After speaking to all the children, the kids gathered as a group in front of the exhibit and FLOTUS spoke to them in mass where she encouraged them to stand up for themselves. It was hard to hear all of what she said because the Marine band was playing.

FLOTUS then posed for a pic with the group of kids. Then Karen Pence, Betsy DeVos, Elaine Chao and SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza joined them for another group photo.

Joy, 10 years old from Michigan, wearing a white dress hugged FLOTUS and said “my mom wants a picture with you.”

FLOTUS waved to the parents and the kids “did a great job.”

FLOTUS departed the event at 10:56 am. She arrived and departed via motorcade.

Pool ran into Kellyanne Conway upon its departure. CNN’s Kate Bennett asked her how she was doing: “How am I doing? I’m good. I make my own choices.”

She confirmed to your pooler she is still speaking at the convention.She also said:==“The first lady’s speech is amazing. It’s the highlight of the week.”

Apollo Slips on Virgin Islands Probe of Black’s Ties to Epstein

Apollo Global Management Inc. dropped as much as 2.8% to the lowest since late June amid reports the U.S. Virgin Islands’ attorney general plans to subpoena the firm’s billionaire co-founder Leon Black about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

That may prove to be a “distraction that could temper net new assets,” Citi analyst William Katz wrote in a note on Monday, citing a New York Times article that said the subpoenas will focus on several entities connected to Black and to Apollo.

The trouble also “comes at a time in which investors are already questioning organic growth in credit following co-founder Mr. Marc Rowan’s recent decision to take a semi sabbatical,” along with eyeing “uneven dynamics” in private equity, Katz said. Katz also pointed out that Black has indicated Epstein did no work for Apollo. After his arrest last year, Black assured investors in the firm’s funds that his relationship with the convicted sex offender didn’t extend to the private equity company. He said that Epstein provided services to his family partnership and entities relating to tax, estate planning and philanthropic advice. Epstein died in jail while facing sex-trafficking charges.

A spokesman for the private equity firm told the New York Times that it never did any business with Epstein.

Apollo’s shares have shed 3.6% so far this year, less than the Russell 1000 Financial Services Index’s 12% drop. Katz kept his rating on the shares at neutral.

After her remarks, FLOTUS walked among the exhibit to speak to the children. She shook hands with a few of them and stayed one to two feet back from them as she walked among them. One little girl came up to her for a hug, which was given.

The children - there are about 30 here - and their guardian accompanying them were tested for COVID ahead of the event, according to an East Wing official speaking on background.

NASA Researcher Arrested for False Statements and Wire Fraud in Relation to China’s Talents Program

A criminal complaint has been unsealed today, charging Zhengdong Cheng, 53, of College Station, Texas, for conspiracy, making false statements and wire fraud.

Texas A&M University (TAMU) Professor Zhengdong Cheng is expected to make his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sam Sheldon today at 10 a.m. in Houston, Texas. Authorities took him into custody Sunday, Aug. 23.

Cheng allegedly led a team conducting research for NASA. According to the criminal complaint, for several years he willfully took steps to obscure his affiliations and collaboration with a Chinese University and at least one Chinese-owned company. The terms of Cheng’s grant prohibited participation, collaboration or coordination with China, any Chinese-owned company or any Chinese University, according to the charges.

“Once again, we have witnessed the criminal consequences that can arise from undisclosed participation in the Chinese government’s talent program,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers. “Professor Cheng allegedly made false statements to his university and to NASA regarding his affiliations with the Chinese government. The Department of Justice will continue seeking to bring participation in these talent programs to light and to expose the exploitation of our nation and our prized research institutions.”

“China is building an economy and academic institutions with bricks stolen from others all around the world,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick for the Southern District of Texas. “While 1.4 million foreign researchers and academics are here in the U.S. for the right reasons, the Chinese Talents Program exploits our open and free universities. These conflicts must be disclosed, and we will hold those accountable when such conflict violates the law.”

KFC will suspend its Finger Lickin' Good slogan after 64 years because it "doesn't quite fit" with coronavirus hygiene messaging.

The US fried chicken chain has released new images of advertising posters and packaging with the slogan blurred and pixelated.

All KFC restaurants in the UK were closed temporarily in March due to the pandemic but most have now reopened with stricter health and safety policies in place.

"We find ourselves in a unique situation - having an iconic slogan that doesn't quite fit in the current environment," said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC.

"While we are pausing the use of It's Finger Lickin' Good, rest assured the food craved by so many people around the world isn't changing one bit."

There are more than 900 KFC restaurants across the UK and Ireland, with 27,000 staff.

