Depends on how competitive their EDH is. Fetches can respond to non-basic land hate, and still fix mana. They also happen to be extra copies of their shock or dual lands, and that could be clutch still in 3 colours early on. And that's not getting into if they're running any cards like mutilate that cares about how many of a given basic you have on the board.

But the thing about EDH was that it was supposed to be "here's a chance for all these non-competitive old cards to shine outside of cube".

I don't have a problem with EDH having competitive events, the problem to me is that it's been acknowledged by Wizards and has official sanctioning. This means they create cards that are balanced for it, etc., while ignoring those cards' impacts on eternal formats (eg, buy 4 of this EDH deck exclusive card or else you can't use a meme FOTM deck in Modern!).

It should have always stayed a casual format

All you need is one hyper competitive guy to sit down at the table, before an arms race starts. Still kitchen table, still casual setting, still can get cut throat. I also don't mind it, it means decks can get retired, and only be brought out in some circumstances.

I'm not at all against WotC creating EDH-oriented cards, I'm against turning everything into a competition.

Sure a deck has to function and not suck, and a few high-profile/expensive cards don't matter but netdecking until it's pinpointed to win a Grand Prix (so to say, please tell me this doesn't yet exist for EDH) kills the whole use of the format in my honest opinion.

My latest EDH I made was with Valduk, Keeper of the Flame.

Being Tron-ish and needing lots of artifacts and enchantments merely attached to it to work, I could make 1/3rd from the spells of my card pile.

Using old cards from your card pile is one of the reasons I like EDH, and this gets lost when you go full competitive.

Ignoring your embarrassing lack of format knowledge, the record should note that only a few EDH cards have been Legacy playable.

>Kess, Dissident Mage

>True-Name Nemesis

And perhaps one or two fringe cards someone shoved into Nic Fit once. While none of these cards has been healthy for the format, in the current meta, none of them are really played. Even TNN is a liability against fast/combo decks.

So what's the consensus on Pauper as a format? Looking over the deck lists and played cards, it looks like the decks play kitchen table magic from a pool of bad cards, but somehow ends up being competitive and interesting.

For example, the only time you'd see a PT Swap deck is at the kitchen table. Or I guess in this format, which is cool.

Pauper is a format in which you can only use commons, so it's bound to be cheap AND kitchentable.

>but somehow ends up being competitive and interesting.

Your card pool gets limited down to any card that got printed in common rarity.

It's just Legacy without uncommons, rares or mythics, so eventually other cards will take the place of these.

The Mythic Invitational is happening at PAX East today and tomorrow (and the day after?) on the Magic Twitch channel. It's as awful as you'd expect.

>two grown men in GAMER CHAIRS playing a card game by staring at two computer monitors

>eyesore LEDs over every surface in sight

>client looks like hearthstone except marginally less cartoony and colourful

>both players playing Esper Control and Mono-Red because the enforced turbo-random Standard format is awful

>>surprise, the pro players figured out how to hedge their bets with deckbuilding

>card art is 3D garbage with WHOOSH SO COOL tweened awful animation

The Twitch plugin integration on the left side of the broadcast is uniquely awful. It's a mess of visual information, has several buttons which show player bios of all things (you care about these e-celebs, right?), and covers up the round timer. I will say it's nice to be able to browse both players' decklists and see every card, but the solution is so inelegant.

I'm currently watching an esper control mirror where both players have plunked Teferi into play umpteen times. If it goes to time, the victor will be decided by who has the higher life total. And this whore on the right is one of the worst commentators I've ever heard. Nasally, the worst fucking unfunny "jokes" I've heard in recent memory, and no knowledge of the game. Thinking of running another unconventional deck next week but I can't think of what. At least in my local meta, they're starting to realize I was right to grab a bunch of Isolates, since everyone is dumping 1cc things every game. I should try to unload them fast since they and Ixalan rotate out in the fall.

As for decks, I wanted to do something with Desecrated Tomb, maybe a self mill strategy, but it seems convoluted. Another idea was WB/u prison, but I don't have the cards

As far as the format itself currently goes, I really dislike it. When I actually get a deck going and play it, I enjoy it.

I had a fun idea for a Modern deck, not sure how viable it would be, but Fall of the Thran with Power Conduit for a soft land lock.

Standard doesnt really have any ways to interact with counters unfortunately. Walkers are historic though, so that archetype might be a thing soon.

I believe they changed the particulars of it. If I recall, you used to only be able to have one "type" of a planeswalker before (ex one Ajani planeswallkers at a time). Legendary Planeswalker — Nissa (R)

Whenever you tap a Forest for mana, add an additional G.

