Japan's Nikkei .N225 slid just over 2% in a sour return from holiday, while E-Mini futures for the S&P 500 ESc1 fell 0.5% in very choppy trade. Oil prices added to their gains on fears any conflict in the region could disrupt global supplies. FTSE chief executive 'earn' average salary within three days.

FTSE 100 chief executives starting work on 2 January will by 17:00 GMT today have been paid more than the average wage of £29,559, the report suggests.

The data was compiled by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the High Pay Centre think tank.

Doctors, scientists, engineers and public advocates have asked President Trump for a moratorium on 5G. Expert warnings include more than biological and environmental risks (see 1, 2, 3, 4). Telecom companies have admitted they have NO scientific evidence that 5G is safe. Regardless, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) continues to promote and force installation. That’s why tens of thousands of small cells have already been installed by T-Mobile and other telecoms (see 1, 2, 3, 4) and hundreds of thousands more are predicted to be (see 1, 2).

No one cares about movies anymore. No one goes to cinema, no one really watches network TV. Everyone is watching Netflix. This show should just be me coming out, going, "Well done Netflix. You win everything. Good night." But no, we got to drag it out for three hours. You could binge-watch the entire first season of Afterlife instead of watching this show. That’s a show about a man who wants to kill himself cause his wife dies of cancer and it’s still more fun than this. Spoiler alert, season two is on the way so in the end he obviously didn’t kill himself. Just like Jeffrey Epstein. Shut up. I know he’s your friend but I don’t care.

Martin Scorsese made the news for his controversial comments about the Marvel franchise. He said they’re not real cinema and they remind him about theme parks. I agree. Although I don’t know what he’s doing hanging around theme parks. He’s not big enough to go on the rides. He’s tiny. The Irishman was amazing. It was amazing. It was great. Long, but amazing. It wasn’t the only epic movie. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, nearly three hours long. Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end his date was too old for him. Even Prince Andrew was like, “Come on, Leo, mate.You’re nearly 50-something.”

The world got to see James Corden as a fat pussy. He was also in the movie Cats. No one saw that movie. And the reviews, shocking. I saw one that said, "This is the worst thing to happen to cats since dogs." But Dame Judi Dench defended the film saying it was the film she was born to play because she loves nothing better than plunking herself down on the carpet, lifting her leg and licking her ass. (Coughs) Hairball. She’s old-school.

It’s the last time, who cares? Apple roared into the TV game with The Morning Show, a superb drama about the importance of dignity and doing the right thing, made by a company that runs sweatshops in China. Well, you say you’re woke but the companies you work for in China — unbelievable. Apple, Amazon, Disney. If ISIS started a streaming service you’d call your agent, wouldn’t you?

So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.

So if you win, come up accept your little award, thank your agent, and your god and fuck off. It’s already three hours long. Right, let’s do the first award. The first award?

China Replaces Top Hong Kong Official; Appoints "Strongman" In Signal To Protesters

China changed its top representative to Hong Kong in the first major leadership reshuffle since anti-government protests broke out in the city seven months ago, unexpectedly replacing Wang Zhimin with a "strongman" party stalwart who has no experience in Hong Kong as its new top official based in the city, signaling its intention to restore law and order after almost seven months of social unrest. Luo Huining, the former party leader of Shanxi province, has been named as the new director of the central government’s liaison office in the city, Xinhua reported on Saturday.

According to the SCMP, Wang, who was blamed in some quarters for the unrest, will be given a dignified exit: he will be recalled to Beijing and reassigned to another position unrelated to Hong Kong affairs; the Hong Kong publication notes that the reshuffle should not be seen as a punishment for Wang but a change of strategy.

Wang was liaison office director since September 2017. His term of two years and three months made him the shortest-serving head of the office since the return of Hong Kong to the mainland. Before taking the position in Hong Kong, he served as director of the liaison office in Macau for around a year. One reason for Wang's short tenure: his inability to normalize the situation in Hong Kong which has been in the grip of protests since June last year, sparked by the now-withdrawn extradition bill before morphing into a wider anti-government campaign that has been marked by mass rallies and often-violent clashes.

Former General David Petraeus described President Donald Trump’s decision to eliminate Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad as the most significant action against terrorism in the Middle East.

“It is impossible to overstate the importance of this particular action. It is more significant than the killing of Osama bin Laden or even the death of [Islamic State leader Abu Bakr] al-Baghdadi,” he said in an interview with Foreign Policy magazine.

Petraeus said President Trump had effectively reestablished the idea any Iranian attack against American targets would be met with considerable force.

“This is the most formidable adversary that we have faced for decades,” he said, noting that Soleimani had previously enjoyed considerable power and freedom to act boldly in the region. “This is a very significant effort to reestablish deterrence, which obviously had not been shored up by the relatively insignificant responses up until now.”

Petraeus said Iran would clearly think carefully before attacking an American target, noting that they had recently become emboldened in the region.

“Many people had rightly questioned whether American deterrence had eroded somewhat because of the relatively insignificant responses to the earlier actions,” he said. “This clearly was of vastly greater importance.”

Petraeus said Iran was in a “precarious” situation because of their fragile economy, and estimated that the Iranian people would not support an escalation of war with the United States.

Berlin [Germany], Jan 6 (ANI): Extending support to the United States over the killing of Iran's senior military commander Qassem Soleimani, the United Kingdom, Germany and France have condemned the attacks against US-led coalition in Iraq and expressed concern by "negative role" played by Tehran in the region.

