NASA Says Something is “Brewing” in Ocean Waters Off the East Coast—And Recent Satellite Images Prove It

Something is invading the ocean waters off the northeastern U.S. coast, as revealed in recent satellite imagery.

For several weeks now, eerie green plumes have been swirling in the shallow waters of the Mid-Atlantic Bight, the region that spans the coastlines from Massachusetts to North Carolina.

Beginning in April, blue-green swirling patterns have appeared in NASA satellite imagery, resembling colored smoke billowing into the waters of Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay, and other shallow areas along the northeastern coast.

Such regions are known for their discoloration, which scientists specializing in remote sensing describe as “noisy” environments, due to sediments and other materials that flow from inland, carried by rivers that empty into the ocean and deposit microscopic particles.

According to NASA, the blending of organic matter into ocean water, driven by warmer weather, can help feed periodic blooms of phytoplankton, which create the stunning swirls of deep green and blue seen in satellite images of Earth.

“This mix creates optical complexity that has long made it harder for scientists to distinguish and categorize phytoplankton blooms in shallow coastal zones compared to the deeper, darker, more uniform waters of the open ocean,” said Adam Voiland in a recent update for NASA’s Earth Observatory.

For the last two years, the American space agency has been managing several missions to help it better characterize such conditions, including the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, Ocean Ecosystem (PACE).

Initiated in 2024, PACE collects information on the chemistry and ecology of our oceans using satellite imagery that observes ocean color worldwide.

The information PACE satellites gather can provide crucial insights into our planet’s carbon cycle and a range of other factors that often influence the size and duration of phytoplankton blooms.

The “optical complexity” Voiland describes is a particular challenge for scientists observing these phenomena in coastal regions such as the Mid-Atlantic Bight.

Did NASA’s public messaging fully reflect the seriousness with which portions of the U.S. government were actually treating the UFO phenomenon behind closed doors?

That question is becoming impossible to ignore as the Trump administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters — known as PURSUE — continues releasing previously hidden files involving unidentified anomalous phenomena, military encounters, radar tracking incidents, astronaut observations, and classified investigations spanning decades.

NASA itself still maintains there is no confirmed evidence proving extraterrestrial visitation or alien technology. Officially, that position has not changed. But what has changed dramatically is the surrounding context.

The newly released files reveal that numerous U.S. government agencies quietly treated portions of the phenomenon as serious enough to warrant classified investigations, intelligence monitoring, aerospace analysis, and national-security scrutiny for decades.

That reality stands in stark contrast to the dismissive public tone many Americans grew up hearing regarding UFO reports.

Historically, the public was often led to believe UFO sightings largely stemmed from weather balloons, optical illusions, atmospheric distortions, camera artifacts, misidentifications, or overactive imaginations.

Yet now, the same federal system that once minimized the issue is openly acknowledging unresolved encounters involving astronauts, military pilots, advanced radar systems, transmedium objects, and unidentified craft displaying capabilities not easily explained through conventional aerospace engineering.

The contradiction is not necessarily that NASA lied outright. The contradiction lies in tone. Certainty. Confidence.

For years, astronaut sightings involving unexplained lights or anomalous objects were routinely explained publicly as ice particles, reflected sunlight, orbital debris, or camera anomalies.

=Watch SpaceX launch secret US spy satellites to orbit from California today==

SpaceX will launch a batch of spy satellites for the U.S. government this evening (May 11), and you can watch the action live.

A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base today, on a mission for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) called NROL-172.

Launch will occur during a four-hour window that opens at 6:28 p.m. EDT (2228 GMT; 3:28 p.m. local California time). SpaceX will stream the event live via its website and X account, beginning about 10 minutes before liftoff.

NROL-172 will be the 13th launch devoted to building out a new reconnaissance network that the NRO, which operates the United States' fleet of spy satellites, calls its "proliferated architecture."

"To stay ahead of the competition and ensure it can continue to operate in a heightened threat environment, the NRO is modernizing its architecture in space and on the ground — delivering more capability faster with increased resilience," agency officials wrote in the NROL-172 press kit.

"A greater number of satellites — large and small, government and commercial, in multiple orbits — will deliver an order of magnitude more signals and images than is available today," they added.

