Report: Congressional Black Caucus Blocking Black Republican Byron Donalds from Joining

Freshman Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) has been blocked from joining the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), according to a report.

The caucus has been blocking the black Republican from membership, according to a source familiar with the CBC’s plan who told BuzzFeed News.

BuzzFeed noted that it had been nearly six months since the new freshman class from the previous election were inducted into the Congress, adding that the group is a “powerful and nominally nonpartisan group of black lawmakers in Congress.”

Though there is not currently a Republican member in the group, according to their official website. Donalds, who won his election in November for the first time, has not been included in that group.

Donalds’ office told BuzzFeed that the congressman has spoken with at least three members of the group about joining, but he has not received an answer, and the chances of joining nearly a quarter way into the 117th Congress look slim.

An aide to Donalds said, “Congressman Donalds has expressed interest in joining the CBC but has yet to receive an official invitation.”

“If given, he’d gladly accept. The CBC did not respond to questions about the status of Donalds’ membership or why he was not being let in,” the aide said.

Donalds said in February he wanted to join in order to change the caucus’s liberal dominance. His goals were to have membership in both the majority Democrat’s Congressional Black Caucus and the conservative House Freedom Caucus. Politico reported that Donalds said that both groups are a natural fit for him.

This shows the divide growing further in Congress between members of both parties since January. Donalds was one of the many Republicans that voted against certifying the electoral college.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) had declined an invitation from the group in 2010 when he was first elected to Congress as a member of the House. When he became a “Rep.-elect,” he said he would not be joining since his “campaign was never about race.”

Former Rep. Mia Love (R-UT) in 2012 said she wanted to dismantle the caucus since she claimed they “ignite racism.” In 2015 she ended up joining the group of Black lawmakers. Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), who now holsa Love’s old seat, told the Wall Street Journal before winning that he did not have plans to join the CBC.

The report added that it is awkward for the leaders of the Tri-Caucus when a Republican looks to join one of them, noting that Congressional Hispanic Caucus’s (CHC) bylaws exclude non-Democrats. In 2017 the group denied membership to former Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL). The same rules are still in play.

A spokesperson for the CHC said, “Per Congressional Hispanic Caucus bylaws, all Democratic Members of Congress of Hispanic descent are eligible for CHC membership.”

Meatpacker JBS says it paid equivalent of $11 mln in ransomware attack

Meatpacker JBS USA paid a ransom equivalent to $11 million following a cyberattack that disrupted its North American and Australian operations, the company's CEO said in a statement on Wednesday. The subsidiary of Brazilian firm JBS SA (JBSS3.SA) halted cattle slaughtering at all of its U.S. plants for a day last week in response to the cyberattack, which threatened to disrupt food supply chains and further inflate already high food prices. The cyberattack followed one last month on Colonial Pipeline, the largest fuel pipeline in the United States. It disrupted fuel delivery for several days in the U.S. Southeast.

Ransom software works by encrypting victims' data. Typically hackers will offer the victim a key in return for cryptocurrency payments that can run into hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. The FBI said earlier this month that the agency was investigating about 100 different types of ransomware. read more

The JBS meat plants, producing nearly a quarter of America's beef, recovered faster than some meat buyers and analysts expected. "This was a very difficult decision to make for our company and for me personally," said Andre Nogueira, CEO of JBS USA on the ransom payment. "However, we felt this decision had to be made to prevent any potential risk for our customers."

Wisconsin Republican Legislative Members’ Actions Show They Believe the 143,000 Biden Ballots Dropped at 3am on Nov 4 Are Fine

Let’s face it, the Wisconsin Republican legislature is fine with the 2020 Presidential results in their state. This shows in the manner they have addressed the massive fraud that occurred in the 2020 election.

The Wisconsin legislature which is run by the Republicans has announced various actions in response to the illicit actions that occurred in the 2020 Election in their state. According to local FOX11 the legislature wanted to address through new legislation, the following:

1. They want to ban municipalities from accepting outside grants for elections like those provided by Mark Zuckerman to various localities through a non-profit before the 2020 election.

2. They want to only allow absentee ballot drop boxes to be attached to the clerk’s office.

3. They want to allow election observers to stand within 3 feet of tables, rather than 3 to 8 feet away or not at all as occurred in 2020.

The legislature in a press release also mentions three more initiatives from the election:

4. They no longer will allow individuals to automatically receive ballots for every election. Voters will be limited to only submit an absentee ballot application for a primary and its accompanying general election.

