HUGE BLAZE breaks out at food market in Ajman, UAE

Firefighters and civil defense crews are battling a major fire at a fruit and veg market in the United Arab Emirates’ city of Ajman on Wednesday. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the blaze is still unknown.

Only a day after a massive explosion devastated Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, killing more than 100 people, the United Arab Emirates' Ajman is now dealing with this massive fire. Eyewitnesses posted footage of the alarming scale of the blaze on social media.

The fire broke out around 6pm local time, according to Gulf News. First responders were alerted to the blaze by Rajab Elsawi, who owns a meat store across from the market.

"There are dozens of shops in that souq,” the retailer said.

The cause of the fire is still not known, but the market has reportedly been closed for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The National reported several workers in nearby shops tried to put out the flames with fire extinguishers, but were unable to stop the spread.

A nearby hospital was evacuated due to its proximity to the fire, according to local media.

Shocking footage has emerged showing a mother being pinned to the ground by three police officers for allegedly breaking COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

The dramatic incident, which left the mum with horrific bruises under her arms, took place in Hoppers Crossing in Melbourne's south-west on Saturday.

The confronting footage, filmed by her daughter, shows the blonde woman screaming as the officers hold her face-down on the footpath and handcuff her arms behind her back.

Her terrified daughter is heard begging the officers to get off her mum, shouting 'she's in pain, she said she's in pain'.

In a Facebook post, written by a friend, it was alleged the police officers deliberately pinched her mother during the arrest, leaving her battered and bruised.

Poll asks whether you’d be more willing to take anti-Covid vaccine if recommended by...Oprah, LeBron, or Tom Brady

A new poll to measure people’s trust in a potential Covid-19 vaccine asked respondents whether they would be more likely to take it if select celebrities and sports stars gave it their stamp of approval.

“If each of the following people or groups encouraged Americans to receive the coronavirus vaccine, would you be more or less likely to get vaccinated or would it not have an impact on your decision?” the Politico/Morning Consult poll – which was conducted among a national sample of 1,991 people – asked.

Some names listed seemed suitable as they are either medical professionals, like Dr Anthony Fauci, or public leaders, like President Donald Trump, but also included were media mogul Oprah Winfrey, NBA star LeBron James, and NFL quarterback Tom Brady.

The responses to those names should come as little surprise, as people will likely need more than a celebrity endorsement to trust in a vaccine to a world-changing virus. Some, however, were willing to admit that they trust the aforementioned stars enough that they could be swayed.

Winfrey fared the best of the bunch, with 10 percent saying a recommendation from her would make them more likely to get the vaccine. Another 16 percent actually said it would make them less likely, though, and the remaining 61 percent said it would not affect them either way.

For James and Brady, eight and seven percent respectively said their recommendation would make them more likely – while 15 and 13 percent said it would make them less inclined.

Those results actually get worse when broken down by political affiliation. Those who support Trump are much less likely to take a vaccine promoted by celebrities, with almost a third saying they would skip the vaccine if it was recommended by Oprah, 26 percent saying the same about James, and 19 percent about Brady.

President Donald Trump tweeted an incredibly effective and powerful video on Obamagate Wednesday evening that is one of the best I’ve seen this campaign season.

The video begins with Barack Obama declaring, “Trump will not be president,” before dissolving into a montage of events leading up the Obamagate scandal, including the text message exchange between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, with Strzok promising Page that Trump won’t become president. “We’ll stop it.”

Then we see Hillary Clinton announcing “there will be no question about the outcome of this election.”

Rather than give away the entire video, I recommend you just watch it.

What makes this video so powerful, in my opinion, is the footage of Hillary Clinton and then Barack Obama talking about the “peaceful transfer” of power, including video of Barack Obama telling President-elect Trump that he wants to do everything he can to help him succeed, even though he was literally spying on his campaign and presidential transition at the time. Eventually, we see Joe Biden declaring that he knows “nothing” about the efforts to unmask Michael Flynn, before we see a screenshot of the unclassified documents showing Biden made an unmasking request.

11 MS-13 Gang Members, Associates Arrested For Sexual Exploitation In Virginia & Maryland Where Young Girl Was Beaten & ‘Sold’

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Eleven members or close associates of the MS-13 gang were arrested this week relating to the sexual exploitation and physical abuse of a minor in northern Virginia and Maryland.

“Sex traffickers often prey upon the most vulnerable victims in our society, and when combined with the horrific abuses of a gang like MS-13, the effects can be devastating,” said G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. “I have personally handled the prosecution of MS-13 members in northern Virginia for over a decade, including for gang-controlled sex trafficking, and I have led meaningful outreach efforts with the Hispanic community in order to raise public awareness of these serious threats. As I’ve noted before, no one suffers more at the hands of MS-13 than other individuals of Central American birth or ancestry, and cases like this are proof of the need for community leaders to step up, acknowledge this reality, and work together to be part of the solution. I want to thank our law enforcement partners for conducting this complex investigation and arrest operation in a diligent and professional manner, and for their sustained commitment to eradicating MS-13 from our communities. These defendants are charged with heinous offenses, but are appropriately presumed innocent unless or until proven otherwise.”

“Combatting MS-13 is not anti-immigrant—it is distinctly pro-immigrant as the group that suffers the most and is consistently preyed upon by MS-13 are those individuals of Central American birth or ancestry whom the gang specifically targets.”

According to court documents, in Aug. 2018, a 13-year-old identified as MINOR 2 ran away from a youth home in northern Virginia. Shortly after running away, MINOR 2 was introduced to members of MS-13. Members of the gang beat MINOR 2 26 times with a baseball bat as part of a gang initiation. Gang members then sex trafficked MINOR 2 in Virginia and Maryland using the currency of cash and drugs. While in Virginia, men lined up to have sex with her in a wooded area behind one target’s apartment complex. The men gave her drugs in exchange for sex. She also was harbored in various apartments in northern Virginia where men paid her and her handlers cash for sex.

