White House blasts clearance probe as 'dangerous,' 'shameful'
President Trump’s top spokesperson on Tuesday called House Democrats’ efforts to investigate the White House’s security clearance process “dangerous” and “shameful,” saying it could put millions of people’s personal data at risk.
“What the Democrats are doing is playing a very dangerous and a shameful game, frankly,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters. “They’re putting the 3 million people that do have a security clearance at risk. If you [pull] one individual, you’re putting all 3 million people’s personal information at risk.”
Sanders did not explain how the Democrats’ investigation would potentially jeopardize the broad swath of government employees and contractors’ data.
Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform are examining how top White House officials, such as the president's son-in-law and daughter, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, were approved for clearances despite objections from career security officials.
New allegations from a White House whistleblower were made public on Monday, engulfing the Trump administration in a new round of controversy over whether clearances have become politicized.
The whistleblower told the committee the White House intervened to give high-level clearances to 25 people who had previously been denied them.
Sanders said the White House has “cooperated” with the Oversight panel throughout the process by giving them information on the general clearance process, but Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) has said the White House has blocked requests for information on clearances for specific individuals.

Moreover, the legislation would provide funding to rebuild military bases in Florida and North Carolina that were destroyed during the hurricanes. The bill ultimately failed to advance in the Senate after it was voted down by 44 to 49. It would have provided $610 million in nutrition assistance to Puerto Rico, however, Senate Democrats reportedly voted against the bill claiming the island needed more disaster funding.
Feinstein has been an outspoken advocate for funding California’s wildfire recovery effort. The California senator called for more than $9 billion in federal funding in November after wildfires raged across the state causing billions worth of damage. Feinstein’s office did not reply to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Getting through to people
Delegates at the PRCA conference were told that people are just as likely to trust and listen to a 'person like themselves' as they are a health expert, which is why micro-influencers can wield a lot of influence.
Fake news often preys on emotions like fear, disgust or surprise to generate a reaction from people. But it can be combated with accurate stories told with empathy and backed up with facts.
Stories told through people with first-hand experience of an illness or condition are always more authentic and credible, delegates heard.
The audience was advised that simple techniques such as using expert quotes that provide more emotion and colour, and using first-hand accounts, can help make a healthcare story more engaging.

Trump Compares Democrats To Central America: ‘Taking US Money For Years, And Doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING’
President Donald Trump compared Mexican and Central American governments to Democrats working in Washington, D.C., in a tweet Tuesday morning.
“After many years (decades), Mexico is apprehending large numbers of people at their Southern Border, mostly from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. They have ALL been taking U.S. money for years, and doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for us, just like the Democrats in Congress!” the president tweeted. A record amount of apprehensions took place in March, with Customs and Border Protection catching or stopping 3,974 illegal migrants on March 19, the highest number since Trump entered office. Nearly 100,000 apprehensions are estimated to have taken place in March, which would be the highest in over a decade.
Most of these illegal migrants hail from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, making the situation more difficult for law enforcement officials. These immigrants cannot be quickly deported because they are from noncontiguous countries — countries other than Mexico or Canada. The situation has left overwhelmed detainment centers stretched thin and forced to release illegal migrants by the thousands.
The Trump administration has pushed numerous measures in an effort to alleviate the situation. Beyond asking for billions more in funding for wall construction, the Trump administration is attempting to punish these Central American countries by withholding millions in financial aid and asking Congress to pass legislative fixes to immigration laws. All of these measures have been met with pushback from Democrats, earning ire from the Oval Office. Trump, later on Tuesday, quoted the vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, who has been extremely critical of the Democratic Party.

