Trump wants U.S. Navy to escort tankers through the Gulf. Why that plan may not work 1/2
PUBLISHED FRI, MAR 6 20267:04 AM EST
KEY POINTS
• President Trump said the U.S. Navy will escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary to get oil exports moving again.
• But hundreds of ships are stuck in the Persian Gulf, raising the question of whether enough U.S. naval assets are in the region to provide safe passage.
• Ship owners need a sustained period without attacks to venture through the Strait, analysts say.The oil supply disruption only grows the longer the Strait is closed.
President Donald Trump is ready to use the U.S. Navy to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as the war against Iran rages, but providing safe passage to the volume of traffic that typically passes through the waterway will prove challenging.
U.S. oil prices have surged 28% to above $86 a barrel this week as Iran attacks tankers, effectively bringing ship traffic through the Strait to a standstill. Brent crude is up 22% this week to $89 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent would shoot above $100 per barrel if the waterway is closed for a prolonged period, Wall Street analysts say. At that level, oil prices could tip the global economy into a recession, they say.
The narrow Strait is the only way for tankers to enter and exit the Persian Gulf. More than 14 million barrels per day of crude passed through the Strait in 2025, about a third of all the oil that is exported by ship worldwide, according to energy consulting firm Kpler.
100 a day
About 100 tankers and cargo vessels pass through the Strait daily under normal conditions, said Matt Smith, an oil analyst at Kpler, and about 400 tankers are currently stuck in the Gulf due to the war.
“There’s hundreds and hundreds of vessels still in the Mideast Gulf,” said Matt Wright, a senior freight analyst, also at Kpler. The U.S. Navy would take “an inordinate amount of time to escort them even a few at a time.”
Trump’s promise to escort tankers if necessary, and provide political risk insurance to their owners, helped calm the oil market Tuesday and Wednesday.
But prices surged Thursday after Iran said it attacked a tanker with a missile. The British Navy, meanwhile, reported a large explosion at a tanker anchored in Iraqi territorial waters.
Enough ships
“A key question will be whether there are enough Navy assets to both escort ships as well as continue operations against Iran,” Helima Croft, head of global commodity strategy at RBC Capital Markets, told clients in a Tuesday note.
Insurance isn’t really the issue for ship owners, Wright at Kpler said. Tankers are not moving because they are worried about their physical security, he said, and ship owners will need to a see a sustained period without attacks to venture through the Strait again.

2/2
The urgency to recover oil flows from the Gulf is high, Wright said. But “there needs to be some confidence that Iran’s ability to continue to wage war has diminished,” the analyst said.
Houthi militants in Yemen disrupted Red Sea traffic with missile attacks for more than a year, starting in late 2023. “They’re nothing compared to the sophistication of the Iranians, so it is a very different, threat,” Wright said.
U.S. naval escorts help at the margin but by themselves will not re-open the Strait, Rapidan Energy analysts said in a note on Wednesday.Instead, the U.S. needs to systematically degrade Iran’s military capabilities, which takes time, they said.
1980s war
The U.S. Navy escorted tankers through the Strait in 1987 when commercial vessels became targets during the Iran-Iraq war, said Croft. But the U.S. military at that time was not simultaneously waging war against the regime in Tehran and guaranteeing safe passage to ships, she said.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Wednesday thatthe Trump administration will provide naval escorts “as soon as we can.”
“Right now our Navy and our military is focused on other things, which is disarming this Iranian regime that’s been striking out at all of its neighbors and Americans in every way it can,” Wright told Fox News.
“In the not too distant future, we’ll be able to use the Navy to get energy flowing again, but in the meantime markets are very well supplied,” he said.
No timeline
The Trump administration does not have a timeline for when the Strait will be safe for commercial shipping again, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Wednesday.
“I don’t want to commit to a timeline, but certainly it’s something that is being calculated actively by both the Department of War and the Department of Energy,” Leavitt said during a briefing.
The longer tankers are penned into the Gulf, the bigger the problem becomes for the global oil market, according to analysts.
The Gulf countries could exhaust their storage capacityas barrels build up with nowhere to go, said Natasha Kaneva, head of global commodities research at JPMorgan. That will force them to shut down production, potentially spiking Brent to $120 per barrel, Kaneva said in a Sunday note.
Iraqi officials told Reuters on Tuesday that Iraq has already cut production by 1.5 million barrels per day as it runs out of storage due to the Hormuz closure.
Production shutdowns could double in four days, Kaneva said Tuesday.
“With the Strait of Hormuz still inactive, the clock is ticking,” Kaneva said.