+1: Put three +1/+1 counters on up to one target noncreature land you control. Untap it, then it becomes a 0/0 elemental creature with vigilance and haste that's still a land.

-8: You get an emblem "Lands you control are indestructible". Search library for any number of forests, put them onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library.

I like it

Ever since walkers were introduced, they were always at rare/mythic and hard to acquire unless you were lucky, traded for them, or dropped a lot of money, and in smaller stores/areas like mine, there just wasn't a lot of new cards coming in. In addition to their rarity, there's few ways to actually interact with them and almost always at rare (Vraska's Contempt, Bedevil, etc)

Anyways, since they're so low power and do things other than +1/-1/-8 and have static/triggered abilities now, hopefully they're more interactive instead of "midgame do dumb thing every turn"

At least in EDH, walkers are lower tier just because of how easy it is for different people to get in multiple attacks in before your next turn even begins. Only specific superfriends builds sometimes work, and then they are lower tier anyways. Never ascribe malice when ignorance or greed requires fewer leaps of logic, and "Alara and NPh were both popular, lets try to catch that lightning in a bottle" not only requires fewer assumptions as a whole, it is something WotC has done far more often than kill a whole playstyle with a few cards.

These cards work really well with blink effects. You can get a soft infinite ETB loop with two Lumbering Battlements. With ETB proliferate creatures you can get a lot of counters on things (such as the 1G creature). Because of Proliferate I also want to try putting Magistrates Scepter into it as a wincon.

It feels incredibly janky but I'll look forward to building into it over time. Its bant colors, but I worry I'd run out of cards or life by turn 5, given how aggressive the meta is

I kind of like the design, and that boar-god's existence has been mentioned in the lore since the first Ravnica IIRC.

It's worshiped by the Gruul, it's part of their religion/philosophy against civilization, it even has a green ability (playing creatures from your hand).

Even if Daretti is your commander and you can loot away a Mycosynth so that your Welder can put it into play, you need all three of them in play to make this happen. So you need to play two 4 cost cards and a 1 cost, presumably you'll play Welder turn 1 and then ramp on 2 so you can play Karn on 3 and then Daretti or vice versa but this is a magical christmas land that a singleton format doesn't make likely. Plus you aren't playing both of them on the same turn, Karn or Daretti has to be first and once someone sees that you have Welder and either of them on the field (assuming they let it happen in the first place) what makes you think it won't eat removal? That is exactly the kind of thing that is a removal magnet.

This combo is fragile and not as good as you think it is, you're being retarded. Apologize to the other anon.

Last week of playing Goblin Cavalcade! Turnout was 10 players, went 2-2 on my matches. Might have made the cut to top 4, but I have to work in the morning so I left a bit early. Made some good trades, acquired 2 more shocklands, someone was interested in a big stack of my $15-$40 cards, so I have to assess them and figure out a trade (he has fetches and even 2 Gaea's Cradles, which he got from buying lots). Hopefully I can get something of value, though he's a good friend and hopes for a deal because of the bulk number of cards he wants.

Anyways, the two decks to beat right now are his Red burn deck, which runs risk factors, light up the stage, and just a lot of cheap guys and burn. I had a game where I put 3 fountains of renewal into play and he still managed to blitz me out like it was nothing. Disgusting deck. Other deck is some mono black value deck with those priests and reassembling skeletons and demons. Seems midrangey and is actually interesting to play against.

Next brew is probably going to be something from pics related. I want to do the Lumbering Battlement infinite combo, but I'm not sure how resilient it is to disruption. There's a good number of cards in all colors to support a White and/or Blue base. Probably going to go 3 colors. For example, Red can go infinite mana off the Wily Goblin (but I don't think the store has any). Green seems weaker, except for the Knight of Autism. Aviation Pioneer and Skyscanner give me on-color tokens and draw anyways, so it'll probably be a WUB/Esper blink deck with fringe prison/control elements.

It depends on the card and if there was a recent buyout. It's pretty crazy right now as people are buying stupid shit left and right, which is driving up prices. Sell into hype whenever you can and never buy into hype. For cards that aren't spiking, I'd look at sites like mtggoldfish or mtgstocks and sell when they're running hot or at least when they aren't bottoming out. I wouldn't sell shocks near the time they rotate out as a lot of them are going to be getting dumped on the market at that time. A lot of cards are either running low in supply and are rising in price or are outright being bought out. Sell those cards when their prices skyrocket and hopefully before enough of them get put back on the market. mtg is fucking stupid right now with card prices, so use that to your benefit.