“MS-13 is known for their violence and intimidation, but the horrific crimes alleged in this case show how their cruelty and depravity know no bounds,” said Robert E. Bornstein, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office Criminal Division. “The FBI and our community will not stand by while children are beaten, plied with drugs, and trafficked for sex. We will continue to work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to disrupt violent gang activity and bring justice on behalf of the innocent victims on whom they prey.”

According to court documents, MINOR 2 was later beaten again with a bat 26 times. After the second bat beating, MINOR 2 was transported to Maryland, where she was sold to numerous gang members and other customers in exchange for cash. Law enforcement recovered photographs and videos of MINOR 2 while being sexually exploited, along with numerous social media messages regarding the trafficking and sexual exploitation of MINOR 2.

“Today’s arrests are a prime example of the commitment and dedication of local police officers and federal agents to safeguard northern Virginia against crime and violence,” said Edwin C. Roessler Jr., Chief of Fairfax County Police. “The Fairfax County police department will continue to use every resource and leverage the full weight of our agency and our federal partners to prevent violence by interdicting organized crime and holding alleged criminal street gangs accountable.”

Researchers Find Low-Cost Way to Turn Carbon Dioxide Into Liquid Fuel

Catalysts speed up chemical reactions and form the backbone of many industrial processes. For example, they are essential in transforming heavy oil into gasoline or jet fuel. Today, catalysts are involved in over 80 percent of all manufactured products.

A research team, led by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory in collaboration with Northern Illinois University, has discovered a new electrocatalyst that converts carbon dioxide (CO2) and water into ethanol with very high energy efficiency, high selectivity for the desired final product and low cost. Ethanol is a particularly desirable commodity because it is an ingredient in nearly all U.S. gasoline and is widely used as an intermediate product in the chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

“The process resulting from our catalyst would contribute to the circular carbon economy, which entails the reuse of carbon dioxide.” — Di-Jia Liu, senior chemist in Argonne’s Chemical Sciences and Engineering division and a UChicago CASE scientist.

The electrocatalytic selectivity, or “Faradaic efficiency,” of the process is over 90 percent, much higher than any other reported process. What is more, the catalyst operates stably over extended operation at low voltage.

“With this research, we’ve discovered a new catalytic mechanism for converting carbon dioxide and water into ethanol,” said Tao Xu, a professor in physical chemistry and nanotechnology from Northern Illinois University. “The mechanism should also provide a foundation for development of highly efficient electrocatalysts for carbon dioxide conversion to a vast array of value-added chemicals.”

High School Campus Monitor Accused Of Asking Kids For Sexually Explicit Videos

Pompano Beach, FLORIDA — A Broward County Public Schools campus monitor is facing several criminal charges, including soliciting minors and transmitting harmful material to minors, and detectives are concerned there may be more victims in the community.

In February, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives began a joint investigation with the Broward County Public Schools Special Investigative Unit into Alton Johnson for the crimes. The investigation determined that Johnson, who worked at Blanche Ely High School, solicited two juveniles to send him sexually explicit videos. In one case, Johnson offered the juvenile money in exchange for the video. Johnson is also accused of sending pornographic images to one of the juveniles. PALM BEACH, Fla. — Three teenagers were arrested after police said they illegally scaled a wall at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club while carrying an AK-47 in a backpack, authorities said Wednesday. According to Palm Beach Police Department spokesperson Michael Ogrodnick, the boys were arrested shortly after entering the property. They had dumped a backpack, which contained the semiautomatic weapon that had a loaded 14-round magazine. “They had no idea where they were,” Ogrodnick told the Miami Herald. The president and his family were not at the club, which is closed for the summer, Ogrodnick said.

According to a police report, on Friday night the teens, who have not been identified, were observed parked in a silver Hyundai around midnight Friday, WPTV reported. When police approached the vehicle, it sped away. It was observed moments later by another officer, who was conducting an unrelated traffic stop, WPEC reported. After a short pursuit, the teens left the Hyundai and ran toward Mar-a-Lago, where they illegally entered the property. The teens hid on the resort’s grounds. Officers surrounded the area and a helicopter and police dog were used to find them, the Herald reported. The teens were charged with trespassing with a firearm, burglary with a firearm and resisting arrest without violence, the newspaper reported. The boys are being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center in West Palm Beach, WPTV reported. Prosecutors are deciding whether to charge the teens as adults, according to the Herald.

MDA to Use Awesome Destroyer USS John Finn for Defense-of-Hawaii Missile Intercept Test

The Mighty Missile Defense Agency is nearing its planned defense-of-Hawaii test event with an Arleigh Burke destroyer and a Standard Missile-3 Block IIA, to prove the ship can serve as a back-up to ground-based homeland defense systems if needed.

The FTM-44 flight test, which was planned for May but postponed due to COVID-19-related restrictions, would prove that the SM-3 IIA could go beyond its originally designed scope and be used to stop an intercontinental ballistic missile, MDA Director Vice Adm. Jon Hill said in a briefing online this week. If successful, the destroyer and SM-3 IIA pairing would add another layer to the layered homeland defense model the MDA is developing.

An ICBM target is on station on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, and Pearl Harbor-based USS John Finn (DDG-113) is ready to conduct the test, Hill said.

He did not specify when the test would take place but said that it’s congressionally mandated to happen by the end of the year and that MDA and the Navy are making final adjustments based on ongoing COVID restrictions.

“We’ll be launching the ICBM, the ship will maneuver and launch an SM-3 Block IIA outside its design space to take on an intercontinental ballistic missile track. It’s going to be a pretty great event and we’re looking forward to that,” he said, calling it “the first empirical data capture” event to prove that the SM-3 IIA can be successful against this type of threat.