Work ongoing to restore contact with Proba-3's Coronagraph
06/03/2026
An anomaly onboard the Proba-3 mission’s Coronagraph spacecraft led to loss of contact between the spacecraft and ground control. The root cause of the anomaly is under investigation and mission teams are working hard to recover the situation.
During the weekend of 14–15 February 2026, an anomaly onboard Proba-3's Coronagraph spacecraft triggered a chain reaction that led to the progressive loss of attitude (spacecraft orientation) and prevented the entry into safe mode.
Because the spacecraft’s solar panel was no longer facing the Sun, the onboard battery started to discharge quickly. This caused the spacecraft to enter survival mode, when minimum electronics are active and data transmission to the ground is interrupted.
The exact root cause of the anomaly is under investigation, and mission teams and operators have joined forces to attempt to re-establish contact with the spacecraft to recover the situation.
One of their priorities is to investigate how the mission's Occulter spacecraft, which remains healthy and operational, could safely approach the Coronagraph and observe its orientation in space to support the recovery efforts.
Updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
About Proba-3
Proba-3 is the European Space Agency's first eclipse-making mission. The mission consists of two satellites – the Coronagraph and the Occulter.
Since their launch in December 2024, the satellite duo has claimed not one, but two world firsts – the first precise formation flight, setting the mission up for its first artificial solar eclipse in orbit.
After having achieved all of its technology goals, the mission has completed more than 60 extremely accurate formation flying orbits so far, during which it was able to observe the highly dynamic inner region of the Sun's corona.
By providing scientists with hours of science data per orbit, Proba-3 has accomplished a major feat in space-based solar and heliophysics research.

‼️ We demand answers from Ukraine’s leadership!
Photos show the so-called “Ukrainian gold convoy” operation.
Hungarian authorities detained seven Ukrainian nationals — including a former intelligence general — who were transporting $40 million, €35 million and 9 kg of gold from Austria to Ukraine in two armored cash vehicles through Hungary.
The Hungarian tax authority has launched a money-laundering investigation, and the individuals have been expelled from Hungary.
What makes this even more alarming is that since January more than $900 million, €420 million and 146 kg of gold have reportedly been transported through Hungary toward Ukraine.
Armored vehicles full of cash and gold moving across Hungary is not how legitimate financial transactions usually work.
The real question is simple: who stands behind this money and what is it meant to finance?
Hungarian authorities have launched a full investigation. Now those responsible must provide answers.

World's 1st space-brewed sake mash arrives in Japan
Mar 06, 2026 - 23:43
OSAKA - The fermenting mash used to brew sake in space as part of a world-first initiative by the maker of the popular Japanese brand Dassai arrived in Japan from Los Angeles on Friday.
Dassai Inc. plans to sell a single 100-milliliter bottle of the finished sake for 110 million yen ($700,000), with a buyer already secured. All proceeds will be donated to Japanese space development projects.
Speaking at a press conference at Kansai International Airport, where the "moromi" mash arrived on a Japan Airlines flight, Dassai Chairman Hiroshi Sakurai said alcohol had already been detected after two weeks of brewing.
"At first we did not know whether fermentation could occur in space, but now I feel somewhat relieved," he said with a smile.
In October last year, a dedicated brewing device and the raw ingredients of rice, koji mold, yeast and water were loaded onto the unmanned cargo spacecraft HTV-X and launched aboard a H3 rocket from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture.
Brewing tests were conducted in the "Kibo" experiment module of the International Space Station in an environment simulating the Moon's surface gravity. Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, who was aboard the ISS at the time, was responsible for injecting water on the first day of brewing.
The resulting moromi was then frozen and recovered after splashing down in waters off California in the United States. It will be transported in a container to Dassai's headquarters in Yamaguchi Prefecture while still frozen.

Estée Lauder executive Kendal Ascher died suddenly in husband’s arms in their $2.8M NYC apartment
A senior Estée Lauder executive died in his husband’s arms inside their New York City apartment — just moments after telling him he felt light-headed.
Kendal Ascher’s husband, William Howe, told the Daily Mail that his spouse of four months went limp in the early hours of Feb. 25 as they desperately tried to reach the bedroom of their $2.8 million Chelsea home.
“There was no pulse, he was immediately unresponsive, he died in my arms,” said Howe, 63. “It all happened within eight seconds.”
Ascher, 56, had taken a shower and said he felt light-headed so he sat down; Howe waited for a few minutes before helping his husband get back to his feet.
The pair could only go four steps before Ascher told his partner, “Wait.” Then he went limp and died.