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. – The Air Force doesn't have enough aircraft or range space for pilots to train for combat against a sophisticated enemy, so it's looking to link real and simulated environments at a new training center.

Pilots taking part in Red Flag air-to-air combat training exercises could soon face new virtual threats on top of those they're seeing in real life. That's one of the possibilities leaders see out of a new $38 million Virtual Test and Training Center here.

Talk of stakeholder capitalism is now everywhere. It’s the theme of the Davos Manifesto 2020 announced last month by Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman in preparation for the World Economic Forum, where the world’s top business executives will meet later this month in Davos, Switzerland.

It’s also the new mantra of the Business Round Table as announced in August 2019 and endorsed by almost 200 CEOs of the largest corporations. “The statement rejects the whole idea of ‘maximizing’ one value to the exclusion of all the others,” as Steve Pearlstein in the Washington Post notes. “Instead, it acknowledges the need for balance and compromise in serving all of a company’s stakeholders.”

Paul Ryan-backed blank-check company files for $300 million IPO

A blank-check company backed by former U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan said on Monday it plans to raise $300 million in an initial public offering, joining the recent frenzy of Wall Street deal-making with SPACs. Executive Network Partnering Corp (ENPC) said in a regulatory filing it is aiming to sell 12 million CAPS, or ‘capital which aligns and partners with a sponsor’, on the New York Stock Exchange at a maximum price of $25 per CAPS.

Each CAPS represents one share of Class A common stock and one-quarter of a redeemable warrant, according to ENPC's filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Ryan will be appointed chairman of the company’s board, ENPC said. ENPC’s CAPS will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange after the IPO.

Ryan is the latest among a number of high-profile public figures and investors to join the rush for blank-check firms that has gripped U.S. capital markets in the recent weeks and months.

A number of big-name financiers and investors such as Bill Ackman, Michael Klein and Chamath Palihapitiya have raised billions of dollars for these shell firms through IPOs, with the aim of then combining with real companies in the next couple of years.

A special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) is a shell company that raises money through an IPO to buy an operating company, usually within two years.

However, according to ENPC’s filing, its structure is slightly differently from a typical SPAC, as CAPS minimize dilution and create “a process which is comparable to a traditional initial public offering”.

Joe Biden Fails to Condemn Kenosha Riots; Calls Shooting ‘Systemic Racism’

Former Vice President Joe Biden said Monday that the shooting of a black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin, by police on Sunday was “systemic racism.” He failed to condemn the rioting, looting, and arson that followed throughout the working-class city.

In a Facebook note, Biden said:

Yesterday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back as police attempted to restrain him from getting into his car. His children watched from inside the car and bystanders watched in disbelief. And this morning, the nation wakes up yet again with grief and outrage that yet another Black American is a victim of excessive force. This calls for an immediate, full and transparent investigation and the officers must be held accountable.

These shots pierce the soul of our nation. Jill and I pray for Jacob’s recovery and for his children.

Equal justice has not been real for Black Americans and so many others. We are at an inflection point. We must dismantle systemic racism. It is the urgent task before us. We must fight to honor the ideals laid in the original American promise, which we are yet to attain: That all men and women are created equal, but more importantly that they must be treated equally.

Biden omitted several key details from his account. According to the Kenosha News, police had attempted to use a Taser on Blake before shooting him. Video shows Blake walking away from police with guns drawn and reaching into his car.

Local police have not yet provided a full explanation for the incident, including whether the man was suspected of being armed.

Riots in Kenosha erupted overnight, with armed rioters confronting police. Police were attacked and stores were looted. The National Guard was deployed on Monday.

Biden did not condemn the rioting, nor did he call for calm or even peaceful protest.

These may include U.S. State Department Foreign Emergency Support Teams (FEST), which deploy in response to terrorism incidents around the world. They may also fly in support of CIA Special Activities. The C-32B has been associated with the 150th Special Operations Squadron out of Joint Base McGuire, NJ (previously designated as 227th Special Operations Flight ) and the 486th Flight Test Squadron out of Elgin AFB, FL. These are highly secretive units, with little information publicly available about their activities. The aircraft have been spotted in a plain white paint scheme, with minimal markings. They appear to change serial numbers many times - no doubt an attempt to keep a low profile.

