LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – U.S. Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Senator Tom Cotton will be holding two events in Little Rock on Thursday, July 9 with Arkansas Law Enforcement, public officials, and business leaders.

The first event will be the Federal and Local Law Enforcement Roundtable. It will be at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr will be there along with Senator Tom Cotton, Congressman French Hill, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, U.S. Attorney Cody Hiland, and Arkansas Law Enforcement Officials.

The event will be at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock on Financial Centre Parkway.

The second event will be the Arkansas Business Leaders Roundtable. This event will take place at 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr along with Senator Tom Cotton, Congressman French Hill, Lt. Governor Tim Griffin, and Arkansas business leaders will be there.

The event will be at RED & BLUE located on West 7th Street in Little Rock.

Regulators urge big push to ditch Libor by end 2021

Global financial regulators set out recommendations on Thursday for coordinating and speeding up preparations to scrap Libor, an interest rate benchmark banks were fined billions of dollars for trying to rig. The Financial Stability Board (FSB), which coordinates financial rules for the Group of 20 Economies (G20), surveyed the readiness of countries, banks and companies for getting rid of the benchmark by the end of 2021. Libor is currently used for pricing credit cards, home loans, company loans and derivatives worth trillions of dollars. National regulators should issue public statements to promote awareness of that Libor is on its way out, help to create a formal roadmap for scrapping the rate, and promote industry wide coordination, the FSB said.

Without adequate preparation, ending Libor would have a “significant negative impact” on financial and non-financial companies given there are many contracts that still mature beyond December next year, when the rate may no longer exist. “Authorities may need to fundamentally review their readiness to implement some of the recommendations in this report, and, if necessary, revise their plans accordingly to be prepared to work on an even more compressed timeline when the pandemic situation has stabilised,” the FSB said. Some market participants had hoped that disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic would force regulators to push back the end 2021 cut off date for Libor but this not happened so far.

The FSB said global exposure to dollar Libor in particular was an issue of increased concern and attention on the part of authorities given the size of exposures. Regulators want Libor replaced with “risk free rates” or RFRs compiled by central banks, like Sofr in the United States and Sonia in Britain.

“Lack of liquidity in new RFR products and the uncertainty of when sufficient liquidity will be achieved make it difficult to motivate market participants to shift to RFRs,” the FSB survey found.

The FSB said it will design indicators to update global Libor exposures and assess progress with transition by early next year.

Wooden Sculpture of Melania Trump Set Ablaze in Slovenia

A wooden sculpture depicting first lady Melania Trump was set on fire close to her hometown of Sevnica, Slovenia, on the Fourth of July, according to a report.

Reuters reports:

Brad Downey, a Berlin-based American artist, told Reuters he had the life-sized blackened, disfigured sculpture removed as soon as police informed him on July 5th of the incident. […]

Downey, 39, said he had filed a police report and would like to interview the culprits, if found, for a film he is preparing ahead of his exhibition due to open in Slovenia in September.

“The investigation in this case has not been completed yet so we cannot reveal details due to the interest of further procedures,” police spokesperson Alenka Drenik said in a statement to Reuters.

The first lady’s office has not publically weighed in on the report.

The sculpture, erected in July 2019, was made by local artist Ales “Maxi” Zupevc, who carved it with a chainsaw using living linden tree bark. The statue abstractly depicts the first lady in a Ralph Lauren powder blue ensemble that she wore for President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017.

BREAKING: Supreme Court hands Trump win, blocks Congress from getting his tax returns for now

The ruling came on the final day of the high court's 2019-2020 term

The Supreme Court on Thursday said President Trump is not immune from New York’s subpoena for his tax returns, but that a prosecutor will not get documents now.

The decision was the first of two Thursday by the high court on the matter. The case appears headed back to a lower court, which appears to mean the years-long matter will not be resolved before the November elections.

At a virtual meeting earlier in June hosted by the World Economic Forum, some of the planet’s most powerful business leaders, government officials and activists announced a proposal to “reset” the global economy. Instead of traditional capitalism, the high-profile group said the world should adopt more socialistic policies, such as wealth taxes, additional regulations and massive Green New Deal-like government programs.

“Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed,” wrote Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, in an article published on WEF’s website. “In short, we need a ‘Great Reset’ of capitalism.”

Schwab also said that “all aspects of our societies and economies” must be “revamped,” “from education to social contracts and working conditions.”

Joining Schwab at the WEF event was Prince Charles, one of the primary proponents of the Great Reset; Gina Gopinath, the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund; António Guterres, the secretary-general of the United Nations; and CEOs and presidents of major international corporations, such as Microsoft and BP.

Activists from groups such as Greenpeace International and a variety of academics also attended the event or have expressed their support for the Great Reset.

Following a series of reports claiming that the White House was weighing sanctions against Chinese officials under the "Magnitsky Act", ironically a law passed to target corruption in Russia.

According to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the sanctions make the individuals "ineligible" for entry into the US.

The decision will likely provoke a response from Beijing beyond just the angry rhetoric they often employ, as President Xi and top Communist Party officials have specifically denounced American economic sanctions on individuals and Chinese companies as "politically motivated" attempts to undercut the Chinese economy.