If successful, he said the Navy would have to work out how its fantastic warfighters would employ this homeland defense capability and which agencies they’d have to coordinate with, but he said the first step is proving it is technologically feasible.

Even as MDA pushes the boundaries of what’s possible for Navy ships and weapons to contribute to ballistic missile defense for the homeland, Hill said he also has big hopes for the Navy’s ability to contribute to defense against hypersonic weapons as well.

The Philippine economy shrank 16.5% in the second quarter, the country's statistics agency reported on Thursday, pulling the plug on what was one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing economies before the pandemic and throwing the nation into a technical recession. The April-June figure covers economic activity during the peak of the initial lockdown, which was imposed in mid-March before being eased in June. Donald Trump’s Campaign Seeks Earlier Date For First Debate, Gives Suggestions For Potential Moderators

Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is requesting that the first presidential debate between the president and Joe Biden be held in early September, while it has provided organizers with a list of recommended moderators. The list, below, is heavy in Fox News personalities, yet does not include Chris Wallace. He moderated a debate in the 2016 cycle, but recently interviewed Trump for Fox News Sunday in a widely praised hour-long exchange in which he, at multiple points, fact-checked the president’s assertions.

Trump’s campaign argues that the first debate, now scheduled for Sept. 29, will take place after early voting has begun in 16 states. Two other presidential debates are scheduled for Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. The Trump campaign also continued its call for debate planners to a fourth debate to the schedule in early September, but said that if that does not happen, the Oct. 22 event should be moved to that date. A vice presidential debate also is scheduled for Oct. 7. “Simply put, the Commission’s current approach is an outdated dinosaur and not reflective of voting realities in 2020,” Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer, wrote to the Commission on Presidential Debates. “For a nation already deprived of a traditional campaign schedule because of the COVID-19 global pandemic, it makes no sense to also deprive so many Americans of the opportunity to see and hear the two competing visions for our country’s future before millions of votes have been cast,” Giuliani wrote. Axios first reported the news on the letter.

Biden’s campaign has already agreed to the debate as scheduled. Since 1988, the debates are organized by the bipartisan Commission On Presidential Debates. They also are in charge of selecting moderators. In the last cycle, Trump also complained that the debate schedule and that the process was biased against him. The commission did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The list of figures suggested by the Trump campaign also excludes others who moderated in 2016: NBC News’ Lester Holt, ABC News’ Martha Raddatz and CNN’s Anderson Cooper. The campaign did recommend two other broadcast news anchors, David Muir of ABC News and Norah O’Donnell of CBS News, along with Hoda Kotb, the co-host of Today.

State Department Acting IG Abruptly Resigns Months After Previous Deep State IG Steve Linick Was Fired

The State Department’s Acting Inspector General Stephen Akard abruptly resigned on Wednesday just months after the previous IG was fired.

In May President Trump fired State Department IG Steve Linick, a Deep State hack and Obama holdover who worked with Democrats during the sham impeachment.

Acting IG Stephen Akard took over Linick’s investigation into accusations about arms deals against Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Akard resigned on Wednesday.

The internal watchdog looking into accusations about arms deals against US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo abruptly quit Wednesday, just months after his predecessor was fired.

Stephen Akard –the State Department’s acting inspector general — is a longtime aide to Vice President Mike Pence and his installation in May had widely been seen as a way to keep a friendly figure in the role.

“He left to go back home. This happens. I don’t have anything more to add to that,” Pompeo told reporters, declining further comment.

A State Department spokesperson said Akard was “returning to the private sector after years of public service,” adding: “We appreciate his dedication to the department and to our country.”

Facebook claims Trump was spreading misinformation by saying in the interview that children are “almost immune” to the virus.

Republicans dodge Kansas nightmare as Marshall defeats Kobach

Reps. Steve Watkins and Lacy Clay lost their primaries as well.

Rep. Roger Marshall won the GOP primary for an open Senate seat in Kansas on Tuesday, turning aside the controversial Kris Kobach — to the relief of Republicans concerned that Kobach could put not just the state but the party's Senate majority at risk this fall. With nearly all the votes tallied, Marshall had 40 percent of the vote, to only 26 percent for Kobach. The result was a more decisive victory for Marshall than expected by many Republicans, who had predicted with deep concern that the race was a tossup going into Tuesday. GOP leaders had been outspoken in their opposition to Kobach since he entered the race last summer, but failed in their efforts to steer the race away from him, leaving it up in the air on primary night. Party officials couldn’t convince Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to run, and some eventually consolidated behind Rep. Roger Marshall in the closing weeks of the race. But President Donald Trump did not endorse or oppose anyone, frustrating some Republicans who thought he could have ended the concern by weighing in.

Republicans got another piece of good news in Kansas on Tuesday, when Rep. Steve Watkins was ousted in his primary by state Treasurer Jake LaTurner, who has seized on Watkins’ litany of ethical and legal transgressions, including felony charges of voter fraud in the closing weeks of the primary. Some Republicans feared Watkins' renomination could have jeopardized the party's hold on an otherwise GOP-leaning House seat. Both the House and Senate primaries have been expensive, with a flurry of late spending and a crowded field of candidates leaving the threshold for victory lower and the outcome less certain. It’s also possible that the massive increase in absentee ballots could delay results for several days as all votes are counted; ballots postmarked on Tuesday can still be counted as long as they are received by the end of the week.

