailed pending the U.S. extradition request
Supporters hail Assange as an anti-establishment hero who revealed governments' abuses of power, and argue the action against him is a dangerous infringement of journalists' rights. Critics cast him as a dangerous enemy of the state who has undermined Western security.

President Trump on Tuesday said the United States is “very close to a vaccine” for the coronavirus that is sweeping the globe.
In a press conference in India, Trump also defended his administration’s decision to repatriate nearly two dozen Americans on a cruise ship who are suffering from the illness.
“I felt that we should bring them back, they’re Americans, we should bring them back,” Trump said.
“As far as what we’re doing with the new virus, I think that we’re doing a great job. I felt that — and the decision was made in Japan, let these Americans come back and we will see — but they were immediately put into quarantine. There is no problem whatsoever with quarantine.”

A leader of a Guatemalan drug trafficking organization was sentenced today to 23 years in prison for his participation in an international drug trafficking conspiracy, announced Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and Special Agent in Charge Wendy Woolcock of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Operations Division.
Waldemar Lorenzana-Lima was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in the District of Columbia following an Aug. 18, 2014, guilty plea to his participation in an international drug trafficking conspiracy. The court also ordered Lorenzana-Lima to forfeit $50,949,000.
As Lorenzana-Lima admitted in connection with his guilty plea, from March 1996 to November 2007, Lorenzana-Lima was a member of a drug trafficking organization that would receive, inventory, and store large quantities of cocaine from Colombia at Lorenzana-Lima’s properties in Guatemala, for eventual importation into Mexico and the United States. The court concluded at sentencing that Lorenzana-Lima’s conduct qualified him as an “organizer or leader” of the drug trafficking organization within the meaning of the applicable sentencing guidelines.

This is being discussed, within the circles of banking fuckery-the big boi's- right about now.
Index(s) are all down roughly 1% so the talk is most likely "wut are we gonna do if this goes lower?" You send out a margin call and the recipient responds with one to another client (institution) and it starts the asset sale part of this to fund said margin call. The overall index(s) are not down much at all-when you factor where they have come from. It's the constant piling on of paper that got us here so as it "arrives" at a point higher and higher it needs moar to keep it there.
The 10 year note is at all time lows this morning-this exacerbates the margin call issue. As the recipients of the call will need to decide what to sell to fund that request. Gov't debt is the most liquid-and biggest bang for the buck- and then come equity's.

As we list the worst of these subversives, bear in mind that the FBI in 2004 uncovered the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood's strategic plan to infiltrate the U.S. government and sabotage it "from within" during a raid of a Brotherhood operative's home in the D.C. suburb of Annandale on suspicion of terrorist activities. The hijackers got support from several Muslim Brotherhood mosques across the country and were handled by a key Brotherhood leader in America — the CIA-droned cleric Anwar Awlaki, now thought to be the U.S. field commander of the operation.
Let's start with Mohamed Elibiary, a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council who has met with national security staff inside the White House. He raises perhaps the most alarms.
Elibiary has been accused of "downloading sensitive material from law enforcement databases," according to the Investigative Project. Last month, he tweeted: "I do consider the United States of America an Islamic country with an Islamically compliant constitution."
In October, Elibiary blamed persecuted Coptic Christians for inciting violence in Egypt, claiming in a series of offensive tweets that their raising awareness of atrocities they've suffered promotes "Islamophobic" bigotry and anger by Muslims.
He went on to defend the recently deposed Muslim Brotherhood leadership in Cairo. In earlier tweets, he has praised Egyptian jihadist and Brotherhood leader Sayyid Qutb, a key mentor of Osama bin Laden.
On his Twitter account, Elibiary sports the Muslim Brotherhood banner. Why is he still advising Homeland Security? Most disturbing, why did he recently get a promotion in the midst of all this controversy?
Another national security adviser to the White House is Imam Mohamed Magid, whose father is a "Cairo-trained Muslim Brotherhood scholar," according to the Center for Security Policy.
Magid, who preaches at a Washington-area mosque, also serves as president of the Islamic Society of North America, which the government says is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood in America.
In 2008, the Justice Department ID'd Magid's ISNA as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror finance case in U.S. history. That designation was upheld by four federal judges on the basis of evidence provided by the government President Obama now controls.
Why is this man telling the White House and FBI how to conduct terrorism investigations?
Then there is Rashad Hussain, whom Obama appointed his special envoy to the Muslim world.
"Hussain has long been involved with various Muslim Brotherhood fronts," states a 51-page pamphlet on the Brotherhood by the Center for Security Policy.
Hussain previously served as deputy associate White House counsel. National security issues were among his areas of responsibility. Hussain helped draft Obama's 2009 speech in Cairo. Banned Muslim Brotherhood leaders were invited to the event.
If the Obama administration will not properly vet the advisers it plucks from the Muslim community, Congress has a duty to step in and do its job for it.
Given the degree of infiltration, a counterintelligence damage assessment should be ordered.

