Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is reportedly seeking a new indictment pertaining to President Trump and the 2020 election.

“The Arizona Attorney General’s Office will return this case to the grand jury,” Mayes spokesperson Richie Taylor said on Thursday. “We decline to comment further at this time.”

Mayes’ office confirmed that she will be seeking new indictments against allies of Trump who aided him in his contesting of the 2020 election after the Arizona “high court shot down an effort to revive her sprawling first indictment against them,” per Politico.

The announcement by Mayes, a Democrat, came moments after the Arizona Supreme Court publicly revealed a June 2 decision to deny Mayes’ bid to revive the case against some of Trump’s top allies, which was dismissed over a judge’s finding that there was a defect in the grand jury indictment.

The brief, unexplained decision closed the book on a two-year-old case that threatened some of Trump’s closest allies, including former chief of staff Mark Meadows, attorneys Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman and nearly a dozen GOP activists who falsely claimed to be legitimate presidential electors despite Trump’s defeat in the state. Trump himself was named by the unusually aggressive grand jury as an unindicted co-conspirator.

The judge overseeing the case tossed it last year after finding that Mayes’ prosecutors failed to present the original grand jury with the precise text of the law that Trump’s allies were accused of seeking to violate. In November, Mayes asked the Arizona Supreme Court to reverse the lower-court rulings.

June 5 (UPI) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet him face-to-face to try to bring the four-year-long war between their two countries to an end.

In an open letter to Putin late Thursday, Zelensky said Ukraine wanted to end the conflict through “direct engagement,” adding that it was incumbent on the sides to act, rather than waiting for Washington to take the lead — but other agreed participants such as the United States and European nations “could join the bilateral track” once it was established.

“We see that the United States is fully focused on the issue of Iran, and it would be wrong to simply wait until the war in Europe returns to the center of its attention. Ukraine proposes ending this war through direct engagement between us — and you. This must be done honestly, with dignity, and with guarantees that the war will not be reignited. I am proposing a meeting,” wrote Zelensky.

Russia was on the back foot, on the front and from daily Ukrainian drone and missile strikes, and Putin was running out of time and resources while fuel shortages and constantly rising prices from his endless war were testing the patience of the Russian people, Zelensky said.

“Life without war is infinitely better. And we want to achieve that. I am convinced that the majority of Russians would respond positively to this as well — and you know it. Do not be afraid to take the path out of this war,” he added.

Zelensky rejected suggestions made by Russian officials that he was welcome in Moscow any time, saying any meeting should be held in a country with a track record of mediating in conflicts such as Switzerland, Turkey or nations in the Arab world.

In a wind-ranging 1,800-word missive, the bulk of which was a critique of Putin’s 26-year rule, Zelensky said he wanted to set a clear date for the meeting and that there should be a cease-fire for the duration of the negotiations.

Putin, responding before he had seen the letter, said he was “certainly prepared and willing to reach an agreement with Ukraine,” provided there were compromises, but rejected the idea of a cease-fire.

That was in line with his long-standing position that Russia would only sign up to a fully-formed peace agreement and that it would not stop the fighting until such time as it came into force.

At the same time, Putin reiterated doubts regarding Zelensky’s legitimacy, due to the fact he remains in office two years after his presidential term expired in May 2024.

Elections cannot be held in Ukraine due to martial law, which was declared on the day Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed the possibility of a Zelensky-Putin summit but didn’t address Zelensky’s claim he was too busy with Iran.

“I’m glad they’re maybe talking about meeting. I think we had a lot to do with it. I think it would be great if they met. They should get it done,” said Trump.

Why Radio Silence from 3I/ATLAS Is Scientifically Valuable — Not Disappointing

When an object arrives from another star traveling at those speeds, it is understandable that some people ask whether it could be artificial. The SETI Institute asked that question properly, methodically, and with the best available tools.

The Allen Telescope Array spent seven hours scanning 3I/ATLAS across a wide band of radio frequencies. The result: no radio transmitter stronger than 10 to 110 watts detected anywhere near the object.

To put that in context, the only two interstellar objects in existence that actually do emit artificial radio signals are the Voyager probes — human-made, running on roughly 23 watts each, and already fading fast.

The Breakthrough Listen program at the Green Bank Telescope ran the most sensitive radio scan conducted on any interstellar object to date. They found no isotropic continuous-wave transmitters above 0.17 watts across the 900 to 1670 MHz range.

