The page is like "vaccine science" in that relatively meaningless "benefits" are touted like they are worth so much. In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” former acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Richard Grenell reacted to DNI John Ratcliffe recently declassifying documents that show former CIA Director John Brennan briefed former President Barack Obama on 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s “plan” to distract the American public from her email scandal by alleging Russian collusion ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Grenell said it is clear now the alleged Russian collusion is a “hoax” that “career intelligence officials” knew about it and kept quiet. He also proclaimed that “somebody needs to go to jail” for their involvement.

“We now know that not only was this a Russian collusion hoax but that it was known to be a Russian collusion hoax by career intelligence officials. And that’s a really big distinction,” Grenell told host Maria Bartiromo. “We now know that insiders in the government at the CIA, at DOJ, at FBI, they knew that this was a Russian collusion hoax, and they allowed it to go forward for a variety of reasons. They were convinced that Hillary would win, and they didn’t really want to challenge Goliath. They thought that their careers could be benefited if they just shut up. But here is the key to this whole argument, that politicians in Washington need to focus on. I would also say the president’s cabinet members and the inspector generals all need to focus on. Right now, we have Comey and Brennan and others saying that they didn’t know that this was a Russian collusion hoax. Their people knew, and so what we need to figure out is what level are these individuals going to go to jail. Somebody needs to go to jail and be prosecuted first, obviously, and this is a slam dunk. They lied to the American people. They knew a truth, and they hid the truth. This can never happen again. We cannot allow our government to weaponize information to hold it back.”

“The American people need to understand that those in Washington are hiding information from them,” he added. “They think we’re stupid.”

Sri Lanka turns to China rather than IMF to avoid default

Sri Lanka's ultranationalist government looks set to receive a financial lifeline from China rather than an International Monetary Fund bailout to avoid defaulting on foreign debts, affirming the Asian giant as lender of the last resort to the strategically located South Asian island nation.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's government desperately needs cash to service over $15 billion dollars owed to foreign creditors. China eased some of the tension earlier this year by injecting $500 million as part of a $1.2 billion syndicated loan from the China Development Bank. "We have been in touch with the China Development Bank," Nivard Cabraal, minister of money and capital market and state enterprise reforms, told Nikkei Asia. "We are now negotiating the additional $700 million." The second tranche is wanted for the end of the year. "There are options available for Sri Lanka to have inflows coming in from our bilateral partners, and we are confident that they will materialize," said Cabraal, who was governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for nearly nine years until 2015.

"If we have to go and hold the IMF's hand or if the IMF has to hold our hand that, I think, is a danger signal," he said. "We know we have to get our debt situation under control. Do we need the IMF to say that? No." Sri Lanka's preference for China is tied to the country's complex history with the multilateral lender in Washington D.C. Colombo has needed IMF bailouts 16 times over the past 55 years. That places it second only to Pakistan, which has gone to the IMF 20 times – making it the most IMF-dependent of the world's debt-strapped nations.

Only nine of the 16 IMF programs in Sri Lanka were completed. Sri Lanka last went to the IMF in 2016 during the right-of-center coalition government that preceded the incumbent Rajapaksa government. It sought a $1.5 billion extended fund facility, which came to an abrupt end with the new administration produced by elections in November. "Sri Lanka has a bipolar relationship with the IMF," Nishan De Mel, executive director of Verite Research, a Colombo think tank, told Nikkei. Like the World Bank, its Bretton Woods twin, the IMF is seen as having "imperial and colonial" trappings. "Part of Sri Lanka's political tradition views the IMF with suspicion, and going to it is presented as having a negative outcome," he said. Consequently, Sri Lanka has become a hunting ground for Chinese creditors with deep pockets. The Rajapaksa government was voted into power on the back of ultranationalist sentiments, and needs dollars to service its multibillion dollar international debts and to run a current account deficit estimated at $1.1 billion annually.

In 2018, Sri Lanka secured a syndicated loan from China Development Bank. Later that year, another Chinese bank offered to buy the entire $1 billion sovereign bond issue, a banking source in Colombo told Nikkei. The previous government declined "in the interest of diversity" ensuring it did not appear completely under obligation to Chinese creditors the banking source added.

