A rogue tyranny like that simply cannot exist in the kind of future we say we want to build. One way or another, it has to fall.

I know exactly what many people will say. That this is just another Zionist agenda, another long-standing push by Netanyahu and his allies for regime change in Iran. And let me be clear, I am not pro-Zionism, but the fact that something aligns with Israel’s interests does not automatically make it wrong, nor does it mean it isn’t also aligned with the interests of the Iranian people themselves. Two things can be true at once. It all depends on what comes after the regime change.

What matters to me is not who benefits geopolitically, but whether the people of Iran are finally freed from a regime that has crushed them for decades. A regime that suppresses women, silences dissent, imprisons thought, and rules through fear.

Iran in the 1970s was a thriving, modern, outward-looking society. Look at it now, that trajectory is not just tragic, it’s unacceptable.

I also don’t buy the idea that Trump is simply a puppet of Netanyahu, I never have. Last year, when Israel was clearly pushing to escalate militarily against Iran, Trump stepped in and shut that down with a fast, contained operation; in and out, no prolonged war, no regional explosion. If anything, that move stopped Israel in its tracks and prevented exactly the kind of endless conflict so many of us fear.

That tells me something important: if regime change does come to Iran, it won’t be under the old war-machine playbook. It won’t be about dragging the region into chaos for profit. And while Israel and the US may share certain objectives, (like not wanting a regime that funds or harbours terrorism), their motives are not identical.

But stepping back from all of that, my position is actually much simpler. As a collective humanity, we can no longer tolerate systems like this. We cannot talk about a better, freer, more sovereign world while accepting that entire nations are still trapped under brutal theocracies. We cannot build a future rooted in dignity and freedom while millions live under constant repression.

Whatever shape it takes, this chapter in Iran’s history is coming to an end. It has to, because the world we are moving toward simply has no room for tyrannies like this anymore.
