Jack Sherman, the guitarist who appeared on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' debut album, has died. He was 64.

The band announced the news on social media early Saturday morning. It did not specify a cause of death.

DeJoy says a dozen mail sorting machines were removed in Wisconsin

U.S. Postmaster General Loius DeJoy says his office won’t be reinstalling 12 mail sorting machines that were removed in Wisconsin.

During a Senate hearing Friday before a committee chaired by Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson, Dejoy said the machines will not be returned to service, despite comments earlier this week that he’d be putting a stop to controversial changes at the Postal Service.

The Washington Post reports that of over 600 sorting machines removed nationwide, 6 were in Milwaukee, 3 in Madison, 2 in Green Bay and one was in Wausau. Also Friday, Johnson claimed that recent complaints about mail delays were “being ginned up . . . to extract a political advantage.”

"'The Utah Attorney General’s office abruptly pulled the plug on an anti-child trafficking rally after it came to light that organizers of one of the groups involved are sympathetic to the QAnon conspiracy theory."'

The “Freedom for the Children” rally was one of several planned in dozens of cities across the U.S. and worldwide under the banner of ending child trafficking.The event was heavily promoted by the Utah Attorney General's office on their social media channels.

An investigation by NBC News found that many of the organizers of these events were believers in the QAnon conspiracy theory, and the Saturday demonstrations were heavily promoted by QAnon supporters.

QAnon is a right-wing conspiracy theory that posits in part that there is a secret cabal of cannibal pedophiles in the highest levels of the American government who are engaged in child sex trafficking.

Local organizers of Saturday’s rally, with the help of the AG’s office, were partnering with the Arizona-based “Freedom for the Children” organization to put on the event. After questions about the legitimacy of that group were raised with the AG’s office by UtahPolicy.com, organizers decided to nix the rally.

The AG’s office was also partnering with legitimate anti-child sex trafficking groups on the event, including the Three Strands Global Foundation.

Freedom for the Children’s website was registered less than a month ago on July 24th, and the group’s Facebook page was created a day later.

There is no mention of QAnon on any of Freedom for the Children’s social media, but one of the founders, Bhairavi Shera, had a post on their Instagram page that featured the #pizzagateisreal hashtag, which refers to the QAnon theory that Washington elites were operating a child sex ring out of the basement of a pizza parlor in Washington, D.C.

In an interview with Logically.ai, Tara Nichole, another founder of Freedom for the Children would not deny that she was a believer in the QAnon theory.

“In order to hold true to the integrity of the movement, I cannot confirm or deny my personal political, religious or health regulation beliefs, as a representative of the movement,’ Nichols told the online publication.

There is a separate anti-trafficking rally scheduled in Salt Lake City on Saturday that is part of the “Save our Children” movement, which NBC News revealed has been amplified online by QAnon-related groups.

This coupled with the fake Qanon protesters is making me sick.

Trying to turn eyes away from the very real problem of trafficking by tying it to a "dangerous conspiracy".

A cargo plane carrying food, motorbikes and cash has crashed shortly after takeoff from the airport in the South Sudanese capital of Juba. Witnesses reported seeing several bodies.

The Antonov An-26 aircraft was travelling to the city of Aweil in the northwest of the country. Videos and photos circulating on social media show smoke rising from the pieces of fuselage strewn across the crash site.

President Trump on Saturday hit Democrats over the Pledge of Allegiance, leaning deeper into the culture wars he hopes will elevate his reelection bid.

Trump took to Twitter to accuse Democrats of not uttering the word “God” in the Pledge at this week’s Democratic National Convention. While the word was featured in the Pledge at the convention every night for each of the four days, some of the speakers did not say it during lower-profile convention meetings which were not part of the main programming.

“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat National Convention. At first I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. It was done on purpose. Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they are coming from-it’s done. Vote Nov 3!” Trump tweeted.

The Trump campaign doubled down, tweeting out a video compiling comments from meeting speakers who were critical of the government.

The controversy over the Pledge of Allegiance was sparked by a story on the Trump-friendly Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), which was then picked up by Fox News.

The tweet led to a flood of posts fact checking the president, with users posting videos compiling all the times “under God” was said during the convention.

The Saturday morning tweet represents just the latest attempt by Trump to tap into hot-button issues the president hopes will rile up his base and propel his reelection campaign as polls showing him trailing former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party’s 2020 nominee, both nationally and in key swing states.

The president in speeches and online has highlighted various fronts of the culture wars to boost support among critical demographics like evangelicals and suburbanites.

“[W]e moved the capital of Israel to Jerusalem. That's for the evangelicals,” he said this week.

Trump has also warned that Democratic policies will lead to a spike in crime in suburbs, citing ongoing protests in some cities over systemic racism, amid signals the GOP is shedding support in such areas after the president won the vote in suburbs in 2016.

“Why would Suburban Women vote for Biden and the Democrats when Democrat run cities are now rampant with crime (and they aren’t asking the Federal Government for help) which could easily spread to the suburbs, and they will reconstitute, on steroids, their low income suburbs plan!” Trump tweeted Saturday.

