Each state has a chief election official who has ultimate authority over elections in the state.

24 states

have an ELECTED secretary of state as the chief election official—

Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington and Wyoming.

Two states—Alaska and Utah—

have an ELECTED lieutenant governor as the chief election official.

Three states—Maine, New Hampshire and Tennessee—

have a chief election official SELECTED by the legislature.

Five states—Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas—

have a chief election official APPOINTED by the governor. In all but Delaware, the chief election official is called the secretary of state; in Delaware the position is Commissioner of Elections.

Fox News played an interview of Dominion Voting Systems spokesperson Michael Steel Sunday morning. From the get-go, the “interview” was framed as a debunking session for “conspiracy theories” being exposed by President Trump’s attorneys, particularly Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani.

Here’s how the stage was set by Fox News anchor Eric Shawn:

“One of the claims of election fraud that’s been disputed centers on Dominion Voting Systems,” Shawn began. “The machines are used in 28 states. You know, the company has repeatedly denied allegations of switched votes, foreign or Democratic Party influence, secret tampering, but its responses have done little to dampen skeptics even though the head of the Department of Homeland Security Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency, Christopher Krebs, was fired for reporting quote, ‘There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.’ The President called that quote highly inaccurate.”

Before even asking a question, the Fox News host established innocence for Dominion, credibility for their claims through Christopher Krebs, and criticism for President Trump for firing him. It’s a public relations masterpiece and they were just getting started.

“With us now is Michael Steel, a principal with the Washington, D.C., firm Hamilton Places Strategies, which is representing Dominion,” Shawn continued.

Steel is a partner with Hamilton Places Strategies. His political history is crowned through his work with three of the most notorious Republican Establishment and Trump-hating men in America. He was Press Secretary for Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, Press Secretary for Speaker of the House John Boehner, and Senior Advisor for Policy and Communications for the 2016 Jeb Bush Presidential campaign.

“The first question people want to know, did a Dominion machine change one vote from Biden to Trump or from Trump to Biden?” Shawn asked.

Steel responded with an immediate half-truth. “No. This is a non-partisan American company. It is not physically possible for our machines to switch votes from one candidate to the other.”

What Steel did not mention is that shortly after testifying before the Senate in January, Dominion released a correction to their testimony that stated many of their machines had remote access capabilities. He was also accurate when he said the company he’s representing has no known connections with Kathmandu. The rest of what he said is comprised of lies. Even CNN had to acknowledge a connection to Venezuela in their attempt to debunk a connection to Venezuela, George Soros, and the Clinton Foundation.

He repeated the lie about Venezuela later in the interview. How can he do this? Because Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic are in the process of hiding all ties between the companies. As CNN reported, Smartmatic is the originator of Dominion and had direct ties to Venezuela.

Later in the interview, Steel claimed Dominion’s machines were rejected by Texas was because they were too complex for Texans. Seriously.

“Well, look, the great thing about our system is that every state gets to certify their own equipment,” Steel said. “Texas being Texas is a little bit different. They were afraid that our system was a little too complex and they chose to go elsewhere.”

The rest of the “interview” reads like an exercise in the proper use of propaganda for gaslighting. Shawn played his role as skeptical, smirking host perfectly while Steel had his prepared answers to preordained questions ready to unleash. As our EIC noted on Twitter:

The organic and colorized shapes likely get processed as separate splines/features, but the grayscale blocks likely merge to form different splines within the algo, meaning it is more probable to defeat it.

Airbnb Executive Resigned Last Year Over Chinese Request for More Data Sharing

Company says it declined to disclose more details with China and is transparent with users; former FBI official was told by co-founder, ‘We’re not here to promote American values’

Doing business in China, which imposes some data-sharing requirements on companies, has sparked debate among Airbnb’s leadership for some time.

When it filed to go public this week, Airbnb Inc. said that its ability to continue doing business in China is a risk factor for its brand and profitability.

Operating in the country has sparked debate among the home-sharing startup’s senior leadership for some time, leading a top executive to depart abruptly last year, according to people familiar with the company.

Airbnb hired Sean Joyce, a former deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in May of 2019 as its first “chief trust officer,” a role that entailed protecting users’ safety on the platform.

He resigned six months later over concerns about how the massive rental platform shares data on millions of its users with Chinese authorities, the people said.

A high-profile hire for Airbnb, Mr. Joyce grew alarmed during his tenure that the company wasn’t being fully transparent about the data it shares with the ruling Chinese Communist Party government, including for Americans traveling in the country, these people say. He also was concerned about what he viewed as Airbnb’s willingness to consider more expansive data requests from China, the people familiar said.

Airbnb has told users since 2016 that it shares information with Chinese authorities, according to a review of its communications. Even so, Mr. Joyce believed most people using the platform weren’t aware of the extent of the data shared, which included phone numbers, email addresses and messages between users and the company, two of these people said.

Nick Papas, a spokesman for Airbnb, said the company complies with applicable laws, regulations and requirements when responding to requests for data, similar to Western hotel chains operating in China.

“We are committed to being transparent with our community, and clearly disclose our data policies to all of our hosts and guests by displaying a clear message to users when they are on the platform and through multiple other notifications,” Mr. Papas said in a statement. The data policies were in place before Mr. Joyce joined “and continue to this day,” he said.

Reached by The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Joyce said he had a “difference in values” with Airbnb. He declined to comment further.

In the summer of 2019, Chinese officials approached Airbnb with an unwritten request for more user data, including more “real-time data,” such as when a user first makes a reservation, said one person familiar with the matter.

Mr. Joyce worried such data-sharing would enable Chinese government surveillance and put members of minority ethnic groups such as repressed Muslim-majority Uighurs at risk, that person said.

He voiced his concerns to senior executives, including in a summer 2019 meeting that included Chief Executive Brian Chesky and co-founder Nathan Blecharczyk, who leads Airbnb’s China unit, the people familiar with the matter said. While the executives were sympathetic to Mr. Joyce’s concerns, one of these people said, the discussion came at a moment when executives feared they might not be allowed to continue operating the company’s large business in China.

“We’re not here to promote American values,” Mr. Blecharczyk told Mr. Joyce, according to people familiar with the conversation. Mr. Joyce resigned weeks later.
