Marjorie Taylor Greene blasts Trump’s Iran strikes

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) slammed President Trump’s decision to launch major strikes on Iran in a push to dismantle its nuclear efforts and push for regime change.

Greene posted a broadside against Trump’s Iran strikes on social media platform X, dismissing the administration’s rationale and accusing the president of betraying his supporters who backed his campaign message of opposing more foreign wars.

“Thousands and thousands of Americans from my generation have been killed and injured in never ending pointless foreign wars and we said no more. But we are freeing the Iranian people. Please,” the former GOP lawmaker wrote Saturday in a nearly 700-word post.

“There are 93 million people in Iran, let them liberate themselves. But Iran is on the verge of having nuclear weapons. Yeah sure,” she continued.

“It’s always a lie and it’s always America Last. But it feels like the worst betrayal this time because it comes from the very man and the admin who we all believed was different and said no more.”

Greene, who was a top supporter of Trump’s for most of her time in office, has become a fierce critic since last year. Earlier this month she said Trump’s Make America Great Again slogan was a “lie” and panned his first year back in office.

Trump has hit back at her criticism, labeling her a “traitor.”

One of Greene’s former colleagues, Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.), pushed back on her latest comments in an interview on CNN.

“Marjorie, for whatever her reasons are, I don’t understand them. But this is putting America first — America is leading,” he said of the administration’s strikes on Iran.

Trump said in a video released early Saturday morning that the U.S. was “undertaking a massive and ongoing” combat operation in Iran targeting Tehran’s missiles and navy. The president has said he wants to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon while urging regime change in the country.

Democrats and several regular GOP critics of the president have spoken out against the decision and called for Congress to debate the issue.

A European Parliament fact-finding mission to the Canary Islands has revealed that around half of migrants who claimed to be unaccompanied minors upon arrival were ultimately determined to be adults.

The Committee on Petitions conducted the visit in September 2025 to assess the impact of illegal immigration on the Spanish archipelago. According to a draft report from earlier this month, prosecutors informed MEPs that “among approximately 1,500 unaccompanied minors whose age was not clear and who were subjected to age-assessment procedures at their arrival to the adult reception centers, around half of them were ultimately determined to be adults.”

The report also acknowledged systemic weaknesses in the initial screening process, stating that “initial assessments by police are often inaccurate, leading to some being misplaced in the wrong center before their age is confirmed.”

The scale of arrivals remains significant. By Aug. 31, 2025, 201 boats had reached the Canary Islands in that year carrying 12,249 migrants, including 9,955 men, 782 women, 192 minors traveling with parents, and 1,320 unaccompanied minors. Authorities recorded 629 individuals whose age was in doubt, and officials noted that 92 percent of arrivals were male.

This aligns with the findings from across Europe. In 2023, Frontex data indicated that exactly 92 percent of illegal migrants were males, with that number being remarkably stable over the years.

Crime and public safety were repeatedly raised during the mission. MEP Sebastian Kruis questioned why migrants appear statistically overrepresented in prison figures, asking “the reasons why, in proportionate terms, an immigrant has a 1.5 times higher chance of being in prison,” as in the Canary Islands, migrants represent 31 percent of inmates but they only account for 22 percent of the total population.

“There has been an increase in criminality following the arrival of unaccompanied minors, with offenses committed mainly against them,” the report states. However, it continues to explain that these offenses are predominantly “fights, insults, and sexual assaults, occurring mainly within reception centers,” meaning that while offenses may be committed against migrants, they are also being committed by them.

Neighborhood representatives in La Isleta, near the Canarias 50 reception center in Las Palmas, told MEPs they had experienced a growing “feeling of insecurity.”

The report also detailed the difficulty of prosecuting smuggling networks. In 2024, 282 preliminary investigations were opened in relation to boat arrivals, yet 97 percent were provisionally suspended due to a lack of identified perpetrators.

On returns, authorities said expulsions to Morocco are limited because many arrivals lack documentation, and Morocco does not process papers for undocumented nationals. It was noted that 92 percent of repatriation requests by Spain are rejected by Rabat.

Maritime Rescue representatives stated they “did not carry out interceptions of vessels” and were limited to search-and-rescue operations within Spain’s area of responsibility, which often results in migrants being brought ashore in Spain even when their point of departure is known.