The Democratic U.S. senator from Minnesota wants to skyrocket the number of refugees taken in every year from President Trump’s cap of 18,000 to the Obama-era level of at least 110,000, Breitbart reported.
While Minneapolis has resettled thousands of refugees since 2009, almost none live in Marcy-Holmes, where Klobuchar owns a home with her husband.
Nearly 85 percent of all residents in Klobuchar’s neighborhood are native-born American citizens and of the less than ten percent of foreign-born residents, half arrived from China, India, Korea, Germany, Thailand, and Malaysia — countries from where only five refugees have been resettled in Minnesota in the last decade and none of whom have been resettled in Minneapolis much less Klobuchar’s neighborhood.
Klobuchar is not the only Democratic presidential candidate to call for drastically flooding America with refugees.
South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg recently called for an increase from 18,000 to at least 110,000 each year, calling for America to “restore” itself as the world leader in resettling refugees, The Ohio Star reported.

Wikileaks editor Kristin Hrafnsson was temporarily barred from the extradition hearing for publisher Julian Assange, who was reportedly handcuffed 11 times, stripped twice, and robbed of his legal papers after the first court day.
Hrafnsson was pulled out of the crowd as he attempted to enter the public gallery of Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday morning, he told RT, after someone shouted “Where is the WikiLeaks editor?”
Explaining that he was given “no grounds” for the order and was unable to locate the head of the court to get an answer, he recorded and released a statement denouncing his exclusion from the supposedly-public proceedings as “outrageous” and calling on the public to “demand some answers — because I’m not getting any.”
Assange’s father John Shipton also walked out in solidarity, while the publisher’s lawyer Gareth Pierce worked to get Hrafnsson permission to enter. He was finally approached and told “a misunderstanding had occurred,” given a verbal apology and allowed to enter the public gallery, but his exclusion was never explained. Hrafnsson has demanded an explanation in writing and a formal apology. The WikiLeaks editor was equally disgusted by the treatment of Assange himself, who was — according to his lawyer — handcuffed 11 times, stripped twice, and deprived of his legal papers following the conclusion of the first day of hearings. “How can anybody prepare for a trial when he is treated in this manner?” Hrafnsson asked, calling the UK’s handling of its high-profile prisoner “highly abusive.”
This is not a thing you should expect in a civilized country where human rights concerns are highlighted.
Hrafnsson is not optimistic about Assange’s future, noting that the “English court is being misled by Americans who are trying to abuse the process of extradition by mere fabrications.” The cramped quarters — just 12 or 13 seats in the public gallery, while the legions of protesters are kept outside the court compound “for no apparent reason” — are “totally inadequate for a trial of this importance,” he said, observing that despite London’s claims, the hearing is “not being held in public.”
Assange is facing extradition to the US, where he could be sentenced to 175 years in prison on a bundle of espionage and hacking charges stemming from the 2010 release by WikiLeaks of classified Department of Defense files that have come to be known as the Afghan and Iraq War Logs. The US has continued to argue that the disclosures put political dissidents and journalists in danger, but no names of “victims” or other proof have been supplied to back up that assertion.

As we noted in February 2019, candidate Trump’s unpaid volunteer George Papadopoulos was spied on by the Deep State through an individual named Joseph Mifsud.
Mifsud’s purpose was to plant information with Papadopoulos (namely that the Russians had Hillary’s emails) so that the same information could be retrieved from Papadopoulos and the Deep State could say that the Trump campaign knew Russia had Hillary’s emails.
Where is Joseph Mifsud?
In December Buzzfeed reported that Mifsud’s passport and wallet sat for 17 months in a Portugese airport.
The items were found by police in a picturesque coastal town in Madeira, a Portuguese island off the coast of Morocco that’s popular with tourists and best known for being the birthplace of soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The passport and wallet were found on Aug. 5, 2017, some three months before Mifsud disappeared from public view and six months after he was questioned by FBI officers investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mifsud reportedly was in fear for his life after the election of Donald Trump. He is a key player in the Russiagate scandal to spy on and take down Donald Trump by the Obama administration and the deep state.
Today there is a report from Italy that new bank accounts linked to Joseph Mifsud have appeared.

