oh they have it-equities have been digitized since the mid 70's-just not for us.

Greenspan and John Kemeny wrote all those programs from BASIC/FORTRAN and put those in in either 75 or 76-dunno the actual year

The Hunt Bros. knew all that which is why they tried to bust it then.

they have it no question imo

>safe for general public to use

don't think they care about that one bit.

It's gonna be something like "we are at that seminal moment and we have to do this"-whatever 'that' is.

Rollout to public gonna be longer cause not everyone haz a phone or is "banked".

But what better way to speed that up by creating the crisis and having the solution already set.

"we'll even give you a digital wallet and a phone!"

On the Greenspan thang the last book he "wrote" he kinda blames himself for Y2k but doesn't or didn't say why-when they wrote those financial programs they did not use four diggies so in the year 2000 it would have become year 1900 or year 00

So they made it all about Microsoft and general computer issues and although he was pretty vocal about it affecting computer systems he never specified why he, as the FRB chair, was really worried.

By the time he started making public comments about it-all it was "feex'd".

All the Black money tracking and trading programs are/ were also run of the same tech based in the 50's and 60's

Prometheus, was one name I can recall..Black Star Trust.

But our entire financial underbelly is still based on the same shit they wrote back then.

The actual trading (executions) are all state of the art HFT but not the other stuff,

Wall Street Banks Weigh Bond Sales in Race to Beat Rising Rates

Earnings season is gearing up again, and that usually means debt issuance from the nation’s largest banks.

April tends to be the second-highest month for debt sales from the biggest banks, JPMorgan Chase & Co. analysts Kabir Caprihan and Nikita Dyatlov wrote in a client note this week. Typically the U.S. banks, which come out of earnings blackouts starting this Wednesday when JPMorgan reports, sell about 15% of annual issuance in April. While sales are expected to be brisk, it may be more so than usual, according to the strategists. Rates are probably only going to march higher from here, and borrowers are looking to issue while the cost of funding remains relatively low. Credit investors will also likely tune into key inflation data scheduled to be released on Tuesday. Money managers will parse the consumer price index in an effort to better navigate the Federal Reserve’s monetary tightening campaign to fight the highest inflation in 40 years. The data is “likely to reinforce the perception that inflation is endemic, the Fed will need to continue to tighten the screws and that will lead to an eventual recession,” said Ken Monaghan, co-head of high-yield at Amundi. “If the Fed was an airline pilot, given its history it would be sent back to the aircraft simulators for its inability to execute a soft landing.”

planefag/mkt fag agrees wholeheartedly and revoke that license as well-never haz anyone been so wrong for so long yet are still called the "experts"

Investment-grade bond funds notched another weekly outflow of $1.7 billion for the week ended April 6, according to Refinitiv Lipper data. The withdrawals mark the second straight week of exits after money managers pulled $2.55 billion of cash in the prior period. There have been nine weeks of outflows so far this year for the asset class. Junk bonds, meanwhile, posted a second weekly inflow as retail investors waded back into the market. U.S. high-grade bond sales are expected to be lighter next week, with consensus estimates at $10 billion to $15 billion. That follows a week that saw more than $25 billion price.

A $985 million junk-bond offering to help fund the buyout of Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, a building products distribution company, is the lone deal in the high-yield bond pipeline. Early pricing discussions on the secured portion is mid-high 6%, while the riskier unsecured section is being discussed at mid-high 9%. The U.S. leveraged loan market, meanwhile, is rounding out one of its best weeks in some time, which should bode well for borrowers that need to raise cash to fund buyouts. The floating-rate debt remains in high demand amid a hawkish Federal Reserve. The asset class notched one of its biggest inflows on record. Commitments are due on at least five leveraged loan deals next week. U.S. bond markets close early on Thursday and will remain closed Friday in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

Japan accepts Ukrainian evacuees using commercial flight for 1st time

Japan on Saturday accepted Ukrainian evacuees using seats secured by the government on a direct commercial flight from Poland for the first time. The six aged between 6 and 55, of which five are female, arrived at Narita airport near Tokyo from Warsaw, according to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan.