Notably, the move follows the UK's decision to use new "Magnitsky" powers adopted by the British government to impose sanctions on individuals involved in "human rights abuses" from Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Myanmar. Those targeted include senior Saudi intelligence officials believed to have been involved in the Khashoggi murder, as well as Russian officials implicated in the death of Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer who died in a Moscow prison after purportedly uncovering a massive fraud.

Both President Xi and President Putin have criticized the US for abusing its sanction powers, claiming that the end result will be more countries shying away from the greenback and using other currencies (the ruble, perhaps. or just straight gold) to store foreign reserves.

One twitter user offered some insight into who these men are. All of them, it seems, are senior CCP officials; one is a chief of police in Xinjiang, where nearly a million Muslims are believed to be held in captivity.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – U.S. Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Senator Tom Cotton will be holding two events in Little Rock on Thursday, July 9 with Arkansas Law Enforcement, public officials, and business leaders.

The first event will be the Federal and Local Law Enforcement Roundtable. It will be at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr will be there along with Senator Tom Cotton, Congressman French Hill, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge,U.S. Attorney Cody Hiland,and Arkansas Law Enforcement Officials.

The event will be at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock on Financial Centre Parkway.

The second event will be the Arkansas Business Leaders Roundtable. This event will take place at 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Who would like to know where $21 trillion of US taxpayer dollars disappeared to between 1995 - 2015? Pic#1 shows the bracketed tanker VANESSA is a Comoros Isl.-flagged ship; also in the anchorage is Liberian-flagged COMMODORE, and two Marshall Isl.-flagged oilers, RIO ORINOCO and RIO APURE. Interestingly, COMMODORE has a listed destination of Trinidad and Tobago, but it’s origin point of Singapore and duration of trip (departed April 22) gave it plenty of time to onload/offload as it chooses. Sounds sneaky, so I’m adding this one to the merchant watch list. COMMODORE, IMO# 9176993, MMSI# 636019754 is the tracking data for fellow BF’s.

Panamanian-flagged tanker NEW PAROS is also inbound with a destination shown as the Puerto La Cruz port nearby. Panama shipping deliveries are a pretty frequent occurrence so I’m sure this is not something SOUTHCOM worries about a great deal.

US & Russia not enemies despite existing disagreements – Russian ambassador

The United States and Russia are not enemies and cannot afford to stop talking to one another, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov has said. Speaking on Russia-US relations during a video conference organized by the Washington-based Center for the National Interest on Wednesday, he said: “There is an ongoing debate on who is more at fault for their current deplorable state.”

“There are contrasting views on who should take the first step towards the other side,” the diplomat noted. Currently, this process “resembles walking in a circle without any clear perspective of finding common ground,” he said.

“On many occasions, I had to persuade the American public that Russia and the US are not enemies. And that we cannot afford the luxury of not talking to each other, despite all the existing disagreements,” TASS quoted Antonov as saying.

For objective reasons, “the well-being of the whole planet depends on the quality of Russia-US relations,” he added.

Kelly Helped Secure Chinese Tech Giant's Stake in Firm

Mark Kelly, the former NASA astronaut trying to oust Arizona GOP Sen. Martha McSally, the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, was far more involved in facilitating a Chinese investment in a space exploration company Kelly co-founded than his campaign has previously acknowledged, according to Chinese news reports quoting the company’s then-CEO Jane Poynter and statements Poynter made to RealClearPolitics.

The story from officials at World View, the company Kelly co-founded, about Chinese tech giant Tencent’s involvement in the company also has shifted in recent weeks as it’s faced more media scrutiny for its decision to accept two sets of investments from the Chinese company. Tencent is one of the world’s largest internet enterprises and the owner of the popular Chinese social media platform WeChat, a texting application with more than a billion users. In recent years, it has faced international scrutiny over widespread suspicions and reports that it monitors the activity of many of its users both inside and outside China.

Those security fears have only increased this year amid the coronavirus pandemic and rising concerns about Chinese disinformation, spying and surveillance. A recent University of Toronto study found that WeChat has been censoring keywords relating to the COVID-19 outbreak since at least Jan. 1. Just last week, India banned Tencent’s WeChat app over concerns that it was secretly stealing users’ data and sending it back to China.

Critics of U.S. companies with Chinese investors, including World View, say the Chinese government uses the business relationships to steal U.S. defense and tech secrets and boost its own economy, at America’s expense.

In 2012 Kelly and several other former NASA astronauts and space-exploration experts founded World View, an Arizona-based company offering to take scientific instruments and people into earth’s stratosphere. At first the company focused on space tourism as its business model, with plans to charge $75,000 per commercial passenger on flights to near outer space in a capsule attached to a huge helium balloon.

In recent years, however, the company has increasingly shifted to contracting with NASA and the Department of Defense to use the balloon, known as a Stratollite, to carry unmanned payloads for extended periods and provide imagery of the Earth with a resolution sharp to five centimeters, far better than satellites can offer.

Kelly served as a strategic adviser to World View until launching his Senate campaign last year. He maintains a $100,000-$250,000 financial stake in the company in non-public stock and stock options of $15,001 and $50,000, according to the financial disclosure records Kelly filed in his Senate bid. His eldest daughter also works there as the company’s business opportunity manager.