In the Senate race, nearly $5 million in spending from a super PAC with Democratic ties upended the contest’s final month. The group's ads bashed Marshall, hurting his image while lifting Kobach up as a pro-Trump conservative. The group, which will not reveal the source of its funding until later this month, was by far the biggest spender in the Republican primary, outspending all GOP outside groups and campaigns. Republicans repeatedly tied the super PAC to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, though it will not have to reveal the source of its funding until later this month. "Chuck Schumer spent over $5 [million] trying to impact GOP primary voters, which is another chapter in this cycle’s edition of 'Schumer's follies,'" said Scott Reed, the chief political strategist at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which backed Marshall. Marshall's victory leaves Republicans confident in their ability to retain the seat this fall. A Kobach win would have forced Senate Republicans to face a difficult choice between supporting a candidate whom they have publicly bashed as unelectable, or leaving the state to chance with their already tenuous majority in peril.

L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti Blasts ‘House Parties,’ Will Cut Water and Power to ‘Super-Spreaders’

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti blasted house parties on Wednesday, saying that he would instruct city officials to cut off water and power to properties where “flagrant violations” of social distancing rules have taken place in recent days.

Garcetti was reacting to reports of large parties in the hills earlier this week, including one where people reportedly threw money from balconies — and where a gang-related shooting later killed one and wounded four people at the party.

Local ABC affiliate KABC-7 reported that “there was little social distancing and even fewer masks” at the party. The party was reportedly staged to shoot a music video, according to one partygoer. Prior to the shooting, police paid a visit after neighbors complained about the noise, but their warnings were ignored.

Parties are banned in Los Angeles County.

Garcetti warned that house parties and other such events “ripple throughout our entire community because the virus can quickly and easily spread.”

He also said that there had been “good news in the last two weeks,” as the number of new cases of coronavirus had been falling in the city, with L.A. hitting one million coronavirus tests (and 1.8 million in the county as a whole). Garcetti noted that there had recently been a 20% drop in the number of new cases, and that the transmission rate is 0.91.

Similar reductions in hospitalizations have taken place across Southern California.

Garcetti added that L.A. expressed condolences to victims of the recent explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, which is a sister city.

How Central Banks Made The COVID Panic Worse

Historical events are complex phenomena, and monocausal explanations are therefore by definition wrong when explaining history. Many factors go into explaining why people and the world’s governments reacted as they did to the coronavirus. It is, however, my contention that examining the inflationary policies pursued by central banks and governments are fundamental to understanding how the current corona hysteria developed.

Calling it hysteria may sound harsh. When the coronavirus first started to draw attention back in February, and when most Western countries instituted extremely restrictive measures in March, one could make a plausible argument that the world was dealing with an unknown and seemingly catastrophic disease and that therefore extreme measures were justified. To be sure, this does not mean that the measures implemented were in any way effective, nor that the sacrifices imposed were morally justified; but there was at least an argument to be made.

At this point in time, however, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has repeatedly cut the COVID-19 fatality rate, and it is now comparable to a bad year of the seasonal flu (see the useful aggregation of studies and reports by Swiss Propaganda Research). The glaring question therefore is: Why do governments across the West act as if they were still dealing with an unprecedented threat? It is no good to simply reply that what politicians really want is power and that they are just using coronavirus as an excuse for extending government control. While a plausible claim, it does not explain why vast majorities in most countries support whatever policies their rulers have thought good. Given the extreme restrictions placed on social and economic life and the mendacious, ever shifting narrative used to justify them, one would think that there would be widespread opposition after four months. So why is there practically none?

Inflation in the Age of Corona

We can better understand this strange phenomenon if we consider the inflationary policies pursued by central banks across the world. I’ll here cleave to the old definition of the term inflation and the one still favored by Austrian school economists: an increase in the quantity of money. The rise in prices which is commonly referred to as inflation is simply the effect of such an increase. While the complexities of modern central banking can sometimes obscure the realities of the process, there can be no doubt that the last couple of months have seen very high levels of inflation.

Modern central banks are no longer content with the classic role of lender of last resort. As the financial system has evolved, central banks have assumed the role of market maker of last resort—that is, they have either implicitly or explicitly assumed the responsibility of making sure that there is always a buyer for financial assets—and first of all government bonds. Thus the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet has ballooned from just over $4 trillion at the beginning of March to now just below $7 trillion; the Bank of England’s has increased from about £580 billion in March to about £780 billion; and the European Central Bank has increased its holdings from about €4.6 trillion to about €6.3 trillion. The balance sheets of the largest central banks thus expanded by between 35 and 75 percent in about five months.

1 in 4 Vote-by-Mail Ballots Disqualified in New York City Democrat Primary

The New York City Board of Elections disqualified 84,208 vote-by-mail ballots — 26% of the total cast — in the June 23 Democratic presidential primary, according to a report cited Wednesday evening by the New York Post.

The Post reported:

The city BOE received 403,213 mail-in ballots for the June 23 Democratic presidential primary.

But the certified results released Wednesday revealed that only 318,995 mail-in ballots were counted.

That’s means 84,208 ballots were not counted or invalidated — 26 percent of the total.

One out of four mail-in ballots were disqualified for arriving late, lacking a postmark or failing to include a voter’s signature, or other defects.

Votes are still being counted from the June 23 primary, where several close elections were only decided weeks later.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) declared victory — more than six weeks later — over her primary challenger.

New York State encouraged voters to vote by mail rather than in person, citing the risk of coronavirus.

Nearly 2 million voters statewide requested mail-in ballots, and the system was overwhelmed, according to an earlier report by NBC-4 New York that described “a tidal wave of absentee ballots that overwhelmed a system which typically handles only around 5% of the vote,” and fears of “disenfranchisement.”

President Donald Trump reiterated his concerns Wednesday at a press briefing at the White House, where he said that states that did not have existing vote-by-mail systems ran the risk of irregularities that could delay the result of the presidential election from being known.

Jonathan Turley's Right to Ask if Antifa is the 'Greatest Movement Against Free Speech in America.' We've Got Proof.