The satellites for the new network are built by SpaceX and Northrop Grumman. We don't know exactly what they do, where they orbit or how many of them go up on each launch; the NRO has not released such information.

All of the proliferated architecture satellites have reached orbit atop Falcon 9 rockets flying out of Vandenberg, which sits on California's scenic but often foggy central coast. The first such launch, NROL-146, lifted off in May 2024. The most recent, NROL-105, took place this past January.

If all goes according to plan this evening, the Falcon 9's first stage will return to Earth 8.5 minutes after liftoff, touching down in the Pacific Ocean on the SpaceX drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You."

It will be the second launch and landing for this particular booster, according to a SpaceX mission description. SpaceX's livestream will end shortly thereafter, at the request of the NRO.

NROL-172 will be the 55th Falcon 9 launch of the year. The vast majority of the rocket's liftoffs so far in 2026 — 44 of 54 — have been dedicated to building out Starlink, SpaceX's broadband megaconstellation in low Earth orbit.

Over the course of the annual three-day gathering, the Front Door team, led by Director Vic Vigliotti, executed a packed schedule of industry engagements and shared a comprehensive map of how to navigate and succeed within the Space Force acquisition enterprise.

China launches Tianzhou-10—its largest resupply mission to the Tiangong space station

Fresh off the heels of the successful Tianzhou-9 mission, China launched the Tianzhou-10 cargo spacecraft from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on May 11, 2026, to deliver a brand new spacesuit, among other things, to the Tiangong space station.

The new spacesuit is expected to expand the scope of operations of the Taikonauts living aboard the Chinese orbiting laboratory. Combined with the remaining supplies and hardware, the contents of the cargo craft constitute the largest payload of all resupply missions since the station’s construction began, according to Yu Lei, the chief designer of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The brand new spacesuit is called Feitian. While the previous iteration of the suit had a lifespan stretching 15 spacewalks over three years, Feitian is expected to last 20 spacewalks over the span of four years.

The new spacesuit features airtight elbow and knee bearings for a wider range of movement. It also houses an improved life-support system with enhanced thermal comfort and a refined human-machine interface.

The Tianzhou-10 cargo payload weighs 6.3 tons in total, about 700 kilograms of which is a fresh batch of propellants for the space station.

Zheng Zehao, a researcher from the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, told the local outlet CCTV that the main structure of a new treadmill for exercising inside the station is also being delivered for in-orbit tests.

The Chinese space program has been known to make life for its Taikonauts as Earth-like as possible, and so part of the Tianzhou-10 cargo has fresh produce like apples, cherry tomatoes, green grapes, and flat peaches.

Zehao also mentioned that the spacecraft is carrying frozen steaks and chicken wings, which will further diversify the dining experience aboard the space station.

Similar to the Progress missions launched by Russia and NASA Commercial Resupply Services missions by US companies Northrop Grumman and SpaceX to the International Space Station, Tianzhou spacecraft are meant for shuttling a whole host of science equipment, spare parts, and consumables for the crew.

This was the fifth resupply to the relatively new space station. At the moment, the Tiangong space station is inhabited by the crew of Shenzhou-21, who are currently serving a month-long extension to their mission to test the resilience of the systems and humans on board the outpost.

The Iranian government has infiltrated the Biden administration and obtained access to sensitive U.S. government information, according to a coalition of Republican lawmakers who are investigating the matter.

Iran has repeatedly demonstrated in the past several months that it has access "to restricted U.S. State Department emails or government servers," according to a letter sent Wednesday to the White House by congressional Republicans and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The series of leaks, which have appeared in Iranian state-controlled propaganda outlets, "constitute a significant security breach of U.S. government property by a foreign adversary" and could indicate there is a mole inside the Biden administration, according to Reps. Kevin Hern (R., Okla.) and Joe Wilson (R., S.C.) and Sen. Bill Hagerty (R., Tenn.). The probe is being handled by the Republican Study Committee, Congress's largest Republican caucus, and could force the Biden administration into admitting Iran has breached sensitive U.S. networks.