The aircraft are modified Boeing 757 airliners. They feature a standard seating fitment, as with a typical passenger jet. Any cargo must be stowed at the rear of the cabin as the usual cargo space in the hold has been configured to accomodate enlarged fuel tanks, extending the aircraft's unrefueled max range to 6000 nautical miles. Border Patrol Agents Seize Drugs, Cash in South Texas

On August 20 at approximately 1:30 pm local time, Border Patrol agents in Rio Grande City were working in an area known as Eagles Landing. The area is well known as a narcotics and human smuggling corridor for the Gulf Cartel. They observed 11 people on the Mexican side of the river approaching the bank. Agents also noticed them carrying nine large bundles. As they entered the river and crossed the Rio Grande, the suspects hastily approached a white SUV parked on the U.S. side and began loading the vehicle.

Once loaded, the vehicle quickly fled the scene toward a warehouse. Agents were able to arrest four suspects at the location and seized all nine bundles later determined to be 347 pounds of marijuana.

Agents also found the suspects had a pistol, extra ammunition, and $12,757 in U.S. cash.

Breitbart Texas spoke with an agent about the incident who stated the U.S. Attorney’s Office refused to accept charges in the case. As a result, agents notified the Starr Country Sheriff’s Office for jurisdiction and charging.

The agent stated it is common for U.S. prosecutors to decline charges due to the overwhelming number of busts in conjunction with smaller drug loads seized. Border Patrol agents are routinely forced to contact local and state law enforcement agencies to take jurisdiction.

Australia: Authorities Give Themselves Power to Remove Children From Parents to Ensure COVID Compliance

Authorities in Australia have given themselves the power to have police remove children from the custody of their parents in order to ensure compliance with coronavirus rules.

Schedule 2 of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Act 2020 amends the Emergency Response Act 2004 to create new powers during “declared emergencies.”

Section 25 of the act states the following;

—Removal of children

(1) Without derogating from section 25, an authorised officer may, for the purpose of ensuring compliance with any direction under that section, remove a child from any premises, place, vehicle or vessel to a place of residence of the child or to a hospital or quarantine facility, as the authorised officer thinks fit (and may, in doing so, use such force as is reasonably necessary).

A child is defined as anyone under the age of 18.

As we have exhaustively documented, the state of Victoria’s coronavirus lockdown is one of the most draconian in the developed world.

Yesterday, authorities in Melbourne announced that they would be using surveillance drones to catch people who don’t wear masks and to keep track of cars that travel further than 5km from home.

Several videos have also emerged of police manhandling and choking women for not wearing masks.

Police have also been given the power to enter people’s homes without a warrant and perform quarantine spot checks.

Drivers are also being asked to show their papers at highway checkpoints simply to get to work.

Anyone caught outside without a mask or violating the 8pm-5am curfew also risks a massive fine.

Australia’s crackdown is rivaled by neighboring New Zealand, which announced last week that suspected COVID infectees and their family members would be held inside quarantine camps against their will for at least 14 days.

Bill Gates Secretly Dictates Global Food Policy Too

Bill Gates has built a global empire around his technologies and “philanthropic” endeavors, the magnitude of which is now becoming increasingly clear. His sheer wealth has allowed him to become a veritable superpower in his own right. He’s not only risen to become the largest funder of the World Health Organization and the unelected global COVID-19 health czar but he’s also a secret powerbroker of the global food system.

As revealed in the AGRA Watch report,1 “The Man Behind the Curtain: The Gates Foundation’s Influence on the UN Food Systems Summit,” published August 2020, Gates wields powerful influence over global food and agriculture policy through his funding of a large number of organizations involved in agricultural development and policy making.

Gates-Funded Organizations Defend Gates-Funded UN Envoy

While Gates is just one man, his clout is significantly leveraged and magnified by the fact that he funds such a large number of companies and organizations that can then do his bidding on the sly.

When you see long lists of groups, you automatically think there are many players in the game when, in fact, Gates is the singular thread running through most or all of them. The AGRA Watch report2 makes a perfect case in point with the story of Agnes Kalibata.

Kalibata is the president of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), an organization funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In December 2019, Kalibata was appointed special envoy to the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit by the secretary general of the UN, Antonio Guterres.

In response, 176 civil society organizations and farmer groups from 83 countries urged Guterres to withdraw the appointment of Kalibata due to her clear conflicts of interest with corporate actors. A second statement, signed by more than 500 academics and organizations, also opposed Kalibata’s appointment to, and her organization of, the Summit.

The Gates Foundation seeks to exercise influence not only through its funding of projects and shaping of expertise, but also in funding the governance platforms that determine food and agricultural policy. ~ AGRA Watch

That’s significant pushback, illustrating there’s widespread concern about Kalibata’s appointment. Coming forward in her defense were a dozen individuals representing development banks, academic institutions and the private sector.

