Kodak chief got sweetheart stock options deal — one day before Trump announced $765 million loan

Former photography pioneer Kodak received a huge infusion of cash from President Donald Trump this week.

But it is what happened one day before that is raising eyebrows.

“At the beginning of this week, the Eastman Kodak Company handed its chief executive 1.75 million stock options,” The New York Times reported Friday.

“It was the type of compensation decision that generally wouldn’t attract much notice, except for one thing: The day after the stock options were granted, the White House announced that the company would receive a $765 million federal loan to produce ingredients to make pharmaceuticals in the United States,” the newspaper reported. “The news of the deal caused Kodak’s shares to soar more than 1,000 percent. Within 48 hours of the options grants, their value had ballooned, at least on paper, to about $50 million.

Director of NIH speaks to News 2 about vaccine trial progress

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health said he’s ready for answers. “We all want to find out how to put this COVID-19 virus, this bad guy, in the rear-view mirror.”

The NIH has started the mRNA-1273 vaccine trial in 89 clinical research sites in the US located in emerging hot zones.

“We know this virus is out there in Nashville,” said Dr. Collins, “It’s a place where we want to test it and see if it works.”

The phase 3 trial will take place at Vanderbilt and the following volunteers are needed:

Those over the age of 18 with frequent close contact with others who may be infected like health care, factory, and retail employees.

People over the age of 65 with or without risks.

And those younger than 65 with at least one risk factor such as chronic lung disease, asthma, cardiac disease, severe obesity, diabetes, or liver disease.

“It’s one dose on day one and another does on day 28 a two-dose vaccine,” Collins explained, “Then you get watched for 2 to 3 months to see what happens.”

“What would you say to those who are concerned that in an effort to prove efficacy quickly, you’re compromising safety?” asked News 2 Anchor, Alex Denis.

“Thanks for that question, Alex,” responded Dr. Collins, “O think people are concerned. This government effort is called Operation Warp Speed which is supposed to indicate how rapidly we’re trying to move, but I think it makes people worried a little bit. Like, wait a minute, are you cutting corners here?”

Dr. Collins continued by explaining the process.

“The part we’re doing that’s rapid is to deal with some of the bureaucratic delays which often take vaccines years to develop and none of those are being allowed. But the actual conduct of the trial, and the assessment of the results, will be as rigorous as it’s ever been and the FDA will not approve any vaccine that doesn’t measure up to the highest standard of being safe and effective,” Collins said.

Today the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons filed its motion for a preliminary injunction to compel release to the public of hydroxychloroquine by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), in AAPS v. HHS, No. 1:20-cv-00493-RJJ-SJB (W.D. Mich.). Nearly 100 million doses of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) were donated to these agencies, and yet they have not released virtually any of it to the public.

Millions of Americans fear attending political gatherings, religious services, and even large family get-togethers without the availability of early treatment if they were to contract COVID-19. Why should Americans have to wait until they or a loved one is on a ventilator before they gain access to medication to overcome this virus?

“Why does the government continue to withhold more than 60 million doses of HCQ from the public?” asks Jane Orient, M.D., the Executive Director of AAPS. “This potentially life-saving medication is wasting away in government warehouses while Americans are dying from COVID-19.”

Today AAPS files its motion for a preliminary injunction to compel the government to release HCQ from its stockpile to the public, which could then immediately benefit from it. More discussions between Jerusalem and Washington are needed for annexation to take place, as are gestures toward the Palestinians, the source said, but the move could possibly get underway in the near future.

The controversial plan had all but disappeared from the public agenda since Berkowitz’s last visit to Jerusalem in late June. But the envoy has held ongoing meetings on the matter, preparing for various options, the source told The Times of Israel on Monday.

Senior officials in Washington have repeatedly said that it was up to Israel to decide if and when it wants to extend sovereignty over parts of the West Bank, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday indicated that the ball was in Washington’s court.

The US team working on the Israeli-Palestinian file wants to make sure that any Israeli annexation would be combined with some kind of goodwill gesture toward the Palestinians, and Berkowitz has been working on a “package” to sweeten the pill of annexation for the Palestinians, the source said, without elaborating.

Typhoon Hagupit is bearing down on Shanghai threatening to exacerbate existing flooding along the Yangtze River basin and add further stress to dams already over warning levels.

The number of people affected by the flooding has climbed to 55 million.

Other reports suggest that a minimum of 4 million acres of farm land are still under water.

MSNBC Producer Quits, Writes That ‘The Job Itself Forces Skilled Journalists To Make Bad Decisions On A Daily Basis’

MSNBC producer Ariana Pekary quit the network in July and wrote a blog post Monday explaining how she believes “the news” – including her former network – “is fundamentally flawed.”

Pekary worked in public radio for 12 years until she transitioned to MSNBC in 2014, according to her LinkedIn. Most recently, she was a producer for the network’s late-night show “Up Late with Alec Baldwin.” Pekary detailed the reasons for her departure on her blog, tweeting that “it’s not the optimal time for change but the time doesn’t feel optional, anymore.”

“July 24th was my last day at MSNBC,” according to Pekary. “I don’t know what I’m going to do next exactly but I simply couldn’t stay there anymore. My colleagues are very smart people with good intentions. The problem is the job itself. It forces skilled journalists to make bad decisions on a daily basis.”

Pekary added that MSNBC is not the only network to function this way. According to her, all of them do. She also said that the “content seeps into … social media” as well. She cited her former job in public radio and how it differed from the MSNBC gig, as ratings did not determine content.