Additionally, Kelly’s campaign has accepted at least $5,000 from David Wallerstein, Tencent’s chief exploration officer, responsible for the company’s operations outside mainland China and business initiatives with multinational partners. Wallerstein’s North American investment company, called Mount McKinley, is a subsidiary of Tencent and shares an address with Tencent’s headquarters in China.

Massachusetts AG: Harvard grad, former town accountant stole more than $729,000 from various cities

BOSTON, MA – WCVB 5abc reported that The Attorney General’s Office and Attorney General Maura Healey reported the accusation of theft and fraud by Justin Cole on Tuesday, July 7.

Cole is 38 years old and a graduate of Harvard.

Police say he stole money from the town of Uxbridge over a period of five years, 2012-2017. During this time, he was the town’s accountant. They are also accusing Cole of defrauding the towns of Monterey and Millville after leaving employment in Uxbridge.

Cole was indicted for stealing over $729,000 from various cities.

Prosecutors said Cole tendered and approved several false invoices causing Uxbridge to pay for services that were never provided.

It begins: Lawsuits begin to pile up for Seattle mayor and Washington governor over CHOP

SEATTLE, WA – The lawsuits are starting to pile up for both Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee over their handling of the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) zone in downtown Seattle, the site of two recent fatal shootings.

Washington attorney Jacob Bozeman recently filed a suit against Durkan and Inslee, both Democrats, over CHOP, part of a Seattle neighborhood where protesters calling for racial justice have tried to create a police-free zone, according to Fox Business.

Not only does Bozeman say the city allowed it, he claims they helped create it by installing barricades and bathrooms. He told KIRO 7:

“To abdicate the authority to an unelected, unauthorized and armed group of people to decide who can come and go, who can be searched and seized, and under what portions of the city you can come and go from, for fear of physical retaliation against you, is unconstitutional.”

Boris Johnson’s attempt to blame care facilities for Covid-19 deaths backfired after one council admitted it paid care homes to accept patients. More stories like this will emerge if he continues to deflect responsibility.

The uproar caused by PM Boris Johnson blaming care homes for the spread of coronavirus shows no sign of lessening, following revelations that cash was paid to those facilities prepared to take in hundreds of untested patients from hospitals as a council desperately tried to free up beds.

BoJo’s apparent “misspeak” – an excuse when someone unintentionally reveals what they truly think – that “too many care homes didn’t really follow the procedures in the way that they could have” has opened the floodgates to revelations of some very dubious behaviour at the outset of the pandemic.

And right up among the many missteps made throughout this crisis is the rush in Birmingham, the UK’s second largest city, to empty its NHS hospital beds of hundreds of patients, freeing up space for an expected flood of critically ill coronavirus victims.

To expedite this, the City Council admits it paid 16 care homes an incentive of £1,000 each to take in hospital patients. The proviso at the time was that the care homes had to move quickly and accept the discharged patients, whether or not they were infected with the virus.

At least 3 killed, 6 injured as military truck explodes while transporting fireworks from Turkish factory

A military truck transporting unexploded munitions, from the site of a blast at a fireworks factory in Turkey last week, exploded itself on Thursday, killing three people and injuring six others.

The fireworks and unexploded munitions were being transported to a quarry to be destroyed, but when the truck reached its destination some of the fireworks exploded without warning at roughly 12pm local time.

Eyewitness footage from the area shows the aftermath of the deadly accident as dozens of emergency services vehicles scrambled to the scene.

Hawaii: New Bill Would Give Health Director Power to Call a Health Emergency and Impose Quarantines

The Hawaii Senate voted 20-4 in favor of House Bill 2502 that would give the director of the State Department of Health the power to declare a health emergency if authorized by the governor. The governor already has the power to declare a health emergency, and critics of this bill say that it gives too much power to a state official who is not elected.

If the bill is made into law, the director would be allowed to require screening, testing, contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation of people deemed by the department to be infected, at higher risk of infection, or at risk of spreading infection. The measure now heads to the House.

Monday, the Hawaii Senate voted 20-4 in favor of the controversial House Bill 2502 that would give more power to the director of the State Department of Health (DOH).

The measure would allow the health director to declare a public health emergency if authorized by the governor.

Under an emergency, the director would be allowed to require screening, testing, contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation of people deemed by the department to be infected, at higher risk of infection, or at risk of spreading infection.

Kavanaugh & Gorsuch rule against Trump in Supreme Court tax returns case

Trump’s hotly-pursued tax returns may see the light of day, after the Supreme Court ruled that his financial records can be handed over to a New York grand jury in a decision supported by three conservative justices.

In a 7-2 ruling, the court found that a subpoena issued to Trump’s accounting firm, Mazars LLP, can be enforced, and dismissed Trump’s lawyers’ argument that he is immune from criminal proceedings. The request was part of a criminal investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, and years of Trump’s tax returns will now have to be turned over to a grand jury.

Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who were both nominated to the Supreme Court by Trump, along with another conservative, John Roberts, sided with their four liberal colleagues in the ruling.

The decision itself and the position taken by the president’s appointees prompted glee from Democrats at the turnaround.