Every candidate signal traced back to local human interference. The MeerKAT telescope joined the search and detected hydroxyl — which forms naturally when sunlight breaks water ice apart — but nothing artificial.

Multiple telescopes, multiple methodologies, total silence on the technological front.

What this actually demonstrates is the maturity of modern technosignature science. Researchers are not disappointed by the null result.

As SETI co-author Valeria Garcia Lopez noted after the study, the exercise proved how realistic it now is to detect a signal if one existed, using present-day technology.

The infrastructure works. The sensitivity is real. The silence means the comet is a comet — and that conclusion carries its own extraordinary weight.

Where Did 3I/ATLAS Actually Come From?

The interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS appears to be old — genuinely ancient in a way that reorients perspective. Dynamical models estimate the object's age somewhere between 3 and 11 billion years.

Some analyses push toward 7 billion years. That would make its ice older than Earth itself. The frozen methane JWST detected may have crystallized in a protoplanetary disk that no longer exists, around a star that may have long since burned out or shifted beyond recognition.

Isotopic measurements add another layer. Research submitted to Nature Astronomy found that the deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio in 3I/ATLAS's methane is roughly 14 times higher than the same ratio in comet 67P measured by the Rosetta spacecraft — the only other comet where this comparison was possible.

High D/H ratios in this context indicate formation in extremely cold, radiation-shielded conditions deep inside an ancient protoplanetary disk or interstellar cloud.

The 3I/ATLAS interstellar comet did not form anywhere near a warm inner zone. It formed in conditions of deep cold, under a star that operated very differently from our Sun.

This is what makes the silence on alien technology so fitting. The comet is not a message. It is something better: a sample. It is a physical fragment from a planetary system science cannot visit, delivered to our doorstep by the gravitational mechanics of the galaxy itself.

The chemical fingerprint now locked into published papers represents the most detailed record of extrasolar material ever assembled — obtained not by launching a probe across light-years, but by pointing existing telescopes at a visitor that came here on its own.

As 3I/ATLAS moves beyond Jupiter and fades into the dark, what remains is a shifted understanding.

Planetary systems across the galaxy may share the same broad architecture of frozen volatiles, but the ratios, the depths, the isotopes — those vary in ways that carry the specific signature of where and when something formed.

This interstellar comet arrived carrying chemistry we do not make in our Solar System. That fact alone is enough to rewrite a chapter of astronomy.

BLUF: Congress is quietly moving beyond supporting Israel andtoward legally embedding Israel into America’s defense and intelligence architecture. Through Section 224 of the FY27 NDAA and Section 622 of the Senate Intelligence Authorization Act, lawmakers are creating institutional ties that future presidents may find difficult to unwind. The real issue is not intelligence sharing itself—which already exists—but whether Congress should permanently codify a strategic relationship that previous administrations deliberately kept flexible.As younger Americans increasingly question traditional U.S.-Israel policies, these measures appear designed to ensure that future political shifts cannot fundamentally alter the partnership.

United States Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) bathed himself in glory during the hours-long House Armed Services Committee (HASC) meeting on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027.

Essentially, Mr. Khanna was the only member of the HASC, from either party, who stood up for the United States. That’s because the HASC overwhelmingly voted to keep the controversial Section 224 of the proposed NDAA for FY 2027 in place. Khanna fought to have it pulled out.

Khanna’s colleagues ignored him.

As I showed in the previous piece on this topic, Section 224 is an unprecedented amendment to the NDAA, which funds our nation’s military-industrial complex.That amendment, if the NDAA ultimately passes into law, fuses Israel’s defense industrial and high-tech development bases with our own.

Neither the United Kingdom nor NATO enjoys that level of access to the United States’ defense industrial base.Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has vowed to strip Section 224 out of the NDAA when it moves from committee to the Floor of the United States House of Representatives.

Now, for the double-whammy.

Section 622 of the Senate’s Intelligence Authorization Act

As the NDAA winds its way through the elephantine House legislative process, the Senate is moving ahead with S.4615, the Senate’s FY 2027 Intelligence Authorization Act. Just as with Section 224 of the proposed NDAA, the Senate has inserted Section 622 into the Intelligence Authorization Act, which funds America’s byzantine Intelligence Community (IC).