“It’s possible that I’m more sensitive to the editorial process due to my background in public radio, where no decision I ever witnessed was predicated on how a topic or guest would ‘rate,'” she wrote. “The longer I was at MSNBC, the more I saw such choices — it’s practically baked in to the editorial process – and those decisions affect news content every day. Likewise, it’s taboo to discuss how the ratings scheme distorts content, or it’s simply taken for granted, because everyone in the commercial broadcast news industry is doing the exact same thing.”

“But behind closed doors, industry leaders will admit the damage that’s being done.”

One TV veteran told Pekary that they were “a cancer” with “no cure,” she wrote in her blog. A senior producer added that: “Our viewers don’t really consider us the news. They come to us for comfort.”

“The model blocks diversity of thought and content because the networks have incentive to amplify fringe voices and events, at the expense of others… all because it pumps up the ratings,” Pekary continued. “This cancer risks human lives, even in the middle of a pandemic.”

The former MSNBC producer wrote that “this cancer risks our democracy,” too, and that “context and factual data are often considered too cumbersome for the audience.” On rare occasions, “the producers will choose to do a topic or story without regard for how they think it will rate, but that is the exception, not the rule,” she noted.

“Again, personally, I don’t think the people need to change,” Pekary explained. “I think the job itself needs to change. There is a better way to do this. I’m not so cynical to think that we are absolutely doomed (though we are on that path). I know we can find a cure.”

“Now maybe we can’t really change the inherently broken structure of broadcast news, but I know for certain that it won’t change unless we actually face it, in public, and at least try to change it.”

Pekary’s goodbye post ended with a note that she plans to begin to seek out “any one of you who also may sense that the news is fundamentally flawed and is frustrated by it.”

“This effort will start informally but I hope to crystallize a plan for when better, safer days are upon us,” she wrote. “On that front, feel free to reach out anytime if you would like to discuss any of this – whether in agreement or not. More than ever, I’m craving a full and civil discourse.”

Is he looking back in time into the FISA(702) abuses that took place during the 2016 primary season?…. That would be in addition to the familiar “unmasking” aspect?… and, if yes, what would that indicate?

Short answer is: no-one is certain. AG Barr did mention that Bash is looking backward on the unmasking issues beyond the timeline scope of the 2016 presidential election. That would indicate surveillance “unmasking” and FISA “minimization” would meld because essentially the terms are synonymous depending on the type of intelligence exploitation.

Justice Department Rebukes OIG Probe: Barr Clears FBI of Wrong Doing in 29 Controversial FISA Cases, Nothing to See Here, Move Along Folks

Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers stated:

“The Department of Justice has completed its review of the 29 FISA applications that were the subject of preliminary findings by the DOJ Inspector General (OIG) in March 2020. We are pleased that our review of these applications concluded that all contained sufficient basis for probable cause and uncovered only two material errors, neither of which invalidated the authorizations granted by the FISA Court.

“These findings, together with the more than 40 corrective actions undertaken by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Division, should instill confidence in the FBI’s use of FISA authorities.

“We would like to express our appreciation to the OIG for their focus on the Department’s use of its national security authority. We remain committed to improving the FISA process to ensure that we use these tools consistent with the law and our obligations to the FISA Court. The ability to surveil and to investigate using FISA authorities remains critical to confronting current national security threats, including election interference, Chinese espionage and terrorism.”

Background

In March 2020, the OIG issued a Memorandum regarding the preliminary findings from its audit of 29 historical FISA applications. The audit was designed to determine whether the contents of the FBI’s Woods files supported the factual statements in these applications.

The OIG found deficient documentation in these accuracy (i.e., Woods) files and potential errors. Specifically, the OIG found that FBI was unable to produce the Woods files for 4 of the 29 applications, and the OIG identified numerous apparent errors or inadequately supported facts in all 25 of the 29 applications for which Woods files could be produced.

The OIG did not determine whether any factual assertions in the applications were inaccurate, materially or otherwise. In addition, when the OIG found a fact unsupported by a document in the Woods file, the OIG did not give the FBI the opportunity to locate a supporting document for the fact outside the file.

The Department has reviewed the OIG’s preliminary findings for each application. Each of these applications was also subject to an independent accuracy review. The Department was able to resolve many of the potential issues identified by the OIG. The FBI was also able to compile Woods files for the 4 applications where an original Woods file could not be located, and the FBI was able in many instances to locate documentation to support a factual assertion either elsewhere in the Woods file or in other files available to the FBI.

Based on the Department’s findings, of the hundreds of pages of facts contained in the 29 applications audited by the OIG, the Department has identified only one material misstatement and one material omission, neither of which we assess to have invalidated the authorizations granted by the FISC. These findings have been provided to the FISA Court and were posted publicly today.

Charles Hurt: Nadler Calls Riots ‘Myth’ — Then Blames Them on Trump and Barr

On his way to a hearing last week, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler was in a car accident.

Thankfully, the New York pol was unhurt. But the accident caused Mr. Nadler to be an hour late to the hearing.

Watching Mr. Nadler during that hearing, which starred Attorney General William Barr, you might think he had hit his head in the accident. But, alas, Mr. Nadler was already that dumb. Even before the accident, he was severely damaged goods.

That said, it is always unwise to underestimate Mr. Nadler. Just ask House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, the slender California Democrat with a long neck.

In a race to a microphone on the Senate floor earlier this year during the impeachment proceedings, Mr. Schiff thought he could just take his time and slowly saunter over. Something about Mr. Nadler made Mr. Schiff think he could play rabbit to Mr. Nadler’s tortoise to the microphone.