Democrats have been insisting on seeing Trump’s tax returns since the 2016 campaign, and even floated the idea that this should be a condition for his opponent Joe Biden to participate in the debates. But the documents so far will only be available to the jury, and it’s unclear if the public would see them before the November election.

The Supreme Court also threw out related rulings allowing committees in the Democratic-led House of Representatives to obtain the president’s financial records, sending the issue back to lower courts. The committees had issued subpoenas to his accounting firm, Capital One bank and Deutsche Bank.

Trump was among those to react, tweeting that it was “all a political prosecution,” and that he will “have to keep fighting in a politically corrupt New York.” He pointed out that nothing happened to the “totally corrupt previous Administration, including a President and Vice President who spied on my campaign, AND GOT CAUGHT.”

Western spies are failing against Russia and China: time for a spycraft revolution

Western models of spycraft are failing. Traditional models of spycraft seek to inform decision-making based on predictive analysis, but this is no longer effective in today’s environment. By nature, closed and authoritarian regimes, such as Russia and China, have an easier job of spying on their more progressive and open adversaries — the United States and the West — and currently possess the advantage. What follows is the author’s abridged philosophy of intelligence on this revolution in spycraft.

Last year, Foreign Policy magazine introduced a provocative thought piece highlighting the ongoing revolution in espionage: namely, that intelligence agencies must adapt (or die) to disruptive changes in politics, business, and technology.

At the risk of irrelevance, Western intelligence agencies are learning that traditional models of spying are outdated and losing out to more nimble, collaborative, and less fragile adversaries. As the article adeptly notes, “the balance of power in the spy world is shifting: closed societies now have the edge over open ones. It has become harder for Western countries to spy on places such as China, Iran, and Russia and easier for those countries’ intelligence services to spy on the rest of the world.”

Circumstances such as unprecedented levels of legislative and judicial scrutiny, technological advances in mobile phones and electronic data, public skepticism of domestic and international intelligence activities, and general political scrutiny in liberal democracies are symptomatic of such difficulties. They represent an underlying revolution that is significantly disrupting traditional notions of Western spycraft.

Fugitive Border State Governor Had Mexican, Texas Fake IDs, Say Feds

Federal prosecutors in Texas assert that a fugitive former Mexican border state governor committed drug trafficking, bank fraud, and money laundering offenses with the use of false identities.

According to court documents recently filed in the case against Tomas Yarrington Ruvalcaba, prosecutors intend to use a series of “extraneous offenses in this trial to show motive, opportunity, intent, preparation,” as evidence of the defendant’s guilt. While Yarrington’s use of fake IDs has been known since his previous arrest in Italy, this is the first time prosecutors confirm their intent to use that information at trial.

The allegedly false identifying documents are a Mexican voter registration card and a driver’s license under the name Jose Angel Marquez Perez. There is also a YMCA member card under the name Tomas Chapa in Austin, Texas. The trial is expected to start in late September.

Tomas Yarrington served as the governor of Tamaulipas from 1999 to 2005. Court hearing briefs say Yarrington pocketed as much as $132 million. After his term as governor, Yarrington allegedly worked directly with the Gulf Cartel, Los Zetas, and the Beltran Leyva Cartel to help get access to top politicians for favors, court documents claim. Since the case first came to light, U.S. prosecutors seized several of Yarrington’s properties in Texas that were allegedly purchased with illicit funds.

Yarrington is not the only Tamaulipas governor wanted in Texas on cartel money laundering charges. Former governor Eugenio Hernandez Flores is currently in a Mexican jail fighting U.S. extradition. Hernandez is wanted on charges based on similar circumstances.

Last month, Breitbart Texas published exclusive documents from the now-defunct Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (PGR) that revealed previously undisclosed information about Hernandez’s alleged ties to organized crime and other corrupt activities.

Protected Witness to Election Fraud?

Most recently, current President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador alluded during one of his speeches about Eugenio Hernandez and other former top politicians possibly being used as protected witnesses in investigating allegations of fraud in the 2006 presidential election. Back then, Lopez Obrador lost his bid but claimed President Felipe Calderon rigged the election. It remains unclear if using Hernandez as a protected witness could interfere with the extradition fight. Hernandez Flores’ attorneys are actively filing injunctions in front of federal Mexican judges who could issue favorable rulings.

Engelwood, Colorado Passes Mandatory Face Mask Law for Every Citizen Over Age Five

The city of Englewood, Colo. located just south of Denver, will require all citizens to wear face masks Friday as coronavirus cases are on the rise. Violators will have the right to a trial but could face up to a year in prison or a $2,600 fine.

The emergency order was issued by City Manager J. Shawn Lewis and approved by the city council Monday, detailing that everyone over the age of 6-years old will be required to wear a mask when outside of their homes.

The order directs all members of the public to wear face masks that cover both their nose and mouth while in any retail, commercial, or government offices along with all health care facilities, including veterinary offices.

All people taking public transportation are required to wear face masks. Drivers of public transportation services, like Uber and taxi services are required to wear a face mask unless members of their family are in the vehicle.

Face coverings are not required when in a personal office and individuals are more than six feet apart from one another.