The investigation comes on the heels of a bombshell report Tuesday by Semafor detailing a vast propaganda network linked to the hardline regime in Tehran. That network, known as the Iran Experts Initiative, allegedly includes senior Pentagon official Ariane Tabatabai, as well as other "influential overseas academics" who reported to Iran's foreign ministry and helped push Tehran's talking points with American policymakers. Several of those identified as members of the Iranian government-run network include former aides to U.S. Iran envoy Robert Malley, who was suspended from his post earlier this year for allegedly mishandling classified information.

In August, when news of Malley's suspension was just becoming public, the Tehran Times, a regime-controlled outlet, published reports containing what appeared to be sensitive U.S. government documents, including a "sensitive but unclassified" internal State Department letter that purportedly outlines why Malley's security clearance was revoked. Just a month later, the publication published audio of National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk discussing in a private meeting what the lawmakers' letter described as "national security options towards Iran."

How Iran Gained Influence In US Policy Centers

● The joint reporting project with Semafor is based on thousands of emails from Iranian diplomats

Three Iran experts who have worked closely with Robert Malley, the Biden administration’s special envoy on Iran, were members of an influence network formed and guided by Tehran, an investigation by Iran International shows.

The investigation was based on thousands of emails between Iranian diplomats and analysts obtained by Iran International, which shared them with Semafor. The two organizations jointly reported parts of this story together, and wrote and published their stories independently.

Malley has spent the past decade in and out of government, at times occupying crucial diplomatic posts. In between those stints, he has held a perch at the International Crisis Group, a major think tank. Of the three Iran experts, one of them worked for him at the State Department, one worked for him at the ICG and was an unofficial adviser when Malley was in government, and one worked for him only at the ICG.

Malley was put on leave in June, following the suspension of his security clearance amid an ongoing investigation. The exact cause of his suspension remains unclear.

This investigation offers new insights into internal operations of Iran's foreign ministry, especially during 2015 nuclear negotiations with world powers, and highlights the extent of Tehran’s campaign to gain influence in Washington and other Western capitals.

Documents reviewed by Iran International show the Iranian foreign ministry in 2014 initiated a network of overseas academics and researchers - called the Iran Experts Initiative (IEI) - to increase its influence on the global stage.

This is the first time the role of the IEI - which is also referred to as "the youth network" by Iranian diplomats - has been revealed.

President Bident named Malley to be his special envoy for Iran in 2021. Malley had previously served as a top diplomat in the President Obama administration. He helped to negotiate a 2015 landmark nuclear deal with Iran, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA. The accord, which aimed to curb Iran's nuclear activities, was abandoned by President Trump, who branded it as the worst deal ever and reinstated crippling sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

In February 2021, less than a month after his appointment as the Iran special envoy, Malley recruited Ariane Tabatabai, then the Middle East fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, for his State Department team to assist in negotiations with Iran. She served in that position for almost 15 months.

Malley also sought to appoint Ali Vaez, the Iran Project Director at the Crisis Group, to the government, but Vaez encountered an obstacle. According to two sources familiar with the situation and a former colleague - all of whom requested anonymity - Vaez could not obtain the necessary security clearance, leading to the cancellation of his expected appointment.

Despite this, Malley was undeterred, maintaining Vaez as a confidant. Until recently, according to two people familiar with the situation, Vaez drafted Malley’s tweets.

Although Malley viewed Tabatabai and Vaez as his trusted advisers, the investigation shows that the two analysts had undisclosed affiliations with the IEI.

Another Iran analyst, Dina Esfandiary, who was hired by Malley at the ICG in early 2021, was also a part of the IEI, according to the documents.

US State Department spokesman Matt Miller told Iran International that the Biden administration appointed Ariane Tabatabai to serve various roles in the United States government “because of her expertise on nuclear and other foreign policy issues”, and they were “honored to have her serve.”

Miller also said that they will not comment on “purported leaked Iranian government documents.”

Vaez’s and Esfandiary’s current employer, the ICG, said the Iranian government did not direct the research of their staff.

Malley did not respond to the request for comment. Another State Department spokesperson said “Rob Malley remains on leave. We have nothing further to share at this time due to privacy considerations.”

