I first posted this interview a year ago on August 1, 2018. It is interesting to look back at what he said in light of what has transpired a year later.

Dr. Steve Pieczenik speaks of the intelligence and military community that backed Donald Trump’s run for president in 2016. Dr. Pieczenik is a psychiatrist who worked in the military and the CIA for many years. He wrote the book on psychological operations (psyops) and has a hands-on knowledge of much intelligence that the average person cannot access. He also co-authored many books with Tom Clancy, which created stories about military and spy operations.

After the Twin Towers were demolished in 2001, various people in the intelligence community knew immediately that this was done deliberately by evil men in our own intelligence community. More than anything, Pieczenik said, this was the point where they decided that they had to do something about it. When Donald Trump announced his candidacy as president, these concerned patriots came together to back him and to take America back from those who were trying to destroy it from within.

This video gives us some very important information about what took place behind the scenes. Dr. Pieczenik himself essentially tells us that he was and is part of that intelligence team.

"First Blood" of the American Revolution shed at the Battle of Golden Hill

On this day in history, January 19, 1770, the "First Blood" of the American Revolution is shed at the Battle of Golden Hill. The Liberty Pole in New York City was first erected on the Commons in 1766. Soldiers in a barracks on the north side of the Commons saw this sign of defiance every day and tore it down in August, only to have 3,000 angry citizens confront them. Both sides were armed, but no one was hurt. The citizens erected another pole, but it was torn down in September. A third pole was erected, and this one stood until March 18, 1769, when it was torn down after that month's Stamp Act repeal celebrations.

Yet another pole was raised, this one sheathed in iron to protect it. On March 21, soldiers attempted to blow it up with gunpowder but failed. Two more attempts were made, but thwarted. This pole stood on the Commons until December, 1769, when the new Assembly complied with the Quartering Act by giving some money for the upkeep of the soldiers, an act which previous assemblies had refused.

This caused a new round of protests at the Liberty Pole and soldiers tried to blow it up on the night of January 13, 1770. They stopped when citizens from the local Montagne's Tavern sounded the alarm and ransacked the tavern instead. The Sons of Liberty called for a meeting at the pole the next Wednesday, but the soldiers finally succeeded in blowing it up the night before. When it was discovered, a mob of citizens approached the nearby barracks. The soldiers lined up with drawn bayonets, but officers corralled them back inside.

On January 19, several soldiers began posting handbills around town which demeaned the local citizens. Sons of Liberty leader Isaac Sears and others stopped them, but some escaped. Sears took 2 prisoners to the mayor's house and a large crowd gathered. Soon a group of 20 soldiers showed up to rescue their friends. The 2 soldiers in the house were alarmed by the crowd and told their friends to leave, which they did, but the crowd followed them, harassing them with epithets.

When the soldiers reached Golden Hill, a small hill where wheat was grown, another group of soldiers arrived. This emboldened the first group and they turned to face the angry crowd. At this point, one of the soldiers cried out, "Draw your bayonets and cut your way through them!" They attacked the crowd, which began to flee, lunging at anyone who came across their path.

Francis Field, an innocent bystander, was slashed across the face when he stepped into his doorway to see what was the matter. A food vendor and a fisherman were injured and another man took a near fatal bayonet stab. Finally, British officers arrived and were able to get control of their men. None of the victims died, however. The following day, violence flared again and a sailor was stabbed with a bayonet.

The Battle of Golden Hill is often called the "First Blood" of the American Revolution. The Boston Massacre would happen six weeks later. The Battle of Golden Hill was even more significant than the Boston Massacre in that it was a protracted skirmish that lasted several days. The Boston Massacre would earn the greater place in history though, because of the actual casualties that occurred... and because of the more skillful propaganda machine of the Boston Sons of Liberty.

Biden made his third trip of a busy year in the week after elections. It was part of what officials said was an effort to encourage political leaders to rapidly form a new government and press on with anti-corruption reforms.

"You must be getting tired of seeing me as often as you do," said Biden, before congratulating Poroshenko on peaceful elections and condemning continuing Russian aggression.

"America does not and will not recognize Russian occupation and attempted annexation of Crimea," he said. "We do not, will not, and insist others do not accept this illegal annexation."

Biden was apparently planning to unveil an extra $1 billion in loan guarantees to help Ukraine’s economy rebuild but changed his mind en route to Kiev.