There are buyouts for cards that get mentioned on various youtube channels and popular online forums, even though they aren't that good.

>pic related

Feather is a card that is causing all sorts of other cards to spike and there are numerous buyouts and this is for a card that hasn't been released yet, so it doesn't actually have a good deck to its name yet. People are just trying to buy into the next Arclight Phoenix and Hydroid Krasis before they shoot into the $30/$40 range. I was saying to keep an eye out for which cards are spiking and which cards are drying up and to then sell those cards while their prices are still high. This is selling into the hype. The hype could end up being real and you could lose some money, but that's going to be far and few between. For selling shocks, look at mtggoldfish and compare the price of shocks from the current sets to older sets to get an idea of how much they can grow. If you feel the price is right this moment, then sell. For example, Steam Vents from GRN is currently running around $11. It used to be running a little bit higher some months ago, but it's getting soft. The next standard and masters sets are going to be dumping a lot of new cards into the game, so it'll be hard to tell how things are going to play out. However, you can again keep an eye out for cards that are spiking and sell those cards if you have them. You really just need to look at each card that you want to sell and ask yourself if the current price is right to sell at. For shocks, a bad time to sell is around rotation as a lot of them will be getting dumped at that time. Steam Vents will probably hold their value unless Izzet Phoenix gets shat on by wotc. If you have a fetch land like Scalding Tarn, the time to sell was a week or two ago when they were pushing towards $120. They're falling back into the $80s now. That's nearly a $40 difference over the course of a few weeks at most. That's how stupid and volatile magic is right now.

Like the stock market, it's all gambling. The big money is in Alpha and Beta cards. That's where you get silly shit like pic related. That's also where you'll start finding millionaire investors along with lucky cunts who got into magic years ago and have cards that aren't fucked from use. A lot of the stupid shit you see in newer cards is from cryptofags and relative poorfags who are buying into hype in hopes of making some money back by catching cards before they explode in value. That's where buyouts come from as well. I know a number of people who can't afford a car, but pray their non-reserve list magic cards are able to retain their value. I know a lot of people that work at shops and hope their reserve list cards are going to grow in value, so that they can retire as well. It really is just gambling when you think about it and no different than other gambles like the stock market

I had a huge collection of commons and uncommons about 10 years old now and I simply burned most of them. I really didn't give a fuck and I don't now. If it wasn't $10-20 a card I would burn them too but that's enough money I can get some nice models out of it.

I'm not sure if I'm better off using something like Magicmadhouse to sell it all off in bulk or using ebay to sell each card for more value but have a higher cost of postage. My local shop has shut down that I used to play at and I don't feel like jewing people for a few extra bucks.

Please do not actually spend thousands of dollars buying into Legacy. Just use counterfeits.

MTGTheSource is still the best place on the internet for Legacy discussion and decklists, so have a look around there and see if something tickles your fancy. If you like decision trees, then you'll likely be playing blue for cantrips as the other anon mentioned. There are a few options:

>stoneblade

Control deck that wins through Batterskull/Jitte beatdown protected by counterspells and removal. Base UW, but can splash into a third colour for sideboard/fringe cards.

>miracles

Hard control deck that wins through ult-ing Teferi or Jace after grinding the game to a halt through board wipes like Terminus.

>grixis control

More of a midrangey control shell which relies on removal and hand disruption to stop opponents. Wins with whatever it has on the board, which is usually Gurmag Angler or Snapcaster Mage.

>Leovold BUG

Straight midrange, but so many modular cards every game is different, and is often slow enough it needs to play the control game vs many decks. Wins by sticking Leovold into play for multiple turns and burying the opponent in card advantage.

There are also some combo decks you may enjoy, but I'm not sure if that fits your definition of "lots of play." Generally when people say that, they mean being able to switch gears and adapt based on the game state, which Legacy combo decks don't really do.

Forced diversity, shitty plots, bad flavor text, virtue signalling...none of it will kill Magic and its time you stopped believing that it can be killed and just accept that its going to be shit and alive for the rest of your life.

And those who are are more interested in youtube videos and minecraft. Magic has a serious problem with demographics and pissing off it's userbase with tranny shit isn't helping. Magic's economy isn't important, it's WOTC pushing new sets. If they get a successful digital model and the /tg/ market pops like the tech bubble did they will go entirely digital. Thing is, MtG WOULD die at this pace, but Arena is keeping it alive.

If you believe Creepy Rudy, the playerbase is increasing again and heck I believe it.

My nephew started playing because of Arena, my best friend got back into MtG because of a few games of Arena and Pewdiepie reached his normie audience streaming a few couple of not!Hearthstone.