History, in and of itself, is wrong. However, it’s not that it is all wrong, but that parts of it are wrong because of blatant lies/disinformation and or non-disclosure of information. So with that we have to start on a time-line.
The initial invasion of Okinawa [L Day] on April 1 which was both Easter Sunday and April Fools' Day in 1945, was the largest amphibious assault [Operation Iceberg] in the Pacific Theater of World War II.The 82-day battle lasted from April 1 until June 22, 1945. As early as April 1952, CAT had received the right to operate to and from and within the Ryukyu Islands, but had limited itself to the route to Japan. As to domestic traffic within the islands, a group of Ryukyu businessmen organized a company known as “Ryukyu Airways” in 1956
In 1963, the U.S. High Commissioner, Gen. Paul Carroway, ordered new airports to be built on 3 islands – Kumejima, Yonaguni, and Minami Daito – to improve business on the islands. Quite early, Japan Air Lines stepped forward, proposing to operate the inter-island service to be opened in 1964, but because of the military and CIA installations on Okinawa, the U.S. High Commissioner preferred an American company to operate the service. As no US airline was interested and as CATCL was a Chinese company, at the end Air America was given the job, although opposition from the business companies working on the Ryukyu Islands was to be expected. In July 57, CAT’s new contract was no longer with the subordinate US Army’s First Composite Service Unit (FCSU), but with the higher US Army’s Composite Service Group (CSG). The US Army’s Composite Service Group (CSG) was based at Camp Chinen on Okinawa, and that was exactly the place, where the CIA had their main support base: As General Lansdale puts it: “CIA: 1). Okinawa-Support Base Okinawa Station is in itself a paramilitary support asset and, in critical situations calling for extensive support of UW [= unconventional warfare] activity in the Far East, could be devoted in its entirety to this mission. Located at Camp Chinen, it comprises a self-contained base under Army cover with facilities of all types necessary to the storage, testing, packaging, procurement and delivery of supplies-ranging from weapons and explosives to medical and clothing. Because of its being a controlled area, it can accommodate admirably the holding of black bodies in singletons or small groups, as well as small groups of trainees….” Indeed, CSG was nothing else but the cover for this CIA base. This was the CIA’s main logistics base in East Asia, code-named ZRBLUSH. Effective October 57, a new flight schedule was established for CAT’s flights for the CIA, and under the new schedule, the aircraft were not to come to Tachikawa any longer. So the flights operated by CAT Inc and later by Air America under this contract with the CSG, Okinawa, were no longer dealt with in the Company’s Tachikawa Station Monthly Reports. In the late fifties, CAT’s US-registered C-54 N2168 was assigned to the CSG and based at Okinawa. Under the CSG-contract, CAT’s C-54 N2168 performed logistical support and moved personnel from CIA units in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Okinawa, the Philippines, Saipan, South Vietnam and other South East Asian countries on a scheduled and emergency basis. Also under this contract, a CAT C-46 provided parachute training on Saipan. On the Japan-Okinawa-Iwakuni-Guam route, CAT had to use a navigator. Kadena, Okinawa, home of Detachment 2, 1045th Operational Evaluation & Training Group, reporting directly to CIA headquarters, was also the place where the surviving CIA B-26s that had returned from Indonesia to Tainan in May 58, were ferried in the summer months of 1958 and where they received new fake serials: On 31 July 58, Connie Seigrist ferried an unknown B-26 from Tainan to Kadena, on 12 August 58 he ferried B-26A “3522” (believed to be 44-35221), and on 23 August 58 it was B-26 “3524” (believed to be 44- 35242). At least some of the first four B-26s to arrive at Tainan in 1959 – that is “8264”, “8765”, “8248”, and “8188”33 – were survivors from Indonesia that had received new serials at Kadena, Okinawa. Probably as early as 1959, Kadena Station became the official “Air America Inc., Field Executive Office, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, APO U.S. Forces 96239”. That is also the address, where, from November 1967 to the end of 1972, the Air America Log was officially published (later officially at Bangkok), although from the Flight Operations Circular of 1 April 73, we know that the Company’s DPRA (Director of Public Relations Advertising) had his office at Taipei.34 That is what the editor – George L. Hannity has a long record of pushing conspiracy theories and misinformation, and for the last two years his show has revolved around the baseless notion that Mueller's probe was the result of a "deep state" conspiracy to remove Trump from office. And last week, the account posting as “Q” twice urged its followers to tune in to Hannity’s shows. On the March 25 edition, Hannity repeated his regular attacks on the “deep state,” which fit similar narratives as those posited by the QAnon conspiracy theory: There’s a corrupt, criminal “deep state” hellbent on ousting the president, but that Trump is outsmarting its members.

