Ukrainian rhythmic gymnasts were caught on video covering their ears and eyes during the Russian and Belarusian national anthemsat the European Championship in Varna, Bulgaria.

The tournament marks the first time athletes from the two countries have been allowed to compete under their national flagsin nearly five years, after World Gymnastics and European Gymnastics lifted their restrictions earlier this month.

One of the incidents took place during the medal ceremony for the junior ribbon event in Varna on Thursday, inwhich Russia’s Yana Zaikina won gold, Ukraine’s Sofia Krainska took silver, and Germany’s Melissa Diete took bronze.

Krainska was seen standing on thepodium wearing headphones and covering her eyes and face as the Russian national anthem played.

Zaikina’s victory was Russia’s first gold at the tournament.

A similarepisode occurred when Ukrainian gymnast Varvara Chubarova covered her ears and eyes as the Belarusian national anthemplayed following Kira Babkevich’s victory in the junior ball event.

Russian and Belarusian athletes were barred from most international competitionsafter the escalation of the Ukraine conflictin 2022.The two countries condemned the bans, calling them politically motivated. Some restrictions were later eased, allowing selected athletes to compete under neutral status.

Recently, major international sports organizations have started to lift their bans entirely.

The World Gymnastics Executive Committee announced earlier this month that Russian and Belarusian athletes can return to international competitionsunder their national symbols across all five disciplines represented by the Russian Gymnastics Federation. European Gymnastics followed with a similar decision last week.

Despite the lifting of the restrictions, theRussian team nearly missed the Varna championshipafter theBulgarian authorities refused to approve its charter flight. The delegation eventually arrived via Istanbul one day before the competition began.

President VladimirPutin has denounced what he described as selective sanctions. against Russian competitors, accusing international sports bodies of political bias and corruption.

Athletes should have access to competitions based solely on merit, as “politics has no place in sports,”the president said earlier this year.

Around five US servicemen and contractors suffered minor injuries during a recent Iranian ballistic missile strike on a Kuwaiti air base, Bloomberg reports, citing a source. At least one MQ-9 Reaper drone was reportedly destroyed.

The incident apparently occurred during the latest limited exchange between the US and Iran on Thursday.The US military said it destroyed five Iranian kamikaze drones “that posed a clear threat in and near the Strait of Hormuz” and struck a military site near the port city of Bandar Abbas. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it targeted a US airbase in the region in retaliation.

Bloomberg reported on Saturday that an Iranian Fateh-110 missile was intercepted by Kuwaiti air defenses,but falling debris hit Ali Al Salem Air Base.

The fragments slightly injured around five US personnel and inflicted material damage. One MQ-9 Reaper drone stationed at the base was destroyed and at least one other was seriously damaged, an anonymous person with direct knowledge of the attack told the outlet.

The US-Israeli attack on Iran has taken a heavy toll on America’s MQ-9 Reaper fleet,with around one-fifth of it wiped out.

Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported that the US military has lost up to 30 drones of the type worth nearly $1 billion. The bulk of them are believed to have been destroyed or badly damaged by Iranian fire, with a few lost in accidents and on the ground in long-range strikes on US military installations in the region.

The losses have left a major dent in the US fleet of medium-altitude long-endurance drones used for reconnaissance missions and precision strikes.The number of MQ-9 Reaper drones in the US inventory has fallen well beyond the Air Force’s minimum floor of 189, hovering at around the 135 mark.

The drones will not be easy to replace, as the MQ-9 Reaper’s manufacturer, General Atomics, halted production of the flagship model last year,and only produces variants reserved for foreign customers.

Coming to the Tennessee River July 4th: The biggest drone show in local history

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga and Hamilton County leaders say this year's Independence Day celebration will feature the largest drone show ever seen locally.

Hamilton County and the City of Chattanooga jointly announced plans for a free July 4th event along the Tennessee River to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

The centerpiece will be a choreographed show involving 500 drones flying above downtown Chattanooga. Officials say it will be the largest drone display in local history.