October provided another glimpse of the ticking national debt clock. Sri Lanka settled a $1 billion maturing international sovereign bond at the beginning of the month by digging into its foreign reserves, which duly shrank to $6.4 billion. Far bigger debts loom with annual settlements of $4.5 billion to $5 billion due for the next three years.

NYT Reporter Who Got Pulitzer for Trump Russia Hoax Investigates Amy Coney Barrett’s Faith

In a lengthy “investigative” piece on President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett, a New York Times reporter — who was on a reporting team that won a Pulitzer Prize for its false reporting on the president’s alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign — analyzes Barrett’s religious beliefs.

Sharon LaFraniere had a co-byline on a Pulitzer Prize-winning story claiming that George Papadopoulos spilled the beans on the Russians having dirt on Hillary Clinton. As Breitbart News reported, recently unclassified documents and recordings show that Papadopoulos repeatedly denied any connection between the Trump campaign and Russia, debunking some of the Times’ prize-winning reporting.

In the Barrett piece, LaFraniere admits that “those who did agree to interviews had left the People of Praise community, their perspectives were more likely to be negative,” and that Barrett and her family declined to be interviewed. She also reported that the Times could not confirm if Barrett and her family are still part of the People of Praise.

“The People of Praise declined to confirm Judge Barrett’s membership,” the Times reported. “But a photocopy of an undated membership directory obtained by the New York Times includes Judge Barrett, her husband, Jesse, and five of their now seven children.”

Nonetheless, the Times decided to put together a piece about Barrett’s faith — she is an unabashed Catholic — based on interviews with people who do not know her and others who chose to leave the People of Praise, a network of Bible study and worship groups headquartered in South Bend, Indiana. The organization was founded in 1971, according to the organization’s website, which said there are currently about 1,700 members in 22 cities across the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean.

LaFraniere’s investigation also does not include facts offered on the People of Praise website, which pops up at the top of the list on a Google search.

On the “About” page, there is a lengthy explanation of the organization’s mission and beliefs, which says, in part:

Jesus desires unity for all people. We live out this unity the best we can, in spite of the divisions within Christianity. We are Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Methodists, Pentecostals, Presbyterians and other denominational and nondenominational Christians. Despite our differences, we are bound together by our Christian baptism. Despite our differences, we worship together. While remaining faithful members of our own churches, we have found a way to live our daily lives together.

Our community life is characterized by deep and lasting friendships. We share our lives together often in small groups and in larger prayer meetings. We read Scripture together. We share meals together. We attend each other’s baptisms and weddings and funerals. We support each other financially and materially and spiritually. We strive to live our daily lives in our families, workplaces and cities in harmony with God and with all people.

Our community life is grounded in a lifelong promise of love and service to fellow community members. This covenant commitment, which establishes our relationships as members of the People of Praise community, is made freely and only after a period of discernment lasting several years. Our covenant is neither an oath nor a vow, but it is an important personal commitment. We teach that People of Praise members should always follow their consciences, as formed by the light of reason, and by the experience and the teachings of their churches.

The Times report said Barrett’s father decided to quit a promising job in Houston, Texas, because he and his family were happy living in Louisiana and enjoyed the close-knit Christian community they belonged to as members of People of Praise.

Contributing to the genocide is the vaccine pogrom which was also assisted (though maybe unintentionally) by Reagan. In 1986 a bill sponsored by Henry Waxman was passed and signed by Ronald Reagan which gave pharmaceutical companies and doctors administering vaccines blanket immunity from civil lawsuits for vaccine injuries. Most people don't know about "vaccine court" which was supposed to quickly resolve (at taxpayer expense) claims of vaccine injury, but is getting overwhelmed and puts people in an adversarial position with their own government when they or their children are harmed. Btw, it seems that only about 1% of injuries are submitted to VAERS (vaccine adverse event reporting). Without submitting a VAERS report I don't think a person can even get to "vaccine court" for any compensation whatsoever. Disgusting.

Radar reveals details of mountain collapse after North Korea’s most recent nuclear test

As North Korea’s president pledges to “denuclearize” the Korean peninsula, an international team of scientists is publishing the most detailed view yet of the site of the country’s latest and largest underground nuclear test on Sept. 3, 2017.