FBI Investigation Results in Puerto Rican Indictments

An ongoing FBI investigation saw a federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returning an eight-count indictment against Nelson Del Valle Colon, a member of the Puerto Rico’s House of Representatives, and two of his employees, Nickolle Santos-Estrada and her mother, Mildred Estrada-Rojas for alleged participation in a conspiracy of multi-year theft, bribery and kickbacks.

The Department of Justice announced Thursday that Del Valle Colon, Santos, and Estrada were charged with conspiracy, as well as theft, bribery, and kickbacks relating to programs that received federal funding. Del Valle Colon also faces additional charges of honest services wire fraud and obstruction of justice for destroying his cell phone data.

“Puerto Rico legislator Nelson Del Valle Colon and his employees allegedly embarked on a years-long conspiracy to enrich themselves by embezzling funds and using bribes and kickback to defraud the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian C. Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “As the case shows, the Department of Justice and our law enforcement partners are committed to holding elected officials accountable for corrupt conduct.”

This was not Biden’s first brush with plagiarism. His 1988 presidential campaign ended after he was accused of lifting portions of a speech made by British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock. In an address to the Welsh Assembly, Kinnock asked, Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Why is Glenys the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because all our predecessors were thick? In a speech at the 1987 Iowa State Fair, Biden used extremely similar language. I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university? Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college?” He continued, ”Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? Is it because I'm the first Biden in a thousand generations to get a college and a graduate degree that I was smarter than the rest? At the 1987 California Democratic convention, Biden told the audience that ''each generation of Americans has been summoned.” The same phrase was used by John F. Kennedy in his 1961 inaugural address. Layton himself used similar language to former Canadian Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier, according to the National Post. During World War I, Laurier attempted to unify Canada by telling a crowd that “the solution of these problems you have a safe guide, an unfailing light, if you remember that faith is better than doubt and love is better than hate.”

Dear Friends,

Tens of thousands of Canadians have written to me in recent weeks to wish me well. I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughtful, inspiring and often beautiful notes, cards and gifts. Your spirit and love have lit up my home, my spirit, and my determination.

I recommend that Hull-Aylmer MP Nycole Turmel continue her work as our interim leader until a permanent successor is elected.

I recommend the party hold a leadership vote as early as possible in the New Year, on approximately the same timelines as in 2003, so that our new leader has ample time to reconsolidate our team, renew our party and our program, and move forward towards the next election.

Creepy Mueller Gang Leader Andrew Weissmann Appears Connected to SDNY Hit Job on Former Trump Strategist Steve Bannon

This past week former Trump Team Strategist Steve Bannon was indicted with three others on charges related to their building a wall on the Southern border by the SDNY. This indictment screams of Andrew Weissmann corruption and prosecutorial abuse.

As we reported previously, dirty cop Robert Mueller and his deputy in crime Andrew Weissmann indicted a number of innocent individuals and companies of crimes over the years. Police: Multiple Arrests Made During Riot Outside Portland’s North Precinct

Nine people were arrested Saturday in Portland, Oregon, during a riot outside the North Precinct Community Policing Center.

The event that began Friday night resulted in heavy damage to police cars and injuries to officers, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said in a news release:

A crowd of 150-200 people gathered at Irving Park at 707 Northeast Fremont Street and began marching around 9:30p.m., blocking traffic. In the march, many individuals wore protective gear including helmets, eye protection, gas masks, and body armor. Some carried homemade wooden shields.

Officers placed unoccupied police vehicles parked on Northeast Emerson Street on the southwest side of the precinct and yellow police line tape across the road. That was done with the intention of keeping the crowd away from the building. In past protests there have been attempts to commit arson and burn the occupied building.

Journalist Andy Ngô tweeted video footage Saturday of the crowd outside the north precinct:

Police continuously warned the crowd not to enter city property. In response, rioters targeted the officers by throwing bottles, eggs, and green lasers in their eyes.

The crowd continued throwing objects and officers retreated out of sight in an effort to deescalate the situation:

Over the next three hours, individuals in the crowd pelted the police vehicles with softball-sized rocks, glass bottles, golf balls, ball bearings, metal railroad spikes (photo), and plastic eggs filled with paint (photo). There were also balloons filled with feces thrown on the cars and even a torn up street sign was used to vandalize the marked police cars (photo). Windows were broken and tires were deflated (photo).

The PPB eventually issued a warning that the event was being declared an unlawful assembly and ordered the crowd to move to the south:

“Almost immediately the officers were pelted with objects including rocks. At 1:10 a.m., a riot was declared,” the PPB release said, adding that a vehicle tried to run over officers but was unsuccessful in injuring them.

However, one officer suffered a laceration to her leg when a rock was thrown, another officer sprained his ankle, and several others suffered bumps and bruises, the bureau stated.

