1st Special Forces Command Launches Inaugural Drone Competition to Sharpen Formation Readiness

ANNISTON, Ala.— 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) brought together 15 Teams from across the Special Forces Groups, the 75th Ranger Regiment and the 101st Division at Fort McClellan and Clarke Range Complex, Aug. 24-28, for its inaugural Best Drone Team Competition, a five-day event designed to assess and strengthen unmanned systems proficiency across the formation.
The competition tested how teams employed small, unmanned aircraft systems in support of tactical tasks in both rural and urban environments.
The event focused on more than flight operations, requiring competitors to analyze problems, adjust to changing conditions and apply available technology to mission requirements.
1st Special Forces Group (Airborne)may have earned first-place honors at the conclusion of the event, but the broader purpose was to improve readiness across 1st Special Forces Command by identifying effective practices, exposing capability gaps and informing future training.
“This event was built to measure how teams apply unmanned systems in a tactical context, not simply how well they operate the equipment,” said Chief Warrant Officer 4 Phil Schleicher, G3-Aviation/UAS & Robotics Ops Warrant for the Special Operations Robotics Detachment (SORD), 1 SFC.
“We wanted to evaluate judgment, adaptability and how these systems support mission accomplishment.”
The event brought together Special Forces teams, robotics-focused personnel and key staff representatives from across the command, creating an opportunity to compare approaches and exchange tactics, techniques and procedures.
The competition reflects a broader command emphasis on adapting to rapidly changing technology and ensuring units can incorporate emerging capabilities into training and operations.
As unmanned systems continue to evolve, commanders must balance experimentation, resourcing and skill development to ensure formations remain effective in complex environments.
“The operational value of these systems depends on how well soldiers understand their capabilities and integrate them into a larger tactical problem,” said 20th Special Forces Group’s SORD Competition Coordinator. “The system itself is only one part of the equation.”
Observations from the competition will help shape future training across the force, including efforts to capture best practices, develop instructional materials and examine ways to raise baseline proficiency in tactical unmanned systems employment.
The competition provided leaders an opportunity to observe how teams are solving similar operational challenges with different methods and equipment. Those insights, can help inform follow-on training and guide future capability development discussions across the command.
“Our objective is to take what was learned this week and make it accessible across the 1 SFC formation,” said Brig. Gen. Joseph Wortham, Commanding General of 1 SFC. “Success is not just about recognizing the top team. It is about improving the overall force.”
As the command continues to refine how it prepares Soldiers to operate in a changing technological environment, the inaugural Best Drone Team Competition marked an early step in building a more capable, adaptive and informed force.

Could these flashing triangles in the sky be real-life UFOs?

Way up in the sky, a triangle glowed the same three colours over and over again: yellow, red and green.
Craning their neck to see it, mobile phone in hand, was a former RAF personnel member on holiday on the west coast of Bali in Indonesia.
The triangle wasn’t alone.
‘We saw three triangular-shaped objects in the sky,’ the personnel member, who asked to speak anonymously, tells Metro of the July 6 UFO encounter.
‘One was flashing red, pink and blue green lights and the other was showing three steady green lights.
‘The third was quite faint. They were not making any noise and were stationary.’
The sky was clear and the wind still as the objects hovered about 600ft above them and their partner’s heads for 20 minutes from 6.40pm, they add.
‘We moved briefly inside the apartment to get ready to go out. When we moved outside again, we noticed they had gone. That’s about it. Quite weird really.’
‘There are several things to suggest it’s a UFO’
Gary Heseltine, the editor of UFO TRUTH MAGAZINE, was sent the footage by a former colleague.
He says that at first glance, the objects in the clip appear to be drones.
‘But there are several things that suggest to me that they might be anomalous, or a UAP,’ Heseltine says, using the modern term for UFOs, unidentified anomalous phenomena.
‘They hovered above the hotel for 20 minutes in total silence and they have an unusual appearance, three objects with two distinct shapes.’
The objects don’t appear to be in a typical drone formation, though, and he location of the encounter, a hotel in Seminyak, is ‘unusual’.
Heseltine says the footage is similar to UAP sightings in 2024, when drones zipped over New Jersey and other East Coast states for weeks.
‘All in all,’ the retired British Transport Police Detective Constable adds, ‘curious and for me unidentified.’
So… is it aliens?
Depends on who you ask. Metro shared the alleged close encounter with other experts in all things extraterrestrial.
Mark Christopher Lee, a UFOlogist and filmmaker, says that while the video is ‘impressive’, he’s not convinced it shows aliens coming to say hello.
Instead, he said the triangles could be Balinese kites fitted with ‘terrestrial’-looking LED lights.
The objects were seen at the height of the island’s kite-flying season, a centuries-old tradition where locals ask the Hindu gods for a good harvest.
Some kites, known locally as layang-layang, are fitted with green, blue and red lights, a Bali tourist website says.
‘For a brief few seconds my ancient alien head on was thinking ancient Vimāna [flying ships described in Hindu text] coming back!’ adds Lee.
‘But logic kicks in, especially with those lights – I guess at night you also can’t see the strings.’
Mick West, a science writer and UFO sceptical investigator, was blunter with his verdict.
‘They look like LED kites,’ he says.
Videos of UFOs over the decades are all too infamous for being low-quality. And we might be entering the modern-day version of that.
Kate Burns, VP EMEA of identifAI – a tool that detects if an image or video is AI-generated – says parts of the video appear to be edited.
She added: ‘The challenge with such videos, however, is that the lower the resolution they are, the harder it is to provide an entirely confident score.’
About one in two people in the UK believe aliens exist and nearly one in 10 claim to have seen a UFO, a 2021 YouGov poll found.
But exact figures on UFO sightings can be tricky, as police forces do not record them, leaving alien hunters to compile their own databases.
Nearly 100 sightings of orbs, colourful triangles and fleets of metal discs in UK skies have been reported to UFO Identified this year.
Almost all sightings can be explained away as hoaxes, Chinese paper lanterns or aircraft lights, according to Nick Pope, who investigated UFOs for the Ministry of Defence in the 1990s.
Speaking before his death in April, Pope told Metro nearly all callers to the ministry’s ‘UFO desk’ were ‘sincerely believed’ they saw a UFO.
‘In the end, we found about 80% or so of these sightings were misidentifications, 15% had insufficient data and 5% were unknown,’ he said.
‘That 5% doesn’t mean extraterrestrial, but as I always remind people, neither did we rule that out.;