They urged Guterres to retain Kalabata, citing her leadership qualities and work ethic, among other things. However, of those 12 defenders, “11 had past or current connections to the Gates Foundation,” AGRA Watch says, adding:3

“In some instances, the organizations were directly funded by the Gates Foundation, and in others, the Gates Foundation funded specific programs in which the signers had played roles. One organization was funded by AGRA, which is funded by the Gates Foundation.”

Gates’ Medical Plan: Global Immunization and Surveillance

One of the reasons many are now becoming aware of just how powerful Gates has become is because of his frequent appearances as the COVID-19 expert du jour. It’s an odd choice, considering his complete and total lack of formal medical training. It’s particularly perplexing in light of how the opinions of actual medical doctors, award-winning scientists and researchers who conflict with his views are being scrubbed off the internet.

Gates has repeatedly stated that life cannot go back to normal until and unless we vaccinate the entire global population against COVID-19. This, despite the fact that scientists and medical researchers have discovered a variety of safe, simple and inexpensive strategies to prevent and treat COVID-19.

The fact that Gates’ irrational and scientifically unsound opinions are shaping pandemic responses around the globe while real medical professionals are being censored by mainstream media and social media platforms is proof positive that we’re no longer operating from a base of science and medical truth.

Instead, the whole world is expected to fall into line with the self-serving agenda created by Gates and his many allies in technology and medicine. In an April 30, 2020, GatesNotes post,11,12 Gates even states he “suspect[s] the COVID-19 vaccine will become part of the routine newborn immunization schedule” — a nice little piece of predictive programming, if you ask me.

Mind you, the mRNA vaccines being developed against COVID-19 will alter your genetic expression, turning your body into a viral protein factory. Is it really wise to consider using such a novel vaccine on newborns? In a sane and rational world, the answer would be a resounding no. Unfortunately, we now live in a world run by Gates’ goons, and thus reason and logic have largely vanished from the equation.

How the Israel-UAE pact undermines international law

“Normalising” relations

Much of the diplomatic world has gone gaga over the 13 August 2020 “normalisation” of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates – facilitated by years of encouragement coming out of Washington.

In truth, this is but a quasi-new relation, because “Israel and the UAE have been cooperating and normalising relations under the table for many years”. The UAE’s agreement to the public upgrading of this relationship was reportedly made in exchange for Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s “suspension of plans to annex parts of the West Bank”. We can now update the old warning to beware of Greeks bearing gifts – beware of Zionists offering compromise.

Though the Israeli prime minister’s suspension of annexation is hailed as a major compromise on the part of Israel, it is more illusory than real. Both the Palestinians and Netanyahu himself pointed out that the suspension is not seen as a permanent one. The Palestinians and their supporters also quickly pointed out that this agreement changed nothing in terms of Israel’s illegal behaviour on the ground – particularly the de facto annexation represented by the continuing encroachment of Israeli settlements. Under these circumstances the agreement actually registers the UAE’s acceptance of this criminal state of affairs. The Palestinian spokesperson, Hanan Ashrawi, put it succinctly: “May you never be sold out by your ‘friends.’ Israel got rewarded for not declaring openly what it has been doing to Palestine illegally and persistently since the beginning of the occupation.”

Despite the fact that the change from informal relations to something more official and public meant little change on Israel’s part, the leaders of the Zionist state, the US and the UAE were determined to present the event in a way that would convince both themselves and others that something momentous had been realised.

The joint statement coming from the three governments celebrated a “historic diplomatic breakthrough”. Netanyahu asserted that the agreement marked “a new age in Israel’s relations with the Arab world”. He expected to see more Arab states follow the UAE’s lead. And, indeed, it looks like the disreputable dictatorship in Bahrain might be the next in line.

President Trump framed the event this way, “By uniting two of America’s closest and most capable partners in the region” – something which his egocentric worldview drove him to insist only his administration could do – “this deal is a significant step towards building a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Middle East.” Trump’s national security advisor, Robert O’Brien, expressed his opinion that the deal should “solidify a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Trump”. That would, potentially, put Trump right up there with the ignominious Henry Kissinger.

Soldiers and civilians killed in blasts at food plaza and church in southern Philippines

At least 11 people have been killed and 40 injured in a bombing attack in the city of Jolo in the Philippines while soldiers were helping with Covid-19 relief efforts. One of the attacks involved a female suicide bomber.

The first explosion occurred inside the Paradise Food plaza next to a computer shop in downtown Jolo at around 12.00am local time, killing five soldiers and five civilians, local media reported, citing the military.

Regional military commander Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan said that the bomb was attached to a parked motorcycle.