The emails, spanning from 2003 to 2021, were part of a trove of thousands belonging to Mostafa Zahrani, former director general of strategic affairs in the foreign ministry and advisor to former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The emails included passport copies, resumes, invitations to conferences, airplane tickets, visa applications, payment receipts, academic articles, and extensive correspondence with foreign ministry officials, university staff, and students, all of which helped in verifying their authenticity

Formation of Network

The formation of the Iran Experts Initiative was first proposed in 2014 by a Berlin-based Iranian diplomat, Saeed Khatibzadeh, a member of the in-house think tank of Iran’s foreign ministry - the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS).

He suggested to his superiors that by forming a network of Iranian analysts in “American and European think tanks”, and offering them “political support”, the Islamic Republic could promote its standpoint in the world.

The election of President Hassan Rouhani in 2013 and his détente policy with the West had created momentum to resolve the nuclear issue, and the initiative could help Tehran counter its image as a “pariah state”.

Khatibzadeh wrote in an email on March 5, 2014 to Majid Takht-Ravanchi, one of the leading Iranian nuclear negotiators, and Mostafa Zahrani, the head of the IPIS in Tehran: “This initiative which we call ‘Iran Experts Initiative (IEI)’ is consisted of a core group of 6-10 distinguished second-generation Iranians who have established affiliation with the leading international think-tanks and academic institutions, mainly in Europe and the US.”

Zahrani - a Revolutionary Guards member and a veteran diplomat - was instrumental in supporting the network and securing its funding, while acting as the main point of contact between the IEI members and Zarif.

Zahrani’s communications with almost a dozen Iranian analysts in Western think tanks between 2014 and 2021 showed how some of the analysts looked to Tehran for counsel. Tabatabai, for instance, sought Tehran’s advice on matters like visiting Israel or participating in conferences, while Vaez sent an article to the Iranian authorities for a pre-publication review.

Iranian foreign ministry, the IPIS, Zarif, Zahrani and Khatibzadeh did not respond to requests for comment.

The IPIS, which operates directly under the supervision of the Iranian foreign ministry, hosted a two-day conference in 2006 titled 'Review of the Holocaust: Global Vision' in Tehran. The conference drew criticism as it provided a platform for numerous Holocaust deniers and skeptics from around the world. Around 40 European and American research institutes severed ties with the IPIS because it hosted the conference.

Core Members

In an attachment to an email, Khatibzadeh first proposed a list of 21 Iranian analysts living abroad who he thought should join the IEI. Subsequent exchanges show the number of vetted individuals or those willing to cooperate was reduced to around 10.

Among the IEI top members was Ariane Tabatabai, currently chief of staff for Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations at US Department of Defense, and an official advisor to Robert Malley between 2021-2022, the documents show. She attended the nuclear negotiations in Vienna alongside Malley in 2021, according to a photo published by the Russian delegation.

In another email sent on March 11, 2014, Khatibzadeh told Zahrani: “This very idea of Iran Experts Initiative (IEI) was discussed between me and two of the young experts, we (you and me) met in the prague (sic) conference, i.e. Ariane Tabatabei (sic) and Dina Esfandiari (sic). We three agreed to be the core group of the IEI.”

The Ukrainian military has violated the Victory Day ceasefire more than 16,000 times since it took effect on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said Ukrainian forces had carried out drone and artillery strikes on civilian sites in Crimea, Belgorod Region, Kursk Region, Kaluga Region, Rostov Region, and Krasnodar Region.

In Belgorod alone, five civilians, including a teenager, were injured in Ukrainian drone attacks, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Ukrainian troops also carried out 676 strikes against Russian positions using artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, mortars, and tanks. Kiev’s forces launched 6,331 drone attacks and attempted eight assaults on Russian positions.

IIn total, the Russian MOD has recorded 16,071 ceasefire violations by Kiev’s forces since Friday, the statement said. Under those circumstances, Russian troops responded “symmetrically” by targeting firing positions, drone launch sites, and command centers.

Russian forces “continue to strictly observe the ceasefire regime and remain at previously occupied lines and positions,” the ministry stated.

The Victory Day truce announced by Russia last week to mark the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II was initially set to expire on Sunday, but following a proposal from US President Donald Trump, Moscow agreed to extend it for two more days.