With a microphone serving as the carrot, Mr. Nadler proved swifter than any rabbit. Mr. Schiff was left spinning in Mr. Nadler’s dust. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, reigning world champion in the five-yard microphone dash, marveled from the peanut gallery at Mr. Nadler’s Olympic abilities.

Perhaps, it was the waiting microphone before the empty chair in the House Judiciary Committee hearing room last week that saved Mr. Nadler’s life. No mere automobile accident would keep him from holding court — especially when he himself is the court jester.

As it turned out, the automobile accident was so minor that the airbag did not deploy — until he got seated in the hearing room. And then the giant airbag EXPLODED.

“You really can’t hide behind legal fictions,” Mr. Nadler raged at Mr. Barr, who had just explained that as a member of President Trump’s Cabinet he was not at liberty to divulge privileged discussions with the president.

Though Mr. Nadler attended law school, it is not clear if he was ever a terribly successful lawyer. Somewhere along the line, however, he got struck with just enough common sense to realize that the rioting in the streets that he and fellow Democrats refuse to condemn and Mr. Nadler is on record calling “a myth” does not look very good heading into an election.

So, Mr. Nadler sought to blame the riots on Mr. Barr and, by extension, on Mr. Trump. Yes, Mr. Nadler — AKA the exploded airbag — blames the riots on the only people who are lifting a finger to curb the riots and enforce, you know, the laws. You know, the ones arresting rioters for assaulting innocent people, firebombing public buildings, torching police cars, and using lasers to blind officers.

“The president wants footage for his campaign and you appear to be serving it up to him as ordered,” Mr. Nadler wheezed.

Yes, the looting and arson and bloodshed, the roping of statues in Washington, D.C., and Portland, Oregon, is all the fault of President Trump. And Bill Barr.

“Shame on you, Mr. Barr! Shame on you!”

By then, all the air had leaked out of the giant airbag and when Mr. Barr offered to answer the questions he had been called into the hearing for, the wheedling Nadler could only gasp, “My time has expired. My time has expired.”

The whole hearing proved as enlightening as a clown car smash-up derby. Nobody was actually seeking answers. They just wanted to scream at Mr. Barr. And, whenever the attorney general offered to reply, they shouted, “Reclaiming my time!”

As Mr. Barr noted, this is not normally how hearings go. Usually, the government official (in this case, Mr. Barr) is required to provide actual answers to actual questions posed by the committee.

But these are no more “hearings” than the bloodthirsty arson and mayhem in the streets are “protests.”

It’s all smash-and-grab politics and Jerold Nadler is the mythical airbag lording over all of it.

Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters issued “social justice” and “black liberation” demands regarding “diversity” to a restaurant owner in Louisville, KY, including a directive for “donations” to organizations run by non-whites.

Listed demands from a BLM affiliate in Louisville include racial quotas for staff and ownership of business suppliers, donations to organizations run by non-whites, and adjustment to dress codes. The posters used the acronym “BIPOC” (“black or indigenous persons of color”) as a euphemism for non-white persons:

Regular donations to BIPOC organization

Dress code policy does not discriminate against BIPOC patrons of employees.

Additional demands issued via the letter included the option to give 1.5 percent of revenues to a local “black nonprofit or organization” in lieu of purchasing a minimum of 23 percent of the business’s inventory from “black retailers,” mandated “diversity and inclusion training” for all employees, and displaying of left-wing messaging to support “reparations.”

The posters include a stated commitment to be publicly visible as a public service announcement pending future “inspections” of restaurants and other businesses.

Three varieties of posters with the message, “YOU CAN’T STOP THE REVOLUTION,” were directed at restaurants in Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood with the grades A, C, and F according to a “NuLu Social Justice Health and Wellness Code.”

“Repercussions of non-compliance” are listed in the letter:

Reduction in Racial Index Score/bias report to the Better Business Bureau.

Social Media Blast: Notification, via all social media platforms, of non-compliance.

Boycott: Public boycott, coordinated through social media and mail announcements, of yours NuLu establishment AND any other business ventures owned by you.

Protest: Visible, media-covered demonstration/sit-in outside your establishment.

Invasive Reclamation: Placement of booths/tables outside your establishment where competing Black proprietors will offer items comparable to those offered by you.

Black Lives Matter Protesters Swarm Seattle Police Chief’s Home

A large group of “aggressive” protesters swarmed Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best’s Snohomish County home over the weekend, the police chief confirmed in an August 2 letter addressed to members of the Seattle City Council, detailing the incident.

Dozens of vehicles lined the road as roughly 200 protesters, “mostly white men and women in their twenties,” gathered in the neighborhood to protest, according to the Lynwood Times. The protesters wore masks and held signs reading, “Black Lives Matter.”

The outlet reported that protesters “shouted profanity and insults at neighbors, took license plate information on vehicles, took pictures of homes, and asked little kids who lived in the neighborhood what schools they attended.”

Some demonstrators attempted to head to Best’s residence (she was not at home at the time) but were stopped by neighbors, who “established a perimeter to protect her [Best’s] home from possible mischief.”

“I feel incredibly unsafe,” one neighbor, who predicted that it will “happen again,” told the paper.

“Their objective was not completed; they never made it to her house, we stopped them … so we think they will be back,” the neighbor added.

Another resident detailed the nature of the protesters to the outlet, describing them as “very organized.”

“They had radios, talking to each other. They had numbers they used to decal all their cars for who knows what. So, they were identifying all their vehicles individually by number. They came with a mission. … They were out here intimidating us,” the individual said, according to the Lynwood Times.