Space Torah marks its 30th anniversary
Thu, Mar 05, 2026
Jewish space enthusiasts around the world are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first kosher Torah scroll in history to be taken into space.
Reverently known as “The Space Torah,” it was lifted into space on the Shuttle Columbia (STS-75) along with astronaut Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman on Feb. 22, 1996.
Nine days later, Dr. Hoffman read the opening verse of Genesis on Shabbat while in orbit 184 miles above Jerusalem.
Taking a kosher Torah into space capped Dr. Hoffman’s custom of bringing Judaic religious objects into space – beginning with his first space flight aboard STS 51-D in April 1985.
During his fourth mission on STS-35 in December 1990, Hoffman brought the first dreidel into space to celebrate Chanukah.
The idea for bringing a kosher Torah into space became a reality when Hoffman’s synagogue, Congregation Or Hadash, raised the funds to purchase a Torah that would meet the weight requirements aboard the Shuttle Columbia.
Rabbi Shaul Osadchey, the synagogue’s rabbi at the time, contacted his scribe friends at Klein Brothers of Brooklyn, N.Y., to search for a suitable Torah scroll.
The Torah that was selected was a new Torah purchased in Israel by Rabbi Moshe Klein from a Yemenite Jewish scribe, Yichyeh Sharabi. The Space Torah measures 7 inches in height and 4 inches in diameter.
Dr. Hoffman participated in five space missions, becoming the first astronaut to log 1,000 hours of flights aboard the space shuttle.
He performed four spacewalks, including the first unplanned, contingency spacewalk in NASA’s history as well as the initial repair/rescue mission for the Hubble Space Telescope in 1993.
He was the first Jewish-American male astronaut to fly into space and saw the act of bringing religious objects into space as part of bringing his practice of Conservative Judaism with him.
Bringing the Torah into space had the added symbolic meaning and significance of bringing the holiness of human life into space.
Dr. Hoffman noted, “It wasn’t that space made this Torah special; it was more that the Torah made space special.”
The Space Torah resides in a specially designated place within the Ark of the sanctuary of Congregation Or Ami, Or Hadash’s successor. It is read by B’nai Mitzvah students and on other special occasions. b

FCC Wants ‘Weird Space’ Missions To Get Spectrum, Too
March 5, 2026
The FCC has a plan to support the space industry sectors that feel more science fiction than fact.
FCC Chair Brendan Carr yesterday announced a proposal to provide spectrum access to “weird space stuff” (his words, not ours.) That includes missions such as orbital labs, in-space repairs, and commercial space stations.
“Whether we’re talking about repairing a satellite in orbit or creating pharmaceutical solutions to our health-care challenges in a space lab, these very real ventures will require very real resources, including secure radio signals for control and basic operations,” Carr said in a statement. “Today’s proposal is the first step toward the spectrum abundance needed to give America’s space activities the predictable spectrum environment they need to thrive.”
The details: The plan would take a two-pronged approach to ensure that novel and innovative space missions can get the spectrum they need, including:
- Updating and clarifying FCC rules to give companies working on “weird” missions more predictability when it comes to spectrum;
- Identifying new spectrum bands for novel space missions.
Context: This is the latest effort by the FCC to make life easier for space companies. The commission is also working to free up as much as 20,000 MHz of spectrum for traditional space operations, including internet constellations in LEO.
Carr is also pushing to simplify the process by which space operators get approval from the FCC, including establishing a “licensing assembly line” to speed up the application review process.
What’s next: The plan for “weird space” will be voted on by the commission at its meeting this month.

Breaking: BlackRock just froze $1.2 billion in withdrawal requests at its private credit fund.
Here's what happened:
• Investors in BlackRock's $26B fund asked to pull out 9.3% of their money
• BlackRock said no — capped withdrawals at 5%
• Blackstone's $82B fund saw record withdrawal requests the same week
• Blackstone had to put in $400M of its own cash to cover the exits
Two of the biggest funds on the planet are limiting how much you can take out.

Air Force, Space Force Ready for All Warfighting Challenges
March 5, 2026
The Air Force's lethality depends on the professionalism of airmen and the capability of their equipment, said Air Force Gen. John D. Lamontagne, Air Force vice chief of staff, who testified yesterday at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on joint force readiness in Washington.
"Airmen are our most precious resource. The active-duty, Air National Guard, reserve and civilian workforce are why the United States Air Force is effective at a moment's notice," Lamontagne said.
The Air Force updated its fitness policy to push airmen to new levels and ensure they are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with its joint partners on the toughest battlefields, the general said.
The service is improving airmen's quality of life by updating dormitories and child development care centers.
"We strive to make the Air Force an unmatched place to serve," Lamontagne said, adding that recruiting goals are being met and retention numbers are strong.
The Air Force is increasing aircraft availability, which allows aviators to get the repetitions they need to build competence.
The service is also recapitalizing its ground-based strategic deterrent, fighter, bomber and tanker aircraft, as well as the command-and-control architectures that bring them together, the general said.
At the tactical level, airmen are practicing agile combat employment and preparing to fight in exercises like Bamboo Eagle. Last summer, the Air Force deployed more than 400 aircraft and 15,000 personnel across 50 locations in the Pacific region, Lamontagne said.
Space Force Gen. Shawn N. Bratton, vice chief of space operations, said his service, along with commercial partners, executed 170 launches this year.
A new radar has upgraded optical surveillance systems to track adversarial activity on orbit better, he said, noting that additional systems will increase domain awareness.
Regarding readiness, Bratton said guardians must be ready at any time for any threat across the entire spectrum of conflict. They participated in a variety of exercises designed to ensure space superiority, and officer training courses now include training in space, cyber, intelligence and acquisitions.
"We will need to double in size in the coming years to meet identified operational needs, as well as significantly increase our training facilities. Even as we prepare for current warfighting challenges, we are aggressively looking ahead at capability requirements for the future force," he said.