Amazon censors anti-Kamala items; Allows ‘f*** Trump’ apparel

Amazon censored vulgar political speech this week by removing shirts that referred to Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris as a “hoe.”

A seller named The Oxygen Bandit promoted shirts that said “Joe and the Hoe,” which sold for $24.99 to $42.99 depending on the style.

“All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action including potential removal of their account,” an Amazon spokesperson said, according to USA Today.

“We are working to remove these products,” the spokesperson said.

From a brief search of the shirts that Amazon allows users to sell on its platform, it is clear that the company is blatantly discriminating against Republican political candidates and protecting Democratic political candidates.

On the first page of results after searching “anti-Donald Trump clothing,” there are shirts that:

Say “F— Trump” in some form.

Compare Trump to a sexually transmitted disease.

Call Trump a “turd.”

Slanderously call Trump a “racist.”

Slanderously call him Vladimir Putin’s “puppet.”

Calls him a “Luna Tick,” with a reference to other parasites.

One shirt goes as far as to say “F— Trump. If you like Trump, f— you too.”

For now, Amazon is allowing a shirt that says “Kamala smelled the best,” a reference to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden‘s strange habit of smelling women.

The shirts that call Harris a “hoe” stem from her extramarital relationship with Willie Brown, a former San Francisco mayor who is 30 years her senior.

Harris benefited politically from her relationship with Brown, but the corporate news media describes this as “misinformation,” against all available evidence.

Even the far-left San Francisco Chronicle described Brown’s appointment of Harris to the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and the California Medical Assistance Commission as “patronage.”

Brown defended his political patronage to Harris by stating that he had aided many other people in launching their political careers.

Tennessee Governor Signs Bill Increasing Punishments for Rioters

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee on Wednesday signed a bill into law to boost punishments for rioters.

The law increased the punishment for illegal camping on state property not designated as a camping area from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class E felony with mandatory minimum sentence of 30 days imprisonment.

The offenders will also be required to pay restitution for any property damage or loss incurred by the illegal camping.

Those who camp on state property illegally between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m and refuse to leave or return within 24 hours after being warned by officers will probably be subject to charges, according to the law.

The bill was sponsored by state Rep. William Lamberth (R-Tenn.) and passed in the House and Senate on Aug. 12. It became effective right after Lee signed it into law on Wednesday.

The law added several measures to protect state and private property against rioters.

Under current law, a vandal is published in the same manner as theft based on the fair value or replacement cost of the property damage. The law added that the value of state property should be calculated based on the cost of repairing, cleaning, and restoring the property.

The law also imposes a mandatory minimum 45-day hold if convicted of aggravated rioting, enhances the fine for obstructing emergency vehicles from accessing highways, requires a court to order restitution for damaging state property, and creates a Class C felony offense for aggravated assault against a first responder—which carries a $15,000 fine and mandatory minimum 90-day prison sentence.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU), a left-leaning legal assistance organization which had asked Lee to veto the legislation in an Aug. 14 letter (pdf), said Thursday that the group will be closely monitoring enforcement of the law.

“We are very disappointed in Governor Lee’s decision to sign this bill, which chills free speech, undermines criminal justice reform, and fails to address the very issues of racial justice and police violence raised by the protesters who are being targeted,” ACLU of Tennessee Executive Director Hedy Weinberg said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press.

Tennessee has a Republican governor and Republican majorities in both state legislative chambers, and will likely set an example for other red states.

A wave of protests and riots occurred in various cities around the country including Nashville in Tennessee after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee on his neck.

Rioters have damaged local businesses and committed arson, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

About 30 business and buildings were damaged overnight on May 31. Nashville police also arrested 25-year-old Wesley Somers for setting fire to Nashville’s Historic Courthouse.

Somers was charged with felony arson, vandalism, and disorderly conduct.

‘Hydroxychloroquine’ And The COVID-19 Political Battlefield. It Became 2020’s Dirty Word.

What is the American public to believe about getting the best treatment possible for COVID-19? In fact, most Americans don’t know what to believe and it’s with good reason.

Everyone assumes that their doctors, or emergency room physician are giving the best advice based on the information available during our most difficult times. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Why? Because many of our doctors and hospitals lack the necessary studies that would give them the answers they need regarding the virus from China that has turned the world upside down.

Those failures, coupled with politics has put COVID-19 and particularly ‘Hydroxychloroquine’ at the center of a viral political battlefield. It became 2020’s dirty word. And anyone who, including doctors who wanted to give the long-time malaria drug a chance, were ostracized in the media, as well as social media. Some of President Trump’s supporters attributed it to his open support of trying the drug with the advice of a doctor. After all, anything Trump supports becomes a political football.

Still, did it matter. There were studies on both sides that were complete failures. Some studies in showed it worked and others studies like the Lancet, which had to be retracted was touted by the anti-Trump media. That failed study stated that it was based on the “health records of almost 100,000 patients around the world, found that hospitalized Covid-19 patients treated with the antimalarial drug Hydroxychloroquine — a drug repeatedly touted by President Trump — had a sharply higher risk of death and heart problems compared to those who did not receive the drug.” It was a completely failed study.