Throughout the conflict, Moscow has repeatedly declared temporary truces during major religious and national holidays. Last month, Russia announced an Easter ceasefire, which the Defense Ministry said was violated by Ukrainian forces more than 6,500 times within 32 hours.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky issued several veiled threats ahead of the Victory Day celebrations, prompting Moscow to warn its foreign partners about the possible consequences.

The Russian Defense Ministry warned that a retaliatory strike on central Kiev would be carried out if attempts were made to disrupt Victory Day events in Moscow, and urged residents and diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital in advance.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the warning apparently reached Washington and contributed to Trump’s extended ceasefire initiative.

He also said that while the globalist faction of Western elites is still effectively waging war against Russia, using Ukrainians as proxies, the conflict is heading towards its end.

Putin says he thinks Russia-Ukraine war is coming to an end

MOSCOW, May 9 (Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin said on ​Saturday that he thought the Ukraine war was coming to an end, remarks that came just hours after he had vowed victory in Ukraine at Moscow's most ‌scaled-back Victory Day parade in years.

"I think that the matter is coming to an end," Putin told reporters of the Russia-Ukraine war, Europe's deadliest conflict since World War Two. He also said he would be willing to negotiate new security arrangements for Europe, and that his preferred negotiating partner would be Germany's former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.

Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine triggered the most serious crisis in relations between Russia and the West ​since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when many people feared the world was on the brink of nuclear war.

The Kremlin has said peace talks brokered by U.S. ​President Donald Trump's administration were on pause. Putin has repeatedly vowed to fight on until all of Russia's various war aims are achieved ⁠in what Moscow calls the "special military operation".

Putin was speaking in the Kremlin after setting out his view of the causes of the war. He blamed "globalist" Western leaders, saying they promised NATO ​would not expand eastward after the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall, but then tried to draw Ukraine into the European Union's orbit.

His statement came just hours after the parade on ​the May 9 national holiday celebrating the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two.

The annual event pays homage to the 27 million Soviet citizens who perished in that war.

Instead of the usual intercontinental ballistic missiles, tanks and missile systems rolling across the cobbles of Red Square, Russia played a video of its military hardware in action on giant screens opposite the Kremlin walls.

Russian troops have been fighting ​in Ukraine for well over four years. That is longer than Soviet forces fought in World War Two, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45.

WAR IN EUROPE

Putin, who ​has ruled Russia as president or prime minister since the last day of 1999, faces a wave of anxiety in Moscow about the war in Ukraine, which has killed hundreds of thousands of people, ‌left swathes ⁠of Ukraine in ruins, and drained Russia's $3 trillion economy. Russia's relations with Europe are worse than at any time since the depths of the Cold War.

Russian forces have so far been unable to take the whole of the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine where Kyiv's forces have been pushed back to a line of fortress cities. Russian advances have slowed this year, though Moscow controls just under one fifth of Ukrainian territory.

After Russia and Ukraine accused each other of violating unilateral ceasefires they had each declared over recent days, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ​from Saturday to Monday that was supported ​by the Kremlin and Kyiv. The two ⁠sides also agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners.

"I'd like to see it stop. Russia-Ukraine - it's the worst thing since World War Two in terms of life. Twenty-five thousand young soldiers every month. It's crazy," Trump told reporters in Washington.

He added that he would "like to see a big extension" ​of the ceasefire. There were no reports of violations of the ceasefire from either Moscow or Kyiv.

TALKS WITH SCHROEDER?

European Council President Antonio ​Costa said last week ⁠he believed there was "potential" for the EU to negotiate with Russia, and to discuss the future of the security architecture of Europe.

Asked if he was willing to engage in talks with the Europeans, Putin said the preferable figure for him was Schroeder.

"For me personally, the former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Schroeder, is preferable," Putin said.

European leaders have said Russia must be defeated ⁠in Ukraine and ​cast Putin as a war criminal and autocrat who they say could one day attack a NATO member ​if he is allowed to win the war. Russia dismisses such claims as nonsense.

Putin, who ordered troops into Ukraine in February 2022, casts European powers as warmongers for supporting Ukraine with tens of billions of dollars in support, ​weapons and intelligence.

Asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Putin said a meeting was possible only once a lasting peace deal was agreed.