Section 622, the “US-Israel Intelligence Sharing Enhancement” component of S.4615, seems innocuous at first glance. After all, America and Israel are partners. There are plenty of nations with which the United States has deep intelligence-sharing alliances.

The Five Eyes are an example of such an alliance (since the Cold War, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand have operated together on national security matters that affect them all).

But that is an alliance between the Anglosphere nations. And there are plenty of problems with Five Eyes today. Setting that aside, though, the argument has always been that the Anglosphere countries are more than allies because of their shared cultural, linguistic, and national heritages.

The Arab Center explains on its website that the “Anglosphere” connection is the defining reason behind the Five Eyes, as the shared language and culture create a “share-by-default” group.

Indeed, CNN, of all places, did an interesting breakdown on the reasons behind the Five Eyes being America’s most trusted spy alliance–and why Anglosphere leaders never included Israel in the Five Eyes alliance. It goes down to the “Trust Economy” engendered by the Anglosphere versus the “Barter Economy” model of intelligence sharing employed by Israel.

Basically, the members of the Five Eyes rarely target one another. The US and Israel, meanwhile, have a long history of conducting aggressive espionage operations against each other, thereby precluding the absolute, unconditional trust exemplified in the Five Eyes network.

US intelligence, when dealing with Israel, engages in transactional behavior. One of the most important functions of US intelligence vetting processes is to meticulously scrub or filter raw data–notably data concerning US citizens before handing it over to Israeli intelligence partners.

That’s because Washington’s spy agencies historically fear that the Israelis will have zero compunction in leveraging any intelligence they may receive about American citizens and turning it back on the Americans in some way.

Another reason the Americans have avoided (until now) elevating Israel to a Five Eyes-like intelligence alliance is the clearly divergent strategic interests. Ultimately, Five Eyes countries march in lockstep.

Yes, there are differences. But those differences are nothing compared to the differences between US intelligence and Israeli intelligence.

For instance, Israeli intel is primed for regional geopolitics and for dealing with kinetic threats. It’s tactical. The Five Eyes focus is on a coordinated, global monitoring system aimed at major state actors, such as China and Russia.

No matter how many times the Israelis want to argue that their nation, too, is part of that club, they are not. They are allies and partners. They’re very close partners. But they simply aren’t part of the Anglosphere.

Anyway, multiple former CIA officers with whom I spoke about this very issue indicated to me that Section 622 was a profound shift in US-Israeli intelligence relations. None of them believed it was for the better.

Israeli Meddling

One high-ranking CIA officer recounted to me the story of when a group of Israeli intelligence officials, while visiting CIA headquarters, circumvented proper security procedures and gained entry into the building.

At the time, the group of Israeli VIPs was going to meet with senior Agency executives on the seventh floor of Langley. One of the members of the visiting delegation, however, was recently assigned to the Israeli embassy in Washington and, as such, had not undergone the proper clearance process to enter the building.

This retired individual recounted the awkward position he found himself in. Did he break protocols for America’s oldest ally, or did he follow procedure?

He followed procedures and denied the Israelis access, telling them they’d have to either reschedule until after the uncleared member went through the proper vetting or they’d have to leave their unauthorized guest with the gate guard outside.

One of the Israelis immediately pulled out a phone, called a high-ranking United States senator directly, and within ten minutes, the Israelis would be ushered through the gate–with the one person who had not been properly vetted by security being pushed throughwhile still being uncleared to enter Langley.

Stories like this are legion among former US intelligence professionals.

A friend and colleague of mine, former CIA Bin Laden Unit leader Dr. Michael Scheuer, has maintained for years that the Israelis were “more trouble than they were worth” when it came to intelligence sharing.

Indeed, Scheuer insisted in an interview with me for my National Security Talk podcast on Rumble that the Israelis would routinely acquire sensitive US intelligence and then use that intelligence to undercut CIA operations in the Mideast systematically. Operations that were usually going hard after al Qaeda!

Still another story comes from a dear friend who spent years in the US Army Intelligence.

According to this individual, who served in the Sunni Triangle of Iraq during the height of the Iraq War, there was an Israeli intelligence “spy ring” operating in his area of responsibility. He only discovered they were operating there because “they kept interfering with our operations” against elements of al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI).

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to intelligence professionals sharing their old war stories as they relate to their encounters with Israeli intelligence. One begins to see why Langley correctly viewed its relationship with Mossad as merely transactional.
