Kokkalis was the son of Socrates P. Kokkalis Sr., the founder of Intracom, a Greek telecommunications company that is the largest of its kind in southeastern Europe, Cleveland.com reported. The company employs some 5,700 workers, its website stated. The billionaire is also a board of directors member of Olympiacos F.C., a Greek professional soccer club. The younger Kokkalis served as a vice president with the team, which released a statement regarding Kokkalis’ death.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has issued a 10-year Prohibition Order (PO) against Tim Leissner, a former director of Goldman Sachs (Singapore) Pte (GS S’pore).

MAS said in December 2016, MAS served notice of its intention to issue a PO against Leissner and invited him to submit written representations as to why a PO should not be made against him.

Leissner was found to have issued in June 2015 an unauthorised letter to a financial institution based in Luxembourg, and to have made false statements on behalf of Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C., without the firm’s knowledge.

MAS has decided to issue a PO for a period of 10 years against Leissner with effect from 13 March 2017.

Leissner will be prohibited for a period of 10 years from: (i) performing any regulated activity under the Securities and Futures Act and (ii) taking part, directly or indirectly, in the management of any capital market services firm in Singapore.

Under a PO, a person is banned from performing any regulated activity under the Securities and Futures Act and taking part, directly or indirectly, in the management of any capital market services firm in Singapore.

MAS has also served notice of its intention to issue POs against three other individuals who were investigated by the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) on 1MDB-related matters, and consequently convicted by the Courts in Singapore.

The three individuals are Jens Fred Sturzenegger, former branch manager of Falcon Private Bank Ltd, Singapore branch (Falcon Bank), as well as Yak Yew Chee and Yvonne Seah Yew Foong, both of whom were former employees of BSI Bank Limited (BSI Bank).

Given the gravity of their misconduct, MAS intends to issue lifetime POs against Sturzenegger and Yak, and a 15-year PO against Seah.

Sturzenegger was responsible for ensuring the sound management of Falcon Bank and its compliance with regulations, notices and directives issued by MAS, as well as any other relevant laws and regulations.

On 11 January 2017, Mr Sturzenegger was convicted on several charges, which included (i) consenting to Falcon Bank’s failure to file any suspicious transaction report on the inflows into Falcon Bank; (ii) failing to disclose information on suspicious outflows from Falcon Bank; and (iii) furnishing false information to MAS and CAD to cover up his relationship with Mr Low Taek Jho as well as his knowledge of Mr Low’s involvement in the bank accounts maintained by Falcon Bank.

MAS has also served notice of its intention to issue POs against Yak and Ms Seah, former representatives of BSI Bank.

Ong Chong Tee, Deputy Managing Director (Financial Supervision), MAS, said, “MAS will not tolerate conduct by any finance professional that threatens to undermine trust and confidence in Singapore’s financial system.

Leissner was a representative of GS S’pore from June 2002 to February 2016, and a director of GS S’pore from June 2007 to September 2011.  However, from November 2011 onwards, Mr Leissner was based in Hong Kong.

Under the Representatives Notification Framework, Yak was an appointed representative of BSI Bank from November 2010 to May 2015, while Seah was an appointed representative of BSI Bank from November 2010 to December 2015.

Russia wants to question Christopher Steele, Michael McFaul, top politicians for aiding Bill Browder

Russia’s prosecutor general will demand interviews with American congressmen, security services staff, and other high-profile individuals as it seeks to involve the US in its investigation into convicted financier Bill Browder.

Moscow accuses Browder of illegally taking $1.5 billion out of Russia and fabricating evidence that led to the passing of the sanctions-imposing Magnitsky Act. As part of the investigation, the prosecutor general wants to speak to ex-MI6 agent Christopher Steele, author of the notorious Trump dossier, and former ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul, who campaigned on behalf of Browder.

Other persons of interest on what Russia said was an incomplete list included David Kramer, former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor and president of think tank Freedom House, and the billionaire Ziff brothers, who are described as "Browder's long-standing partners in crime."

This was announced by Aleksandr Kurennoy, the head of the mass media department of the prosecutor general’s office in Moscow, who said that Russia was ready to share its findings with US law enforcement agencies “on even terms.”

The announcement follows hot on the heels of a proposal made by Vladimir Putin during his press conference with Donald Trump in Helsinki on Monday, in which he offered to “meet US authorities half-way” and allow the Mueller investigation into Moscow’s election meddling to interview suspects in Russia, “on the condition” that Russian investigators could speak to suspects in the Browder investigation. Russia has previously tried to extradite Browder and gain access to others, but without success, though the businessman was briefly arrested in Spain in May, before being set free.

Browder responded to Putin's words in the Washington Post, claiming that the Russian leader's offer meant he was “rattled” by Browder’s accusations of corruption against Moscow officials.

US-born Browder made a fortune as an investor in Russia, starting in the 1990s, but was barred from entering the country in 2005, and has since become an arch-critic of the Kremlin. His allegations over the treatment of one of his staff, Sergei Magnitsky, while in custody, led to the sanctioning of select Moscow officials in the 2012 Magnitsky Act, but the legislation has since been expanded and can be applied to any foreign official, who is deemed to have violated human rights.

Browder was convicted in Russia in absentia in 2013 for fraud and tax evasion, and again, at the end of last year.

The 54-year old investor has also been a prominent voice in the Mueller investigation itself, though it does not concern him directly, and he submitted a scathing testimony about Russia to the US Senate a year ago.