“My neighbors were concerned by such a large group, but they were successful in ensuring the crowd was not able to trespass or engage in other illegal behavior in the area, despite repeated attempts to do so,” Best wrote in an August 2 letter to the Seattle City Council.

Best told the council that the local police sheriff is “monitoring the situation,” which Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney affirmed in a statement to the Lynwood Times.

“I assured her [Best] that the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office would deploy whatever resources were necessary to protect her, her family, and her property,” Fortney said.

Best, in the letter, urged the council to “stand up for what is right” and condemn the actions of such demonstrators.

She wrote:

These direct actions against elected officials, and especially civil servants like myself, are out of line with and go against every democratic principle that guides our nation. Before this devolves into the new way of doing business by mob rule here in Seattle, and across the nation, elected officials like you must forcefully call for the end of these tactics.

The events of this summer were initiated in a moment of grief and outrage over the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers and so many other Black and Brown people suffering at the hands of injustice. All of us must ensure that this righteous cause is not lost in the confusion of so many protestors now engaging in violence and intimidation, which many are not speaking against.

California Rep. Karen Bass, a top contender to be presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s 2020 running mate, denied having ties to the Nation of Islam, despite photos and event appearances linking her to the group.

Bass has appeared at events and has been photographed with top Nation of Islam official Tony Muhammad, who praised her as one of the few members of Congress he trusts.

Bass also attended a forum organized by the Final Call, the “official communications organ of the Nation of Islam.”

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has described Jewish people as “satanic,” praised Adolf Hitler as a “very great man” and blamed Jewish people for both the Holocaust and 9/11.

Rep. Karen Bass, a top contender to become presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s running mate, appeared at Nation of Islam events, posed for a picture with a top Nation of Islam official, and attended a forum in 2013 hosted by the organization’s official mouthpiece.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has referred to Jewish people as “satanic,” blamed them for the Holocaust and the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks, and once praised Adolf Hitler as a “very great man.” Farrakhan has also denounced interracial marriage, which he said has “mongrelized” the black race.

The Nation of Islam holds that white people were created 6,000 years ago as the result of a selective breeding program by a black scientist called Yakub.

“This teaching of the birth of the White race has been central to the belief system in the Nation of Islam and it has been met with hostility and profound resistance by its critics, who have most commonly termed it ‘hate teaching,'” the Final Call, the Nation of Islam’s official mouthpiece, states on its website.

These are transcripts from media outlets ABC, CBS, NBC, in how they shaped the narrative of George Floyd arrest for viewers.

CBS At the top of the report, CBS chief Justice correspondent Jeff Pegues used a clip from the leaked footage showing Lane’s initial contact with Floyd. But it cut off before Lane could be heard saying “stop resisting.” At one point, Pegues admitted the video “shows Floyd resisting the officer’s attempt to place him in the squad car.” But again, he never played the audio of Officer Lane.

NBC NBC, anchor Lester Host noted that leaked video provided “the clearest picture yet of what led up to the deadly confrontation.” And correspondent Gabe Gutierrez admitted: “These body camera videos were viewed in person by NBC News last month, but they have not been distributed publicly.” Gutierrez also used a soundbite from when Lane was trying to get Floyd out of his SUV, but he too cut off before the order was given. NBC also admitted that the videos showed how “officers handcuffed Floyd and then struggled to get him into the squad car.” Gutierrez then played this highly-edited clip of the struggle.

While the video doesn’t show any justification for Floyd’s death, it represented an intentionally missed opportunity by the networks to fully inform the public of what happened. Democratic Massachusetts Congressman, Gerry Studds, was censured by the House of Representatives after he admitted to an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old page.

Democratic Former Mayor of Stillwater, New York, Rick Nelson was plead guilty to five counts of possession of child pornography of children less than 16 years of age.

Democratic Former Mayor of Clayton, New York, Dale Kenyon, was indicted for sexual acts against a teenager.

Democratic Former Mayor of Millbrook, New York, Donald Briggs, was arrested and charged with inappropriate sexual contact with a person younger than 17.

Democratic party leader for Victoria County, Texas, Stephen Jabbour, plead guilty to possession and receiving over half a million child pornographic images.

Democratic activist and fundraiser, Terrence Bean, was arrested on charges of sodomy and sex abuse in a case involving a 15-year-old boy and when the alleged victim declined to testify, and the judge dismissed the case.

Democratic Party Chairman for Davidson County, Tennessee, Rodney Mullin, resigned amid child pornography allegations.

Democratic activist, Andrew Douglas Reed, pleaded guilty to a multiple counts of 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor for producing child pornography.

Democratic official from Terre Haute, Indiana, David Roberts was sentenced to federal prison for producing and possessing child pornography including placing hidden cameras in the bedrooms and bathrooms at a home he shared with two minor female victims.

Sen. Cruz: Local officials should be held accountable for 'letting their cities burn'

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is aiming to highlight the role Antifa and like-minded groups are playing in riots across the country, convening a Senate hearing Tuesday on the issue while alleging that radical left-wing groups are engaging in "organized terror attacks" designed to tear down government institutions.

“Across the country, we’re seeing horrific violence, we’re seeing our country torn apart. Violent anarchists and Marxists are exploiting protests to transform them into riots and direct assaults on the lives and safety of their fellow Americans,” Cruz told Fox News in an interview.

