Autogate crosspost thread.

tl;dr Project cars sucks balls like every other game made by slightly mad studios. People who (much like 10 bux) bought it during development defended it and people who criticize the game are getting banned from backer forums. Jack Baruth of TheTruthAboutCars, who is aware of the media narrative about GG calls them out and points out how this shitty excuse for auto journalism is ruining Auto enthusiasm.

This is completely 100% related to F1, this is why people defend what F1 has become to the death. They are emotionally invested in the disaster that is the current formula. The media is complicit.

It has the same problems as SMS other games. Also they have banned forum members that have criticized it which is enough reason to not buy as is.

Who's to say you're not one of the shills that the article describes.

Here we fucking go again. This is an F1 board, not a GamerGate board. Take your horseshit SJW Goon shill accusations elsewhere. I get dead fucking tired of them on /v/, and the last place I expect to find them is here.

This may come as a surprise to you, but journalism at its core is corrupt. It has been for almost a decade. Motorsport journalism always has some sort of proxy, some sort of hidden agenda it's trying to push, but it's nowhere NEAR as corrupt as vidya journalism. Not even close.

Remember the controversy with Anthony "Cuckmeister" Davidson? Remember the fiasco with grid girls? Remember the most recent issue with grid girls getting sprayed? Yeah, those are non issues right now in motorsport. They were written up by click baiting retards to draw people into their shitty news site, much like a Kotaku or Polygon would for a vidya related article.

There are plenty of other proper, legitimate news sites people know about and respect. They're far easier to find than vidya websites, and are the only places one should be going to for their motorsport news.

And yeah, Project C.A.R.S. is real fuckin' good.

It plays like shit on a controller because it wasn't made for a controller.

Shift 1 and 2 played fine with a controller because they were given a shit ton of filtering because they were console arcade sim racers.

>>8502

/v/ can have GamerGate discussions because GamerGate is the single most important thing to come out of the video game industry in ages. This "autogate" garbage, this conspiracy about moto journalism, is null and void simply based on the fact that F1 doesn't have people with SEKRIT KLUBS colluding together to write a narrative, to push an agenda, to pander to a group that is the minority in Motosport.

Gaming does have all that, and plenty more. Gaming as it is right now is in shambles, and GamerGate finally exposed the corrupting in the media for what it is, and people are finally waking up to it.

None of this shit is even remotely newworthy. Why? Because it's a fucking CLICK. BAIT. ARTICLE. These things have existed since the dawn of newspapers, and everytime someone sees one now they assume the worst and go full conspiracy theory mode on it.

I don't want F1, and especially this board, to turn into what /v/ has turned into. GamerGate may be doing good for the entirety of the industry, but the cause has brought in a plethora of retards who have shit up the board beyond recognition. I don't want that to happen to this board, especially on something so minor that only has various minor connections that may or may not link someone or something to Gawker and subsequently "SJW goon shills."

What the fuck do you think the corruption with Joe Saward and Forza Rossa was? What about the collusion to not attack pirelli or a single tire constructor in public that David Coulthard mentions? What about the fact that the F1 strategy group and CVC are doing underhanded shit with the only difference being that they aren't secret.

Autoenthusiasm is in the shitter and this is a chance to improve it.

This wont take over the board and ruin it, but delusional circle jerking over the current state of F1 will turn us into reddit real quick.

Yeah, that's what GamerGate said until they found the fullest extent of the damage. the vast majority of motorsport journalism sites are corrupt, but that doesn't mean there aren't any that are corrupt. There's still sites out there writing good old fashioned journalism articles, who are working hard to bring the facts and to bring an unbiased news articles free of agenda pushing horseshit.

If you guys want to discuss this then whatever, I don't even care any more. We're a small enough board with level headed people, but pls, for the love of God, don't go full GamerGate on me. Until something ridiculous happens, until something conclusive is found in relations so some shithead trying to run some agenda or push some narrative with his cronies, there is nothing worth making this a "gate" out of.

I'm going to have to agree with this for the time being.

The accusations from Joe SeaWorld that the F1 writer from Forbes is Bernie's lap dog and is his media outlet are still just accusations from two people who bitterly hate each other.

And even so I somehow find the situation different when it comes to a sport doing corrupt things. Especially such a big geopolitical sport where you have people like Todt and Bernie running it. The same is true with FIFA and with Blatter.

I find it pretty much like standard politics.

On a side note Bernie running FIFA would be much worse for corruption than Blatter. A world cup in Qatar would be the worst of our problems.