As Japan has pledged to play a more active role in providing humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian people following Russia's invasion, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Thursday that the government will secure seats weekly on direct flights from Poland to Japan for those fleeing from the war-torn country. Such free-of-charge assistance Japan plans to continue for a while will be available for "people who strongly hope to evacuate to Japan but find it difficult to arrange a medium to travel on their own," the agency said, as the war waged by Russia drags on and millions of refugees have fled Ukraine.

If they have no acquaintances or families in Japan, they can stay in hotel rooms to be arranged by the government after they enter the country. Until now, Ukrainian evacuees came to Japan by themselves or by a Japanese government plane, which arrived Tuesday at Haneda airport in Tokyo carrying 20 of them from Poland, where Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi visited to learn about the refugee crisis.

As of Wednesday, Japan, known for its strict immigration and refugee policy, has allowed the entry of 437 people from Ukraine. The Japanese number since March 2, about a week after the war began, is still small given that 4.44 million refugees had fled Ukraine, including about 2.56 million to Poland and about 678,000 to Romania, according to the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.

S&P cuts Russia's foreign currency rating to 'selective default'

S&P on Saturday lowered Russia's foreign currency ratings to "selective default" on increased risks that Moscow will not be able and willing to honor its commitments to foreign debtholders.

Facing waves of sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine, Russia could face its first sovereign external default in over a century after it made arrangements to make an international bond repayment in rubles this week, even though the payment was due in dollars. S&P said in a statement it understood that Russia had made coupon and principal payments on dollar-denominated Eurobonds in rubles on Monday. "We currently don't expect that investors will be able to convert those ruble payments into dollars equivalent to the originally due amounts, or that the government will convert those payments within a 30-day grace period."

Yet they could easily do so but don't-funny you don't mention that

Sanctions on Russia are likely to be further increased in the coming weeks, the agency said, "hampering Russia's willingness and technical abilities to honor the terms and conditions of its obligations to foreign debtholders."

Russia's finance minister on Thursday said the country will do everything possible to pay its creditors, but investors in Russia's international bonds face an increasingly uncertain path to recover their money should the country default. S&P assigns a selective default rating when it believes the debtor has selectively defaulted on a specific issue or class of obligations but will continue to meet its payment obligations on other issues or classes of obligations in a timely manner.

Still crickets on Evergrande though

Russia has not defaulted on its external debt since the aftermath of its 1917 revolution, but its bonds have now emerged as a flashpoint in its economic tussle with Western countries.

A default was unimaginable until recently, with Russia rated as investment grade in the run-up to its Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow calls a "special military operation".

In the past they closed some bars unless it also had a restaurant and limited drinking by closing liquor stores for three days around any Mexican Elections-but is was always pretty easy to get your favorite beverage even in towns as long as you kept it on the down low.

They did not do this at the big hotels and the Zonas for tourists.

The biggest promoter of Mexico’s presidential recall election? The president

Strolling through Mexico’s capital these days, it would be easy to assume the country’s president is at imminent risk of losing his job. City streets are littered with signs, flyers and billboards urging Mexicans to vote on whether to remove President Andrés Manuel López Obrador from office in a recall election Sunday. Only it isn’t the opposition telling people to rush to the polls. It’s the president’s loyalists.

Elon Musk polls to ‘convert Twitter’s San Francisco HQ to homeless shelter

April 10, 2022

Elon Musk, the tech billionaire who recently joined Twitter’s board of directors, has asked the company’s followers if the company’s San Francisco headquarters should be converted into a homeless shelter.

The Tesla CEO asked Twitteratis in a series of polls on the microblogging site whether Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters should be converted to a homeless shelter because “no one shows up anyway.”