So, what are we to believe and how do we make the best decisions to ensure our health and that of our family? We just can’t.

Some of us have had to throw caution to the wind and search for what we believe would save the lives of those we love, particularly if they are facing the end of their life.

Still, there are rules and many times, no matter how hard we try, we just don’t have the ability to make the best informed decisions. On Friday, for example, the Infectious Diseases Society of America revised its Covid-19 treatment guidelines.

As reported in Bloomberg:

it toughened its stance against the use of the anti-malarial drug that’s been widely touted by President Donald Trump as a way to deal with the pandemic.

IDSA now recommends not to use hydroxychloroquine either by itself or along with the antibiotic azithromycin for patients with the coronavirus, even in hospitals. The society previously called for limited use of hydroxychloroquine in trials.

By Saturday morning President Donald Trump revealed his frustration with the whole mess.

He took a jab at the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to also withdraw its approval for the emergency use of Hydroxychloroquine in June for the treatment of the novel coronavirus. At the same time, he called out the FDA for its apparently stringent regulations to do human testing for vaccines and current therapeutics that could mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

On August 22, a new wave of intense Russian airstrikes targeted the remaining ISIS terrorists in the central region of Syria.

Top Guggenheim Exec Faces Five Misdemeanors After Boating Accident That Left Two Injured

A top insurance executive at Guggenheim Partners has been charged with negligence and reckless driving as a result of a December boating collision that took place near Fort Lauderdale.

Guggenheim's Daniel Towriss now faces five misdemeanors as a result of the accident and has pleaded not guilty to all five charges, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The collision left a brand new 42 foot custom yacht upended on a jetty shortly after midnight on December 31. Two of his passengers were thrown from the boat and suffered injuries as a result, according to another lawsuit filed in July. The passengers allege that Towriss was driving "recklessly and under the influence".

One of the passengers "suffered a fractured skull and injuries to her brain, leg and ribs, and has since had three surgeries". Both passengers claimed in a lawsuit that Towriss "had a mixed drink and a share of two or three bottles of wine" before going out on the boat. On the boat, they claim he had another drink, became unaware of his surroundings and “permitted the boat to drift in an erratic way on the open water in dark, nighttime conditions.”

Guggenheim refrained from commenting, telling the WSJ: “The boating accident you have inquired about is a personal matter that occurred during a holiday vacation and is entirely unrelated to Mr. Towriss’s business duties and responsibilities.”

Towriss' lawyers - as lawyers do - blamed the jetty and the passengers.

John Seiler, lawyer for Mr. Towriss, said Towriss was disappointed that the “boating outing among friends of many years turned into a lawsuit for money damages and the end of a friendship.”

Eric Schwartzreich, another one of Mr. Towriss’s lawyers, said: “We’re disappointed in these charges and intend to vigorously fight them in Court. This accident happened because of the well-known and dangerous conditions of the jetty.’’

A US Border patrol agent was recently arrested and charged with drug trafficking after he was found with roughly 350,000 fentanyl pills along with other drugs

A US Border patrol agent was recently arrested and charged with drug trafficking after he was found with roughly 350,000 fentanyl pills along with other drugs, including kilos of cocaine and heroin.

53-year-old Carlos Victor Passapera Pinnot was assigned to patrol the border in Tucson, Arizona, but he was apparently using his position and the cover it provides to run a large drug trafficking operation. There is a chance that he may have remained undetected by authorities if he chose a smarter place to make his drug deals, but he was ultimately caught because he decided to meet his buyer at an airport.

Airports are among the worst places to make a drug deal because they are such high-security areas, which are typically filled with cameras and police that are always looking for any sign of suspicious activity.

Passapera met his buyer at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in the early morning hours and placed two large duffle bags in the buyer’s vehicle. The buyer was later stopped by police who searched his vehicle and found a large assortment of drugs, including the 350,000 fentanyl pills and 21 kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of heroin, and one additional kilogram of fentanyl.

Passapera was arrested later that day, and during the raid, authorities found nearly $330,000 in his home and $40,000 in his vehicle, according to a press release from the Justice Department.

It is not entirely clear how investigators were able to connect Passapera with the buyer so quickly. It is very possible that the buyer told police his identity, but they could have also very easily tracked phone records if Passapera communicated on a device that he had registered under his name, or stored on his property. Since they met at the airport, it would have also been very easy for investigators to look at CCTV footage to see who met the buyer.

“On August 9, 2020, at approximately 3:15 AM, Passapera left his residence and drove south to a remote area of the border west of the Lukeville Port of Entry. Passapera then drove to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, where he loaded two duffel bags into another vehicle. Law enforcement agents stopped the driver of that vehicle after it left the airport, and searched the duffel bags,” the press release stated.

The Department of Homeland Security, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) took part in the investigation along with local law enforcement. If convicted, Passapera could face a minimum prison sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Update (1605ET): An arrest has been made.