But that argument, however valid, addresses the wrong question. When scientists discover a new species — a fish nobody has catalogued, an insect never described — the how we found it stays separate from the what we found.
The expedition equipment, the funding source, the surveillance methods: those can stay proprietary. The species itself gets published, peer-reviewed, and entered into the public record.

Congress has moved, unevenly, in this direction.
The UAP Disclosure Act and related transparency provisions attached to recent defense authorization bills were built specifically to force a more structured accounting of what the government holds on this subject, and to create a review process modeled loosely on the JFK Records Act.
The intent behind those provisions was to stop UAP material from disappearing into permanent classification simply because no formal declassification deadline ever arrived.
Low-Resolution Answers to High-Resolution Questions
In the meantime, the public-facing output remains thin.
Official releases — through the Pentagon's UAP resolution office — have largely consisted of the same handful of blurry infrared clips first surfaced years ago, alongside written assessments that stop short of addressing the specific claims raised in sworn testimony.
Members like Mace have described watching material in classified settings that goes well beyond what's been cleared for release, without ever detailing what, specifically, would be lost to national security by describing the underlying phenomenon rather than the sensor that filmed it.
That distinction — hardware versus phenomenon — is where this debate should be focused.
Whatever one makes of the underlying claims, the argument that some categories of UAP-related evidence belong in the public record, separate from classified defense programs, isn't a fringe position anymore.

Trump & Hegseth Try To Tie Iran To 9/11 At Pentagon Ceremony
The two main 9/11 ceremonies on Friday marking 25 years since the terror attacks were held at Ground Zero in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington DC. President Trump attended the latter while VP JD Vance was present at the former.
War Secretary Pete Hegseth also helped lead remembrance events at the Pentagon, but at the annual NYC commemoration, Vance appeared to keep a lower profile while listening from the audience to names being read out.
Trump and Hegseth in their respective addresses tried to tie the ongoing Iran war to Sept. 11, 2001. They both sough to frame current Iran action as a continuation of the Global War on Terror.
"We salute the service members working right now to ensure the world's number one sponsor of terror, the Islamic Republic of Iran, will never ever have a nuclear weapon," Trump said at the Pentagon.
As for Hegseth, he spoke just ahead of the president and said that US forces remain "vigilant" against the "Islamic theocracy" in Iran.
"Our warriors have fought an Islamic theocracy that has wished us death for nearly half a century, that cheered on 9/11," he said.
"A regime that has sponsored terrorist attacks against Americans for decades, killing thousands, including our comrades in Iraq and Afghanistan. But they did not factor in this president," the Pentagon chief continued.
"We’re still sending terrorists where they belong — to hell — and tankers to the bottom of the ocean, where they belong," Hegseth added. "And we are ensuring that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon."
Ironically it was close American ally Saudi Arabia which actually factors in most directly to the 9/11 tragedy, and family members of victims have filed a lawsuit against the kingdom for state-level and intelligence complicity in the terror attacks.
The majority of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, and each and every one of them was a Sunni Muslim. As for Iran, it is a historic enemy of the Sunni Saudi kingdom and practices Shia Islam, which Riyadh considers 'heretical'.
Trying to link Iran to 9/11 also has a whiff of Bush-era propaganda to it. Not only did some NeoCon pundits at the time try to link Tehran to it, but a major talking point was also a far-fetched 'Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda alliance'.
Of course, Saddam was a secular Ba'athist autocrat and historically sought to persecute radical fundamentalist sects. Still, Iraq got invaded on the heels of Afghanistan and Saddam was overthrown by US forces.
More recently, in the last decade of the Syria proxy war, Iranian officers and Shia militias were typically the ones along the front lines fighting ISIS and other Sunni jihad movements. The latter were often sponsored by the Gulf states as well as US intelligence. When it comes to the Middle East and Washington policy, nothing is ever as it seems.