The event will also feature a 1,000-foot pyro waterfall cascading from the Market Street Bridge. Organizers say it will be the largest display of its kind ever produced locally.

The drone performance will be produced by Full Spectrum and Pyro Shows, companies that have worked on events for Disney, Dollywood, Riverbend and other productions around the world.

Officials say the event is designed to bring residents together for a shared Independence Day celebration downtown.

“As we celebrate our first 250 years and turn toward the next century, I ask that we take a moment to reflect on what distinguishes these United States from the despots our forefathers fled, and not fall prey to the voices of those who would divide us for their own gain,” Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said.

Organizers say additional details about viewing locations and free parking will be released in the coming weeks.

The futurist dubbed ‘China's Nostradamus' otherwise known as 'Professor Jiang' has delivered a damning reaction to Trump's UFO file declassification.

An analyst known as “China’s Nostradamus” for his predictions about the future - including correctly warning about the current US-Iran conflict - has made a stark claim about the Trump administration’s disclosure of America’s UFO files.

In February, Donald Trump instructed the US government to “begin the process of identifying and releasing” official files on aliens and extraterrestrial life.

The Pentagon has spent years working to declassify the documents, but Trump renewed attention on the issue by hinting at a substantial UFO file release.

Ukraine and its neighboring EU countries would be the first to suffer if Kiev’s continued attacksresult in an incident at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Aleksey Likhachev, CEO of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, has said.

Europe’s largest nuclear power plant has been targeted by Ukraine on multiple occasions since Russia took control of the facility in March 2022. On Saturday, a fiber-optics-guided drone struck the machine hall of ZNPP’s sixth power unit, puncturing a hole in the building. According to Rosatom, this was Kiev’s first “deliberate attack” on the station’s main equipment.

Ukrainian authorities have denied any involvement in the incident. Vladimir Zelensky said in April that the only way for Russia to guarantee security at the plant was to hand it over to Kiev.

Likhachev told journalists on Monday that“any explosion, any fire [at the plant] guarantees a loss of both power and water supplies to the reactor unit. And that isa precursor to a nuclear incident.”

If the ZNPP is hit with more powerful weapons such as heavy missiles, the=reactor vessel could well be destroyed, causing arelease of radiation that would then spread over a vast area, he warned.

“Ukraine and neighboring Western states are the first to be at serious risk” if this happens, the Rosatom chief added.

According to Likhachev, his conversation about the events at the ZNPP with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi later in the day will also serve as “an address to the leaders of European countries.”

“This whole radiation situation doesn’t respect national borders. By playing with fire and allowing the escalation of tensions around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the.leaders of European countries are clearly putting their people, their cities and their territories under a direct threat,” he noted.

The IAEA, which has its experts deployed at the ZNPP, previously acknowledged attacks on the facility, but stopped short of blaming Ukraine for them.

The plant has been operated by Rosatomsince Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions as well as the People’ Republics of Donetsk and Luganskvoted to join Russia in a referendum in the fall of 2022.

ONE of the missing people who worked at the laboratory known as the birthplace of the atomic bomb has been found dead nearly a year after she vanished.

Melissa Casias, 53, was one of the at least ten individuals with ties to nuclear and aerospace programs who have mysteriously disappeared or died.

Human remains discovered by a hiker in the Carson National Forest on Thursday have been positively identified as Casias’s, according to the New Mexico State Police.

Investigators revealed that a handgun was found near her remains.

“The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined,” state police said, adding that her remains will undergo additional anthropological examination.

Casias worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, which is known as the home of the secret Manhattan Project where the atomic bomb was created during World War II.

She was first reported missing on June 26, 2025 after she did not make it to work and failed to return home after visiting her daughter at work.

Casia’s disappearance has been tied to several people with ties to UFO research and nuclear and space programs who have gone missing or died under seemingly eerie circumstances, which has sparked conspiracy theories that there could be links between them.