21-year-old Olivia M. Winslow of Wilmington was arrested on Friday in connection with the incident involving the 7-year-old boy who had his MAGA hat stolen, according to WDEL.

Video circulated on social media, by Students for Trump, shows two girls, one police said was Winslow, tearing up Trump signs and stealing the young boy's "Make America Great Again" hat. The video shows the boy crying, and his mother encouraging him to get his hat back.

Police said they arrested Winslow after reviewing video footage of the event. A second woman involved hasn't yet been arrested. -WDEL

As work on a COVID-19 vaccine continues, Bill Gates believes the coronavirus could indirectly be responsible for millions of more deaths in the near future.

Due to lockdowns and healthcare systems operating at close to full capacity, individuals in many countries have been unable to access non-coronavirus related medical care.

The strain that the coronavirus has put on healthcare systems across the globe could very well result in millions of more deaths over the next two years, according to remarks made by Bill Gates. During a recent interview with Zanny Minton Beddoes of The Economist, Gates explained that lockdowns designed to prevent the coronavirus from spreading have also impacted the ability for people to access medical care for other conditions. This dynamic, Gates noted, is poised to hit underdeveloped countries battling malaria and HIV the hardest.

Gates explained:

We certainly didn’t get ready, we didn’t run the simulations to realize that getting testing up quickly would be important. So we failed before it came along. And then once it hit, we also made some mistakes. Overall the response has been less good than I expected. The damage, economically and health-wise, has been far greater than I would have expected with a virus like this.

As to the politicization of the United States’ response to the coronavirus, Gates said he isn’t exactly sure that things would improve if Joe Biden is elected President.

“I don’t know that changing administrations will get people to wear more masks,” Gates opined.

When asked about China’s response to the coronavirus, Gates articulated that the country did an admirable job of containing the coronavirus even though they were perhaps too passive in combating it early on.

“Well, the country where a new virus shows up first has the toughest job, because they have no warning at all,” Gates said. “And so it’s likely to get out in fairly big numbers. They clearly made mistakes. There were warning signs, people talking about it. They didn’t go after it in the month of December and even in January. In retrospect, they could have rung alarm the bell more loudly than they did.”

“After that,” Gates continued, “although in their typical authoritarian way, they did a very good job of suppressing the virus. There may have been a lot of individual rights that were violated there, but the overall macro effect that they achieved is kind of amazing.”

VATICAN CITY, August 21, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) ― Pope Francis has backed global elites such as Bill Gates when it comes to a Coronavirus vaccination, saying that it should be “universal and for all.”

In his Wednesday afternoon address, the Argentinian pontiff made his comments in the context of opposing rich countries and people obtaining the vaccine.

“It would be sad if we gave priority for the COVID-19 vaccine to the richest people,” Pope Francis declared.

“It would be sad if this vaccine became the property of this or that nation and was not universal and for all,” he continued.

Vaccine critics, including environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr., are warning that key parts of testing are being skipped in the push to develop a COVID vaccine. Critics warn about the risks of large-scale injury and other health-related consequences that could result from a largely untested vaccine that is suddenly injected into millions.

Earlier this year, a Canadian inoculations watchdog alerted LifeSiteNews to the dangers of vaccines that are developed too quickly. Ted Kuntz, president of Vaccine Choice Canada (VCC), a society founded by families who have suffered from vaccine reactions or injuries, warned in May that Canadians should be concerned about the safety of a coronavirus trial vaccine manufactured by China.

Some authorities, like Professor Giuseppe Tritto, an internationally known expert in biotechnology and nanotechnology, have warned that developing a single vaccine for a virus for which the original genetic code is being withheld by the Chinese and which has already mutated into a dozen different strains is “extremely unlikely.” This has resulted in many speculating on an ulterior agenda behind the global push for a COVID vaccination.

Some Church leaders, such as Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò and U.S. Bishop Joseph Strickland, have urged Catholics to reject COVID vaccines developed using cell-lines from aborted babies.

The Pope began his Wednesday speech by saying that the coronavirus pandemic had revealed the difficult situation of the poor “and the great inequality that reigns in the world.” Although the coronavirus does not make exceptions between people, he said, it had nevertheless found, in “its devastating path, great inequalities and discriminations” and even increased them.

Pope Francis said that there must be a two-fold response to the situation: both a cure for the “little virus” of COVID-19 and a cure for the “big virus,” “that of social injustice, of unequal opportunity, of marginalization, and of lack of protection for the weakest.”

I joined this group when it popped up a few weeks back and in general it provides some good memes and news articles about human trafficking cases. While I rarely see anything political, I have seen a few memes that seemed like covert leftist propaganda. For example, last week I encountered a meme suggesting that Thomas Jefferson was a pedophile and serial rapist along with an alleged photo of Sally Hemings, the slave thought to have fathered some Jefferson offspring. It was a clever meme because it twisted and distorted circumstantial evidence and seemed intended to destroy any ideal that we may have that Jefferson was a noble man. Anyway, I fully exposed and destroyed the meme and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Moreover the comments I have read posted by this group seem to be largely by Trump supporters.