5. They want to ban clerks from using the envelope for absentee ballots to double as the required written application to receive one. Clerks who provided an absentee ballot without the required written application would be guilty of a felony,

6. They want to require voters to fill out a statement with a municipal clerk to be granted indefinitely confined status. That includes a declaration they are confined due to age, physical illness or infirmity. Those who have the status would have to separately apply for a clerk to automatically send them a ballot for every election in the calendar year in which their application is filed. Currently, someone who signs a statement declaring they are indefinitely confined is automatically sent an absentee ballot every election.

These initiatives to make the election process more free and fair are fine, but they have to be signed by the governor who is a Democrat. They may all be pipe dreams.

In mid-May, the Legislature announced they were going to have an audit of the 2018 results which will be performed by “a non-partisan body”.

Germany introduces new digital Covid-19 immunity certificate

Germany has unveiled a new digital immunity certificate that will be available alongside the paper ones already in use. The digital version is expected to make it easier for people to prove their Covid-19 vaccination status.

The new certificate, dubbed ‘CovPass’, was presented by Health Minister Jens Spahn on Thursday. It will become available to the public starting next week.

“The point is to get this paper into the device,” Spahn said during a news conference, showing reporters an analog vaccination certificate and a smartphone displaying its digital form. The new pass is expected to be significantly more convenient to use, and people will be easily able to prove their immunity status, according to the minister.

“For those whose job it is to check, like in restaurants or in retail, there’s an app that makes it possible to read and verify the relevant certificates,” he stated.

The digital certificate will be available through its namesake mobile app, CovPass, as well as through the older Corona Warn app. The main difference between the new app and its older counterpart is that it doesn't have contact-tracing functionality.

The digital certificates will be issued to Germans when they receive their second Covid-19 jab. The CovPass certificates will be also available retroactively, with people who have already been fully vaccinated able to get the digital pass at pharmacies across the country.

The new certificates are not meant to be a replacement for the paper vaccination booklets already in use. While these will remain the main document for immunity status, the digital pass is designed more for convenience and will be able to be used for future travel in Europe.

The unveiling of CovPass comes a day after the EU Parliament approved the use of digital Covid-19 certificates within the bloc, new rules set to come into effect on July 1 and last for 12 months.

The EU-valid certificates may come in both paper and digital forms, but they must have a QR code so authorities can easily access a person’s data. The certificates are expected to include information on whether someone has been fully vaccinated with shots approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and whether they contracted coronavirus previously or have tested negative for the disease.

BlackRock, in its investor day presentation on Thursday, said alternative investments - including private equity, real estate, hedge funds and venture capital - can offer a market-beating edge. BlackRock, which manages $279 billion in alternative assets, said its portfolio advisory business is moving away from the traditional model of a 60% equity, 40% fixed income breakdown in portfolios in favor of a 50% public equity, 30% bonds and 20% private markets split. Haitian Migrants Are Bused to Second West Texas Town for Release amid Overcrowding

DEL RIO, Texas — Haitian migrants apprehended locally are now be transported to nearby Eagle Pass for release, a CBP source speaking on the condition of anonymity tells Breitbart Texas.

The source says Haitian migrants are now being moved to a local non-governmental shelter to limit visibility and public scrutiny in Del Rio. On Wednesday, Haitian migrants could be observed at the Mission Border Hope shelter preparing for transit and release.

The shelter provides a privacy-screened outdoor recreation area and most migrants rarely exit until they board transportation.

Rather than waiting for inland transportation in Del Rio, the mostly Haitian migrants are now being placed in a re-purposed yellow school bus. As of press time, the owner/operator of the bus is unknown. There are no noticeable Texas Department of Transportation identifiers on the vehicle.

Breitbart Texas spoke to one local transportation industry owner/operator who is not happy with the move. The owner of a tour van company in Eagle Pass says he wonders if the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected and if the requisite insurance is on file.

“This is alarming, we have been in business offering transportation to clients for years. Our fleet is properly registered, and we have insurance to protect our customers,” he says. “This method of public transportation looks strange to me,” he added.

Border Patrol in the Del Rio Sector is dealing with the influx of large Haitian groups illegally entering almost daily. According to a law enforcement source within CBP, a “large group” in excess of 100 was apprehended on Monday.

The Hugh Hewitt Show recently interviewed Dr. Francis Collins, the current director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In the interview, Collins admits to funding gain-of-function coronavirus engineering at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. He even defended the Chinese scientists and downplayed their connection to the Chinese Communist Party! Collin’s confession further incriminates his colleague and friend, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the longstanding director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID).