The boo-birds are out and busily castigating George Washington University Professor Jonathan Turley for floating the idea in The Hill that antifa is “the greatest movement against free speech in America.” He poses it as a question, but after years of watching these violent thugs, I can assure him that there is an answer to the query – an unequivocal yes.

Google, Facebook, and Twitter do a wholesale bang-up business of shutting down conservative thought online – blatant censorship – but nothing says retail silencing like a masked thug shouting in your face so that your literal message cannot be heard, or threatening you with physical violence to stop you from covering a riot.

These are the street thugs of antifa.

Turley makes quick work of the fools, such as Congressman Jerry Nadler, who claim the group is an apparition, and advances his idea that being anti-free speech is in the DNA of the group.

Antifa has found allies while the movement has grown. It primarily targets conservatives and the free speech community, so it has not been a major concern of liberals. Former Democratic National Committee deputy chair Keith Ellison, now the Minnesota attorney general, once said antifa would “strike fear in the heart” of Trump. This was after antifa had been involved in numerous acts of violence and its website was banned in Germany. His own son, Minneapolis City Council member Jeremiah Ellison, declared his allegiance to antifa in the heat of the protests this summer.

That fact is that antifa works to strike fear not in the heart of Trump but in the heart of anyone who will oppose the movement. The antifa handbook states how the group has rejected the idea of free speech and has spent years organizing protests to prevent opposing views from getting heard. That practice has been adopted by other groups as well. Antifa violence can give colleges or politicians cover for barring conservative speakers. Nancy Pelosi has called for the revocation of a permit for a conservative prayer group viewed as a security matter in San Francisco.

As someone who has had her life threatened by these knuckleheads (the police didn’t think the doxxing and written threats represented an existential threat) because of my writings, I’ve seen quite a bit. You may have just heard this odd-sounding antifa name recently, but I’ve been watching the far-Left mobs – ELF, ALF, Earth First, PETA , anti-Semitic mobs, “Portland Peaceful Response” – rule the streets of Portland for years—since at least 2000.

I’ve seen these activists physically attack and pressure the Leftist “justice” machine in Portland to ruin the life and career of journalist Michael Strickland, who pulled a gun to stop antifa thugs from further beatings (no shots were fired).

They’ve beaten up relative newcomer Andy Ngo, who has watched the protest scene since 2016, and have physically tossed out, intimidated, and threatened anyone who dares cover their protests on public property. Because if you report about them, that’s snitching. “You’ve been warned.”

"The president gets a lot of pushback on his immigration stance," said Brooke Rollins, Acting Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council. "But at the end of the day, when you talk about safe and secure borders, really the people you're trying to protect are those women and their children who were crossing, who are trying to get to America, who immediately get put into a trafficking lane and are never able to escape."

Her comments come as she joined Attorney General Robert Barr and White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump on Tuesday at the White House to announce $35 million in housing assistance grants from the Department of Justice for victims of human trafficking.

The grants will go to 73 organizations across the country to provide transitional housing assistance for trafficking victims, including rental, utilities or related expenses, such as security deposits and relocation costs. The grants will also provide funding for support needed to help victims locate permanent housing, secure employment, and receive occupational training and counseling.

The human trafficking crisis has become more urgent, authorities say, during the COVID-19 shutdown, when many victims are forced to shelter-in-place with their traffickers. The coronavirus has created an increased sense of urgency as a reported 25,000 — mostly women and children — are trafficked daily in the United States.

The Polaris Project is a non-profit that works to combat human trafficking and modern-day slavery. According to the group, there was a 40% increase in the number of crisis trafficking situations reported to its National Human Trafficking Hotline in a 30-day period after after shelter-in-place orders took hold nationally compared to a 30-day period before the first order was imposed. Comparing the same time periods, there was a reported doubling of situations in which people needed immediate emergency shelter.

Nearly 40 People Injured in Grenade Attack at Rally in Pakistan

At least 39 people were injured in a grenade attack at a rally in the Pakistani city of Karachi, media reported, citing officials.

According to the Dawn newspaper, the explosion occurred near the truck that was part of the rally near Bait-ul-Mukarram Masjid.

A majority of the wounded received "very minor injuries", while some were discharged, a local official said.

The Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army claimed responsibility for the attack through social media, the news outlet read.

The rally was held by the Jamaat-i-Islami* organization in connection with the first anniversary of India's abolition of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, whose territory is claimed by Pakistan.

Virtual Court Hearing For Teenage Twitter Hacker, Hacked By ‘Zoombombers’ Playing Porn

A virtual court hearing was held Tuesday for Graham Clark, the 17-year-old accused of masterminding the July 15 hacking of the Twitter accounts of Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Barack Obama, and others. His bound court hearing was temporarily cut short after infiltrators entered the call playing porn and loud music.

Clark oversaw the hacking of several prominent Twitter pages and posted requests for Bitcoin deposits — he grossed over $100,000 from the hack.

The Tuesday hearing was to agree on a bond. Clark’s lawyer was in the middle of requesting a reduction from the current $750,000 bond when the intruders began playing the disruptive and obscene content.

17-year-old boy from Tampa, Florida has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the massive bitcoin hack on Twitter.

These interruptions posed as journalists to join the call but quickly deployed their destruction tactics. Dubbed ‘Zoombombers,’ unwanted Zoom guests have become a sort of trend over the last few months as classes and companies have taken to the video calling app to conduct class and business. The hearing was resumed about ten minutes, as reported by the Daily Mail. Hackers were able to play the videos and music as there were no protections against guests unmuting themselves and sharing their screens.

Clark is facing 30 felony charges including 17 counts of communications fraud, 11 counts of fraudulent use of personal information, and one count each of organized fraud of more than $5,000 and accessing computers or electronic devices without authority, according to the Daily Mail.