While I received a lot of likes to the warning I posted Above, it was very strange that all the comments posted so far all just have the Hashtag #savethechildren. Bots?

Pentagon IG Taking Long Look at How Military Responds to 'Active Shooter' Incidents

The Pentagon's Inspector General has begun a comprehensive research project on how the military branches' various law enforcement agencies have responded over the years to active shooter incidents and violence in the workplace on installations.

The brief July 28 announcement by the IG did not state what triggered the project, but recent incidents have raised questions ranging from access to bases and weapons, to the vetting of personnel participating in training programs.

The most troubling of the recent incidents occurred Dec. 6, 2019, at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida when a gunman later identified as Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, an aviation student from Saudi Arabia, opened fire in a classroom building.

Using a 9mm Glock handgun and extra magazines, Alshamrani killed three sailors and injured eight others before he was killed by responding deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office. The FBI later classified the shootings as a terrorist incident.

Two days before the Pensacola shootings, a 22-year-old active-duty sailor, Gabriel Romero, who was assigned to the attack submarine Columbia, opened fire on civilian personnel, killing two and wounding a third, while on guard duty at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard near Honolulu, Hawaii.

Romero used his M4 service rifle in the shootings and then used his M9 service pistol to shoot and kill himself, according to authorities. At the time, he was facing nonjudicial punishment and was undergoing counseling, authorities said.

The July IG announcement said the research project will include collecting policy and guidance documents, response plans and training documents. It also aims to compile a definitive list of previous active shooter and workplace violence incidents and investigations, which has been lacking across the services.

The IG's statement said that the research will focus on "each of the military services' law enforcement organizations and military criminal investigative organizations to further define the scope of a potential future evaluation" of how they performed.

The most recent deadly shooting on a military installation occurred at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi,Texas, on May, 21 when Adam Alsahli, a 20-year-old Syrian-born U.S. citizen and Corpus Christi resident, drove to a security gate and opened fire.

A sailor on guard duty suffered nonlife-threatening injuries when a bullet hit her bullet-proof vest, but she managed to trigger a switch that lifted a barrier. Alsahi crashed his vehicle into the barrier and was killed by return fire from other security personnel, authorities said.

The FBI later said the shooting was a "terror-related incident."

Chrissy Teigen is going full-on “Judge Judy” in a reality show ordered by Quibi, the mobile-video subscription start-up venture founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg.

In each episode of “Chrissy’s Court,” the model-influencer will reign as the “judge” over one small-claims case. Like the reality TV shows it’s patterned after, the plaintiffs, defendants, and disputes are real — and Teigen’s rulings will be binding.

The show also will feature Teigen’s mother mom, Vilailuck “Pepper Thai” Teigen, acting as the “bailiff” to maintain order in the court. The series will run 10 episodes, each under 10 minutes — conforming to Quibi’s “quick bites” format.

“When Cellino & Barnes broke up, I was devastated,” Teigen quipped in a statement, referring to the personal-injury law firm known for its TV jingles, whose principals split acrimoniously in 2017. “I knew I had to take matters into my own hands. Here’s one jury duty you won’t want to miss.”

Teigen’s show joins the lineup of other premium, short-form series ordered by Quibi, including projects from Jason Blum, Catherine Hardwicke, Stephen Curry, Guillermo del Toro, Antoine Fuqua, and Sam Raimi. The service also is slated to include daily news and lifestyle programming.

Founded by Katzenberg and headed by CEO Meg Whitman, Quibi is eyeing a April 2020 launch of a mobile subscription VOD service, to cost $5-$8 monthly. The company has raised $1 billion from major Hollywood studios and other investors.

“Chrissy’s Court” is produced by Suit & Thai Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment. Teigen and Luke Dillon serve as executive producers.

Teigen, who is currently co-host of Paramount Network’s “Lip Sync Battle,” is repped by 3Arts, WME, and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein & Lezcano.

Earlier this month Hulu announced a multiyear development deal with Chrissy Teigen’s Suit & Thai Productions, Momofuku chef David Chang’s Majordomo Media and Vox Media Studios to develop “food-centric programming.” Hulu also inked a two-year deal with Teigen to develop original programming, which could include scripted drama series and talk shows.

Rioters Throw Poop Balloons At Police, Trash Blazer’s Boys And Girl’s Club In 85th Straight Day Of Chaos

It appears as though the rioters in Portland have revealed Plan Number 2, as they’ve resorted to throwing balloons filled with feces at police, along with other objects including golf balls and rail spikes. They even used a torn out street sign to smash the windows of several police SUV’s. The rioters also targeted the Boys And Girls Club, sponsored by the Portland Trailblazers NBA team. Ironically, this club is located in what is a traditional black neighborhood. Perhaps if the rioters smash up enough black youth clubs, then racial injustice will end.