At a Senate hearing on May 11, 2021, Dr. Anthony Fauci answered questions about gain-of-function research. Fauci repeatedly and authoritatively denied that he and his colleague, Francis Collins, funded the Wuhan lab. Fauci tried to dissociate the NIH and the NIAID from having any connection to coronavirus gain-of-function research, even though the money and research trail was revealed by Senator Rand Paul.

"We have heard from everybody with the exception of the White House," Bryan Fenster says in an interview with NBC News. Danny Fenster managing editor of Frontier Myanmar, one of the country's top independent news sites was detained while preparing to fly to Malaysia.

10:00 p.m. Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, speaking by phone with Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi, calls for the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar announced at the April summit of leaders from Association of Southeast Asian Nations members. Motegi confirms Japan's continued support for ASEAN initiatives toward Myanmar including humanitarian assistance, and he cites the importance of Myanmar's junta releasing individuals held in detention, according to a readout from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

10:45 a.m. Local media outlet Irrawaddy reports that a plane crashed in the Mandalay region's township of Pyin Oo Lwin in the morning, killing 12 people. About 16 were on board, and one woman and a child were injured. The type of plane that went down and the cause of the crash remain unknown.

They are groundless," adding that the detained leader "might have defects, but personal greed and corruption [are] not her traits."The two ministers also agree to work together in responding to Myanmar's political situation.

9:30 a.m. Myanmar's state-run Global New Light newspaper reports that ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been charged with additional counts under the country's anti-corruption law, with the Anti-Corruption Commission accusing her of "illegally accepted $600,000 and 7 visses (11.2 kg) of gold from the former Yangon region's chief minister," and adding that she "misused her authority in renting 1.86 acres (0.55 hectare) of land and a building" to open a charitable foundation, which she chairs, resulting in losses to the country of more than 5.2 billion kyat ($3,150). The newspaper, which is seen as a mouthpiece of the junta, also says that two other former officials have been charged under the law.

French and Swiss central banks to trial wholesale digital currencies

The Swiss National Bank and the Bank of France will trial Europe's first cross-border central bank digital currency payments, the banks said on Thursday, a move that will be a first for two of the world's top currencies.

The experiment will focus on the bank-to-bank 'wholesale' lending market rather than everyday public transactions but will be the first time a digital euro and Swiss franc have been fully tested. Switzerland's UBS (UBSG.S), Credit Suisse (CSGN.S) and France's Natixis (CNAT.PA) are involved in the project, along with Swiss bourse operator SIX Digital Exchange, fintech firm R3 and the Innovation Hub at the Bank for International Settlements. The eurozone is adapting to a "strong trend" towards the digitalisation of payments," said Bank of France Deputy Governor Sylvie Goulard. It is the Bank of France's latest CBDC pilot. In April, it 'settled' - or made payments on - digital bonds issued by the European Investment Bank using blockchain technology. "The Bank of France is convinced of the potential benefits of wholesale central bank digital currency to provide maximum security and efficiency in financial transactions," Goulard said.

The collaboration between the two central banks has been dubbed Jura, after the mountain range which separates Switzerland and France. It will involve the exchange of a euro wholesale CBDC against a Swiss franc wholesale CBDC through a payment versus payment settlement mechanism. These transactions will be settled between banks based in France and Switzerland. The technology means payments will be almost instant while both central banks effectively have to digitally approve them before they can go through. The central banks said the project was "exploratory" and was not an indication that their digital currencies would be fully introduced.

The scheme, which will run for the next few months, is also the latest part of the Project Helvetia experiment launched in Switzerland last year into using tokenised assets with wholesale CBDC.

It comes, too, after the central banks of China and United Arab Emirates joined a cross-border digital currency project called Multiple CBDC dubbed m-bridge in partnership's with the BIS' innovation arm based in Hong Kong. SNB governing board member Andrea Maechler said her bank was taking part because "it is essential for central banks to stay on top of technological developments." Wholesale digital currencies, usually limited to financial institutions which hold accounts with a central bank, are different from retail CBDCs which are available to the general public. They are seen as the most popular proposal among central banks because of the potential to make existing wholesale financial systems faster, cheaper and safer.

The SNB has been skeptical about digital currencies like Facebook's Diem project, formerly known as Libra, saying they could undermine its ability to conduct monetary policy.
