DOJ Rushes to Block California From Counting 20,000 Ballots Tied to Suspected Noncitizens Before Votes Are Mixed Forever

The Justice Department is seeking an emergency order from the Ninth Circuit to stop California from counting mail-in ballots linked to more than 20,000 people federal investigators have flagged as likely noncitizens, warning that once the ballots are separated from their envelopes, the damage cannot be undone.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli and Attorney General Todd Blanche are leading the effort after a district court did not act on their earlier request to review the citizenship of individuals believed to be noncitizens.

The motion names California, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, and Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan as defendants and seeks a ruling by Saturday.

California and Weber oppose the request.

Federal officials say U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Homeland Security Investigations reviewed California voter registration data against federal immigration records and identified more than 20,000 registered voters who received mail ballots and are considered highly likely to be noncitizens.

Federal law, of course, bars noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

Essayli told Fox News that the 20,000 figure is the floor and that more names are expected.

Some individuals on the list have already been criminally charged for alleged illegal registration or voting as part of an effort labeled Operation Protect the Vote.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the dispute began earlier this month when the Justice Department delivered a password-protected thumb drive containing the list to Logan’s office and sent letters giving state and county officials 48 hours to review the names, confirm citizenship where possible, and segregate any ballots from those whose citizenship could not be verified.

Logan’s office said it had not opened the drive because doing so would conflict with established data privacy and information security protocols and that the device was not considered a secure medium.

Weber’s office said it had not provided the list to her directly and that earlier federal claims of roughly 190,000 potential noncitizens had never been backed by methodology or data.

After the deadline passed, the department sued in federal court in Los Angeles, asking a judge to bar the state from tabulating ballots until it could confirm citizenship.

In a statement, Blanche said, “State-facilitated voter fraud is unacceptable in the United States of America. If found responsible in a court of law, the State of California will have seriously undermined confidence in our electoral system and violated laws that protect our nation’s representative system of government.”

Essayli added, “We’re not asking California to take any drastic steps other than to sequester the ballots from the suspected noncitizens,” and said ballots have already been sent out and are being returned.

Los Angeles County has already processed more than 331,000 mail-in ballots.

Officials argue that once ballots are separated from their envelopes, it becomes practically impossible to identify and set aside individual ones without disrupting the entire count.

More than 7,000 of the flagged names have addresses in Los Angeles County.

The state began mailing ballots in early October.

Late last month, the Supreme Court allowed states to use the Department of Homeland Security’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system to check voter eligibility for now, after a lower court blocked the expanded version.

Trump signed an executive order directing the creation of a federal voter-registration list and new restrictions on mail voting.

“It is unlawful for noncitizens to vote in federal elections,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a press release earlier this month. “The Department of Homeland Security and our federal partners reviewed publicly available California voter-registration files and compared relevant records with federal immigration data to identify alien registrants. This preliminary analysis has identified a significant number of individuals in California who are likely noncitizens and appear to be registered to vote; the analysis and review remain ongoing. This is completely unacceptable — as even one noncitizen vote cancels out the ballot of an American citizen and undermines our elections. DHS is committed to identifying unlawful voting, protecting the integrity of federal elections, and ensuring that only eligible American citizens elect America’s leaders.”

A congressional representative currently named Ilhan Omar, previously known as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, is facingmounting scrutiny about her personage and immigration status following federal investigators raiding her residence and taking volumes of evidence including her cell phone.

US Attorney in Washington DC, Jeanine Pirro has confirmed that Ilhan Omar’s legal name is actually Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, and it appears her family committed immigration fraud to enter the U.S, gain permanent residence and eventually citizenship.

Pirro noted in a Fox interview the DOJ is concerned about “whether or not she has followed the laws as it relates to the use of these names,” indicating that they are focused on fraud in her immigration paperwork. Whether her status is legal likely depends on whether she fraudulently obtained citizenship.

According to media reports, Federal agents have obtained “Omar’s” DNA, which can be used to prove that she is living under a false identity and that she previously married her brother in order to get him status in the U.S. Her real identity as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi appears to link her to her former husband through a shared birth name.

The AfD party is on the rise within Germany as the severe leftist and globalist policies carried out by Chancellors Angela Merkel, Olaf Schulz and Friedrich Merz have severely compromised the German economy.