I don't know how long Arena will keep it alive, I do know that their real, core playerbase a.k.a. the fa/tg/uys and older guys with jobs and a life won't keep going to Standard.

Only if Arena would get the full card database to enable Vintage, Modern and EDH.

Arena needs to add other modes like Commander (or rather, Frontier or whatever the fuck they call it when they limit it to current Arena-viable sets) before it can really begin to encroach on MTGO, but its a decent client for sure that greatly appeals to more players. I know I personally dropped all paper magic to play Arena because I am tired of keeping track of both life totals and watching people's hand movements so they don't cheat (if you don't, they will) and my card games of choice are all dead by now. Also I'm already banned from two stores because I performed card tricks to entertain some kids before the tournament and then got accused of cheating later because I can do card tricks...and then the owner talked to another owner and he also banned me for 'cheating'.

If Arena adds in Commander-lite then I'll probably consider throwing more money in because as is its just my alternative to paper cancer. If Arena consumes the paper market entirely and strangles my local stores to death I'm not going to lose sleep over it, fuck them.

You mean the game that I stopped playing because its dead and Cory Jones fucked it? Don't tell people to play Hex if they're going to put money into it, its a dead game walking and any recommendation of it should come with the caveat of not spending money when the servers are going to shut down the second that their contract with Sony is up. Check the forums, discord, subreddit, anything - you'd know that the latest set was delayed (read - cancelled) because Cory shafted the company artists by giving them the cold shoulder when HexEnt was supposed to pay them until they got together and raised a stink (read - threatened legal action as a group) about HexEnt not fulfilling their end of the contract. Couple that with the fact that the game's only news and 'updates' are cycling the same game modes they already made with most of the staff shuffled into a side company...or that they sold the art to some Chinese bitcoin game...or that they STILL haven't paid people their tournament prizes from two years ago when they were still paying cash prizes instead of imaginary Hex Fun Bucks; pick your favorite.

Don't talk to me about Hex.

Don't talk to anyone about Hex.

The only thing I want to hear is that Cory Jones' wife finally decided to kill her husband over rampant infidelity and being unable to satisfy her in the bedroom or that the servers finally shut down so I can put that money pit into my memories where it belongs.

They haven't learned a fucking thing, what they learned is that they just need to blend everything together until its a muddled mess by making everything a colored creature. Every card type in Magic can be a creature with color identity, they've accepted that there isn't space because they smashed all the space together to make room for more fucking beat sticks. Once WoTC pokes their heads out of their asses long enough to see that there are popular control decks that run few to no creatures in standard they will probably ban Teferi and resolve to make the next set Return to Tribal Cardtype.

You're behind then, very behind. Like I said, look around. The game is in statis where it is being held bare minimum alive so that HexEnt doesn't get mega sued by Sony. None of the devs log in or talk about Hex on the forums, on their twitter, etc. and have all moved on meaning only a skeleton crew is keeping the game alive for these purposes. The only moderator left is Dinotropia on the forums and he mostly exists to post an announcement (which might be automated) and occasionally ban people for being mean on the internet. Support tickets are going unanswered, the new set is delayed indefinitely, there is no new content, etc. I don't know how you missed the entire game collapsing but like I said - see for yourself.

As for when it happened, technically years ago when HexEnt went into the red and then spent the next five years lying about it...or when they hired a dev team to make Hex's skeleton that ended up being unusable so they started from scratch...or when WoTC sued them and ate a chunk of their remaining Kickstarter money and forced them to agree to rdiciulous terms like not implementing an extremely profitable format (Commander.) As for when we knew? Active players have known the game was going downhill for a while and we all sold the fuck out before the stores stopped buying and the 40$ card became a nothing card, I sold out a year ago. When did Cory announce they were bankrupt?

Yes and no, they did do an account migration due to German privacy laws and their partnership with Gameforge that required that they could not retain player information records outside of the country or take them from Gameforge so they had to have your information to request your account, specifically, to retrieve it. If you had logged in within the past 12 months prior to the departure, they could request your account because it was an active one without details, everyone else had to give them information to ask Gameforge. This is, theoretically (if you can find the single support worker in a good mood), still possible if you can provide them with transactions you made, your friends list, etc. but it absolutely was a stupid fucking thing to do to the game. Kickstarter backers could use their codes to get their accounts back so that was easier but it made a lot of people log in, realize their account was gone, and immediately freak out which caused the game such an intense black eye that I'd say it was the worst PR move if they didn't launch on Steam half-cocked. This is only the surface level, known to everyone stuff, to boot butt behind the scenes things were even more consistently fucked so baiscally Cory Jones squandered what might be the last chance anyone had to compete with Magic and Hearthstone as a proper digital TCG, be sure to thank him by never buying any of his company's games ever again.

