They (pilots) don't get paid enough to do what they do and responsible for-I think doc said it best the other day-flying became the greyhound bus. They start them at an absurdly low amount of pay I member one told me he made $26k-to start (prolly mid 90s-I wanna say)
Flying used to be a big thing up until about the late 70s/early 80s-people would still be dressed up etc..like it was an event.
The last flight I was on ('20) someone was in there fuggen jammies
That all went away when they hubbed everything and got cheap and then too many airlines made it truly the greyhound bus with wings-SouthWest had alot to do with that imo.
muh gpa lost his pilot job (in the 50's) he was moving an empty AC and how he told it was the ground crew directed him into it.
They din't fire him (as was the practice in those days according to him) but never flew again after that-worked as an Ops person-whole career at AA.
Used to be able to travel on tickets that were extended to family even after he died-muh gma had a book of tickets and you just filled it out, called and listed yerself as stand-by and showed up-din't always get on so you would never use those if you had to be somewhere.