Lately, the Fake News Media and Democrats have shared videos and photographs of Trump appearing to fall asleep at myriad events, most recently yesterday’s 9/11 memorial event at the Pentagon. While sitting beside the First Lady, Trump’s eyelids seemed sealed shut as he slumped forward in his seat, shoulders slack and sagging. It was the latest example of the criminal media trouncing an 80-year-old man known for keeping odd hours and working from dusk till dawn behind the Resolute Desk. Trump hits his stride after dark, conferring with world leaders and owning the libs on Truth Social. Nonetheless, hacks like CNN’s Kaitlan Collins and ABC News’ Rachell Scott frequently taunt Trump for calling his predecessor “Sleepy Joe” Biden when he himself seemingly struggles to stay alert.
Trump’s radiant former mouthpiece, the incomparable Karoline Leavitt, often clashed with journalists over claims that he crashed out while entertaining domestic and foreign dignitaries. Leavitt accused reporters of snapping photos of Trump “blinking” and misrepresenting the images as ‘evidence’ of Trump napping at inopportune times.
Here at RRN, we believe our audience is too sophisticated to get frenzied over ‘he said, she said’ disputes, but three current West Wingers we spoke with said Trump had, in fact, fallen asleep and counted sheep on more than one occasion. But they ascribed his inexplicable exhaustion to “poison,” not natural fatigue due to age.
“President Trump, America’s favorite president, has twice the energy of a man half his age,” one source said. “Man, I know it sounds unbelievable, but more than one of us thinks there’s a security breach, and someone’s tampered with the President’s meals.”
A breach of that magnitude would constitute a national security crisis. The Secret Service vets White House chefs, and agents are present in the White House Kitchen during meal preparation—at least two agents “taste test” cuisine before it reaches the president’s table. And when Trump dines out, his handpicked “taste testers” scrutinize and sample his fare long before a maitre d’ puts a plate on his table.
Trump’s fear of poisoning dates back decades. It’s been well-documented that Trump is a germaphobe who has hired personal “poison testers” to munch on craft service meals ahead of bringing him caviar bisque. So fearful is Trump of being poisoned, he won’t drink anything other than hermetically sealed cans of Diet Coke, his favorite beverage, which HHS Secretary RFK Jr. recently told him were a safe part of the food pyramid.
Still, our sources say White House food preparation is a large operation with many points of contact, from delivery to storage to the moment a drink is placed on the Resolute Desk. One source told us that when Trump visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on May 6 and had his blood drawn as part of a routine physical, a clinician asked whether he started taking Ambien—a narcotic sleep aid—for insomnia. Evidently, traces of Zolpidem, the active chemical ingredient in Ambien, were in Trump’s blood.
“President Trump told the doctor he was wrong. Everyone knows Trump doesn’t drink, doesn’t take supplements, doesn’t do drugs. No idea if he got re-tested, but I’m not the only one here thinking someone’s fucking him to embarrass him,” our source said.
RRN asked the White House to comment on the possibility of Trump being drugged to induce slumber. One of POTUS’ top aides, Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, dismissed the idea as patently absurd. “Food service protocols are designed precisely to prevent contamination. He’s 80 years old; he gets dehydrated, he gets tired sometimes, but drugged—no, that’s impossible. If someone told you otherwise, they’re lying. No one is putting microscopic holes in his soda cans with a needle.”

Massachusetts Scumbag Named Aidan "TURTLEBOY" Kearney Doxxes Clancy Juror In Violation Of Court Order Of Impoundment Currently In Effect
For those of you who do not know this guy, he is currently under indictment for multiple counts of juror intimidation related to the Karen Read case in which Ms. Read was acquitted of murdering Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe.
Kearney's criminal trial is set for December 2026.
In the Clancy case, the Judge recently impounded or sealed the names of all jurors until at least September 18, 2026, at a minimum .
But this scumbag, Aidan "Turtleboy" Kearney, just could not resist the temptation to dox the one black juror who refused to find Lindsay Clancy "not guilty" of murdering her three children in violation of the current court order.
Kearney's bail should be revoked ASAP, in my opinion, for violating the court order while out on bail for witness intimidation in another Massachusetts murder case.
I'm posting this as a public service announcement because Aidan "TURTLEBOY" Kearney markets himself as a conservative. He has been embroiled in countless online fights, mostly with women, and he is a menace to society for doxxing this heroic juror because this clearly impacts the integrity, independence, and impartiality of the apparently criminally corrupted judicial system in Massachusetts.
To anyone thinking of partnering with Aidan TURTLEBOY Kearney, you should know that he did this, and I hope the bail on which he is currently "free" (pending his December 2026 criminal trial) is immediately revoked on Monday.