Where does one purchase said chink knock offs?

I recently got back into MTG after a 10~ year hiatus as a game shop opened up down the road. They drew me in with talks of Commander, a fun format that's much more casual and focused around politics and fun decks. So I threw together something out of all my old cards. Went down and got shafted by a 10 year old with a deck that probably cost more than my car. I like the game but refuse to buy individual cards for less than a dollar a go. I also have no moral qualms about buying a piece of cardboard with a picture and some writing on just because it was printed in Antland and not Burgerland.

This is what I was complaining about before. His master plan after all of this is to trap them, using the Immortal Sun, on Ravinca (where he has a disadvantage with all the hostile natives since he is an invader), and use boring blue skeleton minions, From Amonkhet, to steal sparks, brought there with a Planar Bridge, from Kaladesh.

That's it.

It's that simple, and that dumb.

 No.416235

>>416230

I don't think the plan is inherently stupid, since he did have millennia on Amonkhet to train blue skeleton warriors, and Ravnica's enormous population would reasonably mean there are more planeswalker sparks (or potential sparks) compared to a place like Ixalan or Theros, which have large stretches of uninhabited wilderness.

I think what makes the plan feel dumb is all the bad worldbuilding (the Orzhov are canonically destroyed, the Simic are literal reddit memes) and everything being so rushed. MTG's dependance on the 3-set block is what made it successful, and, unsurprisingly, they went back to it for their big not-Thanos showdown (except it isn't called a block, goy, we've outgrown blocks!). Everything on Ravnica feels really drawn out in comparison to the invasion:

>spend two blocks introducing the guilds, even though the entire point of returning here AGAIN is to sell packs based on name value

>there reason you can't do it in one set is because every guild needs to have umpteen corporate-checklist-approved meme cards and awful OCs

>we switch gears from a mystery plot to a cold war to an apocalyptic invasion over the course of three sets

>bolas finally shows up, and the set is an absolute mess

You have a PW focus, Bolas's armies, the cycle of mono-colour mythics (which themselves have a new god recursion mechanic) which the boar and Amonkhet gods belong to, the Amass mechanic, PW support cards, new types of PWs - all of that on top of a huge story about Bolas showing up and killing a bunch of PWs for an ancient magic spell.

Did you notice there are THREE story spotlight arcs in this set due to all the useless characters and bloat? Just look at >>416179. It's preposterous.

I like the idea of having an actual pay off for all the background Bolas machinations but this feels rushed and stupid, the idea that the big bad dragon lad only has one planes worth of soldiers to deploy is absurd on its face considering how long he's been around and the fact that he would risk using a beacon that will draw people like Ugin, Sorin, Nahiri, etc. right into him is an equally bad idea considering he doesn't have any sane reason to believe the people who locked away the Eldrazi can't do the same or worse to him. Honestly my hope is that they use this to kill off all of the planeswalkers (I really doubt it) save the new crew and a few stragglers and then start a big push with a new core set to return to the flavor concept that you, the player, are a planeswalker. Like, a big influx of new walkers but with cards that mess with the player's space like experience counters to help drive it home. I think people would eat that shit up if they did it right but that would be a bit too different for modern MTG and I doubt they'll rock the boat on their sure thing.

He took over amonkhet recently. The story arc there gives a few hints at that, like how young everyone there is, including the leadership, and how the Bolas carvings and monuments look newer (and samut or some other dumb fuck found evidence of times before Bolas was God-Pharoah). He killed the adults, brainwashed the kids and the gods watching over them, made his death cult, and came back after a short time to collect the zombies.

The reason he targeted amonkhet specifically was the lazotep since it could be used to get being across the blind eternities or something like that, but he also for the Planar Bridge...but none of these things existed for millennia other than the planes themselves and the Immortal Sun.

As for how they defeat him, looks like it is related to Liliana, Stronk Wymyn, breaking his Gem between his head, and trapping him for eternity, probably related in his meditation realm.

We should also keep track of who we know dies off to see how little the impact was. Well, also they fucked Ravnica to death. It’s no longer what it was after this set.

The first sentence in the current text is actually fine, because it's mean to be somewhat satirical. The second part could just read "not today," though, and it would be fine. Yours is more brief, but it lacks context. Things like pic 2 are the real offenders: wordy, purple prose that says nothing and contains no joke. There is no humour or wit here, just wordswordswords.

