>will find a lot of women in the lower classes competing against men
I think when you get to the highest levels of sport, you get to the limits of human ability, and small genetic differences matter.
It's like how all the finalists in the 100m Olympic sprint tend to all be black.
There actually have been scientific studies about how black people's muscles work better for explosive power (or some shit), so they make better sprinters.
Now that doesn't mean that some random black guy who lives on McDonalds and has never trained is going to be faster than a white sprinter, but when you get to the limit of what is possible for a human, a black guy will have an advantage.
As for racing, science tells us that men are better at spatial reasoning and spatial awareness than women, which is the ability (amongst other things) to judge speed and distance.
Like the sprinter, that doesn't mean that some random man will be better than Susie Wolff, but when we approach the limit of what is possible for a human, a man will have an advantage.
So at low level motorsport where the talent differences between individuals is huge, it doesn't really make a significant difference, but when we get to F1, unfortunately women are at a disadvantage.
