Critsandvich is pretty nice, has multiple servers. Good regulars and map variety but has random crits. 24 player limit.

There's also fucked in the head's servers. No random crits, higher skilled regulars. Does have the downside of 32 player limit at peak times and if you curse in chat/voice a mod might scold you.

Before you have an aneurysm try this tactic.

1. Turn off flames (viewmodel_fov 0.1)

2. Degreaser/shotgun/powerjack

3. Get behind and just flame people

4. Try to stay at the max flame range and lead players into your fire. Circle strafe.

Think of the shotgun as added dps and not your primary means of doing damage like before. Flamethrower DPS is really good now at range.

Degreaser is not nerfed in my opinion, it's just shit and pointless. The trade-off between swap speed and damage reduction was what made it fun. There was strategy involved. After they added the airblast stun it took the fun out of airblasting people, and puff-sting combos with the flare gun or axtinguisher were never fun, but it was nice to be able to swap quickly to the homewrecker to take off sappers and get a quick flare in on a retreating person who tried to ambush you.

Sneaking, strafing, reflecting, killing anyone who tries to run, spreading panic. That's what's unique and fun about pyro. Yes, I could get much better results if I switched to boring, gimmicky close-range shotgun blasts or airblast stun combos or just use the backburner or the phlog, but if I wanted to just be a faggot about TF2 I'd go sniper full time and quickscope anything under the sun because TF2 sniping is ezmode. Or just be that retarded trickstabbing spy.

This is basically as bad as phlog pyros and the reason I want nothing to do with competitive. May as well just take out the other classes and do autistic soldier matches with lots of shotgun blasts and rocket jumping over and over and over (which is extremely popular in comp, actually) if you're not going to play a class emphasizing its class features.

Circle-strafing with degreaser was fine with less damage because it was a challenge, it made you think and didn't reward w+m1 or indiscriminately approaching enemies. Now it's just stock with faster switch for more autismblasts from shotgun or more shitty airblast-sting combos with stunlock, and full damage, but it rewards people ambushing pyros because lolnerfedafterburn and demoknights can go full retard and shake off afterburn entirely. Without the degreaser, with the phlog even more buffed and still with that stupid taunt-for-crit, pyro is now designed entirely for w+m1 and spamming bullshit combos, just a short-range heavy. Now babbies crying about W+M1 actually have a point.

OP how are you struggling vs Direct Hits? It's like a godsend as scout to realize a soldier is using Direct Hit. lrn2strafe and remember you have double jump. If you want some perspective, try fighting direct hits up close with a pyro or heavy, go back to scoot and it will seem ez.

Also if you're struggling with meatshots just be a scrub and use the FaN, at this point no one will even blame you with all of the other BS out there weapons-wise.

High fps is key to aiming. Also play DM.

Change your connection settings. There are lots of guides out there to help you do this.

Fiddle with your settings until you're getting at least 30 FPS at all times. Any less and your aim will be affected.

Check your mouse settings. You're best off using raw input and no acceleration. As for the sensitivity, that's personal preference.

In combat, never hold down the fire button. Press it once every time you want to fire.

For fighting direct hit soldiers, you have two options.

A: fight them like they're using hitscan and get as close as possible. This doesn't work well on skilled soldiers, but throws off most people.

B: keep enough distance that you can dodge every rocket.

Back when I was new demo was my secondary class, I started out busting nests and went full faggot with the stickies. Also pipes are so fucking easy to land up close.

Anyways, I hadn't played demo at all for like a year, I was on one of those stupid new Halloween maps where you get camped by Monoculus and Horseman at once so you can't fight each other, and some dipshit was stickyspamming and blowing everyone the fuck out, couldn't counter well with soldier due to the map not being that open and me being shit at soldier, so I went demo myself and started laying down the stickies. What a rush.

It's like no one can touch you until you completely fuck up. Overwhelmed? click two or three times while strafing and aiming decently, then drop behind something and right click. Now just check if you got 2 kills or 4. Why hasn't it been nerfed?

Yeah it'll be community map pl_spookrush, just goldrush with pumpkin bombs and dying just makes you a ghost so you can respawn by touching the cart. Also more furry cosmetic items, mostly for sniper and demo. Also the cart is actually Ms. Pauling floating riding on a floating pile of skulls and grimdark. Also there will be peepholes cut in walls to allow quick deployment of cheap snipers and mini sentries.