Pic 3 is a rare example of good flavour text from nu-MTG: it's short, snappy, and dramatic without being overbearing. Don't know how it snuck through without being assaulted by a thesaurus.

It would be a better card if it gave you hexproof. If it protected itself from non-combat damage, it would be pretty good. I don't blame anyone for missing this, but there's a new signature spellbook being printed. It features everyone's favourite white vaguely Grecian mutt Gideon. What I find really funny is the original art for Gideon Jura, which clearly shows him as a European white man, compared to all the new art where he looks like a baboon.

Getting Richard Kane Ferguson to do art for Blackblade Reforged was neat, I guess, but the rest all look awful. Rest in Peace in particular is such shameless CG garbage (to say nothing of the Jacetice League flavour text) that what should be a contemplative, friendly piece looks sterile and barren.

I had some cards laying around, but I'm stuck with the card draw.

I'm pretty late-game, with a focus on early game beaters and Canopy Cover and Treetop Bracers to give them evasion.

I just can't decide for the card draw.

Should I use Harmonize? 4 CMC for 3 cards isn't bad.

I was considering Shefet Monitor for its cycling ability and Triumph of Ferocity but the latter one isn't as consistent.

>canopy cover

>treetop bracers

Most of your threads have evasion, so I'd cut the Treetop Bracers and just play more giant beaters instead; Canopy Cover is fine, since it gives your creatures hexproof and can be attached to opponents' creatures to prevent them from being targeted by their controllers.

For ramp, you should at least be maxed out on Cultivates, although if you're playing Ghalta, then having a mana dork with some power and toughness is also a consideration.

>benefaction

>harmonize

4 harmonize seems excessive, especially because Vizier is already pseudo card advantage. I think playing 3-4 of these effects is fine, and if you drop the enchantments then Benefaction becomes less efficient than something like Commune with Nature.

>I'm trying to build a fun mono-green stompy deck for Modern events at my LGS.

Maybe read the original post next time?

Not saying you can't bring your own deck to a local modern event, just that you should probably keep the format in mind when building said deck. He wants to build an aggressive stompy deck, and in such a deck you'd probably be better off dropping constant threats than drawing, especially in modern where games tend not to drag on.

>>416955

Liquimetal is completely different from what he said he wanted to play, that's a control deck. It is a good example of a deck that can make use of a raw value card such as harmonize though.

>>416962

Yeah just looking at this deck, I really don't see why you would care about drawing. Either you are ahead and winning, or you are behind and losing. So the draw is either win more, or doesn't accomplish much since your opponent will kill you before the threats you play after drawing connect.

Maybe run more ramp cards like cultivate, since this allows you to do something you want to do (ramp) while netting a value aspect of pulling lands out of the deck.

Only Steel Leaf Champion has a form of evasion, the rest doesn't.

>Either you are ahead and winning, or you are behind and losing.

That was my first worry for the card draw.

I'll scrap it entirely I think.

So far I removed the Harmonize, maxed the Cultivate and filled the remaining two slots with Shefet Monitor because of the cycling effect and I like the art, and lizards too.

A last question since it keeps bothering me: what's the consensus of the amount of legendary creatures in a deck?

Max two copies of each because of the legend rule, or are more feasible?

If the legendary is core to your deck, you run 4 of. In your case, neither seems core. Something I also noticed is that Goreclaws cost reduction doesn't do much for your deck, since Gigantosaurus and Steel don't have colorless, and Vizier doesn't have 4 attack. It does give trample to Gigantosaurus, but I feel like that is unnecessary with the enchantments making it unblockable (optimally anyway).

>Evasion

I think he considered trample to be an evasive aspect as well. It makes it unnecessary to enchant ghalta at least, since he connects with most of his damage via trample.

Well, he's kind of right.

I got some Alpha Authority laying around too, could use those to replace the Treetop Bracers since it adds menace and hexproof.

I am completely right. Trample creatures are almost never blocked unless it's a lethal attack. Goreclaw gives herself trample as a minimum, too, so the only non-evasive creature is Gigantosaurus.

>>416968

>Any other good green enchantments I could use instead of Treetop Bracers?

Rancor. Alpha Authority is also a good one.

>legendary creatures

Depends entirely upon the deck. I think you're fine with 2 copies of Ghalta, since he's tricky to cast and potentially uncastable. I wouldn't play more than 3 Goreclaw, since as the other anon mentioned, all she really does is attack and give Gigantosaurus trample.