On Sunday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson held separate telephonic conversations with each other to discuss escalated tensions in the middle east.

"We condemned the recent strikes on the coalition forces in Iraq and are deeply concerned by the negative role that was played by Iran in the region, especially through the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Quds Force under the command of General Soleimani," the joint statement, issued by the German cabinet late on Sunday, read.

Soleimani, a US-designated terrorist, was killed along with six others after the US carried out a strike near the Baghdad's international airport on Friday.

Soelimani's killing has infuriated Iran. He was considered as a second-most powerful man in the country. Iran leadership has vowed to take equally "harsh revenge" from the United States. The three leaders have also called for a deescalation of tensions in the region.

Many countries around the world including Syria, China and Russia have condemned the United States' action. While countries like India have urged both parties to deescalate.

Amid relationship deteriorating with the United States, Tehran on Sunday announced that it was abandoning its last obligation under the 2015 nuclear deal which is to limit the number to centrifuges.

Merkel, Macron and Johnson called on Iran to refrain from withdrawing from the deal.

"We especially call on Iran to refrain from further violent actions and supporting such activities. We also urge Iran to refrain from actions that do not comply with the nuclear deal," the statement read. (ANI)

Germany says ‘not very helpful’ to threaten Iraq with sanctions

BERLIN/BRUSSELS: US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House will introduce and vote on a war powers resolution this week to limit US President Donald Trump’s military actions regarding Iran.

“It reasserts Congress’s long-established oversight responsibilities by mandating that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration’s military hostilities with regard to Iran cease within 30 days,” Pelosi said.

In Germany, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said US threats of sanctions against Iraq were not helpful and the the country should be convinced by arguments and not threats.

Officials from Germany, UK, and France will meet on Monday to discuss Iran’s latest announcements on the 2015 nuclear deal and will issue a statement afterwards, Maas said.

He added that Iran’s decision to roll back commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal “could be first step to end of this agreement.”

“We will definitely talk to Iran again. What has been announced is, however, not consistent with the agreement,” Maas told Deutschlandfunk radio.

“(The situation) has not got easier, and this could be the first step to the end of this agreement, which would be a big loss so we will weigh this up very, very responsibly now.”

NATO ambassadors will hold an extraordinary meeting at their Brussels headquarters on Monday as Middle East tensions mounted after US forces killed a top Iranian general.

“The North Atlantic Council will address the situation in the region,” a NATO official said.

“The secretary general decided to convene the meeting of NATO ambassadors following consultations with allies.”

The EU’s diplomatic chief Josep Borrell voiced regret at Tehran’s latest decision to reduce its commitments to the beleaguered 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

“Deeply regret Iran’s latest announcement on #JCPOA. As ever we will rely on @iaeaorg verification,” Borrell tweeted, using an abbreviation for the deal’s formal name.

“Full implementation of #NuclearDeal by all is now more important than ever, for regional stability & global security. I will continue working with all participants on way forward.”

Finally, he targeted Brett Kavanaugh, being one of the conduits for Christine Blasey Ford to levee her allegations against him.

So I guess it's clear the reason for the joke, Farrow targeted many powerful directors in TV and Film.

Nearly 200 People Arrested Across Australia For Deliberately Starting Bushfires

Authorities in Australia have arrested close to 200 people for deliberately starting the bushfires that have devastated the country, yet the media and celebrities continue to blame “climate change” for the disaster.

The fires have caused at least 18 deaths, destroyed thousands of homes, millions of hectares of land and killed hundreds of millions of animals.

A total of 183 people have been arrested by police in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania for lighting bushfires over the last few months, figures obtained by news agency AAP show.

In New South Wales, 24 people were arrested for arson, risking prison sentences of up to 25 years.

In Queensland, police concluded that 103 of the fires had been deliberately lit, with 98 people, 67 of them juveniles, having been identified as the culprits.

“The link between arsonists and the deadly fires that devastate Australia every summer is well known and well documented, with the rate of deliberately lit fires escalating rapidly during the school holiday period,” reports Breitbart’s Simon Kent.

Around 85 per cent of bushfires are caused by humans either deliberately or accidentally starting them, according to Dr Paul Read, co-director of the National Centre for Research in Bushfire and Arson.

“About 85 per cent are related to human activity, 13 per cent confirmed arson and 37 per cent suspected arson,” he said.

“The remainder are usually due to reckless fire lighting or even just children playing with fire.”

Read also highlighted the link between school holidays and kids starting fires, commenting, “School holidays are a prime time for fire bugs, but especially over summer.” The kids have got time to get out there and light, and the most dangerous adults choose hot days.”

New environmental policies that restrict “prescribed burning,” where land owners burn off flammable ground cover in cooler months in a controlled manner so it doesn’t contribute to bushfires, have also exacerbated the problem.

The fact that the bushfires were deliberately started and have nothing to do with man-made climate change hasn’t prevented that being the dominant narrative.

Last week, Bernie Sanders blamed those who were “delaying action on climate change” for “the blood-red sky and unbreathable air in Australia because of raging forest fires.”

Still-employed DOJ official Bruce Ohr says he was simply doing his "duty as a citizen" when he distributed the infamous Steele dossier through "numerous meetings, phone calls and emails" while acting "as a link between the FBI and Hillary Clinton forces" to take down Donald Trump, according to the Washington Times.

All this, while he was the #4 official at the Department of Justice - associate deputy attorney general, and in charge of the agency's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, titles Ohr was stripped of by Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein after his crusade to take Trump down was uncovered by DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz in November, 2017.