About an hour later a female suicide bomber blew herself up outside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel nearby, Vinluan said. The second explosion killed one soldier.

Photos from the scene show charred bodied lying on the street and rescuers treating the wounded.

No one has claimed the responsibility for the attack, but the southern Sulu Archipelago is a stronghold of the ISIS-linked Islamist insurgent group Abu Sayyaf. The group bombed the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel last year, killing 20 people.

Stakeholder capitalism is a system in which corporations are oriented to serve the interests of all their stakeholders. Among the key stakeholders are customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders and local communities. Under this system, a company's purpose is to create long-term value and not to maximize profits and enhance shareholder value at the cost of other stakeholder groups.

Supporters of stakeholder capitalism believe that serving the interests of all stakeholders, as opposed to only shareholders, is essential to the long-term success and health of any business. Notably, they make the case for stakeholder capitalism being a sensible business decision in addition to being an ethical choice.

It is interesting to find Dinesh's wife as an editor at Investopedia. It suggests that they may have some insight on these ideas. Don't know if this is a good or a bad thing, but it does sound better than what we have, and Forbes opposes it which makes me think this may be part of the plan. StakeholderCap meshes with Mnuchin's giveaways to the people to stabilize society and share the wealth that used to all flow into the pockets of the super rich who did NO WORK to create that wealth.

New York attorney general files legal action against Trump Organization in investigation of company finances

New York Attorney General Letitia James is investigating the Trump Organization to determine whether it inflated the value of its assets to mislead lenders. A Monday filing from the Democrat asked a state court to order the company and the president's son Eric Trump, the executive vice president of the business, to cooperate with subpoenas issued and provide financial documents as part of the state's investigation. "OAG is currently investigating whether the Trump Organization and Donald J. Trump (Mr. Trump) improperly inflated the value of Mr. Trump’s assets on annual financial statements in order to secure loans and obtain economic and tax benefits. One particular focus of this inquiry, as relevant here, is whether the Trump Organization and its agents improperly inflated, or caused to be improperly inflated, the value of the Seven Springs Estate," the court filing said, adding that the attorney general's office has not "concluded its investigation and has not reached a determination regarding whether the facts identified to date establish violations of law."

The civil investigation into the company began after Michael Cohen, a longtime personal lawyer to President Trump, testified before Congress in early 2019 that his former boss's financial statements, spanning from 2011 to 2013, "inflated the values of Mr. Trump’s assets to obtain favorable terms for loans and insurance coverage, while also deflating the value of other assets to reduce real estate taxes," the filing said. "Following that testimony, OAG began an investigation and determined that the financial statements were, in fact, provided to financial institutions."

Eric Trump has "no plausible basis to defy a lawful subpoena" as part of the investigation, the filing argued. The president's son was scheduled to be interviewed by state authorities in July of this year, but the documents said his lawyers later canceled that interview. “We cannot allow the requested interview to go forward … pursuant to those rights afforded to every individual under the Constitution," Eric Trump's lawyers argued, according to the filing. In response to the filing, Eric Trump accused James of exercising the "highest level of prosecutorial misconduct," attaching a video of the state attorney general in which she encouraged others to vote against the president and indicated plans to "definitely sue" him. "We're going to be a real pain in the ass. He's going to know my name personally," James said in the video that Trump tweeted out. In early August, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office also issued a court filing that appears to show that it is investigating potential bank and insurance fraud in the Trump Organization. Prosecutors did not explicitly identify the focus of their investigation, but they did say that "undisputed" news reports about the organization's business conduct provide a legitimate basis for their subpoena seeking the president's financial records. Those reports claim that Trump inflated his net worth and the values of his properties to lenders and insurers. The president's legal team asserts that he did nothing wrong.

State prosecutors subpoenaed Deutsche Bank, a creditor for Trump's properties as a private citizen, last year as part of their criminal investigation into the president's business practices, according to a report from the New York Times. Authorities reportedly sought to obtain all documents and records Trump submitted to the bank. Over the course of several months, the bank provided District Attorney Cyrus Vance's office with detailed financial statements and materials the president provided in order to obtain loans. Sources reportedly said the prosecutor's investigation is still in its early stages. In July, the Supreme Court ruled that the president must allow the state of New York to examine his financial records as part of a grand jury criminal investigation. The case, Trump v. Vance, pertains to the district attorney for New York County asking for eight years' worth of Trump's personal tax returns in connection with a grand jury investigation. The documents are material for which the president may not claim executive privilege.