Beginning with the catastrophic energy policy decisions, Ms. Weidel walks through the problems currently being faced by country of Germany and the urgent policy changes needed in order to attempt recovery. Thousands of businesses along with industrial manufacturing are currently collapsing. The economic spiral is shedding tens-of-thousands of jobs, and the bureaucracy of the European Union is compounding their ability to respond effectively.

Germany has always represented the economic engine of the EU, and as a nation the primary prism by which the German people evaluate their status is through the prism of economics. Personally, I do not see a way that Germany can escape this spiral and simultaneously remain inside the European Union. The actions Germany needs to take, example ‘energy policy’, are not in alignment with the climate change interests of the EU bureaucracy.

Additionally, the migration and open border policy of the larger EU only makes the issues worse inside Germany as the migrant subsidies are at a scale that requires high taxes from the production class.

Quick thoughts on Mayor Pete’s 2008 Somaliland vacation and related op-ed

In 2008 “Mayor Pete” was back in the United States as a McKinsey Consulting “whiz kid” based from the Chicago office after his Rhodes Scholarship at England’s Oxford University. He had joined the Washington-based Truman National Security Project, but had not yet become an officer in the United States Naval Reserve. In other words, he was taking a normal prep course to run for president. His membership in the Truman Project distinguishes him as a Democrat.

In July 2008, Buttigieg and Nathaniel Myers, identified as a “political analyst” in Ethiopia, had published in the New York Times an op-ed under the understated headline “Tourists in Somaliland“. I have no clear idea why. The substance of the article is not about tourism but rather the argument that the United States was failing to adequately support Somaliland and should initiate formal recognition, but with very little real detail or heft. Myers was working as a World Bank consultant in Ethiopia at the time according to his bio online at the Carnegie Endowment where he worked until recently (update: Myers was a friend of Buttigieg’s from Harvard). Myers also published two op-ed pieces in 2010 in Foreign Policy on the authoritarianism of Meles Zenawi in Ethiopia and analogizing Eritrea as “Africa’s North Korea”. My involvement in East Africa has been as a democracy advocate so I agree with the sentiments of Myers’s writings, even if I don’t think the “Tourists” piece with Buttigieg was really on point.

Where the “Tourists in Somaliland” piece misses the mark is failing to notice thatUSAID was supporting Somaliland, albeit in a constrained and unusual way. I am particularly aware of this because in the fall of 2007, as the resident director for East Africa based in Nairobi at the International Republican Institute, I was asked by IRI management to extend my unpaid leave from the law department at a major defense contractor, to stay past my scheduled January 2008 return to the States following Kenya’s December 2007 elections because of our new increased work for Somaliland. In particularwe were tasked unexpectedly by USAID to open an office in Hargeisa with Somaliland parliamentary elections scheduled for April 2008.

President Trump on Saturday roasted the Somali Representative of Minnesota, who goes by the name Ilhan Omar, as America learns more about her background amid an ongoing federal criminal investigation.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, it was revealed in a recent court filing by the DC US Attorney’s Office that the Somali Congresswoman was referred to as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” in search warrants for her home and property executed last week. The warrants have not been fully executed, the filing stated.

It was then revealed by sources familiar with the investigation that “Ilhan Omar” is a fake alias used by Ilhan Nur Said Elmi to obtain citizenship in the year 2000, live in the country illegally, and run for office. A former Minnesota federal immigration judge said this could “call into question” every document she’s ever filled out with her fake name, Ilhan Omar.

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro also confirmed on Thursday, “Her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. You had it absolutely right.” She added, “Her sister is Sahra Nur Said Elmi, and her sister actually wrote a book and talked about the fact that Ilhan is her sister. So that is her name.”

Trump on Friday said Omar’s “whole life is a total scam” while speaking to reporters. Lindell TV and The Gateway Pundit correspondent Cara Castronuova asked the President, “How come Ilhan Omar doesn’t have a gag order like you did?”

Omar has denied using a fictitious name and even went on to vote in the 2026 election on Friday.

Still, Trump has been roasting her at recent rallies on Thursday in Iowa and Friday in Florida, calling for her resignation from Congress, noting that she “must immediately have to resign from Congress.”