Unless you're comparing it to the same thing, that doesn't mean anything. WotC's printing quality is so shoddy and volatile that the reds on a Kaladesh card could easily be a naturally lighter shade by virtue of using worse ink/card stock. I used to use a playset of Spell Queller in a Modern deck, and despite all four of them being legitimate and printed in the same region, one of the cards was a bright urine yellow instead of the multicolour gold.

Heck, when I played Legacy reanimator with counterfeits, one of the worst-looking cards in the deck was a genuine Animate Dead from 7th edition. The back had a pale green tint; I would have never believed it to be real unless I knew for certain.

Hey guys, i got a leak of a card for the next set after war of the spark. This looks totally fair and balanced.

Cost: U

Common

Instant

Splitsecond

As an additional cost, you may untap one land you control. You may pay this additional cost before paying its mana cost.

You can have any number of copies of this card in your library.

Choose one or more of the following:

-Counter target spell.

-Draw 2 cards.

-Take an extra turn after this one.

-Return all permanents you don't control to your hand.

-Destroy all white permanents.

-Each planeswalker you control gains 20 loyalty counters.

-Put a 50/50 blue Jace legendary creature token with flying, lifelink, deathtouch, indestructable, unblockable, hexproof, trample, and "whenever this creautre enters the battlefield under your control, you may make a creature token that is a copy of this creature. It is not legendary."

-Untap any number of lands you control at the next upkeep phase.

-Tap all permanents you don't control. They do not untap.

-Exile each other player's library.

-Search your library for a card and exile it. As long as it remains exiled, you may play it without paying its mana cost.

-Target card you don't own, if it's owner is a straight white male, you now own the card.

If you play this card against a minority and you're a straight white male, you lose the game.

I think Delver would be fine if it were a 2/2, but the magic kike can never give a straight answer and admit partial flaws (that is, the hoop to jump through was too easy given its strength, and the back half should be weaker to account for this). The devs have admitted repeatedly that they made it a common because they were fixated upon its place in Innistrad limited rather than non-rotating or constructed formats.

My only issue with it is the 1 extra mana that it requires. It means that drakes will have to be held off for two turns before u/r can start putting pressure. It is nice that it gives the player hex proof though. It's going to help shit on aggro decks. Contentious Plan could also replace Chart a Course, but it was nice to swing in with a pteramander on turn two and then draw two. Crush Dissent is a fucking terrible replacement for Spell Pierce. Bolt Bend might be a nice way to steal an opponent's tempo once drakes start dropping.

I'm already splashing a bit of black for Discovery/Dispersal. I'm curious if I should splash more to get access to Ob's -5/-5. Elderspell will shit on planeswalkers, so that may be good for the side deck. Toll of the Invasion would be nice if it exiled. Jiang is an interesting planeswalker as he can essentially turn all of your tokens into mana dorks if you can get some counters on them. Storm the citadel would be better at instant speed. The new Teferi is pretty dirty. Giving sorceries flash could get pretty gross. Prison Decks might enter standard. Dreadhorde Butcher could be an awesome card. b/r aggro is going to love it if he gets out early. He could possibly end a game if he doesn't get answered in time. The more times he connects, the stronger he gets and then he can deal his power in damage to any target. If Judith shows up before he dies, that's even more damage that he puts out.

The shitstorm that came from this is fantastic. I bought two and it looks like they’re coming through, but nothing is set in stone until I physically have them There were a ton of fuck-ups with the entire first wave getting cancelled and the following waves got a bit better. Luckily, some friends got their orders cancelled early or else I wouldn’t have bothered to check mine until it would have been too late Assuming they settle at $500, players who got in will have essentially gotten the set for free if they purchased at least two and sold the extra

I haven't been paying attention to it because it's all so tiring. Got any highlights, or a brief tl;dr? I know you can buy a special product via Hasbro's online store and get a bunch of expensive promo planeswalkers with a slightly smaller box of boosters, but that's it.

The best place to mine salt is on the mtg reddit page and mtgfinance.

I'll give a tl;dr as best as I can.

The new mythic edition went on sale at 3pm PST. It literally sold it in like 5 minutes. It was insane. Hasbro forgot to add sales tax, so the entire 1st wave who had shipments to states that required sales tax got their orders cancelled. There were like 3 or 4 waves where the orders that got cancelled got put back up, but it was common to go to buy and get a notice saying that wotc didn't have the goods available. There was recently a twitter from wotc where it confirmed that there were only 12,000 units to be sold and that any number sold after that will be cancelled and refunded. The issue is that the counter was never reset, so it ended up counting the cancelled orders from first wave on. This means that just because you got a confirmation email/feedback/whatever, your order can still be cancelled and there's jack shit you can do about it. Keep in mind that a bunch of kikes were trying to flip this shit on eBay a day prior to release and before the product has even shipped. This means that the whole fiasco has turned into a complete shit-show. Wotc can't and won't print more, so now everyone who has an order will be on edge until they physically arrive.