One of the missing people includes Retired Air Force Major General William “Neil” McCasland, who worked at a military base with ties to UFO sightings and vanished in February.

Her family found that her personal belongings, such as her phones, purse and identification had been left behind, which made them concerned about her wellbeing.

An extensive search was launched where investigators learned both of her cell phones underwent a factory-reset and that she was spotted on a surveillance camera walking along a state road.

Officials previously conducted a search of Carson National Forest, which is roughly six miles from her home, where they found her shoes, according to private investigator and retired homicide detective Thomas McNally, who was hired by her family.

Casias is not the only person who worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory to go missing or die recently, 78-year-old Anthony Chavez, who retired from the lab, was reported missing in May 2025 and has yet to be found.

However, her McNally and her family have pushed back on the theories that she is part of the circle as she was not a scientist.

“She was an administrative assistant who was responsible for purchasing routine office supplies,” McNally told the New York Post.

Russia’s military pact with Afghanistan’s Taliban government stems from a pragmatic geopolitical approach to regional security, a policy expert has told RT India.

Moscow and the Taliban government signed a military cooperation pact last week, boosting a regional alliance aimed at strengthening Russia’s influence in Central Asia.

The deal was finalized during an international security forum in Moscow after a meeting between Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqoob.

“Since the Taliban is in charge of power in Afghanistan=… it is our duty to collaborate with them so as to contribute to regional security, to global security, to counter-terrorism==,” Gleb Makarevich, Research Fellow of the Center of the Indo-Pacific Region, The Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations, told RT India.

He said Russia seeks to improve ties with the current Afghan government to “invest in regional security in broader terms.”Central Asia is a region of utmost interest for Russia, Makarevich pointed out.

He agreed that, as the Western powers have largely disengaged from Afghanistan,Moscow is “demonstrating a pragmatic approach focused on regional security.”

“We are talking more about pragmatismbecause there are a lot of Soviet munitions and Russian munitions left in Afghanistan,”he said, noting that theTaliban is seeking assistance in repairing those arms and to collaborate in the defense sector.

Makarevich asserted thatMoscow’s approach is to seek regional solutionsto problems originating in these theaters,while acknowledging that Russia can’t resolve all those issues.

“The regional conflicts, we could bear in mind, should be decided by the parties involved themselves,” he said. “It is for (the) Afghan people to decide on their faith andnot for Russia to fuel their political vacuum,” Makarevich said.

NDAA Section 224 Aims To Fuse US & Israeli Military Industry

A provision buried within the National Defense Authorization Act would inextricably intertwine US and Israeli military assets.

At a time when the American public is expressing unprecedented levels of distrust in the Israeli government, Congress just proposed tying the US to the Israeli military more than ever before.

Buried in the House’s version of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) released on Tuesday, is section 224, entitled “United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative.” The provision would arguably do more to intertwine the US military with the Israeli military than the more than $200 billion (inflation adjusted) in military assistance Israel has received from the US since its founding in 1948.

Section 224 lays the groundwork for bilateral research and development, co-production of weapons, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and seemingly every manner of US-Israeli military-industrial complex cooperation. The US and Israel already work together heavily on missile defense, but this provision would greatly expand coordination to seemingly every area of defense tech, including AI, quantum, autonomous systems, directed energy, cyber, biotech, and many more. It also proposes “network integration” and “data fusion.” In other words, the US military’s data could soon be the Israeli military’s data.

If fully enacted, this proposal would provide a higher level of military-industrial integration than the US has with any other country in the world. To be sure, the US has worked closely with its NATO partners on co-production and shared supply chains, most notably via the Defence Production Action Plan. And, as the No. 1 arms dealer in the world, the US provides weapons to militaries across the globe. But that is mostly a one-way street, with the US providing weapons to foreign buyers who only occasionally make parts for those weapons themselves, as in the case of the F-35’s global supply chain.

