Speaking at the presidential palace in Minsk, Lukashenko discussed the Western political system, Belarus’ relations with neighboring countries, US President Donald Trump, and a range of other topics.

Leaders like French PresidentEmmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz “are all just temporary placeholders… They’re here today, gone tomorrow,” Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994 and is Europe’s longest-serving current leader, said.

“They’re just trying to grab something while they can. That’s the foundation of their policies,” he added, while highlighting his own style of governance.

The site produces diesel fuel meeting Euro-5 standards, fuel oil, vacuum gasoil, and aviation fuel. Its storage infrastructure includes dozens of vertical steel tanks with a combined capacity exceeding 1.5 million cubic meters.

The Tuapse refinery and its associated marine terminal have been repeatedly targeted since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to prior reports cited by Ukrainian and independent monitoring sources, the facility has been struck at least nine times since 2022, including attacks in 2025 and earlier this year.

Russian authorities stated that 112 drones were intercepted overnight, without disclosing how many reached their targets. Ukrainian officials have not commented on the latest strike.

The strike follows a similar attack on April 16, when drones hit the refinery’s primary oil processing unit ELOU-AVT-12 and fuel storage tanks. According to previous reporting, that fire burned for more than 42 hours before being extinguished.

Israeli maps plan to occupy southern Lebanon

The Israeli military has published a map outlining what it described as a “forward defense line” in southern Lebanon,despite calls for a full withdrawal following the announcement of a ceasefire.

The map, published days after a ceasefire with Hezbollah took effect, shows a new deployment line several kilometers beyond the Israeli border, encompassing dozens of villages abandoned as the Jewish state's troops invaded its neighbor, destroyed public infrastructure and killing some 3,700 people across the country, according to Lebanese authorities.

Israel and Lebanon agreed on Thursday to a US-brokered ten-day ceasefire to haltmore than a month of fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, following the first direct talks between the two sides in decades on April 14.

The deal is aimed at supporting broader US-Iran diplomacy, although Israeli look set to stay in southern Lebanon.

The deployment line shown on the map stretches from east to west around 5-10 kminside Lebanese territory from the border, where Israel says it plans to establish a buffer zone.

In a statement, the IDF outlined what it described as a “forward defense line” where its forces are operating in southern Lebanon, but did not specify the size of the area.

Israeli forces have destroyed villages in the area, saying the aim is to prevent “direct threats” to northern Israeli communities.It said five divisions and naval forces are currently operating south of the line to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure and prevent attacks against northern Israel.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday that homes along the border used by Hezbollah would be demolished,adding that “any structure threatening our soldiers and any road suspected of being planted with explosives must be immediately destroyed.” He added that the IDF has been ordered to use “full force” in Lebanon, even during the ceasefire, if it is threatened.

Hezbollah, which boycotted the Washington talks,has signaled conditional support for the ceasefire, demanding a full halt to attacks and an eventual Israeli withdrawal.

Israel launched airstrikes on Beirut and other cities and expanded what it described as a security zone in southern Lebanon in early March, following rocket fire by Hezbollah in support of Iran.Tehran has since made an end to Israeli operations in Lebanon a condition for a broader agreement with the US and Israel.

Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi Attia said on Saturday the recovery reflects the country’s continued efforts to repatriate “cultural antiquities that were illegally smuggled” abroad.

The items were handed over during a ceremony at the Egyptian Consulate General in New York. The recovered objects included an alabaster jar for oils and perfumes dating to the 7th century BC, as well as cosmetic containers shaped like animals from the Middle and New Kingdoms of Ancient Egypt.

The collection also features a statue of the goddess Isis depicted as Aphrodite from the second century AD, highlighting the blend of Egyptian and Greek cultural influences, along with a stone statue of a man named Ankh-en-Nefer from the Late Period.

The Egyptian side thanked their US counterparts for their role in the investigation. Officials said the case highlights the importance of international cooperation in “confronting the illicit trafficking of cultural property.”

Egypt has recently stepped up efforts to recover antiquities from abroad. Last November, Cairo also announced the recovery of 36 artifacts from the US, including a Roman-era mummy mask and a group of rare Coptic and Syriac manuscripts.