In the report, Dutch MEP Sebastian Kruis of the Patriots for Europe (PfE) group argued that he had experienced a “big difference between the presentations given by official representatives and NGOs and what the people from the districts close to the reception centers and the news are saying about incidents concerning migrants.”

WASHINGTON — President DonaldTrump was already frustratedwith Homeland Security SecretaryKristi Noem. Buther performance at two congressional hearingsthis week is whatfinally cost her the job, lawmakers and people familiar with the discussions told NBC News.

Noem’s place in the administrationhad become increasingly unstablefollowing the fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens by federal officers during immigration operations in Minneapolis earlier this year, andamid her fraying relationshipwith the U.S. Coast Guard and other reportedinfightingat Homeland Security, the officials said.

Her firing by the president on Thursday in an online postcomes after weeks of bad pressinvolving DHS’ immigration enforcement operations, and as support for Trump’s immigration agenda, a top administration priority, has tumbled in recent weeks.

Thepresident had been speaking with Republican lawmakersthis week abouthis displeasure with Noem and told them he was considering replacing her, according to Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., two other Republican lawmakers who did not want to be named publicly, a person familiar with White House’s thinking and three people familiar with the president’s private discussions.

Still, the Truth Socialpost by the president on Thursday came as something of a surprise to Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla=., who Trump declared would replace Noem.

Mullinwas attending a Senate GOP lunchwhen he got a phone call from the White House switchboard, got up and rushed outof the room, leaving behind a full plate of food, according to GOP Sen. Roger Wicker, who said it raised suspicion among Republicans that something was afoot.

“I’ve got to be honest with you, I wasn’t expecting the call today,” Mullin said. “I found out just before you guys did,” he told reporters.

In a phone interview with NBC News,Trump said Noem was "a fine person. She did a good job. I’m abig fan of the senator from Oklahoma. It wasn’t a hard choice.”

Mullin is expected to take over on March 31,though he told reporters that he hoped his confirmation process would begin right away, and Noem will assume a new role called “special envoy for the Shield of the Americas.”

Not long after Trump’s post, Noem appeared in Nashville, Tennessee, at a conference for members of police unions. Some in the room stood for her when she came out.

And she sent out her own social media post on X thanking the president for her new appointment.

Noem, too, has clashed with the Coast Guard, the only member of the military branch that falls under the 260,000-person department.

At times,the tensions have escalated into confrontations, NBC News reported. In one contentious incident in May,Noem’s top adviser, Corey Lewandowski, berated Coast Guard flight staffand threatened a pilot for taking off without one of the secretary’s personal items on board — a heated blanket, according to the current and former Coast Guard officials.

An administration official told NBC News thatreplacing Noem was based on the culmination of many “unfortunate leadership failures,” including staff mismanagement andconstant feudingwith others across DHS. She is the first Cabinet secretary to leave in Trump’s second term.

“Kristi’s drama sadly overshadowed and distracted from the administration’s extremely popular immigration agenda, which will continue full force,” the official said.

The sources say thatwhile Trump has at times been unhappy with Noem’s performanceleading DHS,his frustrations really escalated this week. One GOP senatorsaid her performance during the hearings was “water boiling over the edge of the pot.”

The president was particularly frustrated by her response when she was repeatedly asked about her role in approving contracts, specifically a $220 million ad campaign to encourage immigrants to self-deport, the sources said. Kennedy described Trump as “pissed.”

At one point during questioning, Noem told Kennedy that Trump knew about her decision to approve the ad campaign contracts —an answer that did not sit well with the president, the sources said. Thead contracts went out through a process that limited competitive bidding.

Trump said he didn't know about the campaign.

Senator Kennedy said Trump had called himafter the Senate hearing, “when he was mad as a murder hornet. He asked me what I thought about Markwayne.”

Andformer Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, had also expressed interest in replacing Noem, according to two of the people familiar with the discussions.

DHS funding expired Feb. 13, forcing a partial shutdownof the department that affects the Transportation Security Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Coast Guard and cybersecurity.

Democrats have been negotiating with the White House over changes to immigration enforcement to secure their votesto reopen the agency in full. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said that Noem’s ouster might help negotiations.

“It might be easier for us to negotiate,” he said.

But Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said the personnel change would do nothing to change the situation. (These assholes are just assholes! KEK)

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said Democrats hadn’t discussed yet whether Democrats still planned to investigate Noem.

America’s top generals have been as clear as they dare in warning Donald Trump off his latest military adventure. But the president wasn’t listening.

Eight weeks after sending helicopter-borne special forces into Caracas to seize Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Trump has taken his warmongering to a new level with the launch overnight of “major combat operations” in Iran.

The Venezuela raid was well planned, limited in scope, and a clear military success, just the kind of stunt Trump and the former Fox News host who serves as his “Secretary of War” needed to fire up the troops in their new anti-woke army.

But Iran is a whole different matter. There’s a reason why, as Trump put it, the Iranian regime has been able to chant “Death to America” for the past 47 years as it targeted American forces and interests in the region through its network of terror groups and proxy militias.

The last time the United States tried to use military power to deliver regime change in the Middle East, with the ill-fated invasion of Iraq in 2003, its forces were bogged down for eight years. The real winner of that adventure was Iran, which was effectively handed control of the new Iraq after the dismantling of the Baathist regime.

Of course, Iran has been massively weakened over the past couple of years. Hezbollah and Hamas, its main proxy forces, have been all but destroyed by Israel, and while an American bombing raid last June did not actually “obliterate” Iran’s nuclear program, as Pete Hegseth claimed at the time, it did set it back.

Reports from inside the White House say Trump’s military advisers, including Gen. Dan “Raizin” Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have warned the president against a full-scale attack on Iran, briefing not just that it could cost American lives but dangerously degrade already depleted weapons stockpiles. Trump dismissed a Washington Post report that Caine is “against us going to War with Iran” as “100% incorrect.”

It’s possible that Trump will walk away with an “easy” military victory, or that the Islamic regime, once prodded, could fall, as the president suggested in his video address from the White House. That will depend on Iran’s will and ability to resist the warfighting power of the United States and Israel and whatever allies they can persuade to join them in the ominously titled “Operation Epic Fury.”

But it’s far from clear why Trump had to go to war with Iran now, while his son-in-law Jared Kushner and New York property pal Steve Witkoff are still trying to bring the regime to heel. The massive military force gathered in the Middle East and Mediterranean was already sending a pretty clear message to the Mullahs.

In a text message last month to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Trump explained that since Norway had denied him the Nobel Peace Prize despite him supposedly ending at least eight wars, “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace.”

When Trump first entered the White House in 2017, there was widespread fear that the nuclear suitcase would be following around such a volatile president. But he defied expectations and ended up being more cautious militarily than his Democratic predecessor as commander-in-chief, Barack Obama.

The great American peacemaker of the late 20th century was another second-term conservative president, Ronald Reagan, who clearly had an eye on his legacy as he joined with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to limit nuclear arsenals and call an end to the Cold War. Trump seems to have gone in the opposite direction in his second term: he wants to blow everything up, to test the limits of his power, as though a switch has flicked in his 79-year-old brain.

The documents revealed that a global group of prominent business and political figures had close personal relationships with a convicted sex offender, and raised questions about how much those people knew about, or participated in, Mr. Epstein’s crimes.

Never mind that those relationships did not seem to prove a widespread deep-state scheme centered on pedophilia. Never mind that the files do not seem to back up other outlandish claims — such as beliefs about cannibalism, cloning or devil worship — in the QAnon canon.

For adherents, there is enough to make them feel vindicated. The drop, experts said, is legitimizing the vein of paranoid thinking that is increasingly prevalent in American politics and, in some cases, further cementing support among QAnon sympathizers for President Trump.

“People like me and MANY others, have known this for almost a DECADE,” trumpeted one Facebook user in a post. “It’s time to admit we were right,” a user on a QAnon channel declared on Telegram. The QAnon faithful gloated online by posting memes, like clips of John Travolta’s confident strut in “Saturday Night Fever” and heavy-metal riffs titled “Q Was Right” with the repeating lyric “wake up.”

Even some who doubted QAnon acknowledged that there might have been some truth to its ideas. Many of the QAnon faithful celebrated an apology of sorts from Bill Maher, the left-leaning commentator with a show on HBO, who said this month about sexual perversion among elites: “I’m big enough to say, QAnon, you were more right about this than I admitted, and than lots of other people admitted.”