The Hong Kong government — a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) — has hired an anti-Brexit strategist in an effort to revive its dwindling global reputation after the imposition of a draconian national security law which stripped the city of its freedoms and autonomy.

In June, it was revealed that the Hong Kong government awarded the public relations firm Consulum a £5 million contract to help bolster the image of the city’s government in British media.

On Tuesday, The Guardian reported that the PR campaign “Relaunch Hong Kong” will be headed up by Ryan Coetzee, the former director of strategy of the anti-Brexit Remain campaign in the 2016 referendum, which sought to keep the United Kingdom bound to the undemocratic European Union.

The former strategist for the South African Democratic Alliance party previously worked as the director of strategy for the Nick Clegg-led Liberal Democrats until the 2015 general election.

Coetzee left the party following a disastrous performance in the election, in which the Liberal Democrats retained just eight of their 57 seats in the House of Commons.

Following the failed Remain campaign in the 2016 EU referendum, Mr Coetzee joined Consulum, where he has been actively working for the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, to improve the international reputation of the Islamic autocracy.

The puppet government claimed that the territory had failed to “mobilise the community to support law enforcement actions and condemn intimidation, doxing, vandalism and the criminal and violent behaviour of rioters” during the pro-democracy protests.

Numerous Texas Sheriffs Vow To Not Enforce 'Draconian' Mask Rule

Sheriffs in nine Texas counties will not enforce the state’s new mask mandate amid a resurgence of coronavirus cases.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, last week ordered masks to be worn in public buildings and outdoor spaces where physical distancing is not possible, The Texas Tribune reported.

The mask mandate applies to all counties with more than 20 active cases of the coronavirus, but exempts those under the age of 10, those who are eating and those who are exercising.

Fox News reported under the mandate, officers can cite people up to $250 for not wearing a mask if they are repeatedly found to be in violation of the order.

Sheriffs in at least nine counties, however, have announced they will not enforce the mask rule, CBS News reported.

One complaint from some of the sheriffs is that the rule is unenforceable, as it uses ambiguous language about detaining those who do not wear masks in public.

Per the CBS report, a number of the sheriffs feel that merely stopping a person for not wearing a mask is, by definition, a detention.

Law enforcement officers in Denton, Houston, Montgomery, Gillespie, Upshur, Kerr, Gregg, Nacogdoches and Panola counties will disregard the order.

Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphree explained his position on the mask mandate in a post on Facebook.

“A week ago they were carrying signs that said F the police, and demanding police be defunded. They were ignoring the Denton curfew order and blocked city streets. Now those same people are mad at me for refusing to enforce the mask mandate issued by the Governor,” Murphree said.

“Their hypocrisy is mind blowing.”

“This is an executive order not a law. Only the legislature can make law. So the accusations that I’m refusing to enforce the law are not true,” the sheriff added.

“The order is not a law, there is no requirement that any police officer enforce it, and it’s unenforceable,” Murphree wrote. “We can’t spend our time running from place to place for calls about mask we can really do nothing about.”

Houston Police Officers’ Union President Joe Gamaldi posted about the mask mandate on Twitter, describing it as “draconian.”

DOJ: Roger Stone should report to prison next week

The Justice Department supports Roger Stone being sent to prison next week, prosecutors said in a court filing. On Thursday, federal prosecutors asked a federal appeals court to deny Stone’s bid to postpone his prison sentence until September. Stone, a longtime Republican operative and ally of President Trump, had asked the appeals court to delay his surrender date until Sept. 3. His lawyers cited “medically documented life-threatening health risks” that Stone would face if incarcerated during the coronavirus pandemic. Prosecutors said U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson made the right call in denying Stone’s request for a 60-day extension to his surrender date. Stone is expected to report to a Georgia prison on Tuesday after Jackson postponed his prison sentence by two weeks in late June.

The DOJ said the two-week delay by Jackson, who presided over Stone’s trial, was a “reasonable exercise of that court’s discretion based on the totality of the factual and legal circumstances.” “Accordingly, the government supports the district court’s ruling, and this Court should affirm it,” prosecutors said in a court filing. Stone appealed his conviction and 40-month prison sentence in April, months after he was found guilty of making false statements, witness tampering, and obstructing a congressional investigation. “I guess if I had to make an appeal, it would be that on humanitarian grounds, as an act of mercy, as well as of justice, I would pray that the president uses his incredible powers of clemency,” Stone told RealClearPolitics last week. Trump has teased a possible pardon for Stone but has yet to grant his longtime confidant one. “It was a disgraceful situation that was allowed to take place. With that, you will see what I’m going to do,” Trump told RealClearPolitics in an interview this week.

House GOP pushes bill to withhold funding to schools that do not reopen

Teachers' unions across the United States are resisting a push from the Trump administration and House Republicans to reopen schools amid the coronavirus pandemic, instead opting for remote learning that experts say presents major risks to children.

President Trump on Wednesday threatened to cut federal funding for schools that fail to reopen in the fall, echoing a recent bill proposed by Reps. Jim Banks (R., Ind.) and Tom Tiffany (R., Wisc.). Multiple states have followed suit—Florida announced Wednesday that it will require schools to hold in-person classes beginning in August, and Gov. Ralph Northam (D., Va.) in June unveiled a phased reopening plan for all public and private schools.