CNN Cuts Out of Trump RNC Speech — ‘A Lot of What You Just Heard From the President of the United States Is Wrong, Misleading and Outright Lies’

Monday, the GOP formally nominated President Donald Trump for reelection. As Trump delivered remarks following his nomination, “CNN Newsroom” cut away from the speech and criticized him for his “misleading” statements and “outright lies.”

After cutting the interview, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper noted Trump went “negative” at the convention after promising to be “positive.” He added the president “falsely” attacked mail-in voting and “falsely” accused Democrats of wanting to shut down the country to hurt the economy and thus hurt him at the ballot box.

“After vowing to have a positive convention, the president goes negative in its first moments. He started off falsely attacking mail-in voting. He’s continuing attack mail-in voting and, as the postmaster general testifies that the attacks are ‘unhelpful.’ That’s his own postmaster general,” Cooper emphasized. “He also criticized the media for airing the postmaster’s hearing instead of his roll call. He falsely accused Democrats of wanting to shut down the country to hurt the economy and somehow help them at the ballot box. Unclear how angering the entire country by shutting down would help them in the ballot box. He attacked North Carolina’s governor for putting limits on crowds during a convention.”

CNN’s John King said Trump’s remarks underscore the “challenge” for those in the news business. He advised undecided voters to watch this week’s RNC to see that Trump is misleading the people and providing “outright lies.”

“This is a sad thing to say, but a lot of what you just heard from the President of the United States is wrong, misleading, and outright lies,” he stated. “Wrong, misleading and outright lies.”

CLAIM: The Never Trump-fueled Lincoln Project claimed that President Donald Trump “relished in” a delegate at the Republican National Convention shouting “monkey” after the president named former President Barack Obama.

Sukkar uses taxpayer budget to employ friend who also designed smear sheets

Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar used his taxpayer-funded electorate office budget to pay one of his best friends, who was also tasked with designing Mr Sukkar's political smear files and materials to solicit party donations, in potential breach of parliamentary rules.

Graphic designer Matt Pham, who chose Mr Sukkar as one of the groomsmen at his 2014 wedding and has been a close personal friend of the minister for more than a decade, was paid from Mr Sukkar's electorate office budget between 2016 and 2018. Mr Pham's LinkedIn account shows he worked in full-time roles for a real estate advertising company during the same period that Mr Sukkar has said Mr Pham worked "as a casual Electorate Officer in the Deakin Electorate Office".

Mr Sukkar defended giving his close friend work due to his "skill set and performance" as a designer. The member for the east Melbourne seat of Deakin is facing calls from Labor to resign from federal cabinet, scrutiny from an internal Liberal Party probe as well as a departmental audit. The revelations come as the fallout from the Liberal Party branch stacking scandal revealed on Sunday night by The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and 60 Minutes led to Monday's resignation from the party of powerbroker Marcus Bastiaan.

Mr Sukkar has retained the support of the Morrison government, despite evidence showing he backed a scheme to give taxpayer-funded jobs to factional operatives in the office of Liberal MP and party elder Kevin Andrews in 2017 and 2018. Mr Sukkar also employed factional operatives, including Mr Bastiaan's wife Stephanie, in his own office as electorate officers. He insists he has no knowledge or involvement in any wrongdoing or abuse of public funds.

An electorate office budget can be used to pay for mailouts to local residents and to assist a minister to conduct parliamentary business. The budget cannot be used to pay for party political activity.

Emails sent by Mr Pham reveal that he was used by Mr Sukkar's office to design flyers to solicit political donations for the Liberal Party's Deakin 200 Club in early February 2017. Taxpayer funds are not meant to be used to pay for any work done to facilitate donations for a political party.

Is the Postal Service a government agency or an independent entity akin to a private corporation. The legal answer - that it is "an independent establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States" - begs the question.

As a government agency, the Postal Service would normally receive government funding to fulfill functions that are deemed socially desirable, such as providing universal service or subsidizing materials for the blind.

On the other hand, as a private corporation, the Postal Service would recover its costs from revenue received from customers (mailers). Those costs would include reasonable prefunding of its deferred liabilities such as pensions and retirement health care. If a private corporation could not raise its prices high enough to cover costs (because demand would drop as customers go elsewhere or stop buying), then losses would have a negative impact on the corporation's shareholders.

But who are the shareholders of the Postal Service?

Mailers are customers of the Postal Service, not shareholders. Printers, mail fulfillment services and other vendors are contractors of the Postal Service, not shareholders. Postal Service executives and workers are employees, not shareholders. Shareholders of private corporations elect a board of directors, but the Postal Service Board of Governors is appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. So does that make the government the shareholder? That brings us full circle. No wonder we are all confused!