And while Ohr was swapping anti-Trump research with his wife Nellie - a Fusion GPS employee with CIA ties - he hid his efforts between the summer of 2016 and Trump's election from his bosses.

Recall that both Bruce and Nellie Ohr had ongoing communications with Christopher Steele, the dossier's author, even having breakfast with him on July 30, 2016 at the Mayflower Hotel in downtown Washington D.C. - one day before the FBI launched operation Crossfire Hurricane, and one week after Steele had given installments of his Clinton-funded anti-Trump research to the FBI.

Following the Ohrs' breakfast with Steele, Bruce immediately phoned the FBI and met with Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Lisa Page, a high-ranking FBI lawyer who was banging the head of counterintelligence - Peter Strzok - as they swapped anti-Trump text messages, while investigating Trump (yet no bias). Ohr later met with Strzok as well.

Clearly the lines between Ohr's personal crusade and his position as a top DOJ official had blurred, resulting in his demotions.

"The idea that he actually had some role in this Russia investigation was shocking to me," Rosenstein told the inspector general. "We had been fending off these congressional inquiries. And they were asking for all sorts of stuff, 302s [FBI reports] and things, and … I had no idea that somebody on my staff had actually been involved in … an operational way in the investigation."

Nellie Ohr, meanwhile, also appears to have gone on a mysterious personal crusade - becoming a late-life Ham radio enthusiast, which some suspect is how she covertly communicated with others about the Trump-Russia investigation.

According to the Times, Christopher Steele's FBI handler warned Ohr that "Steele could not be trusted."

Former Barclays Executive Tells Jury That He Isn’t ‘That Clever’

Former Barclays Plc executive Roger Jenkins told a London jury at his fraud trial that he and his colleagues wrestled with how an arrangement to pay Qatar fees for a 2008 deal would look to outsiders before adding that he was “not that clever.” Answering questions from Ed Brown, a prosecutor for the Serious Fraud Office, Jenkins said that the fees Barclays paid Qatar as part of the Gulf state’s 4 billion pound ($5.3 billion) investment in the bank were legitimate, but that it was also a question of making sure it appeared that way. Barclays agreed to pay Qatar more than the standard 1.5% investment fee it was offering other investors and settled on doing so through a so-called advisory services agreement. Barclays paid Qatar 322 million pounds under two ASAs, with the nation helping the bank expand its business in the region in return. The SFO alleges that those deals were fakes and only designed to make the payments look legitimate. Jenkins and two former colleagues deny charges that they concealed the extra fees from other investors.

On Monday, Jenkins said it took him and his colleagues a while to reassure themselves that an ASA was the best route to go. “I don’t think anyone in this case is under any illusion that what we’re dealing with here is a fine line,” Jenkins said. “This isn’t clear cut, you need to really think about this.” He added that it wasn’t a question about whether the deal was genuine, but simply about its “optics. Jenkins said the value Barclays was able to derive from a relationship with Qatar was beyond a doubt, given that the wealth it was generating from gas sales was growing rapidly and coming up with different banking services and co-investments was easy. “I jumped on this opportunity,” Jenkins said. “Who wouldn’t want this opportunity? I had no reason to doubt that the money you could make from Qatar was very, very, very substantial.”

It was the beginning of Brown’s cross-examination of Jenkins, one of the most senior bankers ever to go on trial in the U.K. Brown asked why it had taken a while for the Barclays bankers to come up with the ASA as a solution, when it sought to deepen its relationship with Qatar anyway. “If the advisory agreement in this context had been honest and such a good advantage to yourself and Barclays, you would have landed on it straight away,” Brown said. “If it was honest. Why didn’t it occur to you?”

When Jenkins said it might be because he’s “clearly not that clever,” Brown replied that the jury might disagree with him, given that he is “extremely sharp.” “I’m a very experienced banker, I have a moral compass,” Jenkins said. “I didn’t think of an advisory services agreement. Nor did anyone else interestingly enough. It only worked particularly in the context we had with the Qataris where I could see it would cost them not a cent to do it.” As Brown sought to show that Jenkins had something to hide, he pointed to an email Jenkins had written to co-defendant Tom Kalaris in which he suggested discussing the advisory deal rather than emailing about it. “Was it a question of keeping off the record what you’d like to say to Mr. Kalaris about fees being hard to sort?” Brown asked.

Jenkins said he preferred speaking, because he didn’t have the patience to log onto his laptop and it was slow typing up a complicated matter on his BlackBerry. “Mr. Brown, you know what I’m going to say to that, I don’t want to keep things off the record,” Jenkins said. “I am moving around and it’s better to go through this difficult thing - which is the side deal - on the telephone rather than setting it out in email.”

Suspect allegedly 'spiraling down' conspiracy theories, planned 'raid' to get child

PARKER, CO — We are learning more information about a 50-year-old Colorado woman was arrested on Dec. 31 in Northwest Montana for conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping.

Following a tip from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, police arrested Cynthia Abcug in Kalispell, according to the report. An FBI agent assisted local police in the arrest.

A heavily redacted affidavit obtained by Denver7 Saturday alleges Abcug was planning to kidnap her child, who she apparently lost custody of, in a "raid"-type operation with the help of believers of an extreme right-wing conspiracy theory.

The child was not with the suspect when police made the arrest.

The Parker mother of at least two children was the subject of an investigation by the Douglas County Department of Human Services and the Parker Police Department in September, according to the affidavit.