This is not happening in a vacuum. There has always been a deep hatred of Christianity in Israel. But the recent rise of a new virulent strain of Jewish supremacy has brought it to new heights. Here is a partial list of incidents:

1) There have been 111 hate crimes recorded against Christians recorded in 2024, including 46 physical assaults. Then a total of 181 incidents in 2025, representing a 63% rise in harassment. It is believed most incidents are not reported. The Rossing Center documented 61 physical attacks in 2025 alone, involving hitting, pushing, and the use of pepper spray against identifiable clergy.

2) Spitting is the most common form of harassment, accounting for 60% to 80% of all recorded incidents in Jerusalem's Old City. A significant portion of these attacks (43%) target the Armenian Quarter and the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem.

3) In 2023, footage went viral showing ultra-Orthodox Jews spitting on the ground as Christian pilgrims carrying a cross began a procession from the Church of the Flagellation in Jerusalem's Old City. Five suspects were subsequently arrested.

4) In 2024, an elderly Christian woman in the West Bank suffered a fractured skull after a confrontation with settlers grazing livestock on her land; her home was later attacked.

5) That year a break-in occurred at a Catholic retreat house in northern Israel where sacred items were damaged and replaced with Jewish religious objects.

6) In 2023 more than 30 graves—including those of significant historical figures, were smashed by two suspects wearing religious Jewish attire. The incident was captured on video and widely condemned as a clear hate crime.

6) In 2026 senior Catholic clergymen, including the Latin Patriarch, were temporarily blocked by police from reaching the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Palm Sunday Mass. Israeli forces reportedly assaulted and beat Christian worshippers and pilgrims attempting to reach the Church.

7) The Christian town of Taybeh in the West Bank experienced multiple targeted attacks, including arson, armed incursions, and racist graffiti.

8) The IDF has repeatedly hit churches in Lebanon. The St. George Melkite Catholic Church was completely destroyed in 2024. The attack killed at least eight people who were using the church as a shelter. A priest’s house and parish offices were also leveled.

9) Two Maronite pastors, Fr. Pierre Al-Rai (Qlayaa) and Fr. Maroun Ghafari (Alma al-Shaab), were killed in recent months during strikes on their respective villages.

10) Israel has repetaedly hit Christian sites in Gaza. At least 3 churches have been destroyed or severely damaged by the occupation. Heritage sites like St. Porphyrius (one of the oldest in the world) and the Byzantine Church of Jabalia have suffered severe damage, described by archaeologists as some of the worst destruction of heritage they have witnessed.

11) Since late 2023, the Armenian community has been locked in a high-stakes legal battle over a "secret" lease of approximately 25% of the Armenian Quarter (the "Cows' Garden") to an Israeli investor for luxury hotel development. Armenians have maintained a constant sit-in protest to block bulldozers and have faced intimidation from armed private security guards.

12) In 2024 and 2025, Jerusalem municipalities threatened to freeze church bank accounts over alleged tax debts, a move Christian leaders called a "coordinated attack" designed to weaken their institutions' financial viability.

13) In southern Lebanon, predominantly Christian villages like Alma al-Shaab have been largely emptied, with residents sleeping in churches for safety before being forced into mass displacement. Some local leaders have explicitly appealed to the Vatican, stating their villages have no military activity but are still being targeted.

The war Israel has declared on Christianity has had serious effects. The climate of hostility has led to a measurable impact on the community's future. A 2025 Rossing Center survey found that nearly half of Christians under 30 in the region have considered emigrating due to systemic discrimination and safety concerns. The Number Of Dead Iranian Protesters Keeps Changing Because It’s A Fictional Story

In online discourse with empire apologists these past few months I’ve been told that the number of dead protesters is thirty thousand, forty thousand, fifty thousand, sixty thousand, seventy thousand, eighty thousand, ninety thousand, and a hundred thousand.

The most common pro-war talking point about Iran is that they massacred tens of thousands of protesters in January of this year — but what’s funny is that they never cite the same number. Because it’s a completely fictional story, they can just make up any number they want.

In online discourse with empire apologists these past few months I’ve been told that the number of dead protesters is thirty thousand, forty thousand, fifty thousand, sixty thousand, seventy thousand, eighty thousand, ninety thousand, and a hundred thousand.

They really do seem to just throw out whatever number feels believable in a given moment. I recently saw an exasperated Glenn Greenwald ask an interlocutor on Twitter, “How do you decide when to claim that Iran killed 30,000 protesters, or 45,000, or 70,000? Does it depend on the day of the week or lyrical flow or something else?”