The official Portland police press release recaps the chaos of the night:

Multiple arrests were made during a riot at Portland Police’s North Precinct Community Policing Center that resulted in heavy damage to police cars and injuries to officers.

A crowd of 150-200 people gathered at Irving Park at 707 Northeast Fremont Street and began marching around 9:30p.m., blocking traffic. In the march, many individuals wore protective gear including helmets, eye protection, gas masks, and body armor. Some carried homemade wooden shields.

Officers placed unoccupied police vehicles parked on Northeast Emerson Street on the southwest side of the precinct and yellow police line tape across the road. That was done with the intention of keeping the crowd away from the building. In past protests there have been attempts to commit arson and burn the occupied building. A police loudspeaker provided warnings to the crowd not to enter city property and on the closed area of Northeast Emerson Street.

Almost immediately the officers were targeted by thrown bottles, eggs, and green lasers toward their eyes. The lasers are powerful enough that they’re capable of causing serious, permanent eye damage. The police sound truck issued further warnings, notifying the crowd that officers have observed people in the area of North Precinct throwing projectiles and pointing lasers at officers. Anyone who is involved in criminal behavior including throwing projectiles and/or laser pointing, is subject to arrest, citation and/or use of force, including, but not limited to, crowd control agents and impact weapons.

Despite warnings, individuals in the crowd continued throwing things. Officers tried to retreat out of sight to attempt to deescalate (photo). Over the next three hours, individuals in the crowd pelted the police vehicles with softball-sized rocks, glass bottles, golf balls, ball bearings, metal railroad spikes (photo), and plastic eggs filled with paint (photo). There were also balloons filled with feces thrown on the cars and even a torn up street sign was used to vandalize the marked police cars (photo). Windows were broken and tires were deflated (photo).

However, because the risk did not involve life safety, and in an attempt to deescalate and avoid the need to use of force, officers remained far back (photo). Eventually some individuals encroached past the closure area. Targeted, selective arrests were made. Some limited crowd control munitions were deployed, including inert smoke canisters. After the arrests and munitions were deployed, the officers again retreated attempting to deescalate.

Officers in the sound truck used their loudspeaker to warn the group to back off the city property, keep the demonstration peaceful, and the ask crowd to police itself. However, individuals within the group continued to increase their attacks in an attempt to goad the officers into responding. Individuals were seen using lacrosse sticks to launch rocks a greater distance. At least two officers were struck with rocks despite their safety buffer. A ball bearing struck the loudspeaker truck almost a full block away. A van parked in front of the neighboring Boys and Girls Club had a window broken by what is believed to be a golf ball (photos).

MP Alister Jack has finally replied to my question asking where he and the UK government stand on the threat by Israel to annex more Palestinian territory known as the West Bank. It seems the Government has urged them not to do it.

I doubt if his letter, reproduced here, is his own work. It is sprinkled with the humbug and deceit repeated for decades by Tory and Labour governments and was likely penned at least 20 years ago by a Foreign Office scribbler vaccinated with an Israeli embassy gramophone needle. It is still used as a reply template by MPs and ministers who dare not speak their own mind or are plain clueless.

As usual, Her Majesty’s Government wants “a safe and secure Israel” but only “a viable and sovereign Palestinian state”. What a deplorable statement. Viable means workable in the most meagre sense. And when it comes to safety and security why can’t Mr Jack be evenhanded? His words (if they are indeed his) express clear racial prejudice favouring the wellbeing and prosperity of one people at the expense of another which, I’d have thought, deserves a sharp rap on the knuckles.

He says there can be no changes to the status quo without a negotiated agreement between the parties. Mr Jack is surely aware that the status quo is itself illegal and breaches umpteen UN resolutions. And why does he feel the Palestinians must ‘negotiate’ their freedom?

Picture the scene with the invader holding a gun to the head of the victim whose land the invader has occupied under brutal military control and in defiance of international law for 70+ years. Why is Mr Jack joining his colleagues in calling for more lopsided negotiations instead of pushing for law and justice?

‘Nothing shall be done to prejudice the rights of non-Jewish communities….’ Sorry, forget that.

So many experts are saying that a negotiated two-state solution is impossible. Does anyone seriously think the Israelis will voluntarily give up their ill-gotten territorial gains which are crucial to their Greater Israel dream? The only peaceable way to change their mind is through the persuasive power of BDS and other sanctions.

For that reason BDS is under relentless Zionist attack and is fiercely opposed by the servile UK Government. The reason why the West endlessly woffles about ‘negotiations’ is their cowardly failure ever since 1948 to confront Israel’s greedy ambition for expansion and domination.

That inconvenient bit in Britain’s 1917 pledge to Rothschild and the Zionist Federation about “it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine” is best forgotten.

It’s so much easier for the UK Government to say and do nothing while their Zionist ‘friends’ surreptitiously complete their programme of creeping annexation. And never mind the 70+ years of grief this has caused innocent Palestinians.