SEN CRUZ: DEMOCRATIC POLITICIANS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR 'LETTING THEIR CITIES BURN'

On Tuesday, Cruz will chair a hearing of the Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution to investigate groups such as Antifa, which, while active for years, have recently escalated their presence in the wake of George Floyd's death in police custody. The hearing is called "The Right of the People Peaceably to Assemble: Protecting Speech by Stopping Anarchist Violence.”

Speakers will include Acting Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, journalist Andy Ngo and law professor Jonathan Turley. It comes after two months of protests and violent riots hit downtown Portland, where rioters have attacked the Hatfield Courthouse and clashed with federal law enforcement protecting it.

As part of his opening statement, Cruz will play a video to the committee that shows peaceful protests led by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., and contrasts them with the violence committed by Antifa and similar groups.

"These violent riots are not spontaneous, nor are they mere coincidences. Instead, the evidence suggests they are organized terror attacks designed to instill fear and tear down the fundamental institutions of government. This hearing is designed to understand who is driving the violence, who is driving the assaults, who is driving the murders, and what their objective is,” Cruz said.

Law enforcement in Portland were blinded by lasers, assaulted and doxed online. But local and state officials backed the protesters and accused the Trump administration of having escalated the situation with their presence, as well as "kidnapping" protesters. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and DHS came to an agreement late last month on a phased withdrawal for law enforcement, conditional on the courthouse being protected.

But Portland is one of a number of cities that have been hit by unrest amid broader protests, some of them peaceful, since the death of George Floyd in May. Cruz asserts that the violence is not a natural offshoot of peaceful protests against police brutality – and he wants to get to the bottom of who is responsible.

"The hearing will assess who is driving the violence, who is driving the assaults, who is driving the fires, who is driving the explosions, who is driving the murders, why are they doing so, how are they doing so and what do they hope to achieve through violent acts of terror?" he told Fox News.

No immunity: State judge who helped illegal alien escape to face rare trial

A Massachusetts judge is one step closer to facing a federal trial on charges that she assisted an illegal immigrant in avoiding federal apprehension. A federal judge last week declined to dismiss charges against Massachusetts District Court Judge Shelley M. Richmond Joseph and now-retired Massachusetts trial court officer Wesley MacGregor. Joseph, MacGregor, and a defense attorney are accused of helping a Dominican man evade being taken into custody at the Newton District Court by ICE agents after a 2018 hearing on criminal charges including drug possession. Prosecutors say the man had previously been removed from the U.S. twice and was barred from reentering the country until 2027.

Approximately one month after his escape, the fugitive was apprehended by immigration authorities, according to the Associated Press. "Joseph’s lawyers have blasted prosecutors for what the defense has called an 'extraordinary sweetheart deal granting complete immunity' to the immigrant’s defense attorney, who they say was the 'architect and ringleader' of the man’s escape plan," the AP reported. "Her lawyers say Joseph had no idea about the plan, but they argue that even if the allegations were true, judicial immunity shields judges from liability for acts 'taken in their judicial role.'" The federal judge has refused to grant the request to dismiss conspiracy and obstruction charges. Joseph and MacGregor have both pled not guilty.

"After careful consideration, the motions to dismiss are DENIED because the Indictment alleges the elements of the offenses and sufficient supporting factual detail," U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin wrote in his July 27 ruling. One of the arguments made regarding Joseph was that she is protected by judicial immunity, though the judge noted when declining to dismiss the charges that there is debate over the issue. "The parties hotly contest whether judicial immunity insulates against criminal liability or is restricted to civil lawsuit," Sorokin wrote. "Where the Indictment charges that Joseph acted 'corruptly,' … it is not within this Court’s province on a motion to dismiss to determine whether judicial immunity, even if its reach encompasses criminal liability, provides a viable shelter for Joseph in the circumstances alleged here."

FTC investigating Twitter for alleged misuse of user data

Twitter is being investigated by the Federal Trade Commission for alleged privacy violations, another setback for a company that has struggled in recent years to protect private user data and account security.

The FTC is probing the company for using phone numbers uploaded for security purposes to target people with advertising — a potential violation of a 2011 consent decree in which Twitter agreed to better protect personal data, the company said Monday in a regulatory filing. The probe may lead to a "probable loss" of $150 million to $250 million, the San Francisco-based company said.

Washington, D.C. police violated the First Amendment when officers arrested two anti-abortion activists who were writing "Black Preborn Lives Matter" outside of a Planned Parenthood location, one of the activists told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Monday.

"This is a violation of our First Amendment right," said Warner DePriest, an employee of Students for Life of America (SFLA). "This is viewpoint discrimination."

Video footage shows police warning DePriest and SFLA student leader Erica Caporaletti that they would be arrested if they continued using sidewalk chalk outside of the Planned Parenthood Carol Whitehill Moses Center in northeast D.C.

SFLA claims D.C. police granted them a permit to paint on the street, as well as verbal notice that they wouldn't be prevented from painting on the street. The organization added that authorities specifically requested they use temporary paint.

DePriest maintains, however, that when he arrived at the center at 5 a.m. Saturday, police said he couldn't paint "Black Preborn Lives Matter" on the street.

Several U.S. cities, including Washington D.C., have added officially commissioned graffiti and murals to their streetscape in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, with Mayor Muriel Bowser going so far as to rechristen a two-block section of 16th Street NW "Black Lives Matter Plaza."

"The city appears to be covered in political graffiti, racial slurs, obscenities, spray paint indelible on our public buildings," Fox News host Tucker Carlson said. "This was chalk, this was colored dust. Am I missing something?"

"You're not missing anything and that's what's so ironic about this situation," SFLA President Kristan Hawkins replied.