Greenfield trots out longtime Iowa Dem to defend her controversial business record

Senate contender Theresa Greenfield is out with a new ad featuring the praise of a local "small business owner" who is in reality a longtime Democratic activist and former elected official.

In the ad, former Des Moines City Council member and Democratic donor Loretta Sieman calls criticism of Greenfield's business record "flat-out false."

Greenfield has come under fire for her work as a real estate executive, which included evicting local businesses from an Iowa shopping center in a failed attempt to make way for a multinational corporation. In March, she quietly deleted all mentions of her former real estate companies from her campaign site.

Sieman, who runs a Des Moines-based nonprofit consulting firm, served 17 years on the West Des Moines City Council. She has repeatedly identified herself as a liberal—in a September 2019 interview with liberal blog Bleeding Heartland, Sieman said she was "born a Democrat." Iowa Democratic congresswoman Cindy Axne also touted Sieman's endorsement on a 2018 list of notable supporters.

Campaign finance disclosures show that Sieman has contributed thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and liberal causes over the last 16 years. She has given exclusively to Democrats at the federal level, including $750 to former Iowa Democratic Senate nominee Roxanne Conlin in 2010. At the state level, nearly 80 percent of Sieman's donations—more than $2,650—have gone to Democrats. Recipients include failed gubernatorial candidate Fred Hubbell, who received $1,000 from Sieman, as well as the Iowa Democratic Party. Sieman, who spent two years as a Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa board member, has also contributed nearly $1,000 to the Planned Parenthood Voters of Iowa PAC.

Good afternoon Chairman Cruz, Ranking Member Hirono, and members of the Subcommittee. I’m Erin Nealy Cox, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas and Chair of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee.

Thank you for inviting me here today to discuss the Justice Department’s efforts to counter violent anti-government extremism. For me, it’s a topic that hits close to home.

A little over a year ago, in June, a gunman clad in military gear and carrying an AR-15 style rifle opened fire on the federal courthouse in Dallas, which houses not only the federal judiciary, but also the United States Attorney’s Office and many other offices. The sudden violence ripped through the morning, just as we were arriving for work that day. Several of my prosecutors and others were caught in the midst of the attack. They resorted to hiding behind a cars in parking lot and one was pushed into the doorway by a FPS officer just as the bullets whizzed past them both.

Our office will be forever grateful to the FPS officers who engaged the shooter, ending the attack before innocent lives were lost. But to this day, we remain rattled by the gunman’s anti-government motives. He chose his location for a reason: A courthouse is one of the essential nodes within the body politics. It’s where laws are upheld, where justice is meted out. To target a courthouse, and those who work there, is to target the core of our lawful society.

And Dallas is no stranger to assaults on the rule of law. Three years prior – just blocks from the federal courthouse – a gunman, targeting law enforcement, ambushed police during a Black Lives Matter protest. Five officers were killed. Eleven others were injured, including nine officers. This was deadliest single incident for law enforcement in the United States since 9/11.

That day in July 2016 is certainly something etched in our memory. Just as the bullet holes still etched into the federal courthouse remind us daily: Anti-government fanaticism didn’t emerge with the 2020 protests.

But as our citizens have organized lawful demonstrations across this country following the tragic events in Minneapolis, anarchists have continue to exploit this lawful First Amendment activity as a shield for their violent behavior. Somehow, the notion of committing violence in the name of an anti-government dogma – be it Antifa, Boogaloo, or any of the other espoused ideologies – has been gaining traction at an alarming rate. Daisy Coleman, who appeared in the 2016 Netflix documentary “Audrie & Daisy,” has died, reports TMZ. She was 23.

Her mother Melinda told TMZ she died by suicide on Tuesday night, noting that her body was found after the concerned mom requested police do a welfare check.

Melinda shared, "She was my best friend and amazing daughter. I think she had to make it seem like I could live without her. I can’t. I wish I could have taken the pain from her!"

Daisy’s death comes just a few weeks after the one-year anniversary of her brother Tristan’s death. He was killed in a car crash at 19 in July 2019.

“Audrie & Daisy” explores the fallout surrounding two different rape cases involving underage girls. Daisy was allegedly raped at a Missouri house party in 2012 after being given alcohol. She was just 14. No one was convicted.

Her mother told TMZ, "She never recovered from what those boys did to her, and it’s just not fair. My baby girl is gone."

The other subject, Audrie Pott, was allegedly sexually assaulted in 2012 in California. She committed suicide 10 days later.

Coleman was the co-founder of SafeBAE, which aimed to end sexual assault among middle and high school students.

The non-profit tweeted, “As all of our supporters know, Daisy has fought for many years to both heal from her assault and prevent future sexual violence among teens. She was our sister in this work and much of the driving force behind it… We are shattered and shocked by her passing from suicide. She had been in EMDR therapy for 2 years, working on her triggers and healing from the many traumas in her life. She had many coping demons and had been facing and overcoming them all, but as many of you know, healing is not a straight path or any easy one. She fought longer and harder than we will ever know. But we want to be mindful of all the young survivors who looked up to her. Please know that above ALL ELSE, she did this work for you.”

The statement continued, “She loved talking to young people about changing the culture and taking care of one another. Much of her healing came from each of you. She was so proud of the work we’ve done and loved seeing so many fierce young activists push for change in their schools and among their friends. She would want young survivors to know they are heard, they matter, they are loved, and there are places for them to get the help they need. And she would want everyone else — peer allies, educators, parents, legislators, religious leaders — to come together to help stop sexual violence and help save teen lives.”

There Are No Women Leading Marine Infantry Platoons. The Corps Wants to Change That

Nearly 300 female Marines have moved into combat-arms jobs that were, up until less than five years ago, previously open only to men. But only one female officer has led a Marine infantry platoon so far.

Now, the Marine Corps is calling on female lieutenants and captains to consider making a lateral move into the infantry officer military occupational specialty. The decision would require women to attempt the arduous Infantry Officer Course, which prepares Marines to lead grunts in combat.