Testimony Reveals FBI Official in Charge of Clinton, Trump Probes Was Excluded From Key Meetings, Decisions
Closed-door testimony by former head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap reveals handpicked group ran the investigations outside of his control
Bill Priestap, the high-ranking FBI official responsible for overseeing both the Clinton email investigation and the agency’s counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign, appears to have not really been in control of his own investigations.
In closed-door testimony before congressional lawmakers in June last year, Priestap, who served as the head of the FBI’s counterintelligence division, acknowledged it was mostly FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI analyst Jonathan Moffa who were “driving the train.”
Talking to lawmakers, Priestap described the unusual circumstances under which he inherited the team in January 2016, saying the members had been previously handpicked by an unknown high-ranking official at the FBI.
In his June 5, 2018, testimony—a transcript of which was reviewed for this article—Priestap appears to have been unaware of key meetings that took place between Strzok and the second-highest ranking official at the FBI, Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
Priestap’s congressional interview was conducted in an unclassified setting, with the appropriate agency counsel present to ensure that classified information didn’t enter into the unclassified setting.
When questioned about text messages sent between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page that showed a strong bias in favor of Hillary Clinton and against Donald Trump, Priestap told lawmakers “it wasn’t the Pete Strzok that I know.”
Priestap also said he was unaware of a meeting Strzok had with McCabe and Page—who served as counsel to McCabe—that was described in the now-infamous “insurance policy” text message.
“Somebody talking about an insurance policy, I would have asked, ‘What the heck do you mean by that?’” Priestap said in the interview before the House Judiciary Committee.
The FBI investigation into Clinton was opened on July 10, 2015, by Randall Coleman, then-head of the FBI’s counterintelligence division and predecessor to Priestap. At this time, McCabe was the assistant director in charge at the Washington Field Office and Strzok was an assistant special agent in charge at the Washington Field Office.
On July 30, 2015, McCabe was suddenly promoted to the No. 3 position within the FBI as associate deputy director and was transferred to FBI headquarters. Strzok would soon be transferred to headquarters as well.
Approximately two months after the opening of the Clinton investigation, FBI leadership asked for the transfer of hand-selected agents from the Washington Field Office. Strzok was one of those chosen, and he was moved to FBI headquarters probably in September or October 2015.

Federal authorities this week arrested another member of an extremist Jewish sect in what the FBI called a new plot to abduct two New York children who recently fled the ultra-Orthodox group.
Matityau Moshe Malka appeared in federal court in White Plains, New York, on Tuesday on kidnapping and obstruction of justice charges.
The FBI said Malka and other members of Lev Tahor planned to kidnap a 14-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother three months after they were taken from their mother in upstate New York and later recovered by law enforcement in Mexico.
Authorities said Malka gave several cellphones to the girl so she could speak with members of the Guatemala-based sect, including its leader, who is not named in the criminal complaint.
The group's leader recently vowed to fight the mother of the children "until the last drop of blood," the document says, and "indicated that there are people in New York prepared to execute" another kidnapping.
A message seeking comment was sent to Malka's defense attorney.
Authorities charged four other members of Lev Tahor in December with abducting the same boy and girl and taking them out of the country. The children eventually were found in the Mexican town of Tenango del Aire and reunited with their mother in New York.
The mother had been a member of Lev Tahor— her father founded the sect in 1994 — but fled the group last year after its leadership became increasingly extreme, according to the FBI.
The sect has been accused of subjecting children to physical and sexual abuse.
The criminal complaint says Lev Tahor considers the 14-year-old girl to be the wife of Jacob Rosner, one of the men charged in the December kidnapping.

Jiménez said the suspects were arrested and have been turned over to the federal police and immigration authorities and are expected to be deported to their home countries. Though the motive is still unknown, the head of the National Migration Institute in Tijuana, Rodulfo Figueroa, believes that the migrants started the riot because they were unhappy with their accommodations in the border city. “It was not a problem of overcrowding. As the national emergency fight rages on in Congress, the unfortunate reality is that people continue to enter the United States illegally. One of the primary avenues by which this is happening is through Mexico.
As a result, President Donald Trump recently indicated that if Mexico doesn’t do more to stop illegal crossings from Mexico into the United States, then he will close the U.S.–Mexico border as soon as this week. While some in Congress continue to try to stymie the president’s efforts to build the wall in accordance with the National Emergency Act, the president may still close the border under a separate legal provision.
According to Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act:
“(f) Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”
Notably, the law permits the president to take such action when he believes the entry of any aliens would be “detrimental to the interests of the United States.” This standard is very general and broad.
As explained in the Conservative Review, “that includes public welfare, health concerns, values, attitudes, etc.” In addition, the president’s power under this law is plenary, meaning that it is absolute and the courts shouldn’t interfere with the president’s decision.
A recent article in the New York Post highlighted some of the risks and dangers that currently exist at the border:
“Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan warned that the situation on the border was at a ‘breaking point’ and said that ‘apprehensions are on pace to surpass 100,000 this month.’
“’CBP is facing an unprecedented humanitarian and border security crisis all along our southwest border, and nowhere has that crisis manifested more acutely than here in El Paso,’ McAleenan said.
“He said many of the illegal immigrants trying to cross the border arrive with serious injuries or are suffering from diseases like chickenpox and the flu, overwhelming agents and detention centers.”

