There is no clear successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to CNN.

Following the ayatollah’s death, interim leadership is expected to select a new leader. The candidate must be a man, a cleric with political competence, moral authority, and loyalty to the Islamic Republic.

CNN identifies 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei, the late leader’s second son, as a leading contender. He is known for his close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij militia.

However, the report notes that Mojtaba Khamenei’s lack of senior clerical rank and formal position could hinder his appointment. Additionally, the transfer of power from father to son is generally disfavored in Iran.

On February 28, Iran’s state media formally announced the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following reports of coordinated US and Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran. Authorities declared a 40-day period of national mourning, bringing to a close Khamenei’s nearly 37 years as the country’s highest political and religious figure.

In accordance with the constitution, an interim leadership council is to take over the responsibilities of the Supreme Leader after his passing. This temporary body consists of the sitting president, the head of the judiciary, and a cleric appointed by the Guardian Council, and it will govern until a permanent successor is selected by the Assembly of Experts.

Iranian law stipulates that the new Supreme Leader must be appointed by the Assembly of Experts, an 88-member clerical institution elected by popular vote and entrusted exclusively with the authority to choose and supervise the country’s top leader.

Specifically, document control numbers like "834021-" appear both in authenticated CIA archives and in certain MJ-12 materials.

For decades, critics dismissed MJ-12 as pure fabrication.

The standard line has been that it was a 1980s hoax, but if internal routing codes, file references, and archival markers in the MJ-12 set align with genuine CIA indexing formats from the same era, then were these documents entirely fabricated, or built using authentic internal frameworks?

If someone forged these in the 1980s, they had an advanced understanding of CIA file taxonomy and document control systems way before the internet made that kind of research easy.

This is definitely a kick back against the lazy 'debunked, move on' narrative. Proving the MJ-12 files are legit is massive news.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A federal judge in the District of Columbia has ordered the U.S. Air Force to provide more information about how it searched for records related to unidentified aerial phenomena, after an investigative journalist challenged the adequacy of the agency’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) response.

Judge found the Air Force’s search declarations incomplete and ordered more detailed submissions

Court upheld the Air Force’s full withholding of one classified video under FOIA exemptions

Court questions Air Force’s FOIA process

U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth ruled that the Air Force’s filings were insufficient to determine whether its search for responsive records met the standards required under FOIA.

The opinion notes that the agency’s initial search found no records, but a later, expanded search identified three responsive videos.

The court directed the Air Force to supplement its declarations explaining how and where searches were conducted and why additional responsive materials could not be located.

Withholding of “F-22 video” upheld

Among the materials located, one was identified as the “F-22 video.” The Air Force withheld it in full, citing national security and classified information exemptions under FOIA. Judge Lamberth agreed with that decision, finding the justification adequate.

The court’s order leaves open the question of whether the Air Force’s additional searches will satisfy the FOIA request, setting the stage for further filings in the coming weeks.

The reason he is “supposed to” is that Khomeini effectively declared himself the spiritual leader of the group upon the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979.

CIA station in Saudi capital hit in drone attack

The strikes in Riyadh come as Iran widens retaliation across the Middle East in the wake of the U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign.

A suspected Iranian drone attack hit the CIA’s station at the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia on Monday, in what would amount to a symbolic victory for the Islamic republic as it lashes out at U.S. targets and personnel across the Middle East, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The U.S. and Saudi governments confirmed that two drones hit the U.S. Embassy complex in Riyadh but did not disclose that America’s spy hub was hit in the attack.

The CIA declined to comment.

An internal State Department alert obtained by The Washington Post said the attack “collapsed” part of the embassy’s roof and “contaminated” the inside with smoke. The notice said the embassy sustained “structural damage” and personnel “continue to shelter in place.”

The extent of the damage was not immediately clear. There was no indication that any CIA personnel were wounded.

While the attack amounts to a minor setback for the spy agency’s presence in Saudi Arabia, it may find significance to an embattled regime that has long viewed the CIA as its ultimate foe, given Washington’s covert support for the 1953 military coup that ousted Iran’s elected prime minister.

Former CIA officers who have worked in the region say that the loss of the station is a disruption but that there are work-arounds.

“Drawdowns are a part of the business,” said one former officer who served in the Middle East, and who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the clandestine agency. “The local liaison relationship is so tight I think the Saudis will roll out the red carpet” to accommodate the spy agency personnel. “There’s a lot of redundancy built into these things.”

WASHINGTON —Today, the Department of Homeland Security revealed evidence detailing the politicization of TSA’s watchlisting program under the Biden administration. Discovered documents, correspondence, and timelines clearly highlight the Biden’s inconsistent application of Silent Partners Quiet Skies and watchlisting programs, circumventing security policies to benefit politically aligned friends and family at the expense of the American people.

This includes William “Billy” Shaheen, spouse of fellow democrat and sitting U.S. New Hampshire Senator, Jeanne Shaheen, while surveilling political opponents like Tulsi Gabbard months after.

After Senator Shaheen directly lobbied the former Administrator, Pekoske gave repeated, explicit direction to exclude Shaheen from the Silent Partner Quiet Skies list. Pekoske granted Billy Shaheen a blanket Silent Partners Quiet Skies exemption despite Shaheen flying with a Known or Suspected Terrorist on three occasions.

All the while, Tulsi Gabbard, and many other Americans, were placed on the Silent Partners’ Quiet Skies list with little to no visibility, awareness, explanation, or oversight.

Billy Shaheen was hardly the only high-profile individual that was placed on this exclusion list. This list also included members of foreign royal families, political elites, professional athletes, and journalists. Shaheen’s blanket exemption has since been revoked.

“It is clear that this program was used as a political rolodex of the Biden Administration—weaponized against its political foes and to benefit their well-heeled friends,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “This program should have been about the equal application of security, instead it was corrupted to be about political targeting. The Trump Administration will restore the integrity, privacy, and equal application of the law for all Americans, including aviation screening.”

For far too long, this program has yielded little to no measurable security impact and lay at the expense of the American traveler.

A timeline of events:

07/20/2023: William “Billy” Shaheen was a TSA Random Selectee on his flights from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS, Flight #1) to Washington-Reagan International Airport (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to BOS (Flight #2). Billy Shaheen was flagged for the first time as Co-Traveler with a Known or Suspected Terrorist (KST).

Shortly after Billy Shaheen’s travel, Senator Shaheen’s office made an inquiry to TSA about the Senator’s husband receiving enhanced screening on these two flights.

10/18/2023: Shaheen was flagged a second time as a Co-Traveler of a KST.

It was after this flight that Senator Shaheen made a second inquiry to TSA, via a meeting with then Administrator Pekoske, about her husband being on a watchlist. TSA did not disclose any information on watchlisting.

An Israeli defense source confirms that the Israeli Air Force struck a building in the Iranian city of Qom where senior clerics had gathered to elect Iran’s new supreme leader.