The entire thing has been a huge shitshow and I would laugh if this finally causes newfags to fuck off from magic.

The really funny part is that this is going to be forgotten by the time Modern Masters drops. A lot of these people are completely addicted to the game and can't stop. I once met some guy at a lgs, when I first started really playing magic and that's when I was introduced to someone with paper addiction. He didn't care what cards he got in booster packs, but only that he was opening up booster packs. I have a friend, who has the same addiction. He wants to build a standard deck, but only wants to get the cards from boosters. It doesn't make any logical sense.

Female warriors and black protagonists aren't inherently SJW, problem is is that they're forcing them in everywhere now.

They stated somewhere that they'd be (((diversifying))) the cards by printing a 50/50 ratio of males and females and around a 50/50 ratio of blacks and whites.

Do also expect even more shitty forced story with token cards like Kaya and every other while male to be a faggot.

I unsubbed from The professor few years ago already.

He tends to criticize WotC for this bullcrap and yeah his product reviews are amazing but he's still pandering to thots when they get shat on.

Bloody hell that guy is married yet did not see a single fault on why that cosplayer girl actually got shat on.

>>417643

>He didn't care what cards he got in booster packs, but only that he was opening up booster packs.

It's essentially the same addiction/thrill you get from gambling.

>I have a friend, who has the same addiction. He wants to build a standard deck, but only wants to get the cards from boosters. It doesn't make any logical sense.

That's not an addiction that's just being plain stupid.

I got a friend who's exactly the same calling me pay2win when I make a casual Modern deck where I bought half the cards online for under €15 only because I didn't get them from opening boosters.

I'm trying to get out the "good goy" in him so that he finally starts buying his cards in the cheap.

Theros was notable for having faggots and niggers everywhere, but Tarkir was pretty straightforward. Magic Origins had tonnes of reprints, so that mitigated the poz somewhat; I'd say Battle for Zendikar was when all of this trash started being kicked into overdrive, although even then the presence of the Eldrazi meant that the poz took a back seat.

I think Shadows Over Innistrad was when we first got a set that really focused on poz as much as possible.

>majority of white characters are women, even if it makes no sense in a setting inspired by historical Germanic nations

>tonnes of black, Arabic, and Asian characters in this Germanic setting

>the church is ebil, you guise!!!

>canonical dykes

>card quality is awful

>art replaced by 3D garbage, especially the Eldrazi

Perhaps most importantly, the established lore of Innistrad was shunted aside in favour of their new trash. We'd reach peak revisionism with Dominaria, but SOI was the first red flag.

>>417641

>They'll get sued. The same thing would happen if they ever reprinted rl cards

To be strict, there isn't much legal ground for people to sue WotC over promissory estoppel. http://web.archive.org/web/20190412164419/https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/contract-from-below-promissory-estoppel-and-the-reserved-list

There was a big story in 2018 which concerned a couple of collectors who were moving cards worth about $70,000, one of whom cancelled his sell offer because the market changed and he wanted a better deal elsewhere, but I'm not sure if that case would be enough to set a legal precedent for cards explicitly being worth money.

It's just the broader normal cattle mindset. I've been into this game casually for ~4 years because a college friend got me into it. I've barely bothered with events, I usually just played with him. I thought maybe I'd try and start going to local modern events this summer, but that seems less likely now after I went to a war pre release with him.

The average normie entrenched in this game is just anathema to me. The way they casually talk about blowing hundreds on boxes every set, and supporting the sheer kikery of this timmy edition crap. They're not necessarily bad people either, they just got too into the bread and circus games to think critically. It's sad really.

Of the mythic edition planeswalkers, 3 of them are currently going for over $200 each. Jace alone can pay for the set. They will never be $300 unless magic as a whole tanks in value. Unless we get another shit mythic edition set like the previous one, I could see them putting LotV into the next mythic edition. That Jace is easily one of the most expensive planeswalkers in magic, so good Lily being in the next set would make sense and it would cause a similar reaction. It may even cause a bigger reaction, because she's the waifu for a lot of magic playersShe's a slut though

On a separate note, there is a new wave of cancellations going on right now. Ebay stated that they oversold the set last night and now people who had confirmation orders are getting cancellation emails and refunds. A lot of people aren't being refunded their shipping, so this whole shitshow is about to be taken to the next level. I'll post pictures as I collect them.