Space Base Delta 1 Safety Personnel Support Arctic Operations at Pituffik Space Base
March 5, 2026
When Mr. Jason Porter visited Pituffik Space Base in Greenland earlier this year, temperatures dropped to negative 30 degrees, daylight was limited and severe winter weather periodically shut down the installation.
Despite the harsh Arctic conditions, flight operations continued as U.S. and Canadian forces conducted Operation Noble Defender. Supporting the mission was Porter, the weapons safety manager with the Space Base Delta 1 Safety Office.
The Space Base Delta 1 Safety Office oversees weapons safety programs across multiple installations including Peterson Space Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station and geographically separated units such as Pituffik Space Base.
As the office’s weapons safety manager, Porter helps ensure weapon-related operations comply with Department of the Air Force safety standards and provides guidance wherever those missions take place.
During his January visit, Porter supported Operation Noble Defender, a recurring North American Aerospace Defense Command mission designed to demonstrate the ability of U.S. and Canadian forces to detect, deter and, if necessary, respond to potential air threats approaching North America.
This year’s operation was led by Canadian forces and included four Canadian CF-18 Hornets and supporting aircraft operating out of Pituffik.
My mission there was to serve as a liaison between the Canadian forces and the American forces, since we own the base,” Porter said.
During the operation, safety personnel observed flight line procedures, inspected missile storage areas and ensured weapons handling operations were conducted in accordance with established safety standards.
The coordination helped ensure U.S. safety requirements were met while allied aircraft conducted flight operations from Pituffik.
Despite the challenging Arctic environment, operations proceeded safely throughout the exercise.
One notable incident occurred while crews were clearing snow from the airfield. A snow blower accidentally ingested an aircraft arresting cable that had been positioned for potential emergency use.
The cable system is designed to safely stop fighter aircraft during certain in-flight emergencies. Because there was no spare cable stored on the installation, it took nearly a week to coordinate a replacement from overseas.
Shortly after the replacement cable arrived, a Canadian CF-18 experienced an in-flight emergency when its landing gear would not retract after takeoff. The aircraft safely returned to Pituffik and successfully engaged the arresting cable system.
The incident highlighted the importance of equipment redundancy when operating in remote locations like Pituffik, where logistics can take time and weather conditions can quickly affect operations.
“From a safety standpoint, everything went well,” Porter said. “Good communication made a difference.”
Safety personnel also observed the professionalism of U.S. and Canadian crews operating in Arctic conditions. Despite darkness, extreme cold and limited infrastructure, aircraft operations and support activities continued safely.
As Space Base Delta 1 continues to support operations at Pituffik Space Base, safety personnel remain focused on ensuring missions can be carried out safely, even in the demanding conditions of the Arctic.

In Major Win For Putin, US Grants Russia License To Sell Oil To India While Strait Of Hormuz Is Blocked
by Tyler Durden Friday, Mar 06, 2026
The world desperately needs oil, but can't get it as 20% of it is literally stuck behind the blockaded Straits of Hormuz. Putin has tons of oil because sales are metaphorically stuck by US sanctions. If the world does not get access to oil soon enough, there will be a global recession or worse, and every day the price of oil rises by 5%.
What to do?
Lightbulb moment: why, remove Russia's sanctions to one of the countries most in need - India - and bring the excess oil to those who have the most urgent need for it, allowing the price to fall and removing much of the leverage Iran has by keeping prices sky high.
That's what happened late on Thursday, when the US issued a general license to allow for some Russian oil sales to India, giving the nation more options to purchase fuel as an escalating conflict in the Persian Gulf cuts off a major producing region.
The license lasts a month (which hints at how long the operation against Iran will likely last according to the Admin) and covers transactions related to the sale of Russian crude oil and petroleum products loaded onto vessels before March 5, so long as it’s delivered to India and purchased by an Indian firm. The measure expires April 4 at 12:01 a.m. Washington time.
The move is another U-turn, and comes months after President Donald Trump slapped tariffs on Indian goods in a bid to pressure Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to abandon energy purchases from Russia, which India never did.
"To enable oil to keep flowing into the global market, the Treasury Department is issuing a temporary 30-day waiver to allow Indian refiners to purchase Russian oil,” US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a post on X. “This deliberately short-term measure will not provide significant financial benefit to the Russian government as it only authorizes transactions involving oil already stranded at sea.”
Which reminds us: just a few days ago we pointed out that there are hundreds of millions of barrels of oil stuck at sea on various embargoed tankers, and that whoever managed to deliver those to a final destination would make an absolute killing...
We now wait to see if Vitol indeed becomes the merchant bank of choice for the next month's (with unlimited extensions) Russia-to-India transfers.
According to Bloomberg, Indian state refiners and government officials met earlier this week to consider contingency measures including turning to Russian cargoes loitering near its waters. The oil ministry had pushed for diplomats to seek some room for maneuver from Washington. As we pointed out recently, after China, India is the second country most reliant on gulf oil.
India became the single most important buyer of Moscow’s seaborne crude after the invasion of Ukraine, but the country has pretended to cut back in response to US pressure, particularly after a US trade deal struck last month that rolled back punitive tariffs. The reality is that India still continues to buy copious amounts of Russian oil and today's decree will only make it official.