Iranian regime change muppet Reza Pahlavi claimed in January that 50,000 protesters had been massacred by the Iranian government that month.

Notorious Korean propagandist Yeonmi Park put the number at 40,000.

In February, President Trump said it was 32,000. By April he had inflated that number to 45,000, and then later climbed it up to 60,000.

Last month I saw The Australian’s Cameron Stewart swelling the number to 80,000.

In February there was a viral tweet by a propaganda account called The Persian Jewess asserting that “90,000 protesters have been killed to date,” while right wing influencer Nicholas Lissack said it was actually 100,000.

The other day someone commented on a post of mine telling me “Iran killed over 40k protesters standing up for freedom,” and when I dismissed that claim another empire apologist came in and adjusted the number to 30,000.

The reason they can’t settle on a number is because it’s all made up.

Nobody denies that thousands of people were killed in the January unrest; the Iranian government itself has stated that 3,117 people were killed in the violent clashes, including large numbers of security forces. Given that the US Treasury Secretary has repeatedly admitted that the US deliberately fomented the unrest in Iran, and given that Trump has admitted to sending weapons into the country with the goal of arming the protesters, and given that Trump’s previous secretary of state has suggested that Mossad was intimately involved in the so-called “peaceful protests”, it was inevitable that people were going to be killed.

But the war propagandists couldn’t be content with a few thousand deaths. They needed something more spectacular. Something sensational. So they started circulating thinly-sourced reports by shady individuals claiming the body count was much higher than acknowledged, and then further inflating the numbers in those reports.

And when they did this it made it clear that they’ve been lying about the whole thing, because anyone can see the numbers going all over the place depending on who happens to be speaking and what kind of mood they happen to be in. They made a classic blunder in fiction writing, as explained in a viral post that was doing the rounds on Tumblr a few months ago:

Indonesian fishers found a torpedo-like object in the waters north of Gili Trawangan, Lombok, on April 6. The exact coordinates of the discovery and the object’s direction of travel are unknown.

Much else remains speculative: whether it was moving within Indonesia’s archipelagic sea lane (ALKI II) in the Lombok Strait or outside it, what activity it was conducting, and whether the object is attributable to a state.

Speculation persists that the object is an unmanned underwater drone linked to a Chinese company. The investigation continues.

Under international law, all ships enjoy the right of innocent passage through Indonesian territorial and archipelagic waters, and the right of archipelagic sea lanes passage (ASLP) through routes normally used for international navigation in Indonesian archipelagic waters and the adjacent territorial sea (whether designated or not).

But those rights belong only to a ship. This raises the threshold question: does the object found off Lombok qualify as a “ship” under international law, and is it therefore entitled to any navigation rights through Indonesian waters at all?

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) never defines “ship”, but the rules it prescribes reveal the drafters’ assumptions.

The innocent passage regime, for instance, requires a vessel to navigate on the surface, fly its flag, observe international collision regulations, comply with coastal state laws, and follow designated sea lanes and traffic separation schemes.

All of these presuppose a vessel that is visible, identifiable, and capable of following passage rules and communicating with external parties.

The object found off Lombok likely fails on every count. According to media reports, it bears some Chinese characters meaning “research and development” and the logo “CSIC”, which is associated with China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, but no flag is visible.

There is no indication it can surface on command, identify itself, follow passage rules, or respond to Indonesian authorities. If the object is not a ship, Indonesia may intercept and confiscate it.

However, this would put Indonesia at odds with major powers that recognize unmanned underwater vehicles as ships.

Even if the object qualifies as a ship, what it was doing remains unknown. That matters because passage loses its innocent character if the vessel conducts “research” or “survey,” or anything else “not having a direct bearing on passage”.

The same prohibition applies to ASLP. A vessel transiting through the Lombok Strait, which falls under Indonesia’s ALKI II, may not conduct any research or survey without Indonesia’s prior authorization. Either way, the object’s equipment points squarely toward exactly that kind of activity.

It was reportedly fitted with underwater sensors, sonar, and oceanographic cables, and found to contain an acoustic Doppler current profiler. Police described it as bearing “characteristics commonly found in underwater observation or survey equipment”.