“Convert Twitter SF HQ to homeless shelter since no one shows up anyway,” Musk wrote on the platform.

The poll received over 10 lakh votes in about 9 hours, and more than 90% of users voted ‘Yes’ on the ongoing poll.

However, in response to a user’s post: “True. Also, convert the CEO’s office into a master bedroom “..

Meanwhile, another user commented, “I believe you intend to run in the 2024 election. Is it Y or N?”

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal recently announced that Musk has been appointed to the platform’s board of directors.

Musk, who paid nearly $3 billion for a 9.2 percent stake in the microblogging platform, is barred from purchasing more than 15% of Twitter’s stock.

German AF GAF955 A-350 from Niamey, Niger back to Berlin-German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht onboard this AC

Sticking with the Porsche model #'s 955 is the Cayenne (really just an Audi Q7 tarted up)

German defense minister promises Niger help in anti-terrorism fight

During a visit to the West African country of Niger, German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht promised her country's continued support in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel region. She said it is Europe and Germany's responsibility to maintain a presence in the Sahel, a vast region that stretches across northern parts of Africa and which is home to numerous terrorist groups. Nigerien government representatives had assured her that they would not cooperate with mercenaries, Lambrecht said, touching on a hot topic for European governments. On Saturday, the minister visited German soldiers in the neighbouring crisis-hit country of Mali, which has been ruled for almost a year by a military junta that maintains close contacts with Russia. Hundreds of Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group are reportedly operating in Mali. It is now critical for the European Union to decide how to fight terrorism in the Sahel region, which includes Mali, without supporting cooperation with mercenaries, Lambrecht said. Niger, with its nearly 25 million inhabitants, is considered an important partner of Europe's against the expansion of Islamist terror. Many militias are active in Niger, some of which have sworn allegiance to the Islamic State or al-Qaeda. However, unlike Mali, the democratically elected government of President Mohamed Bazoum is seen as a reliable ally. Germany is part of the European Union Capacity Building Mission in Niger, which helps train Nigerien security forces. Germany also supports the G5 Sahel, a group in which Mauritania, Niger, Chad, Mali and Burkina Faso fight together against militias in the region.

Russia to Halt Bond Issuance for Rest of 2022, Siluanov Says

Russia will halt bond auctions for the remainder of 2022 due to prohibitive borrowing costs, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov was quoted as saying by Izvestia. “We do not plan to go to the local market or foreign markets this year,” Siluanov told the Russian outlet. “It makes no sense because the borrowing cost would be cosmic.” With Russia under financial and economic sanctions by the U.S. and allied countries, the cost of insuring Russia’s government debt surged last week to signal a record 99% chance of default within the year after the Finance Ministry paid some of its dollar bonds with rubles. Russia has sold 128 billion rubles in local-currency government bonds, known as OFZ, this year, according to Finance Ministry data. Plans had called for 700 billion rubles in sales in the first quarter.

Zhenro Defaults on Dollar Bond Payments: Evergrande Update

Zhenro Properties Group Ltd. defaulted for the first time after saying it was unable to pay interest on two dollar bonds before a grace period ended Saturday and warned it might not be able to meet three other coupons because of its liquidity woes.

Meanwhile, embattled developer Fantasia Holdings Group Co. and its Colour Life unit said they plan to review their business, including possible asset disposals, with a Guangdong state-backed firm.

Chinese real estate stocks rallied Friday, with a Bloomberg gauge jumping 4.1% amid JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s upbeat assessment of the sector’s equity outlook-lather,rinse,repeat*

Fantasia to Review Debt With Guangdong Govt-Backed Firm (8:18 a.m. HK): Fantasia Holdings Group Co. and its majority-owned Colour Life property management arm entered agreements with Gortune Alternative Fund Management to conduct a review on the financial position and formulate plans for possible asset disposals, according to a Hong Kong stock exchange filing. Gortune Alternative is 40%-held by its single largest shareholder Gortune Investment, which was set up in 2016 under the Guangdong government’s guidance. Gortune Alternative will also promote implementation of the overall debt restructuring plan and facilitate communication with Fantasia Group’s creditors.