The new picture of how the explosion altered the mountain above the detonation highlights the importance of using satellite radar imaging, called SAR (synthetic aperture radar), in addition to seismic recordings to more precisely monitor the location and yield of nuclear tests in North Korea and around the world.

The researchers – Teng Wang, Qibin Shi, Shengji Wei and Sylvain Barbot from the Earth Observatory at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Douglas Dreger and Roland Bürgmann from the University of California, Berkeley, Mehdi Nikkhoo from the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam, Mahdi Motagh from the Leibniz Universität Hannover, and Qi-Fu Chen from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing – will report their results online this week in advance of publication in the journal Science.

That explosion took place under Mt. Mantap at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in the country’s north, rocking the area like a 5.2-magnitude earthquake. Based on seismic recordings from global and regional networks, and before-and-after radar measurements of the ground surface from Germany’s TerraSAR-X and Japan’s ALOS-2 radar imaging satellites, the team showed that the underground nuclear blast pushed the surface of Mt. Mantap outward by as much as 11 feet (3.5 meters) and left the mountain about 20 inches (0.5 meters) shorter.

By modelling the event on a computer, they were able to pinpoint the location of the explosion, directly under the mile-high summit, and its depth, between a quarter and a third of a mile (400-600 meters) below the peak.

They also located more precisely another seismic event, or aftershock, that occurred 8.5 minutes after the nuclear explosion, putting it some 2,300 feet (700 meters) south of the bomb blast. This is about halfway between the site of the nuclear detonation and an access tunnel entrance and may have been caused by the collapse of part of the tunnel or of a cavity remaining from a previous nuclear explosion.

Blast larger than Hiroshima bomb

Putting all of this together, the researchers estimate that the nuclear test, North Korea’s sixth and the fifth inside Mt. Mantap, had a yield between 120 and 300 kilotons, about 10 times the strength of the bomb dropped by the United States on Hiroshima during World War II. That makes it either a small hydrogen, or fusion, bomb or a large atomic, or fission, bomb.

The new scenario differs from two reports last week, one of which has been accepted for publication in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, that pinpointed the blast nearly a kilometer to the northwest of the site identified in the new paper, and concluded that the blast rendered the entire mountain unfit for future nuclear tests.

“SAR really has a unique role to play in monitoring explosions because it is direct imaging of the local ground surface, unlike seismology, where you learn the nature of the source analyzing waves radiating outward from the event at distant stations,” said Dreger, a UC Berkeley professor of earth and planetary science and a member of the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory. “SAR provides some measure of ground truthing of the location of the event, a very challenging thing to get at. This is the first time anyone has actually modeled the mechanics of an underground explosion using satellite and seismic data together.”

Syracuse police officer, 36, dies from carbon monoxide

Detective William LaShomb, 36, has passed away, Syracuse Police confirmed Sunday. The Syracuse Fire Department also shared the news and offered their condolences.

The Syracuse Police Department is saddened to announce the death of Detective William LaShomb, who passed away at his residence today from an earlier carbon monoxide exposure.

Det. LaShomb has been a member of the Syracuse Police Department for over 13 years. Det. LaShomb started in the patrol division and worked in various units until his final assignment as a Detective within the Gang Violence Task Force.

Det. LaShomb proudly served the residents of the City of Syracuse and removed numerous violent individuals off of the streets. Also, he served on the Department's SWAT team as a team leader.

Det. LaShomb was the recipient of several commendations and awards, including multiple Departmental Commendations, the Department's highest award.

Det. LaShomb, you will be truly missed as a Police Officer, and as a loving father, may you rest in peace.

Train Collides With Semi Stuck On Train Tracks In Indiana!

PENDLETON, Ind. — On Friday, the Pendleton-Fall Creek Township Fire Department was dispatched on a train versus semi in the 3300 block of Angle Road.

On arrival crews found a train had struck a semi cab with trailer at the railroad crossing at E Madison Avenue and State Road 67. The impact pushed the semi a couple hundred yards from point of impact. Both the train and semi caught fire, crews were able to fully extinguish the fire.

The driver of the semi was out of his truck before impact and did not sustain any injuries and the train conductor was checked out by EMS. IDEM was requested to the scene for HAZMAT clean up.
