Depends. If we stay in iron I'll start looking for a steel team since I can pretty easily outDM practically every other pyro I've played against in Iron. Also the spies are pretty bad.

I'm pretty sure minis were basically made to fuck with dickass scouts who just abuse the FaN and speed to fuck around forever. Minis really aren't that bad as pyro, you just have to have good timing and situational awareness.

Playing engineer on koth and ctf is simpler because no part of the map becomes irrelevant due to capture progress. That's why that class is so annoying in those maps: no downtime while movin' that gear up.

Sniper has 3 unique taunts. Heavy still has 0.

Although, heavy exclusive taunts are pretty slim pickings in the workshop. This one's my favorite.

Get to about 500h, to get a sense of the game and then get into advanced stuff.

All you can do now is play pubs and maybe do some jump maps for rocket jumping.

KND(and friends) like to pub on skial servers. (mostly badwater and upward?) Those servers have instant respawn on too, so if you die you'll be back in the game in a heartbeat.

Just play on valve servers and skial servers if you want, I like tf2app servers, as well.

Once you have around 500~ hours or so, and do your research you should be good enough to scout/solly in hl tf2center lobbies.

Valve servers are fine, there's enough potatoes to keep the skill floor low with the occasional vet here and there to push your shit in. Learn medic first then soldier or scout whichever you're more comfortable with.

This. Valve servers are honestly very good. You will spend a lot of time dying before you get very good at effectively killing. Playing as every class at least a bit is important as you get used to their health pool and speed natively and know how to react to them.

Also, turn on the thing that makes a dinging sound and shows you the numbers for the damage you deal in options, or advanced options, or whatever. Otherwise it can be confusing as your client will sometimes play physics hit sounds, even with melee, when you in fact hit nothing according to the server.

Playing as classes and dying to classes will teach you how they work and what methods and strategies they use. Feel free to test out new weapons you get from achievements or random drops, but remember not to get caught up in using crutches like the black box or the backburner/phlog. It will hurt your playstyle long term.

And you will die pointlessly a LOT. It will keep happening no matter how good you get, just less often as you improve and get familiar with the maps. Don't be afraid to explore the maps a little, there's usually at least one sort of hidden passage somewhere.
