Latest from the Sussmann trial-

Today we learned Rodney Joffe was involved in FBI cyber investigations into Russia.

We deserve to know if he was involved in the Trump/Russia investigation.

Today we saw some important testimony in the Michael Sussmann case. First, Rodney Joffe, an FBI confidential human source, went around his FBI handler to relay dubious Alfa Bank information to a friend at the FBI. Second, there were indications that Joffe previously worked on Russia cyber security matters. This leads us to ask whether Joffe was in some way involved in the Trump/Russia investigation. More on that below.

The testimony of retired FBI Agent Tom Grasso.

Grasso, a witness for Sussmann, was a Special Agent with the FBI whose “primary responsibility involved investigating cyber crimes.” He was part of a unit detailed to the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA) in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. The NCFTA, as Grasso explained, “is a nonprofit entity where nonprofit entity where private sector and law enforcement can come together to collaborate on cyber crime matters; and the FBI unit that I was a part of was detailed to be the FBI component of that project.”

Grasso met Rodney Joffe through the NCFTA. I’ll let Grasso explain the connection:

Q. Do you know a gentleman named Rodney Joffe?

Grasso: I did.

Q. How do you know him?

Grasso: Rodney Joffe is a private sector partner and a friend of mine who I initially met in -- somewhere between 2005 and 2010, as I recall.

Q. Did he, from time to time, provide you information or interact with you in assisting on the investigation of FBI investigations?

Grasso: Yes, sir, on a regular basis.

In fact, Grasso had nominated Joffe and others for an FBI award for cyber crime investigation back in 2013 relating to “Butterfly Botnet” (malware described to have reached about four million infected computers).

Overall, Joffe and Agent Grasso had a good personal and professional relationship. And Joffe exploited that relationship to further the Alfa Bank hoax.

In early October 2016 (on or before 10/2/16), Joffe called Agent Grasso and provided some information on the purported ties between the Alfa Bank/Trump Organization. Joffe further informed Agent Grasso that there was an ongoing investigation on this matter - something Agent Grasso had been unaware of up until that point. According to Grasso:

Q. How, if you recall, did Mr. Joffe provide this information to you?

Grasso: I recall that he provided the information to me verbally over the phone.

Q. And when he provided the information to you, without getting into great detail, what did he describe the information as relating to?

Grasso: As I recall, he described the information relating to communications between the Trump Campaign and some entity in Russia.

Q. And coming out of your conversation with Mr. Joffe, did you understand that there was any ongoing investigation into those issues?

Grasso: My recollection is that at the time he advised me that there was an open FBI investigation on the matter.

At the #SussmannTrial: The #Durham team closed its case with a key quote from @Kash's 2017 HPSCI under-oath interview of Michael Sussmann, where Sussmann says, "…it’s most accurate to say it was done on behalf of my client.”—referring of course to his passing on of the Alfabank allegations to the FBI in 2016.

Also it looks like Joffe's FBI special agent friend Grasso (now retired) withheld Joffe's identity when passing on IP info to the FBI, circumventing his CHS handler (against the rules).

Canada police say they barred Trudeau from event over safety concerns

Canadian police said on Wednesday they had barred Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from a fundraising event over safety concerns after protesters with several cars and trucks started gathering outside the venue. Trudeau had been due to address an event held by the ruling Liberal Party in the province of British Columbia on Tuesday. Last year he had gravel thrown at him during an election campaign stop. Due the size and composition of the protest group and for the safety of everyone in attendance, a decision was made that it was not safe for the prime minister to attend," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement. One of the protesters carried a model gallows and noose adorned with a slogan accusing Trudeau of treason. Asked about the incident, Trudeau told reporters earlier on Wednesday that attendees had been faced with harassment, racist insults and threats of violence. "The safety of Canadians choosing to make their voices heard and politics should never be in question as it was last night and as we're increasingly seeing across the country," he said.

The Durham prosecutors trying Michael Sussmann on a single count of making a false statement to a federal official have rested their case.

The last day of the government’s case against Sussmann included some eye-opening disclosures.

The government has provided sufficient evidence to the jury that in both setting up his meeting with Baker via a text message on the night of Sept. 18, 2016, and then during the meeting at FBI headquarters the following day, Sussmann did indeed make a materially false statement to Baker when he claimed both in writing and then verbally that he had not requested this meeting on behalf of any of his clients or any company.

What happens next?

Well the defense gets to try to poke holes in the prosecution’s case. They’ll attempt to prove that ‘everybody knew’ that Sussmann was working for the DNC and the Clinton campaign, so his lie to FBI General Counsel James Baker on Sept.19, 2016 is not material and therefore the jury should find him not guilty.

As the defendant’s legal team began making their own case today, the first thing they did was bring in some FBI witnesses who wrote notes which contain a single line stating that Andrew McCabe - then Assistant Director of the FBI - had told them in a briefing that Sussmann had said he went to meet with Baker for his clients.

As I have patiently pointed out, the fact that Sussmann subsequently told the truth to other people later on after this meeting with Baker does not in any way change the fact that he told Baker something that was 100% false.

Several observers in the courtroom noted that lead defense attorney Sean Berkowitz appeared flustered and repetitive.

Once the defense has finished making it’s case to the jury and rests, the next phase, the rebuttal phase, of the trial begins.

The prosecution gets to answer the main points of the defendant’s case, and then final statements to the jury will be delivered by both sides.

How long the jury will deliberate is anybody’s guess. Since it’s pretty clear that the government had an overwhelming amount of evidence to establish Sussmann’s false statement, I don’t think the jury will be out for all that long.

I’m fairly confident that a verdict of guilty will be returned, though of course as many people love to point out, this is Washington D.C. and it only takes one person to hang a jury.

Secret recording shows GOP's Nunes saying Rosenstein impeachment would delay Supreme Court pick

"Do you want them [the Senate] to drop everything and not confirm the Supreme Court justice?" Rep. Devin Nunes said at a recent fundraiser.

Hard-line conservative Republicans in the House recently hit a roadblock in their effort to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein when Speaker Paul Ryan opposed the move. But one of those conservatives, Rep. Devin Nunes of California, gave a different explanation to donors recently when asked why the impeachment effort had stalled.

He said it's because an impeachment would delay the Senate's confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, made the statement in an audio recording surreptitiously made by a member of a progressive group who attended a Republican fundraiser on July 30 in Spokane, Washington. The recording was obtained by "The Rachel Maddow Show" and was played on MSNBC on Wednesday night.

With three kids, and a 40 hour a week job, time constraints are common, though I do usually put in at least 3 hours archiving a night and am continuously checking notables throughout the day.

I started Qnotables.com to attempt to address this anons very concern. Over 3000 notables have been archived already, many of which are very detailed to almost complete research packages. The site has a robust search feature and timeline, some new feature include account dropbox and meme share database. Although I may not have covered everything that anyone could ever want to research, I am proud of what I have accomplished thus far and have much more archived locally I hope to get to after the dust settles.

My 216 gb mega archives account that was free and open to the public for the last 3 years, was recently axed over supposed illegal content that mega refused to identify for me. I am willing to seedbox the archive it if there is legitimate interest.

I knew the battle we were fighting early on and also knew that the "story" of what happened needed to come from an anon point of view. The format chosen was intentional to provide back links to the original posts on 8kun. This provided a map for new eyes to see the war, learn, and join the fight.. Force multiplication and education was the goal. I wanted to help create more anons, not just inform the followers. Original sources are linked many original un-watermarked clips available. A searchable robust open to the public forum, that remains unused as of now and could be locked down to trusted anons if that flows better. Blogger positions also open for a more refined timeline.