Section 224 would be a different beast entirely. It would fuse the US and Israeli defense sectors in multiple areas vital to the battlefields of the future, like autonomous systems and cyber. It would also bring extraordinary Israeli influence to the US beyond what it already has through the Israel lobby and its robust network of social media influencers. It would give the Israeli government the opportunity to greatly expand one of the most powerful levers of influence in US politics: jobs in the US. By expanding or starting new co-production facilities like it already has in Mississippi and Arkansas, the Israeli government could boast of providing jobs on US soil, thereby securing allies among members of Congress who represent the districts where those jobs lie.

The result could well be a US political system even more susceptible to the whims of an Israeli government that seemingly has no qualms about drawing the US into military conflicts in the Middle East.

This unprecedented level of US-Israeli military integration stands in stark contrast to the traditional aid model of defense cooperation, in which Israel already stood out as the top recipient of US military assistance. As laid out in a recent Quincy Institute brief, authored by Steven Simon, this shift from an aid model to a military integration model has troubling implications, namely:

The shift will strip away the political and diplomatic oversight mechanisms that make the relationship publicly accountable, moving it from a visible annual aid vote into the opaque machinery of defense acquisition, where oversight is limited and political accountability is minimal. The result would be a defense relationship that is simultaneously deeper and less transparent.

This all comes at a time when the Israeli military has repeatedly used US weapons in strikes that have violated international humanitarian laws in Gaza, and as Israel has repeatedly violated ceasefires (as has the US itself) in the Trump administration’s unnecessary war with Iran.

PORTLAND, Maine — In case you missed it, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner is not just having a bad week.

He is having the kind of campaign meltdown that makes even seasoned political operatives reach for the exits.

Platner, the progressive oyster farmer and military veteran trying to unseat U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, has spent months attempting to sell himself to Maine voters as an authentic working-class outsider.

But the campaign now looks less like a political movement and more like a rolling opposition research file.

The latest controversy involvesreports of a sexually suggestive Kik account allegedly tied to Platner under the username “phustle0331,”a handle similar to usernames previously connected to him online. The account reportedly included a shirtless towel selfie and has been linked in national reporting to sexually explicit messages with multiple women during Platner’s marriage.

That revelation came after reports that Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, had previously alerted campaign staff about sexually explicit messages involving her husband before they became public.

For any normal campaign, that alone would be a five-alarm fire.

For Platner, it is just another entry on an already staggering list.

The Kik controversy follows months of damaging revelations involving deleted Reddit posts, crude sexual commentary, racially charged remarks, vulgar comments about women, public-restroom behavior, and posts that critics say raise serious questions about Platner’s judgment and character.

Then there is the tattoo.

Platner has acknowledged having a tattoo resembling the Nazi SS Totenkopf symbol, imagery historically associated with Hitler’s SS. He has claimed he did not understand the meaning of the tattoo when he got it while overseas and later covered it up after the controversy erupted.

That explanation has not satisfied many critics.

The tattoo scandal alone would be enough to cripple many statewide campaigns. But in Platner’s case, it became part of a broader pattern: deny, explain, apologize, deflect — then wait for the next damaging headline.

The damage has not been limited to media coverage.

It has reached inside the campaign itself.

Platner’s campaign has been hit by a series of senior staff departures that have only deepened the appearance of chaos.

Kevin Brown, a longtime friend of Platner who had joined as campaign manager, stepped down after only days in the role. Ronald Holmes III, the campaign’s national finance director, later resigned and publicly cited differences in “professional standards.” His departure came after the resignations of Brown and political director Genevieve McDonald.

That is not routine campaign churn.

That is senior staff fleeing a burning building.

Campaigns under pressure often lose junior aides. They do not usually shed top political, fundraising, and management staff in rapid succession unless something is seriously wrong behind the scenes.

And in Platner’s case, the timing is impossible to ignore.

These departures came as the campaign was already trying to manage fallout from his Reddit archive, tattoo scandal, and growing concerns among Democrats that their likely nominee had become politically radioactive.