Parker police issued a warrant for Abcug’s arrest on Oct. 3, first reported by the Daily Beast , after one of Abcug’s children told authorities that their mother is a QAnon believer, and Abcug and others were planning a “raid” to get the suspect’s child back, the document states.

QAnon is a far-right conspiracy theory detailing a supposed secret plot by an alleged “deep state” existing within the U.S. government and working to undermine the Trump administration.

Authorities were unable to locate Abcug until her arrest Monday afternoon off of U.S. Highway 93 north of Kalispell. One male was detained during Abcug’s arrest but was released on scene.

The Parker suspect was taken to the Flathead County jail and is being held on a $250,000 bond.

The child who provided authorities with information on the alleged plot to kidnap Abcug’s child was removed from the suspect’s home on an emergency custody removal order on Sept. 26.

The child claimed that Abcug was “spiraling down” conspiracy theories and that she was living with a man who went by “Ryan” and acted as the suspect’s armed guard, according to the affidavit.

Abcug allegedly believed the people who had her child were “evil Satan worshipers” and “pedophiles,” according to the affidavit. The documents also allege that Abcug said: “that people would be injured during the raid.”

Police found QAnon paraphernalia inside the suspect's home, according to the affidavit. However, police were unable to verify the identity or location of "Ryan." No other arrests connected with the alleged plot were made.

A Parker police officer noted in the affidavit that Abcug was previously accused of factitious disorder imposed on another, previously called Munchausen syndrome by proxy. However, details of that case are not known.

Oil rallies & gold hits 7-year high as tensions flare in the Middle East

The escalating situation in the region following the assassination of a top Iranian military commander has given the yellow metal its highest rates in nearly seven years, and raised oil to prices last seen in mid-2019.

Gold, which is considered a safe haven investment amid political and economic turmoil, gained around 1.5 percent on Monday. At one point the precious metal hit $1,579.55 per ounce, the highest price since April 2013. As of 08:07am GMT it was already down to $1,571.95 per ounce - still around 1.3 percent more than in the previous session.

Rising US-Iran tensions could further boost gold prices, according to Goldman Sachs' projections. “All in all, we stick with our three, six and 12-month forecast of $1,600/toz (per troy ounce) but see upside risks if geopolitical tensions worsen,” its strategist said in a note Monday.

Another precious metal, palladium, also rallied on Monday as it reached a record price of $2,011.48 an ounce, according to Reuters.

Crude prices have been on the rise since the news broke of Qassem Soleimani’s death in a US airstrike in Baghdad last week. Oil experienced further gains on Monday amid fears that a conflict in the Middle East could disrupt global oil supplies.

The US benchmark was up 2 percent, trading at $64.32 per barrel - its highest level since April. Futures of global benchmark Brent climbed more than 2.3 percent and topped $70 per barrel, reaching a peak not seen since May. The last time both Brent and WTI posted such large gains was in September, when an attack on energy giant Saudi Aramco’s infrastructure temporarily halved the kingdom's oil production.

Washington and Tehran traded threats over the weekend, with US President Donald Trump vowing to respond in “disproportionate manner” should Iran “strike any US person or target.” He also said that the US could strike 52 Iranian targets, including cultural sites, should Iran attempt to revenge for Soleimani’s assassination.

Puerto Rico earthquake: VIDEOS show destruction after 5.8-magnitude tremor hits US territory

A powerful earthquake has unleashed havoc in Puerto Rico, leaving many in the US territory without power. The quake is reportedly one of the largest to date to hit the island.

Videos show collapsed homes in the aftermath of the 5.8-magnitude tremor, as well as roads covered in rocks and debris – apparently the result of a mudslide.

In one clip, a crushed car can be seen underneath a raised home whose foundation gave out.

Puerto Rico's southern region has suffered a string of smaller quakes, ranging in magnitude from 4.7 to 5.1, since late December.

It’s unclear whether anyone was seriously injured by Monday’s larger earthquake. Officials said there was no tsunami threat.

Boris Johnson has issued a veiled warning to Donald Trump after the US president threatened to destroy 52 Iranian cultural heritage sites, insisting that “there are international conventions in place” that forbid such actions.

In the aftermath of the assassination of Iran’s Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani in a US drone airstrike near Baghdad International Airport on Thursday night, Trump announced a number of threats against the Iranians via social media.

In one such threat, the US president talked about “targeting” Iranian sites, the number of which represents the “52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago.”

However, on Monday, Johnson’s official spokesman insisted that “there are international conventions in place that prevent the destruction of cultural heritage.” He stopped short of saying the killing of Soleimani was a ‘war crime’, claiming instead “states have a right to take actions such as this in self-defense.”

The US administration justified the action against the man widely regarded as the second most powerful figure in Iran – after the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – by claiming Soleimani was plotting imminent attacks against American diplomats and military personnel.

In response to the killing, the UK ordered its navy vessels to provide “protection” to all British-flagged ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf near Iran.

Despite what you may have seen floating around social media, the 2nd Marine Division has not begun involuntarily mobilizing Marines from the Individual Ready Reserve amid rising tension in the Middle East.

A bogus news story from "Chanel45News.com" claimed that, "with the heightened tensions with the ongoing conflict in Iraq," the division would recall IRR Marines, starting with those who had separated in 2016 and 2017, all of whom would have to attend a two-month combat readiness course at the School of Infantry on the East and West Coasts.

Troops in the IRR have left active duty but still have time left on their obligation to serve. They do not belong to drilling units.