“It’s terrible to be right about many of these things,” said Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former congresswoman from Georgia, in a recent interview on YouTube that addressed sex crimes among powerful people and Mr. Epstein’s influence in high society. Ms. Greene was once a vocal QAnon supporter but distanced herself in 2021, saying then she was “allowed to believe things that weren’t true.”

In an emailed statement, a spokeswoman for the White House wrote that Mr. Trump was “totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein.” Ms. Greene did not respond to a request for comment.

The millions of files posted last month about Mr. Epstein chronicle his efforts to surround himself with young women and solicit sex from them. He was charged in 2019 with running a sex-trafficking operation in the early 2000s that brought dozens of girls as young as 14 to his opulent Upper East Side home. He was found dead in his jail cell that year, and his death was ruled a suicide.

The documents also show Mr. Epstein’s ties to powerful people including a former prince, billionaire businessmen, top officials from multiple White House administrations and academic leaders.

The files do not address many common QAnon assertions. Many prominent figures facing backlash for their proximity to Mr. Epstein were not documented as having supported sex trafficking, but rather as having socialized or dealt financially with him, or shared lewd remarks about women.

So the movement is adjusting its expectations and blind spots to fit the current reality, moving goal posts whenever certain wild predictions fail to happen, as it has frequently done in the past, according to longtime experts.

“Nothing is ever going to validate QAnon,” said Russell Muirhead, a politics professor and conspiracy theory expert at Dartmouth College.

He added, though, that the Epstein files can help make sense of QAnon and other conspiracy theories “as allegorical stories about an elite class that has lost touch with common-sense morality, that regards human beings as things to be used in whatever way is convenient.”

The QAnon movement emerged from the dark corners of the internet in 2017, spawned from cryptic posts attributed to a mysterious figure called Q. At one point, millions of Americans — including many politicians — believed its overarching theories, according to some estimates, though its popularity has faded greatly since 2020. Now, its adherents are using the massive trove of documents to reignite interest in their theories.

They are resurfacing, for example, a debunked theory from 2016, known as Pizzagate, which suggested that political figures used “pizza” as a code word for abusing children. The newest Epstein files do show the financier and his associates repeatedly discussing “pizza” and other food and drink, sometimes in ways that seem coded. Those documents — which include unverified and fake content, according to the Justice Department — have fueled new conspiratorial thinking, distorting the available evidence and pushing online speculation far beyond what the documents have proved. The files led Tucker Carlson, the conservative pundit, to declare on social media that “it looks like Pizzagate is basically real.”

But the new Epstein files do not appear to explain why Mr. Epstein referred so often to pizza. They do not include any suggestion of a Democrat-led child sex-trafficking ring. The pizza restaurant in question does not have a basement.

“It fits the pattern of conspiratorial thinking, where if you have a conclusion that you already hold on to, anything else can be confirmatory evidence,” said Yini Zhang, an assistant professor at the University at Buffalo who studies social media and emerging communication technologies.

QAnon’s shifting standards are showcased clearly in its relationship with Mr. Trump. In QAnon lore, the president is a nearly messianic figure who was thrust into the political arena to round up and arrest elites involved in satanic, pedophilic activity.

In reality, he has been criticized during his second term for stalling or preventing the release of documents that critics speculate might implicate him or powerful people in his orbit. He has dismissed the inquiry as a Democratic “hoax.” In December, his administration missed a congressionally mandated deadline to release all of its files on Mr. Epstein. Mr. Trump, his properties, his associates and related terms were referred to more than 38,000 times in the files, according to a review by The New York Times.

Now, however, many in the movement have found ways to excuse Mr. Trump’s actions in what experts described as examples of cognitive dissonance or selective memory. Worries that the president was working with the deep state have evolved in recent weeks into a conviction that the documents fully absolve him and expose his enemies.

“Essentially, they’re tying themselves in knots to absolve Trump and play down the idea that Epstein ever really mattered — while still claiming they’re trying to stop trafficking and save children,” said Mike Rothschild, a journalist and expert on conspiracy theories. “We’ve gone from Epstein being the center of a vast interlocking ring of satanic child traffickers to Epstein being a bad guy who Trump exposed, so let’s stop talking about it.”