If the people closest to a campaign keep walking away, voters are entitled to ask what they know that the public does not.

That question is especially damaging because Platner has built much of his campaign around trust, asking voters to believe his explanations, accept his apologies, and move past a decade-plus of ugly online behavior.

But trust is difficult to rebuild when each new controversy seems to reveal that the last explanation was only part of the story.

Democrats once hoped Platner could energize the left, attract national progressive money, and give Collins her toughest race in years.

Instead, he has handed Republicans a near-perfect attack package: a Nazi-linked tattoo, crude Reddit posts, veteran backlash, sexual messaging allegations, and a campaign operation hemorrhaging senior staff.

It is hard to imagine a more damaging combination.

Worse, the Platner debacle comes at a moment when Maine is already attracting national attention for all the wrong reasons.

Vice President JD Vance recently came to Maine and put a national spotlight on massive fraud concerns involving taxpayer-funded programs. At the same time, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows has drawn fierce criticism from parents and activists who say she failed to protect girls by blocking a ballot initiative aimed at preserving girls’ sports and private spaces.

Now add to that a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate facing questions about a Nazi-style tattoo, vulgar Reddit posts, sexually explicit allegations, and a campaign staff exodus.

It is no wonder people across the country are starting to ask: What is going on in Maine?

For a state that has long prided itself on decency, independence, common sense, and clean government, this is a bad look.

It brings more shame and embarrassment to Maine at a time when voters are already frustrated with political dysfunction, public corruption, and elected officials who appear more interested in protecting their own power than protecting the people they serve.

Platner’s defenders continue to argue that he has grown, changed, and deserves a chance to move forward.

But campaigns are not therapy sessions.

They are job interviews with voters.

And the job Platner is seeking is one of the most powerful offices in the country.

Mainers are not being asked to forgive a private citizen for youthful mistakes. They are being asked to send a man to the United States Senate after months of revelations that suggest poor judgment, reckless behavior, and a stunning lack of discipline.

At some point, the issue stops being whether Platner can survive another scandal.

The issue becomes why Democrats are still pretending this is normal.

A Senate campaign should be about the economy, border security, health care, housing, public safety, and the future of Maine.

Instead, Platner’s campaign is stuck answering questions about sexting, Reddit posts, a Nazi-style tattoo, porta potty comments, and staffers heading for the exits.

That is not a campaign message.

That is a warning sign.

For Democrats desperate to defeat Collins, Platner may have once looked like a fresh face.

Now he looks like a liability.

The infrastructure for the global digital control grid that was slowly being constructed over the past five years is now in the acceleration and implementation phase: perspective

There can be no globally shared AI infrastructure or digital embassies without giving data centers all the land, energy, and water they need, according to the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The plan is to build data centers in host countries that have all the money and resources to do so, and then allow other countries to access the AI infrastructure through what they call “digital embassies,” which grant them “AI sovereignty.”

And when it comes to building AI infrastructure, there are two categories of prerequisites that are “non-negotiable” — technical and institutional, according to the WEF and Bain and Company report, “AI Infrastructure in the Age of Sovereignty: Requirements, Strategies and a Trusted Framework for Digital Embassies.”

On the institutional side, it’s about policy, talent, and financing.

For the technical side, it’s all about feeding data centers with enormous amounts of energy, water, and land — enough to sustain the needs of entire cities — while access to this AI infrastructure will move beyond borders.

Once the AI infrastructure is built in the host countries, access is then given to other countries through what they call AI sovereignty.

According to the report, “AI sovereignty refers to the ability of economies to shape, deploy and govern AI ecosystems in accordance with their own values, while ensuring strategic and operational control, flexibility and, ultimately, resilience through a combination of localized investment and trusted international collaboration.”

But in order to facilitate access to the AI infrastructure via their AI sovereignty, digital embassies are required.

Speaking at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos in January, 2026, managing director Cathy Li made it quite clear that some countries should build and host the AI infrastructure while other countries should have sovereign access to it.