Zhenro Defaults After Missed Interest Payments (7:45 a.m. HK): The Chinese builder, which in February asked holders of about $1 billion of bonds set to mature this year for more time to repay, said in a Hong Kong stock exchange filing Sunday it didn’t pay a combined $20.4 million of interest on two dollar bonds. That has resulted in events of default, according to the company.

Zhenro also said it might not be able to pay a combined $32.6 million of interest due on three other dollar bonds before grace periods end between April 10 and May 14. Failure to meet the obligations would also constitute events of default, the company said. However, the firm said it intends to pay the interest due on all five notes by May 31.

Italy’s Mario Draghi to visit Algeria as country aims to wean itself off Russian natural gas

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi is expected to visit Algeria Monday as part of a plan for his country to wean itself off Russian natural gas.

Italy, like other European nations, has been desperately looking for alternatives to natural gas from Russia since its invasion of Ukraine. Around 40% of total imports come from Russia. Algeria is Italy's second-largest supplier of natural gas, which is the main source of the nation's electricity, providing some 21 billion cubic meters of gas via the Trans-Mediterranean pipeline. Italian energy company ENI has operated in Algeria for nearly 40 years. Last month, the company announced a significant oil and gas discovery in Algeria and said it would work with Algerian partner Sonatrach to fast-track its development for the third quarter of this year. Draghi’s is expected to travel to Algeria with a delegation, including the head of Italian group Eni ENI.MI, energy transition minister Robert Cingolani, and Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, a government source told Reuters. In addition to Algeria, Italy's foreign minister has traveled to Azerbaijan, Qatar, Congo, Angola and Mozambique to secure more deals. Algerian exports have been hampered by rising domestic consumption, lack of investment and political instability, and the closure of a pipeline to Spain over a dispute with Morocco.

China Stocks Caught in Fresh Rout on Covid, Regulation Worries

Chinese stocks plunged on Monday as mounting concern over a Covid outbreak at home and rising global interest rates added to persistent regulatory headwinds.

The tech sector was once again at the forefront of losses, with the Hang Seng Tech Index losing more than 4% in early Hong Kong trading. The broader Hang Seng Index was down 2.5%, while China’s benchmark CSI 300 Index also slumped as much as 3%. Investors in Chinese equities are confronting multiple challenges at home and broad, causing the market to plunge again despite the mid-March vows from authorities to support the economy and the battered property and tech sectors. Record virus infections in Shanghai, a more-than-expected jump in China factory gate prices, concerns about tech regulations and surging U.S. yields all combined to trigger Monday’s losses. The Hang Seng Tech gauge was on course for a fourth day of losses. That’s after China’s State Council issued new guidelines over the weekend on removing data monopoly at platform companies and preventing them from restricting competition.

Investors are also keenly watching for developments related to a potential delisting of Chinese companies at American exchanges as Beijing vowed to defuse risks with a radical proposal.

Treasury 10-Year Yield Rises above (edit) 2.75% for First Time Since 2019

cap #3

Treasury 10-year yields climbed (above) 2.75% for the first time since March 2019 as investors price in the impact of the Federal Reserve’s tightening plan and accelerating inflation. The benchmark yield jumped as much as five basis points after surging 32 basis points last week when Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard said the central bank will raise interest rates steadily while starting balance-sheet reduction as soon as May. The Fed will reduce its massive bond holdings at a maximum pace of $95 billion a month, minutes of the Fed’s March meeting released Wednesday showed.

U.S. inflation probably quickened to 1.2% in March from February, the highest monthly reading in more than 15 years, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists before the data is published Tuesday. The dollar also gained, with the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index rising 0.2%.