The story was an obvious hoax: The Channel45News.com website says it allows users to "Create A Prank & Trick Your Friends!" by masquerading jokes as legitimate news stories, and the IRR recall is replete with typos and a disclaimer that says, "You've been pranked!"

Indeed, a 2nd Marine Division spokesman confirmed to Task & Purpose that the division was not recalling Marines who had recently left active duty.

"To the best of my knowledge, this is untrue," said Lt. Col. Lyle Gilbert. "A prank by the same name (replete with a clown graphic at the bottom of the post so stating) was cycling around social media over the weekend."

"No such word at the division ... as of now," Gilbert added.

During the Iraq war, the U.S. military involuntarily mobilized thousands of service members from the IRR. War critics accused the Pentagon of instituting a "backdoor draft" by recalling troops who thought they had left the service.

Speculation has emerged on social media that the U.S. military would once again mobilize troops from the IRR in the wake of the U.S. airstrike that killed Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran has vowed to retaliate for the strike.

President Trump on Monday demanded that his impeachment trial end quickly in the Senate, accusing House Democrats of a “con game” to help their chances during the 2020 election contest.

Trump lashed out against impeachment in a series of tweets, deriding it as a “scam,” “hoax” and “witch hunt” and saying it was “sad” that Democrats were focused on impeaching him at a time when he is “so busy.”

“The Impeachment Hoax, just a continuation of the Witch Hunt which started even before I won the Election, must end quickly,” Trump tweeted Monday morning.

According to Russia’s Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov, Iran declared that its nuclear program would be based on its technical needs

VIENNA, January 6./TASS/. The Iranian nuclear program will remain under strict international control after Tehran’s announcing a new stage of reducing commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOR), Russia’s Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov said on Sunday.

According to him, Iran had declared that its nuclear program would be based on its technical needs. "This decision does not give answers to all questions so far. Time will be needed to clarify the general picture and understand a new reality," Ulyanov blogged in Twitter.

"However, Iran confirms that his cooperation with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency - TASS) will continue. This means that the nuclear program remains under strict international control, including on the basis of the additional protocol. This is of paramount importance from the point of view of nuclear non-proliferation," the envoy stressed.

On Sunday, Iran declared a final step to reduce commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal. The new step envisages that Tehran won’t abide by the JCPOA limits on the number of centrifuges for enriching uranium.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was signed by Iran with the UN Security Council permanent members (Russia, the UK, China, the US, France) and Germany in 2015. The deal restricted Tehran’s nuclear development in exchange for lifting the UN sanctions and the unilateral restrictions imposed by the US and the EU.

The future of the 2015 agreement on Iran’s nuclear program was called into question after the United States’ unilateral pullout on May 8, 2018, and Washington’s oil export sanctions against Iran. As the Iranian side argues, the other parties to the nuclear deal, first of all, the European signatories, do not comply with their economic commitments in full and that is why the deal in its current form has no sense. Due to this, Iran started to scale down a part of its obligations under the JCPOA related to uranium enrichment and research activity.

Close to 400,000 anchor babies were born in the United States in 2019 as an executive order to end birthright citizenship gets kicked down the road for another year by President Donald Trump's administration.

Analysis conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies revealed in 2018 that about 300,000 U.S.-born children of illegal aliens are born every year. These children, often referred to as "anchor babies," immediately obtain American citizenship and anchor their illegal or foreign parents in the country.

In addition, about 72,000 anchor babies are born to foreign tourists, foreign visa workers, and foreign students every year — all of whom obtain immediate American citizenship simply for being born within the parameters of the country.

Altogether, about 372,000 anchor babies are estimated to have been born last year despite a commitment by Trump to sign an executive order ending the nation's "anchor baby policy" that incentivizes pregnant migrant women to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in the hopes of securing American citizenship for their children.

This indicates that there were more anchor babies born in 2019 than births in each of the 50 states except California and Texas. California residents deliver about 455,000 babies a year, while Texans deliver about 379,000 babies a year, just slightly more than the total annual number of anchor babies born.

On Saturday evening, a 13-year-old American boy was killed in Mexico while returning to the US.

Don't expect Trump to conduct any retaliatory strikes - those are only reserved for unnamed military contractors off somewhere in the Middle East!

Harvey Weinstein Facing Life In Prison As Rape Trial Begins

Harvey Weinstein's rape trial has begun, with the film producer facing up to life in prison as a possible outcome.

Weinstein has pleaded not guilty on charges of assaulting two women in New York and faces up to life in prison for the more serious charge, predatory sexual assault, according to Reuters.

Former production assistant Mimi Haleyi claimed that she was assaulted in 2006 and prosecutors say the second assault, on an unnamed woman, took place in 2013.

Weinstein was shown "limping" into the courtroom on Monday morning by the Daily News, who said he was "leaning on a walker and need[ed] help getting up stairs." At the same time, protesters were berating him. “Thank god your mother is not here to see this,” one protester yelled.

UPDATE: The LNA announced that the city of Sirte is now under its full control. However, the LNA is not going to develop the advance on the pro-GNA city of Misrata right now. Most likely, the LNA leadership is planning to negotiate a kind of a deal with the Misrata militia leadership.

On January 6, units of the Libyan National Army (LNA) took control of the Gardabiya Airbase near the city of Sirte and entered Sirte itself.

According to reports from the ground, a part of Sirte(Misrata) militia loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) defected to the LNA. The rest of them retreated from a large part of the town or surrendered weapons.