Many powerful teachers' unions are pushing back against the drive to reopen. In Florida, Orange County Classroom Teachers Association president Wendy Doromal called the state’s reopening order "totally irresponsible" during a Wednesday CNN appearance. In Virginia, three teachers' unions representing Fairfax County schools asked their members to choose an entirely remote learning option for the upcoming school year.

The union resistance to reopening is at odds with the American Academy of Pediatrics. The organization in June released guidelines emphasizing the need for students to attend in-person classes this fall, citing the "considerable risk of morbidity and, in some cases, mortality" associated with "lengthy time away from school." Many students coming from low-income families rely on the meals and support services they receive in school. In addition, according to the AAP, the lack of in-person classes leads to "social isolation" that drives "child and adolescent physical or sexual abuse, substance abuse, depression, and suicidal ideation."

Banks said that while teachers he’s spoken to acknowledge the necessity of in-person classes, their unions "have a different motivation."

"We have to separate the teachers' union as a political organization versus teachers themselves," Banks told the Washington Free Beacon. "Any teacher, parent, and taxpayer that I talk to recognizes that what makes America great is a guaranteed public education for every child. When we’re not holding up our end of that deal, we're not giving this generation of kids the best opportunity to achieve the American dream."

Federal law enforcement officials have taken precautions to make sure Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, does not commit suicide while in custody. An unnamed official said Maxwell, 58, had her clothes and sheets taken away and that they made her wear paper attire while in custody at a federal jail in New York City, according to a Thursday report by the Associated Press. The Justice Department also implemented additional security measures to keep her safe from herself and other inmates. "We have a number redundancy systems to monitor the situation," Attorney General William Barr told ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas regarding Maxwell's safety. "I believe very strongly in that case, and I was very proud of the work done by the department, the Southern District, on that case."

Maxwell, a British socialite, was arrested by the FBI in New Hampshire last week on charges of conspiracy to entice minors, enticement of a minor, conspiracy to transport minors, transportation of a minor, and perjury. Investigators said Maxwell played a "critical role" in assisting Epstein in grooming underage girls. Epstein, a registered sex offender and wealthy financier, was arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges for allegedly abusing girls as young as 14. The 66-year-old was found dead in his Manhattan prison cell in August, which the New York City medical examiner determined to be a suicide. Maxwell is not being held in the same prison Epstein was at when he took his own life.

Mitch McConnell says GOP convention may not happen amid COVID-19

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell broke with the White House on Thursday and said the coronavirus pandemic may scuttle plans for the Republican National Convention. “We will have to wait and see how things look in late August to determine whether or not we can safely convene that many people,” McConnell said in his home state of Kentucky. The Republican leader did not directly answer whether he’s willing to skip the Jacksonville, Fla., gathering along with a handful of other GOP senators. “I think the convention is a challenging situation and a number of my colleagues have announced that they are not going to attend,” he noted.

Florida Democratic Rep. Donna Shalala is reportedly among those critical of the state party taking the federal stimulus money

The Florida Democratic Party will reportedly return roughly $780,000 received under the federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program, following bipartisan backlash about accepting the money appearing unethical. The group made the announcement Wednesday that it would return the money, a small business loan made available under the $670 billion Paycheck Protection Plan that Congress made passed this spring to help small businesses through the coronavirus pandemic, according to Politico. “Like many employers during the shutdown, FDP was concerned about meeting payroll and keeping our staff employed, so we applied,” the group said in a statement. “The bank, the loan processor and agents of the Small Business Association approved the funding. It now seems they made a mistake in approving the funding so we are volunteering to return it.

In May, party Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo, reportedly called the PPP a “disaster” that “funneled” money to large corporations but failed to disclose that the group had applied for a loan of $350,000 to $1 million. The loan agreement was discovered earlier this week when the Small Business Administration released a report on recipients. Among the prominent Florida Democrats to purportedly criticize the state party’s decision to apply for and accept the money is Rep. Donna Shalala. She has demanded that the party return the money and has refused to participate in a news conference Friday about President Trump’s upcoming visit to Miami, two sources told Politico.

How Many More Luckin Coffees? SEC To Discuss Listed Chinese Firms' Lax Accounting Standards, Fraud

Nasdaq delisted China’s Luckin Coffee over allegations of accounting fraud

Many of the letters to the SEC focused on a Chinese education called GSX Techedu

In May, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that could ultimately delist scores of Chinese stocks

A group of American investors have alleged that some Chinese-based companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges are fraudulent entities without accounting transparency that could harm U.S. investors. The Securities and Exchange Commission planned a roundtable conference on the issue on Thursday.

The conference comes only weeks after Nasdaq decided to delist China’s Luckin Coffee over allegations of accounting fraud related to fabricated sales figures.

In comment letters to the SEC in the past two months, dozens of investors and traders have cited instances of Chinese firms committing various acts of fraud.

For example, Carson Block, founder and chief investment officer of Muddy Waters Capital, an investment research firm based in California, wrote to the SEC: “Chinese-based [stock] issuers have committed and continue to commit fraud on a stunning scale in the [U.S.] capital markets… Protecting individual investors from the devastating financial impact of these frauds requires a profoundly different policy and regulatory approach.”