Instead, he rewrote the speech he was to deliver to parliament in order to reflect growing frustration that Poroshenko was moving too slowly on corruption.

“And it’s not enough to set up a new anti-corruption bureau and establish a special prosecutor fighting corruption,” he said. “The Office of the General Prosecutor desperately needs reform. The judiciary should be overhauled.”

It later emerged that in private he told Poroshenko that the $1 billion guarantee was linked to those reform efforts, including removal of Viktor Shokin as prosecutor general.

Critics have tried to suggest that Biden was motivated by Shokin’s investigation into Burisma, which counted his son Hunter on its board. But the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, and other allies had the same objective, and Biden was repeating U.S. policy that had been set out by Washington’s ambassador to Kiev in the preceding months and was briefed by White House staff just ahead of the trip.

At the time, White House officials said the trip was to reinforce U.S. backing for Ukraine while the world prepared for the inauguration of President Trump, who was expected to bring a pro-Russia stance to office days later.

“The vice president's trip to Ukraine will underscore US support — and highlight his personal involvement in providing support — for Ukrainian independence, democratic development, prosperity and security,” the White House said.

During the trip he revisited the two themes that had dominated his visits.

“You're fighting both against the cancer of corruption, which continues to eat away at Ukraine’s democracy within, and the unrelenting aggression of the Kremlin,” he told members of parliament, warning them that Moscow and its supporters were intent on a return to rule by cronyism.

“Russia over the last decade or so has used another foreign policy weapon,” he said. “It uses corruption as a tool of coercion to keep Ukraine vulnerable and dependent. So pursue those reforms to root out corruption.”

The vice-president’s keen interest in Ukraine, his frequent trips and phone calls to Poroshenko, attracted questions ahead of that trip.

During that same teleconference briefing, the senior administration official said it was one of a number of countries, including Iraq and the nations of Central America, that Obama had delegated to his deputy as part of a “team effort.” But he also acknowledged the Biden style of accentuating the personal in politics.

“And so when he is tasked by the president to focus on an area, he goes out of way to make sure that he has a close personal relationship with the leaders involved,” said the official.

Two deceptions at the heart of Democrats' impeachment brief

In a newly released impeachment brief, Democratic House managers argue that President Trump must be removed "immediately" to protect the integrity of the current presidential race. "The Senate must use that remedy now to safeguard the 2020 U.S. election," the managers write. "The Senate should immediately remove President Trump from office to prevent further abuses," they continue. "He is an immediate threat to the nation and the rule of law. It is imperative that the Senate convict and remove him from office now." Democrats insist on Trump's immediate removal because, they argue, he was the knowing beneficiary of Russian help in the 2016 election, and if he is not thrown out of office right now, he will do it again. But in making their argument, Democrats make two critical mischaracterizations about Trump, Republicans, and 2016. One is flat-out wrong, while the other is misleading.

The one that is flat wrong is the Democrats' assertion that Trump wanted Ukraine to investigate "a debunked conspiracy theory that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 presidential election to aid President Trump, but instead that Ukraine interfered in that election to aid President Trump's opponent, Hillary Clinton." The problem is, the theory does not hold that Russia "did not interfere" in the 2016 election. There is a mountain of evidence that Russia interfered, and that has been the conclusion of every investigation into the matter, beginning with the first congressional probe, by the House Intelligence Committee under then-chairman Devin Nunes. The theory is that in addition to Russian interference, some people in Ukraine, including some government officials, also tried to influence the U.S. election. It was not a government-run effort, and it was on a far smaller scale than the Russian project, but it happened.

Trump and his supporters have long pointed to the example of Ukraine's interior minister, former prime minister, and ambassador to the U.S. taking to social media to condemn Trump during the campaign. They also point to a Ukrainian Parliament member's attacks on Paul Manafort and efforts to publicize a "black ledger" that contained an unverified allegation about Manafort being paid in cash for work in Ukraine. They also point to connections between anti-Trump figures in Ukraine and Fusion GPS, the American opposition research firm behind the sensational and false Steele dossier. Finally, they point to the mysterious actions of a Democratic National Committee employee who kept in touch with anti-Trump elements in Ukraine. None of that is definitive, but it is also not debunked. And it is not a denial of Russian interference but a recognition that in addition to that interference, some in Ukraine also tried to influence the election.