On January 5, Turkish President Recep Erdogan announced that Turkish troops had started deploying in Libya. However, the Turkish military personnel would not particiapte in direct fighting, according to the President. Furthermore, the deployment just started. So, there was not enough time to change the situation strategically.

A student from Indonesia was identified as Britain's most prolific rapist on Monday (local time) after being convicted of more than 150 offences, including 136 rapes.

In four separate trials, Reynhard Sinaga, 36, was found guilty of assaulting 48 men whom he drugged after taking them back to his apartment from outside bars and clubs in the city of Manchester.

Many of the victims were lured by the offer of a place to sleep or more drink, and Sinaga filmed the assaults on his mobile phone, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

At a court in Manchester, a judge ruled that Sinaga must serve at least 30 years in prison for 159 offences committed between January 2015 and May 2017, and lifted reporting restrictions.

Ian Rushton, a government prosecutor, described Sinaga as the "most prolific rapist in British legal history".

Sinaga, who has lived in the United Kingdom since 2007, targeted young men who looked drunk or vulnerable and rendered them unconscious with a sedative, probably the party drug gamma-hydroxybutyric acid that is known as GHB, the court was told.

The victims were mainly heterosexual and had little or no memory of the attacks but Sinaga was arrested after one of his victims woke up during an attack, fought him off and went to the police with one of his phones.

Police discovered graphic material "equivalent to 250 DVDs or 300,000 photos" depicting sexual assaults on Sinaga's digital devices.

Sinaga had said his victims were acting out sexual fantasies.

The court was told Sinaga kept men's belongings as trophies and looked them up on Facebook.

The rape investigation is the largest in British legal history and the first time prosecutors have split charges across four separate trials.

Police said there could be many more victims and are appealing for others who may have been targeted to come forward

Press Poll report: POTUS calls into Limbaugh

President Trump called into Rush Limbaugh’s radio show this afternoon for about 20 minutes. The president addressed developments in Iran, railed against Democrats and impeachment and said he had dinner recently with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

On Soleimani:

The president was asked about the recent developments in Iran, and he defended the decision to target Gen. Soleimani. He said Soleimani should have been taken out years ago.

On Democrats:

He accused Democrats of being "anti-Israel" and of supporting "open borders" and sanctuary cities. "They don't want a strong military," he said.

"I think they've lost their minds, you want to know the truth," Trump said. "You look at the impeachment hoax, and they have nothing. They have nothing."

On Pelosi holding onto articles of impeachment:

"I think what they’re trying to do is affect the election illegally," Trump said. "They are a joke. They are not crimes. There is nothing there. They found nothing. We went through two years of a Mueller report…"

“I think I’m more frustrated by it than you are," Limbaugh interjected.

“It’s so sad for our country. I mean think of it," Trump said. “Our country is doing so good. But I have to spend, and my team has to spend time on this stuff. They found nothing.”

"[Pelosi] doesn’t want to get a vote because how could anybody possibly—it’s totally fraudulent. This is not what they had in mind,” he said, referring to the founders.

On GOP unity:

Trump complimented House Republicans on their unanimous vote opposing both articles of impeachment.

"I think the Senate will be the same way, because the senate knows it’s a hoax," Trump said.

"I just think it’s a party of common sense. I’m conservative, but I think it’s common sense," he said. "It was like what we did two days ago with this horrible terrorist. He was a terrorist... Now the Democrats are trying to make him sound like he’s this wonderful human being."

On the media:

"You look at what they write, it’s so fake. It’s so phony, and now they’re trying to build [Soleimani], just like they did al-Baghdadi."

"That story disappeared very quickly, as you know. But they tried to build him up into a relatively wonderful man. He was a total bad guy."

The president credited Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin for getting the word out to his supporters.

On social media:

"Without Twitter I think we’d be lost. We wouldn't be able to get the truth out.”

"I wish I didn’t have to do it. I wish we had legitimate newspapers and legitimate media. We don’t. I call it corrupt. It’s the corrupt media.

Trump noted he’s up to nearly 70 million followers on Twitter.

The president said he had dinner "the other day" with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, though he did not specify the exact timing. He said Zuckerberg congratulated him for being "No. 1 on Facebook."

Harvey Weinstein indicted on new sex crimes in Los Angeles

Harvey Weinstein has been indicted on new sex crime charges in Los Angeles, just as his trial on separate rape and sexual assault charges in New York was poised to get underway, prosecutors announced Monday.

The Hollywood mogul has been charged with raping one woman and sexually assaulting another in separate incidents over a two-day period in 2013, Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a news release.

“We believe the evidence will show that the defendant used his power and influence to gain access to his victims and then commit violent crimes against them,” Lacey said in a statement. “I want to commend the victims who have come forward and bravely recounted what happened to them. It is my hope that all victims of sexual violence find strength and healing as they move forward.”

JUDGE ALLOWS CONSOLIDATION OF CHARGES AGAINST HARVEY WEINSTEIN

Weinstein allegedly raped a woman in a hotel room on Feb. 18, 2013, after he pushed his way inside her room, prosecutors said. The next night, he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in a Beverly Hills hotel suite. That woman is expected to testify at Weinstein's trial in New York.

The Los Angeles district attorney’s task force is still investigating sex crime allegations against Weinstein from three women, Lacey said. Prosecutors declined charges involving three other women because their cases were beyond the statute of limitations.

Weinstein faces up to 28 years in state prison if he is convicted of the charges filed in L.A. of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint. His arraignment has not yet been scheduled and prosecutors will recommend $5 million bail. Weinstein is expected to appear in court in California after his trial in New York is finished, Lacey said.

The Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment on the new charges.

The news came the same day that Weinstein and several of the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct converged Monday at the New York City courthouse where a judge and his lawyers handled the final preparations for his high-stakes trial on charges of rape and assault.

The Trump administration is set to begin deporting Mexican asylum seekers to Guatemala, according to internal documents, marking the latest initiative to help manage the immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border.

An asylum agreement signed between the Trump administration and the Guatemalan government is expanding to include Mexican nationals, according to internal United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) documents reviewed by Reuters. Agency staffers, according to a recent email directive, have been informed that Mexican citizens will be included in the populations subject to the Guatemalan asylum deal.

USCIS did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Trump administration inked an asylum deal with Guatemala’s outgoing government in July, and it began to be implemented in November. Under the agreement, migrants who apply for asylum at the U.S. southern border can be relocated to Guatemala in order to seek protected status there. So far, very few migrants deported to Guatemala have opted to stay, choosing instead to go back to their homes countries.

Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf tweeted Saturday that the bulletin was intended to “inform & reassure the American public, state/local governments & private partners that DHS is actively monitoring & preparing for any specific, credible threat, should one arise.”

The bulletin, which also warned of the potential for Iran to attempt to carry out terrorist attacks on the U.S., recommended that Americans implement basic measures to defend against cyberattacks, such as backing up data and using two-factor authentication on sensitive accounts.

DHS wrote that while an “attack in the homeland may come with little or no warning,” DHS is working with state and local officials to “detect and defend” against any threats to the U.S.

The Intelligence Community has made note of Iran’s increasing abilities to carry out cyberattacks against the U.S. for most of the past decade, with Iran considered one of the top nation-state threats to the U.S. in cyberspace alongside Russia, China and North Korea.

Homeland Security Says It Will Share Citizenship Data With Census Bureau

months after an executive order issued by President Donald Trump ordered agencies to do so.

Trump ordered federal agencies to share data with the Census Bureau after the Supreme Court ruled against the administration’s attempts to add a citizenship question back onto the census for 2020.

The nation’s highest court said in a 5-4 ruling that the administration didn’t provide adequate reasoning for putting the question back on the census. Attorney General William Barr said the administration would have ultimately prevailed in the court battle, but he and Trump chose to go another route.

In a document (pdf) issued in late December 2019, the DHS said it would be sharing information with the Department of Commerce and the Census Bureau to help determine “the number of citizens, lawfully present non-citizens, and unauthorized immigrants in the United States during the decennial census (2020 Census).”

Jeffrey Epstein didn’t kill himself.

That’s a meme that’s exploded on the internet. And for good reason, apparently.

CBS News on Sunday released explosive new photos showing the convicted pedophile’s jail cell, where he supposedly committed suicide, strewn with scraps of bed sheets and a supposed noose.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden on Monday said the photos showing injuries to Epstein’s neck convince him that the “findings are more indicative of homicide” than a suicide.

“I think there’s a lot of information that still hasn’t been revealed yet that is essential in order to arrive at a conclusion, whether this is a suicide or homicide,” Baden, the pathologist hired by Epstein’s brother to investigate his death, said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.

“I think the closing out of the case as a suicide so quickly was premature.”

The photos show makeshift nooses Epstein supposedly made out of bedsheets at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. But his neck is deeply marked, prompting questions about whether a cotton sheet could cut so deeply.

Baden, a former New York City medical examiner, said the photo showing the marks on Epstein’s neck “doesn’t match the ligature that was found at the scene and that the medical examiner copied to show how he was hanged.”

He added that “it was too wide and too smooth. This is a rougher injury.”

And he had more.

Baden also questioned Epstein’s two fractures on the left and right sides of his larynx, specifically the thyroid cartilage or Adam’s apple, and on the left hyoid bone above the Adam’s apple.

The doctor also said there are many unanswered questions. “I think the important thing is to find out what was seen when the guards first went into the cell. Was he hanging? Was he on the ground? As some people reported when he was found,” Baden said.

And he said “the removal of the body destroyed a lot of the forensic evidence.”

“EMS is not supposed to remove dead bodies from jails,” Baden said. “They’re supposed to have a whole forensic workup, what kind of forensic evidence is on the clothing, how long the person was dead.

“We can tell from the ligature mark that he had been — there was a tight ligature around his neck for many hours, and the front of the neck, before he was found — so he was dead for a long time. But we could be more specific about that if somebody tested out the stiffness of the body, et cetera, at the scene.”

“A lot was lost when the body was removed,” he said.

I tried posting the picture of the ligature marks, but I suspect I didn't do it right. But if you go to the link I provided, you will see the picture. Notice how there seems to be a crossover - something that would occur if someone was standing behind you and twisting the ligature. Also notice how low on the neck it is. Wouldn't it work it's way up do to the weight of the body if by hanging?

In 1978 and 1979, Hillary Rodham Clinton conducted a series of trades in cattle futures. She turned her $1,000 investment into nearly $100,000 (equivalent to $352,269 in 2019) in just 10 months.

Chelsea Clinton has hauled in $9 million in compensation since 2011 as a board member of an internet investment company, according to Barron’s, the financial publication.

Clinton, the only child of former President Bill Clinton and the former Secretary, has served on IAC/InterActiveCorp, a media and internet investment company owns a stake in 150 major brands, such as Vimeo, Tinder, Angie’s List and Home Advisor.