Block cited the aforementioned Luckin Coffee as an example. While Luckin Chairman Charles Lu was removed from his position, he remains the company’s largest investor wielding heavy influence. Block noted that no auditors of Luckin have resigned since the scandal broke.

Many of the letters to the SEC focused on a Chinese education and language school company called GSX Techedu, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol GSX.

GSX shares traded at $81 per share as of midday Thursday and the company has a market cap of $19.3 billion.

“The SEC's continued inaction on known China-based frauds is disheartening,” wrote investor David Monroe. “GSX has been clearly and unequivocally shown to be a fraud, and yet, the SEC has chosen to sit by idly. Please act on GSX and the other half dozen demonstrably fraudulent U.S.-listed companies from China before more investors… pile into these stocks and lose [most or all] of their money during the inevitable collapse.”

Thomas Forrest, a senior consultant of learning and development, also singled out GSX as a fraudulent company “that does not have staff commensurate to its filings to the SEC or compared to its valuation.”

Another investor named Janson You wrote that GSX might be a “Pearl Harbor” moment for U.S. stock markets.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham Is Preparing New Chemical Provocation In Greater Idlib: Russia Warns

Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is plotting to carry out a new provocation with chemical weapons in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib, Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria revealed on July 8.

Alexander Shcherbitsky, chief of the reconciliation center, said that the group had prepared at least fifteen improvised explosive devices packed with unknown toxic substances in order to stage the false flag attack.

“According to the intelligence data, militants have manufactured at least 15 improvised explosive devices replete with unknown toxic substances in a special laboratory located in the town of Sarmada,” the Russian TASS news agency quoted Shcherbitsky as saying.

Citing local informants in Greater Idlib, Shcherbitsky said the false flag attack could take place in the towns of Sfuhon, Fatira and Flaifel.

The three towns were likely chosen by the terrorist group because they are shelled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on a regular basis. Most civilians abandoned the towns during the last battle. HTS and its allies built a series of military positions there.

Over the past two years, Russian, Syrian and Lebanese sources have reported a number of attempts by HTS to stage false flag chemical weapons attacks in Greater Idlib.

HTS’ plots are nothing but a desperate attempt to provoke a U.S.-led attack on the SAA. The U.S. launched missile strikes on the SAA in 2017 and 2018 in response to alleged chemical attacks. Since then, terrorist groups in Syria have been attempting to provide a pretext for new attacks.

US Navy reverses unlawful order banning troops from indoor Mass, religious services

'This proves' that 'there is no pandemic exception to the First Amendment,' said Mike Berry, First Liberty Institute General Counsel.

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 9, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The United States Navy has revised its policy prohibiting active service members from attending in-person religious services. Those who disobeyed and attended church services had risked court-martial.

The move is seen as an important victory on behalf of religious liberty by Navy personnel affected by the previously enacted ban, and by those who fought on their behalf.

The change comes just days after First Liberty Institute sent a letter on behalf of active duty officer Daniel Schultz and several other service members affected by the order, asking the U.S. Navy to grant an accommodation so that he could attend indoor religious services.

The rollback also comes after LifeSiteNews launched a petition on June 30 which quickly garnered more than 18,000 signatures asking President Donald Trump – who had previously declared religious services to be essential – to intervene.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, issued a statement on July 5 in which he called the ban “odious to Catholics.”

On June 24, the Navy issued an order banning troops from attending indoor religious services, although other activities such as using mass transit, hosting social gatherings of any size, and participation in protests were all permitted.

The order specifically stated that “service members are prohibited from visiting, patronizing, or engaging in ... indoor religious services.”

The Navy has now walked back the order, which religious liberty advocates said was a most egregious overstepping of military personnels’ freedom to worship.

A memo from Acting Undersecretary of the Navy Gregory Slavonic sent to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Chief of Naval Operations offered new guidance concerning the order stating that nothing contained in previous instructions “should be construed to restrict attendance at places of worship where attendees are able to appropriately apply COVID-19 transmission mitigation measures, specifically social distancing and use of face covering.”

“I am directing you … to inform Commanders to incorporate this clarification allowing attendance at religious services where COVID-19 transmission mitigation measures may be appropriately applied,” added Slavonic.

The Israel Builders Association petitioned the High Court in May, accusing Chinese construction and engineering companies of behaving like a monopoly.

Reducing Chinese companies’ involvement in infrastructure projects can hurt Israel’s diplomatic and economic interests, lawyers for the Chinese Enterprises Association in Israel (CEAI) said, responding to an antitrust suit in the Supreme Court, in a document obtained by The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

CEAI is a group of major Chinese businesses working in Israel in several fields. The Israel Builders Association petitioned the High Court in May, accusing Chinese construction and engineering companies of behaving like a monopoly.

Citing bilateral agreements between the country and calling for the Prime Minister’s Office, National Security Council and Foreign Ministry to get involved, CEAI said “Israel’s diplomatic and economic interests can be severely harmed by this discussion.”

CEAI argued that strong Sino-Israeli economic relations – with annual trade over $13 billion – lean on diplomatic relations developed since 1992.