Ukrainian drone strikes kill two civilians in Russia
6 Mar, 2026 10:47
Two civilians have been killed and at least 21 others injured in separate Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia’s Kherson Region and in Sevastopol in Crimea, according to local officials.
Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo said two were killed and 12 wounded when drones dropped explosives on civilians gathered outside a grocery store in the town of Aleshki just before it opened.
He said several of them had repeatedly dropped munitions on the crowd.
Saldo said Kiev had launched a large-scale attack on the region the previous evening. Pavel Filipchuk, head of the Kakhovka municipal district in Kherson Region, later said his car had encountered a drone strike but that he was not injured.
Another UAV raid targeted Sevastopol overnight, according to the city’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev. He said air raid sirens sounded twice as Russian air-defense systems intercepted three targets above the city.
The official said at least nine people sought medical assistance after the incident, including three children. Six of the injured were hospitalized with shrapnel and laceration wounds.
Razvozhayev said debris from intercepted drones had damaged infrastructure and residential buildings, including a five-story apartment building that was heavily hit.
Authorities also said falling drone fragments had damaged a gas pipeline, an electrical substation, and several buildings, including a college dormitory and a local school.
Power outages were reported as emergency services responded to the aftermath.
Russian border regions have consistently been targeted by Ukrainian drones throughout the conflict, with Moscow accusing Kiev of “terrorism” and deliberately attacking civilians and critical infrastructure.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 300 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted and destroyed since the beginning of the week.
On Wednesday a Ukrainian drone raid injured seven in the Russian city of Novorossiysk and caused extensive damage on the ground, including to kindergartens, local officials reported on Wednesday.
In response to the attacks on border areas and deeper inside Russia, Moscow has targeted Ukraine’s defense-related infrastructure, including energy facilities. Russian officials have insisted that its attacks never target civilians.

Trump tells CNN he’s not worried whether Iran becomes a democratic state. 1/3
By Dana Bash
(Trump seems to be giving CNN and Dana Bash, “the expert Trump haters and liars”the biggest opportunity of CNN and Bash’s lifetime to report the truth accurately. And interesting this article has very little acid or lies in it. Trump is giving all media a second chances)
President Donald Trump told CNN Friday that Iran’s leadership has been “neutered” and thathe’s looking for new leadershipthatwill treat the United States and Israel well, __even if that’s a religious leader and it’s not a democratic state_.
“Iran is not the same country it was a week ago. A week ago they were powerful, and now they’ve been indeed neutered,” he told CNN in a brief but wide-ranging phone interview.
In that call,he also said Cuba would fall “pretty soon” and emphasized the importance ofvoter ID legislation, which he suggested could be determinativein his Texas Senate endorsement.
Trump expressed confidence in the ease of picking a new leader in Iran— which he’s said he must be involved in — and again compared the mission to Venezuela, where the US captured Nicolás Maduro earlier this year and put his deputy in power.
“It’s gonna work very easily. It’s going to work like did in Venezuela. We have a wonderful leader there. She’s doing a fantastic job. And it’s going to work Iike in Venezuela,” he said, referring to acting president Delcy Rodriguez.
Trump also said he was open to having a religious leader in Iran. “Well I may be yeah, I mean,it dependson who the person is.I don’t mind religious leaders. I deal with a lot of religious leaders and they are fantastic,” he said.
And pressed onif he is insisting there needs to be a democratic state, Trump told CNN,“No, I’m saying there has to be a leader that’s going be fair and just. Do a great job. Treat the United States and Israel well, and treat the other countries in the Middle East —they’re all our partners.”
He went on to tout his relationship with those countries in the Middle East, claiming they’re “fighting for us.”
“And I became very friendly with all those countries. That’s why they’re all fighting for us. Before I got involved,we didn’t even speak to UAE and Saudi Arabia. You know, (President Joe) Biden shut out.Bidenand (President Barack)Obama shut Saudi Arabia, UAE Qatar, he shut them all out. They were all going to goto China, and I got involved in very short period of time that became my friends,” Trump said.
And while the president praised the US operation against Iran — saying it’s a “12, maybe 15 on the scale of 10” —he suggested he wasn’t worried about rising gas prices.
“That’s all right. It’ll be short term time. It’ll go way down very quickly,” he said, while dismissing that prices are up significantly and saying he’s “already figured out” the Strait of Hormuz.