Two female Marines have passed the course so far. Women have been allowed to attempt it since 2012.

The Marine Corps put out a service-wide message this week soliciting female company-grade officers to volunteer to go infantry. The Infantry Officer Course is typically open to second lieutenants just out of The Basic School.

The push aligns with a priority Commandant Gen. David Berger set in February to get more women leading grunt units. Berger told Military.com earlier this year that he's not only open to extending the opportunity to first lieutenants and captains, but also women who left active duty before the restrictions blocking them from serving in combat jobs were lifted.

"If the door wasn't open before, why don't we say, 'OK, you're a captain – if you want to, we'll give you a shot,'" Berger said earlier this year. "... Or if they left the military or went into the Reserve because it wasn't an option for them, why don't we make it an option?"

Marine officials did not immediately respond to questions about whether there's a certain number of women they're hoping to see take up the call to attempt IOC. The message says qualified women interested in attempting the course must submit a lateral move package by Sept. 30.

The possible career switch is open only to those on active duty who haven't yet been considered for promotion to major. They must have completed The Basic School prior to January 2016, when combat jobs across the military opened to women. They must also be in top shape physically with a first-class physical fitness test score, and have current marksmanship and swim qualifications.

Naval aviators and unmanned aircraft system officers aren't eligible to apply.

The Marine Corps has struggled to find female officers willing to attempt the grueling 84-day Infantry Officer Course. As of February, fewer than 10 women had attempted it since infantry jobs opened to women in 2016, and two had graduated.

The weird thing about all this is how many stations have stopped reporting in July. And how do we know this one in Portugal was not taken offline and tampered with to make it blind to any actual radiation? Anon finds it pretty spoopy that the one station that did spike is somewhat isolated on an Italian island. While the one in Rome just went offline and was usless on the 4th. Strange. I'm going to dig moar on the exact location of the station that reported the spike after the explosion. Maybe the bad guys missed it? Or couldn't get to the owner?

Most of the data is from Japan, as this project was focused on Fukushima, but there are readings from many places.

Texas officials identified the body of 24-year-old specialist Francisco Gilberto Hernández-Vargas on Tuesday. The Fort Hood soldier had gone on a boating trip on Saturday and was reported missing that afternoon. On Sunday, officials recovered his body near the Stillhouse Hollow Lake, which is 15 miles from Fort Hood. Just last month, another Fort Hood soldier was found dead at the same lake.

A staggering 25 percent of mail-in ballots cast in Brooklyn for June’s primary elections were declared invalid, it was revealed on Tuesday, as Mayor Bill de Blasio called on the Board of Elections to shape up by November. More than 120,000 absentee ballots were filed in Kings County for the June 23 primary but about 30,000 were initially disqualified — and it wasn’t the fault of the voters, according to Rodneyse Bichotte, head of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. Bichotte — also a state assemblywoman whose district includes Flatbush, Ditmas Park and Midwood — said the disqualifying issues included a lack of postmark or late arrival. The BOE was still untangling the mess six weeks after the primaries and was unable to provide hard citywide figures on Tuesday.

But the Brooklyn debacle suggests a troubling failure in a system that may be relied upon to a elect a president this fall with the pandemic still raging. “Americans should not have to risk their lives to participate in the most fundamental right of democracy,” said Bichotte, who blamed the snail-mail balloting bungle on a lack of federal funding for the US Postal Service. In addition to missing postmarks and signatures, which some first-time mail-in voters didn’t know they had to provide, several ballots arrived late because the BOE and USPS delayed deliveries. In a lawsuit over the ham-handed handling of the remote votes, Manhattan federal Judge Analisa Torres ruled Monday that late-arriving ballots must now be tallied for the primary. Those disqualified for other issues, however, will remain invalid. Though the ruling was not expected to change the course of any races, it was hailed as a victory for voting accountability.

De Blasio on Tuesday said the BOE needed to address the issue in order to make mail-in voting reliable by November. “The Board of Elections can do better and must do better,” he told reporters in his daily press briefing. The mayor said he has long had “deep concerns” about the structure of the BOE, which consists of 10 commissioners approved by the City Council. Nevertheless, de Blasio said he believed the BOE as structured could shore up mail-in balloting in time for November. “I am certain they can learn from this and be prepared for the general election,” he said. “Three months is a long time. “There are whole states in this country that do everything with mail-in [voting] and it works perfectly well.”

Announcing the Expansion of the Clean Network to Safeguard America’s Assets

The Clean Network program is the Trump Administration’s comprehensive approach to guarding our citizens’ privacy and our companies’ most sensitive information from aggressive intrusions by malign actors, such as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Today, I am announcing the launch of five new lines of effort to protect America’s critical telecommunications and technology infrastructure. These programs are rooted in internationally accepted digital trust standards and built upon the 5G Clean Path initiative, announced on April 29, 2020, to secure data traveling on 5G networks into U.S. diplomatic facilities overseas and within the United States. The five new lines of effort for the Clean Network are as follows:

*Clean Carrier: To ensure untrusted People’s Republic of China (PRC) carriers are not connected with U.S. telecommunications networks. Such companies pose a danger to U.S. national security and should not provide international telecommunications services to and from the United States.

*Clean Store: To remove untrusted applications from U.S. mobile app stores. PRC apps threaten our privacy, proliferate viruses, and spread propaganda and disinformation. American’s most sensitive personal and business information must be protected on their mobile phones from exploitation and theft for the CCP’s benefit.

*Clean Apps: To prevent untrusted PRC smartphone manufacturers from pre-installing –or otherwise making available for download – trusted apps on their apps store. Huawei, an arm of the PRC surveillance state, is trading on the innovations and reputations of leading U.S. and foreign companies. These companies should remove their apps from Huawei’s app store to ensure they are not partnering with a human rights abuser.