The practical implications of this confusion are everywhere. Should the Postal Service be allowed to "rationalize" its network and close post offices without restrictions? Should the Postal Service's finances be "transparent" for review by regulators - and competitors? Should the Postal Service receive government funds for the electrification of its delivery fleet or for energy-saving improvements to its buildings? Should the Postal Service be exempt from antitrust laws that apply to private corporations? (The Supreme Court said yes; Congress said no.) Should the Postal Service be considered a federal agency to qualify for a "bail out" if that becomes necessary?

Iran Money-Trail Links Hezbollah to Beirut Blast, German Newspaper Die Welt Reports

Huge Hezbollah-bound shipments of ammonium nitrate handled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Al Quds Forces, Western intelligence agencies say.

German newspaper Die Welt has published a detailed account citing Western intelligence agencies linking the Lebanese terrorist outfit to the carnage that killed more than 200 people and left thousands injured. Quoting Western intelligence reports, the German daily revealed that the Hezbollah received substantial quantities of ammonium nitrate explosives from Iran. The Iranian deliveries match the timeline of the stockpile stored near the Beirut port which exploded on August 4, leaving behind a trails of death and destruction in the Lebanese capital. Die Welt did not reveal the names of the intelligence agencies, a standard practice for the leading German newspaper which regularly publishes exclusive reports based on Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) and other services.

Die Welt on Wednesday exposed the money trail and shipping details implicating Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), regime’s military wing and an internationally designated terrorist group. The shipments of explosives in question were handled by the IRGC’s foreign terrorist arm, Al Quds Forces. Die Welt, Germany’s most-read newspaper detailed intel findings linking Iranian regime and the Hezbollah to the Beirut blast:

Following the devastating explosion in Beirut which took place the week before last, several clues [have emerged] that the Lebanon’s Shia militia Hezbollah repeatedly worked with the particular chemical which also caused the detonation in the Lebanese capital: ammonium nitrate, a [type of] salt that can be used as an explosive, but can also be used in manufacturing fertilizers. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has since vehemently denied that his organization had anything to do with the chemical stockpile that cause the explosion. However, according to details [provided by] Western intelligence agencies to Die Welt, the Hezbollah received a large delivery of ammonium nitrate closely coinciding with [the timeline of] material that detonated in Beirut. According to the information available at present, the explosion occurred on August 4 as the stock of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate caught fire which was stored since late 2013 or early 2014 in a hall at the Beirut port. Who exactly ordered the delivery and who was responsible for the storage is presently being investigated. However, according to the information provided by intelligence agencies to Die Welt, the Hezbollah — precisely at that time — had substantial quantities of ammonium nitrate delivered to Lebanon. The Quds [part] of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard [IRGC] was responsible for the transportation, [the outfit] which handles the foreign operations of that paramilitary [organization] and also holds key position in Iran’s politics.

In January 2020, the then-commandant of the Quds unit, General Qassem Soleimani, was killed in an American drone strike. The delivery of ammonium nitrate to Hezbollah also took place under his watch. In the first transaction, a total of 270 tons of ammonium nitrate was delivered on June, 16, 2013 from Iran to Lebanon. [Its] price: the converted value of €176,399 [roughly $208,000]. On October 23 of the same year, another 270 tons of ammonium nitrate was delivered, this time for the price of €140,693 [roughly $166,000]. In case of the third delivery, the quantity of ammonium nitrate delivered is unclear, [but it] can de deduced by the price. This way, for the delivery on April 4, 2014 a total of one billion Iranian Rial were charged (around $61,438/or $72,000). Calculated on the basis of other two deliveries, this could have been about 90 to 130 tons. In total the three deliveries amounted to 630 to 670 tons of ammonium nitrate.

For the first time, a top Iranian nuclear official has described the July 2nd fire at Natanz nuclear facility as sabotage, and not due to an accident. “The explosion at Natanz nuclear facility was a result of sabotage operations,” Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization announced Sunday. “Security authorities will reveal in due time the reason behind the blast,” he added. Recall that before and after the fire which caused severe damage, setting back the development of advanced uranium enrichment centrifuges, there was a series of 'mystery' explosions and fires at various military and industrial sites across Iran, raising suspicions of a major Israeli or even US-backed covert campaign to destabilize the country's defense infrastructure.