“We’ve knocked their Navy because, you know, when you knock out the Navy, they can’t do what they wanted to be able to do.The Navy is almost, we just hit about the 25 mark. Can you imagine that? Big ones — 25 ships are down,” he said.
Trump separately told CNN that Cuba “is going to fall pretty soon:“Cuba is gonna fall pretty soon, by the way, unrelated, but Cuba is gonna fall too. They want to make a deal so badly,” he told Bash when touting US military success in his second term.
“They want to make a deal, andso I’m going to put Marco (Rubio) over there and we’ll see how that works out. We’re really focused on this one right now. We’ve got plenty of time, but Cuba’s ready — after 50 years,” he added, explainingthat Iran is the current priority.
He continued on Cuba: “I’ve been watching it for 50 years, and it’s fallen right into my lap because of me,it’s fallen, but it’s nevertheless fallen right into the lap. And we’re doing very well.”
A day earlier,Trump said at the White House that it’s only a “question of time” before American Cubans can return to their home country, appearing to say that’s next on the administration’s agenda after the ongoing war with Iran.
“He’s (Rubio) doing some job, and your next one is going to be,we want to do that special Cuba,” Trump said Thursday referring to his Secretary of State.“He’s waiting. But he says, ‘Let’s get this one finished first.’ We could do them all at the same time, but bad things happen. If you watch countries over the years, you do them all too fast, bad things happen. We’re not going to let anything bad happen to this country.”

After the war with Iran, Trump saidthe next most important issue for his administration is passing voter ID legislation— and that it could be key to his endorsement in the contentious Texas Senate runoff.
Trump has said he’ll soon make a choicebetween Sen. John Cornyn, the incumbent, and state Attorney General Ken Paxton, who’s been pushing the SAVE America Act.
“I’m making a decision fairly shortly, but I want and then I feel very strongly that we have to have the full and complete SAVE America Act, OK?I want the SAVE America Act. It is more important than everything else we’re working on other than the war,” he told Bash.
Trump suggested he needs assurances that both candidates would support the legislation.(Guaranteed Cornyn wouldn’t vote for that. That could be why Thune and other leaders are backing Cornyn. He’s their secret bomb to shut down everything Trump needs and wants. I believe this is true, the Republicans keep the ones that are guaranteed a NO vote against anything Trump and America needs. The Reps are begging, literally begging Trump to back Cornyn. They are freaked if he’s not, there has to be a much darker and deeper why Cornyn is so valuable to them. And they know Paxton is not corrupt, he’s just too honest and a Constitutional Patriot and lawyer; and once he gets in Senate the whole anti Trump Cabal of Senate Republicans will or may be disabled.)

“I’ve got to have the assurance of — you have a big story here come to think of it, but I’m just telling you— uh,I like John Cornyn, get along with him well. Get along with both of them very well. But we have go in with the SAVE America Act,” he said. (Trump and Cornyn mutually hate each other, KEK. But now Trump has the power.)
“We have to have voter ID. We have to have proof of citizenship. We have to have no mail-in ballotsexcept the military, illness, disability and travel. We have to have no men in women’s sports— Iadded two things, andwe have to have no transgender operations for youth,” he added, reiterating two additional two demands that he postedon Truth Social Thursday.
In addition to requiring voter ID to vote in federal elections, the bill would mandate documentary proof of US citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
Trump alsorepeated his demands that the Senate eliminate the filibuster to get the legislation passed.
“The Senate has to act on it. The House on it.And I don’t want the watered down one — that doesn’t mean anything. I want the one that just told you, five things,” he said.
Cornyn supports the bill but has refused to say whether he personally would vote to change Senate rules in order to pass it.
“There’s not the votes in the Republican conference to change those rules,” he told CNN ahead of the primary.
Paxton said this week he would consider dropping out of the contentious runoffif Senate leaders agreed to gut the filibuster and pass the legislation.
“The Save America Act is the most important bill the U.S. Senate could ever pass, and I’m committed to helping President Trump get it done,” he wrote on X.
Cornyn (lies, lied, and sabotages everything Trump) shot back on X: “I repeat what I have consistently said==: I support the bill and have encouraged Senate Republicans to get it done.”
(God must hate this liar like every Red Blooded Patriot in America. PS: there is no f’king way he got over 800,000+ votes in TX, the majority hate him, so theirs bribing and cheating going on.Whatever Cornyn knows what senate leaders (and himself) want’s to do or did against Trump has got to horrendous crimes, and/or he is blackmailing senate leaders, for their crimes going back to McConnel, to oppose Trump and America.Whatever it is; it’s certainly is freaking out leadership. It really has to be hideously bad for Senate leadership to beg Trump to back Cornyn.