'BABY LIVES MATTER' MURAL PAINTED IN FRONT OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD CLINIC

"I couldn't be more proud of Warner and Erica and the student leaders but more simultaneously afraid [for] our rights because this was clear what was happening was viewpoint discrimination," Hawkins said. "We have a mayor here in Washington, D.C., that painted the streets 'Black Lives Matter,' that allowed activists associated with the Black Lives Matter organization to then go without the permit and [in] permanent paint, paint 'Defund the Police,'" Hawkins added.

SFLA is currently pursuing legal action. As Hawkins noted, activists painted "Defund the Police" in front of the "Black Lives Matter" slogan, so that it reportedly read: "Black Lives Matter = Defund the Police."...

When an FBI lawyer, Page texted disdain for black activist group's protest at White House. Now she works for a network that embraces the group.

Cable news network MSNBC's hosts have relentlessly embraced Black Lives Matter, routinely ribbing Republicans critical of the group's Marxist roots while showcasing celebrities who support the racial justice group. "Black Lives Matter is a human rights statement," WNBA star Sidney Colson declared on the network in a recent interview with host Ali Velshi that encapsulated the network's embrace of the group. So it may come as somewhat a surprise that one of MSNBC's newest and most celebrated hires, the ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page who now serves as a legal analyst, offered a not-so-fond message about the group's protests. At least when she texting with her then-lover, the now-fired FBI agent Peter Strzok, during the Russia collusion probe four years ago.

Producer becomes third major news industry figure to depart in a month over toxic media culture, following Bari Weiss and Andrew Sullivan.

For the third time in a month, a major news figure has abruptly departed an organization, citing the media's flailing culture. This time it was MSNBC producer Ariana Pekary, who decried the news industry for becoming a "cancer" that "stokes national division." Pekary on Monday tweeted out news of her departure from MSNBC, where she has produced host Lawrence O'Donnell's show, and directed followers to a personal Web site where she described her reasoning.

"July 24th was my last day at MSNBC. I don’t know what I’m going to do next exactly but I simply couldn’t stay there anymore," Pekary wrote. "My colleagues are very smart people with good intentions. The problem is the job itself. It forces skilled journalists to make bad decisions on a daily basis. You may not watch MSNBC but just know that this problem still affects you, too. All the commercial networks function the same – and no doubt that content seeps into your social media feed, one way or the other," she added. Pekary decried a culture in network news obsessed with ratings at the expense of quality, balanced news. "The longer I was at MSNBC, the more I saw such choices — it’s practically baked in to the editorial process – and those decisions affect news content every day," she wrote. "Likewise, it’s taboo to discuss how the ratings scheme distorts content, or it’s simply taken for granted, because everyone in the commercial broadcast news industry is doing the exact same thing."

Pekary said that "behind closed doors, industry leaders will admit the damage that’s being done" and quoted a colleague who declared "We are a cancer and there is no cure.” "As it is, this cancer stokes national division, even in the middle of a civil rights crisis. The model blocks diversity of thought and content because the networks have incentive to amplify fringe voices and events, at the expense of others… all because it pumps up the ratings," she added.

Pekary's sentiments mirror those of two other media figures who quit recently in protest. Bari Weiss resigned last month as a New York Times opinion editor, saying the paper's liberal bias and obsession with social media clicks led to imbalance and newsroom bullying. "Intellectual curiosity” is “now a liability at The Times,” Weiss wrote. “Twitter is not on the masthead of The New York Times. But Twitter has become its ultimate editor.” Andrew Sullivan, the iconoclastic British-born magazine writer, expressed similar frustration as he departed New York magazine in mid-July. "If the mainstream media will not host a diversity of opinion, or puts the 'moral clarity' of some self-appointed saints before the goal of objectivity in reporting, if it treats writers as mere avatars for their race and gender or gender identity, rather than as unique individuals whose identity is largely irrelevant, then the non-mainstream needs to pick up the slack," Sullivan wrote.

German regulator examines auditor EY over Wirecard accounts

BERLIN (Reuters) - The German body in charge of regulating auditors is examining the work of EY, the auditor that approved the books of collapsed payment services firm Wirecard, the German Economy Ministry said on Monday.

The ministry said Auditors' Regulator (Apas) had upgraded a preliminary investigation that had been running since October 2019, when the Financial Times first reported allegations of fraud at Wirecard, into a full formal regulatory inquiry.

The ministry gave no further details.

Anons the last couple of breads, posts were dropped about President Trump sending emails regarding wearing the masks. I don't have a copy of it, but I think I might have hit on something. Just digging around various places, one of the sites had a pop up of a Trump 2020 face mask. Have been suspicious of this whole email right out of the gate, now I am begining to wonder if someone dropped a whole lot of money on these masks, since there are many who don't wear the masks, (most seem to be Trump supporters) I wonder if this email was/is indeed phony in order to unload inventory and retain some cash even if in the long run it doesn't prove profitable. Not sure if there are other sites doing this but this is one that was found.

FDA Expands List Of Dangerous Hand Sanitizers To Over 100

The US Food and Drug Administration's list of potentially harmful hand sanitizers has now been expanded to a whopping 100+.

Warnings first surfaced in June, at which point less than a dozen were named. This after an explosion of new, cheap sanitizers hit the market following an initial run on alcohol-based sanitizing cleaning products in March, when coronavirus lockdowns took effect.

Initially the FDA's warnings were focused on products that are potentially toxic when absorbed through the skin, given some contained methanol. This makes the sanitizers possibly deadly if swallowed as well.