But the Natanz incident stood out as the most likely to have been the result of covert sabotage operations, with even The New York Times citing intelligence sources to say it was the result of "a powerful bomb": "A Middle Eastern intelligence official with knowledge of the episode said Israel was responsible for the attack on the Natanz nuclear complex on Thursday, using a powerful bomb," NYT wrote last month. "A member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps who was briefed on the matter also said an explosive was used," the report added. Iranian media has at the same time suggested a cyber-attack by outside entities, but has stopped short of naming the US or Israel, while also quoting Iranian leaders as saying they would retaliate if proven. Iranian authorities have until now kept mum on their suspicions in the midst of an investiation; however, they have assured Iran's enemies on repeat occasions that retaliation is coming, possibly in the form of cyber-warfare or other sabotage against Israel or the US.

Fulbright was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the latter of which is a second-degree felony in Texas and carries a term of 2 to 20 years. Project Veritas Sues Oregon for the Right to Go Undercover With Antifa in Portland

On Monday, Project Veritas sued the State of Oregon, claiming that the state’s ban on secret audio recording violates the First Amendment. Project Veritas Founder James O’Keefe announced the lawsuit in front of the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse, the federal courthouse that violent antifa rioters repeatedly attacked, night after night, during the nearly 90 days of George Floyd riots in Portland.

O’Keefe said Oregon’s recording laws “prohibit us from going undercover inside these protests to figure out what was going on.”

“We have already overturned Massachusetts recording law, now we’re going to do the same in Oregon,” O’Keefe added.

Ben Barr, one of the attorneys filing the suit on behalf of Project Veritas, explained, “Oregon law currently makes it a criminal act to record a protest, or an interview, or nearly any other interaction without clear and conspicuous notice to anyone whose voice might be recorded.”

The lawsuit brings three claims against Oregon’s recording law: that it discriminates against certain forms of speech (by allowing citizens to record police in some circumstances, but barring most forms of recording); that it violates the First Amendment’s freedom of the press by denying the right to record secretly; and that it allows the state to “punish journalists for publishing truthful information.”

Project Veritas already embedded a reporter within Rose City Antifa in 2018 and released the videos in June 2020. However, the recording laws have “chilled” Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action from “exercising their First Amendment rights.” Were it not for the recording laws, Project Veritas “would engage in several journalism projects in the state immediately and in years to come.”

Specifically, Project Veritas claims that if it were not for Oregon’s recording laws, the investigative outlet would “focus its investigations in Oregon on the dramatic rise in violent protests in Portland between the police and members of Antifa and other fringe groups.” Project Veritas would launch four separate investigative efforts:

PV would secretly record interactions between the police and protestors to observe and report whether usual policing functions are occurring in Portland.

PV would secretly record discussions between PV journalists and the police to gather candid police perspectives on the causes of the protests and investigate issues that may not be known by the public.

PV would secretly record discussions between PV journalists and protestors to gather protestors’ perspectives about the causes of the protests, to learn about instances of police abuse, and to investigate any anti-police animus.

In less dangerous situations or when the situation does not permit for ease of secret recording, PV would openly record discussions with protestors but without specifically informing everyone in the conversation of the recording.

In Historic Reshuffling, Exxon, Pfizer & Raytheon Kicked Out Of Dow Jones Industrial Average, Replaced By Saleforce, Amgen & Honeywell

In a historic reorganization of some of the Dow Jones "Industrial" Average's key consitutents, moments ago S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that energy giant, and the world's largest company as recently as 2014, Exxon Mobil will be kicked out of the benchmark index, and will be replaced by Salesforce.com, additionally Amgen will replace Pfizer, and Honeywell International will replace Raytheon Technologies.

According to the announcement, the index changes were prompted by something as trivial DJIA constituent Apple's decision to split its stock 4:1, which will reduce the index's weight in the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) Information Technology sector. "The announced changes help offset that reduction. They also help diversify the index by removing overlap between companies of similar scope and adding new types of businesses that better reflect the American economy."

In other news, billions of capital were created and destroyed for now other reason than i) the AAPL's stock split and ii) because the Dow is a price-weighted index.

As the press release also explains, the changes won’t disrupt the level of the index: the divisor used to calculate the index from the components’ prices on their respective home exchanges will be changed prior to the opening on August 31, 2020. This procedure prevents any distortion in the index’s reflection of the portion of the U.S. stock market it is designed to measure. The new divisors can be found in the end-of-day index level files via the S&P Dow Jones Indices FTP site beginning on Friday, August 28, 2020.

Of course, what the historic reshuffling will do is mitigate adverse impact of the the continued collapse of the energy and the relentless shrinkage of Exxon Mobil which back in 2013 became the world's largest company with a paltry, by today's standards, market cap of $416 billion when it briefly surpassed AAPL.