“The ramifications of accepting the petitioners’ stance in relation to the Law for Promoting Competition and Reducing Market Concentration are mega-global, politically and diplomatically,” CEAI’s response reads. “They go beyond the Israeli market into the world geopolitical plane and are expected to change Israel’s status in the international arena and influence its foreign relations.”

CEAI’s attorneys brought up past court cases in Israel involving Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard and others to show that there is a precedent by which judges decline to intervene in cases that can harm Israel’s foreign relations.

CEAI members are all owned, directly or indirectly, by the Chinese government, and are able to offer much lower prices for their services than Israeli companies.

ROOTS of the "MSM on Q" Project_

In the fall of 2018, this anon started digging on what had been written about Q by the MSM. Found some posts in qresear.ch, but nothing systematic. In Jan 2019, posted the first of 12 reports detailing articles on Q: what was said, who was saying it, and which publications were most active. That first report detailed over 300 articles where Q was the main focus (not just mentioned in passing). Now there are 2000 in the database and many more not documented here, because I limited the search to English articles published either in the US, Canada or England. In the beginning, I seldom ran across foreign language articles. This dramatically changed after the ChristChurch mass shooting in March 2019. Now there are articles on Q from all over the globe in many different languages. As with American MSM pubs, these were - and are - full of derogatory claims, mostly unsubstantiated. During the first half of 2018, the aim was to write Q off as a larp. But on Aug 1 2018, the forces behind the MSM launched a nationwide war against Q, trying to create the impression of Q and those of follow Q as right-wing white supremicists capable of violent acts. After Christchurch, they tried to link Q with 8chan, despite the fact that shooters who posted manifestos on 8chan never posted on /qresearch.

When Q generated a long MSM list Q #2018 (Feb 2019), I used that as a guide, but also added Right Wing Watch and Media Matters. There are some MSM videos included, since that's the format favored by the Big Three networks: ABC, NBC and CBS. But only a few tweets, because the object was to track (supposedly) substantive material. Did include as an add-on one extremely important twitter thread by Praying Medic, where he tore apart the highly specious but widely cited claim by Yahoo Fake News in late July 2019 that one FBI branch had designated Q group as domestic terrorists (search on "praying medic" to find it in the article PDF's).

This is the LAST REPORT re MSM articles on Q

This is a good stopping point for several reasons. First, the number of articles continues to grow, making the project increasingy unwieldy for a single anon w/no staff. Second, the technical limits of MS-Word are almost exceeded; the file is becoming highly unstable. Third - and most importantly - the three original goals have now been achieved. Anons now know a lot more about who is writing, what they're saying, and which pubs who are pushing the MSM narrative the hardest (Wapo is the obvious leader with 150 articles; see below). We also know their tactics and how they have changed over time. But the most important thing we know is this: although they have been engaged in major league mudslinging since the very start, very little of it has stuck. Q is more popular now than ever, while the MSM's reputation continues to slide into oblivion. This anon will continue to track key MSM trends. Just won't be generating this kind of raw data.

TRENDS April-June 2020

From Jan to March 2020, the MSM articles on Q were pretty scatter-shot. By mid-March, the MSM started pushing fear porn very hard as part of their effort to unseat the current President. In April and May, they pushed Covid-19 to an extreme and derided Q's pushback on that narrative by characterizing Q followers as nut jobs bent on endangering the public by providing "misinfo" on the virus and related topics (vaxxing, HCQ, masks, projected cases/deaths). Of course, the exact opposite is true: it's the MSM that's been ruthlessly hyping Covid-19 disinfo.

Since George Floyd's death in late May, the press has pushed the fake boogaloo narrative in an effort to show that the violent activity during "protests" was from the right, not the left. Favorite tactic: juxtaposing Q and boogaloo hoping readers will think they are associated. Once the election primaries picked up in May, they tried to blackball any Q-endorsing candidate. In the past, they were able to get people fired simply by doxxing them as Q followers. This time around, several MSM targets won their primaries despite tons of negative PR.

The Met police carried out an operation to arrest three terrorist suspects in the east of the British capital, another man was detained in Leicestershire.

The police said that four men were arrested for “preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism” as part of a proactive investigation.

Three suspects were detained at two separate addresses in East London, with one more apprehended in Leicestershire.

Video on social media showed armed officers from the Counter Terrorism Command breaking into a home in Goodmayes and escorting two men outside.

“No shots were fired” during the operation, according to the law enforcers, but one man was bitten on the foot by a police dog and taken to hospital.

Witnesses told local media that loud bangs, which resembled gunshots, were heard.

The loud noises weren’t gunshots, but “part of distraction tactics used by officers,” a police spokesman clarified later.

The suspects were aged between 17 and 32, the police said, adding that the officers have been conducting searches at four locations in East London.

The neighbors at one of the addresses where the arrests were made told the UK media that they were “a little bit shaken” by what had happened.

They also said they didn’t know the inhabitants of the home, which the police raided, too well because “they don't speak very good English.” The locals added that it was a “mystery” for them, who actually lived in the house, due to people always coming and going.

A New Jersey driver crashed head-on into a pole — after passing out from wearing an N95 mask for hours, police said Friday.