*Clean Cloud: To prevent U.S. citizens’ most sensitive personal information and our businesses’ most valuable intellectual property, including COVID-19 vaccine research, from being stored and processed on cloud-based systems accessible to our foreign adversaries through companies such as Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent.

*.Clean Cable: To ensure the undersea cables connecting our country to the global internet are not subverted for intelligence gathering by the PRC at hyper scale. We will also work with foreign partners to ensure that undersea cables around the world aren’t similarly subject to compromise.

Momentum for the Clean Network program is growing. More than thirty countries and territories are now Clean Countries, and many of the world’s biggest telecommunications companies are Clean Telcos. All have committed to exclusively using trusted vendors in their Clean Networks. The United States calls on our allies and partners in government and industry around the world to join the growing tide to secure our data from the CCP’s surveillance state and other malign entities. Building a Clean fortress around our citizens’ data will ensure all of our nations’ security.

Pence rips Chief Justice Roberts in interview, calls him ‘disappointment to conservatives’

Several recent cases "are reminders of just how important this election is for the future of the Supreme Court," Pence said

In a television interview scheduled to air Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence tears into U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, calling him a “disappointment to conservatives.”

The vice president’s comments – made during a discussion with Christian broadcaster CBN News – follow several cases before the court in which Roberts, a 2005 appointee of former President George W. Bush, has sided with the court’s liberals in majority opinions.

“We have great respect for the institution of the Supreme Court of the United States but Chief Justice Roberts has been a disappointment to conservatives,” Pence told CBN’s David Brody, according to the network’s website.

“I think several cases out of the Supreme Court are reminders of just how important this election is for the future of the Supreme Court,” the vice president added.

Pence pointed in particular to Roberts voting in 2012 to uphold ObamaCare, a more recent decision to uphold Nevada’s coronavirus-related limits on church gatherings and a Louisiana case in which Roberts agreed that abortion-clinic doctors should have admitting privileges at local hospitals, CBN reported.

Regarding the Louisiana case, Pence called it a “wake-up call” for pro-life voters.

“That’s a very modest restriction on abortion providers,” Pence told Brody. “But a narrow majority in the Supreme Court still said it was unacceptable. I think it’s been a wake-up call for pro-life voters around the country who understand, in a very real sense, the destiny of the Supreme Court is on the ballot in 2020.”...

Beirut explosion leaves up to 300,000 homeless, similar to Hiroshima: governor

The massive warehouse blast that killed at least 100 in Beirut has also left up to 300,000 people homeless, the city’s governor said Wednesday — comparing the devastation to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. “I think there are between 250,000 and 300,000 people who are now without homes,” governor Marwan Abboud told Agence France-Presse, estimating the damage to be $5 billion. “It resembles to what happened in Japan, in Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” destroyed by atomic bombs dropped on them by the US in World War II. “That’s what [it] reminds me of,” he said after the Tuesday explosion, according to CNN. “In my life, I haven’t seen destruction on this scale,” he said.

Abboud had tears in his eyes as he told reporters it was a “national calamity,” Morocco World News said. “This is a disaster for Lebanon,” the governor said through his tears. “We need to remain strong, we need to hold on and be brave … but this is too much …” Beirut’s mayor, Jamal Itani, said he was “speechless” at the scenes of devastation. “It’s like a war zone,” he said. Lebanese President Michel Aoun called for an emergency cabinet meeting on Wednesday and said a two-week state of emergency should be declared, according to Aljazeera. He warned that the death toll would likely rise from the 100 so far reported dead, with at least another 4,000 injured so far. Prime Minister Hassan Diab also called for a day of mourning on Wednesday. At least 10 firefighters who raced to tackle the blast are still missing, Abboud told CNN, as hospitals are overwhelmed by casualties.

Pope Francis on Tuesday also offered his prayers Wednesday during his weekly General Audience from the library of the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City, CNN said. “Yesterday in Beirut, near the port, there were massive explosions causing dozens of deaths, wounding thousands and causing serious destruction,” the pontiff said. “Let us pray for the victims, for their families; and let us pray for Lebanon so that, through the dedication of all its social, political and religious elements, it might face this extremely tragic and painful moment and, with the help of the international community, overcome the grave crisis they are experiencing.” International aid is heading to Beirut, with Poland sending a team of about 50 firefighters, including 39 rescuers with 4 dogs and a chemical rescue module. A Greek military transport plane is heading to Lebanon with a search and rescue team with specialized equipment and a sniffer dog, while Cyprus says it will be sending help. Russia’s emergency officials said the country will send five planeloads of aid to Beirut after an explosion in the Lebanese capital’s port killed at least 100 people and injured thousands on Tuesday. Along with rescuers, medical workers, and a makeshift hospital, it will also send a lab for coronavirus testing, Russia said.

France, Jordan and other countries also said aid would be sent. Interior Minister Mohammed Fahmi told a local TV station that it appeared the blast was caused by the detonation of more than 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been stored in a warehouse at the dock ever since it was confiscated from a cargo ship in 2014. It sent a mushroom cloud into the sky and rattled windows on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, about 100 miles away. President Trump said Tuesday US officials fear it may have been an “attack.”

Fort Bragg sham marriage ring busted

Federal and North Carolina investigators closed the door on another sham marriage ring set up at Fort Bragg, NC. The investigation resulted in grand jury indictments for both active duty and former soldiers stationed at the base.

The charges state that the accused were involved in a criminal organization designed to fraudulently wed foreign nationals to soldiers. The sham marriages were arranged by a middleman.

The purpose of the fake marriages was to offer foreign citizens a clear path to citizenship and soldiers the opportunity to move off base and collect thousands of dollars in Basic Allowance for Housing pay.