Mr Jack refers to Boris Johnson’s article in Yedioth Ahronoth which appeared on the very day Netanyahu was supposed to be carrying out his crazed threat.

“Annexation would represent a violation of international law…. I profoundly hope that annexation does not go ahead,” he wrote. “If it does, the UK will not recognize any changes to the 1967 lines, except those agreed between both parties.”

A group of former Federal Reserve officials and staffers, including former Vice Chairman Alan Blinder, published an open letter Thursday calling on the U.S. Senate to reject President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judy Shelton to the central bank’s Board of Governors.

“Ms. Shelton’s views are so extreme and ill-considered as to be an unnecessary distraction from the tasks at hand,” the letter said.

The letter was also signed by two former reserve bank presidents and three former division directors on the board’s staff. It has 38 current signatories, all of whom worked at the central bank at some point.

The Senate Banking Committee advanced Shelton’s nomination on a party-line vote in July, and she now awaits approval by the full Senate. No vote has been scheduled for her or fellow nominee Christopher Waller, research director at the St. Louis Fed.

Shelton didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Two Republican senators, Mitt Romney of Utah and Susan Collins of Maine, have said they will vote against Shelton, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska has said she was undecided, making Shelton’s fate uncertain. Her confirmation would be blocked if four Republicans vote against her and Democrats remain unified in their opposition.

The libertarian think-tank veteran moved a step closer to joining the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors when the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday approved her nomination to that post by President Donald Trump. Unless four Republicans emerge to oppose her confirmation when it reaches the full Senate, she will soon have a seat, and a vote, on one of the world’s most powerful policy making bodies.

So what’s all the fuss?

In short, she’s viewed suspiciously by many in central banking circles for policy views that are well outside the mainstream including a history of admiration for the gold standard and for being a political loyalist who might bend to Trump’s will. Shelton appeared to abandon her long-time advocacy for ultra-tight monetary policy when she emerged as a Fed candidate, publicly aligning herself with the president’s calls for lower interest rates.

If confirmed as a governor, she’d have the power of her vote for a term that expires in 2024. But with a declared fealty to Trump’s economic agenda, she could be favored by the president to take the Fed’s top job when Chair Jerome Powell’s term expires in 2022, if Trump is re-elected in November.

[What a shocker] Between an economy-wrecking pandemic and a blistering crime wave driven by race riots and a disbanded anti-crime unit, New York City residents are switching to Pace Picante and fleeing the metropolis in droves.

That, of course, is nothing new if you're been following along. But if you need yet another data point, NYC moving companies are so busy they're having to turn down business, according to DNYUZ.

While the moving industry is fractured among numerous small business owners, and official statistics are tough to come by, one thing is clear: From professionals who are downsizing following a job loss, to students moving back in with their parents, to families fleeing the city for the suburbs, New Yorkers are changing their addresses in droves.

According to FlatRate Moving, the number of moves it has done has increased more than 46 percent between March 15 and August 15, compared with the same period last year. The number of those moving outside of New York City is up 50 percent — including a nearly 232 percent increase to Dutchess County and 116 percent increase to Ulster County in the Hudson Valley. -DNYUZ

"It felt like move-out day on a college campus," said former NYC resident, Bobby DelGreco, who moved out of his apartment of nine years in Stuyvesant Town, located in East Manhattan. DelGreco is now living in a long-term Airbnb in Los Angeles, so we assume he'll be moving again shortly.

"All the doors were propped open, and there were moving trucks and furniture everywhere," he added.

Matt Jahn, owner of Brooklyn-based Metropolis Moving, told DNYUZ that he's been flooded with so many customers that he's had to reject new business. "We are turning people away because we just don’t have the capacity," he said, adding "Normally, in a given summer, we spend a bunch on advertising. But we cut it this year because we couldn’t afford it. And we have still had amazing demand."...

Covid-19 will stay with humankind “forever in some form or another,” a leading British scientist has predicted, advocating regular vaccinations of the population against the deadly disease.

The not-exactly-optimistic prognosis was produced by Sir Mark Walport, a member of the UK government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), on Saturday.

Unlike some other diseases, like smallpox “which could be eradicated by vaccination,” Covid-19 is unlikely to be completely destroyed, the scientist told BBC Radio 4. At the same time, “global vaccination” is a must merely to contain the ongoing pandemic, he believes.

“This is a virus that is going to be with us forever in some form or another, and almost certainly will require repeated vaccinations,” Walport said. “So, a bit like flu, people will need re-vaccination at regular intervals.”

Walport’s remarks came in response to an earlier statement by the World Health Organization (WHO) chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who expressed hope that the pandemic will be over “in less than two years.”

Ghebreyesus compared Covid-19 to the 1918 outbreak of the Spanish Flu, stating that humankind has met the coronavirus significantly more technologically prepared. At the same time, the world has become much more global since the early 20th century, which facilitates the rapid spread of diseases.