Yes, and you're free to do that, but just because some people don't see the value in such a thread doesn't mean it has a right to exist. We should simply value the fact that we can have varied conversation. If you want to see less of this shit, you need to convince that its in all our best interests to get rid of it. Personally I don't have any problem with it, and in fact I encouraged varying opinions and discussion, so long as they pertain to motor racing. Even if the thread is dead I found the information it presented interesting and enlightening. Just because it's here doesn't mean your forced to read it.

http://autoweek.com/article/formula-one/sebastian-vettel-goes-thumbs-down-grid-boys-f1-monaco-grand-prix

>Sebastian Vettel was no fan of the 'grid boy' concept that debuted on Sunday's Formula One Monaco Grand Prix grid.

>Normally, when Formula One drivers pull into their grid hatching ahead of a race, they are greeted by a 'grid girl' holding a placard with their name and number.

>"What was that?!" Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel said.

>He was referring to the absence of grid girls, as they were all replaced by male models wearing short jeans and white sandshoes.

>"You get there and park behind George or Dave, what's the point?" Vettel added.

>It is reported that the decision to replace the girls for boys was taken by the Monaco race promoters.

>Earlier this year, the World Endurance Championship announced that grid girls would no longer stand on the pre-race grid, even at prestigious Le Mans.

>As for the similar move at Monaco, Vettel was quoted on Sunday by the Kolner Express tabloid: "I'll speak with Bernie (Ecclestone) about it."

>It is reported that the decision to replace the girls for boys was taken by the Monaco race promoters.

I think that is really the crucial thing here. It was Tag Heuer's decision and they decided for whatever reason to have grid boys so unless the FIA mandate it as a rule in the sporting reg (That would be one of the funniest of reg changes) it will be an option.

I'm actually okay with it being an option. If a race promoter desperately wants grid boys/children/tentacle monsters/WAGs/blowup dolls/horses and they paid to be a race promoter then I'm perfectly fine with that.

They are the ones paying for the models and have a brand to advertise.

For a lot of brands girls will always be the better way to market things so it isn't really a problem.

In WEC the races don't have prominent sponsors so the grid girls were employed by WEC and featured no sponsoring.

It's pretty understandable that the WEC didn't want to have to keep paying for 60 models to stand around with no return of investment and covered up getting rid of grid girls on a cost basis by saying they were being progressive.

F1 does not need to make a habit of replacing the traditional 'grid girls'.

That is the view of Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, after Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel admitted his surprise on Sunday at having pulled up to find "George or Dave" holding his grid board.

Bookmark and Share

"I'll speak with Bernie (Ecclestone) about it," the mischievous quadruple world champion said.

Some, however, applauded the sport's move into 'grid decoration' gender equality, following fabled Le Mans' earlier decision to do away with grid girls altogether.

However, the correspondent for Spain's Diario Sport, Laura Lopez Albiac, said Monaco's 'grid boys' were merely a one-off, at the behest of organiser Michael Boeri rather than Ecclestone or the FIA.

Toto Wolff, husband of female F1 test driver Susie, admitted he hopes to see the girls again.

"We are used to seeing beautiful women next to the cars on the grid," said the Austrian, "so this was unexpected.

"I have nothing against the good-looking guys, but in my opinion what we had before was not discriminatory," Wolff added.

I'd argue that grid girls are a very big part of the pageantry of a grand prix and it would be just as silly to not have a podium ceremony to not have grid girls.

I've never given a single fuck about grid girls and wouldn't mourn a bit if they were got rid of. If I want to see pretty girls I go to the internet.

I neither think there is anything wrong or degrading about them. If some girls are ready to take such a job they are free to do so. I get the argument about it being patriarchal or whatever, and in essence it is I guess if it truly is that they are there just to be pretty and please some old men, but they are not forced to be there, if a woman chooses to do that what can you do? If it truly was such an issue for women's rights you would expect no self-respecting woman to take a job like that, but obviously there are lots of willing people doing it.

Tbh if I was being paid about just being myself and standing around a Grand Prix I would do it too.

What if they got rid of the champagne, or the wreaths, or the trophies, or the podium itself? It wouldn't be a grand prix. No one of these elements so greatly changes the sport, but they're each big chunks of the experience and glitz.

IMO they are not comparable at all. Podium ceremony is important because you see the drivers celebrating, the drivers pouring champagne etc. The girls are just standing on the background.

Also I guess this is part of the issue, that you are comparing them to inanimate objects, which is pretty much objectifying women.

>or the wreaths

They got rid of wreaths after the 1986 Italian GP.

It was understandable though as it covered up the sponsors who paid for that advertising.

And that is how it is like with all of those things.

Why have they not got rid of champagne? Because Mumm pays a lot of money.

Why have they not got rid of the trophies? Because race sponsors pay a lot of money for those designs..

Why have they not got rid of the podium? Because the sponsors on the podium and the suits pay a lot of money.

Why have they not got rid of grid girls? Because grid girl sponsors pay a lot of money.

There is no idea of trying to keep the "glamour and glitz" of an F1 race. It is down to cold hard fucking cash,

Money makes F1 go round and as long as there are sponsors there will be grid girls.