Victims reported being beaten, raped, drugged, and pimped out, according to the report. A 17-year-old female was reportedly tattooed by one of the suspects on her forearm and under her eye.
One of those arrested on March 25 is Darnell Johnson, 26, who faces two counts of tattooing a minor and one count of “contributing to the delinquency of minors. Johnson also faces accusations of possessing an illegal firearm. He has a prior conviction for domestic battery. Two other men identified as Jayson Figueroa and Cordarrell Rudolph have also been arrested, Fox reported. They face charges of trafficking children for sexual purposes, second-degree rape, and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. A fourth man, Kortlen Hubbard, was also arrested after confessing to having had sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl.
Police rescued a 16-year-old sex trafficking victim from a New Orleans hotel in February, The Times-Picayune reported.
A 17-year-old girl was also rescued in the sting. Johnson allegedly tattooed her forearm and face with the word “numb.” She has also been charged with trafficking children for sexual purposes after allegedly recruiting the 16-year-old into.

North Carolina GOP chair indicted on bribery charges

A federal grand jury indicted the chair of the North Carolina Republican Party and three others on bribery charges Tuesday, law enforcement officials announced.
Robin Hayes, the state GOP chair, and Greg Lindberg, a businessman and wealthy donor, are accused, along with two others, of engaging in a scheme to bribe North Carolina state Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey. Causey has not been charged.

The indictment, unsealed Tuesday, alleges that Lindberg, Hayes and two Lindberg associates, John Gray and John Palermo, sought to use independent expenditure accounts and improper campaign contributions to bribe Causey to make official decisions favorable to Lindberg’s business.
According to the indictment, the four defendants offered Causey millions of dollars in campaign contributions, among other things, in exchange for the removal of his senior deputy commissioner.
Causey reported concerns about the political contributions to federal authorities and agreed to cooperate with an investigation into the matter, officials said.
“Bribery of public officials at any level of government undermines confidence in our political system,” Brian Benczkowski, the assistant U.S. attorney general for the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, said in a statement. “The Criminal Division will use all the tools at our disposal – including the assistance of law-abiding public officials – to relentlessly investigate and prosecute corruption wherever we find it.”
Hayes also allegedly lied to FBI agents about his involvement in the scheme, particularly about directing Lindberg’s contributions to the state GOP into Causey’s reelection campaign, according to law enforcement officials.
Hayes has surrendered himself to authorities and made an initial appearance at a U.S. courthouse in Charlotte on Tuesday, WBTV reported.
News of the indictment came a day after Hayes, a former U.S. congressman, announced that he would not seek reelection as chair of the North Carolina Republican Party at its convention this summer.
The indictment is the latest controversy to rock North Carolina Republicans. Earlier this year, state election officials ordered a new election in the state's 9th Congressional District after a lengthy investigation into an alleged ballot-tampering scheme.
That scheme was allegedly led by a contractor for Mark Harris, the Republican candidate in the race. Harris has since bowed out of the new election. He has repeatedly denied personal wrongdoing.

The party seeking to REVERSE what POTUS did argued that this text only authorizes a President to withdraw lands from disposition; it does not authorize a President to revoke a prior withdrawal and thus that power remains vested solely with Congress
POTUS lawyers countered by arguing that the section does not limit the President’s authority in any way, other than to clarify that lands must be unleased in order to be withdrawn and that the phrases “may . . . withdraw” amd that action that ‘may’ be taken ‘from time to time’—carries with it the implied power to revise action previously taken under the delegated authority.
HERE IS WHAT THE COURT SAID:
The text of Section 12(a) refers only to the withdrawal of lands; it does not expressly authorize the President to revoke a prior withdrawal. Congress appears to have expressed one concept—withdrawal—and excluded the converse— revocation.
However, the statute’s inclusion of the phrase “from time to time” renders the text of Section 12(a) ambiguous (AND SO COULD BE READ EITHER WAY)
HOW TO RESOLVE AMBIGUITY? COURT STATED: "In light of the ambiguity created by this aspect of Section 12(a)’s text, the Court will look to the context of the statute in an effort to discern the intent of Congress." (THIS IS NORMAL PRACTICE)
The Court went on to conclude that Congress did not intend to grant POTUS authority to REVOKE a prior REMOVAL - the arguments are not easy to summarize but IMO the Court got it right
Bottom line in simple terms - in other laws Congress granted POTUS power to remove and to revoke various actions - so the Court reasoanbly concluded if Congress had intended that in this case it could and would and should have done so.
So in any event it does not appear to be fuckery or anything outrageous - its just a quirk in the law. If you want to read it:
