Because WotC is a joke.

The best TCG of all time is run by the worst company its fanbase could ever have.

WotC is to MtG what Avicii was to Coldplay, what pope Francis is to the Catholic Church, what Merkel is to Germany.

>Mythic Timmy editions part 3

The shitstorm that came from this is fantastic. I bought two and it looks like they’re coming through, but nothing is set in stone until I physically have them There were a ton of fuck-ups with the entire first wave getting cancelled and the following waves got a bit better. Luckily, some friends got their orders cancelled early or else I wouldn’t have bothered to check mine until it would have been too late Assuming they settle at $500, players who got in will have essentially gotten the set for free if they purchased at least two and sold the extra

I haven't been paying attention to it because it's all so tiring. Got any highlights, or a brief tl;dr? I know you can buy a special product via Hasbro's online store and get a bunch of expensive promo planeswalkers with a slightly smaller box of boosters, but that's it.

I know Magic has had a lot of SJWy stuff in it before (female warriors, black protagonists, etc), but when did WotC really start to double down on it all? What set had

>A ton of females in art

>A ton of black characters (may overlap with the above)

>White people being villains

>Card quality dropping the most

New cards just don't feel collectable. The quality is shit. The flavor is shit. The power level is laughable.

The best place to mine salt is on the mtg reddit page and mtgfinance.

I'll give a tl;dr as best as I can.

The new mythic edition went on sale at 3pm PST. It literally sold it in like 5 minutes. It was insane. Hasbro forgot to add sales tax, so the entire 1st wave who had shipments to states that required sales tax got their orders cancelled. There were like 3 or 4 waves where the orders that got cancelled got put back up, but it was common to go to buy and get a notice saying that wotc didn't have the goods available. There was recently a twitter from wotc where it confirmed that there were only 12,000 units to be sold and that any number sold after that will be cancelled and refunded. The issue is that the counter was never reset, so it ended up counting the cancelled orders from first wave on. This means that just because you got a confirmation email/feedback/whatever, your order can still be cancelled and there's jack shit you can do about it. Keep in mind that a bunch of kikes were trying to flip this shit on eBay a day prior to release and before the product has even shipped. This means that the whole fiasco has turned into a complete shit-show. Wotc can't and won't print more, so now everyone who has an order will be on edge until they physically arrive.

The entire thing has been a huge shitshow and I would laugh if this finally causes newfags to fuck off from magic.

Magic investors are batshit crazy in general. I have no doubt that many of them would literally kill to get those boxes. Rudy apparently got some info that the set was printing more than the 12,000 originally given. The fuck-up that was the current mythic launch didn't help either. It seems like he's no longer going to be covering mythic releases now. It's unfortunate, because he's at least interesting. The really funny part is that this is going to be forgotten by the time Modern Masters drops. A lot of these people are completely addicted to the game and can't stop. I once met some guy at a lgs, when I first started really playing magic and that's when I was introduced to someone with paper addiction. He didn't care what cards he got in booster packs, but only that he was opening up booster packs. I have a friend, who has the same addiction. He wants to build a standard deck, but only wants to get the cards from boosters. It doesn't make any logical sense.

Female warriors and black protagonists aren't inherently SJW, problem is is that they're forcing them in everywhere now.

They stated somewhere that they'd be (((diversifying))) the cards by printing a 50/50 ratio of males and females and around a 50/50 ratio of blacks and whites.

Do also expect even more shitty forced story with token cards like Kaya and every other while male to be a faggot.

>>417641

>The professor has been quiet, so I wonder what he thinks of this whole mess?

I unsubbed from The professor few years ago already.

He tends to criticize WotC for this bullcrap and yeah his product reviews are amazing but he's still pandering to thots when they get shat on.

Bloody hell that guy is married yet did not see a single fault on why that cosplayer girl actually got shat on.

>>417643

>He didn't care what cards he got in booster packs, but only that he was opening up booster packs.

It's essentially the same addiction/thrill you get from gambling.

>I have a friend, who has the same addiction. He wants to build a standard deck, but only wants to get the cards from boosters. It doesn't make any logical sense.

That's not an addiction that's just being plain stupid.

I got a friend who's exactly the same calling me pay2win when I make a casual Modern deck where I bought half the cards online for under €15 only because I didn't get them from opening boosters.

I'm trying to get out the "good goy" in him so that he finally starts buying his cards in the cheap.

Theros was notable for having faggots and niggers everywhere, but Tarkir was pretty straightforward. Magic Origins had tonnes of reprints, so that mitigated the poz somewhat; I'd say Battle for Zendikar was when all of this trash started being kicked into overdrive, although even then the presence of the Eldrazi meant that the poz took a back seat.

I think Shadows Over Innistrad was when we first got a set that really focused on poz as much as possible.

>majority of white characters are women, even if it makes no sense in a setting inspired by historical Germanic nations

>tonnes of black, Arabic, and Asian characters in this Germanic setting

>the church is ebil, you guise!!!

>canonical dykes

>card quality is awful

>art replaced by 3D garbage, especially the Eldrazi

Perhaps most importantly, the established lore of Innistrad was shunted aside in favour of their new trash. We'd reach peak revisionism with Dominaria, but SOI was the first red flag.

>>417641

>They'll get sued. The same thing would happen if they ever reprinted rl cards

To be strict, there isn't much legal ground for people to sue WotC over promissory estoppel. http://web.archive.org/web/20190412164419/https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/contract-from-below-promissory-estoppel-and-the-reserved-list

There was a big story in 2018 which concerned a couple of collectors who were moving cards worth about $70,000, one of whom cancelled his sell offer because the market changed and he wanted a better deal elsewhere, but I'm not sure if that case would be enough to set a legal precedent for cards explicitly being worth money.

It's just the broader normal cattle mindset. I've been into this game casually for ~4 years because a college friend got me into it. I've barely bothered with events, I usually just played with him. I thought maybe I'd try and start going to local modern events this summer, but that seems less likely now after I went to a war pre release with him.

The average normie entrenched in this game is just anathema to me. The way they casually talk about blowing hundreds on boxes every set, and supporting the sheer kikery of this timmy edition crap. They're not necessarily bad people either, they just got too into the bread and circus games to think critically. It's sad really.

I’d say a majority of the people who bought the latest mythic Timmy boxes were looking to sell them. With how expensive certain cards are, it was largely seen as free money. People will pay $500 for a single box too, when the cards inside are worth $600 at the least.

Of the mythic edition planeswalkers, 3 of them are currently going for over $200 each. Jace alone can pay for the set. They will never be $300 unless magic as a whole tanks in value. Unless we get another shit mythic edition set like the previous one, I could see them putting LotV into the next mythic edition. That Jace is easily one of the most expensive planeswalkers in magic, so good Lily being in the next set would make sense and it would cause a similar reaction. It may even cause a bigger reaction, because she's the waifu for a lot of magic playersShe's a slut though

On a separate note, there is a new wave of cancellations going on right now. Ebay stated that they oversold the set last night and now people who had confirmation orders are getting cancellation emails and refunds. A lot of people aren't being refunded their shipping, so this whole shitshow is about to be taken to the next level. I'll post pictures as I collect them.