The FBI and NYPD detectives raided the Manhattan headquarters of fashion executive Peter Nygard on Tuesday morning in connection with an ongoing sex-trafficking investigation, according to the New York Times, citing two law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A forensic pathologist who gave critical testimony during the criminal case of Hollywood sex pervert Harvey Weinstein was hit by a car in recent days, LawandCrime.com has discovered.
Dr. Barbara Ziv is currently in the hospital following the attack with no other details about the situation currently known. She talked about “rape myths” during her testimony at the trial on behalf of the prosecution, blowing many holes through Weinstein’s defense

Last marshal of the Soviet Union Dmitry Yazov dies
MOSCOW: The last marshal of the Soviet Union Dmitry Yazov, who participated in a coup against then USSR leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1991, has died, news agencies reported.
Russia's defence ministry said in a statement carried by agencies that Yazov had died in Moscow at the age of 95 following a "serious and prolonged illness".
Defence minister between 1987 and 1991, Yazov participated in a coup attempt against Gorbachev in August 1991, a year after being awarded the rank of marshal.
The coup failed and its leaders were arrested three days later, but the attempted overthrow heralded the collapse of the Soviet Union, which was finally dissolved in December 1991.
Yazov was released from prison in 1993 and granted amnesty for his role in the failed coup in 1994

This is the way the the Banking system (All of it) controls the Federal Reserve as well as the highly compartmentalized system in which it processes transactions, relationship to the Treasury etc.-the Federal Reserve itself holds almost no gold. They own promissory notes from the Treasury Department.

This is the hot botato game played with "paper". It has not been done with paper for a long time. Oklahoma House Moves Stand-Your-Ground Law Forward, Strikes Down Constitutional Carry Repeal
Last Thursday, February 20, 2020, the Oklahoma State House’s Public Safety Committee approved a bill that would expand protections under the state’s stand-your-ground gun law while rejecting another effort to repeal Constitutional Carry, which was passed last year.
Stand-your-ground laws buttress the right to self-defense. They permit the use of force against perceived threats.
House Bill 3165, which State Representative Kevin West sponsored, shifts the burden for proving immunity from the defendant to the prosecution in cases where force is used. Traditionally, the burden of proof is on the defendant. Put simply, defendants wouldn’t have to demonstrate they were reacting to threats. Instead, the prosecution would have to prove they weren’t responding to a threat.

Nearly 60 injured, dozens hospitalized in German car-ramming attack on parade, police say motive still ‘unclear’
Nearly 60 people were injured when a motorist plowed his car through a carnival parade in the German town of Volksmarsen. The perpetrator has been arrested for attempted homicide, but police say his motives remain “unclear.”
The suspect, a 29-year-old male from Volksmarsen, drove his silver Mercedes through a carnival parade in the central German town on Monday. He was arrested at the scene, after his rampage left "almost 60" people injured, police confirmed on Tuesday.
Of the injured, 35 are still in hospital, while 17 have been discharged. Some 18 children were hurt, including a three-year-old.
The driver has been arrested for homicide, but cannot be interrogated yet due to his own injuries. According to some media reports, the man was known to police, and has a criminal record.
“The motive of the offender is still unclear,” state police tweeted on Tuesday. “The investigation is ongoing.”
A second man was arrested at the scene, and is accused of filming the incident, prosecutors told Reuters. His suspected links to the driver are being investigated.
Security at carnival events in the state of Hesse has been stepped up following the incident.
Public gatherings in Germany have been targeted by vehicle attackers before. In 2016, an Islamist terrorist drove a truck through a Christmas market in Berlin, killing 12 people. He fled the scene and was later shot dead by Italian police. Since the tragedy in Berlin, Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office said that they have prevented nine similar atrocities, including two last October alone.

US Develops Cryptocurrency Intelligence Program Targeting P2P Sites, Forums, Darknet Markets
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has revealed a cryptocurrency intelligence program aimed at identifying unlicensed crypto businesses using P2P sites, online forums, and darknet markets. These areas have consistently presented “a significant challenge to law enforcement” and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

A sniper who terrorized the D.C. area and was sentenced to life in prison may get parole after Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam signed a juvenile sentencing law into effect Monday.
The law allows prisoners who were convicted of crimes before they turned 18 and are serving life terms to be considered for parole after they spent at least 20 years in prison, Fox 5 DC reported. Northam signed the law into effect Monday, and the law ultimately ended a pending Supreme Court case regarding the Washington, D.C., sniper Lee Boyd Malvo.
Malvo was serving a life sentence after he terrorized the D.C. area in 2002 at age 17, according to Fox 5 DC. The young man was 15 when he came from Jamaica and met John Allen Muhammad, who indoctrinated Malvo and led him on a sniping spree throughout the United States that ended in 10 deaths throughout Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Malvo was sentenced to life in prison by a Virginia judge, and Muhammed was sentenced to death and executed in 2009, The New York Times reported.
His case was pending before the Supreme Court following high court rulings that juveniles cannot be given life sentences, and that life sentences should only be given to “rare children whose crimes reflect irreparable corruption.”
Both Malvo’s lawyers and the state of Virginia alerted the court Monday that they were in agreement that Malvo’s life term should remain in effect and that he would have a chance at parole beginning in 2024, Fox 5 DC reported.
The prisoner also faces six life sentences without parole in the state of Maryland, Fox 5 DC noted.