She gets an annual $50,000 retainer and $250,000 worth of restricted IAC stock units, Barron’s reports.

“She reported owning $8.95 million worth of IAC stock to the Securities and Exchange Commission at the end of December,” The Hill reported.

Barron’s notes that IAC’s stock has risen 89 percent, 50 percent and 36 percent in 2017, 2018 and 2019, respectively, a far steeper rise than the broader stock market.

Clinton’s public profile has proved a valuable commodity.

She earned an annual salary of $600,000 working as a special correspondent for NBC News in 2013 and part of 2014.

Clinton was named to the board of Expedia Group in March of 2017, a position that typically earned $250,000 in 2015, according to a report at the time by The Guardian.

Both IAC and Expedia are controlled by Barry Diller, the business and television mogul, who is a friend of Hillary Clinton.

Last May, the Daily Mail decided to take a look at the former first daughter’s income, and what they found was fascinating.

Chelsea Clinton, 39, took home just over $600,000 last year for her work as director on the boards of IAC and Expedia, according to records obtained by DailyMail.com.

The IAC board met just six times in 2018, while some members of the Expedia board were only obligated to attend two meetings last year.

Those two companies are both headed up by the family’s good friend Barry Diller, the billionaire businessman and longtime partner of designer Diane von Furstenberg, who is often spotted attending Broadway shows with Chelsea and her parents.

Chelsea has been getting free money for years, just like her mother did. Chelsea Clinton once made $600,000 a year to produce a few “feel-good pieces” for NBC News — where she was a “special correspondent.” She has amassed a huge fortune and now lives in a $10 million “luxury fortress” in Manhattan. The pad is New York’s longest apartment – stretching an entire block from 26th Street to 27th Street off Madison Avenue.

Described as ‘a luxury fortress‘ with one full-time doorman to the horizontal building’s four units, it takes almost 30 seconds to walk the 250-foot hallway, according to New York Daily News.

Trump administration denies Iran's top diplomat visa to attend UN meeting: report

President Trump’s administration denied Iran’s foreign minister a visa to attend a United Nations Security Council meeting as tensions between the U.S. and Iran increase, Foreign Policy reported Monday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was reportedly denied access to the U.S. to address the Security Council at a Thursday meeting, three diplomatic sources told Foreign Policy.

The visa denial was in violation of the 1947 headquarters agreement mandating the U.S. to allow in foreign officials to conduct U.N. business, according to the publication.

Zarif was expected to address the world for the first time after the U.S. conducted a strike killing Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani. 

The foreign minister reportedly filed for a visa a “few weeks ago” to discuss the importance of the U.N. Charter, a diplomatic source familiar with the matter told Foreign Policy. 

A Trump administration told U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres Monday that the U.S. would deny Zarif’s visa, a Washington-based diplomatic source told the news outlet.

The Hill reached out to the State Department and the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the U.N. for comment. The U.N. declined to comment. 

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has limited access to the U.S. by Iranian officials, including Zarif, to prevent their ability to bring their message to the U.S. public.

Iran has vowed retaliation against the U.S. for the strike that killed Soleimani last week. President Trump responded by threatening to target 52 sites in Iran if the country retaliates, representing the 52 hostages taken in the 1979 crisis.

Iran also ended its commitment to the nuclear deal that Trump withdrew from in 2018 before imposing sanctions on the country.

The United States Secret Service is “aware” of an Instagram post from comedian George Lopez that many perceived as a threat on President Donald Trump’s life.

“The Secret Service is aware of the [post] made by Mr. Lopez,” a U.S. Secret Service representative told the Daily Caller via a statement. “The Secret Service takes all threats against the President and or any of our protectees seriously, and as a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence.”

US Africa Command identifies soldier killed in al-Shabaab attack in Kenya

The Defense Department on Monday confirmed the death of the soldier killed over the weekend in a terror attack on a Kenyan airbase used by U.S. troops.

Spc. Henry Mayfield Jr., 23, of Evergreen Park, Ill., was killed on Sunday during a morning attack on a Kenya Defense Forces military base in Manda Bay, according to a Pentagon statement.

Two U.S. contractors were also killed and two Pentagon personnel were wounded in the attack claimed by the East Africa-based al Qaeda affiliate al-Shabaab.

No additional details of the incident were released as it is under investigation.

KASSAM: Democrats Supported Obama Killing Americans With Drones, But Take Issue With Trump Killing Terrorists

War with Iran is unavoidable, at least according to the media.

Democrats have been wringing their hands over Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani’s death, with some calling it a “war crime” and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seeking to restrict the president’s powers.

But what did Democrats say when President Obama used his executive powers to strike (and kill) U.S. citizens in Yemen in 2011, including a 16-year-old boy?

Democratic Sens. Ron Wyden of Oregon, Mark Udall of Colorado, and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico said in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder that the use of force was “legitimate use of the authority granted to the president.”

They said Obama had met the legal standard.

These three senators were part of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee. They went on to describe the killing of terror leader Anwar al-Awlaki:

Mr. al-Aulaqi [sic] clearly made a conscious decision to join an organized fighting force that was (and is) engaged in planning and carrying out attacks against the United States,” the senators wrote. “By taking on a leadership role in this organization, involving himself in ongoing operational planning against the United States, and demonstrating the capacity and intent to carry out these operations, he made himself a legitimate target for military action.

Does the same rationale apply to Soleimani? Or has it suddenly changed?

After all, Soleimani was the head of the Quds Force, recently designated a terrorist organization by the United States government.