Nevertheless, in the brief, Democrats make repeated reference to their own supposition — that Trump and Republicans embraced "the theory that Ukraine, rather than Russia, interfered in the 2016 election." They even suggest that Trump and Republicans, in embracing a theory that they did not, in fact, embrace, were parroting Russian propaganda. The other mischaracterization in the Democratic brief is the assertion that, in 2016, Trump "welcomed Russia's election interference." The brief quotes special counsel Robert Mueller's report that the Trump campaign welcomed Russian help because it "expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts." That's not wrong — Trump did, in fact, welcome Russia-based leaks — but grossly out of context. The context is this: Trump welcomed Russia-based leaks about the Clinton campaign because the media were enthusiastically embracing and repeating Russian-based leaks about the Clinton campaign. Print, internet, TV, everyone, was accepting, repeating, and amplifying the material released by WikiLeaks from the Russian hack of top Clinton campaign official John Podesta. Perhaps people have forgotten how prominently media organizations featured the Russia-based material. If they have, here are a dozen examples of headlines, just from the New York Times and just from the few weeks immediately before the 2016 election.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — People in a southern Puerto Rico city discovered a warehouse filled with water, cots and other unused emergency supplies, then set off a social media uproar Saturday when they broke in to retrieve goods as the area struggles to recover from a strong earthquake.

With anger spreading in the U.S. territory after video of the event in Ponce appeared on Facebook, Gov. Wanda Vázquez quickly fired the director of the island’s emergency management agency.

The governor said she had ordered an investigation after learning the emergency supplies had been piled in the warehouse since Hurricane Maria battered Puerto Rico in September 2017.

Vázquez said inaction by the fired official, Carlos Acevedo, was unacceptable.

“There are thousands of people who have made sacrifices to help those in the south, and it is unforgivable that resources were kept in the warehouse,” the governor said.

Puerto Rico’s secretary of state, Elmer Román, told reporters that Acevedo had not told him about the contents of the warehouse.

News of the warehouse spread after online blogger Lorenzo Delgado relayed live video on Facebook of people breaking into the building. The scene became chaotic at times as people pushed their way in and began distributing water, baby food and other goods to those affected by the earthquake.

Delgado later told reporters that he had received a tip about the warehouse, but gave no specifics on when.

The mayor of Ponce, María Meléndez, said he had not known about the warehouse and its contents.

“This is outrageous,” she said. “Everyone knows what us mayors went through after Hurricane Maria to try and get help to our cities and how we’ve worked these weeks to provide basic supplies to people affected by earthquakes. Those involved owe us an explanation.”

Inés Rivera, spokeswoman for the city of Ponce, told The Associated Press that the warehouse is owned by Puerto Rico’s Company of Commerce and Export. Officials with the company could not be reached for comment.

The information upset many in Puerto Rico already angry over the government’s botched response to Hurricane Maria, with similar incidents of supplies going unused being uncovered months later.

Ponce is one of several cities in the island’s southern region hit by the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake that killed one person and caused more than an estimated $200 million in damage. More than 7,000 people remain in shelters since the quake.

The governor said she has sent the Senate her nomination of José Reyes, who oversees the National Guard in Puerto Rico, to be the new commissioner for the State Bureau for Emergency Management and Disaster Management.

That’s one crappy computer glitch.

Facebook was forced to apologize Saturday after a “technical issue” caused Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s name to appear as “Mr. S–thole” when translated from Burmese to English in posts on its platform, the company said.

The blunder was noticed on the second day of Xi’s visit to the country to sign infrastructure-related agreements with Burmese state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.

That meant Facebook users who translated headlines from local outlets would be treated to breaking news stories like, “Dinner honors president s–thole.”

Meanwhile, Suu Kyi’s official Facebook page was filled with the obscenity as she posted about her time with Xi.

Facebook’s system did not have President Xi Jinping’s name in its Burmese database, leaving the site to guess the translation, the company said in a statement. Testing the translations of similar words starting with “xi” and “shi” brought the same “sh–thole” results, it added.

“We fixed a technical issue that caused incorrect translations from Burmese to English on Facebook,” Facebook said.

“This should not have happened and we are taking steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We sincerely apologize for the offense this has caused.”