Sri Lanka Takes Control of Iranian Supply Ship, Evacuates Sailors
Published Mar 6, 2026 12:53 PM by The Maritime Executive
The government of Sri Lanka has decided to take control of the Iranian supply ship IRIS Bushehr, with the president of the country calling it a humanitarian effort after the ship sought refuge in Colombo. They are evacuating the sailors from the ship and will move the Bushehr to a remote port in the northeast of the country.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of Sri Lanka reported that they had carefully discussed the situation, emphasizing that the country remains neutral in the current war in the Middle East. He said that there had been discussions with the Sri Lankan Navy and the captain of the Iranian ship, as well as the embassies of Iran and the United States.
“We have to understand that this is not an ordinary situation,” the president said during a briefing on Thursday night. “It’s a request by a ship belonging to one party to enter into our port. We have to consider that according to the international treaties and conventions… Thus, we have adopted a very clear position. We do not act in a biased manner towards any state, nor do we submit to any state. We are a sovereign and independent state. As a government, we have a responsibility regarding our seas, a responsibility regarding our state, and a responsibility towards our people.”
Sri Lanka indicated that it was prepared to take custody of both the crew and the vessel, subject to agreements and understandings reached between the parties.
The president said they had received a request from the ship to enter the Port of Colombo and that they were subsequently informed that one of the ship’s engines had suffered damage. He said the decision, however, was that retaining the ship in Colombo, the country’s main commercial port, “carries the risk of adversely affecting our maritime industry.”
The decision called for evacuating most of the personnel aboard the Bushehr aboard a boat that was placed alongside on Thursday night. A total of 208 people, including 53 officers, 48 senior sailors, 23 sailors, and 84 cadets, were landed and processed by immigration and received a medical check. They are being moved to a navy camp in Welisara, about 10 miles outside Colombo.
The Sri Lankan Navy has boarded the Iranian ship and is working with 15 crewmembers who remained aboard to help translate and provide information. The vessel will be moved to the Port of Trincomalee, where it will remain indefinitely.
Commissioned in 1974, the vessel is 108 meters (354 feet) in length and 3,300 dwt. It was believed to have been dispatched from Iran to resupply the frigate Dena, which the U.S. sank on Wednesday. The supply ship had then anchored about 10 nautical miles off Colombo and made the urgent request on March 4 and 5 to enter the port.
Iranian officials have not commented on the situation. They thanked Sri Lanka for its rescue and recovery efforts for the crew of the Dena. The Sri Lankan Navy rescued 32 survivors from the sinking and also recovered the bodies of 84 sailors. It was searched for additional survivors or victims with the aid of the Indian Navy.

Russian drone attack cuts power to TV tower in Kryvyi Rih, digital broadcasting down
06.03.2026 16:41
In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, central digital television and radio broadcasting has stopped after a massive Russian drone attack on a television tower.
According to Ukrinform, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine stated this on Facebook.
In a comment to the organization, Olena Demchenko, a representative of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting in Dnipropetrovsk region, said the tower had lost power and investigative actions are currently underway.
After that, specialists from the Broadcasting, Radiocommunications and Television Concern will be able to assess the damage caused by the Russian drone attack.

"Channels from all digital multiplexes, the local broadcaster TRC 'Rudana', and three radio stations, 91.6 'Lux', 93.2 'Classic', and 93.6 'Power FM', are not broadcasting.
However, the local stations 'Radio Megapolis' and 'Radio Kryvbas' are operating because they were able to switch to backup power," Demchenko said.
The journalists' union also reported that the "One kr" TV channel remains on the air through the city's cable networks.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, during the night of March 6 Russian drones attacked a nine-story residential building and an infrastructure enterprise in Kryvyi Rih, causing fires.

Ukrainian drones successfully hit Russian aircraft repair plant in occupied Crimea, SBU says
Updated: March 6, 2026 6:30 pm
Ukrainian drones struck an aircraft repair plant and two Russian Pantsir-S2 air defense systems overnight in the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula, a source in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) told the Kyiv Independent on March 6.
The long-range drones hit the production workshops of the Yevpatoria Aircraft Repair Plant, located in western Crimea, as well as two Pantsir-S2 systems near a Russian military airfield in Dzhankoi, which sits in the peninsula's northeast, according to the SBU source.
The SBU source added that other Russian military equipment and sites were struck by the overnight Ukrainian drone strikes, including two fuel tankers, an anti-aircraft gun mounted on a truck, and a ground control station for drones.
"The SBU's systematic special operations in Crimea are aimed at destroying the military infrastructure that Russia uses to attack Ukraine," the SBU source told the Kyiv Independent.
The Russian Defense Ministry said its air defense shot down 56 Ukrainian drones over Crimea overnight, but has not commented on the damages reported by the SBU source.
The reported Ukrainian drone strikes come as Ukraine regularly launches attacks on Russian military sites and infrastructure supporting the Russian army both inside Russia and in occupied territories, in efforts to grind down the Russian war machine from afar.
The direct impact of the attacks carried out by Ukraine's domestically produced drones is difficult to independently verify. The Kyiv Independent couldn't independently verify the reported overnight attacks on Crimea.
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) claimed in January that its long-range strikes over the past year either "destroyed or disabled" Russian air defense systems worth a total of approximately $4 billion.