"We remain extremely concerned about the potential serious risks of alcohol-based hand sanitizers containing methanol. Producing, importing and distributing toxic hand sanitizers poses a serious threat to the public and will not be tolerated. The FDA will take additional action as necessary and will continue to provide the latest information on this issue for the health and safety of consumers," the agency said previously.

But the hugely increased list topping 100 is due to most of the new additions containing insufficient levels of alcohol, making them ineffective against the virus and germs.

In its updated warning issued days ago it said: "FDA test results show certain hand sanitizers have concerningly low levels of ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, which are active ingredients in hand sanitizer products."

Argentina Agrees to $65 Billion Restructuring Deal With Bondholders

Argentina's government confirmed on Tuesday that it reached an agreement with its major foreign private creditors to restructure $65 billion in debt, a step that the economy ministry said will "grant the country significant debt relief" and resolve its third sovereign default in two decades. The agreement, with bondholders led by BlackRock Inc. and a number of other major investment firms, enables the government to avoid a prolonged, public clash like the one that marked Argentina's 2001 default. The pact will also lend a much-needed boost to Latin America's third-largest economy, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and is forecast to endure a significant contraction this year.

The settlement is the latest restructuring led by private lenders in the U.S. and other large economies on lending to borrowers in the developing world, whose capacity to repay large debts has been significantly eroded by the economic fallout of the new coronavirus. News that the government was nearing a deal was reported Monday by The Wall Street Journal. Under the agreement, Argentina will change the payment dates for some new bonds, which won't lead to an increase in the overall amount of interest payable by Argentina but will improve the value of the proposal for creditors, the ministry said.

Many creditors that bet on an Argentine economic resurgence in recent years lost money when the government took steps toward restructuring and bonds plummeted in value. But some investors bought in at depressed prices and stand to make profits on the restructuring, people familiar with the matter said. Major Argentine bondholders include Fidelity Management & Research Co., Monarch Alternative Capital LP, VR Capital Group, Greylock Capital Management and Pharo Management LLC.

"It prevents a really disastrous impasse that could have locked Argentina out of credit markets potentially for years," said Benjamin Gedan, an Argentina expert at the Wilson Center, a Washington policy group. "This scenario of a prolonged dispute that would have left Argentina once again isolated financially would have been a worst-case scenario for everyone involved." The creditors accepted a deal ahead of a Tuesday deadline set by the government. Economy Minister Martín Guzmán had said the government wouldn't improve its offer and would start talks with the International Monetary Fund on refinancing a bailout loan if there wasn't a deal with bondholders.

Argentina owes $44 billion to the IMF, which has said the country's debts are unsustainable and projected a nearly 10% economic contraction this year. Economic contraction, spiraling inflation, a hard-currency squeeze combined with the coronavirus pandemic made Argentina the largest of several sovereigns to seek concessions from creditors this year, joining Ecuador and Lebanon as lockdowns and travel restrictions roiled the global economy. Slashing the country's debts has been a priority for President Alberto Fernández, a member of the nationalist Peronist movement who took office in December. The country has been mired in a recession since a 2018 currency crisis while facing double-digit inflation.

Argentina has spent the bulk of the last two decades quarreling with investors after it stopped payment in 2001 on more than $80 billion in debt, the largest default in history by a sovereign at the time. Most bondholders settled for roughly 30 cents on the dollar while a minority battled for full repayment, eventually winning U.S. court rulings that led to another default in 2014 before a settlement in 2016 that delivered enormous gains to the few determined holdouts. Debt markets soon welcomed the country back, gobbling up 100-year bonds, the first such issuance of so-called century bonds by a junk-rated government. Last year's election of Mr. Fernández fueled concerns about a prolonged dispute with creditors after he announced plans to restructure tens of billions of dollars in debt he inherited from his predecessor, Mauricio Macri.

Mr. Fernández's powerful vice president, Cristina Kirchner, who governed from 2007 to 2015, often blamed Argentina's economic troubles on the IMF and foreign creditors, which her government referred to as "vulture funds." But Mr. Fernández, a more moderate Peronist, was more willing to sit down with creditors, analysts say.

Meanwhile, Apple continues its quest to become the first company to reach the vaunted $2 trillion market value. The tech giant, which finished the prior session with a market cap of $1.86 trillion, needs shares to close at or above $467.77 to reach the mark.

Looking at commodities, West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 75 cents at $40.26 per barrel while gold was up $7.40 at $1,993.70 an ounce. ‘Erotic mind control community has a racism problem’: BLM activists go after hypnotists in latest bizarre witch hunt

As street battles between murky federal agents, Antifa and various mom’n’pop protest groups over systemic racism continue in Portland, it appears a similar, but more insidious war is underway… in the erotic mind control community.

A seemingly never-ending thread, posted to Twitter by a self-professed 30-something white woman, who is part of the ultra-niche sexual community that some were convinced was made-up, details the sordid sins among hyperactive, horny hypnotists.

"So, I want to address something that will probably surprise no one: The erotic mind control community has a problem with racism,” we are mournfully told by ‘I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-Karen’ Carin McLeoud, as she begins her far-reaching filibuster.

So long was the list of racist abuses among the erudite eroticists, that even a video posted by journalist Ian Miles Cheong showing him just scrolling through it was too lengthy for some people’s attention spans, showing that certain white allies in the BLM movement, such as Carin, have far too much time, and not enough actual evidence of racism, on their hands.

Among the list of complaints made by the activist was the claim that black and indigenous people were portrayed as “exotic treasures” or “offensive, hurtful racist stereotypes” and that Asians were “hypersexual”.