IDF Obliterates Khamenei's Underground Bunker
3/6/2026, 1:08:28 PM EST
The Israeli military said on Friday that the underground bunker of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has been destroyed just days after his death.
"50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets dismantled Ali Khamenei’s underground military bunker beneath the Iranian regime’s leadership compound in Tehran," Israel Defense Forces wrote on X.
The IDF released 23 seconds of aerial footage that captured the moment Khamenei's compound was eliminated.
Iranian leaders had planned to use it in emergencies with more than 100 munitions, according to military officials.
“This is a large-scale underground bunker located under several residential neighborhoods in Tehran, dozens of meters deep,” Israeli military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said on Friday.
“The secret bunker from which Khamenei was supposed to conduct the fighting against Israel. He was eliminated before he could use it,” Defrin said, noting that Iran’s elected officials continued to use the bunker because they thought it was impenetrable.
“They were wrong,” he said.
In the initial U.S.-Israeli strikes of the war, the 86-year-old was killed in an airstrike targeting his compound in downtown Tehran.
Airstrikes had also killed the defense minister, the head of the Republican Guard, Khamenei’s top security adviser, and other senior figures.
Also on Friday, Israeli warplanes hit Beirut and Tehran as Iran launched a series of retaliatory strikes against Israel and Gulf countries that host U.S. forces.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military said early Friday that it struck an Iranian drone carrier. Its Central Command, which oversees the Middle East, released footage of the moment it was taken down.
"U.S. forces aren't holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy," CENTCOM wrote on X. "Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire."
The Iranian military did not immediately acknowledge the attack.

.@PressSec: Of course it's in the best interest of the U.S. for Iran to no longer be led by a radical terrorist regime that chants "Death to America," and is lying to the U.S. and the world about their secret ambitions to possess a nuclear bomb. @POTUS does not want to see that. He wants to take an interest in pursuing who the next leader of Iran is going to be, and he is discussing it and deliberating it.

This is truly incredible to watch:
5 minutes ago, US crude oil prices surged above $91.50/barrel.
Now, we are above $92.50, adding +$1/barrel in 5 minutes.
This puts prices up +$12/barrel in 9 hours.
We are witnessing a historic short squeeze as we speak.

53 Dems vote against declaring Iran a state sponsor of terror. 1/2
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley among 53 Democrats opposing nonbinding House measure
March 6, 2026 9:56am
Dozens of Democrats havevoted against a nonbinding resolutionin the House that reaffirms Iran as the "largest state sponsor of terrorism."
The resolution, put forward by Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., passed by a 372-53 vote on Thursday, with all those voting no being Democrats. Two Democrats also voted present.
Among those who voted against the measure were all the members of the "Squad," such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
The resolution said the Islamic Republic of Iran "remains the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism and provides substantial financial and military support to groups including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis."
It added that Iran "poses a direct and persistent threat to the United States and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American citizens," citing the Pentagon as saying that "Iranian-backed proxy militias are responsible for the deaths of at least 603 U.S. service members in Iraq - roughly one in every six American combat fatalities."
It also said, "according to the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafeal Grossi,Iran has amassed a large stockpile of enriched uranium and continues to block access to undeclared sites in Iran affiliated with their ‘big, ambitious nuclear weapons program.’"
The resolution concludes by saying, "That the House of Representatives declares it is the policy of the United States... that Iran continues to be the largest state sponsor of terrorism."
California Democratic Rep. Lateefah Simon, who voted no, claimed the resolution "contains inaccuracies and is designed to justify the President's actions in Iran."
"Republicans in Congress are not only surrendering their constitutional duties – they are also playing politics with a resolution reaffirming Iran as a leading state sponsor of terrorism," Simon wrote on Facebook. "That is already U.S. policy."
"I have been clear about my opposition to the brutal and devastating actions of the Iranian regime against those protesting for freedom," Simon continued. "This resolution does nothing to advance their freedom and instead, puts Congress on record as giving the Administration further pretext for a war that should not have been started in the first place."
Rep. Julie Fedorchak, R-N.D., who voted in favor of the resolution, said in a statementthat, "This week’s bipartisan classified briefing with Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, John Ratcliffe, and General Dan Caine underscored the significance of the threat we face from an Iran intent on developing nuclear weapons behind a curtain of impenetrable ballistic weapons."
"Standing with our allies and confronting state-sponsored terrorism is essential to protecting Americans and advancing stability around the world," she added."This resolution sends a strong message that we will not ignore or excuse the regime’s extremist actions."
Rep. Adam Smith, a Democrat from Washington state who also voted in favor of the resolution, said, "I agree with the principal assertion of this resolution that Iran is a bad actor.
"Iran's malign and destabilizing actions in the region and treatment of its own citizens should be denounced. I have never contested this. What I do contest is that going to war is the reasonable response to this assertion," he continued. "I support this resolution. I do not support the president’s war of choice with Iran."

Conscripts say commanders abandoned them in bases after Khamenei’s killing
3 hours ago
Following the killing of Ali Khamenei anddozens of military commanders, some officers have abandoned their barracks, leaving soldiers in dangerous conditions andforcing them to remain on guard duty under ongoing bombardment, multiple conscripts have told Iran International.
After Khamenei was killed in Tehran on February 28,confusion and divisions have emerged within the command structure of Iran’s military forces, the conscripts said.
In a military base in Lorestan province, several soldiers reported uncertainty over the chain of commandand growing security concerns after the recent developments.
In a message, one soldier saidmany commanders left their posts to avoid potential US and Israeli strikes, leaving ordinary conscripts behind in the barracks without support.
According to the soldier, fear of bombardment has led some troops to spend nights outside the base, resting in nearby open areas despite the cold weather.
The soldier also criticized what he described as a lack of attention to the situation of ordinary troops and called for authorities to address their conditions.