“This is not something any of us should be proud of, but, thankfully for me, I had a black member of the community to wake my sorry ass up to the seriousness of this,” she added.

The Twitter treatise inspired a wave of reactions, with some suggesting that the titillating telepaths use their powers for good and not evil. "Maybe they could do the mind control to stop the racism?"one person quipped. Others suggested that perhaps Carin and her cohort of conscientious Karens had themselves been brainwashed.

Donald Trump is withdrawing US troops from Germany to ‘punish’ Berlin for buying Russian gas and for not contributing enough to NATO, but a fresh survey shows that people in that country are actually glad that’s he doing so.

Around 47 percent of participants in research conducted by pollster YouGov on behalf of DPA news agency, said they were in favor of the Pentagon’s decision to pull out almost 12,000 American soldiers from Germany.

Moreover, one in four surveyed Germans insisted that the US military presence in the country should be reduced to zero.

Only 28 percent thought that the 36,000-strong contingent must remain as it is, while four percent said that they wanted more American soldiers. The others declined to answer.

The views of the German public on the issue are in sharp contrast with those of the country’s politicians. Five out of six parliamentary groups in the Bundestag have been opposing the withdrawal, with only the Left Party saying that the Americans must leave completely.

“Instead of strengthening NATO, it’s going to weaken the alliance,” Norbert Rottgen, who stands to succeed Chancellor Angela Merkel at the helm of the Christian Democrats Union, said of the US move. The leader of the Christian Social Union, Markus Soder, also warned that the pullout out “puts a burden on the German-American relationship.”

Last week, US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper announced that the Pentagon would withdraw almost 12,000 troops from Germany, which was a significant increase from the initially planned number of 9,500.

Trump, whose relations with Germany and Chancellor Angela Merkel have been rocky from the start of his presidency, recently pointed out that the US can’t remain committed to protecting Germany from Russia when it “pays Russia billions of dollars a year for energy” and “is very delinquent in their 2% fee to NATO.”

Lawmakers Demand Universities Produce All Foreign Donation Records

Republican lawmakers have demanded that the nation's top universities produce all records of donations received from foreign governments, after concerns have mounted over a growing national security threat tied to multi-million dollar gifts, according to the New York Post.

In a Monday letter to the presidents of six leading colleges – including Yale, Harvard and NYU, Reps. Jim Jordan (D-OH), Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and James Comer (R-KY) requested unredacted records of all gifts, contracts and agreements with foreign governments since January 2015.

The three lawmakers are the ranking members of the House Judiciary, Oversight and Reform, and House Education and Labor committees, respectively.

Lawmakers said they were troubled by the fact that governments like Qatar classified their donations to US colleges as “trade secrets” — banning the recipient from disclosing the nature or sum of the gift, as required by US law.

They said they were also briefed in May by Education Department officials who held “concerns about this level of [colleges’] dependency on foreign funding from adversarial states and the inherent national security risks,” the letters said.

According to the report, Harvard has declared 31 gifts or contracts totaling $101 million from China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar since 2015.

NYU has received $40 million from the same countries over the same period, while the University of Pennsylvania pulled in $62 million from the group. The Universities of Chicago, Delaware and Yale each pocketed less than $30 million.

As the Post notes, the head of Harvard's chemistry department was charged with lying to the DoD in January about his receipt of $1.5 million in connection with his work at the Wuhan University of Technology in China. He faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.

President Donald Trump’s decision on August 3 to block H-1B outsourcing contractors at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is just part of an ambitious agenda for the rest of the year, insiders tell Breitbart News.

“This is only the tip of the iceberg,” said Jay Palmer, a former tech professional and whistleblower in the H-1B outsourcing business.

The House Intelligence Committee is launching an investigation into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and their response to protests nationwide.

The committee’s chairman, Adam Schiff, raised his concerns in a letter to Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf and Acting Undersecretary of Intelligence and Analysis Horace Jen. His concern surrounds two pieces of information originally reported by the Washington Post.

According to the report, former Undersecretary of of Intelligence and Analysis Brian Murphy emailed other members of his department to stop referring to certain individuals as violent opportunists and begin referring to them as “violent Antifa anarchists inspired.”

A legal analyst at MSNBC leaked the email over Twitter where Brian Murphy allegedly informs his officials of these changes.

Likewise, Schiff cited a Washington Post article that said the DHS infiltrated chat rooms between demonstrators, which he believes to be unconstitutional.

The Fourth Amendment requires federal officials to obtain probable cause before an arrest, which is something Customs and Border Protection commissioner Mark Morgan has claimed officers have done in each one of their arrests in Portland.

“You will find in each and every instance when we approach somebody, who we believe, who we have probable cause, who has committed a federal crime – we do identify ourselves as either police or a federal agent,” he stated.

ew York City’s embattled Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot — who drew ire for telling an NYPD boss she didn’t “give two rats’ asses” about his cops during the height of the coronavirus pandemic — resigned from her post Tuesday.

Barbot submitted her resignation letter to City Hall Tuesday morning, she said in an email to her Department of Health colleagues and obtained by The Post.

She does not say why she’s stepping down.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve at the helm of an agency with its long and distinguished history in promoting and protecting New Yorkers’ health through ordinary times and during some of the most challenging moments in our city’s history,” Barbot wrote.

In a press release, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Dr. Dave Chokshi, a top official at NYC Health + Hospitals, as her replacement.

Barbot has served as health commissioner since December 2018.

She came under fire mid-coronavirus pandemic for telling NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan “I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops” while blowing off an NYPD request for 500,000 face masks.
